...which is absolutely brilliant! You get punished for your altruism.
-
And I main my right hand.
-
I think you underestimate the power of an extra hit. What's the average hits a Killer lands in a trial? Would be interesting to see such stats.
4x MoM could result in a dead Survivor. (4 hits = injured and 3x downed)
4x MoM and 4x BT could result in 2 dead Survivors.
4 x MoM, 4x BT, 4x DS could result in 3 dead Survivors
4x MoM, 4x BT, 4x DS and 4x Ded Hard could result in 4 dead Survivors
In the meantime the Killer ends up with nothing at all. Effectively zero progression even though they did the work that could result in 4 kills if they had no perks. That's how strong those perks are.
One MoM per trial is no big deal but the main fact most players seem to forget (or purposely ignore):
Survivors that tend to use MoM also like to use DS, DH, BT, Adrenaline ect. The reason why they use those perks IS to get as many 2nd chances as possible. So IF you see a MoM in a SWF, chances are very high that you're going to see the whole collection of 2nd chance perks. Not just once. Not just twice. Up to 4 times for a single trial.
So yes, to you MoM might not be that powerful - that's why I clearly said in the beginning of my post, look at it from a different perspective. The Killers perspective, for example.
-
On a serious note now;
Pig is very weak and her dash is effectively useless in a loop against experienced Survivors. Oh, you go prone with an attempt to mindgame the pallet? Well guess what... I will just run away and force you to either waste the dash or stand up again, both those things will give me enough time to get to the next loop and repeat the process.
-
It's not hard to understand it's power.
It's straight forward an additional hit. It's better than an instaheal because you don't have to stand still and use an item, it will trigger automatically when you get hit.
So tell me, what exactly makes it less powerful than I think it is?
-
Super cool idea!
They also have to make it count as full sacrificse for Killers (3 hooks) otherwise those DCs actually make it impossible to pip in high rank.
-
I know right! It's SUPER easy to simply put RBT on all Survivors ones the Exit Gates are open and the EGC activates! I used to AFK all game and only start to play once gates were open and I still managed to 4k almost constantly! SUPER easy with Pig! Glad they nerfed her!
As I suggested already, next nerf Nurse and Billy please! SUPER easy with them aswell.
-
Oh noOo! Please tell me, what gave it away?
I always thought I would be a good Survivor main :-( damn
-
Time to look at MoM from a different perspective - the Killers.
There was the expected obsession DS that could be drippled if you played smart (chase the survivor until they're close to a hook and only then down them).
There were the unexpected wiggle DS which could've been avoided aswell by being aware of your hooks while downing a Survivor.
That's 3 DS I almost always managed to avoid because of smart and well-planned playstyles. One DS that I sometimes had to eat due to smart Survivors not running close to hooks.
With MoM I am pretty much forced to eat all the ones that exist. I can't avoid them, they're random and the Killer naturally activates them by just playing the game, assuming they're performing well and hit them often. You can't really counter them either.
Even from a Survivors point of view MoM is a lot stronger. Not in all situations, but overall this perk saves you from getting hooked a lot more often than old DS did, guaranteed.
-
Pig was already incredibly powerful, easily S-Tier with Nurse (maybe even better than Nurse). It was about time that they nerf such a strong Killer, Survivors had NO CHANCE whatsoever to escape against her.
The devs were aware of that FACT and therefore decided to nerf her - the right decision!
Next step: Nerf Nurse, Billy, Spirit, Huntress and Hag because those Killers are also incredibly powerful and Survivors have no chance against them!

If it's an actual infinite, you won't be able to catch them regardless. Infinites are, well, infinite.
If it's just a really strong loop, there's a couple things you could do:
- Try bamboozle. If it's a strong window, blocking it off takes it right out of the equation.
- Make sure you are running it the right way. Remember that survivors need a pretty big run-up to be able to fast vault a window. Most strong loops will have something in front of the window on one side to prevent that. If you change directions and force them to run the loop the other way, they'll be forced to do a much slower vault, allowing you to catch up much faster.
- Consider just breaking the chase for now. If you're spending a lot of time on one guy while everyone else works on generators, you're going to have a bad time. It's not a huge deal if you have one or two people hooked or downed, but you'll want to reconsider if everyone else is safe. Often times it's better to go chase and down an easier target for now and then deal with the one that's causing you problems later when you've got pressure on the others.
- Bambooze is bugged
- Can work for some loops, does nothing for others
- Break the chase and switch targets only to find out that the next survivor sprint bursts to that same infinite and hoooray, you're in the same situation but 3 gens later.
In other words; If a SWF wants to abuse infinites, they will do so and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it besides spamming Nurse 24/7.
-
It's a clever marketing strategy, I'll give them that. Scummy but effective.

It isnt. But you would not care for arguments, eh?
That irony, lol!
-
There is a very simple way to avoid that situation: Don't get caught in/near the basement. "Problem" solved.
The basement is a one-way. If you mess up down there, you're #########, exactly like it should be. Don't go down there if you can't live with the consequences.
-
What @Coriander said.
Additionally, it's also kinda frustrating to get trolled by a tiny female that you could tear apart with ease. The contrast is much bigger, which makes it look fun for the Survivor but more annoying for the Killers.
-
Killer: Monitor & Abuse
Survivor: Dance With Me
-
I'm curious; How do you know that?
Step 1: Go to Twitch.tv
Step 2: Browse to Dead By Daylight
Step 3: Pick any random Survivor that's playing in a SWF
Step 4: Come back here and keep telling that they're just "playing with their friends"
If we use the typical argumentation of the devs this should've been nerfed long ago because it "ruins the fun for the players". It's just a fact. Play Trapper against a SWF and let me know how much fun you had.
-
It's good that the last Survivor now has to work for their escape. The hatch was too much in favour of Survivors but it will take some time until Survivors adapt to their new situation.
You better start to look out for the hatch before the 3rd Survivor dies if you want to secure your escape, it's still not that hard. If only 0-2 gens are done the Killer deserved the 4k imo.
-
Nah I pussy out... They probably gonna buff it next, you never know.
I heard there's a Nurse buff incoming aswell.
-
They also like to confuse "Facecamping" with "being present on the map" π
-
I see where you're coming from now. You have to understand that paragraphs exist for a reason. Read again your post, then read my post and try to understand which paragraph could refer to which of your statements, it will help you understand.
Your argument that "red ranks mean nothing" is invalid because it's simply not true, as you just admitted. It means people at least have experience and knowledge but you're right, maybe I should've said that instead of "red ranks". To me, that connection is obvious but I'm S-Tier soooo.... Forgive me.
However, you didn't bring up a singe argument as to why MLGA can't be considered cheating although I made it very clear why it technically falls under that category, that's why "next time bring arguments".
I know my posts can be difficult to read, especially under such circumstances but I will try to be a bit clearer in future so you don't get unneccesarily confused :-)
-
@twistedmonkey Thanks for that, next time I will know better.
That doesn't change the fact that it didn't exist when Dead By Daylight fully released, which is precisely what I said ;-)
-
Wooooohoo I got some support! Nice π
-
Maybe the "Remember Me" nerf was the long awaited Freddy rework π
-
Where did I say your argument is invalid? I always said it's non-existent.
It's a meaningless ranking system as in, it doesn't put the best players in the best rank and the worst players in the worst rank.
It puts players that know how to play in the highest rank and that's it. It's meaningless as a ranking system because there is no real skill distribution, it only seperates the noobs from the experienced players but rank 1 can range from mediocre to high skill.
No noob will make it to rank 1 that's why it's still "something". It requires experience and knowledge to get there. If you never reached rank 1, you obviously lack those two things.
Was that clear enough even for an F-Tier?
-
They also do that against Freddy and Leatherface. I agree with @Orion and hope that all those DCs get banned. Maybe it will finally happen once dedicated servers arrive.
-
You're absolute F-Tier human being, you still failed to provide any arguments and once again you failed to understand the meaning of what you read.
Add me on steam, let's play some matches for science:
-
I say that because it takes a considerable amount of time to reach red ranks, which automatically will put you against strong SWFs sooner or later. In red ranks there are also no noob survivors, naturally they will never make it to that rank. Your argument would've been valid if we were still with the same easy ranking system but that's not the case anymore. It's still meaningless but at least it requires a lot more time now.
Also, the fact that you failed to bring up any argument at all and simply, blatantly stated that my opinion is comical puts you in F-Tier.
Please come again, but next time bring some arguments with you.
(As someone that has spend a lot of time in this game I expect my fellow debaters to have a similar experience in this game. You wouldn't go and discuss sex practises with a virgin either, or would you? You get the point.)
-
Another user that belongs to F-Tier.
-
Did you really think they're working on a Freddy rework? π
How many Killers did they implement in the meantime without even touching Frederick... Says enough.
-
I didn't tell you anything, I showed you a meme. What you interpret is totally up to you. I don't take players seriously that never played Killer in red ranks, they have no idea how well-coordinated SWFs play there. It's not about toxicity, everyone can yield a flashlight and click around, it's about the efficiency they push through the match.
3 people on gens, one keeps the Killer busy. 1 player gets hooked, 1 goes for unhook, 2 players on gens. 1 player finds the hex totem, everyone knows where it is. Telling me that SWF doesn't give unfair advantages puts you on the same level as a flat-earth believer. It has nothing to do with how competent the Survivors are. Fact is that they can be bad and perform better than they should because of voice communication.
It's a bit like saying "a good 2 blink Nurse will win anyway, doesn't matter if you give her 5 blinks so there's no reason to nerf 5 blink Nurse". Yea but what about the bad Nurses that need 5 blinks to win? They shouldn't win because obviously they suck but oh well...
-
I imagine the endgame chat:
OMG HIT THROUGH THE WINDOW WHAT THE ######### IS THIS #########????? FIX THE ######### HIBOXES I WAS 2 METERS AWAY FROM THE WINDOW WHEN I GOT HIT.
-
-
They don't need to ban people for using voice communication, don't get me wrong good people from the forums. People should be able to play with their friends and communicate with them.
...but for ######### sake they should finally aknowledge that voice communication ruins the balance of the game. It's a matter of fact that the majority of the Survivors playerbase uses voice communication - and we all know that voice communication gives unfair advantages to why the ######### are they not balancing the game around such? Implement ingame voice communication, at that point I don't even care as long as they balance around it.
-
I rather not grow up if that makes me delusional. Ghosting and Stream Sniping are also forms of cheating, they're technically exactly the same as using voice communications in a game where you're not supposed to have voice communication. You're ruining your own fun if you do that.
Cheating has many faces. Scripts and macros, aimbots, wallhacks, maphacks, farmbots, lagswitches, tools to get access to informations you're not supposed to get. Even MLGA can be considered cheating because it allows you to find out who the Killer is (or what type of Killer it is) before you even enter the match. That's cheating, simple.
Now I understand that people using voice communication can't be stopped from doing so, neither can they be punished for doing so. That doesn't change the fact that it's some sort of cheating. Did you ever play Blindman's Buff as a kid? Ever played it while having someone by your side that keeps telling you where to go? Or left a slight opening so you could see a little bit? That's cheating. You got access to informations you're not supposed to have.
Now this game first game out without Survive With Friend, let's not forget that. Mathieu Cote also clearly stated that they will not implement ingame voice communication because it would completly break the game. That's literally what he said.
Maybe this game isn't for me anymore but guess what? I adapted. The result is Bubba the Security Guard. And surprise, I can have fun again. I don't care if I'm unfair to my opponents, I had to deal with unfair playstyles for 2.5 years and no one gave a ######### about it :-)
-
Wanna bet? Like, actually bet? I'm 100% certain they will not revert those changes, not anytime soon.
-
When people talk about chainsaw flick now they are talking about that increased turning angle you get in the first second of the chainsaw sprint. This allows you to make a 90Β° turn which sometimes allows you to get players in a loop. That's the flick these days.
-
I have no problem with SWFs, I have a problem with people that refuse to admit that it gives unintended, unfair advantages. At least be honest enough to aknowledge the imbalance it creates, that's all I'm asking for.
...and in the meantime I just facecamp them. And if people have a problem with campers they just need to git gud, simple.
-
Yes, we have PERKS for that. That's exactly the point. Are you going to use those perks instead or will you continue using voice communication to get those perks for free while you can still use 4 other perks?
Why is it so hard to understand? People that claim (and truly believe) that Voice Communication doesn't provide an unintended, unfair advantage are just dumb. Like, seriously stupid. Actually they're like F-tier when it comes to intelligence.
-
If it's just there to prevent Survivors from holding the game hostage (which would be totally fine) why did they kill the Pig and nerfed Remember Me? Those changes would never happen it if it was all about "keeping Survivors from holding the game hostage".
-
It's very similar to Ghosting in shooters.
I don't know why people look at it as such a normality. You're effectively telling the whole team what you see, what you do, what's happening, where it's happening and any relevant information about the Killer, their perks, their abilities ect. I'm seriously bored when I play in SWF, there is no tension at all, no atmosphere left. EW1 Myers? He gets one hit and that's it, everyone knows what's going on. Insidious hiding somewhere? We will never fall for it although getting caught off guard by an Insidious camper is very scary. The element of surprise is gone when you play with voice communication, the game feels like a scripted plot you're going through.
No surprise that the only enjoyment SWFs can get is from bullying Killers, as they made all other aspects of the game boring.
-
I totally forgot Insidious!
-
What was it about?
-
Wow, that's such a crazy mindgame, I would never have thought of that myself! Standing still while Phase Walking, that's so crazy haha!
Thanks for sharing!
-
No, that's not the same.
SWF is not cheating but (technically) using voice communication softwares is. The rules literally say "Using 3rd party softwares to gain unfair ingame advantages is a bannable offense" now explain to me how Discord/Skype/TS3 doesn't fall into this category? Moris are ingame mechanics but voice communication is NOT a feature.
- You WILL tell your friend who the Killer is
- You WILL tell your friends where that Hex totem is
- You WILL tell your friends where the traps are
- You WILL tell what perks the Killer is using
- not to mention all the coordination it allows for...
Important informations are spread across the whole team which would not be possible without voice communication, that's why it doesn't exist in the game. It's unfair for Killers. And by definition, using a 3rd party software to gain unfair advantages IS a bannable offense and therefore it CAN BE considered "cheating".
SWF =//= Cheating
Using voice communication = Cheating
(and idk why this ######### new formatting system keeps making random stuff bold)
-
Yea, it's crazy.
As "Bubba the Security Guard" the rates of disconnects are at ~44% after 83 Matches. That's 146/332 Survivors disconnected.
The fun part? They don't disconnect to not waste their time and move on, they wait in the chat to insult me afterwards.... LOL.
-
The thread literally ended with "meme" and you still fail to classify it as bait?
