Most people come back after they realize there is no better alternative to DBD.
You have a better shot at quitting since you're extremely new and aren't affected by the sunk-cost fallacy yet.
Propnight, released 4 days ago.
Soon : VHS, releasing in 2022
you're welcome

No announcement needed.
See you in a week.

Don’t bother. Why not just move on from a game you no longer enjoy?
It’s pretty simple.
Because you posted something that questioned my quitting. I really am quitting, and I don't need you calling me a liar. So yeah, I'll be back in 1 week with a screenshot and quote you.

Only reason I'd ever come back to anything DBD related is to quote your post on the forums with a picture of my last played on Steam, so you can see the egg on your face.

They could just add coms to the game or have premade messages that the whole team can see.
Example killer is camping do gens
Are you saying devs should give all Survivors a radio, to be able to communicate right off the bat? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for a survivor to tell another survivor on the opposite side of map. Of course, SWF's on discord have no problem with this.
-
@OhEtsu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2637832#Comment_2637832
Because not all SWFs are on comms, and only like 5% of the ones that are have that level of communication.
Please provide proof of your claims and statistics.
Otherwise, I disagree and I say that 99% of SWF's have comms and all of them communicate killer location. Especially since official DBD discord has SWF rooms and LFG.
-
@OhEtsu said:
No. That's ridiculously overpowered and not even necessary to reduce the gap between SWF and solo.
You mean to tell me, that you think SWF's have an overpowered free Perk , and if Solo's get it, it would be overpowered there too?
Noo waayyyyyyyyyy. How can it be overpowered if SWF's already have it and devs said it's fine? Why would it suddenly be overpowered if Solo's get it?
-
@StarLost said:
No.
You assume that every SWF is a 4man with perfect instantaneous communication. This would be ridiculously overpowered.
I'm happy to throw solos a bone - give them native voicechat (opt-out, like Overwatch), pings and a more robust set of emotes.
How can it be overpowered? The devs have already ruled that it's not cheating and SWF's already have it for free without equipping it.

Lightborn
I have been grinding bloodpoints for a while, to get Hillbilly to 35 to unlock Lightborn for my other killers
I just played a match where a Survivor complained that I had lightborn after the match. Felt great

The scanning could put some sort of effect on them. It could be sort of like Ghost Face. The longer you stare in the red scanning vision then the become exposed.
that would be perfect, because frankly its easy to dodge since theres so many obstacles to run behind and stuff

How much money do you think that will be then just for the robot still? I mean I guess they can try since it was in Death Garden. But then what would the exoskeleton do? I would like them to pull out a blaster.
His secondary attack would be ranged. He would pull out a .45 pistol with the laser sight just like in the movie, but he doesn't shoot automatically. He "scans target" and the laser sight would show the long red beam, and survivors can SEE the red beam on them or around them, and there is a half a second delay before he shoots. So the survivor can see the red laser sight beam and try to dodge it.
And his robot eye scanning would be perfect for reading Perk Aura's.
-
As long as the devs force me to play vs coordinated SWF's, I will tunnel and camp every single game.

Just because a killer uses guns = action movie?
Killer uses a knife = horror movie?
That's not how horror movies should be defined.

They had that license for specifically that one instance when it seemed as if the game were going to make a comeback and T-800's actually fit that setting, but that game did not flourish sadly and NRS is currently making use of the license.
From the article :
This isn't to say that The Terminator is a horror movie on the strength of what it later inspired. Instead, it's a horror movie on the basis of how Cameron made it. It's set in a grimy, poorly-lit 1984 Los Angeles that's falling apart at the seams, where the T-800 muscles into the few bright spots in it and immediately blows them all to hell. Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor, who's just a young waitress in the original film, spends the first half of the movie at the center of a net that's slowly closing around her, with the T-800 constantly getting closer, and everyone who tries to protect her ends up dead. She's much like Laurie Strode, or Laurie's genre descendant Sydney Prescott, who's been thrown into a nightmare through no fault of her own. Suddenly, Sarah's life is burning down for no reason, and nothing can save her.
Thematically, then, and in terms of its overall presentation, The Terminator is James Cameron making a John Carpenter fan film, down to its cinematography and lighting choices. The biggest difference, and the one that seems to cause most of the genre confusion, is that the T-800 uses some particularly impressive guns. If the visual language of the film wasn't so centered around firearms in general, with the balletic mayhem of the police station massacre or the dangerous red laser sight on the T-800's .45 pistol (one of the first appearances of a laser sight in a film, in fact), there'd be less question about whether or not it was a horror movie. If the T-800 didn't use guns at all—if it favored the same knives, hand tools, and improvised weapons as a Jason or Michael—there'd be no question at all.

You keep saying this, and you're right that it has horror elements, but it's way more of an action sci-fi film then it is a horror one.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VV6MXM4UJ5P2/image.png
Incorporating a license because it has subtle horror themes is just opening the door to allowing ridiculous action licenses to be added in the future.
Those labels are put there by people who don't know any better. You're using the tag section of websites that was probably edited by a 21 year old intern. James Cameron HIMSELF said it's a horror movie, based on John Carpenter films.

@ReikoMori said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2635222#Comment_2635222
You still have the problem that the original is most definitely classified as a Science Fiction Action Film and that the license is also in the hands of another dev and is extremely expensive.
Those labels are put there by people who don't know any better. James Cameron himself said The Terminator was a horror movie, as he was making a John Carpenter-like film at the time. Cameron was trying to become famous, and 1978's Halloween and The Fog and other films put John Carpenter on a rise to stardom. Cameron was trying to emulate it, but put his own twists on the genre. Instead of a killer who disappears and reappears in stealth mode, The Terminator has no need for that and just plows straight ahead like a robot.

Ripley was her name and that license is already in the hands of another dev. It is also one of the most expensive properties to license.
I just looked it up... yeah, Disney owns Aliens and Predator since they bought out 21st Century Fox.

With Nemesis being the most recent killer to make the gap bigger in what can and cannot be used since he is from an action game makes T-800 possible. As for will we ever see it? Nope. Extremely expensive and you need Arnold which is a whole other thing.
Then use the robot version from the final chase. No Arnold required

I mean, I find trickster scary.
I think DBD does a really good job of handling societal fears and (most of the time) turning them into incarnate metaphors
Please watch this final scene of 1984 The Terminator, and tell me this isn't a slasher horror film in sci-fi disguise. The entire film is this killer robot murdering people trying to reach his Obsession, Sarah Conor. His very first kill, he rips someone's heart out with his bare hands.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6PSMztkMr4 -
The original 1984 The Terminator is a slasher horror movie in a sci-fi disguise. If you haven't watched it, go watch it. It's only the sequels that turned the Terminator franchise into action movies.
I'm telling you, go watch it. Terminator even walks very slowly and has several scenes that are identical to Halloween with Michael Myers.
The ORIGINAL Terminator film... it's about a killer robot who is after his target (obsession) Sarah Connor (final girl). During the film, Terminator kills many people in brutal horrific ways. It is most definitely a slasher film in disguise.

Also, what about ALIENS?
Killer : Xenomorph
Codename : The Alien
Survivors : Sigourney Weaver's character, I forget her name
-
All I know is, if I play Killer, I 24/7 tunnel and camp to secure kills.
And you can blame the SWF flashlight crews who use every dirty and toxic trick in the book to try and get 4 escapes and leave nobody behind. Oh and don't forget the teabagging at the end just to really be extra toxic to the killer they just bullied.
Because of that, I tunnel and camp every time I play killer. Even more fun, I go Trapper and slowly concentrate all the traps in my basement area and start camping my hooks and hope they come save him. That's what I've been reduced to because of how unfun, toxic, and triggering SWF is. I've gotten close to uninstalling after a 4 man SWF flashlight super black ops delta squad thoroughly abused me and then teabagged me at end.
AS for suvivors, I don't really care. Nothing other survivors do is a big deal to me, because I feel like I can control my own destiny. Even if I feel my team is bad, and there's only 2 of us left, and the other guy gets hooked... I'll sometimes just decide to let him die and look for the hatch. Survivor doesn't upset me much. One time, I did 3 generators and never got seen by the Killer. The rest of my team did 0 gens and were easily 2 hooked and killed. When the Killer found me trying to escape, the last one alive, he let me escape. I asked him why after game, and he said he let me escape out of respect, because he hadn't seen me all game and my team was bad.
It's playing as Killer vs the SWF crews that ruin my gaming experience.
'.......
-
I play Solo survivor all the time. I don't really have complaints. Yeah sometimes survivors are bad or selfish, but it's not all the time and doesn't trigger me.
What really upsets me is when I'm killer vs a SWF team that abuses me with flashlights or other stuff. It's the king of unfun, triggering experience that makes me want to uninstall sometimes. It really sucks that SWF and flashlights is a thing.
-
Propnight comes out on November 30 of this month.
It's like DBD but the survivors can turn into objects of their environment to hide.

I love the titles that always contain the phrase, "Let's talk about 'X'". Could you word it anymore pompous?
And by your logic, then Survivors should never be grabbed when they vault or exit/enter lockers since they can't control their character until the end of the animation.
I would take that trade in a heartbeat.

Okay so.
Being blinded at a pallet has two easy counters. Over time, you'll learn the routes survivors take and can follow them pretty well. Alternatively you can perform the novel concept of listening to the footsteps and breathing of the survivor. Because your eyes are out of action doesn't mean your ears are.
Being blinded while being picked up has another very easy counter, looking at a wall. Alternatively you can bait out the pickup. However with this clarification something tells me you're not even talking about flashlight saves and only about flashlight blinds at pallets, which is perhaps even more telling of your status as a new player. I mean that in the nicest possible way but flashlights are some of the worst items and have plenty of counters.
Flashlights are one of the best items, which is why I routinely run into Iridescent ranked SWF squads running 2-3 flashlights.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2634091#Comment_2634091
If you've let yourself get to that position in the first place then you don't deserve another chance, provided the survivor is skilled enough. There are so many ways to avoid getting to this position that you actually have to put in effort to get flashlight saved a lot of the time.
If you've gotten to that point, you can still move away very quickly. You can avoid getting to this point so easily.
Flashlights are one of the weaker items in the game, and every second they spend trying to get a save is a second they spend doing nothing productive for the team. 4man flashlight squads are the easiest to deal with, because they won't be on the objective ever.
What do you mean if I "let myself" get to that position.
So a survivor is running from me and gets to a pallet. If at any point I try to break the pallet, that's it. I'm blinded. My character goes into the pallet break animation, and the survivor just stands on the other side of the pallet and flashlights my face. As soon as pallet is broke, insta blind. More precious time wasted, and now he runs off.

@Tr1nity said:
Thats like - the only time to blind people, otherwise you will never be flashlight stunned, if its that much of an annoyance, use lightborne.
While you go slug, the downed player has 99'd their recovery and then other 2 survivors are about to pick her up as soon as you walk 10 feet away from the downed player to slug someone.

The accursed patch.
In all seriousness, I'm not sure if OP is confusing being blinded with being stunned. It kinda sounds like they are.
Also, I really do think flashlights need to be looked at to be more consistent.
Blinded/stunned is same to me. I can't see.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2634067#Comment_2634067
That's exactly how it works lol, how new are you to the game
IF that's how it works, then there needs to be a delay to let the player regain control. Otherwise it's the same thing. You aim at the face during the animation and the player is insta-stunned a millisecond after, so in essence it's the same
-
@Tr1nity said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2634061#Comment_2634061
That is actually true, survivors do have to time it to ensure the blind is after the animation.
No chance. I am insta-stunned before I can regain control every time.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
If I cannot control my character while I wait for the animation to end, then I should not be stunnable until I regain control of my character.
Fun fact, this is exactly how it works. You cannot be stunned if you are already in an uninterruptable animation- flashlight + pallet saves work by triggering the moment your animation ends so you can look away just barely, and it requires immense skill.
You can also counter this by just... waiting. Bait flashlights out and then hit them, leaving the other person slugged. Your eyes can be blinded, so you can use them to look around the area and hit them.
That's not how it works at all. I routinely get stunned while in an animation for picking a player up. Or breaking a pallet. There is no chance to look away. I am already stunned when I regain control of my character.
-
@Tr1nity said:
Thats like - the only time to blind people, otherwise you will never be flashlight stunned, if its that much of an annoyance, use lightborne.
No, you could "get good", as I am always told by survivors, and aim at the killer's face when they are actually controlling their character.
If the Killer is looking at the ground while you flashlight him, then that's enough advantage for you. Flashlight's are too OP right now.

Strange you call me a teenager but is trying to compare perks to Discord. You also seem to be as angry as a Pre-Teen and trying to overcompensate for your inadequacy in playing Killers so you feel you should "cheat" as well by playing on SWF survivors and adding to the broken system. That action within self proves your real age and the inability to grow as a Killer.
Using Discord is not cheating as using a outside program is not against the rules that the Devs have laid out for us. Learning from ones own mistakes and learning new ways to play Killers is how we can get better at handling SWFs until a balance can be worked out.
In the end its pretty obvious that your response was the typical bait response to try and get me angry and upset somehow.....
Good Job but better luck next time Sluzzy......
Cry about it. You called me a fool and then get your pink panties in a bunch when the favor is returned. Big surprise you're a hypocrite. Not.
2-0 as SWF in discord today. 8 escapes, 0 kills of teammates. yay

Oh I agree it's not cheating at all and those are saying it is are well......ummm how can I say this so not to offend their sensibilities.....ummm fools. As what to be done I'm not sure myself.
Yeah? Is it cheating if someone gives themselves a Perk which shows the location of the Killer at all times to all 4 survivors? Because that's what coordinated SWF does with giving killer location.
If all 4 survivors could see the aura of the Killer permanently during a trial, this is blatant cheating. And coordinated SWF's do exactly this by calling out when they are being chased, or which Gen the Killer is going to, or just calling out his location in general.
It's cheating, and I don't know how you don't see that. You sound like a teenager, because nobody with a developed brain would argue this.
But I'm done complaining about this.
I've switched to main Survivors now and am enjoying abusing the SWF mechanic in discord. Didn't lose a single game yesterday as Survivor.
Having a blast taking a dump on killers now in discord with SWF. Yesterday, I got to be on the Survivor perspective of a 3 man coordination to rescue our 4th hanging teammate. It was end game. We coordinated both exit doors to 99% and stopped. Then we all ran to the hook together, healed up, and then I had Borrowed Time so I was the designated Unhooker, while the other 2 helped body block and flashlight. All 4 of us made it out. The killer was reduced to face camping the final survivor at the end to try and get a single Kill, but we denied him even that.
I know how that Killer feels, but apparently this community and the devs don't care, so I'm going to enjoy the broken system too.
In another game, I was the hooked teammate at the end of the trial, and all 3 came to save me again through coordination, told me which way to run, and the killer was so desperate for -1- kill, that he tunneled me from hook and was dodging the body blockers to try and get to me. The poor killer got me right near the exit gate, but guess what. Flashlight stun. There was no wall nearby in the grass to hide, so he got flashlight stunned when he picked me up, all 4 of us made it out.
Yay Survivor SWF on discord!!!!

I don't believe you. No way. Did the devs really say voice chat on 3rd party apps is not cheating?

I would add a new game mode : Draft mode
So, if you pick Survivors, then for Round 1, you get shown 2 random survivors to pick from. You pick one.
In round 2, you are shown 2 random perks, tier 3 purple. You pick one.
This continues until you pick your Survivor, and 4 perks, and addons.
Same for Killer.
It would be a fun mode, where people try new things, and you go into a game where nobody built meta unless they got so lucky that they were given all 4 meta perks to pick from.

Every single Michael Myers perk needs a rework.
But Spies from the Shadows?? I Love that perk, it helps me so much to find survivors around the map

You probably don't want to post that, as from the rest of your post it would be very easy to claim your intent was some sort of naming and shaming which is against forum rules.
Don't know what you'd expect to come from it in the first place. Unless people are throwing verbal harassment around via voice there is no such thing as "abusing voice comms". No rules against voice chat or what you do with it, unless you use it to verbally harass someone in some way.
Using voice comms in a 3rd party program while grouped SWF is cheating. You're communicating the position of the Killer, coordinating everything, I mean, these are more powerful than any perk
-
When I play survivor, I've gotten tunneled and facecamped to death as the 1st survivor hooked before. I didn't like it, but it's part of the game IMO.
The rest of the survivors should just do generators to make the killer pay for that wasted camp. Killer usually loses those games, UNLESS survivors play into the camp, and 1 by 1 go try to be a hero and just bring free kills to the killer.
