    Why does everybody hate slugging?

What is so bad about it?

There is nothing wrong about it if you are playing as killer.

It makes it harder for survivors to escape if there are only two of them and you slugg one so you deny the opening of the hatch. That's why it is hated by survivors

Oh look at that as soon as a mod is mentioned you start damage control. Too bad you admitted to trying to get people to dc.

I don't deny that it serves my objective if a survivor disconects early in the match. If I can subteltily trigger that response on people who are prone to that, I will. Be it start the mori animation a couple of times, hit them when they are on the hook, camp them, etc

  • @TAG I thought you were so sure of your point of view. I respected that. Sure @Peanits give us your opinion

To clarify: I agree that spaming UNTIL a survivor disconects is surely griefing. Failing to complete the animation a couple of times and they incidentaly disconect before you can complete it is not. Are you telling me that all those pre-nerfed Legion players were grievers? I don't think so

  • I get into character:

    If im Pig: "GAME OVER"

If im Santa Clown: "Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!"

If Im Freddy: "Welcome to MY world B..."

I think Valve would be the obvious partner for Dead by Daylight. Might even be able to allow them to port Bill to consoles. And I've never had a problem with Valve unless DbD intends to try to make more than 1 sequel.

@Dehitay "...unless DbD intends to try to make more than 1 sequel"

Lol. I see what you did there ;-P

It is in their partnership contract!

I never used Wake Up at all. Even during the time it was bugged. Please don't make generalizations about all the survivors in the community when only some exploit it. I refuse to use it even without the glitch because I find it too situational.

@Crazewtboy If you refuse to bring "Wake up" or a key but still demand to easily escape as the last survivor, then there is no more to talk about ;-)

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

@RoKrueger Nice try, but you know as well as I do that once you lock on, there is little a survivor can do if you want them down. So, not exactly easy to counter. Add in a decent tunnel off the hook and easy Mori. Move to next guy, likely the idiot who saved the first. It is all a game of chance as to whether the killer is sharp-eyed enough to see you. I don't call that a counter.

@Warlock_2020 If I am facecamping a survivor, the best thing the other survivors can do is complete gens and leave. Those 3 survivors will have made more points that I did. If you don't want to be that survivor, be harder to find and catch. Of course, the rest of the survivors are welcome to try and save their friend. 7/10 times I get to kill one or two more :-D

Dude ######### mori spam. That's tantamount to holding the game hostage.

I'm sorry, but the intended bleedout timer is made nearly 4x longer by Mori spam. It has no effective purpose unlike camping and slugging.

    Mori spam IS toxic.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

@RoKrueger I think that is where your assumption goes awry. The survivors are only a team if they are SWF. The core development is not teamwork as much as self preservation. If you think teamwork is the name of the game, you have not played much solo survivor. Teamwork has its limits and they are not far from the starting line.

If a total stranger is being camped, your odds of survival are much higher if you pound out a gen or two in the time they are being camped. If a friend is being camped in your SWF, you can coordinate the other SWF members via comms to free them. Very different situation. As the stats have shown, most matches are not vs SWF groups.

@Warlock_2020 Then we are in agreement. If you don't want to be the camped survivor you just have to be sneakier or loop better than the other survivors. That way your chances of escaping will increase

What is the counterplay for the hooked survivor then? He'll lose the pip and time. Also he'll not get many points.

@Dr_Smith_ Sucks to be that guy. Try harder next time so you don't be that guy ;-)

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

@RoKrueger I'm just curious as to how mori spam is countered. Don't say "don't get caught " because that is a pure bs concept. I've yet to meet a survivor I could not down if I tried hard enough. Even the best survivor gets caught.

As for the original post, is camping/tunneling cheating? No. Is it exploiting mechanics? No. Is it fair? Absolutely not, especially at low ranks. As I stated above, every survivor gets caught. Once a low to mid rank survivor gets caught by a camper or tunneler, they are pretty much hosed.

But that is not what this is about. It is about you validating the activity in your own mind. So here are a few counter thoughts.

    1. As on occasional tactic, both have their uses, especially at the higher ranks.

    2. At lower ranks, it is bad for the game as a whole when there are so many hardcore campers and tunnelers. I played a few survivor matches last night and had 8 of 10 vs hardcore campers and tunnelers. Very boring, and sucked for some of the newbies who were victimized. As a few of them intimated, they have no interest in playing a game they can't actually learn to play. They enter a match, get caught easily one time because they are new, then tunneled to death. Not fun, hard to get new players to stay, therefore the playerbase grows stagnant.

    3. Makes for an already boring survivor role to be even more boring. Best thing to do when facing a camper/tunneled is to hit gens and totems and roll out. I think the overabundance of those types of killers had a part in the current gen rush problem. Survivors were pushed into a habit of hit gens and go.

@Warlock_2020 I see the survivors as a team, not as 4 individuals. If one of them is being camped or mori spamed, the rest of them have a huge window to complelte generators and escape.

When I say "Don't get caught" I mean "Don't be the easiest to catch of the group" that will increase your chances to escape because a smart killer will go for the weakest link first.

  • Don't get caught or serve as sacrifice to the camper so your team mates can escape

  • @KingB The question that you should be asking yourself instead as a killer is: "Do I CARE about what survivors think or feel?" The answer is always "NO". Do whatever you want and have fun. Don't worry, be happy ;-)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/554648#Comment_554648

They are strategies that you can use and help you win the game. What is not fair is face camp, mori spam.

@DarkGGhost I disagree with that part. Face camp and mori spam are also fair and countereable (the rest of the sirvivors should do generators)

I have a lot of hours in the game, so that might contribute to it unfortunately. That and when I do play survivor, I rarely play solo. Killers just hate me. :(

@GhostlyFoxx "Killers just hate me. :("

Don't say that! I'm sure other people hate you too :-P

  • Just look at her... LOOK AT HER!!!

That Laurie achievement was hard for me too, I suck as survivor XD

  • Unlock Clown with shards, buy Pig at the sale

  • I do not demand your respect. I just want you screams, blood and salty salty tears

  • No, the decorations are cool and they throw confetti when you hook a survivor or complete a generator! I like it!

  • Incidentally, this is basically how my Steam profile looks like with all those salty comments from dead survivors

See, funny thing is buddy, not everyone has people to play with 24/7. Funny how you can't make an argument without resorting to calling people "crying survivors". You clearly don't care, due to you being a killer main, but it is a balancing issue, and as someone who plays both sides, it needs to be BALANCED. Not unfair for either side.

@Crazewtboy I should have been more specific: I meant "teammates" not "friends".

And if 4 survivors could not complete 5 measly generators and you are the last one against the killer (try to remember the killer is supposed to be the power role) then it should be hard to be able to escape at this point. If you get to escape it feels great! But you have to be very good and have a lot of luck.

You can try using the perk "Wake up". What's the matter? Survivors aren't using it anymore since it is not bugged now???

Very true i say to myself hey maybe this person had a few bad games maybe they was really trolled or got abusive messages to give them reasons to be acting in this manner or maybe it is like you say a power role feeling because i play killer and it is not a power role in the slightest so maybe they enjoy that feeling or maybe its just fun.

But i have had really extremely bad games as killer its a role i play more so i have been frustrated and i have had many horrible messages but i would never resort to playing horrible or disrespectful because of it.

I guess its a state of mind and as i can see people will say oh its because of this i do these things (gen rush tunnelling etc) always a reason to do ucalled things in game and after.

Especially the messages on PlayStation its more personal as they have to spend the effort to message you and i have had very horrible ones from just using franklins lol

Also got told i was the worst pig main ever and i should give up or kill myself because im a failure..... I am still playing pig regardless because that is that persons opinion and it does not effect me in the slightest.

    ❤️🐷

@Darkskies "Also got told i was the worst pig main ever and i should give up or kill myself because im a failure"

What a nice trophy! I play on PC and leave my Steam profile open so dead survivors can leave their salty insults filled with anger and frustration. I call those comments my "trophies". I have 160 of those to this day. If you get that much hate from some entitled loser you shoud be proud! You ruined some spoiled child afternoon/evening! Good for you!!!

Of course I also lose matches, I don't keep the comments that they may leave me in those cases ;-P but I take the loss and play again or go do something else, those kind of people are below us, they don't matter at all.

  • @Darkskies said:

@RoKrueger me and yourself have very different attitudes but i can really respect how you play would love to play against you as i do feel you do fit the killer and seem to be that role and enjoy that role.

I get a feeling that you play decently and have a good understanding so toying like taking people to the hatch to mori them is just your signature So would be hella interesting to play against plus no matter what you did id say gg and wp.

I just dont understand why people are horrible like maybe you can help me understand if yould be so kind.

I had a clown mori spam me for 10 minutes and chuck bottles at me in-between doing this.. My question is why act like this?

Plenty of killers i have had face camping slashing me and nodding at me i honstly dont care about face camping but the repeated slashing and nodding why?

    🐷❤️

@Darkskies I think that clown did that because he had used an Ivory Memento mori offering and was starting and canceling the mori animation with the hope that you disconected so he could save the mori to use on another survivor. I saw it in a video recently and I plan to use that strategy in my next match.

The slashing and nodding is to assert dominance ;-) Again I guess is hoping that you get mad and disconect so the sacrifice gets done much faster. But, in my case, I also do it with the last survivor for the dominance part. It is particularly funny with Freddy or a frenzied Legion because they don't stop to clean their blades :-)

It's regreatable, but I think it will be dificult for you to suffer those tactics from my hand because I play in South America.

Of course I always write "GG" first thing in the chat, like you, then laugh at the survivors that insult me, but never at the survivors that also write "GG".

  • That's not toxic, that's just ussing addons efficiently. Toxic would be to offer an Ivory memento mori; then start and cancel the mori animation on a downed survivor again and again and again and again untill they have enough and disconect so you have eliminated a survivor and also save your mori to use on onether one of them. I saw it on a video recently and I will try that next :-D

  • In Chrome Movile. It stops responding when I press the "Edit" button.

  • Why do you people care about the emblem system anyway? It is rigged in favor of survivors. I just try to kill every survivor in whatever way I can (tunnel, camp, slugg, etc). Their salty tears are all the reward I need.

  • I like the state of the game as it is. I love to crush toxic survivors and laugh at their salty insults. I love to camp when I see the rest of the survivors around the hooked person trying to get my attention. I love to identify the weakest survivor of the bunch and eliminate it as fast as possible so the rest of the match becomes easier. And I love to mori the last survivor next to the hatch after I've looked for it for 5 minutes with that survivor on my shoulder (I've done that a couple of times).

Please don't take away my fun :-)

  • Please don't do it, it makes grabs harder

I agree, when I play killer and this happens I give the survivor the escape I Dont like having a free kill

@MissKitty95 I like to kill it anyway or follow it around until the Entity claims it

  • Sometimes the doors spawn too close from each other, sometimes they spawn too far from each other. Do you want to have it easy every single time little survivor? Quit your crying and complete all the generators with some friends still alive next time. If not, bring a key.

  • @Nea_Death_Experience said:

    Interesting reactions tbh.

Do you not find you get focused if you run no mither. I really feel that the killer goes for me and I often die first.

@Nea_Death_Experience Then you are not ready to use No Mither. Hardcore mode is not for you yet. Cool user name by the way :-)

  • @Paladin_Goo But only if you don't thank the streamer for all the information they gave you. Good manners are important. I never forget to do it, I usually get banned from their chat afterwards... go figure

  • @lasombra1979 said:

@deadmen2681 Show me a horror movie where people run in circles to avoid the killer. Oh yeah, in most horror movies, the killer does single out and kill one target at a time.

@lasombra1979 What about that T.V. show where 4 detectives and their talking dog drive around in their can solving mysteries?

  • Ha...ha...ha

  • I hate Bill, he messes with my tunneling and my slugging

  • Yes, you should

  • I loved to kill all those silly survivors that came running at me thinking I would farm with them last year. Please make it the kind of event where survivors and killers may work toghether so all can get a lot of points. I want to crush their hope and spit on their trust as I laugh at their broken corpses!

  • @Pierpalle said:

Name me another game where you lose when you are winning. I'm all ears.

@Rex_Huin I play at rank 4 both killer and survivor and they're not rare at all.

@Pierpalle "For the ones telling me about mori. I never use it because i play nurse i don't want to annihilate survivors."

Hahaha ooooh excuuuuuse me Mrs. Nurse ma'am. You are sooooo good you don't want to win soooo badly. Come on!!!! So ridiculous, I'm glad they used a key to escape from you. Serves you right

  • Do as I do: The toxicity and hatefull messages from dead survivors? I love it! I dwell in it! I feel sparks of joy whenever dead survivors write me insults filled with their salty blood and tears. I can only experience joy from the anguish of sore losers and entitled babies. I leave my Steam Profile open so those dead survivors can leave me comments (Those are my trophies, I have like 160 of them at the moment).

Toxic survivors that escape? I take the loss, write "GG" and be done with it. Their words can't hurt me because I have no regard for pesky survivors, they are below me. I know I will get them eventually

  • I like to include Rancor, so you get the information but your obsession only gets it if they are already in YOUR world.

But just have fun and use whatever, they are changing him soon anyway :,-(

  • Because survivors need to have a lot of oportunities to escape. Do you want to make them angry? Do you want them to be scared of a killer in a horror game? What is wrong with you???

  • I seem to be inadvertintly crashing people's games sometimes when I find, hit and down them at the start of the match or when they are one hook away from being sacrificed. The devs should look into it :-D

  • I like to read complaints in italian. I don't understand the lenguage but I picture Fat Tonny or one of his henchmen yelling them :-)

  • You don't have to smash buttons and hurt your delicate fingers: Just let it go, let it go ;-)

  • I don't care and I like the character they came up with, I too have a playful aproach some times when playing as killer

  • The only downside of using them as killer is that the survivors get the benefit too. I hate that. That is why I don't use BPS as killer. But I have so many of those gateaus that I find myself using them anyways :-(

Later I will have to use Ebony Moris 10 matches in a row to compensate ;-)

Best course of action is to let the camped survivor stay on the hook for as long as possible but rescue them before they die then have another survivor who hasn't been hooked bait the killer into attacking and hooking them. That way the timer starts over and you still have three survivors working on gens.

@Steve0333 If I get outplayed like that, I just chase and hook the one that just got rescued.

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 26
