If I'm playing a shooter game, it should be skill versus skill. It would not be fair that my enemy has three AI minions to help in his fight against me.
You have 3 actual players to help in your fight against him...
As for Pinhead he's managable. You choose where and when you are solving the box. Solve it at a place with a strong loop or far away from gens and he'll regret teleporting to you.
Solve it while he's carrying someone and he won't be able to teleport at all without giving up his hook
-
Ruin effect is so minimal that i think it's almost better to not cleanse it even if you find it.
The chances of triggering haunted/penti or allowing killers to use better kicking perks if for some reason they are running both is not worth getting rid of ruin especially seeing how it goes away by itself when a survivor dies
Better to just push gens to make sure only a single one needs to be done by the time ruin deactivates itself
-
They usually like to sit thing for a couple of months so the players can get used to the balance
There might be a hotfix but those are for... wel hotfixes
Don't expect any nerfs outside of bugfixes
-
It does make me wonder how far these tombs are made in advance

Do they have Halloween? Do they have RE? Silent Hill? NoES? SAW? Texas Chainsaw? They don't.
Gta san andreas is the only gta game
Don't bother giving me other games if they don't have CJ and Big Smoke in it.
A game can only belong to a genre if it has specific characters and all of those specific characters after all

Ok, show me the ones that have all the horror licenses, I'll wait
... evil dead is a horror licence.
Besides that's not what you said, you said there were no options.
There are. Ofcourse if you are going to be picky that's your own doing. If you want horror licenses then you have to deal with what dbd is

Hmmm... A desperation bonus you say? This idea sounds kind of cool to me. It would require a LOT of testing, but it sounds interesting. Killer can take someone out toward their objective, but at a cost if someone is tunneled out. Though what if everyone has been hooked twice, it's 1 gen left, and now the three do things even faster? Would there be a safety against the desperation bonus happening if someone wasn't actually tunneled out and everyone has had their turns on the hook? don't want to punish a killer for making a kill when he hasn't in fact tunneled anyone.
Yeah it's not fool proof to say the least
It's honestly probably something they have tried before and scrapped
-
I don't think that making perks to hardcounter tunneling is the way to go. That just means you have to have those perks at all times.
I would rather go for the reason tunneling is happening. Turning the game into a 3v1 assap is just way to benificial.
Give survivors a desperation bonus to repair speed for every survivor killed will make killers think twice before killing a survivor without even hooking the others once.
It will still be a option but atleast the remaining survivors will still have a fighting chance
-
Overal i'm a fan of adding a negative to a powerfull effect as it opens more creativity.
You can add effects that normally would be to powerfull on their own without having to worry about it going out of control
That being said
Not making noise while opening a chest/cleansing a totem or not making a explosion while missing a skillcheck aren't exactly the thing i'm thinking of when i say powerfull effects
-
I wouldn't mind seeing them basekit but i would never go back to bbq even if the stacks came back.
After thinking about it and going through some numbers bbq just wasn't the huge impact people thought it was.
It made a big difference that's for sure but not that much that i would lose 1/4th of a build over it anymore.
Between rank rewards, daillies archives, offerings, login rewards, etc... a lot of the bp we earn was not affected by bbq.
For most casual people i'm pretty sure over half of the bp is earned outside of bbq control.
Especially with the new 40k limit it's really not making that big of a difference

Almost like there is no other game of the genre to switch to. I feel like you're making this thread out of bad faith almost like a "gotcha" but it's not as good as you might think.
That's not really an argument anymore. There are tons of games in this genre now.
Evil dead is not out that long and VHS is in early acces now if i'm not mistaken.
It's not that there are no alternatives. It's that DbD is just better. For all the issues it has. At the core it's just a supersolid game

Legions are running Thana and three other slowdowns. So is Plague, so is Pinhead. People defend this patch because they like pubstomping. It's not about balance, fun, skill vs skill. It's about pubstomping, that's they want.
I'm not
I'm like running stuff like brutal strenght and fire up or information perks
People still give up the moment i have the slightest advantage or they run into a situation old dh would have saved them
-
Atleast they are playing against people who use the best of the best
I'm playing Legion, Trapper or ghostface with zero slowdown and people are also just giving up.
I'm going out of my way to make it as fair as possible. Atleast frickin try
-
Some of the slowdown perks need a slight nerf, they didn't need to be double buffed
An incentive to not get a player out of the game instantly. Something simple as giving a desperation bonus repair speed of 20-30% or so when a survivor dies that will make it a little more risky to get someone out of the game while ignoring the others instead of making it the clear optimal route

"I am a main killer so i will not lie, i might be kinda based"
Can killer mains stop giving their unwarranted opinions on an issue affecting SURVIVORS.
We're telling you solo queue is in a bad spot and you're responding with "Well actually as a killer here's all the reasons it's not."
Do you not realise how biased this is?
What a dumb "Us vs Them" take
Just cause killers are on the opposing side doesn't mean they are playing a different game.
If anything the killer interacts more with your soloq teammate then you do. When your teammate goes down you can only speculate what happened. The killer is the one who sees how a survivor DC's after getting mindgamed once. The killer is the one who sees your teammate sprint bursting into a rock for the entire duration and then kill themself on hook. The killer is the one who hears your teammate missing 5 skillchecks in a row.
I didn't hear any complaints from you when survivors gave their opinion about CoH when it released.
The irony of you calling killer mains biased while simultaneously saying they are not allowed to have a opionion about the game they are seeing with their own eyes is just sad.
Yes soloq needs buffs, yes the latest patch swung the balance a bit too hard in the other direction but op makes a good point. A lot of survivor would get much further if they actually tried instead of throwing in the towel the second something goes wrong. It's painfully obvious a lot of players are not where they are suppose to be
-
You are throwing so many creative oppertunities away if you only buff a side and never debuff a side
You kinda answered it already but yes this is a horror game. I atleast enjoy stuff like that.
I can't imagine how bland a clown would be if his gasses didn't blur your vision and he couldn't actually debuff survivors but only speed himself up.
If you don't like that that's 100% valid ofcourse but that's more a DbD isn't for you problem then a DbD problem
-
Most people come to the forums to vent so probably not.
Survivors that are enjoying the patch just won't come to the forum.
My survivor matches are enjoyable too outside of people giving up but i don't think my survivor mmr is that big so my experience doesn't really count
-
Sprint burst is probably one of the most versatile overall.
Lithe is i think a close second.
Dead hard is far from dead but does require really good timing and knowledge of when killers swing. You need to be good but against killers who telegraph their attacks like blight or nurse it's still strong
Balanced honestly isn't bad either but very map dependend
I'm still of the oppinion that Overcome is close to the worst exhaustion perks in the game

The thing is, when you run regression is because you're preparing yourself against good teams, but in the mean time you stomp 10 regular teams just in case you get a 4 man SWF. And probably if you don't have regression, you'd get rekt when you face them. So it's mostly a matter of maximizing your chances.
I agree that the balance has shifted and some fine tuning is needed but you really can't complain about having too easy games if you go full sweat.
You're saying games are to easy but you pick the best of the best because you're scared you might get a hard game. Isn't that's a bit silly?

Explore our porfolio of bold, high-quality games for every platform. PC, console, mobile, and more. Dead by Daylight, Deathgarden, Game of Thrones, etc.
Just their website tbh. It's not exactly a well kept secret, they have a couple of games shown they worked on
"Our successful development history includes multiple partnerships alongside the entertainment industries’ finest brand owners, and creators."
On top of that they also promote a healthy work enviroment above all.
That other companies seem to do more in the same timeframe is because bhvr doesn't work their employees to the bone.
This community is quick to talk bad about bhvr but they are honestly closer to what should be the norm.

That’s true. But also you can think then that pentimento for example is a 120% decrease speed, thana is 60%,..
You have a very weird idea about how the math works. 30% slowdown across all survivors is still 30% slowdown. You don't add them up like that
100% slowdown would mean you can't make progress at all. 120% slowdown would probably crash the game

ds needs to go back to 5 seconds
I hope that it will stay 3 seconds but the survivor gets a speedboost so they still can make distance.
Overall same or maybe more distance then before but killers spend less time twiddling their thumbs
-
To be fair it took people like a year or 2 to realise how strong dead hard for distance is

idk im just running random crap. Sometimes a spellcaster build, sometimes a Breakout build. New Distortion is pretty cracked. Alert is good. Second Wind is neat. Lucky Break can be powerful
With Iron Will being taken down a notch, you might start to see more Bite the Bullets.
I am very intriged by what a spellcaster build is.
Is it just pebble and you shout "I cast rock!" Every time you use it?

900 people is not small.
Behavior does a lot of outsourcing if i'm not mistaken so the mayority of their employees aren't working on DbD
Did you really just read the first sentence and ignore all the rest?
-
A really cool idea i saw on the forums was that if a survivor uses a tape to remove their curse it spreads 1 bar to all other survivors.
Only way to break the curse is to spread it and stuff.
Also the amount of time to get a bar of condemned while holding a tape should be 24 seconds for fluff reasons
24 seconds 7 bars, cmone why wasen't this a thing

It's weird how such a big company with so much money doesn't have a dedicated QA team that actually works.
BHVR team that works on DbD is relativelly small.
Behavior does a lot of outsourcing if i'm not mistaken so the mayority of their employees aren't working on DbD and those who do are split between normal and mobile.
I could be wrong about this but i think that's the gist of it
Wouldn't surprise me if the budget they are allowed to use would also be relattively small
-
Thana at full power makes gens take about 115 seconds so it adds about 25 seconds to a gen now
So 35 seconds longer then prepatch gens. Prepatch thana added 20 seconds at full power so it almost doubled. It's a tad much

OTR is almost 100%
Lucky Break feels pretty good and consistently let me drop the first chase easily.
And after that it becomes a bit complicated.
Sprint Burst or Lithe (Sprint Burst is better but more difficult to use properly). DH isn't out yet but it feels too difficult to use well.
And on the still-to-be-sorted-out pile, there is:
Hope, Lightweight, Quick & Quiet, Dance with me on one side.
Breakout, WGLF on the other. Maybe with saboteur too but I'd rather use a toolbox at the moment.
Depending on the desired role.
It does seem to be that losing chase is going to be more important then lasting longer in chase
I hope i see more tricky houdini type builds. Those are fun to play
-
I agree that the buffs were a bit much and some things need to be toned down a bit
That said
If you choose to play a team based game you should be willing to accept to lose because of bad teammates. Just as you would eagerly accept getting carried by a exceptional one.

Yeah, but that was kinda the whole idea behind DS, so you wouldnt want to tunnel or you'd get punished with a 5 second stun. If you get a super short stun, then what really is the deterrence behind tunneling? As a dev you want tunneling to be less useful, but you dont want chasing the next survivor to be too easy.
Personally, I'd say that a temporary, but very powerful hinderance effect rather than a stun would be much more impactful. You could still move around a bit, but even mobility killers wouldnt be able to catch up(unless Nurses blinks are just an animation rather than actual speed, which I kinda suspect due to the distance addons)
Yeah nurse blinks are animations that wouldn't work.
The point of DS was to give the tunneled survivor a fighting chance
Speedboost + 3 second stun would do that too
Probably even better then the 5 second stun depending on how long you make the speedboost
-
Honestly standing still for 5 seconds was kinda lame. It feels way better now
But the survivors can't make any distance whatsoever
I would say 3 second stun but the survivor gets a speedboost so they can actually get away. If you can't get outside a nurse blink then what's the point
Less killer downtime and survivor have some defence against tunneling
-
@Fantasy said:
50 extra seconds...minimum.
If people split up on gens it isn't
3 people doing gens sepperatly and finishing it only is a 10 seconds difference from before the patch
-
As a killer i find the decicive change to be terrible to be honest.
I like that i'm not locked into place for 5 seconds but the survivors don't make any distance at all whatsoever.
I'd say keep the 3 second stun but give the survivor a speed boost for a bit so they can actually get away.
-
Complaints happen every patch and it just happens that it's one of the biggest patches they made so the outcry is equally bad.
In a couple of weeks we'll go back to the normal amount of complaining and a couple or weeks after that the devs will probably fine tune some of the changes they made

Hi I've been summoned with some maths
Working on a generator from 0 with 4 stacks of Thanatophobia (T3) and Hex: Pentimentio active (T3) grants 22% slowdown for Thana and 30% slowdown for Pentimento. This totals to roughly 164.84 seconds per generator, not factoring in regression, blocking, or Pentimento/Thana activating partway through or Thana not being at 4 stacks constantly.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WCJFQX1FVGX8/image.png
Not the most common scenario but a Plague using Shattered Hope, Hex: Plaything, Hex: Pentimento, and Thanatophobia can achieve this with alarming consistency.
As a side note this combo made gens take 142.85 seconds before the update
So 22 seconds or almost a quarter of a gen more.
Double buffing slowdown perks by upping their vallue and increasing the base gen time was just way to much
-
You are the grown up version of the kid that reminded the teacher that they haven't given homework yet.
In all seriousness this is great if it works as intended. It blows whatever bbq did out of the water if people are willing to play both roles which they should
-
Iron will no. That perk gave way to much for to little
DS should be reverted. If you don't have time to get outside of a nurses blink range then what's the point?
-

-
I think the game is in a much better state now. Surviving is harder but that was kinda the whole point right?
There are some glaring issues like regression perks getting double buffed by the increased gen times+normal buff (thana being the biggest offender) but overall a big improvement
Regression perks need to be toned down a bit to accustom to the new gen times and the top s killers need to be looked at now the excuse of they are the only viable ones is kinda off the table
I'll haven't played that much so my thoughts might change over the course but i feel it's 100% a net positive

Pls check if the Legion is running thana before throwing, some of us are cool

Says the blight main
nurses and blights rejoice, they’ve risen a tier to SS+ tier
Nurses and blights are the only killers who don't get to rejoice cause the new deadhard is better against them.
If the survivor can time it ofcourse
