Nurse. She ignores physical boundaries and determines chases and game results exclusively through player skill versus player skill in mindgaming, not things out of either side's control irrelevant to skill. Also performs balanced at all levels of play.
Second closest would be Blight. Can't bypass physical limits, but can make do with almost any tile or object in the game except for a very few, thanks to the mix of bump logic and sliding he was designed with intentionally, as well as flicking.
-
Most killers are in a good spot.
-
She's in a spot of perfect balance. She doesn't need any changes, except to Torn Bookmark.
-
Just remove the Hinder and it’s fine.

You do realize the entire reason this idea already got considered and scrapped is cause it's way too abusable, right?

Thing is, you can visually see the difference between 2 90 degree flicks, and the difference between a flick turned into an m1. Yet, I've still seen people do greater than 90 degree flicks without visual confirmation consistently.
The only other way to do it with no add-ons is to use a third party program (lag flicking). I dunno what to tell you.

Blight is fine, but Alchemist's Ring needs some sort of change though. And 180 hit Blight is not an intended feature, it's an exploit. So that needs to be changed, too.

"Slam:
- Minimum Angle of Attack: 45 °
- This refers to the minimum Angle at which The Blight must hit an obstacle's hitbox to initiate a Slam, otherwise he will slide past it.
"
This can be exploited by looking up or down. Just to add it in, since this is another exploit on Blight that was even abusable on super close corners which should be Blight's weakest position, not his strongest. That's like giving Nurse aura reading through walls or giving her 3 blinks basekit.
The original flick was made 180 degrees, at which point it was decided it was too powerful and lowered to 90 degrees. Now there should be a max of 120 degrees with 2 addons. Doing 100 degrees+ flicks with no addons is not intended and will (eventually) be patched.
And no, it cannot be mindgamed unless you know what the blight is doing. Newsflash, you wont as flicking doesnt have a different visual effect. Oni's flick DOES have different visuals since his head moves with the camera, Blight doesnt.
If a flick needs things that can
Sorry, but the two of you are just plain wrong. It’s done by either pre-turning 90 and then flicking 90, or by flicking, M1 to reset turn cap, and flicking again during the M1. The first example is just a 90 flick, just facing a different way when starting the rush. The second example is an intentionally coded mechanic:
https://www.twitch.tv/mclean_yep/clip/AmorphousFaithfulKleeTheTarFu-jPzbiLNS-Dku-899The first part of this video is talking about J-flicking, an old exploit where super high DPI was able to break the 90 frame turn cap in a single frame, which was fixed. You cannot go past 90 in a single frame anymore. You either pre-turn, or flick, attack, and flick again in the new frame, since it is 90 per frame. And mindgaming it involves just putting yourself where he is not. If you think he's going for a 180 flick around something, don't be there, take a different direction. If you read him right, you evade the hit. If you didn't, you get hit. That's how mindgames work.

Just because an exploit is relatively hard to learn doesnt make it any less of an exploit. Clairvoyance was very hard to learn to exploit with, and that exploit was one of the few reasons why the perk was actually good in comparison to things like Detective's Hunch, for example. It wasnt even an amazing exploit either and actually very easy to counter too. Oni's exploit is kinda easy to avoid too. Blight's exploit? Not really, if the Blight knows what they are doing, it's always a hit. Hence it needs to be fixed. I am assuming it will be (somewhat) fixed by the time they rework Alchemist Ring.
First of all, the creator of Blight literally made flicking like that an intended feature.
Second of all, it can be mindgamed, which is what you are supposed to be doing anyways.
-
Cause it’s a ridiculously insane amount of work for not enough payoff. Music, trailer, story, voice effect acting, 3D model, animations, coding an ENTIRE character into the game, add-ons, future skins, perks, etc. Also people usually have god-awful ideas on balance/design.

Neither do I, balancing the game around FOV is just silly and giving a slider wouldn't actually hurt anything serious in balance besides giving a long-needed qol
I think the original intention of skirting around giant blind spots should just be removed entirely, to be honest. Even with up to 103 (FOV with Shadowborn), there will still be blind spots, so it's not like it completely kills it either. Just means things like running up to the killer or being right beside the killer will not be possible, which I don't consider a meaningful loss.
-
There are no broken killers, which I agree on. I'd say Blight is a lot stronger than Spirit personally.

If the player knows how to play the nurse, you cannot do anything. Also, some build are really broken with her.
Scourge + agittion
Starstruck + agitation
Starstruck + make your choice
etc...
Fun fact, there are players that also know how to play against the Nurse on an equal level. And actual evidence proves that said even match ups lead to ~2K average for the Nurse.
-
BHVR's stated reason is this game is balanced around a limited FOV, intentionally allowing survivors to evade a killer by skirting through blind spots. Personally, I don't think that's a good design ethic.
-
I don't know why people keep bringing up good or god Nurse players as if that matters in the slightest bit. There are good and god survivors, and all data proves they perform evenly against each other when actually matched up that way. Matchmaking putting good or god players against worse players does not mean something is overpowered.
-
Eh, some add-ons need nerfs or reworks, like Alchemist Ring/C33/Torn Bookmark/blink range/Tombstone Piece. But there are zero killers that need basekit nerfs. Most things people think are unbalanced is more of just a matchmaking or solo vs SWF balance issue.
-
The game does not need more ways for salty players to quit while dodging the DC penalty.
-
Why would it be? It has nothing to do with solo or SWF. Whichever side played better and more skillfully will win.
-
Nurse and Blight by a massive margin.

You realize the destroyed totem is the exact same spot the rekindled totem is? Just get rid of it and it'll be gone forever.

Lol that’s not the point. When you get good enough with Nurse (an unbelievably overrated skill ceiling) then she completely breaks the game.
Proof?

Why are so many ppl still crying/complaining about it?
Is it that important to you?
Will this make Legion the new S tier killer and beat Nurse?
For real yes it is weird and dumb but in the other hand, who cares? It doesnt effect or weaken Legion at all so why making such a big deal out of it?
Because it’s something that holds them back for no good reason? Why do you feel the need to mock people bringing up critique as “crying/complaining”? Be a better person.

BHVR has outright said they have to keep certain killer perks weak because otherwise they'd be OP on Nurse. It's clear she's unhealthy for the game because the devs have to tiptoe around her.
Feel free to give a source for that claim. Perks good on her have been buffed repeatedly, and perks good for her have been released repeatedly.

That would really improve the perk, yeah. But on a 4-man swf, that might be overboarding, since one survivor having it would be able to increase the timer for each and every (struggle) hook.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2887200#Comment_2887200
I was thinking the same. What if it just increased your hook timer without any conditions? I don't think that would be to powerful, since it would only come in clutch with camping. Or highly organized SWF, but they are difficult to beat regardless, and it also would drain out some other second chance perk.
I would also like it if the perk would activate on both phases, but that could proove problematic with swf as well.
Unconditional increase is completely busted, as there are a lot of situations it’s detrimental to not camp. In the hands of good players that can force the killer into situations it’s stupid to not camp, it’s even more exacerbated. Same with both phases. It’s already enormously strong as is in a coordinated team. The only change it needs is letting the other survivors see the survivor has it.
-
This sort of idea was tested and scrapped for being abused. Being able to activate it by yourself is the problem, since you can force the killer into a lose-lose where it’s stupid to not camp, but doing so punishes them anyways.
-
I don’t know why people have this weird idea Nurse holds back balance for other killers. It’s blatantly wrong. Plenty of perks that are good on her have been buffed before. Plenty of perks that are good or even amazing on her have been released. What on earth are y’all even talking about?

I was told that some addons were bugged and that was contributing to making her OP, is this true?

If I see nurse I kill myself on hook. She's broken, she's boring. Not worth my time. I prefer any killer but not her. Better a camper bubba...
I pity your teammates that get matched with an immature person like you.

It's a mentality issue, not a Nurse issue. People need to stop quitting/DCing/suiciding just cause the match isn't how they want.

oh but it is tho. everybody knows they are BY FAR the strongest duo in the game, and then Spirit comes in third place...
im not even gonan talk about blight addons wich u know are overpowered like his ring, compound 33, or his new vial...
then u have nurse wich any kind of counter she ever had (she doesnt really have any but if u guessed right) by making edistance is erased with distance addons or double recharge... tthey are op and their addons make the experience unberable. and everything they say is right
There will always be a strongest. That doesn’t mean they need a nerf. Alchemist Ring and Torn Bookmark are the only real major issue add-ons. The basekit killer powers are both completely fine.
-
@hiken said:
and dont you think the complains are fair? did u see their addons? on top of them being the 2 strongest killers in the game they also have the strongest addons in the game and they always use the top they can (wich is fine, they are there to use) but that doesnt make the experience any better to go against, so of course people complain, or meta squad or imediate loss in SOLO Q... (most people paly solo q, is not fun playing a hopeless game) also people doesnt just complain about nurse and then blight peopel been complaining about both FOR A LONG TIME.
There being complaints for a long time doesn’t mean what they say is true.

I disagree, as many others do too. And no I’m not gonna look for the twitch stream to find the one moment where they said that. But you’re free to do it yourself!
Then sorry, but your claim is irrelevant and has no weight.

Perhaps that's the case.
My past survivor games have all been meta-using nurses and blights and I'm so freaking tired of it.
Another issue that BHVR explicitly mentioned was there just aren't enough players of a given skill level at times. For instance, extremely good players are very rare. So BHVR has two options. Either queue takes literally hours upon hours to try to get an even match for them. Or it gives up and soft-caps their MMR so that they can get a match quicker, even if it means they'd be miles better than the people they will likely be matched with/against. So that could be another factor. There are not many extremely good players regardless, and so they will be shoved into lower-level matches.

Tried countless times.
Sure they may whiff a hit every now and then, but she'll just blink nearly instantaneously right next to me after she recovers. Or If I attempt LoS, nearly all nurses I face run range add-ons so she'll literally be on my booty cheeks in seconds.
I don't run Dead Hard or Iron Will so all nurse players, you're welcome.
Range add-ons are badly designed, so I won't contest that. But it is completely provably capable to evade a Nurse evenly, assuming an even skill match-up. I don't mean any offense by this, but it sounds like MMR is just putting you against Nurses that are better than you are at playing against.
-

I’m playing this game since 2016 and I hardly see survivors doing good against a nurse because she’s just overpowered. She needs a rework, devs have already admitted she was a mistake.
Also rework ≠ nerf. It’s about time people understand that.
Mind giving a source for that claim about the devs? She's the best designed/balanced killer in the game.
-
@ukenicky said:
Ngl when she was disabled from the game it was so nice. Playing solo queue vs an all out meta nurse is so unfun. Matches that end in like 1-2 minutes are a waste of time but idk maybe MMR is more to blame for that scenario.
I just really don't like them though they tend to be really rude in end game chat from my experiences.
Uneven matchmaking is the fault here. Even skill matchups have repeatedly been proven to perform evenly. But when MMR puts more experienced players against less experienced players, of course that'll affect results.

Assuming I'm a survivor main lol.
I don't play nurse because I don't want to play a killer who just ignores all forms of survivor defenses and mechanics.
This change was to at least give some extra distance for survivors against a good nurse.
If you can land your blinks, then having to wait 3 seconds for a blink after fatigue shouldn't be a struggle lol.
Mindgaming and cutting off LoS exists.

Yeah that doesn't matter lol. A good nurse will clap you. I literally been playing for 5 years I know how to play against her. You really can't do much against a killer that goes through walls
Which is why she constantly averages to 2K every single time at high level even matches, yeah.
-
People keep calling Nurse/Blight overpowered, but I've never seen any of them have any actual data to back up their stance. In contrast, all of the publicly available VODs of even matches at high level shows both perform evenly balanced against survivors. Yeah, there are god Nurse/Blights. There are also god survivors. The existence of extremely good players is not a usable argument.
-
Not like either need nerfs anyways, outside of like, Torn Bookmark/Alchemist Ring.

As of this half an hour, I'm on about 9 because every lobby has 4 flashlights, 4 toolboxes or 4 medkits and it's 50/50 chance of being a SWF.
Wouldn't mind going against some proper survivors and not toxic ones, please.
Or a game which doesn't end within 2 mins due to all the toolboxes.
Fun fact. None of what you just said is improper or toxic.
-
Or.... you could buff solo so they have the same info SWF does, and rebalance around all survivors being "SWF" (at least in level of info), instead of trying to juggle solo vs SWF balance.
-
Why are you cleansing all 5 dulls? Just learn how totem spawn logic works for every map and remember the location of any dulls you've seen just from traversing map. If NOED appears, just check it later.
If killer is camping: Literally zero pressure on any other survivor. Get rid of NOED, prepare Exit Gates, rescue and leave.
If killer is slugging/hooked and going for others: Literally zero pressure on that survivor. Just get rid of NOED, prepare Exit Gates, rescue them, and leave.
-
It means you used Dead Hard too early in comparison to their swing.
-
Ah yes, immediately punish any downs in the first 70 seconds by making the killer unable to do anything with placement of the survivor they just downed. No.
-
None. The only killer I dislike is Hag, and I dislike both playing as and against her cause of her jumpscare traps.
-
Okay Sluzzy
-
I don’t dislike any builds.
-
Sounds like a you problem. Stop ragequitting and ruining it for the 4 other players.
-
This exact mechanic has been tested by BHVR, and scrapped because it was immediately abused to hell and back.
