  • Sprint Burst, DS, Borrowed Time have all been nerfed, a lot more than killer perks.

  • I would rather play Myers so I can stalk when I want to :). No cooldowns

Not really. The bar for winning is 3-4 survivors who are decent at looping, have decent game knowledge, have meta perks, and actually do gens. Even a 1 minute chase should be costing the killer 3 gens but it rarely does.

Considering most red rank survivors are extremely boosted and could get bodied by an M1 killer in the first 30 seconds of the game I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them to lose.

Im forced to run multiple gen perks as killer if I want a game longer than 5 minutes(unless I’m playing a BS killer like nurse); so if survivors want to bring in the cutesy perks like head on and deception they should have to make up for it in skill instead of relying on the usual second chance perks.

But instead they complain about camping and tunneling when there’s clear answers to both. Tons of maps are still pallet town and M1 killers have very little answer to it if the survivors have even the slightest idea of what they are doing.

But a boosted killer could down a survivor within 30 secs. There's a lot of boosted killers as well, propped up with gen perks, aura perks and even killer sided maps with deadzones.

  • If there is too many survivors, why are killers queues not always instant? They are slow too.

  • This is because killers are way overpowered for this false observation. Too many survivor nerfs and too many killer buffs. The bar is too high. A 4 man coordinated SWAT team should never be required to be on equal footing with the killer or having a chance to succeed.

  • A 1-shot shouldn't be able to hold for so long with no penalty or cooldown. He has almost no cooldown after destroying a pallet which means there is not enough time to find another pallet. I know his killrates must be astronomical now.

  • You know a perk is bad when it needs 3 other perks to barely have a chance to be used.

  • If Iron Will reduces sounds completely, then Stridor shouldn't magically amplify zero sound. The devs should fix that with Iron Will and it will be fine counter to spirit.

  • Nobody knows how their previous match had went. Maybe it was a rank 1 freddy or something to that effect and it struck a nerve and they decided to bring some goods. Nobody knows until it is over the rank level each player so they most likely played as though it was a very experience rank 1.

You were a rank 7, you should not have expected to win though. If you did, that would have been a red flag.

What about when all 4 survivors are competent? Why is it an issue for killers to stomp on average survivors, but 4 good survivors being able to dominate all but 2 killers is fine? Why is requiring survivors to improve such a bad thing? If you are a good survivor, you know that most killers are a joke mechanic wise to face, and that most killer players are actually not even very good. They just happen to be slight better, or on par with most survivors. It's just that survivor is less rewarding at low skill level than killer. I really don't see the issue with the 1 in the 4 vs 1 being stronger. The survivors should have to try more. I say this as a competent 50/50 player as well.

Also here are the kill rates for all ranks: https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/68NFHE5K59C2/image.png

Here is kill rates for red ranks: https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VV799GPBPFZF/image.png

My percentages are not off. I didn't specify red ranks only because there are more ranks than just red.

What defines good? I believe in order to be good, all four must spend their life playing the game and use discord to win. Then, they finally win against an average killer. A good killer might kill 1 or 2 of them and it is still believed the killer is weak because they happened to opened the gates. Too much is expected from the 4 to win or be on equal footing with the killer. What's wrong with the killer trying harder? Why couldn't it feel good to actually kill someone instead of it being "expected"?

Regarding the rates, red ranks are most important because on average, everyone there knows the basics of the game. Doctor and Freddy kills 3 out of 4 every single match. I bet most of those few escapes are hatches or key escapes. Not good.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1894282#Comment_1894282

Why are most killers "braindead" easy to win with? Is it because the killers are actually too strong, or is it because most survivors just aren't very good? Doc has a 60.33% kill rate. Bubba has a 62.04% kill rate and Pig has a 62.09% kill rate. Would you consider these killers strong vs a competent survivor, or survivor team? Personally, I wouldn't and most good players don't as well.

Nothing to do with survivors skill. Killer mechanics are too easy while survivor mechanic require too much effort, practice. Survivors have been nerfed for 4 years straight, maps been redesigned around expert loopers, and nothing expected more from the killer side. I'm still seeing maps with gigantic deadzones where their recently over-buffed bubba does nothing but press a button and they are dead. How is that remotely fair? Your percentages are too low, if I remember correctly doctor was closer to 70% or more. With the hatch escapes factored in, an average killer winning that much over average survivors shouldn't be possible at all.

  • Most of the killers are easy to win with, Freddy simply sits at the top and earns the prestigious reward of being pay to win. He needs reworked from the ground up, I don't care how the devs do it, but I know it desperately needs done.

  • @Axx said:

I would say the majority of survivors don't like a challenge. Why do you think most people play survivor? The game is only difficult vs like 4 killers if you are a competent survivor, and the player playing the killer has to be decent as well. I have had people cuss me out for using Doc on Fractured Cowshed. Imagine getting mad at a Doc on that map. Also, I said the majority, not all. So if you fall into that small minority that likes a challenge as survivor, don't get offended.

I succumb myself to the miserable role of survivor because there is no challenge whatsoever on the killer side. Perhaps I'm in a minority.

A perk shouldn't allow you to have a safety net for doing the objective, that's telling the player to do the objective instead of recovering simply because that is more optimal and because you can't be punished.

Honestly why shouldn't DS deactivate when doing a gen? the killer can only punish you by slugging and you will more than likely get picked up later by another survivor or with unbreakable so you risk nothing by going to a gen off hook while gaining progress towards escaping.

If it did get deactivated then players would prioritize healing, looting, and cleansing instead of finishing gens more often which would be great for this game since survivors just focusing on gens destroys all none viable killers.

edit: I agree that it shouldn't deactivate from other players getting hooked, that's such a horrible idea i wonder why it is still popular despite how easy it would be to play around it to tunnel easier.

The perk should help the survivor not the killer. If a survivor can't touch a gen, then that helps the killer by having it equipped. If you are going back to the hook to find a survivor on a gen nearby you are still tunneling anyway so it doesn't matter if he is on a gen or if you find him crouched near it. The perk is helping not to go back on the hook instantly. If they have unbreakable when you slug, it is still only 1-time use.

  • A perk shouldn't deactivate for doing the objective. That's telling a player if you play the game normally or if I hook your teammate first, you have to lose your perk. Would be horrendous.

The difference is if a killer makes a mistake, it can cost them the whole match, whereas if a survivor makes a mistake, they get chance after chance after chance. No one is saying all survivors are potatoes, we are just saying that solo is miserable due to the potatoes that we are currently matched with. It's not overpowered killers that are making the game miserable, but poor matchmaking. Once the devs fix that, the game would feel more fair for most people.

With your admission that this is just a hobby and you only play this in your spare time, what makes you think that your opinion is valid enough? You having a job or having a "fair salary" is irrelevant.

You're more than welcome to post a link to the killer you're referencing to. But you are not interested in providing real proof.

That's because it is asymmetrical causing killer to be more engaging. That's normal and nothing to do with balance.

I gave you proof. I expect you to do a little effort on your part.

Here you are again, posting no proof. Post the proof that you have please. Show actual video evidence that killers are overpowered against decent survivors. Decent Survivors don't necessarily have to be swf. I only play solo and have had an equal amount of potato teammates versus good teammates.

Oh, you can't because if you were to provide your evidence, we would be able to pick apart the videos and show how it was the survivors making mistake after mistake after mistake. The moment you accused me of being a biased killer main was enough for me to know you have nothing to back up your claims. I have always played the majority of my games as survivor, has a short streak as killer, and now almost exclusively play survivor. I would say I am as unbiased about both roles as one can possibly be.

You are just bad at the game. Anyone else who complains that killers as a whole are over powered is bad at the game. If I am wrong, please provide your evidence.

And I could pick apart your videos and show the killer main making mistakes too. This is the only thing I ever get from people defending this, that the survivor is making mistakes but it is never the other way around. The theme is that killers are all good skilled gamers and survivors are all potatoes and I don't believe it. You even accused me of bad without even knowing me you are so biased about it.

I don't have proof of myself playing, I play as a hobby in my spare time, I already have a job making a fair salary. I said to go watch a popular killer streamer for proof but you didn't even hear me. Ironically, one has a title today says he hasn't lost a game since January 1st as killer. That is remarkable. But you are not interested in this kind of real proof.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

You accuse me of being a biased killer main even though I won't touch killer with a ten foot pole.

You have no facts. I can link to video after video after video showing how compentent survivors stomp good killers any day.

If you had hard facts you would have provided evidence for them, yet none of your posts does so.

I'm not interested in a SWF beating a random killer. My complaints are randoms never win. Watch any popular killer streamer for proof - they literally never ever lose.

I am terrible at looping. I also have Carpal Tunnel that prevents me from being able to press the keys as a normal player would. I play 98% solo survivor and I have no difficulty performing my role. I cannot loop well due to my Carpal Tunnel but I can play stealthily, cleanse totems, do gens, rescue my teammates after the killer leaves so they don't get farmed, prepare the gate then go unhook if need be and waste enough of the killers time by having them chase me to the other side of the map in order to allow my team to reset and heal.

Yes, some things on killer side needs to be nerfed, such as Freddy (I can't wait!), but the number one thing that makes solo painful isn't tunneling, camping or slugging killers, it is idiot teammates who refuse to learn the game. Something as simple as going into a locker when the killer downs someone is lost on most solo players.

People who complain about killers being generally over powered are either bad or woefully ignorant. That, or they're trolls, which I think you are judging by your comment history.

At least I have hard facts to back up my claims. You have none, except being a biased killer main.

  • I feel your sentiment. Contrary to popular community belief, survivor is too difficult when compared to killer.

Yes, it's possible to get really good at survivor but getting there is too much effort. You can buy this game, buy Freddy for example, invest 100 hours and you are now almost undefeatable unless a coordinated SWF swat team comes along.

Invest 100 in survivor and you are still dying 9 out of 10 matches or more. That's wrong.

  • Player agency is an important feature of dead by daylight. The DC penalty is bad enough.

Survivor is literally EZ mode when you have a good team , the problem is that alot of people are terrible at the game.

A good swf team shouldn't be required to beat a killer bot.

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1892380#Comment_1892380

I disagree, survivors lose their matches because they're bots and make decisions that make me question how they even tie their damn shoes in the morning

If everyone separates and does gens the survivors have a extremely good chance at surviving the match.

Are you saying that on average killer players are just simply better at the game? A killer bot wins most games, why can't survivor bots? I think its unfair that more is expected from survivors in order to win.

  • @themirrortwin said:

Its because the survivors realize that by not doing gens they get an undying + ruin nerf.

Play badly survivors, the DEVs will only buff you.

I don't think the majority is purposely playing to lose. The reality is that killer is way too easy to do their objective while the survivor is too hard because of killer perks that are too game changing that simply hand the game over for having them equipped. Survivors need a lot of buffs, killers get too many 3 and 4ks by watching their perks win their game.

  • Survivor is the worst side to play because your chances of winning is strictly governed by how the killer plays. It has a much steeper learning curve than killer and your experience or effort has much less rewards than playing killer.

Killer is the more fair role to play because your skill matters. Git gud at it and you'll win 99.9% of your matches.

You can't say that about survivor. Winning as survivor is about luck and what perks the killer uses, his skill level.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889501#Comment_1889501

Its not punishment its a choice to do these things when the other side is not playing in such a way that it is needed. If any survivor tries to keep it they are already lowering the the odds of escape and most now use it offensively which isn't intended and why its being looked at.

DS should be something to dissuade the killer from just chasing only you as a survivor.

If the killer isn't going after the same survivor and gets hit with DS then its more of a punishment to them.

Why should a survivor be able to do half a gen and still punish the killer with DS?

That is still a perfect world scenario, but in reality it will still cause survivors not to do anything to save their perk. A ghostface can hide and wait for them to touch a gen or heal and tunnel knowing the perk is gone. That's too many restrictions on a single use perk. If it is single-use it should be powerful and be dependable. It should not be like MoM or Power Struggle, where it has so many conditions to make it activate that it can't be used and never used. Nobody uses MoM unless they want to meme. Neither of these are ever used because they require too many conditions to activate. Unlike killers, the survivor side has very few useful perks that is helpful against a good rank 1 killer. Survivor perks also have too many conditions to activate compared to killers. Killers can pick 4 good meta perks and they are guaranteed to swing the match in their favor.

"Why should a survivor be able to do half a gen and still punish the killer with DS?"

The killer can still slug them and that causes a lot of strain on the team. Slugging is so strong killers slug even when DS is not even active.

Do know how long 60 seconds is in dbd? Time is all that matters in this game, every second counts. 60 seconds of invincibility is wayyyyy to long. Ds should be turned into a proper anti-tunnel perk, it shouldn't just be a middle finger to the killer because their preforming well.

Decisive will never be a "dead perk". Even if you never actually hit the killer with it, as long as there's an obsession in the match, the killer has to assume everyone is running it.

I know you want survivors to "fight back" or whatever, but they shouldn't be invincible. Survivors should not have a perk that allows them to stab the killer whenever the hell they feel like it, old Ds had one of the worst designs for a perk I think I've ever seen.

I highly recommend you educate yourself by watching this video by Scott. In it, he explains why Ds is such a strong perk.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VT0Ca-nnGo&t=10s

But 60 seconds has almost always elapsed after chasing someone else and finally hooking them. I'm still not seeing how DS is an issue because even if you find the person again within 60 seconds you are likely doing so well you are winning. You could still slug them and that means they can't do anything. Yes I know some throws in front of the killer to use their perk but guess what they are not doing gens so you can slug them or whatever. The best way to win is do gens, not running to the killer just to be slugged, etc.

Nothing against Scott but he's a killer main that never loses (whenever I've watched, I never see him lose). It's like a survivor main complaining about NOED after doing all the gens and totems. .....You won, why are you complaining?

  • Tinkerer: Punishes the opponent for doing the objective and gives oneself a huge advantage (no terror radius) for doing absolutely nothing.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

DS imo should deactivate when you do anything to progress the game.

Gens, totems, healing up, unhooking, protection hits, sabo.

This means anyone who wants to keep DS for 60s is doing nothing giving the killer more time to pressure the others. The chances of that happening aren't high and most will lose it not long after if not being tunneled.

Lockers need to stay as is to combat being slugged along with possibly the DS timer not going down since its not something anyone should want to be used more.

I feel like punishment for doing the objective is not a good change. That would cause survivors to not work on the objective to save their perk which guarantees the win for the killer where it is already in their favor, a reason why killers want these conditions so their job is easier than it already is. Nothing should ever deactivate a perk such as DS. Doing the objective doesn't deactivate sprint burst, neither should a 1-time use perk.

If you have something in your hand to use to break free from the killer, the killer shouldn't dictate when it is used.

  • @QwQw said:

"Killers are not entitled to put someone on the hook simply because they downed someone." What are we entitled to then?

"It's been nerfed to hell. If anything, it should be re-buffed so the killer has no idea it is coming." Okay, you're delusional. Ds is got buffed from that "nerf". It's one of if not the best perk in the game for survivors.

"It is called decisive strike. Read the perk description, understand Laurie's lore." Lore shouldn't play a part in how unbalanced something is.

To play the game. A survivor should have ways of fighting back, it is called trying to survive.

I'm not delusional but if someone has something in their hand to break free from the killer, you as the killer shouldn't dictate when it is used.

It's not unbalanced. A person only has 60 seconds to use it. You are always guaranteed to hook the person and if you don't try to hook them again within 60 seconds, it is a dead perk and they played the game with only 3 perks. That is a huge sacrifice. Of those 60 seconds, you can occupy yourself hooking someone else and the timer is almost always gone. I think since it is only a 1-time use perk, it should be used at any time, pre-hook or after-hook.

  • It is called decisive strike. Read the perk description, understand Laurie's lore.

What do killers expect the perk to do? You answered your own question, its been nerfed to hell. If anything, it should be re-buffed so the killer has no idea it is coming.

Conclusion: You aren't supposed to win every game and killers are not entitled to put someone on the hook simply because they downed someone.

  • Billy's nerf wouldn't have been necessary if survivors and maps wasn't nerfed to the extent that they are. Old Billy was fine in 2016-18, not now at all. Survivors are too weak against a killer with instant mobility around the map, instant down in the vast number of deadzones, and the killer perks can slow the game down to a crawl. It doesn't help that BBQ auras tell Billy where to instantly go and down the next victim in a dead zone.

The devs are extremely guilty at trying to oversatisfy their playerbase and now you have survivors that are too weak and the good killers are too difficult to use because they had to be nerfed/limited.

there no talking to you you don't play killer and survivors never been defenseless I play survivor and I don't use Sprint burst dead hard DS BT or any of the meta perks and still get out so don't give me survivors are defenseless crap.

First of all, I've played both sides since August 2016 when it first came out. When the game came out, killers had to earn their kills the hard way. No slow down perks and hardly any aura perks and all four survivors could have decisive before they were hooked if they so chose to have it equipped. Maps had a lot more pallets too. If killers made it then and still got kills, I know you can get kills now with a perk that can totally be denied by not tunneling for 60 seconds, there is 3 other survivors in the match. Stop tunneling and if they kept their perk until EGC, well that's good, because killers have plenty of endgame perks.

sprint burst and Dead Hard are nothing like ds,ds is overpowered most survivors know it when survivor are doing a gen fresh off the hook hurt(not healing) knowing nothing can hurt them that OP and bad for the game killer don't have any perk close as Op as DS only thing close is ruin undying that's two perks together and that getting nerf.

I bet you don't play killer at all before you say I don't play survivor I do I play both side and solo with out DS still get out most of my match survivor mode is easy mode nothing hard about it.

I repeat I do feel like there should be obsession in every match no matter if there a obsession perk in play or not because of tunneling but don't say DS not Op because your fooling yourself.

ds need to be changed so it can't be abused.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1887050#Comment_1887050

that's mostly because it can be abused by SWF the one using OoO can easyly tell his/her teams where the killer is what they doing and where they set a trap.

Sprint burst all the way to a safe looping area multiple times, how is that not actually better than DS which is one time only? That's simply you rambling that you don't like the perk and wants survivor to always be totally defenseless. You are disingenuous because killer perks are all stronger than DS. Are you telling me that a killer camping and tunneling and then using NOED to down a few more is ok then? He is totally not abusing his mechanics and perks to win. Not at all. Thing is here, DS doesn't guarantee a win like a killer can do. A killer can easily down them instantly again and even finish tunneling them out of a match. Killer perks are all game changing and for the most part wins their game. Undying wasn't even nerfed enough. Killers have a "second chance" at keeping their very powerful hex perk in the game to guarantee their win with Devour Hope or Ruin.

sorry but the nea was doing a gen in the killer face ( knowing she still had DS) to get that 1 last gen done and we all know ds is broken in the end game

also note he hook one other before downing nea now how that fair?

that 2nd clip that something else but I'm talking the first clip.

That should be of no business to you of whether they are doing a gen or not. You can do a gen with sprint burst ready too. Dead Hard as well. You think those are unfair too? How is it fair for the killer to use the perks they do, which btw none are only one time use. Explain how it is fair for me to do a gen and you are told I almost have it done so you can hide your terror radius for a surprise attack to stop it, regress it? Let me guess...you think that is fair. But let me remind you, it is not even a 1-time use perk.

Killers need to grow a pair and stop being like step-children with the devs and asking them to give you free kills. The game is already entirely too easy for killers.

Newsflash, Kindred counters BBQ if you are so worried about it, along with lockers and other things that don't take up perk slots but you know NERRRRFFFFF rofl. I swear people who cry out over BBQ play the game like 30 min a week.

    How does Kindred counter BBQ?

BTW, if Distortion was buffed to unlimited then I would think BBQ would have a fair counter for aura reads and I would be totally OK for BBQ. As it stands, the aura reads are simply too helpful and tells Killers where to go instead of actually doing the job of hunting. It is called Effort. This perk is unfair on Freddy with slowgen perks.

  • Killers already use tracking perks every game; BBQ, Whispers, Nurses Calling, Undying, I'm All Ears, Bitter Murmur and how many more. Killer addons to give auras, almost forgot to mention Tinkerer that tells exactly where survivor is at when doing objective. You have doctor that wallhacks all game as well. Legion feral frenzy. Don't pretend you don't have the killer's version of OoO, activatable by just doing killer things in much more powerful ways. Most of the time surv has no knowledge their aura is shown. OoO has incredible downsides when the killer version of aura perks have virtually none.

  • In solo, I've noticed the only way to beat freddy is to surrender if you see P3 clothes. Other than that, there's a chance he is a noob you might actually are able to do some gens.

He is so overpowered it is not even funny anymore.

  • Never. But make sure all your steam folders are excluded by your AV program.

    "Killrush"?

What in the heck is that made up term? Can we get a definition of what that encompasses, please?

A killer sweating profusely to finish the objective as quickly as possible.

If a killer is able to down someone, return and tunnel the previous person all within a minute, that killer can be slowed down without remorse. No different than killers loaded down to the gills with PGTW, Tinkerer, Ruin, Undying, and completely stalling the game.

If you don't tunnel it is completely voided?. The video provided above proves that you are wrong.

I saw nothing wrong with that video. It's only a one-time use perk. Killers have slowdown perks gallore, if DS slows a killrush killer down, it is serving the purpose of a perk :)

  • Despite the undying nerf, it is still way stronger than the survivor meta. Nothing comes close to the killer meta of slowdown perks galore and aura perks. A good killer with such perks is a gg.

  • @Axx said:

Current DS is WAY better than the last version. Before on killer, we could dribble the obsession to a hook. Also, only the obsession got the instant skillcheck. Everyone else had to wiggle to 35%.

It should have been corrected so dribbling was not possible, as in the new version. If you don't tunnel, the new version is completely voided.

  • It's already been heavily nerfed five times. A decisive strike should not be on a timer and it should not be decided by the killer. It was already overnerfed.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

It's primary usage isn't for Aura reading it's for the blood points. It's why survivors run WGLF even when all it gave was extra blood points. And half the killer can't even utilize the Aura reading. The primary usage for BBQ is the BP not the Aura reading.

If that was true, then you'd never see a survivor without WGLF. Survivors are the ones that starves for points. That aura reading must be pretty powerful.

  • It is OP, but I think they haven't nerfed it because it reduces camping which survivors hate. If I remember correctly, it is the most used perk on either side if that tells you anything. So it is a perk that reduces camping but a well experienced killer gets too much advantage with BBQ, in which case a well experienced killer wouldn't camp much anyway but they use the perk anyway. It needs nerfing so it has less value for when there is less survivors or less gens left. A killer with BBQ and Tinkerer when only 2 survivors left causes a stalemate. That should be addressed on these two perks.

  • DBD is not like Path of Exile. They can't go in and change several perks all at one time, several killer powers, several maps, UI, animations, all at one time. There is a lot of balance at stake. There is A LOT of code that has to be changed. Nobody knows how all the code is intertwined except for the devs. Patch notes are not quantitative either. The one sentence of changing survivor locomotions and animations is a huge change whether it looks like it is or not on the surface. That change alone could equal an entire page of Path of Exile's patch notes in terms of effort and time required.

DBD is successful and they must be conservative with their changes or they can blow it up. From what I can tell, they are changing a lot in this update.

  • Frozen breasts are OP.

  • There is no need to complicate stats. A kill is survivor losing and killer winning, no matter how it is obtained.

According to the official stats released, killers are way overpowered because they win a lot more survivors.

Even the lowest killer, the nurse, wins almost 50% of the time. This tells me that ALL killers should be difficult to use and that killer by in large is entirely to easy.

For example, you shouldn't play freddy and within a few hours win a majority of the time. That is HORRIBLE balance.
