I will use the perk you named as an example. Pop is a crutch because it rewards you for not applying enough pressure to slow down gens naturally.

No, it rewards you for hooking survivors and doing your objective. I won’t bother arguing it because any seasoned killer knows low mobility killers cannot apply that kind of pressure naturally without colossal survivor misplay.

I stand by what I said. Killers have few crutches, survivors have many. But a crutch is a crutch. I hope they all get nerfed into oblivion.

  • No, there are only a few crutches available for killer.

Spirit fury enduring and NOED. That’s about it. It used to be ruin undying but that’s gone.

NOED rewards you for losing the game. You get a pity kill on the way out, that’s it. It’s like a killer losing the game then getting a pity kill with rancor.

Use it all you want, I don’t care, im a killer main. But don’t expect to get better anytime soon.

  • Pop is still the best and most reliable regression you are going to get. I’d slug any time the opportunity presents itself, be it at 5 gens or at endgame.

I would not rely on NOED for kills, it’s a crutch. Run perks that will help you win every game.

  • He’s not bad. It’s an eternal struggle. Without windstorm, you mIght as well play ghostface. With windstorm, there is little reason to play ghostface.

Glad it was put into the “known issues” category when you login.

I swear I was going out of my mind looking for slugs recently and attributed it to the “silent slugs” bug instead.

Now it’s probably “silent tenacity slugs” knowing how this game goes.

  • I never play huntress or Billy because I don’t want to invest the time to get really good at either

Certain streamer who is "fighting toxicness" calls inexperienced players potatoes. Even tho after so many years and hours he makes same mistakes as them but it is never his fault lol.

I think “baby” started with survivors who are way too scared of their pixels dying. Then it was extrapolated to killers who are way too scared of a pallet stun.

Potatoes have grown past that stage but are just incompetent at looping.

Out of curiosity though, if the generators are speeding by and with one survivor already not doing those generators, would it not therefore make more sense to take a second and possibly third survivor off of those generators, allowing you to swing pressure substantially more, than allowing the three others to roam free and finish the final couple quickly?

“Why aren’t you playing pig optimally” is almost like asking “why are you playing pig in the first place”

Shes got dumpster tier stealth, dumpster tier anti loop, and the traps can be removed first attempt. I pretty much stopped maining her the second ghostface came out.

You basically need double purples for traps to do anything other than be mediocre stall.

So why not try and get some head pops?

  • @CountVampyr said:

If I feel confident that my first hook isn’t also going to be my last hook then I’ll take the aggro. If I don’t feel that confidence then it ain’t gonna happen. The only exception I may make is if I have already completed objectives/challenges that have nothing to do with escape, or none of us are likely to escape anyways so sacrificing myself isn’t going to make a bit of difference.

Taking “aggro” only makes sense if you play with the “team” mentality. I’m a solo player, therefore I weigh benefits and almost always choose what is beneficial for myself. If it’s in my best interest to save you then I’ll save you. If not then you just may be ######### out of luck.

Pretty much this. “Take the aggro!” when the killer is someone who is stupidly oppressive in chase and you just go down immediately and then hey they have NOED and you die on first hook.

DBD is a hide and seek game, I don’t care what anyone says. That is the direction it has been moving every patch and survivors are weaker than ever in solo Q. The time of 1v1ing a competent killer is long gone.

Quit getting caught and being chased so much in the first place IMO.

  • Former pig main here. To get heads to explode.

I don’t tunnel them forever but usually enough to chase them away from any nearby boxes or if they try to locker DS me I’ll let the timer run down.

Only reason to play pig is for head pops so you might as well encourage it

  • It’s fine, it’s just like 80% of the killer caste is reliant on corrupt intervention to have games that last more than 5 minutes. If you have that it’s a fun experience IMO.

  • It’s true though, I have an xbone and a PC and it’s honestly painful to play DBD on the xbone; which is a shame because I have the OG charms on the xbone.

I just can’t take the choppy frames and moving like I’m underwater when I’m carrying someone to hook. I know I’d probably get dumpstered now that cross play is on if I ever tried to get to high rank on xbone again.

  • I’m actually one of those people. I’m not giving up 2 perk slots for 2 totems that can do absolutely nothing for me. I’ve used totem perks too much to know how much of a waste it is. I only used ruin undying that provides value straight away.

Even post nerf using ruin undying it’s still dead before my corrupt intervention runs out sometimes. Ruin standalone? Dead in under a minute very often.

I will run it with a Lerys offering, Hawkins offering, or a Midwich offering and that’s probably about it.

Now onto keys, yes they are very OP. Have an extra way to win the game with 3 gens done aka 80 seconds or less? And then get free bond or wallhacks on the killer at the same time?

Not sure why you are comparing them though.

  • Killers definitely have the advantage against solo Q survivors right now. All it takes is one potato for the whole team to lose. The killers are very strong these days, and a lot of the maps don’t have too too much to work with.

SWF is still top of the food chain though.

This is a good build but I would suggest discordance over M&A, to catch them in groups.

    @op:

He's good at downing multiple survivors when they bunch up, and can move a good bit faster than survivors when using his chainsaw. Can pre-rev to bait a pallet drop and get a faster break. When using the power, use your chainsaw charges when the bar reaches the charge number (aka right when the power is about to end)

I like monitor better because you get so much extra distance with the lower terror radius. If people start running away at 30~ meters it takes forever to catch up. Especially on hold W maps like Midwich.

And it means you don’t need to bring in a tracking perk. I really don’t like going into games as a 32m killer without something like whispers because you can get stealthed on super hard.

Discordance alone isn’t reliable, tinkerer can tell you way too late.

I would never take off bamboozle because going against really good survivors without it is miserable. You will be an M1 killer at strong tiles like the shack / jungle gyms / etc where with bamboozle you just instantly force the pallet drop and chainsaw it.

Sometimes I dump pop for something else but pop lets you play a lot “nicer” in my opinion.

  • Nah it sounds pretty terrible on all but the strongest killers, who can afford to be down 2 perk slots the entire game regularly.

Maybe with a map offering it would be OK, but even then I’d probably just do devour stand-alone instead of gambling the whole game on it working.

  • 1F2972A6-F253-4E65-888E-1749B0F57C5C.png

This is probably my favorite build on him. Corrupt Pop is the killer meta.

His main weakness is windows, so bamboozle is an obvious choice.

Monitor is good for closing the gap and finding people.

Other good perks would be Infectious Fright, Whispers, Agitation.

You should basically be chainsawing around almost every loop. There’s not much reason to M1 unless they are about to vault a window.

Best addons are the chili. I like the recharge one as well.

  • It’s good. But if you are playing a speed boost character there are many other better options. Leatherface, blight, and spirit come to mind

    Ready for the next lobby.

I try to be the last to die when my team is that bad, but it happens. Play to the best of my ability and hopefully safety pip when killer steamrolls that early. If I'm going to let them heal me, I at least try to move to better positioning incase of failed checks.

That’s right. There’s nothing you can do. You are a victim of the terrible matchmaking system that has plagued the game for years.

It would not be so painful to me if I had not seen better times. Years ago, in the PC only no cross play era, red ranks meant something. You would join a game and expect competent teammates. Now? You can get a full lobby of brown ranks.

And half the maps are balanced around SWFs who can loop. It’s a joke.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

You worry for yourself and capitalize on their mistakes. Survival and pipping don't require them to perform well, just you. I always find it hilarious when I look at the score screen with the top score and everybody else has a fraction of my points. Help them if possible but don't drag yourself down.

And you tell me what you do. Your teammates are all brown rank. Someone disconnected at 5 gens left like 20 seconds into the game.

The map has little to no good pallets to work with. Once you are saved, your spine chill goes off while your teammates try to heal you. They keep following you like headless chickens until the killer finds you and kills you.

Thats it. There is no skill, no counter play, no carrying. You just lose.

Matchmaking is terrible for Killer. I’m rank 16 and keep getting red rank survivors to go against. Idk what is wrong with this game but the list of problems seem to be growing with each new “improvement and update”.

Well I’m rank 1 both sides but rarely play survivor. So my rank has fallen steeply on that side. Take this for example. I just played it.

    46A785E4-3118-44B7-B82B-AD5EFFF7C81C.png

The rank 3 survivor was a solo Q. He got two rank 9 survivor teammates who got slaughtered. There was nothing he could do.

  • @Shaped said:

Honestly I had fun playing solo tonight after not playing this game for a year. It has flaws for sure and I can see what is wrong with the last update but I am enjoying it.

How? You could be a rank 1 and get 3 brown rank teammates. It’s actual dogshit. The matchmaking is the worst I have ever seen in a video game. If you are going to play solo, you should play killer. That minimizes the impact of the garbage ranking system

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1942158#Comment_1942158

At least they are following maybe hoping to knock out gens together. I get people who scatter like roaches and go hid for the majority of the match.

I don’t know why they were following me. I didn’t want a heal, I had iron will. All they did was lead the killer straight to me again. It got me killed. I’m not playing survivor again. It’s a waste of my time unless they fix the matchmaking.

  • @Shaped said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1942139#Comment_1942139

I understand. I cared a lot when i played this game before. It is normal don't worry. Just normal human emotions.

Just take a break once in a while and you will be fine. :)

No, it won’t help. I just played my first solo Q game of the night. I am a rank 4 survivor. I get a rank 20 teammate who randomly DCs at 5 gens left. My other teammates are rank 16, rank 15, and the killer is rank 12. They just follow me around leaving scratch marks when I clearly don’t want their help.

I literally cannot take solo Q. There is absolutely no reason not to just play killer instead outside of the 4 man sweat squads. Solo Q is literally garbage

doesn't left behind only start to work when you're the last one alive? I don't use it so idk for sure, but I think the reason I never used it was because I could already hear it once it's open and felt it was a waste of a perk slot

Yeah it’s when you are the last one, which should be happening often if you are as good as you think you are.

Bi yearly means well be stuck with the same killers and perks for half a year

The survivor meta hasn’t changed in 4 years bud. Killer meta changed for uhh, 3 months before it was gutted? Lmao

  • @GhostMaceNotCrusty said:

It would get so boring if it was bi yearly.

Yeah it’s so much better for them to break the game every 2 months, leave us hanging for weeks, and then fix it only to break the game again a month later

  • I never do it, unless it’s down to the last 2 survivors and there is no hope and I want the last guy to get hatch.

The only time I have killed myself or DCd anytime recently is from sandbagging, which tilts me more than any killer ever can.

  • Bi yearly so they can actually fix the issues in the game, but that’s not how the fiscal year works so it won’t happen

  • CD453DDC-BE43-42FC-A5EE-FC07A039A2FD.png 7A60E9AF-6EE5-4986-9AF0-463B79E5915F.png

This one has been pretty fun to run. I probably get the most gen grabs out of any build in the game with rusty shackles hag.

Do it with the blacked out stealth hag skin to be extra tryhard

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1941721#Comment_1941721

Yeah no. I’m level 5 and I’m still getting survivors acting like they are level 20.

Left behind and a key. Or spine chill + resilience + wake up if you don’t have one.

Then when everything is going to hell you either key out or stand on a door and wait for the killer to find the hatch

  • That’s not too bad. I had a torment creek earlier with a shack that had long wall jungle gyms on each side, and cow tree across from it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Guess some of the best clown mains and best killer mains in DBD don't have any brains then.

Trapper requires more thought process than any other killer in the game, doesn't mean they are a powerful killer.

I disagree, that’s probably hag or blight.

Trapper once you know the good trap spots doesn’t require too too much thought. He’s also very mechanically simple.

Blight you need constant predictions and to be thinking of new attack angles based on what is nearby, in addition to him demanding a ton of mechanically difficult bounces.

Hag I don’t think is that mechanically difficult but definitely requires a ton of rapid decision making and planning each game.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1941417#Comment_1941417

Tinkerer is still a fantastic choice on him since he can sneak up to gens and possibly hit multiple survivors with POTD so I would keep this.

Ruin is still good but meh of course on its own, but I recommend using infectious fright instead of this. If you hear one too many survivors scream when downing a tormented survivor, then cage that survivor. If not, then just hook em.

Discordance on its own is still pretty great but was only really good because of its synergy with ruin. I would replace this perk with corrupt intervention.

Nurses calling would be decent on him since he can hit through walls and survivors wouldn't really expect it.

Honestly, ruin is still a strong perk and it can work on him, but it is a hex perk that is gone too soon (as usual). He is already more limited from killer perks like BBQ, they still work on him, but are just a bit less consistent on him. Whispers would be a nice option to put here as well.

So, a good build would be tinkerer, CI, nurses, and infectious fright. Pretty good synergy

Another one can be surveillance, whispers, dark devotion, and M&A. Also pretty good synergy.

Just know, that even though he doesn't benefit off of perks such as BBQ, he can still get value from it.

I don’t like tinkerer without pop, ruin, or a 1 shot killer. I feel it’s power is holding the same gen while clearing out a deadzone nearby. Phead doesn’t down people fast enough to pop the gen they were working on if they just hold W away after the tinkerer hit.

Im dumping ruin, the totem spawns are too trash to just be down a whole perk in the first minute of the game 1/2 the time. I’d rather have corrupt for that.

Nurses I don’t like without monitor. And I think stridor would be better for tunneling people out of cages.

I really don’t want to go into games without gen perks otherwise the games last like 5 minutes at red ranks and you are 100% relegated to hard tunneling or hitting every POTD like a machine; which isn’t possible against good survivors who actually juke.

So I’m thinking Corrupt, Pop, Monitor, Stridor / Sloppy?

  • Yes going from 5 truck sized hatchets (up to 8) that damage over pallets to a single precision shot that doesn’t damage over pallets is moving to easy mode.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1941449#Comment_1941449

Because Clown can control where survivors do and do NOT go.

Did you even read my post?!

It’s not just a 10% speed boost. Both bottle effects are meant to be used TOGETHER. Antidote first, Tonic second.

Ok? And the sum of both of those is a 30% speed differential. 20% slowdown with bleach, 10% speed up with an antidote bottle. Assuming perfect execution.

That’s still worse than a basekit spirit phase.

  • Nah he’s still pretty weak. You predict where you need to be a few seconds in advance for a 10% speed boost?

Why not just play spirit and predict where you need to be with a 60% or up to like a 150% (with addons) speed boost?

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1941238#Comment_1941238

Just hope she messes up honestly and try to juke her.

Stealth whenever you can and hold m1 on gens

What do you think his best build is since the nerf? I was doing ruin undying tinkerer discordance and still attempted a few games with it since the nerf.

It’s pretty dumpster tier now, 2 totems isn’t worth 2 perk slots.

I swapped out Undying for Pop but then ruin dies in the first 30 seconds of the game so I’m thinking of dumping it also.

Before I felt the play was use cages all the time but maybe now it’s hook, use pop, tunnel them off the hook, cage, tunnel them out of the cage, finish them.

So stridor or monitor to find them coming out of the cages easier?

  • Worse IMO, just because of moris. It’s a lot harder to rapidly eliminate a survivor without them.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1940029#Comment_1940029

Most people can't loop and hold a chase unless they get a hit-boost they can use to hold forward until the killer catches up for the 2nd hit. Leatherface eats that kind of survivor for breakfast making him seem op when in reality he's barely "decent" against strong survivors.

This is true. While I feel like there is relatively limited counter play to Bubba using bamboozle and purple chili; he can just be fed pallets and it won’t matter.

Meanwhile that same 6k could be like a rusty shackles hag, alchemist ring blight, swing chains Freddy, tombstone Myers, topknot Oni, etc all of which I feel are way stronger and less able to be looped

  • I mean there’s too many to list honestly. Like 75% of the totem spawns are super obvious.

  • @Exerath1992 said:

I think its a good combo dependant on killer. Trap killers and high mobility killers that can defend the lit totems well can use it nicely.

Except, you know, there’s no real way to defend them anymore because you will have no idea people are on them.

The only person who can really defend it is trapper. And it can just spawn in the open with no way to trap it.

Hag doesn’t want to defend 2 totems unless you are doing mint rag cheese and then Thrill of the hunt would be way better.

idk man didn't play him much before not at all after, basically he has more micromanagement on top of the standard killer micromanagement since now they say he has two potions to spend time mixing and one of them ironically buffs survivors' movespeed and sounds incredibly pointless lmao. If you use the yellow pot (I think that's the alacrity) he may be worse, and even if your skynet brain can handle the computations involved in using it effectively it sound slike it would make me pull my hair out since it isn't chill enough for me. This game is stressful enough as killer without the need to write a survivor prediction app and bring a calculator.

Oh I thought you meant they nerfed his purple bottles which I was going to say I didn’t notice a difference since I play him a decent amount.

The yellow bottles are not terrible, there’s some loops where you gas yourself on one side and throw slowing gas at the other and it basically instantly forces the pallet drop; in addition to some neat tricks you can do with it when approaching gens.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY8BPSQWZ74&t=5m55s

That pretty much shows one of the best uses for it I think. He also combines it with agitation for some ridiculously long basement hooks. Last I checked this guy was like #2 on the DBD leaderboard for most survivors downed while intoxicated, he plays a metric ton of clown.

  • @SocialDistomancy said:

Now that they buffed the survivor speed against the clown, idk, depends whether he uses the alacrity pot or not

They did? Is it not 15% slowdown base and 20% with bleach anymore?

Wraith just got a decent buff. I’d also argue with addons he is significantly better than pig. Stock I’m not sure they are both so trash.

But his yellow, green, purple, and ultra addons are better than pigs by a mile.

Legion can at least get some stuff going if he somehow gets off like a 3 man frenzy at the start of the game.

  • Hmmm I’m gonna go with Pig.

    Bad stealth, bad anti loop.

Total RNG power that borderline requires multiple purple addons to be scary. But then you can’t use addons to boost her dash from absolute garbage to just garbage.
