Yeaa Pip System for Killer is BS for sure.
You should get atleats Gold or something for 3 kills instead of Silver and its totally bs that killer need one tick more than survivors do on red Grades.
I mean I deserve the pip and probably all these survivors got +1 this is unfair for killers.
-
They should make it that if you get hit inside the exit gates it gets blocked like blood warden if you stayed there more than 15 seconds or something so no one waits for killer to tbag
-
Big part of survivor gameplay is the ability to look behind you for killers so if you play first person you will lose a chase quickly unless BHVR comes with a new idea.

Meh lockers are too small for werewolf

That's basically the we won't do anything about it answer.

Crazy how everyone is going through the same anxiety and stress. Everytime I get excited from watching streams or reading the forum I log in and I get all those flashbacks and all the running around I have to do again it's just too much, It's weird how I quickly went from playing killer only to both to eh let's just play 1 killer game and 5 survivor games and call it a day.
FOV as getting mentioned we need shadowborn basekit it's not that advantageous but it's a quality of life update for killers instead of wasting a perk slot for it, like we need a FOV slider that goes from normal killer FOV to shadowborn number and you can set your comfortable number.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons why I quit, up until this most recent MMR test.
I shouldn't be feeling nervous to play a game.
Exactly why playing a game makes us this nervous

I know the feeling - really started to hit me at 400ish hours, as I was gradually moving into more intermediate MMRs and facing a lot of SWFs and nasty builds, as well as some of the grossest, most BM people you can imagine.
It eventually went away (see: I finally became numb) at around 500.
I've found that setting myself challenges, like 2-hooking everyone before killing and not just being focused on the win helped me immensely.

It's half due to how stressful killer can be as a role and half due to just how genuinely unpleasant survivors can be when they win. Playing survivor, while certainly less engaging, is infinitely more relaxing.

FOV is another thing that it took me ages to adjust to - and I still get spun sometimes. The only killer that it feels really abysmal on is Sadako, where you can't see a thing in long grass and even occasionally get a bit motion sick.

This game is very much a toxic relationship simulator at times. You know that it's not good for you and yet you keep on coming back.
Yeah had a blast since I discovered DBD it's addictive too much even with all the issues I mentioned

It the game is making you feel anxious, then that's a sign for you take a break from it. No one's mental health is worth being affected due to a pixel.
Nothing wrong with video games none are as stressful for me even souls games I've played all of them pretty much were okay compared to the stress I'm getting from killer in DBD too many elements that are making the role that bad sadly but I'm trying to play more survivor it's way less mentally taxing.
-
@Aurelle said:
I get the same feeling. I get stressed by even thinking of playing killer, but when I do I just mentally prepare myself for all the potential BS that might occur. Playing killer just feels like playing a bully simulator these days.
Killer FOV is complete garbage, though. I can agree with that.
Yeah you lose track easily in many maps

@DyingWish92 said:
I get the anxiety feeling as well. Sometimes I click "play as killer" and just leave the screen for 5-10 minutes just staring at it not knowing if I'm ready to deal with the BS.
Killer FOV is utter trash allowing all sorts of ridiculous survivor jukes. So I'm in agreement there.
There is something really wrong with a game if it makes us feel that anxious.

Red Rank 1 isn't an indication of skill, it's an indication of how much time they've played and how much they've filled in the emblem system. Matching totally new players with red rank 1 is probably part of the system being a little iffy right now, but in general the grade scores aren't used for the matchmaking.
Rank 1 indicates skill somehow because a new player that barely knows how to play the game won't reach red ranks it's difficult enough to pip 5 times for each rank so it takes some skill to hit rank 1.
-
Did I say it's from valve? I said I remember every free to play game on steam and free mmo's had it long ago and it's notorious of being bad and meme material.
-
They're literally using free to play 2010 steam games anti cheat lol
-
Especially the 4th test I had only rank 1 survivors with tool boxes and god like looping skills, had poor games with Ghost face and huntress and I had enough so I played few nurse games but I managed to play well .
Nurse is killers equivalent to gen rush, boons, dead hard. God bless her.
-
Playing killer is miserable, the game is fun and addictive I'm just suffering through similar matches too.
-
The game is already too survivor sided DH , COH , tool boxes , gen rushing , sabotage , body blocking , flash lights , subtle cheaters and when you play with 4 other players using voice chat killers have no chance at winning because your location is communicated constantly between everyone so they know when to work on gens and when not. They can time body blocks and sabotages efficiently and flashlight saves which makes hooking someone way more difficult especially when someone is on death hook and the 4th survivor is always working on gens and they swap and every gen progress is known to everyone because of voice communication someone can always finish the gen when the killer chases the survivor that was repairing it .
Usually 4 stack swf runs the same perks that will give them a big advantage as a group so if you either slug or do anything else they have solutions plus the 5th perk slot for everyone ( COH ) but solo q everyone runs their own build that doesn't make the whole match impossible for killers like swf does.
This whole thing hurts solo q survivors too so I think nerfing swf is necessary either slow gen speed or limit swf to 2 players max it's easier to deal with 2-2 stacks than a 4 stack.

Deviousness is a Bloodpoint category and doesn't translate to emblems.
Looking at your emblems, Chaser is what dragged you down. If you use Plague's sickness to get survivors sick and broken before hitting them, you're hurting your Chaser emblem. It's the same as using an insta-down, it costs you points. Puking on a survivor to get them sick/broken doesn't count as getting a hit during a chase.
Your Devout emblem is silver. I'm going to guess that the survivor who escaped never got hooked once? If that's the case, that's what cost you the gold.
Here's a breakdown of all the emblems: https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Emblems
Take a good look at Chaser. It requires a lot, and hitting a survivor during a chase nets 55 points. Shorter chases also reward more points, but the time you spend puking on a survivor to get them broken probably takes a bit of time. A chase that ends in 0-15 seconds nets 90 points. 15-30 seconds only nets 60 points.
What's wrong with the pip system? The pip system sucks. It does not take each killer's unique powers into consideration and grades everyone on the same scale, which does not work in this game. Years ago it sounded like the devs were going to work on that, but no, this is still an issue.
Correct as you said killers with m2 abilities don't count that much not as effective especially ranged killers and nurse, I pip up more using m1 killers like Ghost face and wraith if I play him correctly and maybe hag she's boring but guarantees pip all the time.
Plague only pips if you 4k but since you need to puke too much on survivors to break them that hurts the chase right and as well as her blood puke insta down so either way you're screwed, I really wish the system was more grounded and less fragile when you play different killers.
-
@Sludge said:
MMR actively works against the emblem system, survivors try to end games as fast as possible while the emblems tell the killer to hold back and farm, can't really do much about it. It's a frustrating juggling act.
TragicSolitude explained it best in your other thread. I came to the same conclusion Tragic did, 1mill BP ain't worth the effort anymore.
Also don't use Plague, you get screwed by your power and 1 hit downs.
I have the same issue with different killers like huntress , slinger , wraith depends sometimes And nurse not only plague.
-
@WesCravenFan said:
Looking at how low the Survivors scored, my guess is that you did not let them play enough to be able to crush your emblems.
That, or your chases were so long and/or they healed so many times it killed it.

This is why people run Corrupt/Ruin/x Gen defense perk. Unless they changed it you get points for how many generators stay up for x amount of time which means if you had a rough early game the generator emblem is always going to be low even if you shred the survivors.

SWF is similar to cheating it's unfair for solo q survivors and for killers and at least make it that you can only play with 1 other friend max because 4 stack swf is just too brutal and unfair.

Try to ######### on hook quickly that's one option too

The game already has a very little amount of killers compared to survivors so blocking the remaining ones will cause you to get insanely longer queue times.

These problems are all coming from one thing the mmr...
As we all know, patrick said " we have no plan to; remove the mmr, make DS base kit and create a replay of the games played ..."(without the reason behind).
Since they respond to none of the questions directly in the FAQs and are rather concentrated on the global statistics, new content and fixing the lights issues that are affecting a part only of the players .The game is becoming corrupted by cheaters, bad gestion of priorities, and wrong objctives.
What they sould do is remake the game's code from the ground and stop doing content that will surely make the burden bigger on the players.
AND FORGET ABOUT MAKING AN ASYMETRICAL GAME COMPETITIVE !!!!!!!!!
(for three reason :
-firstly there is too many bugs in the game.
-hackers(reason a little weak but i think anyone will agree that it is a problem).
-Since when is a competitive game interesting when it is asymetrical and the two group of players haven't the same strength, nor the same number and without the same objective(not like hockey)).
That is my review of the state of dead by daylight at the présent day
To add to this every other * competitive * game that has ranked matches they have the normal games option too which is more casual and easier but in DBD everyone is forced into ranked.

Oh you mean before mmr was a thing ? the same mmr that caused most of the players to quit.. Yeah things were way difficult back then obviously.
-
From my experience Feng's are the most aggressive survivors ever they go for every flashlight save and hook body block and usually the most toxic next to Nea's and Claudette's .

Most famous ones don't seem that way their games seem too easy but streamers like CoconutRTS is legit in max mmr he has too many escapes and loses even that he is 7000 hours huntress main.

Yeah, you can be good at killing with a certain killer but not good at pipping with the same killer. It's one of those things that takes emblem knowledge and experimentation. It's a numbers game with needing a certain number of hooks and a certain number of won chases. And of course the Gatekeeper emblem, which benefits from gens going slowly, which is part of why inefficient survivors are so valuable when trying to pip.
This goes towards why I found getting to Iri 1 to not be worth the trouble. Pipping requires dragging out the match to get hooks and win chases while also preventing gens from getting done, which becomes a micro-managing nightmare if survivors are halfway decent. I also had too many matches where someone died on their first hook or disconnected, and then I had to inflate my Chaser emblem by slugging the remaining survivors at least once each before killing them to make sure I minimized the number of points that one survivor cost me. It would happen multiple times in a row, which led to me being quite annoyed that I had to kill to avoid depipping but probably couldn't pip up so I was just increasing my MMR while my grade stagnated and the matches went on for what felt like an eternity. Someone dying early damns the remaining survivors in terms of escaping, but it also damns the killer in terms of pipping. It was a huge relief if I managed to squeeze a pip out of a match with an early death/disconnect.
Nurse is a weird one due to her slow speed. Survivors are constantly gaining enough distance during chases that the game no longer actually considers them to be in a chase, which means the Nurse lost that chase. Then she gets closer and it starts a new chase, and the cycle continues until the survivor goes down or the Nurse focuses on someone else. If you're not a god-tier Nurse getting constant immediate downs, you're probably going to struggle with pipping. (I don't know for sure, though, because Nurse is practically impossible to play on console. I haven't played her since she had that power bar added to her Blinks.)
Adding to that nurse is a nightmare in most of the indoor maps if you're not good enough or good enough at predicting so during her cooldowns survivors can through multiple rooms and that's it you lost track and takes forever to find them again with her slow speed and I agree with everything you said I had similar experience when I used to win some games too quickly you'd need to leave survivors escape so you gain more points it's a very inconsistent system sadly too difficult in high mmr where everyone is efficient as you said.

The requirements for pipping change as you get to higher grades, getting more and more difficult. When you're in the Ash levels, you can probably pip without killing anyone. By the time you get to Iri, pipping requires kills.
But, my recommendation is that each time you reach a new grade (for example, going from Silver III to Silver II) you should play a few games where you don't try to pip. You cannot depip from Silver II back to Silver III, so there's no reason not to take a breather. Go for some matches without killing anyone and let your MMR go down. MMR is based solely on kills and has nothing to do with pips or grades. If you keep your MMR low, then hopefully you'll get survivors who are slower on gens and that alone will make pipping so much easier.
Reading this thread, I saw you understand the basics of how to pip (like that camping penalizes you), but if you have any questions about the specifics of the emblem system then feel free to ask. The emblem system has been unintuitive since before I started playing back in 2018. For example, a lot of people don't realize that playing a killer with a one-hit down can make pipping more difficult: Plague, Bubba, Ghostface, Myers, etc. hurt their own Chaser emblem by using their power. If you've ever wondered why a Trapper hits someone who's already stuck in a trap, it's because otherwise he doesn't get points for winning a chase. Legion, meanwhile, is basically guaranteed to get an iridescent Chaser emblem if he stabs people in feral frenzy, because each stab counts as winning a chase. (Legion suffers in the Malicious emblem, though, which penalizes killers when survivors heal, and I'm pretty sure Legion gets punished twice over because of the Deep Wound state. The Malicious emblem is the one I personally find most difficult to deal with; getting 4 kills is basically what's going to get it to gold or iri so it's like the annoying twin of the Devout emblem.)
Thank you for explaining and yeah the emblem system is weird I had matches before that I did really good ram around the map like a maniac did tons of chases and hooks and kills but didn't pip at all it I agree killers like nurse don't pip easily.

Maybe keep a record of all your games. Sometimes it’s easier to remember the bad matches and forget the good. A record would be useful to go over how you are really tracking. At 100hrs in you still should be getting some decent matches. I know MMR can go bonkers but I’m at 800 and still for the most part getting fair games.
I also saw you mention TTVs. Don’t be intimidated. Most are just normal players too and not at god tier. The last TTV I played against I went to chat to them after and they only had been playing for 3 weeks.
I also said that I always check their streams they're usually like prestige level 10+ minimum

Np :)
Besides the normal "get better" or "play Nurse/Blight" suggestions, there are a few other things that might help you pip while also avoiding high-MMR hell. These are how I got to Iri 1 as killer. If you already know this stuff, I apologize; you mentioned being new. (I also apologize that you got sucked into this game. It is extremely punishing for new players, and honestly I'm not sure it actually gets better once you gain experience.)
One thing to keep in mind is that every killer has their own somewhat-separate MMR. So, if you want to lower your MMR, you have to do it with the killer you'll be playing as. Memeing with Pig to get easier matches as Doctor won't work very well.
I'm sure you noticed that you can depip within a grade but can't depip to a lower grade. So, each time you make it to the next grade, go for a bunch of matches without killing anyone. Killing and killing alone is what raises MMR. Your grade is completely separate and unrelated to your MMR. All that stuff you do to pip, all those hooks you get, those are irrelevant to matchmaking, so feel free to continue practicing and getting better even when you're not killing. Try to enjoy those matches, throw seriousness out the window if you need to and remind yourself it's just a game.
If you're getting matches with experienced survivors despite letting everyone go for many matches in a row, then it's just not your day. Whenever the queue gets long, it starts throwing basically anyone together regardless of skill level to get them into a match. Your MMR becomes pretty much irrelevant when that happens. Unfortunately, this may be the main problem you're running into, and there's no getting around it except playing on different days or at different times of the day.
Yeah, that's cheesing the system, but I see nothing wrong with it when the system is bad in so many ways. The better solution would be for BHVR to improve their skill-based matchmaking system and fix emblems/pipping, but that could be a long time away if it ever even happens, and it's not something we the players have any control over, so in the meantime there's cheesing it.
No one asked, but if you're curious, I reached Iri 1 as Nemesis on PS4 with cross-play on in the North America region (I think East coast?). I used the perks Lightborn, Beast of Prey, BBQ, and either Distressing or Starstruck (Starstruck is good for ensuring you get hooks, but it can hurt the Chaser emblem). No add-ons. In case it's not obvious, that's not a good build. If you equip actually useful perks, you'll make it easier on yourself. Most killers should run at least one gen slowdown perk.
If you don't care about pipping and just want to have fun, then letting survivors go is your best bet to getting better matches. I've had times where I killed one survivor and suddenly my matches were filled with people running the meta. Pipping and having fun in the game shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but in my opinion they unfortunately are.
Like you mentioned, BHVR is testing new matchmaking systems, so if you had good matches before but aren't having good matches now it's hopefully just temporary. BHVR's skill-based matchmaking has been unpopular since the day it released, so I'm kind of glad to see they're working on it but also every time BHVR touches anything I get worried they'll make things worse. All we can do is wait and see, really, and give them feedback when they do these tests.
And I appreciate that you acknowledge how the game is not fair and all the issues unlike many that say play blight or nurse or similar solutions.

I'm saying you should go for the 12 Hooks if you're interested in Pips. If you don't care about Pips, you would tunnel and camp. If you want Pips but don't like how fast gens are going, play Nurse or Blight, I guess?
Well that's the problem you just confirmed that the game is not balanced and unfair if you don't play nurse or blight right ? I played the ######### out of them but they're too difficult I can't even down survivors with blight ability I don't want to play the dark souls version of killers to win.. All killers should be equally balanced and rewarding plus nurse is boring I don't enjoy her at all why would I torture myself playing her.
-
Let me explain my point you start playing as a new killer Main you I prove slowly till your mmr skyrockets in 100 hours only then you're trapped because there isn't an equal amount of killers and survivors the game decides that you're high enough to play against max mmr survivors but you're barely new compared to them so you're just trying to figure out chasing methods and practicing killers but in every match you face max mmr survivors that gen rush and loop effectively and watching famous streams playing DBD even pro killers are struggling so I literally have no chance.
The game is certainly survivor sided especially when they main survivor for thousands of hours killers can't compete.

I don't think I've ever reached Iri 1 as survivor. I struggled even to hit gold during the months I tried. Teammates are too inconsistent. Killer was rather easy to reach Iri 1 on, really, I didn't have to rely on teammates to pip, but it wasn't fun. One million BP for Iri 1 is nice, but then I spend it and it seems like I unlock so little for all that effort, so... yeah, it only took two months for the ridiculous grind and the stress of pipping to burn me out and convince me the grade rewards aren't worth it.
That's just me, though. With all sincerity, I hope you're able to get more out of grade rewards than I did.
Thank you for your amazing comments I appreciate it I wish everyone commented In such polite way

If you're interested in pips, then just go for the 12 Hooks and ignore the outcome of a match. If you're complaining about efficiency but don't play efficiently yourself, you don't really have a reason to complain
12 hooks ? How would you do that if you're struggling to hook 1 or 2 survivors ? Gens will get rushed too quickly they will deny you the 12 hooks everyone would escape before that with this meta and matchmaking.

what's the point of pressuring gens
There is none, pressuring gens is boring. Make the game something different, play your own thing. Hide-and-seek where the killer is the one hiding is good fun. I also like to play gate defender, where I open one exit gate and then guard the other.
If your goal is to pip, then I'm sorry, but that's a miserable ride. After two months in a row of getting to Iri 1 as killer, I just... I don't think I can do it again. Screw the BP. It's stressful; playing to win isn't fun in this game. If the devs completely got rid of depipping, it wouldn't be quite so bad, but being able to depip amps the stress level way up.
Yeah I just want to hit rank 1 both in survivor and killer at least once or twice then I won't care that much anymore gold is good enough for bp rewards

Hello fellow killer main!
As someone who started in the heyday of ranks...this game is infinitely better than it was for new/intermediate players. Before MMR, you'd be facing smurf premade after smurf premade.
A few things:
- When you first start, the game tends to favor killer. Once you start creeping into the low-intermediate MMRs (100 hours sounds just right), it becomes extremely survivor favored, at least until you've got a bunch of specific perks and have gotten a feel for looping and mindgames.
- When the game starts, immediately head to the exit gate furthest from you. Keep an eye out. 9 times out of 10, you'll either see someone or find them at the gen nearest the gate.
- Learn the difference between a 'safe' pallet and an 'unsafe' pallet. For a safe pallet - just charge in, force them to drop it.
- Try to grab BBQ, Discordance, Pain Resonance and Dead Man's Switch as soon as possible. These perks are pretty great on all killers and it'll be like night and day.
- Which killer are you learning, out of interest?
- If you see someone about to sabo, drop the survivor you are carrying immediately and chase them. This works so often.
- The easiest time to hit good survivors tends to be when they are vaulting.
- If you are facing 8000 hour survivors regularly, especially SWF, then either you're a prodigy or the system pooped itself. Keep in mind that they're doing MMR testing at present. For me, at 700 hours - I see people with either much higher hours or much lower hours...maybe 1 game in 5. Hopefully the new MMR changes will reduce this further.
- Yes, survivors tend to be very toxic in victory. Don't bother chasing them into the gates, just go and stand off to one side. It drives them insane.
Thank you for the valuable information :) I currently main ghost face and I'm trying to learn huntress I tried blight but I only won like 20% of the matches I played with him , I did well with nurse but then she became difficult for me probably because pro survivors can easily juke her , I bought most of the dlc's so I have decent perks , I didn't enjoy pyramid head he is too difficult can be easily dodged , oni isn't my cup of tea , slinger is too weak and slow but yeah I think I'm doing well mostly with Ghost Face because I'm used to stealth in other video games.
But as I said and you said too the system pooped itself because there isn't much killer players so me hitting red ranks even that I'm new doomed my mmr and the game only sacrifices me for the fun of high skill survivors so trying to learn a new killer is ridiculous because pro survivors will destroy and bully you because you can't play that killer perfectly.

u can alwqays play mega easy mode and win with no effort wich is equal to play nurse.
Nurse is difficult and speaking of nurse why the other killers ain't as good as her ? so if you want to win you need to main a boring killer like nurse and suffer through 500 hours to just learn her properly
