    It's something you got to work towards, something you can't go to the boards to complain is OP every time you lose to it. I don't play with headphones, so I'm handicapped compared to others and can still hold my own in the high ranks. Do I lose awful on some matches? Yep. Do I win hard on others? Yep.

    Too many freak out on any hard loss and look to blame.

    Of course I knew you weren't serious. You're the type of get on here and cry. Why take advice and try to get better when you can complain and try to get nerfs to happen. :P

    Oh no how dare I talk about literal problems with game balance that are clear to see if you just take a moment to consider it. I honestly doubt you do play Killer, or you sit in the low to mid ranks and face potatoes. But whatever, the devs have shown their hand and have taken a stance that they know best and high skill players are just wrong.

    I like how Vex literally doesn't give any advice, instead he just writes out a lengthy "git gud", and bullshit.

    Like dude if you're not here to add to the discussion, get out of the discussion forums.

    Against an optimal team, you can't counter gen rushing - yet.

  • It's actually the timer that's the problem. In god loops where the survivor runs like 5 seconds to the same window (for example Rancid's barn), by the time they get back to the window the vault timer has already reset, so the entity never blocks the window.

    Your whole post goes about just going to the clock to wake up...

    And I dont think that a design flaw should be something which should change anyones playstyle.

    It's not a design flaw, it's entirely intended. God forbid survivors have another objective than to hold m1 on generators.

    • Remove Head Traps
    • Avoid Floor Triangles
    • Avoid Bear Traps
    • Stop being sick without giving Killer more power
    • Mend before that yellow bar runs out
    • etc, etc, etc

    I don't have any issues against Freddy, but that's probably because I also play him so I know how to counter him easily. Take the time to actually learn to counter the killer that the majority of good players find balanced - then to try and say it's broken. It looks bad on you.

    To be honest the best solution isn't even with Freddy at all, it's with the perk Borrowed Time. This dude has the best idea.

    All that mechanic does is promote proxy camping and tunneling. I think BT should be tied to distance from hook and not terror radius.

    Oh yeah, waking up helps a lot - except that once you got hit you are asleep again. So dont try to act smart like "jUsT wAkE uP", when this can easily be undone by just hitting the Survivor. And unsafe BT Rescues usually only result in Hook Trading, because the Killer will get in a Hit before the Unhook.

    Nothing wrong with that Mechanic that Freddy puts Survivors to sleep by hitting them btw., but it does not help at all to be awake when Freddy can change it while camping Hooks.

    The rest of my post still applies. Which is - by the way - how you deal with camping. Do you always pik at only a portion of a post to reply to or?

  • I've been a horror film fan since I was very little, the first Horror I seen was when I was 4 years old. It was the original Scream movie. My favorite slasher had always been Nightmare on Elm Street, because it was a dream based killer. I first heard of DBD when they first got Nightmare on Elm Street, and followed the game since then watching streamers, and youtube videos of updates and content. Finally got a PC that could run the game during the Stranger Things release. Then I did - wayyyy to much work learning a game to be good at Killer. Started playing Survivor some, found it way too easy. Then joined the Reddit and Forum communities.

    Now here I am. 🙋‍♂️

  • God what is with so many survivors refusing to learn more of the game than just "i JuSt HoLd M1 On GeNeRaToR, aNd RuN tO sAfE lOoPs HuRr DuRr". When you face Freddy his biggest counter - is waking tf up. He's called the DREAM DEMON for a reason. Literally nothing works in your favor when you are asleep! Don't go for unsafe hooks when you are asleep! Nothing works! You're Asleep! Here let me go ask Dan to make me a sandwhich, he's taking a nap right now. Oh would you look at that, dude didn't even budge. I wonder why. IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE HE IS ASLEEP.

    You easily would have countered the face camping Freddy if you just went to your clock, got it, and then went for the unhook. Alternatively, you could just wake up from your clock, and gen rush at that point. What is Freddy going to do to stop you? Nothing. He's face camping.

    Kicks trashcan over. Honestly we need to have a ranking system for forums at this point.

    This is the only way to have fun games right now: Doing the gens intentionally slow. Hoping the killer notices the slow gen speed and then decides to play soft instead of camping/tunneling/whatever.

    OMG I think I faced a team like this earlier today. They just kept failing skill checks for some reason, and I was like "######### are these potatos that ranked to red? I best go easy on them". Then we had a fun match, I got 2 kills, they got 2 escapes. I black pip'd the escapee's double pip'd, and the 2 that died pip'd. Everyone said gg, and had a laugh in end game chat. It was a good time.

    That's fracking nuts.

  • It just kind of happened, and then never came back. Without even a mention.

  • Survivor Ques are really long, and matches are really short. There also is very little attention needed to play survivor, me and my gf started to watch shows while playing together.

    Killer has been weird, idk how but I think matchmaking has gotten even worse. I am seeing survivors make very bad plays as red ranks, and I keep facing green/yellow ranks in red. Then out of no where I face just 4man swfs for 6 trials in a row. Also when did survivors get so many toolboxes? To be honest it's a stressful, confusing ######### show,

  • A lot of inconsistencies have come up with the recent patch, some kind of visual update or something. I imagine it affected Freddy placing snares too (and other killers placing objects).

  • @BabyOniMain said:

    I am seeing survivors with scraps as their perk load out(Not even maxed and perks you could tell they picked because that's what they could get and hadn't unlocked any perks) and have seen survivors who doesn't know borrowed time exist in Red ranks.

    What the hell is happening even man. A few months ago I was arguing that Killer has the higher skill ceiling but apparently that's survivor now. Holy

    I never thought to combine Sloppy with Dying Light. That's a pretty good idea to balance out the super soldier Dying Light grants survivors. I'm going to try that, thank-you.

    What like PGTW having all tiers give 25% and another 30s time added?

    Sloppy being buffed to 20%?

    And that's just two.

    Both sides have had nerfs and buffs over time. It's rare a perk gets completely reworked tbh but some will only ever see what they lose and not what they have gained when a buff was done.

    You're right about Pop Goes the Weasel, but Sloppy Butcher may have been given a buff. However now more than half the Killers that relied on it. Straight up can't use it anymore in their kit, because of their continuous nerfs Killer's abilities with very little give.

  • I've changed my Freddy to;

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

    Freddy w/ Pill Bottle, and Unicorn Block

    Make Your Choice, Surveillance, Pop Goes The Weasel, Barbecue & Chili

    Changed my Legion to;

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

    Legion w/ Stolen Sketch Book, Iridescent Button (or Legion Pin)

    Thanatophobia, Nurses Calling, Pop Goes the Weasel, Surveillance

    I am working on finding new builds for my Ghostface, and Clown. Though I didn't use Ruin for Freddy in the first place, I did previously use his slow down add ons to substitute ruin. Then when they changed them I ran ruin for my farming build (rip distressing/ruin Freddy). I don't make 100k bp a match anymore, but I win most of my matches. Now if only I would pip for getting 2 or more kills, that would be nice. Then winning would actually feel like winning when the game rewards me for doing so.

  • I think what has put me on the line so far, was during this whole Hex:Ruin debacle. The community in general became immensely worse, and more toxic. During this time I put my trust in the Dev's to continue to have passion for the game, wanting to make it fun for both sides. At the same time I figured I would follow some of the streamers they've mentioned in threads during the recent changes. Yesterday I watched OhTofu for the first time, and he was in the midst of mocking the entire portion of the community that was against ruin changes. Then his point that Ruin isn't needed was running Hillbilly VS a team of potato's and stomping them. Then asked his viewers to pay 100 subs to play a Killer they've asked for. Like I've adapted to the ruin changes, and that's not the part I care about, but I do care about the poor ranking system not rewarding players for playing well. I care about how toxic the community is compared to how I thought when I watched streamers like Cahla and smaller streamers where the game was having fun. I also care about that in high ranks there are clear issues that are directly being ignored ruining the fun for the part of the community that are competitive.

    The dev's giving so much support to a streamer that straight up openly mocks even a small group of the games community - for any reason, looks really bad for me, but this was my first encounter with the streamer, and I see other people talk highly of him, so I might give them all another chance in the future, but if that's the message the dev's are trying to convey. I'm on a thin line of leaving too.

    Gonna check out this Resident Evil game though, loved that series for years.

    Just came out of a game where after I got a 2k, one of the survivors said that I had tunneled him at the end and I disagreed with him over this.

    This is what had happened (I was playing clown BTW). There was only one gen left and I was in a chase with him. He was injured and I was able to down him. The last gen got popped and he used his adrenaline to get back up. So I kept chasing him until I downed him again (this made sense to me as he was the only one injured and I couldn't see any other survivors around me). I hooked him when shortly after the survivors opened one of the gates. He gets saved but I'm back in time to hit his savior once. They both tried to race over to the gate. I was targeting the savior but the guy who got rescued was behind him so I had to hit him, otherwise they would both escape. I rushed the other survivor out and picked up the downed one again and hooked him. He then messaged me "nice tunnel noob".

    Is he just being entitled or should I have let them go "for fairness". I like to think that I play fairly as killer. I would hardly ever tunnel and never camp (unless it's at the end). Can someone let me know?

    That's not tunneling. That's playing killer.

    Tunneling is when you single out a survivor and solely chase them, even against better options.

    In this case you simply did what was needed of you to get your objective done, in the best way possible.

    Survivors will always call down killers when they lose. It's easy for survivor to play this game, it's hard for Killers. Mechanically, and emotionally. The Dev's seem to ignore it, going as far as advertising streamers that openly mock portions of the community.

    Wipe the dirt off, and try to have fun.

    DbD does not have a clearly defined win condition. However, the generators being completed is definitely not it.

    Then why does the score system punish killers when Gen's are complete? There are so many times you have to let generator's go, just to confirm another kill, or you simply will not make it to that side of the map in time. Like they have 5.

    Killers should be getting points for scaring survivors off generators, damaging generators, and paroling them at least if you are gonna count generators in the pip system for killers.

  • I just got a 4k in a match, where I patrolled as much as you could possibly with Killer. Still got a silver in Gatekeeper, and still only got a single pip in a match I Iridescent in all other categories, and I also got 32k points (maximum).

    If you already have a totem in mind finding is usually less than 10 sec

    nvm you're right. I've been playing too much Legion

  • Last time I spoke against Self Care people hammered me down, with some mathematics that if you self care, and 1 person works on a generator then that's faster than the survivor getting off the generator healing you, then both jumping back on. Which makes sense, but my argument was that Inner Strength is infinitely better because it changes the self curing time from 32 seconds to 8 seconds.

    At the same time Inner Strength has other benefits;

    1. Counters NOED - Clearing Totems
    2. Counters Nurses Calling - You're not mending
    3. Counters Sloppy Butcher - Ignores ailments (except Broken)
    4. Pairs Well With Perks - Decisive Strike, Head On, Quick & Quiet, Dance With Me
    5. Is faster, so you still are not taking someone off the generator, but instead get on the generator faster - which means the generator get's repaired even faster.

    Hmm?

    What's that?

    I hope they cross platform xbox and PC soon, because I have some friends that want to join us.

  • It is for Killer's that can't loop well. Like Clown. Clown has a large hitbox, so when he takes turns he has to take them wider than survivors. So in a chase he moves the same speed as survivors turning around loops. Oni is another example, but Oni's secondary ability makes him played differently than a 1v1 chase killer.

    It's also a really good perk overall for closing off god loops, like the safe house.

But I'd like to know how it's been for Red rank killers, have you been put against survivors with the same rank as yours? Or has it been a mixture of all different ranks?

    Screenshots if you have them would be helpful.

    I've been against Red rank back to back mostly all of the time. To this point I have just assumed it's because they can't find many killers in the pools to my rank.

    Yep. It is definitely a massive buff to Legion as he forces survivors off generators.

    It's great! Legion Pin is like a stronger Sloppy Butcher, that and Thanatophobia. You just run around, everyone runs from gens. Everyone get's hit. They all try to do gens, they have max slow till they heal. They try to heal. YET HERE YOU COME AGAIN FOR ROUND 2.

    Anyone who get's caught out of place, get's the hook.

  • Nah fam, don't need survivors - put me in the room with other Killers and I bet any money we would have a lot more fun than when we did playing against survivors.

  • Then even if the Killer does do good, 4 people harass you in chat. Nah man you're totally right it's a bully simulator pinning 4 people on 1, and then when the 1 person reaches out the dev's themselves turn the blind eye.

    Omg it's junior high.

    Good morning denizens of the fog! Today I was kind of curious if you implemented any self imposed rules for your playstyle. For me personally I hate dealing with people falsely reporting me, accusing me of cheating, belittling me, throwing racial slurs at me, and going on my steam page to harass me fr several weeks (yes I have had people write multiple negative comments on my profile over the course of two weeks). To kind of mitigate this I sub consciously implemented self imposed rules.

    I did not realize it, but I have become a much nicer killer then when I first started playing. Some of these rules include I will never use a motu unless someone is on their death hook, if someone unhooks someone else in front of me I let the injured survivor go, if a person dcs before 2 gens are done I let at least one person go.

    I did not realize I started doing this until recently, however even straining myself to pretend I don't see survivors near hooks ready to rescue, going easy on people that are injured or simply took a left instead of a right. However as I continue to play I find myself enjoying the game less, getting less kills, and surprise people still insult me. I think the tip of the iceberg was a Swf group that did not perform well. I brought an ebony mori, but I did not use it till they were on their death hook. I even slugged two of them so try got one more chance since they only had completed 2 gens by that point. However they still lost and the last person died before the 4th generator was done. I showed mercy on them multiple times and I was still met with a slur of insults and informing me I would not have gotten a single kill if I did not bring a mori.

    I still subconsciously follow my own silly rules and wanted to know if any other killer or survivor did the same thing. Have a good day fellow denizens ^^

    My Rules As Killers:

    • Kill 2 Survivors - Then take game hostage
    • Max all BP categories
    • Kill last 2 Survivors - They can double pip and die, I cannot.

    My Rules As Survivors:

    • Get Objective BP category to at least half.
    • Max All Other BP categories.
    • Finish objective
    • If game lasted 9 minutes - die, otherwise escape by any means.
  • As a late game perk it's pretty bad. For some reason in the first 20 seconds of the match I hear this loud noise, and some light flickers in the distance. Then my Ruin just doesn't work anymore.

    Sometimes it's not even 20 seconds. Weird, hopefully the dev's fix this bug.

  • So far I have had 2 games as Legion with this new Ruin. In both those games 2 survivors dc'd.

    I really don't like the sudden Ruin changes.

    But I do appreciate this Legion buff.

  • I find it hilarious that after they destroyed Ruin, the bad players then directly started targeting some of the worst killers in the game to nerf. Like please, how low will they go?

    At this point they might as well just start each match with the doors wide open.

    Oh wait, they will just tell you to nerf NOED at that point LUL

    If you're not geting 50k bp each round as killer then you're doing something wrong.

  • @TheWind said:

    I've seen people say a lot that killers hold the game hostage and I can't think of a way that they can to be honest. Everything they do is on a timer. Let me be clear, I don't care if killers or survivors hurt your feelings, I'm talking about he ability to leave a game.

    Point: only survivors can hold a game hostage.

    Slugging - you'll die eventually, sure you have to sit and die but there is an end

    Camping - you lose points, it's a bummer and frustrating but the killer loses points too. It's basically mutually assured destruction. Still, a hook is a timer and when you die, while sad, the game goes on.

    Non-participation - the killer broke and just stands there. No gen pressure means you can just do the gens and leave. He's not preventing you from doing literally anything. Not sure what broke in them but it happens.

    Tunneling - you're an easy target or the killer has decided you're the guy. When you die, the game will continue.

    In contrast, what happens if a group of survivors refuses to do gens and is a swf or just better than the killer. Is there a way for the game to end that doesn't involve disconnecting? I can't think of one but there could be.

    If I'm missing something let me know.

    By the definition of "Holding Game Hostage" for report purposes, you can kill 3 survivors, and then block the last survivor in a corner. If the hatch is still open the game won't end. The last survivor would be forced to DC. I've actually seen this done before to me and friends because the Killer didn't want to hit the survivor, giving him a speed boost, and then eventually loop the killer till the survivor got the hatch - or the killer didn't chase and then just the survivor found the hatch first.

    My definition of taking the game hostage, is when I kill 2 survivors before they finish their 3rd gen, and then I keep slugging/hooking/chasing, basically just beating on the last 2 survivors until I max all of my bp catagories, and then I finally kill the last 2 survivors by slugging one, and then hooking the other for the 4k. It's what is required of you in red ranks, and I absolutely hate it.

  • A when solo before 10 minutes. C if I was in game less than 10 minutes (Iridescent shards max at 10 minutes).

    B if in a SWF, I don't care about my dailies, I care more about having fun. I'll do my daily's later.

  • Bad players get into high ranks, the Killers stomp those bad players quickly.

    Because the game ended so quickly against bad solo survivors who ranked easily the Killer de-pips or black pips, even though the Killer got 2-4 kills.

    Behavior receives these statistic's, looks at them, puts the score that says they de-pip'd or black piped into the shredder and goes "They got 2 (or more) kills, that's balance".

    ~~~
    Now if the dev's fixed ranking, making it harder for survivors to rank up when they play bad.
    Only the good survivors get into Purple, and Red ranks. They start to see in Purple and Red Ranks the killers getting stomped each round, with little as to 1 kill or no kills.
    They start to see the Killers are much weaker than survivors (some more so than others). Then at the same time start to see that even if a Killer plays well the score doesn't reward them.
    ~~~

    Developers then buff weaker killers.

    Also maybe add a voice chat so that Solo survivors have the same tools as SWF.

    Like dude I know you like to stalk me on the forums to try and bat down my opinions, but by the end of the day we both want the same thing. A balanced and fun game for EVERYONE, and not just one side.

  • @Joao_Bandicoot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122039/how-can-any-killer-complain-about

    So... a problem with the Ranking system doesn't invalidate the complain of the Killers. Just cause the game puts boosted Survivors in your lobby the game is not "balanced", when you verse the real red rank survivors the match is most likely a stomp on the Killer.

    Though if they stop letting all the bad survivor players rank up so easily then statistic's would become more accurate and then they could actually balance killer's better.

    Lol and the dev's thought Ruin was their only problem skewing statistic's.

    There is a reason that the saying is "The game is easier when you kill the weak ones first".
