Good survivors will use it for distance not for baiting hits. Unless you play specific killer it's uncounterable when used to get free vaults/pallets.

I know, I literally just said that in a previous comment. That doesn't make it always the case. In many situations, you'll end up on the survivor and able to bait it out. Try it out in the game maybe if you're having a hard time with it. Dead Hard is fine for me.

This isn't the only example. Play the game and see for yourself. Everyone and their mother runs dead hard.

I do play the game, quite often, and it's an exhaustion perk, of course it's frequently used. It's easy enough to bait out once you get up to the survivor if you know they have it. Dead Hard isn't even that good as dedicated servers will frequently prefer the killer's swing over the perk. Dead Hard is used often because nobody wants to walk all over the map with Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing is too situational, Head On requires a specific build which can easily get you killed, and Lithe is just okay. You don't need an exhaustion perk, but every survivor is more than likely to bring one.

Yes DH is fine...... doesn't rob the killer of pressure when they outplay the survivor...

You're complaining they did a single loop at the shack and wasted god pallet at 5 gens? DH is fine the way it is, the killer wasn't robbed of anything. Seems like the pressure was going strong at the literal start of the game.

Then why do many low rank survivors use this perk? Must be useful if a majority of red ranks run it.

3,528 votes and 184 comments so far on Reddit

Because it can be useful, but not all the time. In its current state it doesn't even do what it's supposed to do due to dedicated servers. It's pretty trash unless you use it specifically to reach a pallet or window. In most cases the survivor will take the hit regardless and go down with exhaustion.

  • It's Dead Hard and no, it's fine. Infact, many players die because they run this perk and the dedicated servers eat their inputs.

Wraith not uncloaking when stunned/burned isn't map related btw. But it's just one killer, right? Only one out of 18, unlike survivors. That's why he's STILL not fixed, I guess.

What does that have to do with anything? Things need fixed, they're not exclusive to any role or killer. If the developers had a solution for this, it'd be resolved.

Yes and one sided of course because devs does. Basement bug was fixed a day or two after being reported. Nurse can't blinks at various spots like shack on swamp and various spot on yamaoka.

    • Fixed an issue that made it impossible for The Nurse to blink in the area around the base of the shrine in the Sanctum of Wrath map.
    • Fixed an issue that made it difficult for The Nurse to blink in or around the gazebo tile in the Yamaoka Estate maps.
    • Fixed an issue that made it difficult for The Nurse to blink in or around the shrine tile in the Yamaoka Estate maps.
    • Fixed an issue that made it impossible for The Nurse to blink around the shack tile in the Backwater Swamp maps.

Those were only fixed with 3.5.0. DS is bugged in a few days they will fix it.

What is with this dismissive attitude you feel the need to carry? I said they weren't good on either side, I didn't need an example of something they've yet to fix for a killer. It's one sided to view this as something positive like the comment I was referring toward. The severity of the bug and how easy of a possible fix determines when a bug is looked into and resolved. The developers aren't withholding fixes to benefit survivors. Reworking many structures for Nurse blinks could be more complicated and time consuming than you think.

Finally survivors know what it is like to have gamebreaking bugs. Killer have to get used to that for a long time now.

This train of thought is so toxic and one sided, bugs aren't good on either side. Survivors also frequently encounter bugs, were you even there for the basement bug a month ago ?

  • It's been alright beyond the few very obvious cheaters within the game on PC!

I'm so sick of this poorly thought out "Just don't tunnel" line. It's already been explained a million times that you can chase someone else, down and hook them, then find the DS survivor by chance, chase and down them, and STILL get hit with DS. I literally go out of my way to not tunnel and it still gets me, it's ridiculous.

I'm sick of hearing about this complaint. In the amount of time you've gone after another survivor, hooked them, and made it back to the DS user the one minute timer will nearly elapse. At that point you should kick the gen they're on or nearby and come back to them. The timer will run out by then.

  • This idea is terrible and brings back memories of the Legion mend timer exploit. You can easily enough follow a survivor while walking backwards at them. Decisive Strike is fine, if you don't like it simply don't tunnel the survivor after they're unhooked.

  • I'm not sure what this post really hopes to accomplish other show you have a serious bias yourself. Not every SWF is running meta perks nor are they out to get you with stacked DS/BT. Ruin skill checks can be difficult to hit and are a nightmare for some people simply unable to hit them, boiling it down to holding M1 and hitting space bar isn't exactly fair. I don't think Ruin needed a nerf, but I can understand the reason behind the change. I've yet to see an infinite within the game in it's current state, there are strong loops, but you should break off a chase or suffer the consequences on them. Toolboxes shouldn't increase generator speeds and generators need to be looked at with how fast they can be completed. Hit boxes in this game are absolutely awful and also need looked at.

  • It depends entirely on the killer you're playing. Some killers really needed Ruin, while others are over performing and far too easy to get a 4k on. Freddy is an easy example of this.

  • I just don't like Spirit or anything about her. Least liked character in the game, at least they finally gave her some clothes in the upcoming rift!

  • Nothing about that really sounds hard as a killer, and you get x500? extra bloodpoints for it as that's five offerings of Survivor Pudding.

  • @Murcielago said:

    Use kindred that'll help

Kindred doesn't help all the time, I've used it before and the baby Claudette and red rank Meg were too scared to come to the hook so I died on first hook after doing two generators and three hook saves. Red rank Meg sat behind a tree waiting for the killer to leave the third generator I was doing. Baby Claudette did circles around the main building.

  • As a survivor: Throwing myself at the hook in an attempt to save people before they die or get put into second state even if it puts me on it. Then watching the entire team just leave you to die and never bother to even attempt a save.

As a killer: Not using add-on combinations that are incredibly strong to make the game more entertaining only to get four people switch to Claudette at the last second with the most overpowered bullshit in the game.

I disagree he's only very strong if survivors are asleep

And the timer is always going without any input from Freddy, you'll almost always be in chases with someone asleep. He's too easy to play and mindgame with. Your power is even a mindgame until the survivors see snares or you'll get a free hit at fake pallets placed. If he was only strong in certain scenarios, he wouldn't have the top kill ratio.

  • I think he needs a nerf honestly, his kill ratio says it all. He's got far too much going on as a killer within the game and needs to be brought down to where other killers currently are. Using the argument, "He was a meme before so leave him be!" isn't very good. I would imagine the developers will do something about the fallout from Ruin, but Freddy is far too easy to play and do well as so he should be brought down a bit.

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/991872#Comment_991872

Can we not? Freddy was a meme for too long. Let him shine ffs.

He's way too powerful and easy to play, he needs a nerf. Saying an overpowered killer that was made into a meme beforehand is reason as to why he should stay overpowered is ridiculous.

  • He's fine, could do with some sort of a buff, but that could easily put him into top tier depending on what that is. Cannibal has no business being top tier in my opinion, he's essentially Hillbilly on training wheels with how easy and forgiving chainsaws are on him.

  • Hillbilly is fine as is. Freddy needs a nerf though.

  • While I understand the frustration from Ruin being nerfed, I feel like this post has a lot of biased opinions within it. There's an equally amount of frustrating bugs and problems on both sides. Hit boxes are wonky and generator speeds are too fast. Toolboxes as mentioned from others shouldn't work at all on generator speeds and certain ultra rare add-ons are just not fun at all to play against. Keys can feel cheap and so does Ebony Mori.

i do play surv more, even i have been constantly saying ruin needs a buff and a good one, no one is ever going to be happy about any changes one way or another

Ruin doesn't need a buff though, generator repair times need to be looked into. The best solution would be a secondary objective for survivors and if that becomes too difficult for new players, increase the difficulty based on the rank of the match.

  • I'm surprised and don't quite understand why they'd nerf Ruin, yet leave things such as Ebony Mori, Iridescent hatchets, or even allowing the stacking of ultra rare add-ons / offerings into the game. That's far more unfun in the game than simply dealing with Ruin for a newbie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Who says you didnt go after somebody else? You can down, hook somebody else and the person with ds active can be on a gen. Do you go search for someone else? You can still eat the ds afterwards. No tunneling, yet somehow ds as anti tunneling perk doing more than it should.

Then you smack them on the gen, swing at the survivor so it's a hit rather than a grab. If you went through the process of finding, downing, and hooking another survivor in that time frame then their DS timer is almost done regardless. Smack them down, Pop their generator since you just hooked the previous survivor, and wait a few seconds / patrol the downed DS user before you pick them up.

  • @Endstille said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/982212#Comment_982212

Uhm slugging solves nothing unless you slug all survivors. You can force killers to eat the ds, locker was explained but you can also try to force them into a grab via pallet vaulting.

Communication is a thing, since you know the bleedout timer is long i do usually know how long the person can still be on the ground while we push another gen while you are busy doing whatever.

Then you eat the DS so it's gone if they go into a locker. Nobody likes being tunneled straight off a hook so I'd say it's pretty deserved if they get to a locker first. Also, what? Pallet grabs are so rare and normally get cancelled out during the grab animation on live servers it's such a rare occurrence, you're so much more likely to smack them down while they vault. All of this can be avoided as well by just going after someone else.

  • Ruin didn't need a nerf, and neither does Decisive Strike really. Slugging the person isn't such a terrible thing as it means they're doing nothing for the team during that time and someone else has to hop off a generator to get them off the ground. There's already enough counterplay to where you can essentially make that a dead perk slot on their list.

  • The pass was too grindy, in my opinion. I play the game quite a lot, but I still found it to be too much unless I simply lived off the game like someone who streams it as their job. The price wasn't bad for the rewards given, but there's a bit too many charms that are just palette or texture swaps of the same design I'll never use. At that point I'd rather they just give me more bloodpoints or shards than reusing the same assets on something not many will utilize to begin with.

  • @itsmetimohthy said:

Here are my thoughts: If you have to rely on a single perk to help you out then please just keep at it and try and get better. Take as many L's as you need to because one day you will be able to destroy teams without relying on any one perk. Some of the best killers in this game don't even run ruin anymore, so this nerf is only going to hurt new killers and honestly? Good. This way they can learn with the training wheels off.

I'd agree with this if it wasn't for the fact that it's a one sided argument, you're removing training wheels while giving them to survivors. Ruin already had multiple counters to begin with if you weren't any good with hitting great skill checks and Pop is generally stronger than Ruin currently.

  • There's toxic behavior on both sides, it's not just that of survivors. Killers can be much more toxic than spamming a flashlight and tbagging if they choose. Generator rushing isn't exactly toxic behavior, it mostly means you're not applying an even amount of pressure as a killer.

  • He's not toxic, but it could be argued he should obtain somewhat of a nerf because of how easy it is to play him well.

  • This would only hinder solo survivors further should they choose to communicate with each other in the lobby screen.

  • Yes, they should be nerfed, nothing in this game is as game changing as an Ebony Mori.

  • The game is currently a complete mess. There's so many bugs that disconnecting shouldn't be penalized whatsoever right now. I just got out of a match where I could not wiggle, my screen was in a black void, and I could not move whatsoever. The killer then took advantage of myself being in this state by knocking me down while I couldn't move (The screen still being in that of a black void with clouds) and proceeded to go after my teammates in a 3 man game where I couldn't participate, ultimately getting a 4k because they took advantage of me and wouldn't hook me out of the game until everyone else was down so no hatch.

  • @Warno221B said:

Cannot take this post seriously. Couldn't stop laughing, survivors have only had a few things nerfed, which were needed. Killers have had much more nerfed and will probably be nerfed in the future.

As a killer and survivor main, the killer side has had much more changes mostly nerfs. Most recently nurse was nerfed regardless of the fatigue she suffers after blinking. Most survivors are entitled as hell.

This isn't exactly a fair argument to make, as of course there will be more killer related changes. Every killer within the game has their own add-ons, perk builds, and power where as survivors are all just skins of one another.

  • Spirit needs a nerf, not a buff to already strong addons.

  • Spirit is a cheap killer that isn't fun to play against, I personally feel she requires a nerf or a change to her power. That still doesn't excuse people to treat you that way for playing her.

  • It depends on the killer, sometimes it's a 2 and sometimes it's a 4. Certain killers need buffs while others need nerfs.

  • She's not fun to play against. It's really as simple as that.

  • Ghost Face doesn't need any sort of buff.

  • Yeah, he's a bit overpowered in the current state, snapping him out of the power is too difficult as he only needs to hide for a second, even though clearly being seen. Also, being able to get exposed on someone directly in front of them within two seconds is not stealthy, I'm frankly surprised that's even a thing.

  • Yeah, I can see his detection being reevaluated honestly, before it was way too easy, but now survivors can legitimately stare dead face at him and it won't matter. Also, Knife Belt Clip and Driver's License removes any sort of counter play to him as you can walk directly up to survivors and get the one hit down effect immediately, even while they stare at you before you start the stalk on them.

  • The only thing that should be removed from the lobby screen is seeing usernames from either side until the results screen at the end. Too often a killer or survivor will abuse this by trolling or downright making the game miserable for a single individual.

These changes do actually work with the original design of the killer. Compared to before, The Legion will be able to travel further while in Feral Frenzy, allowing them to apply Deep Wound to multiple survivors, while also discouraging using Feral Frenzy repeatedly against one survivor. At the same time, The Legion also gets increased movement speed to follow up and get a down.

I'm sorry but these changes are terrible and only serve to hurt the Legion more than actually change it for the better. Please reconsider what you're doing as this only proves to me that Legion is dead after this goes through.

Missed attacks should never cause their power to deplete, their speed should remain as it is while in Frenzy, and frenzy hits should do damage like it currently does. It takes four hits to down and you become stunned half of those hits should you decide to go that route. Turning them into an M1 killer that is easily loopable with a pointless power is ridiculous.

    @Shirtless_Myers

"There is no reason, at all, to remove their power entirely on missed attacks while in Frenzy. Why would they also nerf their movement speed while in Frenzy? "

1 - Well a lot of people did exploit the unintended use of Frenzy of Moonwalking for a long ass time, what did you expect?

"Hillbilly moves faster during his power, has an insta down, and no timer on his power."

    2 - Next in line for "re-work" - Billy

Just putting it out there into the universe.

Anyways Legions getting a butt load of buffs to accommodate for the removal of their cheese tactics so really there's no reason to complain unless you admit you only played Legion for the cheese which if you do is kind of sad.

"1 - Well a lot of people did exploit the unintended use of Frenzy of Moonwalking for a long ass time, what did you expect?"

That has nothing to do at all toward missed attacks while in Frenzy. It's good that they'd take out the cheese tactic, but that's heavy handed to nerf them to the point their power hurts them more heavily then the mend a survivor would be forced to go through if missed.

    "2 - Next in line for "re-work" - Billy"

I sincerely doubt they're changing Billy next, Nurse is much more broken with the correct add-ons. Freddy still needs that rework, too.

Legion needed changes to remove the unfair aspects that made it unfun to play against them, that much is true. These heavy handed nerfs however are awful and strip Legion of being anything more than an M1 killer with an easy first hit.

  • Oof. These changes straight out killed the Legion. There is no reason, at all, to remove their power entirely on missed attacks while in Frenzy. Why would they also nerf their movement speed while in Frenzy? This is disappointing news, and just leads into asking if they know how to balance at all? Hillbilly moves faster during his power, has an insta down, and no timer on his power.

  • Legion is currently broken and in need of some changes/fixes. It's not exactly fair being able to down a survivor while mending all because you can stare at the ground, breaking the chase while still following them. Frank's Mixtape is also unfair and in need of a change as three hits to down is too easy with the speed of Feral Frenzy and the free hits it gives. Also, by stacking the mending add-ons you force the survivors to mend for literal minutes. Probably a bug, but a game-breaking one at that.

Playing Legion the intended way is too weak, but playing Legion with the above is pretty broken so it's hard to see how their rework will actually resolve all of the above.

Because me actually playing BOTH sides at rank 1 puts me out of touch, rightttt. The difference and why you think otherwise here is because you don't and lack perspective. Also, there is no issue with hitboxes giving killers an advantage. This just shows you don't play killer to any meaningful extent as this has been debunked even on stream with the devs.

Jesus, this post is toxic and condescending while making baseless claims about me which you don't know.
