Camping with Bubba can be Fixed
The Problems
- The Cannibal currently has the ability to camp a Survivor to death during a match due to his ability to instantly put any Survivor attempting to rescue into the Dying State.
- This rewards the player using The Cannibal by doing as little as possible and punishes players trying to play the game properly.
- This does not feel good for any Survivor, especially the one that was targeted first and was unable to do anything for up to the entire duration of the Trial or their stay on the hook.
- Even if the Survivor players manage to get a good enough rescue, the threat of The Cannibal still remains once the Survivor is unhooked, meaning that there is potential for all Survivors to be downed and either hooked or re-hooked by The Cannibal.
The Solution
- Nerf: Using Bubba's Chainsaw within 16 meters of a hooked Survivor will only allow you to consume 1 token.
- Nerf: Using Bubba's Chainsaw within 16 meters of a hooked Survivor will only injure other Survivors once, incurring a 3 second recovery time.
- Nerf: These two effects will linger for the next 5 seconds or until The Cannibal is 16 meters away from the initial hook.
- Change: These effects occur after 10 seconds of the Survivor being hooked, just to allow The Cannibal player to be able to hit any Survivors attempting to save a little too early.
With the aforementioned changes, these would prevent certain Cannibal players from securing free sacrifices and preventing other Survivors from saving their teammate, while also preventing the affected Survivor(s) games from being completely ruined by The Cannibal player. These changes would mostly affect players who desire to camp out the opponent, but will mostly not affect the players who attempt to play as fairly as possible with him.
But as you would notice, this system isn't perfect. There is still one flaw that I'm going to address below.
What if a Survivor tries to make The Cannibal re-enter the 16 meter zone?
- Change: If the Cannibal is in chase with a Survivor while outside of the 16 meter zone of a hooked Survivor, Bubba's Chainsaw will act as it would normally for the next 15 seconds.
- Change: If a Survivor is hit or the chase is lost, this effect will end prematurely.
The first additional change would punish Survivors that attempt to exploit The Cannibal's new restriction by allowing The Cannibal to put a single Survivor into the Dying State upon re-entry, preferably the Survivor that the player is currently in a chase with. The second change, however, is also to prevent any other exploit where The Cannibal can use this time to put any other Survivor into the Dying State as well.
As you can see, I've managed to cover a lot of bases.
This is what I believe would be the best course of action to defeat The Cannibal's great ability to camp a Survivor to death in the match, and would basically allow for a much healthier and fun gameplay loop against The Cannibal under any circumstance.
These changes aren't perfect, but they are what I think would be the best changes to at least apply to The Cannibal to remove such an unnecessary and unfun playstyle against him, while also not completely killing his ability to possibly trade hooks with or beat out Survivors in the normal sense.

Still too abusable. They just hide near the hook. Chase doesn’t start if the survivor doesn’t run. Which means they can put the Bubba in a situation it would be completely stupid to not camp, and then neuter his power for doing so. No. Also not being able to take down multiple people is stupid, that just rewards multiple people bombing the hook.
