That makes sense, maybe possible on the new gens ? Yes it wouldn’t be fair for older gens , <3

Its not really a "generation of console" issue, its in that you cant build a UI for consoles that use gamepads, like you can for a PC that uses keyboard and mouse as interfaces.

Frankly we are lucky we even have a head/body/legs/weapon(charm) slot.

Tbh just dont buy the DLC that you dont like. I dont see that the backpack on a skin is optional or toggleble. You get what you see.

    Sorry.

  • An idea might be to institute that if Survivors play without an Item, they earn bonus BP.

Or implement an item for Survivors that fills that slot, and does nothing other than increase BP.

So if they dont use any items, and thus receive bonus BP.

This interestingly might work wonders for SWF vs Killer balance, as Otz's analysis and testing indicated Survivor items have an ENORMOUS impact on win ratios.

some of the cosmetics are part of the rift so I don’t have choice into buying it… and I only brought 3 with a back pack… camo top and black bag are actualy cute ! Zarainas are the only non clunky ones & The pink nea top with I think it’s a skateboard I didn’t no it had a back pack until after I had brought it… also there is nothing wrong with putting forward a idea of having a toggle option.. also I asking people’s opinion on if they like it or not I don’t know why you have a stick ………. If I don’t like the cosmetic I don’t buy it … so I’m lost in your point ….

Some people make youtube vids of what cosmetics look rotated on the models in 3d, so I recommend you watch some of those before making a purchase of cosmetic in the future.

As to a "backpack" toggle, I dont see how that could be implemented into this games UI that already has trouble even with how to organize perks, let alone cosmetic items, let alone how to "toggle" on charms on Survivors.

This is largely due to the cross-platform nature of this program. On PC it would be no problem, but not so for consoles.

  • If I go into a store, I see many things I dont want, or dont "like", or perhaps cant afford at their set price.

I dont go to the store clerk and tell them "I dont like the things you have here, and I dont want to buy them".

Apparently you dont like backpack cosmetics, but Im sure there are many others that do, or specifically they wouldnt be on the shop shelves.

But to be honest, i haven't gotten messages as bad as those, now i feel silly for getting upset over the messages ive been getting haha 😅

The point stands that im sick of getting rude messages though, it can kill my motivation to play killer when i actually really want to play it.

If you are in such a tenuous mental balance were messages online may put you into an even worse psychiatric condition, I think its good advise to seek professional help, disable messaging in games, and possibly discontinue some forms of online multiplayer gaming until your mental balance has improved.

Instead of holding toxic scumbags accountable you blame the victim of the toxicity? Not a good mindset my guy.

Calling someone a "scumbag" is toxic also, is it not?

Everyone is responsible for their own actions, and that includes you, whether you perceive yourself as a "victim" or not.

Toxicity is subjective. What is toxic to you is not toxic to another, and vice versa.

The killer hidding it not a bit and uses as a twin tricksters knifes that one ######### people and other stupid stuff. I didn't want to dc because you know... Bhvr bans people for it :) So I just stayed there and did nothing. Suddenly it began to extremely lag before my game froze completely. Well I thought it was my game but my whole console didn't react anymore. I waited a bit and suddenly it just went off completely, not turning on again... Thanks bhvt, now I have to repair it C:

Killers get considerably more BP though, and survivors also have an a lot harder time getting specific items from the webs (let alone from chests) because they have every item and add-on appear on there whereas the killer obviously only has their respective add-ons. It is just as possible for a killer to regularly use their best add-ons as it is for a survivor, at least if the killer player does not switch characters too frequently. Plus survivor add-ons - which are necessary to actually make items impactful in most cases - do get consumed after every trial, and cannot be found in chests either (not without using Ace In The Hole anyway). And the strongest add-ons (Styptic, Syringe) even consume the item on use.

It's not really about how comparable to each other these things are in every aspect though. It's about the concept that you cannot look at the most stacked survivor side loadout and not consider that the balance equivalent to that is the most stacked killer loadout, even if there is a notable difference in appearance percentages between those things in global matches (however, like I said, it is vanishingly rare to actually have 4 survivors all stacked with the best items, it is much more common to see killers with the best add-ons, since they are just one person having to make that decision). I do think it is too much if you actually have all 4 survivors each using the best items and add-ons, which is part of why I suggest SWF should not be able to stack items, since they as opposed to random groups are otherwise actually able to consistently make that happen.

Did you actually watch the Otz vid at the start of this thread?

Its not though! What? lol Killing 2 survivors IS NOT A WIN FOR KILLER! Are you ok!? lol

It is though. You however arent considering it from the Killer perspective.

1K is a loss. 2K is a win. 3K is rare. 4K is hens teeth, and this the further up the matchmaking.

Inversely, for Survivor TEAM, 1K is a win, and 2K is a team loss. They must get more than half of the Survivors out.

  • @Edilibs

"What? Your trying to confuse things for no reason. I said i consider a 2k with Brutal or Ruthless a draw or going even with survivor and a 2k with Entity Displeased as a loss. Of course 1k is win for the survivor lol."

My questions are... where are these people when I play Survivor?? and Why do I keep getting these teams even with Killers I rarely use??

"Think twice before writing something"? I don't care if you think what I said is stupid or I'm stupid or whatever, but there is absolutely zero reason to be rude.

In either case, do you not think them being a comp team has anything to do with it? Since Dowsey is not a comp killer, and that comp players on both sides play differently?

Comp teams/killers not typically playing in ranked matches does not invalidate my initial post that a comp team != your average swf.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2581828#Comment_2581828

I don't think we should be balancing around comp teams. Comp play is also really ######### boring. What I want is for solo q to be buffed to the average swf level though, and killers to be buffed accordingly.

The comp SWF/voice team deliberately limited themselves, yet they still wiped the floor with the Killer.

    Spirit is still S tier.

Also, Oracle is a comp team, and Dowsey is also not a comp killer and the swf you are seeing on a day to day is absolutely not comp swfs.

and do you really think Dowsey/{insert big streamer here} doesn't go against good SWFs on a daily basis when he plays? How many games does Dowsey get 0 kills like that lately? No one is saying swfs offer an advantage solo doesn't have and that facing them aren't challenges, but to use a video of comp team vs a non-comp killer is disingenuous for this argument.

"but to use a video of comp team vs a non-comp killer is disingenuous for this argument."

It shows that Killers are not in a good state of balance. A non-comp Killer should do fairly well against a comp team, but doesnt, as your post also illustrates.

So you are going to have to decide how you want to spin this, and if you try to spin it too hard, you just end up showing your own bias, like you did above.

Cant something be done to cause the loading to drop earlier, without it taking 5-10mins of waiting?

  • This hatch "solution" was directly caused by the innately and originally rather stupid key implementation.

Ive never played with keys as Survivor and keys led to abuse against Killers by especially SWF teams on voice that (wrongly) thought that was funny, valid or fair.

Arguably, the hatch itself also was somewhat of a stupid implementation, but atleast it had the caveat benefit of providing a way out for the last solo Survivor, and now it does just and only that.

It will still appear if you are last alive.

Yeah that's strange. i'd also bet on it being deactivated from blessing a totem. I do think that thana and thrill should apply to blessing as well.

I cant test it, cos I havent bought Mikaela (and I wont do so), and it will likely be a long time till the two Boon Perks cycle into Shrine store for purchase with shards.

But Im sure there are many others here that did buy Mikaela with those perks and have DS, that can test this simply.

If it is so, that DS is not disabled by Blessing, then the patchnotes are not wrong or ommitting, and the (tbh quite authoritative) wiki is wrong.

But also, if it is so that Blessing doesnt disable DS as cleansing has and does, thats a problem, and raises questions why not.

And especially whether BHVR did that deliberately so as to prompt DLC purchase of the only Survivor that carries those perks, only to "oops, fix this later".

Bonuses DO stack additively. Penalties, however, do not.

Example: Resilience and Spine Chill while doing a gen stack by adding 9% + 6% = 15% increased repair speed.

Example 2: Let’s say I’m stacking Thrill and Thana for totem cleansing, and assume everyone is injured and there are 5 totems on the map. This is figured by:

    1-0.2=0.8 (thana)

    1-0.5=0.5 (thrill)

Then multiply and subtract from 1:

    0.5 * 0.8 = 0.4

    1-0.4=0.6, or 60% penalty.

So you’re cleansing now at 0.4 charges per second, so it is 14/0.4 = 35 seconds to cleanse the totem.

    edit: quoted wrong comment, sorry

There you demonstrate a core problem, especially in an assymetric arragement, eere one (or rather 4 each, and combined, with 16 perks) get additive bonuses towards a combined goal, and the one in opposition gets diminished returns as a systemic penalty from multiplicative, from just 4 perks.

The magnitudes of perks are an issue, but more so their application, and evenmoreso that stacking them is not efficient.

If a Killer slots 2/4 with Thana and Thrill, for a "perfect" 60% multiplicatively, he has to have each Survivor injured, dying or hooked (dead are not counted, and there too Thana has a reduced return the more Killer eliminates), and on the Thrill part, it diminishes if totems are destroyed, and its all gone if his Hex totem is destroyed OR as now BHVR decided, is Blessed.

That "should" be additive, to 70%, and as we know, if a Killer can do that above to facilitate that, its been over anyways for Survivors and they have failed the Trial long before their "penalties" stacked.

The fact that the fan website only changed the description, but didn't add a corresponding entry into the changelog only makes me doubt the information's accuracy.

I think someone made the change on the wiki page based on what the contributing user thought happened without a source and without testing it.

That could be omission by lack of reference because there is no reference in changelog to refer to, because it wasnt included in said changelog, but was implemented nonetheless.

    We have here 3 issues:

    1) Do Thrill and Thana stack how? (They should stack additively as perks applicative to all Killers. Addons have the situation of multiplicative, as Killer specific) to prevent undue stacking).

    2) Do all Totems, blessed, hexed or dark stack in tokens to related perks? (They should, as regardless of its status, if its not destroyed, its still a Totem.)

    3) Is DS disengaged by blessing? (It should, because its linked to the cleansing mechanic).

The last one is fairly simple to test, and if it is so that it does, then patchnotes ommitted that mention, and the wiki source is accurate, and likely also of all other changes regarding the extension of cleansing mechanic as analogous to this new blessing function, also in perks.

As is typical of a changes like this, especially by BHVR, they overlook things, and its the community that finds those mistakes or ommissions, as the penultimate QA source.

I don't see why you would think a fan site would know better than the official patchnotes, but, you are free to see it that way.

Ive been gaming for a very long time.

Patchnotes frequently are riddled with omissions, sometimes accidental, sometimes deliberate as "stealth nerfs/buffs".

    @sizzlingmario4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2576656#Comment_2576656

It does stack for cleansing, but it’s multiplicative, not additive. So it would only be 60%, not 70.

I think someone updated the wiki to say thana impacts blessing speeds without actually testing properly. I tried it last night in a KYF and it did not work.

    I have not tested DS.

Thana "should" affect blessing speed, as its tied to the same mechanic as cleansing.

IE: With the introduction of Blessing, now, it "should" also cascade in direct proportion to all perks that involved Totem actions, to maintain consistency.

It would be an abberation if Thana did not affect Blessing in the same % proportion as it does Cleansing.

As to the additive/multiplicative precedent in DBD of multiple perks of the same effect, my understanding has been they "should" be applied additively, with the exception that addons may be multiplicative as they are Killer specific.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2576656#Comment_2576656

There's nothing in the patch notes about a change to decisive strike. While the unofficial wiki you referenced does list blessing a totem in the description, there is also no listing in the perk changelog since 4.6

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/298

Then we have a a dilemma, whether patchnotes are omitting, and in-game tooltips, or this regularly accepted "unofficial" source has determined it from code.

I would bet on the latter.

And it would be a "bad" decision by BHVR, if Thrill and Thana both would not affect equally Blessing as they already did Cleansing (of which Blessing is an extension), and to which the same mechanics ought apply.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2576608#Comment_2576608

Yes, I meant stacks as in the number of tokens on the perk.

The amount of tokens on Thrill "should" be the total amount of Totems whether Hexed, Blessed or Dark.

If the Totem exists, it doesnt matter what form its in. So if for example Survivors Cleanse (ie: destroy) all other Totems and Bless the remaining 4, then Thrill should still run with 4 tokens (and also if Killer de-blesses them, as they revert but are not destroyed).

Crucial to that, is Killers cant destroy Totems out of the game, only Survivors can. Also crucial to that is that Killers currently cant designate Totems for their Hexes, but Survivors, now, can designate them for their Boons, ans also reapply them indefinitely.

All of this is quite problematic, and though Blessing is an interesting addition, its blatantly apparent how this seriously upsets the already assymetric game arragement, especially if there are multiple Survivors with Boon/Blessing perks slotted vs the limied amount of Totems ingame (and which part "might" be Hexed by the solo Killers slots of perks).

  • DS is a deactivated by Cleansing/Blessing, see link below:

But now Im interested whether Thrill and Thana stack additively to a potential 70% slowdown on Cleansing/Blessing at maximum of those two perks.

Decisive Strike is a Teachable Perk unique to Laurie Strode . Blessed totems do still count for Thrill. You have to cleanse the totems to remove any stacks.

    What "stacks"?

If all Totems, blessed, hexed or dark count for Thrill, then the total number of Totems undestroyed by Survivors determines Thrills token count. Period.

Thana is unrelated, as it only affects speed of actions ON Totems, not the Totems effects.

If this is right we've all been bamboozled by taking the OP at face value.

    Our bad. I feel dirty.

    Yes.

But OPs "point" and "header" are at odds and a bit convoluted.

Part of the argument seems to be that "Thrill of the Hunt" changes should somehow redact Thana effect on blessing.

Or perhaps concern on whether they are multiplicative or additive, together.

The latter is an interesting question, and I dont know how they stack, but on the otherhand thats 2 Perks a Killer must slot to that effect and as the other is Totem based, is "countered" by blessing in the first place.

Thrill looks at Totems, and there too I dont know whether Blessed ones "count".

Technically, they should, as whether they are dark, hexed or blessed, its still a Totem.

Thana however is anyways unrelated, as its unrelated to amount, or nature of, Totems.

  • @Tower_XVI said:

After Thrill was adjusted to affect blessing speeds, should there be more adjustments made for the new gameplay concept? I don't imagine thana affecting blessing would be huge but the fact that they can do it multiple times per game means that the penalties could potentially add up.

"Each injured, dying, or hooked Survivor incurs a stack-able 4/4.5/5 % penalty to all Survivors' Repairing, Sabotaging, Blessing, and Cleansing Action speeds, up to a maximum of 16/18/20 %."

By my reading, Thana does affect Blessing:

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Thanatophobia

  • One of the primary concerns, is if Steam in its decision to ban/block/refuse NFT, will extend that to DBD or other games that utilize NFT.

This, because Steam cant control NFT of games/businesses outside of its services, and thus cant leverage profits off them.

This puts Steam in a bad position, as game providers on/using its services can sell NFT without Steam getting any share of that, whilst Steam "is" the service provider they operate through to clients on its platform.

  • Slugging is a core mechanic.

Many Killers and especially Survivors (and frankly perhaps some Devs also) dont "get" this.

The best way I can try to communicate how integrally and profoundly core it is:

Every single time youve been hooked (unless you were, rarely, grabbed), you were a slug, first.

If you get 3 hooked, you were slugged first, 3 different times.

For a Killer to get 3 separate hooks on 4 Survivors, thats 12 sluggings, first.

People arent getting how profound that is.

And thats not even remotely getting started of how this core mechanic is crucial to Killers as to how they can pressure Survivors to deal altruistically with slugs and diminish pressure on gens.

  • For example:

Im a HUGE "Hellraiser" fan. I own most of the movies (canon or not) in hard copies and some of the comics, but have seen/read all of them.

For 10yrs in the 2000s (Im born '81) I walked daily past a video rental store in Helsinki that had a nigh lifesize Pinhead model in the shop window, and when it went bust (cos VHS/DVD ended) I still regret to this day that I didnt have the foresight nor cash to buy it.

    Thus, related to DBD.

I bought Pinhead DLC (a sort of catharsis to the above), but instead of playing Pinhead since its launch (maybe 10 Trials :P ), Ive just been grinding BPs via other Killer/Survivor/Challenges etc into a Prestige 3 Bloody model which I finally completed (poignantly to this topic) yesterday. Now I gotta BP to perk him.

BUT. What about the Chatterer model and this notion of potential other Hellraiser models (and or content) as NFT related?

The Chatterer model I have not bought, not because I cant afford it, or wouldnt love to have it, but cos the price is too high. And I wont buy it because of that.

There is a "rational" price threshold that even a devout fan such as myself has to consider.

I was willing to buy Pinhead DLC and grind in DBD for BPs to Prestige 3 for the model skins (thus providing matches to the pool, either as Killer or Survivor), and which I will continue to grind to perk him and to play it, but even I wont pay the current cash price for Chatterer skin, and if NFT is involved in future Hellraiser content, that makes the rational quotient of my choice to purchase even less likely.

PS: There is a post of mine some years ago on these boards, where I specifically suggested Pinhead to be included into DBDs lineup.

Well, that is why I said a year ago.

I haven't had occasion to do this until recently.

The guy who made all those alt accounts prompted me to set everything to Friends Only, so he friended me and got around it.

I am glad to hear that is no longer the case.

    Please see:

    @Rhoska said:

    1) Disengage: Do not respond to them and distance yourself from whom act this way.

    2) Disconnect: Adjust available settings and disable connection access from these persons to you.

    3) Desensitize: Do not allow them to affect you emotionally and personally.

All of the above can be surprisingly difficult to remember to implement in that moment, as we are somewhat hardwired to react/respond intuitively, and forget that we dont have to, and have options not to.

    -------------

One thing thats helped me both not to be toxic myself as well not to lower myself to toxicity from others, is the "10 Breath" technique.

Close your eyes, perform ten slow relaxed breaths whilst thinking of your priorities and options.

You may be surprised how your conscience responds, how much easier it gets to see the situation clearly, gain perspective on it, reminder rise of your options, and ways out from an emotional/reactive trap that falsely "feels" compelling at the time, but actually isnt.

Another way to express this, is you re-gain control and power of yourself and the situation, from your baser nature and what they are trying to force you into.

    --------

Oddly enough, its similar to being chased as a Survivor by a Killer in DBD, which forces a sort of artificial crisis. Ingame ofc you dont have 10 breaths time to try to think clearly, but there also you make bad decisions and forget your available options if you let the Killer take control.

Likewise, as Killer, if you allow tea-bagging, clicking and other assorted bullying get into your head, they have taken control of the situation to your detriment, and you arent thinking clearly and performance suffers.

Seeing something like this can really hurt someone, and those people are so blinded by spite and rage they don't care what they're saying. It's the psychology of being behind screens that gives you more confidence in your words, I guess.

Still, that dude needs to be reported ASAP. I can't imagine how unstable they are if a mere game makes them explode like that.

    Also nice Palpatine pfp

    1) Sending "goodmail" has issues involved also, albeit its counterintuitive to understand why, as though in your view "intentions are good" and its content is nominally positive:

1a) That mail nonetheless is unsolicited. They didnt ask you for your feedback.

1b) You dont know what their situation/condition/perspective is, and they might be in fits of anger/frustration that they dont express over how the match went, to which your "goodmail" is just fuel thrown onto a fire.

1c) A predecent or trend of "goodmail" can lead to an expectation of such, which is onerous and burdensome on both parties. IE: That if you dont send or receive a "goodmail" from all, its negligence to be construed as dissaproval.

    2) You are presuming to judge negatively the person that expresses anger/frustration in the game or outside of it, without knowing what their life is like. This is a paradox, because though you on the one hand acknowledge that that behavior is probably psychologically caused by an unhappy life, you add insult to injury on it.

If you accept that a person behaves negatively because they have problems, then you (note: you, not staff) punishing them for it just makes their situation worse, and you are then actively part and complicit of that.

    3) Regarding the case above, and points above, reporting is valid when there is cause as them having violated the rules of the 3rd party platform of the terms/conditions all using it have agreed to, but:

3a) One should not oneself instigate an exchange that provokes or exacerbates further the situation.

3b) One should not abuse the report system, and rules of terms/conditions thus.

3c) IE: If there is something to report, do so, and its incumbent on staff (in their contract of employment) to deal with violations of contract by clients, but not YOU to do so, nor are you entitled to that.

    4) Technically, its the client themself that are the one that must make a complaint of violations against them, not bystanders that are not the target of it.

    5) If you yourself are provoking/antagonising another client to negative actions that would violate rules, arguably you yourself are also violating rules.

    6) TLDR: Report to staff if someone violated terms of service against you, but otherwise keep quiet and do not provoke on it, as its not yours to arbitrate or act upon. This also applies in the sense that if the violation is not against you yourself, but another, its the choice of that other whether to report it or not. As a client, you are in a contract with the service provider, not with other clients.

    7) You yourself admitted you used to behave toxically before. So you are not above this, and if you where granted that levity before and changed your behavior in time, you ought to be the first to recognize that if it worked for you then it ought work for others too.

Its ironic, but its often those that feel guilt for what they themselves have done in the past, but have changed since (but where unpunished), are the ones that most demand hard punishment for that in others, that they themselves never endured. Now THAT is psychological.

This is one of the reasons why I think BHVR needs to assign everyone a DBD ID for players to see in game. More often than not I see that players are getting messages like this. If BHVR assigns DBD IDs it would make it so people can't go to someone else's account/send messages and make it easier for reporting.

If you get streamers sending these messages I'm going to guess they are saying terrible things on stream too. SpooknJukes has started making videos calling out these players thanks to people sending him videos/chats of them being sore winners/losers. If their videos show the toxicity on stream that they're showing in messages send it over to him.

I would not encourage/recommend making this kind of behavior a streaming related "circus" or for it to be construed as "content".

There are various legal liabilities (for streamer (especially if earning off it), the streaming platform thus also earning, the game platform itself, and the persons each participant as to their rights), and many ethical issues involved with that.

All of this is in rather murky waters due to how relatively "new "all involved in this in terms of legality across many areas of law, and as an indirect extension/issue in that, also TOS/EULA and other service provider/client contracts are themselves rather murky in their expansiveness.

Live streaming of games in which there are other human players recorded/displayed without their consent is in and of itself on rather shaky legal ground, as are manifold related IP issues, not to mention profiting off them financially (and by whom).

Its best not to push the envelope on these issues too far, nor antagonize against this certain kind of levity in laws that are "allowed" via unspecifity.

IE: In laxer specificity, everyone has more room to arbitrate on their own circumstances. If that is "abused", and the law has to take notice, the results may be signficantly more restrictive in ways that will have far greater impact on everyone, than many might imagine.

  • We are well past the point where BHVR would be a sort of "crowd-funded" enterprise that it would be justified to buy whatever they sell as it being a way to support a start-up to succeed financially.

So now the player market determines whether what BHVR sells are worthwhile to them. If its not good for you, dont buy it.

And if you dont like how the company is operating, think about whether your $$$ are better spent on companies operation that you do like.

PS: I worry abit about a certain type of consumer that out of a kind of "completionism", "OCD" and to compensate perhaps for other areas of their life, feel compelled to buy everything whether they have use for it or not, but those occur across the board in many markets and is an issue with its own peculiar characteristics.

I was somewhat amused to watch a certain extremely prominent streamer of DBD the other night flat out say that they will use shards, not cash, to "buy" newer content in this situation (which they have also received from BHVR and earned masses of ingame), but thats understandble as they also run their stream as a profit enterprise, so its incumbent on them to have new content to show in their output.

  • 1) Disengage: Do not respond to them and distance yourself from whom act this way.

I understand perfectly well what a forum is, and what it's purpose is. What I don't understand is the point of your questions directed at me, specifically.

What question did you not understand, and how?

I only play solo q when I play Survivor, very rarely together with my wife.  I have never played DbD with Comm.

I play 50/50 and for my part I try to spare my opponent play styles that I personally do not enjoy.

And as a killer, slugfests just aren't fun for me. I'd rather hook in, collect my points, and go hunting for the next one. In my eyes - and I make it clear once again what I also said in the previous post: Play how you want, if it's within the rules - that's the way I want to play and enjoy the game.

You asked for opinions. That was mine.

And finally, a question: when you're out as a solo survivor, do you enjoy Slugfest?

Everyone should play how they want - but everyone should be able to respect other opinions on a topic.

    1) Glad to hear you also dont use voice comms to abuse the game system.

    2) Glad to hear also that you also split 50/50 between Killer and Survivor. Its the best way to play this game for many reasons, and to enjoy both "sides" of what it provides.

    3) As to slugging, hooking may earn you more BP in the short run, but slugging can win you the match when hooking wouldnt, and/or more BPs in the long run. And BPs arent necessarily the end-goal anyways.

    4) The "fun" factor for Survivors or Killers of slugging is arbitrary. As Survivor, only rarely have I been slugged for long (either Killer comes back to hook, or a Survivor picks me up), but as Killer, I have capitalized on it as a mechanic, and thats the whole point of this thread/discussion.

But flat out I will say, that running matches as Killer in which I specifically remind myself that I dont "have to" hook dying Survivors, have been some of my more memorable and interesting. The "hook" mechanic is an optional crutch, and it can be very satisfying to ignore it in part and just focus on knocking down everything that moves.

As a Survivor, paradoxically, I much prefer being slugged to being hooked. Each hook makes me static, forces teammates to dehook me and makes me closer to death, whereas when slugged I can atleast crawl around, pressure is less immediate for others to pick me up, and I dont get 1/3 closer to death by hook.

    5) I want to promote discussion on this core mechanic and what is involved in it. Im aware of Survivor concerns regarding it, but its integrally a Killer mechanic, and whether its "fun" or efficient is in the Killers purview.

I don't really understand where you're going with all these questions.

This forum exists as a communication interface between customers/players/clients amongst themselves, and to Devs, as moderated by a designated staff.

Its not rocket science, and all game forums since the internet has existed have been in the same format.

What part of that are you not understanding?

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2563078#Comment_2563078

I most certainly can, but I can't say the same for others and I've seen plenty of posts on here of people just resorting to insults because of a differing opinion.

    So?

This board has a moderation team that deals with posting that breaks the rules.

  • @Eve13 said:

@Rhoska Just play more survivor and then find out how much fun the games are that are played with your approach.

Then maybe you'll understand what some here meant by "it's not fun for the other side".

Don't get me wrong, play how you want if it's not against the rules, but you're taking away a lot of elements of the game that are fun for you and your opponents when you drive this "strategy".

I play Survivor/Killer 50/50.I swap when either makes me rage. Usually play about a week before switching.

Note: I NEVER SWF with voice comms.

You however, your entire modus stinks of Survivor bias.

You are still stuck on the fallacy that slugging is "not fun" for Survivor (whereas its in many senses preferable to being hooked, as you dont get hook stage and have somewhat of a chance even to manage crawl/hide till pickup, and you are COMPLETELY ignorimg that slugging can be fun for killer and is a core mechanism of Killers.

I'm not blaming the community for the choices the devs make; I'm simply pointing out this community cannot engage in civil discussions without resorting to insults.

    Why not?

    Cant you?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2562614#Comment_2562614

Nothing they can do about comms. Not a thing. Even if they lost their senses and wished to, how exactly could they?

Doesnt change that its a huge problem.

Since there is no way to disable voice comms used from outside of the game, the "advantages" that voice comms inflict on the game (on the Killer, on map awareness from shared info etc) need to be mitigated with "creative" and deliberate ingame balancing and design.

  • @Kaitsja said:

Because this community lacks the maturity for that.

    Explain.

How/why are you blaming community for the choices Devs make?

    @AGM said:

Would you rather them actually working to make the game better or just arguing over pointless bs all day?

If they are reading and responding to "goofy lolkek" threads, is that effective use of time rather that engaging in constructing feedback threads with the community?
