Thats the neat part.
You arent. You could still tunnel perfectly well, you just had a penalty, which made you think twice.
Unlike live, where if you want to win, you tunnel every time. Talk about linear.
The idea of punishing killers for tunnelling in 1st iteration is just completely stupid. Killer's job is to kill, and purposefully ignoring survivors who run directly at you, either intentional and misplay, is totally beyond stupid.
Instead of punishing tunneling, buffing killers who don't tunnel is the way to go.

the problem is i can’t get killers to commit to chasing me, i loop them for more than 5 seconds they leave and find someone they can. Then they tunnel that person out and its now 3 v 1 at 5 gens. Survivors at that point are at a guaranteed loss in most situations.
The fact that tunnelling 1 survivor can lead to an almost assured win is the problem.
Killers on the other hand can easily come back at 1 or zero gens. Survivors can’t snowball like killers can and its disingenuous to equate doing gens to tunneling. If you played both sides you would know that.
"Killers can easily comeback at 1/0 gens left."
Like… what?? Unless the killer dedicates to endgame build, or Survivors made a huge mistake of getting 4-man slugged, this almost never happen if all 4 survivors are alive at that point.
Trust me, as someone who never intentionally tunnel/slug/camp, unless survivors mess up really hard, it's impossible for killer to comeback at 1/0 gens.

Scrapping everything is the right move.
This iteration was bad. It didn't punish tunnel, but made not tunneling more difficult.
First iteration was better, and could have worked with some relatively simple adjustments, like adding an additional hook state or two to trigger the anti tunnel penalty. Big punishment, yes, but the rewards could have been adjusted appropriately.
Scrapping it was the correct call.
Man, aside from balance, first iteration makes the game completely linear and boring for both sides.
Everyone's forced to play in exactly the same way in every single match, it takes away all the macro-management from both parties. Is that what you really want?
-
Here's my experience.
I don't really have a main, because I play whoever I like at the moment, and I don't camp/tunnel/slug, so the update won't really change how I play.
However, I'm starting to avoid playing weaker killers lately, because you can feel the powerless ever since the pallet density update. Even with strong killers like Dracula I have to bring Brutal Strength to make it more bearable.
Currently I'm trying to main Spirit, because she's fun and can at least mindgame at pallets. Maybe I'll try to P100 her in near future (Now sitting at P23)

game will literally not change you can still kill all survivors if your good enough
Pallet update is already getting reverted it was announced already
If game doesn't change why should they implement these changes? You can still get 4 escapes right now if you're good enough.
Pallet density is not getting reverted next patch. It'll be changes in next one after, but we're still not sure it's getting reverted or buffed.
-
Worry not. Next patch Survivors are going to be even more braindead to play thanks to the gazillion buffs to Anti-Slug/Tunnel/Camp.
Seriously, now is one of the worst time to come back playing this game for Killers.
-
Here's the hope of having more rewards for Killers spreading hooks…😞
-
This is like saying Wesker needs to be 110% and lose token when breaking pallet.
Blight's chase power is FAR from the strongest in the game to justify the 110%, because it's not usable in so many loops, just like Wesker's Dash.
Unless you're a Blight main who put hundreds or thousands of hours, then it's probably fine. But those are extremely rare, and I doubt you'll see one in months.
For average players, he's not really performing much better than other Killers, so I don't see any problem with him, being one of the hardest killer to learn with high skill ceiling.
-
Those who care about winning won't main mid-tier killers like Springtrap, just like you don't see Ghostface main being rude, simply because they're so used to losing, and most of the time being the receiving end of rudeness.
-
Despite her strength, I just find her not fun to play as. I got her on day 1, but I've played less than 10 matches until today.
Being reliant on infection means you can't switch target mid-chase, which not only makes her vulnerable against bodyblocks, but also Survivors can just play very aggressively if they're not infected, and you're in head form.
It's funny to see survivors run towards killer, and you can't do anything about it unless you switch to human form, which is very uncomfortable.
-
@Rokku_Rorru said:
The issue rn isn't that the killer experience isn't in demand anyways, as much as the points are valid it's that the survivor role needs to be more enticing lol
So killers aren't players, and their experience doesn't matter. Is that what you're thinking?
-
@Pulsar said:
Ah yes, us vs them.
Still, you can't deny what it says are mostly correct.
Once the update goes live, it's gonna be miserable against this type of Survivors, because it's insanely hard to punish them unless you're playing S-tier killers.

I used to be able to win most matches with a fun. stealth build with Wesker.
Not anymore. The "QoL" pallet update + the number of bugs he currently has had me also shift to this exact build I use with Dracula.
With The Dark Lord I used to run Endgame builds using the Alucard Shield add-on (another fun build) and try to win before the gens got completed to be able to say I won with just one add-on, but this also is not possible anymore.LMAO I also play Wesker a lot, he's my most played killer, and Dracula's second.
Stealth is still my main go-to for Wesker though, because it's really fun to catch people off guard haha. But I agree, pallet update makes him much harder to win.
Now I just don't care about winning anymore, and go for the fun chases instead. No use getting all riled up when the game actively work against your favor when you're trying to win, especially when they're adding those busted unhook protection in next version.

So even if you spread hooks it's still 9 for a kill? I wonder what sort of strategies would emerge with that. I like the idea of everything coming down to the end, I prefer those razor's edge matches, but I also feel that would make it damn hard to win as killer. I wonder how the balance of team member's skills would work out too. Early ratting would be basically pointless and I'm 100% for that.
They either have to buff the crap out of majority of the Killers, or they'll have to make gens a lot longer. Neither looks fun for Survivors as you see, but you get rid of camp/tunnel, arguably the most hated things by survivors.

That's why this is the exact build I always use with Dracula. Sometimes I replace Ruin with Devour.
Let me focus on the fun part of playing DbD: the chases.I also like to play Dracula, but I hate bringing gen defense perks because it's boring.
So I usually bring information perks to help me finding survivors to chase. But ever since they added so many pallets, now I'm bringing Brutal Strength, and maybe dissolution LOL

Full hex builds with Thrill are the most underrated killer builds currently. People think Thrill and Penti aren't that good anymore after the nerfs when in reality they only got slaps on the wrist.
Not exactly.
Ruin + Undying + Thrill + Penti, if Survivors don't cleanse totem, you're basically playing with a single perk.
Trust me, good survivors can power through Ruin without much trouble, unless you're playing S-tier killer who can keep pushing people away from gens. Otherwise, traditional gen defense with Grim, DMS, PS, will give you more value.

So one dies at 9 hooks and everyone is now on death hook is how this would work? Would it only apply when someone is consecutively hooked or would everyone otherwise get the hook states they personally acquired if the hooks are spread?
Yeah, basically all survivors share 12 hook states.
Regardless who you chase/camp/tunnel, you can only kill someone when you got 8 hooks.
So no more unfun strategy. It'll also reveal just how difficult it is to get 12 hooks with current gen speed, especially for M1 killers.
PS: I've been suggesting this 5-6 years ago.

How would this work? Couldn't you just keeping hooking the same weak link over and over?
Honestly if killer camps around the hook just to keep targeting that weak link, he's gonna lose because other 3 can freely repair gens without worrying about him die on first hook. Not to mention you can go for the last minute save to prolong the process even more.
And don't forget killer needs to down that weak link 9 times to sacrifice him, which is a lot more than 3 hooks right now.

The Problem with that idea is if someone decides to troll or go next he will just run permanent to the killer.
Than everyone loses cause of one person.
If someone trolls you're bound to lose anyway. Can you win a 3v1 with the system right now?
-
Make all survivors share all 12 hook states.
No tunnelling/camping anymore.

I noticed way more toxicity since pallet density update even in normal queue and not like I am surprised. Back in the days, the stronger survivors were, more toxic they were to killer for no reason. Because, why not mocking your opponent, when you are almost invincible, right?
And now I find myself in this situation pretty often: entity knows why I picked low/mid tier killer, and every one emotes me / teabaging me from the start, standing near 6 connected pallets and tiles.
And it's normal queue, what should you except from 2v8, which is survivor sided to some ludicrous degree?
Not like I didn't see "gg ez" from killers, there are a lot of sore winners too, but I think it's almost the rule: the stronger survivors are – more toxic they are.I started playing when Spirit's just introduced, and I got mocked in most of my matches back in the day… It was so painful that I actually had PTSD of it and stopped playing ANY PVP games for 3-4 years because of it.
Although things are much better now, but it's slowly getting back to the past with so many buffs to survivors.

At the very least, if someone is dead at 5 gens up there should be a large bonus to repair speeds. Everyone says tunneling is gross at 5 gens yet no one seems to want anything meaningful done about it.
So should protection not working when it's on 1-2 gens left, but I don't think you'll agree with me.
-
Definitely more bugs.
-
I play in SEA region, and my ping is constantly around 100ms, but I'm very sure my ping can be 50-60ms, because it works in some matches.
DBD ways of managing servers are just bad that they'll send you to other servers for no reason. So before they fix it, abandon shouldn't be a thing.
-
-
Does anyone actually believe this is a serious post?
-
What survivors get:
- Basekit Babysitter
- Basekit OTR
- Basekit Kindred (Anti-camp shows killer's around)
- Basekit Wicked
- Basekit unbreakable
What killers get:
- 5% speed boost that gets deactivated when you use power.
Yeah, if anyone says this update isn't one-sided...
Anyway I'll probably stop playing this game when this goes through. I don't think there's any way I can keep up with survivors' efficiency when they don't have to dedicate perk slots to antitunnel perks anymore..

BHVR was willing to nuke the entire game 4 years ago in favor of Killer; they're willing to make the endgame one-sided in favor of Killer; they keep Survivor perks in a weak state in favor of Killer; they even delete systems designed to help Survivor in favor of Killer.
At this point, I feel like so much has been tried to please Killer and it hasn't worked. Even when the game is handed to them, it's not enough. There is literally nothing you can do to break the victim complex prevalent with so many Killer mains. So I don't think it's the worst idea ever to focus on Survivor for a while. In my opinion.
Have you ever played the game before that patch? It was EXTREMELY MISERABLE for killers that NO ONE wants to play killer. Killer queues were always instant, whereas survivors have to wait 5-10 minutes for one game.

I still play this game here and there, but the more matches I play as Killer, the more I want to switch playing Survivor instead.
I hate playing sweaty with S tier Killers using meta builds, but if I don't, I get taunted and mocked for playing M1 Killers, especially since they added so many pallets to most maps. It's extremely discouraging.
-
LMAO Do you even know what toxic and tunnelling means?
Except for Game 2 and Game 5, all I've seen is Killer's doing very poorly in the first chase, and decided to DC because the game's basically over. It's extremely hard to comeback with M1 Killers like Myers and Ghostface.
And WHAT THE HELL is Game 8?? If DC is toxic for you, then YOU are the one who's toxic, immediately DC without even trying, leaving your teammates to die.
It's funny when you win 8 out of 10 games, and still complaining it on the forum.

Same here. I actively have to aim proper angles to hit them consitently and even then it often misses. Maybe latency is a factor or something, just thinking out loud.
Edit: or maybe its an FPS thing? Many killers have different stuff happening for them between 60 and 120 fps…
I'm playing at 60fps, and I was aiming at the wall right behind a Survivor, but it doesn't splash towards survivors 5 times in a roll.
It's really inconsistent
-
I don't know why, but when I play her, that auto aim is not that consistent. Sometimes it aims, sometimes it doesn't,
-
I agree. That turn rate limitation makes him really clunky in loops, and lower his skill expression.
I've played the new Myers all days, and I missed lots of strikes just because it won't let me turn anymore, missing survivors right in front of me.
-
@Abbzy said:
He is good but slaughtering strike is more restricted and weaker but at the same time same to counter as billys saw maybe even more around round objects which is realy bad, it feels terrible and theres no need for mayers to have such bad special power. Tier 1 and 2 (the first and second mode you can change between) are fine but tier 3 the evil incarnate mode its horrible and main part of its problem is slaughtering strike, the decreased turn rate is bad and 40 meters terror radius for what jus because he can instadown, tell me how many killers can instadown with faster powers the speed of it its terrible, control when turning with is terrible worse than oni or billy which are far stronger killers, the dlowdowns when starting tier 3 and breaking pslett with it and chsrhing the strike are terrible it feels super bad. Billy has more range on saw, more room for control when its needed the most, can be patient with his saw. The oni has more control and simular range but it feels better, charging slaughtering strike feels like mayers in that animated meme where he hold pyramidheads knife istead of his own its just bad, big disappointment.
It does seem weird why Oni has 32m terror radius, but Myers has 40m despite not having mobility and shorter duration.
Hopefully they'll make it even better.

I dont have an issue with the change itself, necessarily. More so the timing.
This makes opportunistic tunneling much easier, but it's really putting this in with an update that was supposed to be anti-tunnel but ended up being super-tunnel. Every Killer QoL went through, none of the Survivor stuff did.
People seem to forget Survivors get more pallets in many maps, which is more than just QoL upgrade.

The Flight is really strong, but her ability to just slide around for a free hit is just ridiculous, especially on small loops.
Honestly the biggest thing i was confused from BHVR about was the nerf to mushrooms, they really didnt need to get nerfed at all but they did anyway.
I think if you just take Bamboozle on her, there is like nothing you can do on loops (I think there are even people saying she can hit over pallets? which if true with all of this baked in rn is just… yeah)
That sliding actually needs some practice, and the penalty of missing it is quite huge too, as the recovery is really long. If you remove her sliding she'll be very clunky to play, like Wesker that stuck at the slightest edge.
Like I said, the flight is what makes her strong, because even if she missed, she can immediately catch up to you.
-
@Blizer said:

I would usually agree with this philosphy, but Springtrap most people would agree was strong, but needed add-on nerfs before release (Celeberation Poster was a disgusting add-on from the PTB), but the rest of his kit was good and actually had skill expression and counterplay baked into his kit.
This on the other hand…. no I think she needs a hotfix, the only counterplay to her rn is body blocking which uhh in solo que is not gonna happen, and we both know that. Giving the killer Hug tech, nerfing mushrooms and quick cooldowns regarding her power was just… the wrong move, espically testing with the Anti-tunnel changes on the PTB (which likely affected BHVR's internal numbers, leading to her buffs)
At minimum, infection needs to be removed on hook and Hug-tech needs to be removed, its nerfs her ability to tunnel and makes it so you can counterplay on loops atleast, then i think we can wait and see how she looks.
Honestly, the only thing I've found overpowered is the flight. It can be used mid-chase, with no slowdown, recovery, and no need full energy means she'll always right on your back. It's like Spirit without charge time, no need to wait for fully charged, and she can see you directly.
I played some games where I purposely not spamming it mindlessly, and the chase becomes much harder to get downs and hits.
Anything else is fine for me though.
-
Can we please give it more time for people to learn more about her before asking for nerfs?
Last time when Springtrap were released so many people telling he's broken and needs nerf, then a month pass somehow people agree he's just mid-tier.
I think the same's going with Krasur. IMO she's about just as strong as Singularity, only easier to play. If you think Singularity is okay, she's probably okay too.
-
Honestly 3k + hatch should give you the achievement. Slugging for 4k is fun for neither side.
-
I've noticed the trend too.
I played quite a lot of Myers and Krasur today, and the gen speed between them is significant.
Myers match survivors are more chill, and generally match goes slower, but Krasur match goes by way faster.
Same thing happens when I play any S tier killer tbh. That's why I don't really like playing meta killers.
