You know what's ACTUALLY boring? Whiny survivor mains that log into DbD to play a 4 minute "speed fix the generator" simulator, and spec to near invincibility to do so. Your entire gameplay loop, should the killers "not be boring", involves running to 5 generators undetected, being nearly unstoppable if you ARE detected and walking to the exit unscathed in under 10 minutes. You don't have the right to call ANYTHING boring XD
Because the fact is, this IS a horror game. You're the one ruining it, not us. That's like saying Monopoly isn't a game about real estate just because all you want to do when you "play it" is to jam all the hotels up your nose and play with the money. Doesn't mean you're right. Just means you suck at the very CONCEPT of Monopoly. This game is at its best when it feels like it's meant to. This OP is just whining because his usually neigh-invincible bullshit spec/mods can't save them from everything and was likely prevented from winning in 7 minutes.
Best part for me is, I'm getting to the point to where I can identify you people pretty quickly, and boy oh boy do you get salty when you're hook camped <3
Jesus, calm down my dude.

You make a very good point how deathslingers only real upside is that he is good in chase. But so is someone like demogorgon and I don't find him boring. I agree with you saying that all of them execpt spirit and clown are balanced. I'm trying to make this a case of having fun within a chase rather than a matter of balance. I personally only place survivor to get really fun chases with the killer. OUtplaying them with my knowledge and skill that I've aquired by playing survivor and killer is extremely rewarding, but all the killer I mentioned don't really care about my skill level. It just depends on how good the killer is rather than it mattering how good the surivor and killer is. Also for context everything I say is meant to be in the context of you being chased by the killer.
I think the key difference there is Demo is nowhere near as good in a chase. He has a mediocre chase, as well as mediocre map traversal. I do understand that Slinger isn't nearly as fun for Survivor, it does suck to be randomly speared from outside is terror radius if he's using the right perks and add-ons, but the whole "Why don't people understand what a boring killer is?" title leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If anything I just need Slinger needs a noise right before he shoots. Then, you can react if you're fast enough.
-
Ah, yes, my favorite perk. Decisive Ctrike.
On a serious note, unless the Dev's rework DS somehow, the "locker-tech" is going to stay. It sucks, but what can ya do?
-
Boring is subjective. I personally agree on the topic of spirit and clown, but I find Pyramid Head and Deathslinger fun to go against. You can find a killer boring, that's fine, but in terms of balance I personally think they're (except Spirit) are balanced. Slinger has his chase, and only his chase. They nerfed PH recently, and Clown is being reworked (I think?) On the topic of the whole "horror" thing...
The game markets itself as a horror game. It has horror icons within the game. There is a reason people think it's a horror game.
-
I mean, Pyramid Head is a lot more then executioner. He's a dark manifestation of James' darkest parts, made to punish him for what he's done. The mannequins he assaults are manifestations of James' skewed thoughts towards women, and PH's abuse is more symbolic then anything.

People tend to interpret things based on their own experiences. I see the mattresses and beds as nothing more than temptations for the tired to give in and fall asleep so that Freddy can enter their dreams. For you to jump to the conclusion that they're there for ######### children is disturbing.
Freddy is literally a pedophile in the movie. It's not a out there thought.

Horror is supposed to take you out of your comfort zone. Stalkers aren't rainbows and kittens.
That's a thin line to walk on. A lot of people watch or play horror because they want to be scared, being scared is fun - not everyone wants to face the cesspool that humanity can be at the same time. But, in general, yeah - DbD has some dark themes already within. Freddy is just a different kind of dark compared to the usual for the game. PH, as I've said in this thread before, is implied to do something similar.

Oh wait, I just found out that in Silent Hill 2 during the first Pyramid Head fight, having your brightness high will allow you to see it!
Holy crap, he is way more jacked in DbD than he was in SH2, at least it looks like it. Also, gross, hate it.

Little fun fact about Pyramid Head: In Silent Hill 2 during the scene with Pyramid Head and the Mannequin scene, Pyramid Head has his tongue out but due to how dark the screen is and the position of the camera you cannot see it
This was confirmed by the man who created Pyramid Head, Masahiro Ito
Wow, how fun.
I wonder why he hasn't gotten shipped with anyone yet?
/s
-
Yeah, oof. I haven't seen the movie, but I believe that's just where he slept, because he was the Pre-Schools gardener (which I think would be, like, illegal). Both Freddy and Pyramid Head are probably the darkest characters, as both their stories have (implied) sexual abuse.

Breakable walls in general are fine. Ideally you want the wall to be in a strong, but not infinite, loop and have the wall be something that weakens the loop if it’s broken. That way the killer has a choice between not taking time to break the wall, but maybe losing time in a chase there, or spending time breaking the wall and increasing the chance of a quicker hit at that loop.
The issue is with specific breakable walls on specific maps that are either at infinite loops (so the killer MUST break them or they’re in serious trouble) or that breaking the wall has no impact at all or, even worse, makes the tile stronger for survivors (like why are there breakable walls on the attic in the Macmillain house? They just open up new paths of escape for the survivor, I can’t see a reason to break them as the killer at all.)
So breakable walls in general are a positive feature for the game, it’s specific certain walls that they may want to revisit.
That is my only problem with them, is that they're being used in infinites (or being placed in seemingly random places where the killer would never break them). If they were used a lot better, like some of the walls in Midwich (even if I hate that map) or Dead Dawg, I'd be fine with them. As is, I think these infinite creating ones are bad for the game and it boggles my mind how they even thought they were a good idea.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Devs know that the Walls are bad. Or, to be more precise, I cannot imagine that they dont know about it. But they are bruteforcing them into the game at this point.
But aside from the Storehouse, I dont think that the Walls on MacMillan are that bad. On Coaltower they are actually pretty nice, since the Map did not need to get a Rework to begin with. But really needed or asked for where they not on MacMillan.
I hope they will stop doing those Walls in the future. I hate them.
I can't imagine they think they're actually good for the game, but I don't know. They've shocked me before.

"*Insert* *Game* *Here* is dying!" Posts have existed for pretty much every game and will continue to exist, especially when people look at stats as the only thing that matters. They're annoying, but they're never gonna stop.

Thanks for the replies. I will try using killer again.
Who do you guys recommend leveling up? I have Auric Cells so don't mind spending for a locked killer...Just someone fairly easy to learn.
Well, what killers do you have? Someone fairly easy to learn... Probably Legion, but he's not the best. Myers is fairly easy to learn in my opinion, but he's still pretty fun. For someone more powerful, well.. There's always Good Ol' Freddy. Freddy is very powerful, and also incredibly easy to learn, because why not.
-
No, you were the only one doing the smart thing. Facecampers want you to go for saves, and I don't understand why more people don't just do gens in those cases. You can get most of the gens done while one person is getting facecamped. It's not fun, but it's the best way to deal with it. If anything, your teammates are toxic, just as much as the killer is.

Thank god I'm not the o ly one who noticed lol thanks :)
No problem! As others have said, a lot of killers just have powers that practically generate BP for them, and Survivor BP depends on a lot of things, like how good the killer is, what your teammates are doing.
-
It also kinda depends on what rank you're at, and what killer you're playing against.
But in general, yes. Killer's have a much easier time gaining bloodpoints than survivors do.
-
Oh, goodie. Now I can have an even worse time against Freddy! What a time to be alive.

That could be it. Even if it's not an astroturfing campaign, it'd make sense that a new game would spark some interest in having FNAF characters in a MP game, and DbD is the "go-to" for horror nowadays.
While I particularly care for Springtrap in general, I can see why people think he would be a good business choice. I mean, FNaF made the creator a hugely, hugely rich man in the span of, like, two years. It's huge, even if I don't think he'd be the best choice.

It does feel like an astroturfing campaign, doesn't it? All of a sudden we're getting regularly flooded with threads like this when there was no interest in FNAF for years.
I'm wondering it it's because it's getting a Launch Title on the PS5, kinda bringing it back into the main stream.

Hush. We don't dare mention Old Legion
-
Legion isn't the worst killer in the game, but I wouldn't exactly call him good either. He excels at injuring people, and that... Is it. He has no real chase potential, and no real way to get around the map quickly, so he just kinda turns into an M1 killer after that. I'd put him in the same league as Wraith, one of my mains. They both can get first hits really easy, but lack in getting a second hit. Wraith has more map traversal, but Legion has the easiest time injuring in the entire game.

So you mean the fences that xeno mentioened? The Killer can just vault it too so what is the Point?
Well, a Survivor vaults much faster than a killer does, and with the bug right now, effectively blocking any other entrance to a fence, it makes them near infinites.

True enough. I just hope they follow the same logic they applied for Keys. I think it worked pretty well there.
Despite what I said, it would certainly make Mori games less tunnel-y.
-
@Moundshroud said:

Devour can be cleansed.
Fair, but like I said, in the right conditions it'd still be far more powerful. It doesn't really matter, as we have no idea how they'll be reworked and any ideas are just speculation.
-
@Moundshroud said:
I personally hope they rework the Ebony Memento Mori (the only one with an issue) in the same style as the Key rework, except to tie it to Hooks, i.e. one must get (4) Hooks before it unlocks, and then can Mori one Survivor, and for each Hook after four it can Mori another. *But it isn't limited to someone who has been downed, merely the number. Thus;
4 Hook = 1 Mori
5 Hooks = 2 Mori
6 Hooks = 3 Mori
7 Hooks = 4 Mori
*Simple and guarantees a minimum of three more hooks than the current system.
I mean, good idea on paper, but then Devour becomes much more powerful than a regular Mori, as that only needs 5 hooks, and grants the exposed effect. Sure, it's a Hex, but in the right map nobody will find or, or if you don't have Ruin/Undying they might think it's a trap hex. Part of me think's they'll just tie it to death hook. If a survivor is on Death Hook, you can mori them instead. Simple. I've even seen people wanting to make this idea base, which... I don't know about.
But we won't really know until they're reworked, so.

I think most folks are missing the point of the term Ultra Rare. Meaning is highly uncommon, rare. It would not break the game because it would effect a small percentage of games. I did not say do away with teachables, it would not change how most people play their games. It would be for a unique once in awhile change of play.
It would be fun and give the killers the same "oh snap!" moments in game when they figure out a Survivor played an Ultra Rare, sort of how Survivors feel when they get hit once and moried. Like, "I did not see that coming."
I mean... Eh. Most of the Ultra Rares in this game are currently being reworked to make them less powerful, and with the Mori, the Survivor's know it's coming. There are only a few hidden offerings for killer, and odds are it's a Mori. Ultra rare also seems to mean "kinda rare" in this game, I swear I get 2 or 3 in every single bloodweb.
I just think at the end of the day, it'd basically give the Survivor's a 5th perk. For your comparison to the killer Ultra Rares, most of them are either completely useless, see PH and Oni, or are known problems and are probably going to get an add-on pass. We know Huntress is getting one, probably doing away with Iri head, and they talked about Myers getting one eventually. Only a few killers have Ultra Rares that aren't OP or Terrible, probably like Wraith, Ghostface. Would it be fun? Hell yes it would be.
But it'd also be incredibly unbalanced. That's just my two cents though.
-
Could it be better? Sure.
It's better than it used to be.
-
@stvnhthr said:
Right now all survivors are interchangeable with teachable perks, any survivor can use any build. How about balancing the game a bit and give survivors ultra rare add-ons like killers have? So Claudette could have something like ultra fast heals or Nea could have no exhaustion balance landing. Give the survivor add-ons which are specific to their unique Perks. It could make the game more interesting and challenging. Most of the junk you get on the bloodweb is useless or has minor impact on the game.
Seriously some of the stuff killers get is insane in making the game unbalanced. Mike gets unlimited tier 3? Yeah try countering that. But with a little balance the killers could be forced to work instead of just using endless clutch add-ons.
It's a neat idea, but I don't see it working. It could really screw with the precious M E T A, and good survivors would only take the best Survivor Add-Ons. No exhaustion Balanced Landing on Haddonfield sounds like hell.
Also, Infinite Myers isn't that bad. I'd rather go against a Infinite T3 Myers than a Freddy, ever. Besides, I'm pretty sure he's getting a Add-On pass.

I don't even play her for dailies. I can respect a good Hag, but I find pretty much every other killer in this game more fun to play and play against. I'd much rather go against a Spirit or Deathslinger then a Hag. The only killer I dislike more is Freddy.

I mean, there's also the fact that I despise Hag and her playstyle, so I didn't really complete her challenges unless they were easy. So I don't really know her lore too well, I'm sure it probably explained her archive entries.

That's the tough thing. I feel like in a hypothetical scenario they'd all just... Kill each other. Especially Oni, Myers, and PH. They're some angery bois
But in a fun way... It's David x Dwight and no one can change my mind.
