  • I just prestiged Quentin when something caught my eye. Granted it's not a ghost flashlight, but it's Halloween related all the same.

I hope that provides a more definitive answer in regards to the Bloodweb.

Correct. By the way, it means you cannot get injured at all. I tried getting that with No Mither (no blood pools) and it failed.

Wonder if we're ever gonna get a Behaviour themed Dead by Daylight chapter. Maybe they'd make Mathieu the killer and he'd have all defense perks. No clue who the survivor would be though.

but first they need to make a ghost face killer and his ability can be he can impersonate survivors then back stab them kind of like the spy from tf2

I just realized, all of the TF2 mercenaries would be overpowered as killers in DBD, just by movement speed alone.

  • You hear about that Ochido guy? Rumor has it he was acting real creepy-like towards his underage female fans. Stuff like that, that's real horror.

  • How about that Leatherface gang?
  • If they increased the award amount to 6 cosmetic pieces than I would not complain. 1 hole skin set is cool but what pissed me off was that they made it seem like you had the potential to get all the skin sets. This event is better than previous events but they hyped it up and then shot it down with just a few words. Hopefully they increase the amount of skins we can get or at least learn from this event for the future.
The developers didn't do that the leak and community hype did that.
  • How about that world-wide day of poverty? Pretty Noble goal of the United Nations, right?

Yeah when I was watching the dev livestream I was hugely dissapointed by what can be achieved through the event. I thought the devs were gonna announce like specific challenges for each killer which if completed you would receive the blight cosmetics, but no they announced just generic objectives which only give you 3 cosmetic pieces. Lately, I have been feeling that the devs have been getting greedier and greedier. When I heard Kate finally got a new costume I rushed to go buy it at the store then I was also dissapointed to see that the entire costume cost $10 which makes no sense to me because characters and chapters cost less than that and its a pain in the ass how slow it is to get the shards that you need smh. When the devs announced a while ago the promise to make a whole year of content, I didn't know that the promise for content came with a HUGE price (literally)

Can't you buy that outfit with Iridescent Shards?
  • So how about that candy corn stuff? Love it? Loathe it?
  • ",How about that airplane food?"
  • What are the odds, of there being a massive nuclear war on Earth where the only two survivors are a man named Adam and a woman named Eve?
  • I wonder why the devs haven't added different colored Huntress masks in the shop. You know, a green rabbit mask, a red rabbit mask, etc. Just seems odd.

its not just about a video game its all LGBTQ+ people in general that arent accepted for being who they are and by adding LGBTQ+ people to videogames it would be another step to normalizing LGBTQ+ which is one very small step by adding one to this game

WHAT? JUST WHAT? literally, people been telling you it's not important because this is a video game! a HORROR VIDEO GAME! Being Gay or Lesbian or Transgender is openly free right now in 2018 ACCEPTABLE and been ACCEPTABLE for a long time! but who cares over a VIDEO GAME!

its not fully acceptaed if you would of refered to my whole post then you would of saw that in places like Florida people fire others for being LGBTQ+ and that although we are tollerated we arent acceptated since their are still people who beat up LGBTQ+ in public at nightime in alleys or other places we arent accepted and we dont have every right of a strait person. and yes this is a videogame and most other videogames dont contain LGBTQ+ people. in Overwatch the character tracer is gay but you dont see them announcing that in the game except in a few sprays. it just that i would like to relate to a gay character and just because this is a videogame does not mean it cant be added.

You see now here's the problem. I want to tolerate and accept LGBTQ people. My personal perspective on this whole thing is "I don't care who they are or who they're doing it with, just as long as it isn't me." However, when you almost militantly march forward forcing your ideas on everyone and injecting them into every single medium you can get your hands on my tolerance for the whole group drops. If Dead by Daylight were a dating sim or if it remotely mentioned sex at all then your argument would belong in this forum. That's the thing though, there is almost zero mention of sex or sexuality in the entire game. The only times you see sex or sexuality mentioned are "killer x is a boy or survivor x is a girl", that and the Clown's VHS Porn add-on. So unless you want to add LGBTQ information in the subscript of the above add-on or have whether or not a character is trans be mentioned in their lore there is zero reason why we need to be having this discussion. That's why you're seeing such strong opposition from @MichaelAMyers and so many others. This game doesn't care about the sexuality of anyone at all and you're trying to drag a small company into picking a stance on an issue that is so polarizing that there are dramatic ramifications of whatever choice they make. BHVR makes video games that's their role. The killers kill survivors that's their role. Survivors evade the killer that's their role. There's no reason to throw sexuality into this equation because it doesn't belong. Say you walk into a convenience store and you pick up a few items to buy and take them to the counter to pay. If upon doing so the clerk says I'm (Choose one: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, "Genderqueer?") that is seen as strange as there's no need for that information to be shared. Killers kill because survivors are meat worms. Survivors run because killers are merciless killing machines. There's no sex, just death or escape, that's it. If you are so incredibly desperate to sexualize Dead by Daylight I recommend you relocate to R34 as they're more open to that sort of thing.

(I understand that I have in a very minor sense assumed character sexuality in an earlier post about "#CAKE". However, that just a silly shipping post not a definitive demand for that pairing to be made canon.)

  • @TheLegendDyl4n1 I'm all for supporting LGBTQ people for who they are, there is just a time and a place for it. During the time in history at which Dead by Daylight occurs (the 1950s) there was little to no open homosexuality. Knowing this I cannot in good faith recommend that the developers and designers focus time and effort on a character that has little business being there. Dead by Daylight has two priorities:

    • meeting the horror genre trends
      and

    • meeting the asymmetrical genre trends

To suggest that the developers and designers should change their objectives and focus all of their efforts on two LGBTQ characters is delusional, to say the least.

It is the duty of the developers to produce a product for a market. Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game. While I have no issues with a LGBTQ chapter coming out, the focus shouldn't be on supporting the LGBTQ movement as that's not what I and over tens of thousands other customers bought Dead by Daylight for. We bought Dead by Daylight for an asymmetrical horror game. That day that the focus of the developers shifts from horror and asymmetrical gameplay is the day that a very large group of players will become very angry.

I'm not against LGBTQ characters being released, there just needs to be a reason for them to be here that is based on the main game itself. We do not need LGBTQ characters in Dead by Daylight just to help LGBTQ people accept themselves, that is not Dead by Daylight's purpose and it would be an insult to Dead by Daylight and the LGBTQ acceptance movement.

I feel like what a lot of people are missing is that it's mostly a matter of disappointed expectations. This is the first time they've tried to monetize a community event, and they gave no indication that they were doing so until a dev stream 24 hours before the launch of the event. People have grown to expect a couple of token cosmetics in exchange for a fun grind exclusively with events, and there was no reason to believe this would be any different. Events are usually free. Amazing skins like that are usually cells-only, and most people are fine with that. It's the fact that they combined the two and it just feels like a Halloween skinset with extra steps. It's nice that we can get one for free, but I think it's understandable that people are upset, not because they don't get free stuff but because they built up an expectation based on past events and were then disappointed.

@Peasant The florist analogy is quite helpful. If you want to understand the opposing viewpoint, you could think of it this way: If this florist had come to your house with a bunch of roses they were selling, and you said "wow those are amazing" and they were so flattered that they gave you the whole bunch without you having to pay. They came to your door several times after that, each time with a bunch of roses that they give you for free. They say that it's because they like you so much, and really appreciate how much you love their flowers. Then one day, they appear on your doorstep with a dozen bunches of roses. You think, "oh wow, are they really going to give me all these just because they like me so much? That's amazing and incredibly generous, they must have put a lot of work into arranging those flowers." and the florist says, "look, you can have one bunch for free like usual. But I want you to pay for the rest." Some people are going to say "I understand, thank you for the bunch of roses." They might even say "I will happily pay for more." But I hope you can understand why some might be a little disappointed, even if they understand the florist's point of view, because every time they've met the florist in the past, they've been given free flowers and told that the florist wanted to give them free flowers because they appreciated them so much. They might feel like they weren't appreciated as much as they thought, or that the florist was really only priming them the whole time so that they'd be willing to buy flowers when the time came, and the flowers weren't really out of appreciation after all but a marketing strategy instead.

I know it's not a perfect analogy, but I'm trying to illustrate a different viewpoint so that there can be more understanding of other perspectives, even if we don't agree with them.

I'm just glad someone else tried their hand at showing the other side's view merely because I'm too tired and fed up with their nonsense to take their view seriously.

I understand the disappointment of learning that you cannot get all of the skins through grinding. I wasn't too thrilled to learn that initially but at least we get something. Besides, everyone keeps clamoring for new features and ideas, like dedicated servers, but then when it's time to fund these projects and pay the developers and designers for their work everyone falls silent.

The main reason I lack empathy for the other side is namely due to the realization that I'm talking to children. Dead by Daylight is an 18+ horror game. If everyone here is an adult and everyone works we should ideally be able to set some money aside from our paychecks and then buy the cosmetic we like at a later date. However, what I see is a see of repeated grammar mistakes and entitled whining. I'm trying to listen and see reason but all I'm seeing is people shouting and whining at the devs because the community overhyped themselves. It's the figurative equivalent of stabbing yourself in the foot and then whining that the people who sold you the knife are at fault for your horrible choice and bad judgment.

Of course it would have been nice to get more free skins. But no one works for free. Devs did an amazing job with those skins.

If people can't afford them, then they still can unlock a complete set for free.

People don't NEED those skins to play. They are purely luxury.

What's really great is that majority of the skins are killer skins which can't even really be seen outside of the menu and the first 5 seconds of a trial. People are getting genuinely upset from their own hype over cosmetics that most of them won't even see.

That's why I'm on the edge on which I'll unlock.
    Might be even survivor.

Anyone obsessed with how old people on forums are usually isn't very old or mature themselves. A mature person would accept that anyone else posting on this forum an opinion is entitled to that opinion and not attempt to force their own label on that person with the remarkable effort that you have. If your Florist argument were to be sound it needs some changes...... BHVR isn't a stranger giving us something free. We are invested customers who have spent money and loyalty on their product. You aren't nearly as clever as you seem to think. I personally don't mind spending money on cosmetics, they are optional. I do think 3/7 available for earning would be a bit more reasonable personally.

I like to think like Voltaire. "I may not agree with what you're saying, but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it." While I did suggest that there is a problem with maturity likely coming from youth, my primary concern was attempting to communicate to other players that not everything is free. BHVR is above all a business and it is in the interest of the business to make a profit. I understand that after paying the base sum of twenty dollars (or whatever else you paid) to acquire Dead by Daylight you expect to not have to pay any more money, however, BHVR is a growing company and they need funding. So while I can understand how some consumers are upset I will ultimately side with the company providing the service as we keep consistently demanding new features of them while many of us fail to offer additional funding to support these goals. For example, many people want dedicated servers. To the best of my knowledge getting dedicated servers would be rather expensive and yet very few people seem to want to contribute to this goal financially. I understand that this event is different than past events. I participated in those events! At the same time, however, I cannot justify the large amount of hate directed at BHVR for changing up their system. I sincerely apologize if I have upset you in some way. I just care deeply about the future of Dead by Daylight and BHVR which in turn caused to negatively respond to the wave of "mass criticism" that I instinctively saw as mass hate.

  • "Then gens are right next to hooks." Yeah, but don't you actually fear the monster in this horror game and run away from the monster and by extension, that hook?
"doubled repair and heal times" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjUACaUOxWE
Your precious repair times haven't been touched and healing was increased by a whopping 4 seconds, 8 for Self-Care. If that little change is hurting you, then you weren't healing in the right spot anyway. "Git gud"
"They're so close you can't wiggle free" They actually made hooks spawn a minimum distance apart so if hooks are sabotaged it has more significance. Try breaking hooks or 99% them then snap them in a chase.
"The Killers are always going to be stronger" it's an asymmetrical game, the team of one is supposed to be OP, that way the team of 4 HAS to use teamwork to win. That's the way the genre was made.

  • @Fibijean said:
@Peasant I feel you, but I also feel like giving people the option to unlock things for free with a huge grind while still making them available for purchase would be a better marketing strategy, given that people are so upset. I think that more people would want to pay for the cosmetics/support the devs if they didn't feel like they'd been led astray in the first place. It may or may not be an accurate feeling, but the fact is it's impacting players' willingness to support the game financially. And if it's better for marketing AND player satisfaction, then it's a win-win.

(By the way, there are a lot of valid reasons why people over 18 might not have the financial means to buy cosmetics. I can give examples if you like, but the point is just because people are poor doesn't mean they're literal children, even if they act like it :P )

I honestly believe I know why the developers capped the amount of serum gained, and it was so that everyone could get cosmetics. Think about how much time there is in the event right now, if people could unlock everything then either everyone would play killer to have no serum loss or they'd bum-rush the visceral cankers as survivors. This would ultimately culminate in anger at killers for denying farm matches and it would cause killer queue times to spike.

I understand that not everyone who is poor is a child as there are a great number of variables in life that can really make life hell. I only mentioned children because as you stated there was a lot of whining as well as . . .
    this:

I get that Minecraft wasn't always a kid's game, however, it's a kid's game now and seeing the portrayal of anything else in a Minecraft style is a dead giveaway that children are afoot. I don't know the sheer number of people that shouldn't be playing this game amongst us, so I'm forced to guess based on a number of unreliable variables. The most reliable of these variables is basic communication so when a user lacks good grammar, spelling, or uses very simple words all the time I make the assumption of youth.

  • You have several factors that contribute to the toxicity.
1.) You're on PS4, so is "He Who Shall Not be Named" went to that platform after being hardware banned form PC so you're stuck with him and his harem of twelve-year-olds.
    - Additionally, many players say that PS4 has the largest toxic player base out of the whole game so there's that too.
2.) Recently many entitled people are whining that they couldn't get all of the 21 unique cosmetics from Hallowed Grounds for free through grinding. This will create unrest on both sides for a while, further boosting toxicity on all platforms.

So by combining PS4's naturally toxic community with the presence of "You Know Who" and the general unrest from the overhyped Hallowed Grounds Event and you get dangerous levels of toxicity. May the Entity have mercy on your soul for the coming days.

  • @pemberley I don't think the skins will be PC only. I believe that they will just be released at a later date. If the Blight cosmetics are now, and Appalachian Kate was "SPECULATED" to release in December, then I'd imagine that the Victorians are coming in November. This is all SPECULATION mind you so don't take this as fact.

  • Since we're in the LORE subforum I'll be frank with everyone. If there were going to be a homosexual character added to Dead by Daylight it would likely be a killer. The reason for this is that a majority of the cast and aesthetic themes come from the 1950's. During this specific time in history, folks weren't too keen on the idea of same-sex couples (to the best of my VERY limited knowledge on this subject). So if a homosexual character were to appear in Dead by Daylight they would likely be a killer who was furious after losing their partner. I don't see why they would have a homosexual survivor as the developers never bother to disclose that information in survivor character lore.

Above all though, there is no current need for homosexual characters in video games. Games are meant to entertain an audience. Dead by Daylight is a horror game above everything else. So unless you want to exploit homophobia there is no direct need for homosexual representation in a horror game.

They even allow you to chose them you don’t have restrictions in which you get

At least they didn’t introduce loot boxes or something

Technically we have the mystery crates and mystery presents during the Hallowed Bells event, however, both of those are both with Bloodpoints in the Bloodweb so we're all good.

would you rather they don’t release events at all and just give us paid cosmetics and only that?

I have seen people say that they would have preferred that there is no event at all or that everyone gets the same three cosmetics and there are no other cosmetics available for purchase. Yes, people really are that stupid, somehow.

This whole thing makes the community look pathetic as hell.

Not so much pathetic as just petty in my eyes.

Playing killer will effectively get you the event done quicker so probably killer

    What about the queue time?
