  • To expand on this, BHVR would allocate a budget (more complex = more time to create = costs more salary-wise) to every skin they approve of building out for release. The contest winner skins are going to be free, so they'll have a lower budget/time cap.

Having an effect like changing faces is absolutely doable (simple UV animation would suffice) and BHVR are aware of that, but it'd take longer to do. It'd effectively be a legendary skin, and BHVR don't want to sink the cost of developing a legendary that everyone gets for free.

Hopefully we'll get a similar style effect in the future, as it was a very cool idea... just expect it to be a very expensive skin.

  • The sound for it is bugged, the heartbeat is extremely quiet/occluded.

Spine Chill is an absolute must until it's fixed.

  • Achievements that rely on other people are typically awful — Evil Incarnate is an excellent example of this. Salty survivors will too often DC from your matches, either because they're grumpy and want to avoid the mori, or are aware that you're trying for the achievement specifically and will DC out of spite.

  • Web dev here. Having the wiki only show detailed descriptions on mouseover is, quite frankly, awful for user experience. If you're playing the game and bring up the wiki on your phone (for example) to quickly check a perk/addon should be painless instead of having to scroll and try to tap.

If there isn't a better place for people to go and check things, ping me. I can put together a quick, easy to use minisite if there's demand for one.

  • You can rebind the key. I bind it to mousewheel down, so lightly scrolling the mousewheel is enough to keep struggling.

  • Streamers: Otz is great, always happy to teach and experiment with new things while staying humble and reserved. Cahla and Umbra are excellent too, very personable. I prefer down to earth streamers rather than the over-the-top, loud ones.

Video content creators: Can I say Otz again? His content is super useful. SacrilegeGG is underrated (Kappa). Samination is fun to watch.

Gonna have to check out everyone mentioned here basically, as I really need to find new people to watch!

  • This is my most popular video (over 800,000 views), maybe some folks here will like it:

SacrilegeGG (@sacrilegegg) has created a short video on TikTok with music Thanks for the tag you wet towel. | Steve just wants to sneak outta here. #deadbydaylight #steveharrington #jakeruinseverything

edit: bah, the web player is silent by default. Gotta click that Speaker.

  • The winning designs will likely be in the free track of a Rift again, just like before. These won't be purchased skins.

With that said, I doubt we'll get face/mask changing on the Legion skin. That would involve a bunch of custom animation and coding (moving facial UVs around, etc) which would make it a "legendary" skin. And there's no way a legendary skin would go on a free track.

Ok so new ish to the game (console) so I love to play for fun, I dont run DS, BT or unbreakable.... is it because im only purple ranks or is it because i really just dont like these perks im not sure. I always run kindred, dark sense, spine chill and urban evasion.

I play with like 3 survivors that I have upto rank 50.

I just find the game easier to play when I know where people are and where the killer is.

So any tips from killer mains out there as I do want to get better at the game but in no way do I want to be seen as a "sweaty survivor" "tryhard" or my favorite "potato" (honey potatos are delicous.... tell me im wrong 🤣)

Information perks are awesome, but three of them is a little overkill. I personally always run Kindred (essential as a solo player, IMO), and Spine Chill is an excellent perk to prevent ambushes.

Your playstyle seems to be very much stealth at all costs, which is punishing you when you do get into chases. I'd suggest swapping out Dark Sense for Lithe, as that will help you escape chases and get back to stealthy play as soon as possible, as well as giving you a buffer of a few seconds at the start of the speed boost to look for a safer place to loop/hide instead of panicking and running into walls/corners.

The last perk would depend on how you typically play besides stealth/immersion. If you're altruistic and like to go for hook saves, Borrowed Time is excellent; if not, try a second-chance perk such as Decisive Strike (which you'll almost always get use out of, especially with the rise of tunnelling cross-play seems to be bringing). Urban Evasion just isn't too useful these days beyond memeing Neas.

    Just my $0.02

  • I was just booted to title screen with a "no network/connecting to server" for a few minutes too, so presumably the servers hiccuped for a minute or two.

  • Aww, I liked the stories...

  • Particle effects and lighting do seem to have a measurable impact on FPS on Lery's, mostly around the edges of the map (with windows and their dust particles).

Does lowering your in-game graphics quality to Low help at all?
