Please nerf Chucky, but don't normalize the term "SM treatment".
I don't know what BHVR was thinking when they gave the smallest killer in the game third person, fake footprints, undetectable for no killer stain and a power that can curve around any tile in the game. The real footprints don't even work half the time.
It feels terrible to play against him, but I don't think he should be gutted.

Nothing will fix the matchmaking for the event. The best you can hope is that the event returns with some suitable tweaks. I don't see any game mode where survivors don't have their perks being popular long term. It's where all the creativity lies. Without that, it's gonna get old pretty fast.
This.

This forum is wild.
Enjoy not playing any matches then lol.

So screw everyone playing the event for the first time, or for the first time with a specific character, I guess?
Who pooped in your pancakes?
Not really. If you login during the event, you get 50k bloodpoints for free. That's more than enough to level up a character and get cakes, not to mention the several codes you can redeem to get bloodpoints.
I hate people who spend more hours posting on the forums instead of playing the game.

No excuse? So it is morally wrong not to bring cakes oh no how terrible… That is even more ridiculous than before, you don't need an excuse to not bring an offering, you are free to do what you want, so don't try to paint this as some sort of an obligation.
Enjoy grinding for longer, that's all I have to say.

the survivor who brought the White Ward
didn't even bring an item. That's not that unusual. It could mean they forgot to take the white ward off, or it could mean they're trying to collect event items from within the match.
You can get event items from the bloodweb for 2k bloodpoints and you can buy Iridescent addons and items with the bloodpoints you get from bringing a cake. There is genuinely no excuse to not use cakes during the event.

Trying to have fun by forcing players to do something... Just let people play the way they want, you get enough cakes anyway, more then you can ever use... I played for 20 h and have 200+ cakes, I will not use them within the next year... Because that is on a single character... There is no need to be greedy about it... You will have enough cakes either way.
This isn't about having cakes, it's about the 540% bonus bloodpoints everyone gets if all 5 players bring a cake, which doesn't have outside of anniversary events. I'll have enough cakes to have a cake for the next couple hundred matches but why not take advantange while cakes still spawn in the bloodweb? And I don't think having to grind after the event ends because you wanted to use a white ward, brown offering, or a YELLOW ESCAPE CAKE during the event is fun, not to mention they still get the bonus while the other players who brought cakes get nothing.
-
@HolyDarky said:
Do you play in the normal modus or in the modifier? I feel like in the normal one players bring less cakes than in the event one.
However, the problem on the survivorside is that they get less cakes than killers because the cakes share the same spawnplace like the eventitem (which look fancy but besides that nothing special). A killer prestige gives you like 70cakes while a survivor prestige gives you 30 - 40 cakes due to the eventitems. As a result, I think many players can't bring a cake because they don't have one. Of cause some players might be a little bit stingy or they safe them to use them when they play with their friends but not everyone is like this.

BHVR just likes missing information. For example: Trickster has a combo when using throwing knifes and an Addon that increases this combo but the description does not tell you anything about it. You either have to check the wiki or a YT video to find out what the combo does that this Addon increased. There so many other examples. Idk why they do this but they do it.
Good take, I forgot that items don't apply to killers lol, but it takes like 2-3 levels max to get a cake in your bloodweb if you're REALLY unlucky; most just keep them for when the anniversary ends, which is bad because the bloodpoints they will get from that cake will not be able to be used to buy even more cakes, and I think that's the most devastating part about cake hoarding.

Jesus, can you be any more petty? These offerings give bonus BP to everyone for a reason... So you don't only give yourself something but also treat others to it... You want 108% bonus bp? Sure, go for it but everyone else also gets it, just prevent from being so childish about this stuff... What you could argue for is that bp offerings should always apply to everyone, just so you cannot get this feeling of betrayal... But in the first place it would be great, because overall more bp.
I tried to understand what you wrote, but all it came down to pettiness... So no, I don't try to understand your reasons, because they are just not reasonable.
Those additional cakes are going to be super useless later on when they only apply to people who don't have cakes...
I clearly mentioned in my original post that after the event, everyone should get the bloodpoint bonus, because you can't get cakes after the anniversary event ends (ofc).
As soon as the anniversary ends, that should no longer apply, so players can bring cakes and everybody benefits from them after the event.
I think people that don't bring cakes during the event just to hoard cakes for after the event ends is boring, unfun, makes the grind for everyone longer, and there will be less cakes after the anniversary event ends because everybody who cake hoards leaves less bloodpoints during the event for more cakes.
For example, today I played a match as survivor where 4 cake offerings were brought and ONE (1) White Ward, and at the end of the match, it was revealed that the survivor who brought the White Ward didn't even bring an item.
That example and others who bring Survivor Cakes and brown offerings shouldn't receive more bloodpoints for trolling people who try to reduce some of their future grind like I am. That's what this whole thread is about: trying to lessen the grind and have fun during matches.

It still spawns a rare item and toolboxes can come with bnps and medkits can come with syringes. You can still have moments of the perk really paying off.
The wording on the perk has always stated "a rare item" so it giving purple or iri items was a bug.
No, it wasn't a bug. BHVR's wording is very specific. it says "random rare item", not "random Rare item". It doesn't give Iridescent items anymore, but it still gives Purple Very Rare items.
It says "rare" as in you won't get as many brown toolboxes and brown medkits, not "Rare" as in Rare Green items.

I've said this before, but all I was told was "depipping is still a thing so people don't AFK in a match and get a pip for no reason".
Then why not just not give pips if they don't gain any emblems? It's not that hard. Depipping doesn't only affect AFK players, it probably affects solo-queue players more than AFK players, but they still refuse to remove depipping and they just give basic replies.
Also people keep saying that "depipping is there so bad players don't reach Iridescent 1 for no reason", but they're forgetting the fact that the devs added grades to "represent time played, not skill". Grades don't affect matchmaking anymore, they're just there for the bloodpoint reward, but neither the people who want to keep the depipping or the devs seem to remember their purpose.
Also people seem to forget that 1-2 million bloodpoints is not that much. It's enough for like 40 (or less) levels (my math is a bit rusty as I haven't played the game that often recently but it's still not a lot), and you have to prestige 3 times to even get tier 3 perks on everyone. And even if it is a lot, they could just disable depipping and reduce the bloodpoint reward by like 10-20% to keep the grind at a healthy level, but healthier than it was with depipping.
To me, depipping seems like a mechanic which it's sole purpose is just to demotivate you.
I don't get why people want to grind harder. I understand grind is a necessary part of this game, and I agree, but even with the prestige update, the grind is still very hard.
-
De-pipping is useless, and only serves to annoy players, and I'm not saying this because I de-pip a lot, the only times I actually de-pip is when I get tunneled out early into a game or facecamped. I always zero-pip or get one pip at the end of every match, maybe 2 pips once every 10 games. De-pipping is just a way to show that you got killed early in the match and didn't have enough time to get all the emblems done.

I agree with you; especially as solo survivor depipping is quite often out of your control. Here's some things I do that help me that might help you.
A) As soon as I hit Iri IV every character takes Decisive Strike
B) Once I have three pips I use map offerings. The majority of the maps are survivor sided so I use offerings. At the very least, it's much harder to depip on a survivor sided map.
C) I don't run exhaustion perks most of the time and especially not before at least Gold 2. This forces me to get better at evading the killer which helps once I get Iri
D) Also, as soon as I hit three pips at Iri a med kit with good add-ons get used.
E) I wait for the killer's TR to pass or to see another survivor is being chased. and then I go to a gen. Until then, I check totem spawns so I can look for hexes and/or have the locations noted to cleanse NOED if it shows up.
F) My focus is on surviving at least nine minutes, doing at least 3 gens, and multiple heals and/or unhooks. If I escape, awesome. If I don't escape I don't care as long as I don't depip.
Once I hit Iri One I don't care what perks I run, map offerings or med kits.
Getting to Iri 1 as a solo survivor is a slog and a lot of depipping happens due to stuff out of your control so, as soon as I hit three pips, I minimize the chances of that happening.
The reason why I do all that at three pips is you're going to get strings of games where you'll just see hard camping and tunneling every game. If I worried about that at zero or one pips I'd just stop playing so only worrying about it at three pips keeps the game enjoyable for me.
Hopefully that was a bit helpful. I know some don't seem to recognize that making changes, such as eliminating depipping if grades are only meant to represent time played, would be good as it would increase enjoyment of the game and, as a video game, having fun should be a priority but I hope you find something that keeps it enjoyable for you.
Thank you for these tips. I got to Iridescent 1 on both killer and survivor in one month but then I stopped playing and forgot how to play as well as I did before, so I could use these tips to my advantage.

I believe this is incorrect. As far as I know, at worst, from silver 1 you can go all the way down to... Silver 1,with no pips. You can't drop to silver 2, let alone silver 4.
I made a mistake then. Sorry.

You're not wrong and I don't feel it would be unfair to killers as the survivor pipping system actually doesn't need to take away from the killer. In fact, both parties can have a good match - I will actually argue that if the match was decently long and the killer got 8-9 hooks, both parties played well.
However, I'm actually OK with pipping in iridescent ranks being hard - it should be difficult to get +1/+2 to some extent. And you don't have to escape to pip. Actually, as long as the killer tries to play nicely for 8-12 hooks without tunnelling, you will probably pip. The issue is that's it's not really in your hands and I think that would be balanced by black/safety pipping. That does not mean, I would not be open to survival being adjusted a little, as most of us know that escapes don't equal skill... ;-)
I'm ok with pips being hard to get in Iridescent too, it's just the lower ranks where most of the facecamps happen, that's where it'd be nicer to deal only with the facecamp and no depip.

That's all I meant as well.

From my experience I'm actually someone that defends this game a lot towards other people and someone who can find fun in the small things - I tend to set myself sub-challenges such as getting better at Demo shred, enabling Mettle of Man, things like that.
Nonetheless, this is one I have to agree with, being facecamped and depipping is my absolute pet peeve. Especially when a while back I was trying to reach Iri I as survivor for the first time (for myself, that my goal that month and for the bloodpoints). Pipping in iridescent ranks is not easy in itself as you need to really well while your team does not actually do so well - basically you need to be everywhere: doing gens, rescuing and doing/booning totems, while also escaping a couple chases, so the game needs to be long. If the other survivors are very you might not pip. I enjoyed that challenge. The biggest problem that made nigh impossible for me were the random disconnects from the server side (definitely not my internet, it wasn't always me that got chucked from the game either but it was an issue) and the facecamping.
Ok, if the solution to reliably pipping is running Decisive, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable and Deliverance whilst making sure I am not the first one to be hooked and that I get the first unhook of the game there are two issues with that:
1) This might not be the best strategy macro game wise. I had to play very selfish to reach Grade I, if I'm honest. I'm on a gen, the killer has Ruin and a teammate is in a better position to rescue? Doesn't matter - I'll go. In fact it kind of benefits me as the gen will regress and as I go back to it I will have to do more of it, getting me more lightbringer.
2) I have nearly 900 hours in this game and there no single survivor that I actually have that combination of four perks unlocked on... I play all killers aside from Spirit as well, so I have to be selective about levelling. The grind is massive. Ironically, that is the one reason I really want to pip, the bloodpoint reward might help getting more of those perks.
I absolutely agree with you. I played the same as you did to get to Iridescent 1. It was a struggle, probably more compared than to be selfish and escape every single time. Another point I'd like to make is, in my opinion, the Survival medal is too black and white. You either get an iridescent medal if you escape without being downed, gold if you got downed once, silver if you die after being alive in the trial for more than half the trial duration, and bronze/none if you die in less than half of the duration of the trial. To me, that seems a bit unfair. You could be doing a lot of things better than you team but you die and then you may not get a pip. IMO it could be an idea to make the survival time control more of the medal's quality. Say if you survive 3/4 of the trial and then you die, maybe get a gold instead of the silver. Writing this, I realize it may be unfair to killers, but that is why it's just an idea to think about, not that it should be that way.

You did not do enough to pip because the game design and the emblems are flawed.
If grades are to be representative of time played more than anything, then it's inconsistent that we could still depip on either role. Even more so when there's little a single player can do to survive a facecamp.
I understand you're not completely free to talk, because you still need to push the team's line.
But coming in here and telling us that getting punished by the game itself because you get facecamped is totally fine is the best way to alienate the players' sympathies.
Yeah I'm sorry. I came straight of my second game in row where I got facecamped in the first 10 seconds of the game and got angrier than I usually get.

What's this supposed to mean? You mean to tell me you never got angry over a videogame at least once? And while my main goal is the rank reset bloodpoint reward, facecamping is just boring to go against without any real counter if it's done at the start of the match and since it's not a bannable offense, I'd just say make it less of a pain for at least one of the two.

The problem here is you. Git Gud.
Everyone has gotten face camped, your not special and you do not deserve participation trophies for losing. Get better at looping and bring perks that help you stay alive. Oh you want to bring meme perks for meme builds, then you dont get to complaint about getting face camped that was your own fault for not taking the match seriously.
Your argument can be applied to the other side: Oh I shouldnt depip for getting gen rush and not getting any hooks/kills. Its not fair I was so close to gold from silver but they gen rushed me wahhhhhh. You know why you dont see this argument? its because its nonsense just like your original one is.
I'm going to be Ben Shapiro here for a second. Let's say, hypothetically, I was the best survivor in the game, and I am the first one to get chased. Sure, I loop perfectly and everything but I bump into one thing and I am facecamped to death with 8000 points in Boldness and 0 in every other category. What then?
And not necessarily meme builds, what if you want to try a new perk to spice up the gameplay instead of DS or BT or any other second chance perk; doesn't matter, you get facecamped.
I'm not mad about the rank, I could be Ash 4 for all I care, but the bloodpoint reward helps that grind a lot, and just having that taken away from you while the killer pips up and gets a higher bloodpoint reward is just pouring salt into the wound.
-
@Mandy said:
My personal opinion is that you have not done enough in the match to earn a pip - depipping is completely fine.
Yes being camped and your team mates not helping can suck, but that's generally considered to be part of the game and there are perks to help with that - Borrowed Time for example.
(and I'm speaking from a position where I get hard camped and mori'd a lot!)
My opinion is you shouldn't be required to have specific perks just to counter facecamping; that's just a part of how DS and BT have become and stayed meta since they were added. If you were to bring DS and BT every match in hopes that it'll save you from facecamping, then you essentially only have 2 usable perk slots, with 2 unusable because if you get facecamped ONCE it's all gone. Sometimes perks don't even help; I have DS and BT exactly for this sole purpose, but I usually try to save a teammate off a hook because I want to be altruistic (don't tell not to be alturistic that is literally one of the objectives of the game) and not let people get bored to death, the survivor I rescue doesn't get hit because the killer is smart and then I get put on the hook and my teammates don't come save me. What do I do then? I can't even get even use DS because I can't get off the hook. What am I supposed to do? Bring Deliverance to completely remove the chances of getting facecamped? What if I get tired of the build and want to use different perks and builds that require more than 1 perk slot? IMO just seems like facecamping still cannot be defeated by perks unless you want to be incredibly boring and use the same perks constantly.

@EntitySpawn said:
Honestly it's not the pip I care about but more about the items/BP.
Nothing is more annoying bringing an item with addons, maybe a map offering as you haven't seen the map in awhile and you're just camped out, basically wasting 14k BP minimum... even worse when it's my flickering ghost flashlights :(
That too. I'm just mad about the fact that facecamping is boring both for the survivor and the killer too, the survivor loses any items and they get barely any BP either, and the killer will pip if they somehow manage to facecamp 1 or 2 more survivors. If the killer pips from facecamping, at least don't take my pips.
-
Sure doesn't look like it. Play a game of survivor where you get facecamped to death from the start of the match and see how fun that is, and to add salt to the wound, let's say you're one pip away from going to Gold 4 from Silver 1 (massive difference in bloodpoint reward when rank reset hits) and then you depip for "not playing well enough".
-
Have you played a single game of survivor in your life?

@JimbusCrimbus said:
If I see an opportunity to get an upper hand, I take it. Whether that be by camping, or tunneling.
The fact is, camping only works because survivors allow it to work, and complaining that killers tunnel is the same as complaining that survivors do gens.
Let me ask you this - if I chased you off a 99'd generator, are you going to go across the map and start a new gen? That's a rhetorical question. I already know the answer is "no", as it should be. Why would you go work on a new gen when this one is almost done? Why would I chase a healthy survivor when the injured one, who is closer to death (which is my objective) is right there? It's called strategy.
In no way do I feel "scummy", nor IS it scummy. Camping and tunneling are as legitimate as doing generators in terms of strategy.
What do you mean "camping only works because survivors allow it to"? Should have the survivors played better? Are they not allowed second chances, like the game allows them to? Just because you camped a survivor to death and the 3 other survivors repaired all of the gens and escape doesn't mean it's fun and/or fair; that survivor that died lost most likely lost a pip and barely got any bloodpoints. What are they gonna do now? If the grind didn't make it hard enough for them to get bloodpoints, how is getting facecamped to death going to help them?
-
@TheArbiter said:
I thought with the new grade system you cant depip?
You can't derank, that is true, but you CAN depip. ex. You CANNOT depip from Silver 4 to Bronze 1, but you CAN depip from Silver 1 all the way down to Silver 4. Depipping is still a thing, they just made it less of an issue, but still an issue regardless, as you can still lose potential bloodpoint rewards from the rank reset; that's the annoying part.

To incentivize better play and to give Survivors a little mini-game.
The buff is essentially irrelevant, like you said. It means basically nothing.
If you played this game at least once, you would know that any second makes a difference even if it's the wiggle timer. The amount of last second hooks that can be done now with the new wiggle mechanic will be significantly lower than the amount of ones that you could do before. This mechanic was made to help people with disabilities and make wiggling less of a tiring task and more fun than it was before, not to buff wiggling. The buff just makes it inaccessible to people with disabilities in a different way. Sure, it may be small, but still a buff.
-
Here's how it goes: SWF and Killer will always vary, and any side could come out on top (mostly survivor but that's another story), but Killer will always be better than Solo-Q unless it's high MMR, but even then the lack of communication could make some aspects of the match harder to deal with.
Solo-Q and SWF win-rate shouldn't be equal just at high MMR, it should be equal at any rank.
Having to waste a perk slot on Kindred, or doing what-not to actually have a chance to win with incompetent teammates, while killer doesn't have to rely on communication and doesn't have to waste a perk slot is pretty dumb.
I've struggled way more with getting Iridescent with survivor, compared to getting Iridescent with killer, because as killer, there's no one else you need to work with to complete the objective, but as a Solo-Q survivor, you have to rely on people that cannot speak, and it's pretty hard to work with people you cannot speak in games, unless you actively know what they're doing. Trust me, I know.
The lack of communication features between Solo-Q survivors, like perhaps a quick-chat feature or Kindred being base, will most likely mean that Solo-Q will have a lower win-rate than SWF for the time being.

Cool down is better than some people in forums saying that you can only bless a totem once in a match and that’s it
No? That's literally how Hex totems work, and you don't see people complaining about it. Sure, Hex totems are more powerful than Boon totems, and making them a one-time perk like Hex totems would require some tweaking to them (like perhaps getting rid of the chime, making them just like Hex totems for survivors, and maybe adjusting their abilities or percentages), but I don't really see it as a bad idea to make it just one-time.
-
Is Insidious going to affect the new mend not decreasing in terror radius change?
Like Legion is chasing someone in Deep Wound, stands still, Insidous activates, does that mean that the Mend Timer will go down?
-
They would also have to increase the gens on the map.
5 gens with 8 survivors? No thanks.
Maybe make it 8-10?
