right, god forbid someone identifies in a way that doesn't fit your own personal definition
Reminds me of truscum that actively demean trans people as not being trans, just because they don't have dysphoria.

Yknow, I always get a good laugh seeing people who buy into the whole 'gender ideology' thing trying to settle on anything resembling a concrete definition.
It's not an ideology lmao. There will always be exclusionary morons in any group, even if part of the point of the group is to avoid said exclusion.

Why are you telling other LGBT+ people to shut up on an LGBT+ thread?
You sound like the people who say can be a man lesbian.
You're spreading harmful misinformation about this community and when being corrected you're telling me to shut up.
Ah yes, that's why LGBT+ should be tolerant of people like truscum being exclusionary of trans people just because they themselves are trans, right? LMAO
Your identity does not prevent you from being exclusionary of it. Case in point, truscum: Morons that think if you don't have dysphoria, you aren't trans.
The irony in you asking that question when you are actively trying to silence others including other LGBT+ people is hilarious though.

Just because you're LGBT+ and disagree with me doesnt make me wrong.
Why should I care if you're LGBT+ or not? Are you both transgender?
Imagine if I went to a lesbian and tried to tell her what a lesbian is, when I'm not one. It's pathetic isnt it? Always the same 2 piling up on me and trying to silence me when I try to mention trans people, on an LGBT+ thread.
Are you non-binary? No? You are literally being a hypocrite by your own standard, lecturing a non-binary person on being non-binary. You aren’t the victim, quit playing like one. You are not an authority on all trans things and I am not an authority on all trans/non-binary things. Know who is the authority on a person? The person themselves and themselves only.
@Marigoria said:

So by your definition, you being nonbinary doesnt make you trans, so why are you, a nonbinary person, trying to tell me, a trans person, what trans is?
If you’d even bother taking a half second to realize, you’d realize I said some non-binary people consider themselves trans and others don’t.

Where did I try to determine someone's gender?
I'm just educating you, as a trans person, on what trans is, since you clearly don't know and are spreading misinformation.
You aren't educating jackshit. You are not an authority on it, and being trans does not make you correct. FYI, I am non-binary and pan. You are being exclusionary of other trans identities despite being trans yourself.

LOL no you cannot be a nonbinary man/woman, because man and woman are binary genders.
People stop talking over me, I am trans and you are spreading misinformation and making it harder for trans people like me to get accepted because you keep spreading nonsense
Being trans does not make you correct on matters. There are trans transphobes (eg, truscum), gay/lesbian homophobes, etc. Stop playing the victim. Other LGBT+ people are disagreeing with you.

Hm no.
Cisgender: Someone who identifies as the gender they were assigned at birth.
Transgender: Someone who doesn't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth.
Nonbinary: Someone who doesn't identify as a man or a woman.
So by definition, if someone is nonbinary they are trans, because NO ONE gets assigned "nonbinary" at birth.
Fun fact, you are not the sole authority. Some non-binary people do not consider themselves to be trans. Also, you can be a non-binary woman/man.

Guess you people are only pro LGBT+ when those same LGBT+ people agree with you and have no mind of their own
Chooses to be unnecessarily rude and combative from the get-go, complains when called out and plays the victim. Newsflash, people disagreeing with you doesn’t mean they are against LGBT+. If you don’t want people to respond to you, don’t post on a public forum, genius.

(I mean I didn’t want to start that discussion but you can be non-binary but not trans after all… e.g. being born intersex)
intersex =/= non-binary, intersex is sex, non-binary is gender. Also regarding the earlier point, some non-binary people consider themselves also trans, others don’t. It’s an arbitrary line.

Erasure works by having people over represented and others not so much.
Idk why you had to try to talk over me, again, when all I said was that I wanted a binary trans person in the game. I'm not opposed to them adding nonbinary characters, I just wish they wouldnt stop at.
What is it with you and being constantly rude to people who just didn’t know better?
-
Still too abusable. They just hide near the hook. Chase doesn’t start if the survivor doesn’t run. Which means they can put the Bubba in a situation it would be completely stupid to not camp, and then neuter his power for doing so. No. Also not being able to take down multiple people is stupid, that just rewards multiple people bombing the hook.
-
Every single character in DBD is LGBT+ unless explicitly confirmed otherwise that they are cisgender heterosexual. 😎 Nurse/Felix could be bi or in the closet.
-
Not gonna lie, I’d rather play with 20 hour players with a positive attitude than an utterly insufferable person that blames everyone except themselves.

So you are trying tell MMR is working great? Because i am pretty sure it is not.
MMR is trying fast matchmaking, which makes it so bad.
MMR does just fine on average. It only becomes a problem when you get to players who are ultra high MMR, because there’s not enough other players of their level also on. For the average player, it is generally consistent. As in, yes, there are exceptions occasionally (if someone dodges the lobby, it’ll try and find a replacement quick regardless of MMR, etc). But for the most part, it’s fine.

Yeah, which clearly happens every game and results in it holding back how good you are from no longer being matched with these obviously worse players. I don't think it is neccessarily low mmr and even if it was it is nothing to be ashamed about in this game.
What I think is that people are too hard on everyone except themselves and always look for excuses. They also take dbd seriously which is also a mistake.
I actually had to ditch a rl friend when it comes to games because he was always raging and lacked any self reflection to overcome something. It just brings my mood down for zero reason.
I agree. There is nothing wrong with not being good at the game. There is something wrong when they insult others for not being good at the game. Especially when they’re not any better.

So that's why your games are ok, because you don't care.
I have thousands of hours in this game and I do care, so there's that. When someone does care, reality exists. Being stuck in low MMR with noobs isnt fun.
You realize you are telling on yourself, right? If you are being consistently matched with/against noobs, you are not as good as you think you are.
-
I play killer with zero gen regression/solo queue survivor with zero second chance perks and have fun every single game. DBD doesn't tilt me, because I don't care how many kills I get or if I die or escape. Losing gens fast/being teabagged/clicked at/hit on hook/camped/tunneled/slugged to death/etc doesn't bother me at all, which is why I don't care to use regression or second chance perks. I use other random perks I find more fun instead.
-
This is an awful idea. It would be a nightmare to balance and screw over people who like a specific character who suddenly now is not the "meta" options by being inherently disadvantaged for picking them.
-
With the exception of certain skins like the big mascot outfits for Legion/Blighted outfits/etc that say otherwise, all of them are canonically other timelines. For example, the Lunar New Year Rat Susie skin is from a timeline where the Entity snatched her from a Lunar New Year's festival instead of the "original" Legion's origin-point. It's not the characters "get" their clothes. Trickster's Brazil skin is from a timeline he got kidnapped from Brazil instead. So on and so forth.
-
Sliding is an intentional mechanic both PC and console can do. No platform can go over 90 in a single frame. Blight is not DPI dependent. Console can do pretty much everything PC can do.
-
Tunneling when it's not the best strategy to do so is punished by good survivor gameplay, so no. You are completely incorrect.
-
Would make her literally awful. Is literally counterintuitive to her design. The entire point is she bypasses barriers. Also what the hell would she do on indoor maps then? Or literally near any indoor/complex structure whatsoever that she can't navigate otherwise fast enough for an actual chase?
She does not need a nerf or rework to her basekit.

why don't they just adjust the hitbox when you're injured? it makes no sense why the hitbox is the same as when they're standing
Cause it takes additional hitboxes = more computing power needed to constantly keep track of it. It doesn't only check the hitbox when the hatchet would hit. It is constantly checking. That's how it knows when it does hit. Even adding a second one literally doubles the workload per survivor, and then factor in there being 4 survivors. Also the reason it doesn't match shape is on purpose. It's so specific survivors don't have advantages for heights/animations/etc. Every single survivor has the same one.

yes yes its latency bois
Sphere hitbox + pill hitbox. Sphere is exact diameter of hatchet length. Hits by edge of sphere. Learn what you're talking about before trying to be a smartass.
The reason it looks weird this frame is cause you're looking at it from bottom perspective of handle. That is how big it would be if it was "standing". The frame before where it's "standing":
-
The majority of the basekit changes do not affect Nurse. She does not break pallets/walls, attack cooldown is irrelevant (because she fatigues), Bloodlust is irrelevant (charging Blink cancels Bloodlust build-up), etc. The only things that matter is gens taking 10s longer and survivors running for 0.2s less after being hit. Which is a 0.8m distance which also does not matter that much, given Nurse cannot just walk directly behind the survivor like others. She moves in charged-up bursts of movement, which a 0.8m difference is practically negligible to. I disagree with gens being made to take 10s longer.
Other than that, your other points are just incorrect. Survivors of an equal skill level can do just fine versus her, and there are multitudes of examples of survivors that do precisely that and end the game with 0-1K for the Nurse as a result.
-
Mmh, some could use a shift in how their power is oriented (eg, Nemesis being excessive in 1v1 but useless otherwise). That said, no killer has an overpowered basekit.

Um. I would consider being killed for being LGBT+ as oppression.

Even in the MOST inclusive countries on this planet, there are still people that do not support them. Just because the legal system does, does not mean everyone in said country does. Of said people, some will still openly discriminate against or harass them, or even resort to violence.

I'm just saying they are not part of LGBT+, which they are not if they are straight and cis.

Because that's what being an ally is. It still doesn't make you part of a marginalized group.
They don't have to be a part of LGBT+ to be in a marginalized group. Crossdressers are also a marginalized group that should be accepted as normal in society.
-
Whether or not crossdressers are part of LGBT+ is irrelevant and besides the point.
Intersectionality is a term that’s caught on in the last few years, but what does it even mean and what’s it got to do with women’s rights? This year for 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Womankind Worldwide is focusing its activities on intersectionality. This is the reason things like the Progress Flag have become a thing in the first place. Defending JUST LGBT+, or JUST POC, (etc etc) is not enough. Being LGBT+ does not mean you are a POC. Being a POC does not mean you are LGBT+. But there is overlaps in both, and even when there is not, both are still minority groups that face discrimination.
@Marigoria said:
And with all this nonsense I'm out.
It's more important to silence a trans person to defend straight cisgender men who like wearing women's clothes.
And people wonder why these threads never go anywhere, always the same people defending the same nonsense because they want to be quirky while at the same time telling actual LGBT+ people they are wrong.
LGBT+ people are not a monolith, nor do you speak for all of them. As an example, I am non-binary and pan. And I disagree with your take on the matter. You can defend both LGBT+, as well as other discriminated minorities. Like how you can support both LGBT+ and people of color. Crossdressing does not harm anyone (except bigots malding, which is irrelevant). Division benefits the oppressor, not the oppressed. Standing together is how said minority groups gain strength in unity.
-
@Marigoria said:

Who is forcing these crossdressers to wear certain clothes?
You can choose to be a crossdresser, just wear clothes that are for your gender. It's literally not a brain thing.
That's like saying furries can't choose to be furries, they ARE forced to wear fursuits. Please, this is ridiculous.
It's almost like the reason they don't do crossdress openly is because doing so can get them physically/verbally/emotionally abused. And that wearing clothes that they feel don't fit them can cause active distress? Clothes are a huge part of identity. Whether or not they are LGBT+ is irrelevant and besides the point. They are a discriminated minority that cannot help the fact they like the clothes they do.

LGBT is for sexuality and gender minorities, it isnt a catch all for kinks and whatever else.
A straight cis man who likes to wear his wifes clothes is not a discriminated minority.
The same way a straight cis man who likes to dress as a woman for drag shows isn't a discriminated minority.
I’m just gonna make a correction here. Cross dressing isn’t a kink only. People can just like wearing other clothes. It is not inherently sexual. And people that cross dress absolutely face discrimination. Clothes being gendered in the first place is stupid anyways.

You are pretty vitriolic to someone just asking questions. Pretty neutral questions too.
If you’re just asking questions, a good place to start would be "Can you give me links to resources so I can learn about minorities and why inclusivity is important?" 😉
I wouldn’t want to accidentally contribute to another "A LGBT+ person was mean to me once so it made me stop supporting LGBT+ as a whole" excuse, would I?
Just asking questions (also known as JAQing off) is a way of attempting to make wild accusations acceptable (and hopefully not legally actionable) by framing them as questions rather than statements. It shifts the burden of proof to one's opponent; rather than laboriously having to prove that all politicians are reptoid scum, one can pull out one single odd piece of evidence and force the opponent to explain why the evidence is wrong. If you actually are an earnest questioner, then prove it by acting in good faith and showing you want to start learning.
-
@Sylhiri said:

So then the plan for future content to make everyone feel like the have representation would be to add every identity, correct?
Oh look, even you people can accidentally stumble onto the correct answer sometimes. Amazing, I’m so proud of you. Good job! You’re right. We should be inclusive of all minorities (except stuff like pedos, before some moron tries to use this as a gotcha).
-
@Sylhiri said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3045652#Comment_3045652
When one group says they are underrepresented and that a different group is over represented, wouldn't that indicate they have a rough idea on the appropriate amount of representation they would like? Wouldn't it be easier for the developers to satisfy that need if they knew the data before hand?
And if G would be too over represented with two characters then how many characters should it be for each of the identities? Should all identities be included or only the "main ones"?
What cishets think inclusivity efforts in companies/media is like:
I think I should clarify. The above number where I said millions is me lowballing it. If you take all characters in the entire sum of all media produced in the entirety of human history, that probably won’t even meet the 5% that admit it openly let alone the rest that don’t. If even the lowball can’t be achieved, you don’t really have any grounds to talk about over-representation.
But overrepresentation clearly is a problem to people of your sort, so I think we should actually also additionally retroactively alter/remove existing cishet characters and media to adjust for that.
-
@Sylhiri said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3045614#Comment_3045614
Well, what would the appropriate amount of representation look like?
People would have a more accurate answer if people like you stopped losing their minds over representing and normalizing minorities so that said minorities feel welcome to openly embrace their identity instead of keeping it hidden. People that have a problem with representation are the problem. But hey, since statistics are all the buzz, chew this for size. ~5% of youths in the US have stated they are transgender. The real number is some unknown sum higher, mostly cause of people like you. Come back once there’s at least millions of trans characters in media. Sound good?
-
Sure. You know what, I’ll go along with your thoughts. There’s too much representation - of cishet people. The absolute overwhelming majority of all media of any form whatsoever produced since the start of human civilization is cishet. The percent of LGBT+ characters in media is far smaller than the actual amount. Therefore, I think that should be corrected for. From now until some unspecified point in the future, no cishet characters will be created or portrayed. Every single character will be LGBT+, until the summation of all human media from the start of human civilization itself reaches the supposedly precious accurate "statistics" of representation people like you care so deeply about. Sound good?
Oh wait what’s that, you think that’s unfair? You want representation? Sure - but only if you can explain what makes you think you deserve representation. After all, cishets are currently over-represented in human media in its summed up existence. Not like a character being cishet matters in a FPS, right? Can’t have that lazy representation now, can we? You don’t agree? Why are you so obsessed about representation? I think that’s kind of unhealthy to crave it so much.
-

I think that the point they were trying to make was that it is unhealthy to crave identification in media. Characters should be defined by their character and personality, not their identity.
Yeah, ######### the minorities that want to see themselves in media. There’s a difference in wanting representation and obsessing over it. Identity is a key part of a person’s character lmao. I cannot believe I have to actually explain this.

I've long been baffled by this. When I grew up, I read comics and found great inspiration in many figures. I associated myself heavily with the character Storm in the X Men. She was of strong mind, spirit and dedication to ideals I held dear. If asked who best represented me, it was her. Thing is, I'm not a black woman from Egypt.
Representation in today's culture is highly unrealistic. The percentages are way off and the people clamoring for it seem to have an unhealthy need to only associate with their race, gender or sexuality. That is a very unhealthy lack of self appreciation, imagination and self worth.
Nobody can jave a healthy self image if they require a video game character to be the same physical representative of themselves in order to enjoy the game. It's make believe........either pretend or go play a less imaginative game like checkers.
TFW cishets have to see a piece of media that isn’t 100% cishet:
Have you tried getting over it? There doesn’t need to be a reason to have representation. People EXIST. Lazy representation is still representation. All representation is good representation except bad representation. Because it is still more representation. It literally does not matter what percent of a game’s characters are LGBT+ compared to real life. Get the hell over it and stop projecting your own insecurities. They don’t require anything. It HELPS normalization, which is something that’s being done literally because of people like you. LMAO
