Pity you assume I actually took it that seriously and assumed what I'm thinking or noticed. I saw. I'm just sick of seeing "now I see why" when it's because you dont play the role. Ofc you get campers in low ranks.

How about you just do you and let me do me. Considering you responding to me added NOTHING to the conversation, it only served as a purpose for you to try to make me seem like an idiot and/or make you feel better because you, for once, had a witty remark.

Bye hon. Dont take things too seriously maybe. <3

Yeah, you added tons to the conversation. Cya, salt mine.

The killer knocking you on the hook wasn't a Trapper by chance?

Was a Wraith, lol. I had a real angry Trapper too though, man camped me super hard after he finally downed me. In his defence, me and two other survivors were just tapping a gen in his face while he tried to swat us away.

  • You're here making a salty post while they are in another game.

Who is the salty one here? I'm not saying DC's don't suck, but think about this my guy.

Please, don't give up on killer's names.

You have done it with Ghost Face, instead of using something interesting like "The ghost" or "The stalker" you just went to "The Ghost Face".

Don't let this happen with the demogorgon, use another name like "The monster", "The creature", etc.

    Please.

I get it, I like how they do the killer's names but in the Ghost Face example, the Ghost would be silly since he isn't a Ghost and we have an actual Ghost, and we also have The Shape, who stalks as much if not more.

I think The Ghost Face is fine tbh, I can't think of anything else for him.

The same as every other "killer main here" that tries survivor. To complain that they're still in low rank killer territory because they either dont play survivor, or just arent any good.

Was actually more of a humorous look through the eyes of the enemy, a fun documentation of my experience so far and a fun conversations starter. Pity you're too busy taking it so seriously to notice most people on the thread are just having fun.

  • @Fab said:

Bro, you're playing with Rank 20s. It's completely different once you reach Green, Purple then Red ranks.

It's like that's the point of my entire thread or something, who knew?

  • It does. One thing that really needs addressing though I'm completely lost on how to do it fairly is the learning curve when first starting out. When you first start killing against other rank 20 survivors you will have a ball, it's very easy to 4k almost every game because killers thrive on survivor mistakes and they make them every few seconds. Failed skill checks, doing nothing at all, bad save attempts, attempts to get off the hook themselves for no good reason, unable to loop, getting lost...the list is endless.

As a killer you can make a lot of mistakes yourself but as long as you chase a new survivor they will go down pretty quickly. All the failed skill checks and bad play makes it easy to get a kill and once you have one it snowballs. On top of that, new survivors are lost and not doing anything for long periods of time so you are almost guaranteed an extra ten or so minutes to do what you need to.

What this results in is new survivor players going through hell but once they get better they can control the game much much better, and while killers are stronger than individual survivors a group of 4 good survivors will make life hell on an equally skilled killer especially with communication which is the key factor. Killers meanwhile have a whale of a time starting out but as you climb it starts to get harder and harder, you also hit pockets where rank 1-6 survivors are teaming up with a rank 17 friend and absolutely destroying your experience. The higher you get the harder it is to get a single kill and gens pop like crazy, endgame starts in about 6 minutes on average and every second counts and unless you're playing a very strong killer, basically Nurse or Spirit it's all out of your control. If both you and the survivors play perfectly, they win, you need them to make mistakes and the experience just gets worse and worse. It's like a loop, the survivors mirror the killer, start out in misery but higher ranks are pleasant while killers start out destroying and higher ranks become hell.

I don't know how this would be fixed to average it out for both groups and may be impossible but it's my experience so far. The worst part is that a lot (not all) survivor groups will blame the killer for any perceived slight such as if they think you're tunnelling without realising one of their group was just wrong place wrong time a lot, or if you use noed and as a group of 4 generally echo each other in the endgame chat while the killer stands alone and is basically there to be abused. It's why I try to be cordial no matter what happens in game.

I'm a survivor main that rarely plays a killer unless it's for BP or a daily ritual. I usually play as the Legion, mostly because I like their outfits and their mori.

I just want to start by saying that I fully expect people here to disagree with me or maybe even throw hate my way. I'll also likely forget to check back for comments. But I figured I'd just put my opinion down.

My friend and I have been playing this game for a good bit, like just after Michael was released. We sometimes spent 17 hours a day on the game on our days off because we loved it. Now we hate it and basically don't care anymore. It feels like there's no point trying to survive anymore. If you're not being camped or tunnelled, you have to deal with ######### teammates. My friend and I fix gens, unhook people, and even go back for people when Endgame has been triggered. But we almost never see the same from our teammates.

I won't say I'm a super skilled player. My looping skills are ######### but I'm decent at hiding and I'm pretty reliable when it comes to helping others. But it's gotten to the point where it feels like every update is geared towards helping killers and screwing over survivors. The game doesn't feel fun anymore. It's just something to do to pass the time. Hell, it's gotten to the point that when I do play a killer, I mostly just ######### off the whole match, pretending I'm gonna kill people just so the survivors have an easy match for once and don't have to die on the hook because of ######### teammates.

The game is woefully geared towards killer players and survivors are getting more and more selfish. I've played several matches where survivors intentionally lead a killer to me or follow me around the map making as much noise as possibly to draw the killer to us and then they bail so I get stuck with the killer. It's a lot of BS these days and the BP isn't worth it.

And as for killers, a lot of them aren't OP on their own but when you take some of their built-in abilities and stack other killer perks, it can quickly make certain killers OP and it makes it harder to survive. But it is what it is. I don't fault killers for trying to live their best lives. I do fault them for tunnelling and camping. I won't apologize for saying that those are incredibly annoying techniques that suck the fun right out of the game, especially when you FINALLY have a match where your team is trying to help. My friend and I have gotten to the point where we don't try if we see the match going to ######### because no one else is trying just so we don't get enough BP to rank up because then we might ger better matches. It's sad to say that technique has actually kind of worked. Ranks 14 & 15 seem to be a sweet spot. For us, anyway.

I know everyone has their opinions. And I'm no saint. I've sent some hate mail to killers and other survivors and I'm not proud of that. Sometimes we all get too caught up in the heat of the moment and do things we shouldn't. But I've stopped with the hate mail because, at the end of the day, it is just a game and most of us just want to try and have some fun with it. Every game is going to have its trolls and people that abuse the system, as unfortunate as that is.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day and manages to have some fun. Life is too short for all the bullshit, ya know?

I agree, camping and tunnelling is an awful experience and it really does suck, which is why as a killer main I strive to do neither. Obviously sometimes a survivor will just keep running into me and I won't just ignore them if it happens so they die pretty quickly because of bad luck/hiding teammates/obliviousness to surroundings but I won't tunnel off the hook or focus them if I run into several.

That being said I think you've very wrong if you think the game is geared towards killers. Yes, killers a much more powerful than survivors in most cases unless your survivor is a pro at looping but that's the point, there are 4 survivors so on average if you get tunnelled or camped it can feel like it's geared towards killers but anybody with experience against even competent survivor teams can tell you that it's difficult and we don't have the advantage you think we do.

I do not see the logic, where Legion receives a stun of 4 seconds at any time, if it chains 1 survivor and stops Feral Frenzy ... is this balanced? While the nurse to receive a stun of 4 seconds must throw 5 tps. ######### BEHAVIOUR, is this really balanced?

Balanced legion? Please ... it's the most useless thing that has ever existed in Dead by daylight. Why doesn't Behavior admit that Legion is in a very bad state?

    It is so simple that:

That his stun be less as many blows to the survivors with Feral Frenzy. The more HITS (chains) LESS the Stun will be. Easy, Behavior?

    • 1 Hit with Feral Frenzy and stop the abilite: 4 seconds of stun
    • 2 Hit with Feral Frenzy and stop the abilite: 3 seconds of stun
    • 3 Hit with Feral Frenzy and stop the abilite: 2 seconds of stun
    • 4 Hit with Feral Frenzy and stop the abilite: 1 seconds of stun

Making Legion more fun and not BORED ... a 4-second stun does NOTHING FUN to play it. The devs should have realized according to their statistics that the killer should be the least played ... Why? It's a mystery....

Although we ask you to make some small changes, the devs will make what they think.

I'd like that as a change actually but two things.

1: Nobody thinks they are balanced, not even the devs so what are you talking about? We know.

2: Apples and oranges, nurse gets stunned after teleport or a single hit, Legion after entire power bar or possible 5 hits. You can't compare the two like that, they are different enough to be inconpsrable

Whenever you bring up camping on these forums, many killer mains get very defensive and say that it's a legit strategy and survivors have to deal with it and get better. And yes, it is a legitimate strategy, no doubt. But the problem is that that's just bad game design, nothing more and nothing less.

People on these forums want the killers to be rewarded for not camping, but I personally feel like the game could need both. Rewarding the killer for not camping, but also making camping less effective than it is now. Right now, especially on lower ranks, it's too good of a strategy for how little skill is required and how unfun it is to go against the strategy. And I know that people will argue that there have been punishments that were tried in the ptb and were abused by survivors. But I'm very sure that there are ways to not make these punishments for camping abusable by survivors.

Camping isn't a good strategy right now though unless your group decides to do nothing or run into the killers arms while you are being camped. The punishment is you get one hook and next to no points.

The only reward comes from players being dumb and that isn't a Dev problem.

  • @sailormars said:

When does you start seeing good survivors and non-tunneling/camping killers? Lol never. People want swf taken out, but it's the only way to have fun in this game as a survivor. I'm in red ranks and trust me, you get survivors like this MOST times. Very rarely you'll get a group of survivors who are on top of ######### that pump out Gens and go for hook saves. Even at this rank, most survivors you get are going to urban around the map and leave you to die on first hook. Or they can't loop for ######### and will go down almost immediately. That's how this game is. And killers at red ranks... Mostly Spirits as that's the only killer that doesn't have a hard learning curve like Nurse but has almost 0 counter play except iron will. Killers also still camp Hooks at this rank and for sure tunnel, so good luck.

Lol I did actually find some survivors who did gens. I saved both of them from hook with borrowed time plays and eventually went down. I run kindred, one was clearly being chased by killer, the other two just sat with their fingers in the gens, not moving. I died. Sad part is in those two mins they still didn't finish the gens cos ruin.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

"When do survivors start doing gens and stuff?"

Well, my little youngling, this screenshot was taken when I was rank 1.

    https://i.imgur.com/W8BYSj6.png

    This was my first hook.

Those two were still crouched like that by the time I took the screenshot (that's why I took it). I'm clearly in stage two.

The other person was being chased by the Killer.

    I died on that hook.

    Good luck.

Oh no...this is exactly what happened to me several times, except I was a Laurie. This is rank 1??

  • @NoShinyPony said:

You are playing together with survivors and killers who start to learn how the game works. New survivors are super careful and too scared to do gens and killers camp the survivor once they downed them. You should be fine in green ranks.

Yeah I know, this isn't really a complaint thread, just me documenting my walk on the other side.

  • @prayer_survivor said:

dind't you see moris yet? Being a surv in low levels is the opposite of a person having fun, and this will kill this game. But devs, go on improving killers and nerfing survivors, in few months you'll play alone.

Okay let me address this. First, yeah, Legion with a pink mori.

Second, not a single one of my issues had anything to do with game balance so what are you talking about? Killers aren't op, cept nurse and maybe spirit, most are actually woefully underpowered when it comes to dealing with experienced survivors.

My issues all came from player behaviour and one instance of a terrible connection. The devs and balance can't be blamed for camping, tunneling, useless teammates and the game has a learning curve, that's fine. Most new players from the St dlc won't stay and that would be the case in any game, some will love it here and stay.

  • These people that complain when something is slightly similar to something already in the game...and I mean slightly, it's not really that similar to anything...how many unique things there are that can be put into the game? If we throw something we are huntress or clown, instant downs are Myers and ghostface, stealth is wraith and ghostface and it goes on and on and on.

With this many characters things may follow the same path. It happens. The magnitude and combination can still be special.

  • I think I just saw somebody complain hook blocking is bad too, lol. I'm done.

Seriously, you can't compare survivor blocking, literally taking a hit to try and save a teammate, sacrificing an actual health state, to what killer used to be able to do. Camp the face with zero hope of unhooking, nothing could make them move.

Survivors doing this put themselves at risk to try and get the save, if they pull it off then they kind of deserve it. If it happens to you a lot just run mad grit, it was literally put in the game just to deal with that.

  • Doesn't leaning mark them faster? Could be confirmation bias but I'm pretty confident it does and is much harder to break you out. I like leaning.

More importantly I get the frustration because it is a bad way to teach people how to Ghostface and a tough target to hit. You don't want to 100% them through leaning g unless they are close, I lean to get 99% stalk on my targets then finish it right up close where they can't escape easily and get to a loop. Basically, you wanna use the stalk a little like Myers but this daily goes against that since you need to finish while leaning to get the points.

    Hello to anyone and everyone,

I am very aware that this game has been out for three years now, and this is no doubt an exhausted topic, however, I just had a match with good ol' Leather Face and of course he was running Insidious and of course stood in the basement and waited for us to come make the rescue. You can then guess what happened.

I had a quick thought about how to maybe come up with something to help stop/minimise camping at the hook by killers. Just like Kindred where you can see the aura of the killer if they are standing too close while the person is on the hook, what if there was an automatically generated aura of the killer that spans further than the effects of Kindred, after a certain amount of time which would inform the other survivors whether or not they should bother even going if for the hook rescue.

'Well then why not just run Kindred, huh?'

Well my educated friend, I shouldn't have to run a perk each match for the off chance that they are going to stand in my face or in the corner of the room, quietly humming the Thomas the Tank Engine theme tune until they can spill more blood up the walls, hmm?

Nothing worse than an arrogant Leather Face typing 'EZ' in the chat for doing jack. End of. And then you have the luxury of taking abuse from the other survivors for not try to make the save. You can't win.

No doubt killers will still stand at the hook regardless, but it's a nice way of knowing that if a killer downs you in a game that they did it by catching you and not luring you all to an entity based death. I don't want those prats getting blood points for doing absolutely nothing. ENTITY IS MOST DISPLEASED.

If you have any comments on this or want to point out a flaw in my argument then let me know in a constructive and civilised way and it would be most appreciated.

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy playing regardless. And who knows whether or not this will fall on deaf ears, but there's no point in complaining about something if you're not trying to do something to change it, hmm?

All my love with hugs and kisses

    Stuart.

That's what perks are for, you run them to have the advantage in certain situations so why you down on kindred? Never mind that it's a great perk even when not being camped since it helps your team realise someone is going for the unhook so stay on gens.

Just accept you got camped and move on. It sucks, it's a crappy and unfun playstyle to run into but it happens.

  • Depends really. If somebody is teabagging me I will prioritise throwing them on the hook and not care if I'm tunneling but I won't chase a teabagger I know is strong at looping.

With a normal survivor I try not to tunnel early on but if you bag I won't care so it does have some affect.

  • I think I'd focus on fixing Legion. I'm not sure how, either second attacks add certain effects and reduce the deep wound timer or cancelling manually adds a much shorter stun so that you can use it to chase properly.

I really think deep wound is too weak now, just being in terror radius shouldn't be enough to stop it, maybe it should only stop it going below 15%.

As a killer who de-ranks, I'll share this point of view:

I started playing in 2016, took a break mid 2017 and picked it up again late 2018.

The customization aspect of this game is what appeals to me the most, so naturally it's my goal to unlock every perk on every character.

Unlocking things is a grind and a not always fun one at that.

Until I unlock everything and am able to play the game with 100% customizable characters, this game is about grinding. And the key to efficient grinding is optimized time management.

For me that means running two key killer perks, Rancor and BBQ.

I usually try to one hook and then let everyone go except the obsession, who I'll try to murder in glorious fashion once gens are done(which happens quickly cuz I don't run ruin), it's actually a pretty fun metagame as they will often try to protect the obsession and I'll do my best to get em.

Climbing ladder rn is stupid because the matches take longer in both wait lobbies and actual games and only a handful of killers are viable at those ranks, not to mention the fact that there is no reward for running tougher trials.

The strat I utilize keeps me in the 15-20 range as killing a survivor and sacking no one always yields either a safety pip or a negative pip, matches take anywhere from 8-15 min. And I pull in 40k -50k bp for my trouble, all while having fun and keeping my blood pressure low.

Maybe when I finally unlock everything(or they incentivise it somehow) Ill go for the red ranks, until then I'll enjoy the game this way.

This is a wonderful game to play, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it right now.

  • It happens. I'm a killer main, I've played only a handful of survivor games this month. One was today, I ran the killer around for a few minutes while my team did only two gens, got hooked. Killer didn't camp but instead patrolled the area around the hook while all 3 survivors ignored both gens and me until I went into struggle. They rescue me, I immediately get downed again cos no borrowed time, dead.

It just happens. I assume my low survivor rank has a lot to do with it but conversely I had a killer game as Myers, got a reasonable number of hooks but was ultimately gen rushed. Caught one at the end, hooked them up and the gate was 5 feet away, so i stayed. They rushed the hook, I popped ew3 and traded 1 for 2. I'm sure I was considered a camper there but I had no other option, it was guard my one kill or let all 4 go.

they give so many escapes cause they wanted to avoid hopelessness. Why would anyone think the killer wouldn’t get the same treatment.

Hey at least Adrenaline doesn’t have a in game counter. Unlike noed

Noed IS the adrenaline counter. It counters adrenaline.

  • Have you considered the hooks might be gone? A few times I have downed somebody at the gate and the nearby hooks are all used up so I just drop em. If I try to make it to a hook I know is too far away they can just wiggle out and run back to the gate. At that point it's a lost cause unless I leave em on the floor before they can open it.

Yet this kind of silence makes it feel like they dont seek to improve these things , I hate to be so cynical but..the last two killers everyone was like " oo, could these be a good- oh...nerfs..never mind..." at least everyone knew legion was terrible from the get go..so to just let them flounder with no regards as to how they felt the results were just seems like a slap to the face..and now they're tinkering with nurse..? Bluntly put I'm tired of just trusting they'll do the right thing...tired of trying to defend them but then get ignored...sorry kind of ranted there a moment..I'm frustrated

Silence? A Dev or Dev rep answered you not long after you posted this. You have your answer. What's wrong with you?

  • Sometimes it is, but depending on how they react to it, sometimes it isn't. At the very least if there are only 3 gens left and one is in narnia you can have an alarm system for it and patrol the other two.

  • The problem with LF as you get past rank 12 isn't that he is super weak, it's that he isn't Billy. He has only one advantage over Billy and to get that advantage you need to either insidious camp or get a bunch of idiots.

I don't know if I should take your comment seriously or not. Because with Trapper or Hag, their traps do more than just slow down. They end chase. Trapper stops survivors in their tracks with the bear trap and Hag teleport to the traps and usually gets a hit off.

Freddy's snares just slows survivor down and the slow doesn't stack. So compared to those two, is not worth.

I think his point is combined with his teleport it's a legit tracking strategy and map pressure. Say you're getting gen rushed, they need two more. With ten snares you can completely block two gens then just go look for them around the others. They can't touch those gens without alerting you and it takes you second to get there at any distance. If you want to apply pressure and slow the game down to a manageable pace it's pretty good until they figure you out and bait it, but then you get more mindgames, fake a teleport, teleport to a different gen. If they are busy trying to bait you then you still slowed em down.

  • They were only mildly complaining, mostly asking for an animation for survivors who hit one. Nothing to slow you, just a reaction. Would be cool.

I see. I thought people complained that isn't fun being repeatedly chased by the killer, which I think it's fun. I didn't know that it was because it isn't fun for the others who are NOT being chased. That makes more sense, and changed my perspective, thank you.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/591041#Comment_591041

How so it isn't fun being chased? How do you deserve being chased? I don't understand your opinion.

Let me give you a scenario. You're playing dbd, you get caught, you get hooked. Happens all the time, that's fine. You get unhooked and the killer immediately goes straight for you ignoring everybody else. Second hook. Thankfully you get hooked again and the killer is immediately back on you, downs you, removes you from the game.

You got next to no points and spent most of your time on a hook. You probably depipped because of the killers playstyle and not what you did. If you were teabagging the killer or clicking at him yiu deserved it, if not you just had a very unfun experience.

I'm a killer main BTW, but I see the frustration. It's like when I just get gen rushed or the game I had a few hours ago where some David followed me and every time I got a down he would flashlight save. I'm rank 12, he was rank 2, even looking at a wall he got one from the side.

It's a viable tactic just like tunneling but it's super frustrating for the other player. I will tunnel if I'm getting gen rushed, because I have to slow the game down but tunneling in a normal game is bad form.

I will admit that after that David game I put on a red mori and didn't care though...I'm sorry for the innocents I got in the next game.

  • I think you're crazy. The totem perks are exceptionally strong, some of the strongest in the game with a few outliers. The fact they are vulnerable is the trade off. Ruin is so powerful that even with it being removed most of the time it still is in most top builds, that should tell you how strong the effect is. If devour hope was untouchable until active it would be crazy. It lets you one shot anybody!

The totems need new hiding places at best, or thrill effect should be default so you can try to protect your totems without needing another totem perk. That's it, really.
