To check your biases a little bit and maybe look at things from a different perspective?
I gave it a shot and I was disappointed.
The responses made it far clearer what exactly I was dealing with.
Here are some highlights:
"All the lame anticamp and second chance crap led to this. Basekit BT is an invisible 5th perk for surv nerds. Anticamp is basically Deliverance without the broken.. 6tb perk"
"My biggest problem isn’t even second chance perks it’s survivors being able to heal in seemingly no time like i chase someone hit them lose them for a short period then their full health again"
"I have ptsd from YEARS of meta DS, DH, BT and Unbreakable when I was playing killer.."
A lot of these players do not understand the game. Some of that is not their fault, the game does not tell you a LOT of things and it is difficult to learn. We do not all have the luxury of time. However, I think these comments paint a picture of the general attitude of people who enjoy playing like this or think it is absolutely necessary.
(sidenote, I got into an argument with the original video poster and he deleted his comments with me????)

You really should watch the video, it isn't about being in a "position of power" there are far more factors at play here.
Why?
I highly doubt it will bring any new information to light.
It will simply be someone coping.
People are doing it because it works. Survivors are not used to having to play around slugging.
It obliterates Solo Q without any difficulty and can do well against most casual SWF's too. On top of that, it puts Killers in a position of power, which people love no matter the role.
All this will accomplish is getting slugging nerfed to the ground. On the bright side, BHVR will finally address a playstyle that is extremely uninteractive. On the bad side, they will kill it.

That's not even why people slug. Are you that naïve? That's what survivors have over the killers, power, and why the killers resort to slugging to win. You're telling me that killers have more incentive to hook than to slug? With rebuffed DS, OTR that gives a minute+ invulnerability plus power creep on Iron Will, and third health state DH?
It is endlessly amusing that you ignore the facts of the game. So far as we know, Killers are doing very well.
Do not equate your own personal struggles with the state of the game at large.
DS is fine. Have you considered NOT tunneling? I would prefer it if OTR simply applied Intangibility until a Conspicuous Action was performed, but if they are bothering you, they are not progressing the game.
Once again, unless you are trying to tunnel.
DH is a complete non-issue. It is a poor perk.
Iron Will is completely fine. Sounds already don't work half of the time, if you can only track by sound then you've probably not had a good time anyway.
I think you are getting your own personal struggles with the game confused with the state of the game at large. For example, even during 2018, when the game was truly Survivor-sided, I did not escape often. I had a difficult time looping Killers and was often upset at my performance.
That does not mean I thought the game was Killer-sided and that everything was stacked against me and that those nasty X-sided players were out to get me.

Slugging is not easy against coordinated teams. WGLF, MFT and Boon: Exponential the latter perk completely shits on the slug meta. Slugging is as hard if not harder to do than simply hooking imo. The reason i do it because it's less stressful because you don't have to be paranoid about picking a survivor up, getting flashlight saves, pallets saves, it's only about chase and less macro.
Exponential is such a bad perk that it is a non-issue.
MFT is pretty bad as well. Extremely situational.
WGLF is okay, I guess.

Except skull merchant right now is more like " I clicked a button, now you can stay at the loop for 2 minutes and then die or be a bozo and leave the loop and die" like I am sorry I understood with previous skull merchant but right now her beam is literally a worse vecna flight of the damned that has to hit you 4 times to even have an effect, its a pure skill issue if you are not wasting skull merchants time in a loop after she drops a drone.
That is slightly better, but still pretty bad.
Not really any skill expression for either side.
-
If it's easy and puts people in a position of power over others, people will abuse it.
This is no different than Boil Over, Flip Flop UB in RPD.
They do it simply because they can.

Can't say I've ever been fond of powers that are, "I clicked a button, leave the loop or die"

There aren't that many comparisons because not many killers really have extraneous stuff like Wesker does. I didn't want to be too forward with my position because I wanted to get a sense for other people's opinions on Wesker's overall design and how the individual parts of his kit fit into the whole, but I can definitely elaborate a little on that here.
To me, it's a question of asking what the parts of a kit do for the whole. In some cases for Wesker, it's obvious- for instance, his pseudo-instadown at max infection is meant to make the Virulent Bound more threatening than it already is, and as a direct consequence of that, push survivors towards engaging with the First Aid Spray mechanic.
But then you look at the other elements of the infection and the answer gets less clear. Take the Hindered- it does basically function the same way the pseudo-instadown does, but it can't really be allowed to be too strong or it breaks the balance of his power, leaving it in this sort of halfway state where it exists, and it's potent enough to be noticeable… but only barely, and his power's designed around it not being in play much. Why's it even there? I could absolutely see it being appropriate to replace this instead of remove it, but I'm not convinced it's core to Wesker's power level or identity and I'm pretty sure just outright removing it wouldn't actually harm him very much- which isn't ideal for a killer's power.
After that, the Killer Instinct, which I think is the most obviously "extra and arbitrary" part of his power. If we want survivors to engage with First Aid Sprays, why does Wesker gets notified when they do? The clearest comparison here is Nemesis, who has literally the exact same mechanic… except for him it makes sense, because he needs to keep the infection up for his power to be capable of doing damage, leaving him a little more like Plague where you're taking something away from him but giving him something else. For Wesker, you're hit by the brunt of Virulent Bound either way, so ridding yourself infection is just inviting him to hit you with Virulent Bound again. It's nice for him to have, sure, but how does it actually tie into a coherent gameplay loop?
My opinion is mostly that the core of Wesker's power is well designed, but he has more unnecessary flab surrounding it than other killers do. I don't think it's a huge problem, to be clear, but I do think it's there and it was obvious others didn't feel the same way from how I'd seen conversations about him go in the past.
The KI on cleanse is to encourage Wesker to split targets.
Giving soft information like that is an okay way to softly corral some people into not tunneling a single person. If you cleanse, you're probably healed and in a safe place.
-
I think there's a difference between a kit that has a lot going on and a kit that is bloated.
Bloat feels unintuitive.
A Killer can have a lot going on, a complex with a lot of moving parts; but if it blends together nicely, then it can work very well.
The inverse, however, is also true. A Killer with a simple power that has a lot of moving parts (SM post-nerf), that does NOT blend well, can feel bloated and unrefined.
I think Wesker's design is BHVR at their best. A Killer that has a lot going on, but who never really feels that way.
-
I ran Dead Rabbit and J. Myers once upon a time
I think my build was M&A, Dark Devotion, Enduring, Nemesis.
M&A keeps my TR nice and small prior to chase. I pop Tier III and my TR gets MASSIVE. Get a down with Dark Devotion, huge TR stays on slug, I get to be an Undetectable Insta-down Myers for 25-ish seconds.
This was in like, 2021, so who knows if it still works, but it was fun once.

So you and your friends don't play the game because of how bad it's become, but yet you're on these forums combatting anyone who states the real issue with this games balance. That's actually incredibly sad.
The real issue is that they've managed to take everything fun and enjoyable out of the game.
The chaos was fun.
I think it's too late now. The cat is out of the bag, so to speak, in regard to MMR and the game becoming more competitive.

A lot of killers in this game boil down to bad gameplay. Nemesis, Nurse, Trickster, Huntress, Knight, Artist, Houndmaster, Clown, Trapper, Dredge, Twins, Singularity and Xenomorph are all killers that can force you into lose-lose situations where you are forced to take a hit so that's not really an argument especially in modern DBD
Bad design is still bad design, no matter how many times it's repeated.

they're suppose to be like trapper traps. you set trap on a loop, when survivor drops the pallet, surprise, pallet breaks, freddy hits you. Now they're useless because nobody going go into any into the fake pallets. The only way you can use them is indoor maps like Hawkins where there are narrow hallways where you can auto-explode them like a bomb.
they remove the fake pallet graphic so that the mechanic is usable in normal maps.
Bold of you to tell the Devs what mechanics are supposed to be like.
That's bad gameplay. There was zero way to tell if a Dream Pallet was real or not. If it was real, awesome. If it wasn't, you're screwed and there's actually nothing you can do. That isn't a real gameplay interaction. There isn't any choice there.

People make alts for lots of reasons.
SWF is not fine as is, by evident of the entire state of the game lol What you meant to say is that you're fine abusing SWF, good for you :)
Although I pay attention, I'm afraid I haven't played in over six months.
Likewise, all of my friends refuse to touch the game due to how miserable it has become. Even if we win, it feels like a loss. It wasn't fun, it was stressful.
I am sad to see that you've resorted to strawman arguments, I was hoping you had a point.

Voice comms are not the balance it needs nor will will ever happen. BHVR can't even have an unmoderated chat, you think voice comms are going to be added for one of the most salty gaming communities? Not to mention anytime that is suggested, people seethe to express how they don't want it.
Are you all the same person on alts? It's the same type of weird selective word of "punishing" players when it's not punishing solely to be punishing, it's called balance. This game has gone through nonstop balance changes. The logic of balance changes being punishing when only to defend your need for SWF to stay in the game as is, is a huge issue and keep seeing some accounts constantly using the same fallacy word of "punishing".
I would not make an alt when I have 20K posts lol
SWF is fine as is. Maybe a little weaker than I'd like, but it's fine.

Omg the point just flew over your head, you almost got it!
"The game is currently balanced around SWF" …and are you wondering why SoloQ is unplayable, why SoloQ is filled with DC's and "going next" ….and why mostly all Killers tunnel/camp/slug? Mmmk lol
Also the game is only balanced around SWF, it isn't fairly balanced around SWF and only taking into account a small portion of the Surv playerbase to balance an entire game around, is exactly why the game is unfun for everyone not in a SWF.
Again, it's not "punishing people for daring to commit the sin of playing with their friends" to make balance changes, that is such a fallacy that it doesn't even deserve a rebuttal, but I still gave one.
The balance would be to add a voice chat, make it worthwhile to play Solo Q, make the average match more enjoyable etc etc
Punishing people for queuing together is only going to ensure that SWF is just as miserable as Solo Q, which nobody wants.

If they had SWF in mind then the gap between SWF and SoloQ would not be so extreme for almost a decade and it wouldn't be one of the only PVP games, literally the only asymm game ever made, without voice comms lol That doesn't seem like a Dev team that had SWF in mind, that seems like a Dev team that backpeddled and needed to give SWF players some sort of god complex, which we can see on full display in this thread.
All good to play with your friends, but the game should be balanced for that, to suggest otherwise is dishonest.
They had a choice between putting KYF in at launch or SWF and I believe it was up to a community vote, they chose KYF. SWF was added shortly after.
It was always intended. They likely did not have the resources to accommodate a voice system at the very beginning of the games lifespan.
The game is already balanced around SWF's. Even in the best-case scenario, they are escaping just 48% of the time. Nerfing Survivors more is going to dumpster Solo Q, which seems to be where most players sit.
Punishing people for daring to commit the sin of playing with their friends is also pretty stupid.

This is the most fanciful load of horsedroppings I have read in the past 6 hours.
This is a well known idea?
Players will always optimize the fun out of the game. They will always find easier and quicker ways to do things.
It is on the developers to figure out how to curtail that desire.

Nobody cares about made up stats and they sure don't reflect the actual game or the actual issues with the game. Everyone in soloQ is Dcing or going next and Killers are all slugging/camping/tunneling as maps/perks/loops get nerfed.
Killer tunnel because it's kept in the game as a way to deal with SWF which ruins the game for everyone else. Also to add, if SWF and SoloQ were in separate queues, do you think SWF would ever get a match? If not, why?
Those stats are released by BHVR. They are official. 4-man High MMR Swf's escape less than 50% of the time.
Killers tunnel because it's easy. The average Solo Q team cannot prevent a tunnel out and a 3v1 is massively in the Killers favor. The average SWF fares little better, but they have a chance, at least.
No, they would not. Most Killers will choose the route of least resistance, we saw that with Prestiges. P100? Dodge. P80? Dodge. P2? Sign me up!
Players will always choose the path they think is the easiest.
-
@Roco45 said:
Most people aren't ready for an actual discussion about it and BHVR sure aren't ready to actually do something about it. First step is to stop blaming Killers for it and look beyond that at what could possibly be causing them to camp/tunnel/slug. Better yet, go play Killer as much as you play Surv and go see what could possibly lead to Killers doing all of that.
Second step is to acknowledge that there are three classes of play in this game; Killer, SWF, and SoloQ. It's not Killer vs Surv, it's Killer vs SWF with SoloQ getting caught in the crossfire, leading to all the issue you described above.
SWF need to be nerfed and then everything else needs to be rebalanced around that, it would solve almost every single issue this game has.
SWF at High MMR escape 48% of the time.
It is Killer v SWF v Solo
Killers tunnel because it is the easiest way to win the most often.

Im NOT reading allat. But from the first few sentences i could tell you also dk how the game works.
As i have said to Pulsar and basically everyone else in this discussion agrees w/ me, you cannot defend gens at all. In that exact match, yes i had no gen perks, but i shouldn't need gen perks to stop gens from being done in less than 5 minutes. I can understand losing kills but getting low stages is ridiculous.
Whatever you do, whoever you chase, you WILL be wasting time. Theres no machanics in place, or any required secondary objectives gens from flying, thus deadlock imo should at least be basekit until they revisit the idea of missing parts and gas for gens.
And like I said to you, and basically everyone else in this discussion agreed with me, was that your idea was ridiculous.
You have no stall perks; you have no power. You want gens to simply not be done so that you can continue your power fantasy. Games are supposed to be fun for both sides, just because you handicap yourself does not mean the game is Survivor-sided.
You are also not as good as you think. I imagine I could do better, and I've not played in 9 months.

Saying they know nothing is a diabolical take.
-
Not sure why you would be.
There's no indication that they'll actually innovate. Next two Killers will probably be remixes and blends of old powers. We'll have a new busted perk in one chapter, there will be a "crisis" of some kind and business will continue as usual.
It's been the same since the turn of the decade, not sure why it would change now.

Nic Cage has less horror under his belt than the Star Wars universe has horrific depictions of cruelty and violence in it and yet we have Nic Cage because BHVR can twist and turn the rules whenever they want to. And they will continue to do that if they know it will bring people to the game. They've already lined up other franchises that have crossed lines with certain beliefs on why it wouldn't get added so Star Wars will be no different. That's a good idea by the way. Taylor Swift is pretty scary. She can be a skin for Trickster. I'd be runnin!
And as usual, we can both have our own opinions on what is a good idea and what isn't. Outright saying someone's opinion is a bad one is a big red flag ya know? Vecna btw is way above Tiamat or the Tarrasque. Even Asmodeus failed in some places where Vecna succeeded. While it of course is still up for debate who is really the strongest being in DND, Vecna was considered biggest of the big baddies in that universe until his defeat. I play DND 5e weekly so these conversations are not unbeknownst to me.Every Nicolas Cage Horror Movie, Ranked Worst To Best (Including Longlegs)

Yeah, no. Opinions can be wrong. Saying that opinions can't ever be wrong is the real red flag here.

Splitting hairs as usual. Vecna is the most powerful character in DND however you want to slice it. Accept the idea early and avoid being upset later similar to another franchise that I won't name. I'm sure you know the one I mean though. Star Wars has plenty of horror related stuff in it so I'm not sure what you mean.
Vecna is NOT the most powerful character in DND what are you smoking lmao. He can be up there, but only after he ascends and he STILL isn't the most powerful
No, I'll not accept ideas that don't make sense for the game. "Oh, we should just accept that Taylor Swift will collab with DBD since she's popular."
That's a dumb idea.
Star Wars has some horror related things, Starweirds, for one. Curiously, Vader isn't one of them.

I’m also a huge Star Wars fan from the clone wars and the original trilogy.
That Star Wars and other stuff isn’t exactly horror, is no longer an argument against it. Dbd already got so much stuff, that isn’t horror.
But I agree Vader would probably not fit into the game. You slice somebody with a lightsaber. Oh they are still alive. - Well this doesn’t matter for Disney anymore, so this isn’t exactly an argument against it (at least for them). And a looping Vader would be kinda weird.
By what metric does it no longer matter?
Except for some skin collabs, every character in the game comes from a horror-inspired or horror project.
The one's that are the most borderline, Lara and Trickster, caused a MASSIVE amount of discussion around their inclusion.

Pretty sure this is Vecna as a Lich and not a god.
You are the one looking at it wrong. DBD isn't Fortnite, we aren't going to get Godzilla or Among Us as collabs. There shouldn't be any Lady Gaga or Balenciaga crossovers.

At the end of the day BHVR goes to Disney and asks for something else they own like Predator for instance. Disney says if you want anything else from us you have to do a Star Wars Chapter at some point okay? BHVR then says what the hell and agrees. Sounds pretty simple.
Why would Disney hand over one of their biggest IP's as a bargaining chip? That's just insane.
Disney is extremely possessive of Star Wars and charges a hell of a lot of money for the license. Even though Battlefront II was a success (despite it's ######### launch), they didn't make CLOSE to enough money to justify another game.

I think my second longest one was about three and a half hours. Claudette on top of a haybale on old Abbatoir, iirc. Might've been, idk, 2019?
My longest was over 12 hours iirc. I know that one was in 2018 because Legion wasn't out yet. Can't remember the specific time, because I went to bed after a couple hours of the stand-off, also bugged inside an object, stuck without a way out.
Shortest was probably in a similar time period. I remember a game lasting two seconds because the only person who loaded in DC'd instantly.

That doesn’t matter anymore, we already have so much non horror stuff. He would fit perfectly into the game and be a lot scarier than other killers we have. As child I actually found him scary.
I am probably the biggest Star Wars fan around. It matters to me and to others. Vader is a tragic character that isn't inspired by or rooted in horror. DBD and Star Wars do not mix. DBD has already been diluted, but at the very least, all of the characters are horror-inspired or have some elements of horror mixed in.
If you actually wanted to bring in Star Wars (which I doubt you could nor do I think you should), you'd look at trying for starweirds.

Your comments are literally telling the truth and yet here we see a vast majority of commenters are in complete denial. I think it's high time for these survivor mains to play a killer game once in a while.
How can you tell what people main lol

kill rate is not win rate
I forgot the exact metric but you can win like 3 times as killer then get a draw like 7 times in a row and it'd be a 60% kill rate
dont quote me on the stats as i forgot the but its basically this
Pretty sure someone took NightLight stats and did the math.
KR was almost identical to WR. They were extremely close.

Survivors get nasty perks from being hooked, and you generally waste about like 70-100 seconds each game picking up and carrying survivors to hooks
Gen defence and regression is the worst it's even been and its only going to get worse
BHVR has confirmed that if enough survivors complain about a killer they'll just gut that killer So people arn't too keen to try and learn new killers anymore
And in general slugging is way more time effective for a killer nowadays and it prolongs the game allowing for more chases
The average game time with hook perks at Top MMR is around 6–8 mins usually and the killer might be around 5-6 hooks and ending with 1-2 kills
Slugging games in my experience end up around 10-15 mins long with way more chases It's not a gurranted killer win but nothing is But in general it's just more fun
High MMR games??? Those show Killers with a 61% KR or, at worst, a 51% KR. Winning either way.
It saddens me, genuinely, to see just how badly the gen kick meta ruined Killer players. It is actually depressing to see people wholeheartedly believe that gen defence is the worst its ever been.
This whole notion of slugging being better is built off of the idea that most people ARE NOT in a SWF. All you are doing is punching down on Solo and Duo queue players.
I question how any of these newer Killer players would have handled the game when it was actually Survivor-sided.

If only these stats and more were available IN-GAME.
Might help people understand things more and give older players something to work at.
