Or they can hard punish tunneling, for example by making gen speeds and healing faster for xx seconds when only one person got hooked twice in a row
I think the only fair response to tunneling is to give a repair speed to the remaining survivors when one is dead
like a 3% speed bonus of repairing multiplied by the amount of gens left
1 survivor dead at 5 gens = the remaining 3 survivors repair gens with a 15% bonus
Usually, if the killer doesn't tunnel, a survivor is dead with 1 or 2 gens left
So these survivors would be repairing the last 1 or 2 gens with a 3%/6% speed, which in my opinion is not that much considering the killer has the edge in chasing and keeping survivors away from the gens -

It doesn't matter that they are a minority of anon players we are not bringing back Bubba's original survivor masks just because a minority of players ruined that as well.
Anon players have an awful reputation for a reason, it just makes the game worse so it should be binned.
Being anonymous in a game to do whatever is not even close to be compared to actually using the game's assets for racism acts
Not even close

MMR can detect throwing the game? How? If dying several times in a row is considered "throwing", then they will ban all soloQ players.
Of course it can't
They are just desperate trying to find reasons to ruin the game

"Like I already said: Good luck trying to prove they are throwing the game.
Imagine if "playing bad" was a reportable offense? Is there a game that does that? lmao"
HAHAHAHHAHA
Yeah, literally every other game. This game has mmr, so it can detect based on previous behavior if you are throwing the match. But that's kinda not true because they also encourage game ruining challenges and behavior.
Also games saved by 4% vs games ruined by it are so uncompilable it's beyond laughable you brought it up.
Joke?

You know what they can do to make everyone happy?
Remove hook suicides, however every survivor still has 3 free chances to self unhook without compromising the hook timer. Done.
I guess its for the best, no?And then completely remove the skill checks when 2nd stage, just leave the survivor for 1 minute there. Maybe in case there are 2 survivors left in the game they should give a "die now" option if you are on hook.

That doesn't matter the majority of players that use cheats, exploits, hold hostage game, and generally play in a way that should not be endorsed use anon mode and they are emboldened by said anon mode.
The 2 biggest reasons it's there is to protect streamers so they can avoid being sniped but there is no consensus among streamers it makes the game better so what is the point? The other is to protect people from getting salty -reps and messages on console but if anyone gets so bent out of shape over what people think of an online identity that will likely never be remembered past 3 hours they can no longer play the game they just should not play it they need to go outside and touch grass tbh.
Why are we making game more comfortable for the types of players that should they leave the game will not be missed just so an extreme minority that both want and need an anon mode can have it? Bluntly it just makes the game worse and the reputation of anon players proves it so why keep it.
Minorities

- I only brought up reporting once, and that was in a example of a cheater, someone who should be able to be reported through Steam, not BHVR’s mess of a reporting system
- I do not check profiles unless it’s a TTV to see if they are live, the point of the thread was not “I don’t like Anon Mode because I can’t check people”, the point was “I do not like Anon Mode because the people who use it are #########”, which my varying screenshots show,
- What oh pray tell is the oh so important reason for this setting to exist? Because the only people I see using it are either big streamers or trolls with minimal exception
3. no they are not
-
Survivors can't have good perks
-
That should be a perk, not base kit

These are most of my games where someone gives up. I very rarely see people give up for "no reason". It's almost always because we were put into some sort of unwinnable situation.
Same, like 99% of the time
-
BHVR already said multiple times that the in-game report is enough for anonymous mode
Just record a video and send the report via website when is possible
There's no need for you to see their Steam profileBesides, if you are playing on Steam you can only see Steam profiles, like you mentioned, so what happens if the player is in another console? You won't be able to see their profile anyway, so it doesn't matter
Anonymous mode needs to stay, and people use it for a reason -

maybe tunnelling is only such a prevalent stregery because of what you just described you do you simply stand there an give it to them " I just give them the down and let go the skill checks." perhaps if you made an effort to run away an at very least waste the killers time it wouldn't be as prevalent. If you dislike tunnelling then stop faciliting it. Pop on some anti tunnel perks loop that killer for a bit gens will get done an you may even escape.
I would advise using anti tunnel perks an watching some videos about tiles an looping. I am happy to link you some if that would help. I use to get tunneled a lot when i was bad/new at the game now that i have improved It is very rare i get tunneled had many a killers throw the game trying to tunnel me. You need to punish killers for tunneling not reward them.Nope, until tunneling is not addressed by the devs I will continue to allow killers to tunnel me
Edit: Sorry, I mean I will allow killers to kill me if they want to tunnel

You have frustrations with other survivors not enjoying the game? Let me easily explain why, killers will hate this post because they know most of it is true but I'll be straight to the point with it.
Survivors have had the following butchered:
- Gens take longer to do
- Healing is currently ridiculously too slow so if a killer is fairly close it is virtually impossible to finish one heal if they have even 1 slowdown perk due to how fast killers currently move.
- Maps are ridiculously small or terribly redesigned
- Loops are 50/50 but with killer speed they start becoming useless fast
- survivor perks that would give you some sort of protection like dead hard is now butchered
- Boil over is useless and should be deleted from the game already
- Most PC killers still don't even feel the wiggle when carrying someone
- If you don't have at least one healing perk in moderate+ MMR games you can forget healing most of the time
- Survivors quit when 3 people are injured at the start before a gen is done because of the above healing issue, knowing it's useless to continue.
- Still nothing can be done about stopping a killer hard tunnelling without throwing the game unless your team is good
- Pallets are still 50/50 when they should 60/40 to survivor due to all the killer buffs and outdated pallet drop mechanics (Getting hit when you're in the pallet drop animation and the killer hasn't even finished the animation on their side)
- If a survivor does not bring a toolbox, unless the killer is bad you can forget finishing all the gens in time
- Ridiculously large hitboxes for killers still exist (huntress hatchets hitting you around corners for example)
- Nurse still exists in the game and impossible to beat unless she's awful at the game (killer has a headset which you can't reduce them hearing you at close range like iron will used to
- Unlimited map distance for range killers with miniscule objects in the way to stop them
- Still getting stuck on absolutely everything for no reason (Garbage map optimisation)
- PC players being able to play with filters (Clearly borderline cheating because it gives a lighting/tint advantage but if dev's don't want to address and accept that then so be it)
- Survivor perks are starting to become borderline useless and will continue to be when they continue to get massacred
- Killer movement speed is starting to get out of control when using survivor perks like lithe and they are still directly behind you within 3s (I honestly think this is a bug somewhere because killers should lose bloodlust but they don't, I also had a killer traverse 8 different rooms with me on his shoulders with 0 movement perks and without iron grasp (so clearly something is wrong)
- PTB is on PC so only the PC audience is being taken into consideration when getting feedback (one sided feedback, you do the math)
- Foliage such as bushes have also been nerfed on some maps so it's just chases unless again, the killer is bad as they were in 1 of my games today
- Turning animation for survivors needs to be adjusted and sped up slightly.
- Targeted before the game has even started for being TTV or a high prestige when you're just trying to chill
- Being forced to save teammates but they don't do the same back
- Being left on the hook
Of course you'll have the white knights who main killer saying "git good" or "skill issue" after this post because they win 3 games out of 10+ in the games that they play which suddenly makes them a legendary killer who magically knows all about the game and have secretly been watching you play DBD in your bedroom and magically knows your skill level, then get upset about a survivor tapping a button on the controller at the exit gate like it affects them in real life.
I used to get annoyed at people DC'ing but now? How can you blame them? They're not enjoying the match or the game anymore and you're at the sole mercy of the killer, these matches do tend to be funny at parts if you do decide to stay though, and there are nice killers.. I had one where 2 people DC'd and me and a random were still in the game, I let the Wesker practise chasing me probably for around 7 minutes or so while the random did other stuff and it was still fun. The point with this last para? People do have the right to choose and DBD is still a casual game, adding a harsher penalty than one already in place will hurt the player base.
I could go on forever with this post and this list but you get the gist.
Do you know what makes me "give up"? tunneling
If I get saved from the hook and the killer is nearby, and they come for me again, I just give them the down and let go the skill checks. If they wanna win so bad then I will help them
I'd say at least 50% of the survivor players giving up is because tunneling is such a prevalent strategy that nothing can be done. If tunneling was virtually impossible to do I'm positive the suicides would decrease

So you don't mind if the killer gives up after 3 gens pop without a hook? Yeah it sounds like a bad start but if you and the first guy tried you never know the outcome. I've seen bad starts where half make it out the gate in the end.
I don't. I finish all the gens and leave as quick as possible gg next match
-
@Marioneo said:
That being said its Time giving up on hook be removed
they then can go afk
they can throw the match
they can just walk around and do nothing
Sure, some of these things can be a bannable offense, but playing the game badly on purpose is not. Good luck trying to prove they are throwing the game.
And all of that just to stay in a game that is unwinnable. I rather go next asap
I much much much MUCH prefer having 300 games in a row with a survivor giving up at 5 gens than not having my games saved by a self unhook
-
@duygu said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3717008#Comment_3717008
because nobody likes to play matches that are already decided from the beginning
this is why loading with less than 4 survivors was changed to stop the game from loading
there's also a human player behind the killer who most likely doesn't want to waste time in an easy autopilot game just because survivor(s) didn't want to play
I agree with your first sentence completely
Thats why I argue that survivor players are giving up because they realize they can't win, the match is already decided
Its the same idea on both sides
-
@duygu said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3716992#Comment_3716992
it's also the objective of survivors to do gens and escape?
Yes, thats why I am questioning the decision up to the killer
-
@duygu said:
i would prefer instead that the killer has a way to quit the game prematurely for any reason just like survivors can. the perfect balance. if the killer doesnt want to play the game anymore he should open exit gates at any moment not just after 5 gens. this is also a counter to survivors giving up because you dont have to be stuck to play out a boring guaranteed win and you also give the rest of the survivors an escape for the inconvenience.
Why the killer though? Is their objective to kill the survivors
-
I just had a game against Plague where she immediately got her power and downed 2 survivors within seconds, and then she found me after hooking both of them, and the first survivor hooked killed themselves on hook
Now, did they give up at 5 gens? Yes.
Was it for no reason? No, that game started absurdly bad and the chances of us escaping were minimal
Do I care? No, I also gave up, because I rather move on with the next match as soon as possible -
Never had a great chase
-
Bots are not that strong as many people think:
they ignore gens that are super advanced if they are already set to do something (I've seen a bot walk pass a 99% gen and kept going, for no reason)
most of the time they just run around doing nothing (sometimes cleansing and opening chest)
their looping "skills" got severely downgraded over the past year
they miss skill checks for no reason
they open exit gates and escape as quick as possible (most of the time)
sometimes they bug out and just stand still, blocking gens, totems, even exit gate switches
I will be the first one to say I prefer DCs to just remove the player from the game instead of being replaced by bots
-
Its been a while indeed
But for the good

Maybe only on singu. As a survivors, who always run Botany, i don't remember other slugging killer which I didn't escape against, especially in swf. You will never win swf with slugging, unless they are too altruistic and make a lot of mistakes.
But you need to be prepared
Knock Out + Sloppy + Forced hesitation + blind add-ons or perk
also considering what killer are you playing, you change some things
Theres no way the survivors can escape, unless its a really good SWF team that avoid getting downed -
@fussy said:
Sabo buff. This is a thing that should not receive even the slightest buffs in any form.
tbf always slug is more efficient way to win as killer than hooking
-
Cannibal: making collision more forgiving and decreasing the tantrum time at the same time is a bit too much for me, I think doing 1 of those was enough. Decrease the collision but if you mess up you are punished, or the collision is still tight but if you mess up your punishment is more forgiving. Movement speed and tokens are also buffed, theres just no reason to not use the chainsaw anymore. A bit over tuned.
Deadlock: 5 seconds will not make that much of difference but I don't think the nerf was necessary
Pop: I would keep the 30% but reduce the activate time to 30 seconds (from 45)
Pain: just keep as it is but remove the scream (therefore not activating DMS)
DS: I would not change anything, DS only punishes tunneling
Buckle Up: Would keep the same but just remove the synergy of For The People
Borgo: I "like" the red, and I'm not a big fan of the new blue making the map looking just any other map already in the game. I would just make the colours easier to the eyes and also adding a bit of other colours like yellow, white and grey, saving the map's personality
Toolboxes and add-ons for sabo: I dont think they needed a buff, maybe increasing charges for brown and yellow toolboxes just for sabotaging was enough, just maybe
-
Among us
you can only queue up as survivor,
the match has 5 survivors
1 survivor is randomly chosen as the saboteur
the object is to still repair all 5 gens in the map and escape, but in a time limite of 5 minutes
Only indoor maps. No perks, add-ons and offerings
the saboteur needs to regress generators by exploding them (they don't have skill checks but have the explode button available with a 10 seconds cool down, generators regress in every explosion as if a skill check was missed)
only 1 survivor can work on a generator at time
the maps spawn with a few computers that the saboteur can use to sabotage the map, such as blocking all gens for a few seconds, force difficult skill checks to a specific survivor for a short duration, forcing an alarm that needs to be stopped in a short period of time or the generators are blocked for a long period
at any point any survivor can "arrest" any other survivor by coming closer to them and pressing a button, restraining that survivor for 30 seconds. The saboteur can do that as well. Faithful survivors gain extra points for restraining the saboteur, but the points are only revealed at the endgame score screen.
Final objective is all 4 "faithful" survivors to escape by the exit gates. If the timer runs out and at least 1 faithful doesn't escape the saboteur wins
I don't know, just a silly idea. Of course more stuff needs to be implemented for balancing reasons. Also, its too much work for just a modifier (considering the ones we already got)

I did a clutch save with Buckle Up and We Gonna Live Forever once, the killer even DC
-
New Buckle Up is useless, and its gonna be another low tier survivor perk that nobody is gonna run anymore
Current Buckle Up is perfect for extreme moments of the match, including slugging. They just need to remove the synergy with For The People
Please keep the current Buckle Up as it is

Ds is commonly ran with unbreakable so now you slug a survivor who can pick themselves up and lost where the next person is meanwhile two gens are being worked on. Congrats you lost the game being an anti tunneler who went out his way to avoid a ds user being aggressive
commonly, not always
even so, they are wasting their perk, unbreakable is more game changing during endgame

Sounds like you haven't played killer a day in your life. You get bodyblocked by a ds survivor in a door just ignore them right just go find another survivor across the map who's likely hiding now. These are all used as time wasters that don't cost map resources to pull off.

just slug them

I'm not saying that you need to nerf gen regression for it to happen. I'm simply stating that, as they make things less viable, killers will turn to strategies that survivors find "less fun" in order to continue to play in a viable way. So its just going to lead to less fun for everyone.
well, too bad
Aren't we supposed to repeat the moto "your fun is not my problem"?
-
Yeah, tunneling is back
-
It doesnt need any gen regression nerf to start slugging
You can equip Knock Out, Sloppy Butcher and other perks of your choice (perks and add-ons that cause blindness for example, perks for chase or some other slowdown that doesnt need hooking survivors), and always slug. This is without a doubt the most effective way to win any match as killer
