You can just cut the bullcrap and admit that you want it deleted.

Jesus Christ, Obamacare doesn't even have that many requirements for its deletion.

Look - you're always the first to defend DS, and you, as someone who relies on it so hard, I get why, but you let it cloud your logical thinking.

Nobody is saying delete it (and if they are, they are nonsensical). DS DOES have a place. It's just broken and overpowered in it's current iteration. Especially when you look at the reason why PGTW was nerfed, when DS has the same issue the devs say PGTW had (except for the fact that it's FAR stronger).

DS has zero conditions. It's a free escape. Name one killer perk as strong as DS that has no conditions. Not even NOED is without conditions - it's a hex perk, therefore totems need to exist for it to work. It has a condition.

If it's REALLY meant to be an anti tunnel perk (which devs have stated on different occasions), ANYTHING you do to progress the game forward should deactivate it, and if you are REALLY being tunneled (which is impossible if you are doing a gen/destroying a totem/were fully healed/healed someone else), the timer should freeze.

  • No. I've never done anything against the rules set in place by the developers of the video game (the only rules that mean anything).

Therefore I have done nothing toxic, intentionally or unintentionally.

  • @FFabeq said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1644080#Comment_1644080

Yes, but it should deactivate after like 2/3 seconds of repairing a gen, opening a gate, and cleansing a totem

No. 2-3 seconds can make the difference between finishing a gen vs just tapping it. If they progress the game at ALL, it is impossible that they are being tunneled, and therefore DS should not be needed.

  • This will only affect people who, well, weren't that good with playing killer to begin with. You can tell a Pyramidhead is good when they don't just spam their M2 over and over for free zoning. It's kind of like the difference between a good Freddy and a bad Freddy. The bad Freddy will fill an entire loop with dream snares just to get a hit, because they can't mind game. A good Freddy will place a maximum of 2 snares in a mindgame-able loop.

Now, do the same for Deathslinger.

  • @Almo Not responding to this is basically the same as admitting you know there's nothing you can say to justify this.

    @Peanits @not_Queen We deserve a response.

The "here we go" moment started with Almo's post. He walked RIGHT into that trap. They even built the trap themselves. It's kind of like setting a mouse trap and immediately stepping in it.

Dollars to donuts they won't have it in them to respond in a way that doesn't completely dodge the point.

  • Freddy doesn't need a nerf. He's not overpowered. Get better at looping.

And when the killer is simply camping/the hooked survivor is not being hookbombed? BT has one function, and it shouldn't be denied its only use if it's going to take up a perk slot.

Then wake up before you go save that person. There, your borrowed time will work.

My god, the amount of entitlement in this thread. It's so easy to pick out the survivors i see in solo queue who always go down in the first 10 seconds when they ask for a Freddy nerf.

    LOL

I used to be this way, I really did. It feels like the killer should be there to facilitate a fun game, keep things moving and give the survivors some good scares and thrills.

Thing is - survivors don't seem to want this. They just want to win. And so...yeah. That seems to be the game now.

Yeah, nah. Screw that. Killers aren't survivors babysitters or vice versa. Either side is not obligated to provide a fun experience to the other side.

I hear this excuse about SWF all the time, "the majority of SWF are just friends talking to each other" and that's fine, but don't tell me these groups don't also say things like "oh he's chasing me now beside xyz" and things of that nature while they're chatting because of course they are. I'm not saying get rid of SWF all I'm saying is this excuse of "mostly it's just friends chatting" is a poor excuse

It's only a poor excuse if you're a poor killer.

That is definitely not true, Devour Hope with 5 stacks is the most powerful perk in the game to date, yes it's a hex perk that can be destroyed, but that's exactly why it's a hex perk, if this perk wasn't a Hex, it'd be the most OP perk in the game, its the only perk that has the potentional to absolutely destroy the survivors chances of escape, not even NOED compares to it.

Imagine comparing Devour Hope, a perk dependent on an ENOURMOUS amount of work and luck of RNG placement...to DS. A free get out of jail free card with 60 seconds of invulnerability and a 5 second stun. Sure.

It's a Hex perk. It's risk/reward. That is it's huge downside. If you're not factoring in downsides when you compare 2 perks, you're not delivering a true comparison.

Please, get on my level and make a valid comparison. (Spoiler, you can't).

If this is true then why is it "easy" to beat solo players but causal and bad swf are hard to win against?

Information is king in this game. This is the reason survivors raged about compound 21 because it actually makes blight viable.

Any information shared between 4 people destroys killers. Simple things like the totem is at x location, or he is not chasing me and heading to x area. or full on BT, DS synergy with gates open....

There is no defense for 4 people on coms.

If a casual/bad SWF is "hard to win against"...again, this is a matter of you needing to get better. Sometimes you need to take responsibility for your own #########. Nobody is saying that SWF sweat squads don't exist, but every game? Every SWF a sweat squad? Get better at the game.

Even a good solo team with a little bit of common sense will mop the floor with you if that's what you think. You strike me as the type to blame a loss on an SWF with no proof that they were actually SWF.

Most of what you're experiencing is you having an inability to admit your mistakes.

”Match cancelled due to a player disconnecting.”

I mean, I ran a mori for the challenge. I didn't get a match cancelled.

I even got to use it on someone who I feel always deserves a mori. A Quentin.

  • @Zeus said:

Devs come up with challenges which never plays out as they intended. Devour hope and exposed challenge? Players will run devour hope and Myers/ghostface. Kill obsession challenge? Players will run ebony Mori (and quite possibly nemesis) instead of rancor.

Not saying they 100% intended it this way, but it seems to be that way.

Yeah, and it's not even the players fault, either. Putting in a challenge that it's conditions are entirely dependent on BHVR's shoddy totem spawns/maps leaves the players no choice but to run "back ups".

”Not Fun” is a totally subjective opinion, completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. To me just dodging an attack you see coming is less fun and more robotic than figuring out how to efficiently use cover to minimize lines of sight, but that’s just me. 🤷‍♂️

And I would argue his definition of “counterplay” is too limited in that he is only thinking of “hard counters” like dodging as being “counterplays”. But I believe you should include “soft counters” like using terrain to your advantage and early pallet drops while injured (and no, having a Deep Wound isn’t “nearly the same” as getting downed) since they do increase the probability that he will miss and extend your average chase time against him. Just because something doesn’t work 100% of the time doesn’t mean it’s not a counterplay.

Not fun is subjective. No counterplay is not. Nobody is asking for a hard counter. There just needs to be a downside to his ability to zone.

This isn't an argument you're going to win, bud.

  • @dugman said:

I did watch Scott’s videos (plural) and you seem to be forgetting that he literally identified the exact strategies I mentioned above as the ways to play more effectively against Deathslinger. His point is those videos isn’t that Deathslinger is overpowered, it’s that the strategy against him is “boring” and “robotic”.

You’re conflating “can’t dodge” with “nothing you can do”. I am NOT claiming you can dodge his shots, which is what Scott timed. I AM saying that there are things you can do to make Deathslinger’s shots harder to hit and THAT is the defense you should use in a chase. “But Deathslinger might still hit you anyway / might be able to zone you away from terrain” doesn’t negate that you should still be trying to do these things because he also might not hit you and might not have the opportunity to zone you away from cover.

Throwing your hands up in the air and exclaiming “iT’s JuST GuEsSeS! no CoUnTeRpLaY!” isn’t a useful way to think about how to play against him.

He also identified them as "not counterplays", and "not fun". His point that DS isn't overpowered is also a point I echoed here. I never once said he was OP. I said his M2 zoning is a flawed, effortless, skill free mechanic.

  • Impossible?

    Hold my lemonade.

  • Dude.

Run Myers and a Mori. Or any killer with a full one hit down (MYC, NOED, Haunted, Devour) build and a mori.

You only need devour EQUIPPED, it doesn't actually need to be used.

  • Best:

    1. Dedicated Servers (The IDEA)
    2. Graphics rework (currently happening)
    3. Ability to get horror licenses in game
    4. Crossplay (queue times are wonderful now!)
    5. SWF (Fact: Very few SWF's are toxic/sweaty, and their altruism makes my games easier, and when I play survivor, playing with friends is more fun)

Honorable mention: The Wraith. I love Daddy Ding Dong.

    Worst:

    1. Dedicated Servers (The EXECUTION)
    2. The Legion
    3. Midwich
    4. BHVR's balance director
    5. The bugs. Or rather, their lack of care to fix ######### in a timely matter.

Dishonorable mention: BHVR's inconsistency when it comes to the "new player experience". They nerf/buff/rework things for the "new player experience"....and then they have this horrific grind that only gets bigger the more DLC they release. Nothing scares more people away than an excessive grind.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1636596#Comment_1636596

    • I specifically said dropping pallets early "while injured". Even if he hits you over a pallet he often can't reel you in from behind it to get the down.
    • Spreading out is a counterplay that happens to work against most killers, but in particular it works even better against 110% movement speed killers like Deathslinger
    • My third point was "use terrain and move unpredictably". Using terrain isn't "guessing" any more than knowing optimal routes in loops is "guessing".
    1. You go into deepwounds anyway. You'e not down, but you're as useless as a downed person because you're on a timer.
    2. Spreading out isn't a counterplay. Again. The killer can only chase one person at a time. Whether or not you're spread out. What you're describing is generator efficiency - when the issue being discussed is his free no-skill M2 zoning ability in a chase (aka, a 1v1 situation, meaning you need to lay off the "spread out 4HEAD argument").
    3. Use Terrain and move unpredictably. Except, he can zone you to where he wants you to go (RIP using terrain). Every time you move, you're guessing whether or not he's going to shoot because he can spam his ADS, constantly, and shoot instantly at any given time.

Your points make no logical sense.

This isn't even about opinion - it's actual fact. Go watch Scott's video. He even did the math, down to the milisecond. If you think any of that is "cOuNtErPlAy", and if it's worked for you, every Deathslinger you've faced has sucked. The killer sucking isn't you countering the killer. It's just the killer being bad.

Contact @ScottJund, ask him to set up a playdate with you and Zubat's Deathslinger. Try your CoUntErPlAy with him. Money down you won't, both because you know your logic is broken, and because you're terrified of being embarassed; and believe me, it would be an embarassment.

  • @GoshJosh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635279#Comment_1635279

Right. But BHVR wants to defend their functionality by saying they aren't hooks; yet it alerts the killer just the same when a survivor is rescued from one - clearly allowing and encouraging tunneling without DS being usable.

If it was a hook, BBQ, MYC, Furtive Chase etc. would also work.

They really aren't hooks. It's even in the name. "Cage". Cage =! Hook.

    There, solved the riddle.

  • Slenderman would make zero sense in this game.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1634842#Comment_1634842

    The counterplay is

    • spread out so he has to spend more time going to survivors to get into a chase in the first place
    • drop pallets early if injured
    • use terrain and relatively unpredictable movement to maximize the chance Deathslinger will miss his shot

With a perfect aimbot style Deathslinger always hit? Sure. You can't "dodge" his shot. But nobody is perfect and so you play to try to increase the chance they misfire or misjudge when not to fire. Just because you can't 100% dodge his shot doesn't mean there aren't counterplays that can increase your chance of survival.

And Scott Jund didn't really say Deathslinger has literally no counterplay, he said the counterplay "boring". As in he wants to be able to dodge Deathslinger's shots because he thinks that's more fun than just using terrain to you advantage, etc. He even in the same main video specifically said he didn't think Deathslinger was "overpowered", just that in a chase he's not "interesting" and countering him is "robotic". (Though to me simply watching for an attack and dodging it when you see it coming seems more robotic than planning a route to maximize terrain cover, just my opinion though.)

Dropping pallets early isn't a counterplay - he can shoot over them and put you into deep wounds. Spreading out isn't a counterplay because a killer can only chase one person at a time regardless. Unless they are Bubba/Oni.

So that leaves your 3rd option. "Move unpredictably". aka - guess, based on him spamming M2 to zone you into a position where he'll only miss if he sucks at shooting. That's your cOuNTeRpLaY.

  • When it comes to the hatch offerings at least, I can confirm that on Haddonfield, it's Myers house, and on Lery's, it's the middle area. Also, I used one on Hawkins, and it ended up in that middle room of death where all the stairs cases spawn.

  • No. To both killer and survivor sided perks becoming base like that. Run the perk if you want that info.

  • I see a lot of "limit SWFs" and "remove moris/keys" etc.

The Devs can make mistakes, they aren't gods. The very act of camping and tunneling rewards a no-skilled killer and punishes an unlucky survivor, and vice-versa. You want to say this is fair?

They aren't gods, but they do create the rulebook. Not the players.

And yes - as much as it's not fun when it happens to you, I get it, it's still fair. Survivors have all the tools at their disposal not to get caught, if they learn to play the game optimally. As do killers also have the ability to rip survivors asses open if they learn to play the game just as optimally. You're not entitled to an escape any more than the killer is entitled to the kill.

  • @LittilAvindar said:

Sounds like, in lieu of a penalty, they should simply award everyone affected by d/cs in the game an automatic safety. At that point, people probably wouldn't be as upset over it. Obviously, when a killer disconnects, the match ends. Survivor d/cs, on the other hand, don't end the match, and allow a killer to steamroll over the others, thereby resulting in de-ranks for those unfortunate survivors. A lack of a d/c penalty simply means that the only people punished by a survivor disconnecting mid-match, are that person's teammates. Either the match should end, regardless of who disconnects, or everyone should get a safety. At that point, there's literally no pressure for the match. If you can outperform, you should still get the points, but the safety should be the minimum. And obviously, if multiple survivors disconnect, they don't get any points, so it's not like one person could disconnect, give everyone a safety, and then they could disconnect and maintain that safety.

It's literally a no-brainer resolution, yet it isn't in effect, unless it's a killer disconnecting. Even then, if they wait long enough to disconnect (just long enough for one of the players to pop a gen or pull someone off a hook), then the players that either didn't finish the gen or get the rescue de-pip anyway. It's almost as if BHVR WANTS people to get upset over this, instead of doing their part to either prevent it, or manage it. If they can't willingly punish people for being poor sports simply because a hacker can ruin streams for their most popular players, then at the very least, they CAN move to ensure that innocent people aren't punished for other's poor sportsmanship.

Well, being that it's actually possible for a team of 3 (I've even seen a team of 2 do it if one of them is a decent looper and the other does gens) to still win a game, I'd say no to that. Maybe you're not good enough, but people are, and maybe you should learn to get that good.

It is on the more rare side to get an actual group that is out to ruin your day but trust me it does happen. I'm talking all the survivors got the same annoying perks and are running flashlights tbagging after every pallet they drop and pointing at you, bodyblocking or saboing hooks constantly. It's a bit frustrating when you get those people. They aren't that common i think in like 40 games i had 2 or 3 games with people who acted like that.

I never said it didn't happen.

And if you get frustrated/offended by flashlights and t-bagging, that's a you problem. Not a them problem. Lighten up on your delicate sensibilities.

  • Most of the time, it's not SWF ruining your killer matches. It's mostly yourself ruining your killer matches.

99% of SWF's are just people shooting the proverbial **** with their buddies. The amount of tryhard SWF's are the 1%. Chances are, and statistically speaking, if you're losing to all SWFs, you really need to get better; and you can. DBD is a fairly easy game to play on either side. You can do it:)

Also there are so many other killers who can zone survivors with minimal skill and people could care less. Some of them being: Demogorgon, Hillbilly, Wraith, Huntress, Hag, Clown, LeatherFace, Plague, PHead, and even Blight. All of the killers I just listed can use their powers to keep survivors from going to certain areas and can basically rediect survivors. I also forgot to mention trapper but there's no reason I could ever see for someone to complain about him because he's so weak that even if his traps are unfun it couldn't matter less.

    1. Demo's movement slows down when he charges his shred, and the animation takes a second to complete.
    2. Hillbilly has a limit to how much he can "zone". He literally has an overheat.
    3. Wraith's movement slows down if he fakes his cloak/uncloak.
    4. Huntress has a slow down while she's winding up, and a full animation when she puts her hatchet away.
    5. Hag's traps are actually visible and have direct counters, such as flashlights.
    6. Plague slows down when she holds her vomit.
    7. Leatherfaces movement slows down when he holds his charge, and has an overheat mechanic.
    8. Blight LITERALLY has a cooldown animation.

Deathslinger has none of this. Players can literally spamclick M2 and get free zoning with zero downsides. Pyramidhead doesn't have a downside, and that's another topic of discussion that has been complained about.

Comparing him to other killers did nothing but prove my argument. Thanks. Much apprec.

Guess? The survivor can keep running straight or dodge. Its pretty easy to go against DeathSlingers and even if his M2 is designed badly it has some counter play to it. At the end of the game DeathSlingers always lose because of how long his cooldowns are and his mobility. He has no map pressure and even his main ability which is used in chases is weak.

Explain how one dodges a Deathslinger with the ability to spam fake M2 over and over, with no indication that he's ever actually going to use his power? Here, actual statistical data from someone who actually knows: @ScottJund

Although I do agree that DeathSlinger has an unfair zoning technique it's all he has and he's still weak with that. They need to tweak him by buffing him and nerfing his aim in. I've always thought that he should be able to vault, break a pallet, open a locker, and kick a generator while having a survivor chained. I also wish they would add skill checks or something to his chain rather than spamming A and D over and over.

I'm not sitting here saying he's OP, or even strong. I'm merely saying that once he starts spamming M2, there's nothing the survivor can do but guess.

@Sloppyknockout I have nothing to learn from you. Criticism are meant to help improve something by providing an outside view but your using it to bash him. I've read your posts for a while and see how you communicate I see your criticisms of him as negative to him. MY opinion. By your choice of words you paint him as entitled(which seems to be the cool word) and pretty much a know it all. So what Right? While I did say he is overbearing and maybe giving a reason why doesn't mean I know....I've read for two years non stop insults or CrItIcIsM of him and others if someone posts one video of youtube....less people being 💩 would be a good thing but I'm old for this community

Apparently you do have something to learn. That you can be negative, and criticize someone without it being an insult. So again, learn that.

You realize that stream sniping is bannable, right? You're confessing to going into people's streams and reacting mid-game based on how they choose to play, or what they are communicating. It actually is a form of cheating. And before you try to argue that they are streaming it, so it's publicly available, that doesn't matter. They are streaming the game for their followers. If you, as one of the active players in a match, are using their feed to gain information, such as their location or their perks, then you are cheating. Obviously, one would need proof to report that, but you're here on the official forums, pretty much confessing to doing just that.

If you're putting TTV in your name, you're inviting it.

The devs have stated they do not ban or stream sniping.

Anything else to add to prove you really have no idea what you're talking about?

You can still appease the Entity enough to rank up with zero kills.

Can you do it at Red Ranks? Probably not

No, you can't, and believe me, I've tried.

I've proven that you're more willing to read a small part of a post and then frantically go for a reply than actually read the rest of it, apparently.

Eh, I don't bother with novels. This is a discussion forum, not a library. Even still, you didn't say anything that went against what I said.

The game has no clear win condition. We define our own. You brought up something completely irrelevant.
