  • thats less an issue with the game mode, and more with said killers base kit needing improved though, that's like saying solo Q survivors need a medkit with addons to stay alive.

Gens taking longer did make camping stronger, that's why the hook timers were increased as one mistake was very unforgiving, and that change has helped ease up the pressure a little, why do you think reassurance is so good….?

Gen taking longer makes gen-rushing less effective. Like i said in my post, the map being smaller is what is making camping more effective.

if the smaller maps are to become the new norm, I feel killers need a wide range of reversions to the 6.1.0 ontop of S tier killers being adjusted.

They already are being adjusted. Blight is weaker, Billy is weaker in next patch. the stronger killer have continuously been nerfed however the killer buffs don't necessary buff weaker killer to be any closer to stronger killer.

it's also harder to hold W to get distance on mobility killers or use the fog to get away when they make a mistake.

it doesn't matter that map size is small or big for mobile killer. it will be hard to get distance on said killer regardless of map size. Like i said, the map size is buff to immobile killers because smaller maps make mobility a less valuable asset.

I still do not agree 60-80 percent kill rate

No killer are remotely close to 80% kill-rate on average and barely any of them are 60%. On average, the dev goals are way off, not even remotely hitting the target.

Gens being longer does nothing with Hyperfocus Stakeout etc. if people want to gen rushm they will co-ordinate a way

So you agree smaller maps are making the game more imbalanced then, that's what I'm getting from this.

Also they need further adjustments, pallet breaking ability/palletvaulting + High mobility + Short cooldowns is incredibly overtuned, I'm not saying to lose all 3, but something needs to be brought down.

It'd be better if killers with no mobility could gain the mobility the S tiers have, with a global mechanic like portals… which you glossed over. It solves a lot of problems without needing to rework every gd map.

Map size does matter, and distance does matter, Shift W is one of the most complained about things.

I don't think killer is easy at all. Can you post some of your gameplay to show us how easy it is?

They likely mean in casual games, the game is pretty unforgiving for both sides, but it's rare you actually get a SWF who is playing really try hard unless you play during peak time, which is when it's unforgiving for killer.

But as it stands if you play optimally at killer, it is killer sided rn, the stats even prove the point lol…

And no Nightlight etc is not a reliable resource as only select games get uploaded, it's part of the data, BHVR has all of it

You can‘t balance around weak and slow killers and leave the strong and fast ones untouched.

the thing is, it doesn't matter that a map is smaller for fast killers because the killer that are fast cross the map regardless of what size is. Like billy doesn't care that eyrie of crow or rotten fields became smaller. Making maps smaller only benefits killer that are immobile. Like suddenly, the mobility between Billy and Cannibal become smaller therefore map mobility is less relevant.

Something that dev have recently said is, "Due to longer gens, camping has become stronger". It is not gens taking longer that have made camping stronger. it is the map size. one of strength of mobility killers is that mobility killer are able to proxy camp more effectively at larget distances because they're able to return to the hook easier, often with intent to tunnel. The map size is why camping is stronger. Smaller maps allow weaker killers and all killer for that matter to camp hooks much easier because time it takes to return to the hook is significantly decreased. Hovering around hooks will be common the smaller map is. When a killer is immobile, like trapper, a trapper that is 50 meters away as opposed to 30 meters away has to evaluate returning to hook vs continuing a chase. The closer hook is, the less evaluation has to be given.

personally, from playing a lot of non-mobility killers, map size for me as killer has never been the issue in most cases. for me, biggest issue is often god pallets/pallet with no mindgame and god windows, windows that survivor can loop and you cannot do anything vs said window. when you play immobile killers, dropping chase is a lot more time expensive so 0 mindgame type loops are a lot more hurtful for those killers because a mobile killer can drop chases in poor positions where as immobile loses a lot of time regardless of what action they take in a lot of situations.

Thats not true at all, Nurse can teleport to anywhere on the map with a single teleport, always being in chase with information perks. Large maps are the only thing keeping these killers in check atm, hyper mobility needs looked at regardless, or more skill experession to counter them needs put in (Blight pallet break removed, Nurse/Spirit lightburn readded). It's harder to get hook saves as there is no way to take the killer away. Smaller maps still make high mobility killer pressure very strong, limited resources to fight back… it becomes a lost cause quickly. it's also harder to hold W to get distance on mobility killers or use the fog to get away when they make a mistake.

Gens taking longer did make camping stronger, that's why the hook timers were increased as one mistake was very unforgiving, and that change has helped ease up the pressure a little, why do you think reassurance is so good….?

Perks like surge gain more value, aura reading gets more value, there is just a lot which is more miserable in closer quarters.

if the smaller maps are to become the new norm, I feel killers need a wide range of reversions to the 6.1.0 ontop of S tier killers being adjusted.

I still do not agree 60-80 percent kill rate should ever be the goal, the game was more fun as killer and survivor pre 6.1.0 in ways, though changes have made the game better, a lot of it has made it very unforgiving for both sides when a mistake is made.

Small maps are awful for the game, low mobility killers just need help in ways like the portals from the dungeon map after hooks etc to allow them to reposition and the like or the halloween event.

  • @Crowman said:

It would be great if BHVR did, but they're already basically said they have no plans to do anything about it. Then they also shown they will even reward you for hook suiciding with the SM nerfs coming. Fully expect this problem to only get worse.

That literally has nothing to do with giving up, that's just general community disgust at her lol anyone who says otherwise doesn't pay attention.

I think it's fine that people can choose if they want to keep playing or not. Do I think there should be a punishment for Hook attempts? no, there is no way to tell the difference between someone taking attempts as its their only option and someone doing it to get out quickly. The issue is with the mechanic itself.

The answer would be to limit it to perks (then people would bring perks to get out early), or make attempts not use the bar up.

I'd rather players DC and leave a bot than give up on hook and leave with nothing, there isn't really a win win situation here.

Hens just released a video of his "best builds" for every killer. After sorting through the data, this is what I found:

    • Corrupt is present in 72.22% of builds
    • Pain Res is present in 61.11% of builds
    • Grim Embrace is present in 55.56% of builds
    • Ruin is present in 38.89% of builds
    • Undying is present in 27.78% of builds
    • Pentimento is present in 19.44% of builds
    • Sloppy Butcher is present in 13.89% of builds
    • BBQ, Rapid, and Blood Favor are all present in 11.11% of builds
    • The other 14 perks found were individually used less than 9% of the time

A total of 24 perks of the 124 total killer perks available were used. This is 19.35% of the total available killer perks that are being utilized for a competitive chance at winning.

Of the killers to buy for a new player:

    • Artist has a 100% return on investment, with all 3 of her perks being extremely meta
    • Blight has a 66.66% return on investment, with only 2 of his perks being meta
    • Both Hag and Plague have a 33.33% return on investment, with only 1 of each of their perks being meta (totem builds specifically)

The question of the decade is: why?
Why is the current state of the game allowed to exist like this? People act as if they don't know why the general feeling of the game is at an all time low for survivors, well here is the data. Survivors can barely finish a single generator before the killer snowball starts, meaning all gen progression is halted. Most of the time, killers win with at least 3 gens remaining.

I understand the need for gen regression, but this is way too much. The arbitrary 60% kill rate target across the board needs to be adjusted, or the base game mechanics of this game need to be overhauled. Introduce a secondary objective as an alternative win condition for both sides (not hatch). Make chases more interactive, giving agency to both survivor and killer. Give each map interactable elements unique to that specific realm that either act as a win condition or will help whichever side spent time interacting with said elements. ANYTHING so we can get away from this stale and boring gen slowdown meta. If all those options are off the table, corrupt and pain res both need significant nerfs.

What are the community's thoughts on this?

I echo your thoughts on this, it's putting me off playing the game atm even with the 300 percent rn, I mainly just keep an eye on here in hopes to see some meaningful feedback like this.

I think both sides could be improved and we should honestly be moving away from 60 percent across the board. Killer queues always take forever on EU coz of how over saturated the role is

  • I honestly would prefer the mode if no items/addons honestly

I away for s long... That I don't even know the term "lobby shopping" in DBD

it basically means killers looking for lobbies which suit them the most, it could be for a lot of fabricated reasons like the recent one is people dressed as defaults are pretending now, coz before it was people who were dressed in cosmetics… based on what I've seen people say, basically dodging what sbmm gives to you causing the current backfill issue. People dodge toolboxes etc also.

before it was avoiding prestige levels.

  • I think the worst spawns personally are the ones where they start split up, as that means possibly 3 gens being worked on from first chase.

  • I'd like this perk to just be more helpful honestly, not sure how I'd change it but anything better than what it is currently.

  • @dbd900bach said:

They don't really need one? Huntress has a lullaby because she has a smaller than normal terror radius, and it's also part of her lore to be humming a lullaby when hunting her prey. It's also important to gameplay as many players found out when an ultra rare skin had a much quieter lullaby than intended, allowing Huntress to get much closer than before.

Trickster and Deathslinger aren't in the same position with a normal 32m terror radius. Both would need their terror radius reduced to accomadate while potentially changing their gameplay for better or worse.

    Trickster has a lullaby too

  • I really wanted the cute gabriel pyjama skin too, it was really well done, I cant find it though

  • Lobby shopping has been getting worse recently, I think they should just make the lobby close if a killer leaves honestly, or impose a lockout.

  • Yeah Nemmy is really boring to play against now, especially with the hindered addon

  • The casual playerbase I play with finds the game very unforgiving, whether I watch them play killer or we play together on survivor, more and more I see complaints how the current game flow is very easily exploitable, and matchmaking encourages people to play competitively due to being matched with people of similliar skill.

    I personally dislike:
    -Shrinking of maps (Ormond, Coldwind)
-Hug Tech inconsistency (removed off dracula, kept on Wesker etc)
    -Tunneling being answered by perks
    -Anti-Camp is utterly worthless
    -Haste/Hinder Builds
-Snowball builds (both killer and survivor)

  • I'd love all the Silent Hill characters to recieve more love and care into their models, so much is wrong with them

  • @Xernoton said:

Great. Now every game goes 2 minutes because then the killer gives up or a survivor is already out of the match.

How about instead of giving killers a way out early, we actually hold people accountable for queueing up? As long as everyone follows the rules, you know exactly what you queued up for, so you should stay in the game or simply not queue up to begin with.

Maybe that says something about the state of the game for casual players right now, idk I feel more could be done to make the game more forgiving for both sides.

  • Please make this change, and fix her hair too, its all thin and wierd especially at the back its cut like its all the same length.

Why only for killers? Right now giving up on hook is far more detrimental to the health of the game, I'd rather co-survivors DC'd and left me with a bot, it's a huge issue right now.

I really don't think she should ever get haste for another team mate getting scanned, it's terrible design, makes some chases feel out of your control.

Why is it terrible design to reward killer for spreading pressure among other survivors? why is it terrible design for survivor to get punished for playing bad? It is not like haste is outside of survivor control. the drones very visible and have very simple counter-play. crouch.

My advice to OP is to just play Clown. that is my advice to all Skull merchant mains. The yellow bottle speed-up is very close to her current ability. it plays a little different then SM but the rewards are similar.

You really want to ask that? She does nothing but place a drone down and get rewarded, hag doesnt get this, trapper doesnt get this, Legion doesn't get this, the list goes on.

Not even Clown gets these free buffs and debuffs for flork all input. She is a killer for lazy players. Honestly… you all don't play the same game, she is the easiest killer I've ever played and whats your ability you press m2/ctrl and suddenly get 10 benefits. lmao

  • I'd love a feature like this

  • That's really not true at all, this change massively buffs his 4v1 which it's ignorant to say it doesn't, the 2.5second cd also allows him to use his powers in the 1v1 more often too.

The wolf form losing hug tech makes sense but it doesnt when they wont remove it off other killers like wesker and billy LMAO, seems they just want it to be used for tracking especially now with the shapeshift being faster

Some people will argue that one perk shouldn't nullify all killer perks and add-ons as killer is the power role.

But at the same time, Behavior needs to address aura reading and slow down on making them. With our current aura reading on add-ons and perks, it's quite easy to snowball a survivor especially with the bloodlust buffs and reduced speed boost a survivor already has. With these new changes, aura reading goes unchecked unless you run three perks:

Off The Record situational in regards to only working off hook.

Object of Obsession which always can make you a target because the killer always sees you. Sometimes I even see killers outright ignoring the OOO user as they can focus on other people as they will see the OOO user.

Shadowstep which is more limited and you have to be in a boon.

I don't see this as a good change for the future of solo-queue. They could have simply kept it a token system and caused it to regenerate in chase as many people pointed out, but they'd outright murdered the perk when aura reading is so prevalent in the game.

perhaps its time to revert the 6.1.0 base chase changes at this rate, or at least some of them

  • @Brimp said:

If a killer is running more than 2 aura reading then they are basically throwing.

Do you have data for that? Most times I've encountered aura read builds killers get a lot of pressure from their won chases and make better decisions. It's the early game which is the problem (something that needs looked at still)

the 2v8 reveal noise notification would be really helpful

  • Just more interesting hairstyles for males in general, like where are all the fun colourful cosmetics for males? Trickster gets tons but he is a killer… can we have survivors like that?

  • @YayC said:

You aren't hearing them dropped in chase because the sound is broken atm and it just flatout doesn't play alot of the time. I had a situation where someone dropped one while I was looking at them and I saw an animation of their hand and thought "what was that supposed to be" then got blinded by the silent flashbang.

This AND nemesis' tentacle is still bugged since his release, but Dracula got his fixed like first 2 or 3 weeks… lmaoooo then get told to bug report it, no? I'm not being payed for that.

  • I really don't think she should ever get haste for another team mate getting scanned, it's terrible design, makes some chases feel out of your control.

I feel every iteration had you lose for interacting with her power regardless of how you tried to counter it:

1st iteration: getting rid of drones traps you so she knew where you were
current iteration: getting rid of a drone still notifies her its been ridded of she can still return to it.

not to mention getting a claw trap in current gives you like every debuff known to DBD it feels like whilst also buffing her… It's so dumb. She just isn't fun at all to deal with. This needs to happen, that or her drones need severely limited to 3 or something so she can't just place them on gens and every loop hook window known to dbd.

  • I was really enjoying it, depending which killer I got, I love the horror gameplay and I like the no perks gameplay too (Focuses more on the fudementals). HOWEVER: It is an accessibility nightmare, and some killers shouldnt be allowed in the mode whatsoever, like you stopped freddy but allowed god knows who else (DREDGE, REALLY?!). Like it feels like they dont play their own game sometimes.

  • I feel it would be really nice to have the 2v8 aura revealed notification, I feel that would be really good for the game now, that way newer players know what they are up against to learn from it, like what weave attunement notifies and that's still useful.

  • Because Skull Merchant is the most boring thing to come out in this game, you are vastly outnumbered with this opinion and I don't understand why you are all coming out of the woodwork to guard the easiest and least interactive killer to play right now.

It's less that she is the most OP thing (she isn't) she is just very very unfun to play against or even as, she is a workhorse, someone who does alot with zero effort.

I do agree they could have communicated the intent better, but we know what it is and it's for the larger health of the game, other devs do this all the time with problematic characters, look as far as blizzard.

  • @Spirit_IsTheBest said:

I really don't know why they decided to remove the aura reading, there was nothing overpowered about it in the slightest, it only helped solo queue players and I'm really mad that they are removing it.

I was pretty happy with it now muting grunts of pain for as long as you are in the locker, while it stays with you for 30 seconds after leaving it, but removing the aura reading takes away an important part of the perk that some solo players (including myself) liked to use.

I made a post in the past on how I'd change the perk if you want to check it out:

    Buffing Lucky Star — BHVR

Devs, if you are going to go through with the change, I really don't care if you nerf the 30 second duration to like 20 or 10, but PLEASE bring back the survivor and closest generator reveal, removing it is not a good idea!

I would like if it showed the locker I was hiding in so I could use it with head on too, or just add that to head on please

it is very easy activate due to grim embrace. i think it is once per survivor so technically 4 times per game. you could be right and it is once per survivor per hook per activation. so for example if you hook someone with pain res, grim embrace. you tp with dredge. grim embrace activates. instead of it blocking all gens for 30 seconds, it will block first gen for 50 second and other gen will be 10 seconds. this is something i have to see in PTB to test functionality.

it's not once per survivor either, its once PER HOOK which means it works like Pop goes the weasel. Yes its still abusable but maybe give some feedback on how it could be improved, I'm sure they'll listen, maybe make it active on the gen with the most progress?

  • @SurvivorMentality said:

Yesterday in a match my character, a female, was in a dying state and instead of picking her up and hooking, the killer instead attempted to simulate sex on her. And did not stop despite male character teammates coming in to try and get in the way. I botted, and the killer then proceeded to do the same to the other female character in my SWF.

This isn't the first time it's happened when I play female characters. I'm a Twitch DBD streamer, so fortunately I was live at the time and could reference timestamps in my stream when I reported, and similar past incidents have had action taken on them.

But this shouldn't even be happening. It isn't funny. It is gross. It is violating. It is taking advantage of another's helpless state, and it isn't even in the list of ban-able offenses for the game.

I would love to see Behavior take some kind of action here. Personally, I'd love some kind of timer where if the killer stands over a prone survivor for a certain period of time, that survivor is teleported to a random spot on the map and only in an injured state instead of a dying one (would also help instances where killer is just following a survivor around, watching them bleed out). But, at the absolute least, collision should be adjusted so that a killer cannot stand on top of a prone survivor. They can grab/mori as usual being next to the survivor, there is no need to occupy the same space.

If they are going out their way to objectify you and harass you in chat I'd be agreeing, but if it's just ingame actions I bet you it's the slugging you on purpose and wasting your time which is being taken action upon, but I could be wrong.

I think your discomfort is valid, but I think you need to disconnect reality from the game a bit with your assumptions, if they are going out of their way to harass you then absoloutley it needs dealt with, but someone t-bagging or "air humping" as its called in gears where it originated from, I've had it happen when I play male characters too, just people wanting to act bigger than you.

I have had it happen to me a few times when I play, worst case of it was Dracula on the dog straddling my character using the pounce over and over to look questionable. But the player is wasting their own time doing that and you have to make that disconnect, or you're going to make the game miserable for yourself.

I hope you have better experiences in the future.

  • Maybe a step in their plans to change slugging also, you never know, may be the first step in their plans.

  • I like the idea of the new mori personally, makes the end of a match have more of a celebration as a killer player. I feel Moris are used outside of their designed intention as OP admits to. They are meant to be a reward from the Entity to kill by your own hand.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/426759/dead-mans-switch-rework-will-become-useless-and-easily-abused

i don't think people understand that DMS switch is getting deleted/nerfed to the ground. It only works first time the survivor EVER let's go of a gen. aka, it only works once per game and is gone forever.

it is completely useless. this is another perk that is worse THEN ORIGINAL which was 45 second of blocking but it only activates on obsession hooks. Why are they doing this? Because at some point, they said that grim embrace+dead man switch was being monitored and now that it has been monitored, it deems too strong so they're just deleting DMS because grim embrace.

No it's once per hook I believe, this change will make it good with pain res if survivors are caught off guard by it. Otherwise yes it'll be easily countered and played around. If it does work though that's a long time to be blocked from a gen, almost a mini corrupt, imagine with momentum you may even get multiple procs on different gens overlapping and people being forced to let go to go save.

it has potential, but it is situational.

  • I personally like modes like this, it's great for introducing newer people to the game with the simpler ruleset and the bigger focus on horror. The issue rn is the candles being a unique item which clashes with other killer designs.

I've been having a lot of fun with the mode, I like not playing against meta, I don't really care for always escaping but the keeping an eye out for killers, and the scares are really fun.

  • I think the candles are cool but killers like wesker/pinhead/Nemesis etc really mess up the intentional play, it'd probably make more sense if the candle was a normal item.

  • Give me a pretty male that's an original survivor with lots of cute and pretty cosmetics, thanks… an archetype we've not gotten yet I feel, Trickster is the only character like that.

That's all I've been asking for for years.

5% is a lot because every survivor is a force multiplier. It's 5% times three survivors on gens.

like 3 or 4 seconds per gen, I'd say the use for it is the new aura reading, that seems really valuable.

    The perk changes are wonderful

  • Sometimes it's not what is "strong" it's what is not fun, she is not a fun killer, a mistake. This choice was the correct step to take for the bigger picture of the games health until they actually rework her.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is selfish, there are so many killers in the game to choose from, and you can still play her if you want to. Survivors cannot choose who we are up against, we can't see who is being played. She is widely hated and for a good reason.

She didn't deserve any nerfs. i didn't expect them to straight up remove haste, only to weaken it to insignificant value like 1/2/3/4%. the silver lining is that freddy is supposedly getting reworked so eventually freddy will leave F-tier spot. Skull merchant will take his spot for awhile.

She really did, literally the entire playerbase hates her bar like a handful of voices in the community like yourself found on these forums, everyone I know despises her, she is not fun to play against, nerfs aren't always for what's overpowered. Her being rewarded for nothing she did is awful, terrible design.

I would rather do minor changes than completely change overall feel of the killer.

We have seen this with Trickster and I consider it a mistake.

They made tricksters hitboxes smaller? I had no idea, I feel his buffs to his movement speed were a step in the right direction but I do feel the extra hits were necessary to make sure his ricochet and pierce didnt get too out of hand… but they could have also just targetted those addons.
