Well, real money is what keeps the game working. Sure I would love to get more iridescent shards too, but devs needed to be paid as well.
I feel its pretty ok in the current state : you will get enough shards to get non licenced survivors and killers for free without grinding ridiculously long, and that's better than nothing. It won't be enough for skins, but these are optional anyway.
-
As a killer, I once mori'ed a survivor with my 5th stack of devour hope. He was the first dead and it was the only time I chased him as previous required hook save happened on his teamates. Despite that, he granted me a"-rep tunneling noob with Legion" on my steam profil. I understand that getting outed on your very first chase can be annoying but that's not the definition of tunneling.
As a survivor, a killer DCed after chasing me during at most 30 secondes (and with 5 gen remaining). Then he also gave me a "-rep toxic looping survivor, reported" on my profil. Like... what was I supposed to do ? I didn't tbag, didn't emote him, didn't blind him, didn't even palet stun him as far as I remember... at this point, every survivor he face must be toxic.
Anyway, I have also seen some very nice people in end chat or Steam, so that's ok. :)
-
Fair but the bloodshot eye only cost 2k BP and you can get a 50k BP giveway almost every day.
So you have to buy at least 25 of them just to negate the almost daily free BP giveaway. And that's without counting the fact this event has a BP bonus for any game regardeless of the role you pick.
Sure its unfortunate that the event's offering is bugged, but you can still get massive amount of BP without doing much. Its a bit unfair to ask for a BP refund while you can still get so much easily. Plus, the event isn't over yet, so we might have a chance to use the bloodshot eye in the end.
-
We just got 1 million BP for free recently.
-
I don't really see the problem either. If you trigger OTR's endurance, that mean you were tunneling or that the survivor didn't do anything usefull for its duration prior to your hit.
And even in the case of a body block, you can hit your way trought and pursue your initial chase without loosing to much ground on that first survivor.
-
Both Knight and Dredge, but Dredge mostly.
Dredge is pretty strong without being overpowered, his addons are nice overall, and his gameplay is very satisfying.
-
Evil within, skilled huntress and outbreak are insulting...
But overall, achievements in DBD are bad. Everyone keeps mentionning FOMO, but every adept requires you to own the character to get them. Prepare your wallet if you want to hunt them.
Sure, there are worst offenders than DBD for that kind of bs (Payday for exemple), but still.
-
Mimic power would probably be bad sadly : useless against a Swf, not even great against soloQ.
-
What is so overpowered about Knight ¿
-
I started playing DBD only for Legion's lore, and they are still my favorite up to this day.
Legion has a lot of thing I like gameplay wise : their power is really easy to use, really consistant and give both info and slow down.
The fact that you almost always have to rely on basic M1 to get downs isn't problematic either as it force you to go for mind games. Legion don't get free downs most of the time, you have to work to get them.
Legion can also get value from almost every perks from the game where M2 killers mostly can't. And some of his addons can get mad synergy with some perks.
So even if hit and run is their base gameplay, you can play Legion way more differently than killers like PH or Knight for exemple.
And that's without mentionning non gameplay element as their look, chase team, 4 members, and so on.
-
Knight is not only playable, but he is also quite fun to play !
His power is kinda weird as using it in a chase isn't easy or very effective. But if you use aura perks (or good guesses), you will be able to double task with him, and that is really satisfying. Nothing like chasing two survivors at once.
Knight is a chill killer to play : not too complicated nor demanding, yet decently strong, without being overpowered.
As said by others : his addons are almost useless, except "map of the realm", which is mandatory. "Call to arms" is also very good, tho it can be switch for something else.
Btw, I don't get why people still hate playing against. I like versing the Knight and his 3 gening is no longer as strong as it use to be.
-
A function like that would also increase MMR time for players who picked up a unpopular killer " :
"You like playing Knight ¿ Well that's too bad, half the survivor base have blocked that killer. "
-
Cheryl for survivor of course, silent hill 3 is a very good game.
For killers, both Julie and Susie, tho I'm biased toward Legion's members.
-

34 / 48 Weskers? That's a 70.83% ratio. So either you were incredibly unlucky (which can happen) or something is off here because this is not Wesker's pick rate. Not even close.
Agreed on that : I see Wesker more than some other killers, but certainely not that often...
-
I'll just add a tips : don't over use your power while chasing someone as you will most likely loose them while drawing your guard's path. Drop them instantly at a loop to force them to leave, but that's about it during a chase.
Insted, you wan't to use your power to surprise survivors. Draw it to a gen and listen carefully when close to it : if you hear repair noise, left clic it to make them chase, if you don't hear any repair noise, ask your guard to kick the gen.
Map of the realm is outstanding at this because not only it make the guard radius bigger, but it also make is spand quicker, making it impossible to dodge for the survivor.
-
They are probably testing the formula, to see if it works or not. I also think this is why they start with that kind of gamemod and not straight with a 2 vs 8 : it simpler to do, while letting devs test how sucessful it can be.
1 week is really short, but if it work, we can expect it to come back, with better tweaks to make it better.
I'm OK with it, something short is still better than nothing, plus it kinda give the old DBD vibe with darker maps, filled with fog.
-
I'm really interested to see how it's going to play !
I have always been upset to see that new reworked maps were too bright, loosing their sinister mood when getting reworked (and that's when they were not during actual daylight). While it's not exactly the same, at least we get something darker that has the deep and black fog which is always mention in lore.
It looks both eerie and unnatural, which is kinda what DBD's world should look like imo. I'm definitively going to look forward this !
-
While your idea isn't bad at all, I'm not sure it would be very healthy for the game if it was working for every escape. The killer already get punished quite heavily for letting a survivor wiggleling free/flashlight saved : he gets stunned plus have to chase the survivor again.
If that survivor was healed on top of that, that would mean that the killer would have lost any benefit of the full chase he had done and won before, which is quite tough for a single mistake on his part.
I think it might be more fair if it only proc when you wiggle free from the killer's grasp (and not when getting saved by a palet, a flashlight, and so on) because most of the time, it only happen thanks to teamate takings hits for you. Would also punish a bit killers that heavely tunnel as sometime, teamates even go down to prevent the killer from hooking you.

I always thought Feng was her first name... well that's akward.

I also feel like his caging should not bypass perks. Caging itself saves a lot of time, you don't have to waste time picking up, carrying and hooking, as well as risk sabo plays, taking hits etc. And the torment, besides the caging, allows for the mini-mori. That's already a great advantage.
Cages not applying hook perks only makes the tunneling easier.
Cages also prevent PH from using hook related perks (pain res, BBQ, flood of rage) so that's also detrimental for him. I guess it's a fair trade : no risk taken when caging, but no perk value either.

It used to be a map which I really liked.
I remember how beautiful it used to look:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7SFDTGL2L4J8/image.png
It was magnificent. I was used to its loops and advantages, so I liked to get it. Slightly more as survivor than killer.
But now I can't stand to look at it. That... wasteland is not Disturbed Ward, and it never will be.
I agree fully. The old lightening and fog of DBD use to look so much better than the current one we got with each realm beyond update. The graphics might be better, but the ambiance is lost...
I don't know wich one is worst : disturbed ward or Coldwind ¿ They are so bright and dull now, it's a real shame. We can't even see the moon anymore, when it was supposed to be the only light source... I don't get why they didn't stick with their original art direction.
As you said, if only they would release an optional pack to have old lightening and fog... I would even pay for it, and I wouldn't mind if it gives me a disavantage over people having the current lightening.
Anyway. Back to the topic I guess : map is okay gameplay wise. Not perfect, but not problematic either. I don't think it really favor killers nor survivors more.

Alright, so I haven't restarted DBD yet to try out (I will in private match to test things up without eating the penalty), but I have found the error code that cause the crash : the code is likely something like "Kernel-Power 41 (63)" :
The hours of errors match with the time when i crashed.
I've red on an other thread that someone had similar crashes and solve them by changing their power supplie, but from what I see, that error can occurs from other kind of problem (overcloaking, memory errors or even side softwares).
I'll continue looking for a solution.
-
I didn't got enough time to see it when it crashed with the BSOD sadly : it didn't went for the 100 %, it made the blue screen then instantly restarted at 0%... I'll try to see the error message next time it crash that way.
Rest of crashes, my PC just froze so they were no stop code.

Wow. Just...wow. In the match I just played, the bots displayed just how useless Legion's power really is. The bots all separated so far from Legion that I could never get more than two hits in before the power ended. Now granted I was able to zone them out fairly well and get them down, but as far as getting five consecutive hits was concerned? Forget about it. Had I been facing a decent squad of real players, they would have walked all over me.
There are some killers that can be devastating all on their own, and then there are others that have to rely on strong perks, and unfortunately Legion really does fall into the latter. Personally I think his rework wasn't strong enough.
I was amazed too by how well bots counter Legion's FF. As soon as you use it, they all run in different direction. I would get a two stabs at best when I was lucky. xD
But I don't think Legion need change tho, bots have weird insight : they know exactly when FF is active or not, they know exactly when bloodwarden is up or not etc. Even in SWF, people don't have that precise knowledge and have to take guesses. So Legion's FF still works decently against human players.

De-pipping isn't logical to me at all. You're supposed to do certain actions to gain pips, which means once you've done it and thus gained a pip, you're supposed to do something else to gain the next one. Why are you losing something you've already earned?
If they wanted you to do something several times in a row, they should've written that instead, and left the whole pipping and whatnot out of the equation.
It was logical when rank were doing the MMR. Nowadays, it doesn't make anysense to keep it, but for some reason, devs only removed the grade loss and not the pip loss.
I doubt they'll change it ever again sadly. :/

No you won't get 3 consistently, that's apart of the game. You're going to lose sometimes. As far as getting the Lightbringer emblem (because that's what you're talking about when you mention gens), you should take the time and study how emblems work.
I know how emblems works and what needs to be done. It just that you can't do anything against DC, suicide on hooks, tunnel, camping, AFK etc. And you'll most likely going to loose a pip if it happen in the game.
@Osmose said:
There‘s actually a very easy way to get to iri 1 in Solo Q. Low MMR. It is possible to always pip without escaping. Even in iri grades.
I’d only escape through hatch. Most of the time I die because those random megs wait at the exit gate till the last second 🥰. But it’s fine, because in low mmr you always get to do everything.
Is it unfair If you tank your mmr? Yes. But is it fun and enjoyable? Totally. Unless you like those sweatfests.
But mind you.. you will have special teammates if you play on low mmr.. very special 😂
Edit: facecamping bubbas are rare down here. Very rare! 🥰
Well we don't really know at which MMR we are. And correct me if I'm wrong, but now MMR gain or loose rank depending of the team's result and not longer on your own survival. I won't prevent my teamates from escaping if they can, so no more tanking MMR. Plus I don't think going intentionaly against way less experienced players is a healthy thing for the game.

I got there a week ago (as I do every month I actually play) without too much trouble... some things I can suggest:
Don't do the first gen you spawn by but rather go for crossing the map to work on a gen where the killer likely spawned in. The idea is to get your gen points (Lightbringer emblem) safely out of the way early on. Next is run We'll Make It so you can get full heals off as well as the save which leaves your final part of the match - chases.
I used to be quite shy as far as taking chases but if you tend to avoid the killer you will struggle to rank up easily. Even if you run at the killer to technically get in chase then run towards ultra safe areas of the map where there are not gens, the killer will likely drop chase if they are smart and you will 'win' that chase so you get more points towards the evader emblem.
So long as you ensure you do a bit of each you should be fine and even with DC's I can still at least safety pip if I don't just give up and go next, which I still do fairly often when the match is pointless
Going for the furthest gen is a nice idea, I didn't though about it, I'll try.
@Lost_Boy said:
The fact that the grade means nothing and it's just a show for how many points you'll get on the 13th is something that shouldn't be in the game anymore.
As a killer it can force you to play sweatier killers and perks until you get Ir1. Especially at Ir ranks because it's painfully slow due to not getting merciless killer that often.
They should just remove it from the game and average out the time it takes players and give some bonus BP per game. It would make the game more healthy, as people wouldn't feel the need to play sweaty until they got Ir1. This is particularly true for killers. If you have like 1 pip to go until next rank you might decide to tunnel one person to secure the win just for the sake of needing 1 pip. If that wasn't a thing you probably wouldn't do it.
I agree. At iri grade, it's best to go for the sweatiest build possible (both survivor and killer), but it isn't fun for anyone against it, and it's even more frustrating when it doens't work.
@TheSubstitute said:
I definitely understand. Getting Iri One as solo survivor is the most frustrating thing in DbD because of depipping and so much that can cause you to depip is not under your control.
I do make it most months and I've found the following helpful:
(a) I mainly use meme and non meta builds until I'm at two pips in an Iri grade. At two pips I switch to a more meta build. Meta is meta for a reason and if your MMR is set at non meta numbers then it's easier to escape and pip up until your MMR catches up.
(b) I stockpile map offerings for maps I'm good at. As soon as I hit two pips I play them until I either hit the next grade or depip to one pip (at which point I reset).
(c ) Always run OTR or other anti-tunneling perks at Iri. Tunneling Killers are a bane to pipping at Iri. That's why I run Deliverance, OTR and Sprint Burst myself at two pips into Iri grade. You can outrun even a facecamping Bubba on your first hook and give yourself a decent chance of at least a safety pip that match.
I hope that helps
I use a bit a all in my build : OTR for tunneling, We'll make it for quick heals after saves, Prove thyself for progressing gen and Windows of opportunity for chase. If I need a specific perk, I remove Prove Thyself as it don't help with the emblem by itself. I never use map offering as I hate them, plus I don't really feel most of the time I've lost because of the map itself.
For MMR, I really think it doesn't work the way it supposed to for survivor : I've face absolut monsters and then the next match, a fully new killer player. Since their is longer queue time for killer, I think the MMR goes wider for them and match with pretty much all survivors it can find ready. It's actually rare to have a match where the killer's skill feels around the survivor's team skill level. Killers are usually way better or way worse than us.

3 CHES (3 cheese)
- 3 Cleanses (more points for hex totems, but enough from dull totems)
- 3 Heals (Healing others)
- 3 Escapes (Escape chases)
- 3 Saves (Safe Saves)
When you finish this task list in each match then win or lose chances are you are double pipping, pipping, or black pipping (at later levels). In the early levels you are guaranteed to pip or double pip.
Getting 3 of that consistently is the problem my good sir. Lots of situation (out of our controle ofc) make it impossible to do that. Plus you forgot about gens, you need 250 % worth of progress on it. A bit less if you did some bones before.
-
If you are at iri ranks, that's a loss pip. Should have play better I guess !

@Sonzaishinai said:
this helps alot
other then that it's mostly a issue of time and luck
Getting to iri 1 for me is hard cause i just don't play enough each month, especially seeing how i play both sides.
I would have to ditch killer for a month if i want a chance
Your video sumurise quite well, the problem is that you can loose pips on unlucky games. Depending of the killer, you won't be able to do 250 % gen's worth of progress easily. Best scenario is if the killer start chasing your teamates first, but it's a matter of luck. If your teamates are killing themselves on hooks, DCing, if the killer camps or tunnel's you, their is little you can do to prevent that.
@Jangles said:
Just play heaps, If you can loop well then carry. Otherwise you need to run around playing support. Get 2 hooks, do 2 gens, get 2 decent chase and you'll pip/safety a majority of the time.
When you sweat it out you should be averaging ~25k per game to be able to pip consistently.
I still do 25K BP pretty often, and while it was enough to pip consistently until iri grade, it's seems no longer true. I had almost no trouble reaching gold 1, but now, even when sweating, most of the time I get black pip. I got like 4 pips during the games I played, but lost then during less lucky games.

These days you cannot derank even if you de-pip, so it is much more forgiving. I think the threat of pip loss adds tension, which makes it interesting. I like having something on the line.
Pips only have power if you pay attention to them. I highly encourage you to forget they exist and never hover your pointer over your grade to see where you are. Just play and do your best without being hard on yourself.
I would totaly agree with your mindset if I wasn't aiming for the Iri 1 achievement. Once you have it, sure you won't care anymore because it's nothing more than BP. It is exactly what I do for killer since I already hit Iri 1 once. But when you try to go for the achivement, you have to think about it because you only have 30 days to do it.
@RoastedGarlic said:

you shouldn't de-pip because you couldn't get the required heals or saves because you had 2 team mates dc on you or suicide on hook. There is no tension in being screwed over because you have babies on your team.
Here I fully agree : as I said a bit before, if you fall against a inifinite T3 Myers or something like that, you can say good bye to your pip because he won't hook or even hurt survivors. So only gen and chase remain to get at least 9 pips to secure black pip. And that's without talking about your teamates giving up because they don't like the killer, went down first, got accidentaly sandbag, got DC by their internet or straight up tunneled out the game.
@IWantCandys said:
I've only been in Iri ranks once as a survivor. Iri IV. 3 months after I bought the game. After that never again. I stopped caring.
I've found that focusing on pips is extremely unhealthy for me.
I went into every single match with tension, almost fear that something outside of my control would happen that would cost me my previously hard-earned pips.
When I was close to the finish line and only one match away from progressing to the next level, and then something that wasn't my fault caused me to de-pip, I felt miserable. Angry, sad, depressed.
Then everything started all over again. In every match I only thought about pips, which put me in a state of constant stress. Which I also noticed physically. Do you know that feeling when you are nervous before an important appointment? That uncomfortable feeling of pressure in your stomach, trembling, sweaty hands? That was a permanent condition in every single match when pips still bothered me.
Then I stopped caring and realized that I can play so much more freely. No more anxiety about the outdated pip system.
1 million bp ? Nice reward, but honestly. I can earn them in normal matches in not even a long time. Playing to Iri 1 takes longer than earning 1 million BP in normal matches. Since the rework, where the blood web has become cheaper and you unlock all perks for every character with prestige 1, BP are no longer as important to me as they used to be.
Meanwhile, my focus is on shards and rift fragments for fancy cosmetics. I earn both by playing casual games without much effort and stress. Even if I can't get a lot of stuff done in one match, I still get shards and fragments.
I don't get past silver ranks most of the time, and I don't care.
What does rank mean? Nothing. Matchmaking is unaffected by this and doesn't work as it should no matter what you do.
Yeah, it gets unhealthy quickly to go for pips, especially since you only have 30 days. Which is why I think the depip mechanic should go. It would still require you around 100 games in a single month to get it, still a hudge time investment so it would remain fair.
As for the 1 million BP, I have already been able to fully level up 3 time my character, so I probably gain around 3 million BP by just playing toward gold 1. So yeah, thanks for the BP reward, but it's kinda meh. x)
@killer_hugs said:
i mostly play solo queue and before 6.1 it was easy. all you had to do was spend some time on a gen, take the killer on at least one good chase, and make a hook save or two. maybe you don't pip without the escape, or maybe you do. but unless you were tunneled out of the game early you're not going to depip.
now it just seems incredibly frustrating to get anywhere because more often than not someone dcs or suicides on hook early. killers chase less and chases are generally much shorter regardless. chases are more difficult, generators take longer, killers camp+tunnel extensively, survivors constantly dcing, all of that means not only is it harder to pip but you're actually more likely to depip due to things out of your control.
Yeah, I wish I would have done it ealier. :/ I've seen a lot a people saying "easy, just play the game and you'll get it". It was probably true, but it doesn't seems to be the case anymore.

You both might be surprised, but back in a days, before MMR, you even could derank yourself if you depip while having zero pips on your grade :)
I start playing during late 2020, so I had some experience with old rank's MMR. Tho I was a much worse player back then, so I never went farther than rank 7 as killer and around 10 as a survivor. I still remember that you would just go down to the previous color during rank's reset. They could have keep that instead of the depip. x)

That's exactly why I haven't really pushed for it. If I got to Iri 3 again maybe I'd then properly start trying to get it but otherwise it's just too much frustration.
I'm thinking about saving myself the frustration as well but stopping at iri 4. It still the Gold 1 achievement taken, so I won't have done all the farm from previous days for nothing I guess.
-
Lmao, why the hell did they let the depip mechanic on ? x)
Just getting a bit harder to pip would be enough, without being infuriating each time you loose some for unlucky reason / some playstyle. Sadly, my friends playing with me are less experienced that I am, and from the top of my 700 hours in the game, that's seems not enough

@ColonGlock said:
If you keep playing it will eventually happen. Just do your best and try not to force it as that just makes it frustrating.
Yeah, I'm not full tryharding and I'm okay with not getting it in time, I'm not looking for the 100% achivemements on DBD, but it is frustrating to invest some time and effort just to get no reward at the end.
It's kinda triggering tho that devs let the old rank system almost untouched despite the fact it now is just for BP and achivement. Just removing the depip mechanic would make it perfectly fine.
-
Took you 156 game to get it from gold 1 EvilSerje ¿
Well, I aint ready for that. Played a bit today and manage to get 1 pip and two black pips... Worse in that is I didn't played that bad on both black pip attempt, I just got 1 point away from the pip each time.
I don't know if a keep trying or if I choose to save my sanity right now. I enjoy the game, but at this rate, I'm gonna be burnt before the grade reset.
I'm going to try to look for a SWF. At least, that sould prevent all suicide on hook, DC, selfcaring in a corner, etc etc.

Fully agree on that. It's like they forgot to remove it when they removed grade loss.
Considering you already require around 80 games to get to Iri in just month, the pip loss mechanic is like a spit to the face. Especially since it has nothing to do with MMR anymore.
