Just don't get salty. Let it go.
People teabagging and/or clicky clicking want your attention, don't give it to them.
People bodyblocking are free hits, if the person escapes go slugging since there are injured survivors nearby.
You have to make sure you don't lunge in order to get the grab. You can grab healthy survivors trying to hook save, off gens or totems.
Ds has a nerf going live in a few days that should help with that.

No, just no.... Read again. I'll give you the example. There was a bubba who didn't have lightborne, and had nothing to defend against flashlight. And when a killer has lightborne there is a sound effect with no visual cue from the beam that you've blinded him.
So I was in a chase, threw a pallet, stunned him and he stood still without moving his head up while I had my flashlight directly in his eyes. There was no sound effect, visual cue, nothing. He also had no sound effect when revving the chainsaw. Oops, I'm an idiot. Didn't you know bubba has an add on that mutes his chainsaw?????
Is it possible your flashlight aim was bad?
Because you say that you get a sound cue when you blind a killer with LightBorn, I'd assume a hack would either invisibly activate LightBorn or would modify the variables that effect blindness length and set them to 0. Either of these cases should have made the sound cue.
Note: I don't know how things are written in the game, and I don't know how the people who write the cheats do their thing, I'm just a dude with a Computer Science degree making assumptions on how things might work.

A week where new players can try out maxed base kit on killers they don't own. That way they can see if they like them and want to grow into them. New survivors could also get to know them and have a sense what they are up against. Increased BP or small amount of Shards for players going against them. Idea being to help increase the player base. Good idea? Bad?
They used to have something like that for the Licensed Killers, it was an iri offering that let you try out that killer with no perks or add-ons. They eventually discontinued those offerings, for reasons I don't know.
-
A while back I decided that I wanted to main Demo, I tried. but eventually I grew tired of getting slaughtered because I had a power that doesn't really come in handy, and Demo has garbage add-ons.
The portals make noise when they're near you, you scream when you enter one, and the portals can be sealed, plus when you exit you're still a really tall, stompy boy, so the undetectable is pointless.
Shred is a non-basic attack that isn't hard to juke, its cooldown after breaking a pallet isn't an improvement over a default pallet break, doesn't inflict any sort of additional status effects on a hit survivor, and doesn't insta-down.

But it’s fair for them to constantly update their team where I’m at 24/7 in the match? But it’s a no no if I do it? Rules for me but not for thee? I don’t watch their screen when they stream. I just listen to what they are saying about me and such. Just out of curiousity.
The devs intentionally added SWF to the game, they probably assumed that people would use external communication to talk with their friends that they're playing with. Because why play with friends if you can't communicate with them?
Devs did not add a mechanism for the killer to listen into the survivors communications.
You asked if stream sniping is wrong, it is. You did not ask if SWF is a balanced mechanic, it is not. These, however, are separate topics of discussion.
-
No, its not fair. As a killer main I argue: you shouldn't have access to the information that could be gained by just listening to the swf talk to each other.
Is it bannable? Maybe, I don't know.
-
The solution to slugging is already in the game, and its not a perk. Its teamwork, when someone gets slugged a healthy person should go get agro, then another should pick up the slug while the first person runs the killer.
Its a 4v1, use the advantage that survivors can be in 4 different places at a time.
-
Honestly, just give it some time. If the Trickster performs poorly they'll eventually give him some buffs.
I remember people saying that Deathslinger was just a worse Huntress, during his PTB.
People also thought Blight might be the weakest killer in his PTB, exception was with the old Compound 22 add-on.

Those are totally valid suggestions for those scenarios. Those sorts of valid suggestions are not the issue.
The issue is people saying "WELL RUN THIS PERK" or "BRING THIS ITEM" when someone has a problem with a Killer. It's like they're telling them to predict the future and make builds against specific Killers. Cuz ya, that's a totally reasonable expectation.
You could just make your survivor build a bunch of perks that hard counter things you don't like. You could just always run Iron Will and Calm Spirit just in case of spirits/doctors/infectious...
You can't predict the killer/perks you'll play against, but you can make your build against the ones you hate more.

"I like to hook/down one person and wait for the others to come help so I can get them too instead of idk playing the game how it's meant by looking for the survivors? Maybe?....nah I'll be lazy and sit here"
Camping isn't against the rules, bodyblocking as a reportable offense is trapping a survivor in a corner in a way where the game cannot come to an end.
If a killer is camping, do generators or try to bait them away from the hook and let somebody else get the unhook.
-
I mean, those are options. The other option is to play reactively to the perks in play.
Don't get hit against spirit. Do ANYTHING to prevent a hit, or you could just default run Iron Will. Iron Will is actually a good perk for all killers, it helps with mind games.
Infectious fright means don't group up, and actively avoid being in the killers Terror Radius. Or you can run calm spirit by default. Calm Spirit is a bit under-rated, but I wouldn't call it a great perk.
Hag traps you can just crouch walk over, or you could set them off when the Hag is otherwise distracted.
-
A basekit form of ruin would make Pop Goes the Weasel, Dragon's Grip, Overcharge and Oppression impossible to use, since you can't kick a regressing generator.
-
I'd imagine a non-specific Tuesday.

Yeah but Stridor is amazing for spirit and spirit only. She's only supposed to track you by sound and scratch marks but if you bring a perk designed to stop you from making noise and a Spirit brings Stridor it's literally only to stop Iron Will and that's not cool and takes the challenge out of it.
I run Stridor on Blight. Stridor is good on most killers, since it negates iron will and allows you to track people based off sounds. No more injured people hiding in bushes or lockers will escape my detection!

Ignore end game chat/messgages. You might miss some nice comments, but you'll definitely dodge the toxic ones.
Play how you want. Have fun, its not your job to ensure the other side has fun, but don't go out of your way to be rude.
-
Play however you want, and don't read end game chat. Do what you find fun, because why play a game if you don't have fun?
-
The ranking system will change when the MMR system is live.
-
No, this would ruin the game. Having to get 9 hook states before the first survivor can die is pretty unrealistic.

I'd buff solo-survivor and Killer. Maybe giving free Kindred/Bond might not be the worst idea if in exchange you buff killers as well. If SWFs don't have additional information to share it would negate part of their advantage and make the game a little more balanced.

In order for it to be broken "again" wouldn't it have to be fixed first?
Seriously though, the best theory I have seen is that there are so few killers at red ranks playing that the system mixes up the survivor ranks to try and make it "fair". Obviously it doesn't do a great job.
As a red ranked killer, I frequently get lobbies that are high-purple to Low greens. Some of my lobbies make sense, others are really bad..
-
Personal opinion:
FaceCamping is when you remain within lunging distance to the hook.
Proxy Camping is staying within terror radius/Line of Sight of the hook. If Make Your Choice or Devour won't proc, you're proxy camping
-
All of the saves require specific timing, if you do them to early, the save fails

You sound like one of angry pugs suck ups, over there they have the exact same speech and attitude.
Hate to tell you, but that is some pretty solid advise. Not every chase is worth seeing through, you have to pick and choose. Sometimes you take a hit on them and leave, other times you take and break a pallet, and sometimes you hunt them down.
Also you were playing Oni, just Demon Strike the pallets, pallets should be the least of your worries.

This might sound too op but what if there was a perk that gave you the endurance status effect when you get picked up from the dying state, I hate it when I get up and get knocked down. Maybe as a bonus effect you can get up like Unbreakable but only when a Hex Totem is up or something.
You're onto something.. we could call it Spirit Defense or something like that...
-
Fake Pallet Freddy is the best Freddy, except some maps are terrible for the fake pallets... CORN!
-
I'm pretty sure Mclean has explained this before on his stream.
It starts with realm selection, where it picks a realm (where sometimes some realms have a higher probabality than others)
Then it picks a map from that realm.

I'm not trying to set rules for killer players. I'm merely stating that killers who use unfair tactics are toxic.
Hate to tell you, but there is no such thing as unfair tactics. All of these tactics have counterplay.
Slugging has perks: UB, Soul Guard, WGLF, Desperate Measures. Or another survivor could just walk over and heal the slug.
Tunneling : DS or you could take hits for the tunneled survivor, or body block the killer to cause them to lose their target. You could all meet up with the tunneled one, and sprint off in 4 different directions, leaving 4 sets of scratchmarks.
Camping: DS+Deliverence, BT. And the most given piece of advise, "Split up and do gens" or work as a team to rescue the person on hook
-
Slugging is a means of compounding pressure. You might be dodging a DS, you might just want more survivors to be bust doing something other than generators. (Before the salty comments about DS, I've literally had survivors run at me because they had DS and felt safe)
Camping can be done to punish survivors for pressuring gens over prioritizing a save. If a survivor is 10 seconds from hitting struggle, it might be worth the time to force them to lose a health state.
Tunneling is needed when you only have 1 person dead on hook and you absolutely need a survivor out of the game.
Slugging is the most needed. Against good survivors, if you don't slug at all, you probably won't win. But as all things it should be done in moderation.
-
Spirit has some problems, the biggest of which is that her power is relatively sound dependant. She can only see scratch marks and grass moving (unless she uses an iri add-on to see bloodtrails too), everything else is sound.
If you want to get rid of Stridor Spirit, either Iron Will needs to go, or spirit needs to get something else for tracking. Because having a killer that can be thwarted by standing still or walking outside of grass is a dumb mechanic.
Spirit does have counterplay, its the same as the Oni's, take as much time as you can before getting injured and heal as soon as you can.
-
A 50% survival rate would be balanced as an average, but a 2k/2e isn't realistic in how the game actually works.
Killers start the trial at their weakest, all survivors are full health, 3 hooks from death and all resources are still available. As the trial progresses, pallets are destroyed, items are used, perks are used up and hopefully some of the survivors are closer to death than others.
Once a survivor dies, the other survivors need to pick up the slack. As this goes on, survivors get weaker as they run out of health states, have more work to do, and less resources to use to do it.
So goes the snowball, as survivors fall, so do the chances that anyone escapes (excluding hatch escapes).
The way to balance the game is improving matchmaking, re-balancing maps that are one sided, and probably look at the most common perks and add-ons and figure out why those are the most common and give some nerfs and buffs to improve the variety of gameplay styles.
-
NOED doesn't need a change,
1) it is useless throughout the majority of the trial.
2) it does nothing if endgame never happens, so killing the survivors and hatch plays prevent it
3) cleansing all dull totems prevents it from activating
4) it can be destroyed after it activates by locating the totem and cleansing it
You don't need to do all the bones, you just need to be able to find the lit one after the last gen pops.
I use Detectives Hunch and try to memorize totem locations, I destroy 2 or 3 during the trial, and check the remaining totems if NOED activates.
-
Instadowns are fine. All of them come with some skill or requirement that acts as a counter balance.
NOED uses a perk slot all game, to (maybe) activate in the endgame, if you get to the endgame, and if a dull totem still stands
Iri Head + Infantry belt, paying 13k bloodpoints for instadowns.
Pinky Finger, you gotta hit a survivor directly with the bottle, then hit them while they're in the gas
-
NOED is just an inverse of Adrenaline.
Adrenaline gives a health state if it can, NOED takes a health state if it can.
Both give the same speed boost.
The difference is one has a time limit and the other can be prevented/removed by destroying the totem(s).
Get Detectives Hunch, destroy totems when you can.
-
I don't respect other killers that don't attempt the Great Hatch Hunt. Honestly hunting for the hatch is some of the most relaxing killer gameplay, you can kinda chill as you wander, and worst case scenario you still have a 3k.
If you hooked the 3rd survivor instead of slugging, you'd have more time to find the hatch before it opened.
-
Why un-install, when you could just not play for a week or two? Is it worth having to re-download it later?

easily anyone who says spirit is balanced just doesn't want their ez downs to be a history.
every killer has some kind of counterplay without perks. spirit is an absolute coinflip killer because she said so. camping a pallet doesn't do ######### and it has ######### odds too. imagine a killer that just stands there to fake their power and gets a grab on pallet because survivor had a wrong read. it's a bad design and should be changed.
her noise during phrase bug was actually really valid and it was easier to tell what she's about to do. she can hear you? you can hear her too and answer to the situation more properly, instead of going "oh ######### i don't know what to do.. drop pallet? stand still? walk away for scratch mark juke? keep looping? vault?" and get downed anyway.
The secret to beating a spirit is to do something they don't expect. They expect pallet camping, and the vault grab works because they expect you to freak out and vault.
You need to do something else, instead of vaulting, turn and run, double back on your tracks, get near completed gens to mask your sounds.
Go play killer, be the spirit, know your enemy.

That would be a mess. Obsession has more involved than JUST DS, so lets not base the entire thing around 1 perk, lol. I dont want a game with 4 DSes, so all of a sudden if I run STBFL I'll NEVER get tokens. This idea would end up affecting way too much stuff. PWYF and remember me would get a massive buff from being able to gain stacks like crazy, as well as things like Myer's obsession stalking addon.
Also Rancor, free moris for everyone.
-
I'd run BT as the 4th perk to ensure that a hook rescue is safe to make Deliverence activate.
My issue with this build is that it is useless if you're not slugged, camped or tunneled, and the majority of the perks are a 1 shot deal.
-
If you open up the task manager and force quit the game, the game would see that as a crash. Because to the game something unexpected happened and it terminated incorrectly.
You could do the same by pulling the plug on your machine or by killing the internet. Anything that ends the game without actually hitting the quit button looks like an error.
The game only starts handing out bans after several DC's to deal with crashes...
-
Matchmaking is problematic at the best of times. But considering there is a bug that effects pips on the survivor side, at the moment, matchmaking is extra spicy. So the good survivors might be in lower ranks than normal since reset happened today and the unbroken emblem is bugged.
-
1) Depends on your rank, when you're new its killer sided, red ranks is survivor sided at the moment.
2) Currently a rank 5 killer (reset happened today) and a Rank 9 survivor (reset and loss of pips from unbroken glitch)
3) between 400 and 500 hours
4) Nope, none of my killers or survivors have all the perks
5) I play killer more now, since my friends have abandoned this game
-
@MadLordJack said:
Most of this doesn't really make sense, but the gist of why the game is so toxic and how the Devs are involved comes down to the fact that they thought it would be thematic.
I'm not kidding, that is how they justify things like hardcore tunneling, facecamping, t-bagging, etc. They want us to be frustrated.
Not exactly, they have said that they don't want to take away player autonomy. You have a choice if you want to play toxic or not. You are blaming the devs for choices made by the players, the devs just don't intervene.
As for the mechanics of the game, they exist to make it actually a game.
There are 7 gens because if a killer could just camp 1 or 2 gens to win, the game would be pointless.
Windows and pallets exist to give the chases some sort of excitement, some way that they prey can escape or hinder the hunter.
The hatch was added to stop the last survivor from just hiding until the killer DC's from boredom. Because the last survivor was never going to do the gens.
I don't think the devs prioritize one side over the other, things that unbalance the game have been added, others have been removed. I look forward to the DS nerf, I also look forward to changes to Freddy.
-
If you are tunneled out of the game and 5 gens are left, either your teammates are doing nothing or your chases are really short.
As a killer I expect to lose a gen or two before I finish my first chase.
-
Honestly doesn't sound useful for a survivor perk. You complete a gen, and kick your friends off their gens. All to save 5 seconds on opening the gate.
How does this interact with multiple copies of this perk appearing in a team?
Also this opens up the potential for a blood warden play for the killer, since they know exactly when the doors will open after the last gen.
-
Also when facing Bubba, never group up with teammates. Everyone split up as much as possible.
-
You must have reported them in-game, then you can submit a support ticket here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Also you probably should edit out the screenshot, naming and shaming is against forum rules.
-
They could also just run sprint burst, exhaustion goes away when you get hooked, so sprint burst away!
Also don't unhook near the killer if you can avoid it, take a protection hit if you can, or lure the killer away so your teammates can get a safe unhook. Don't over think it.
