If the issue is the DLCs, I feel like being able to share cosmetics and prestige levels etc would be good enough for now.
-
I've had one fun game against SM, and she didn't drone the gens. She won purely with a chase build (got a 3k and the last survivor found hatch). There are definitely SM players out there who choose not to go the 3 gen route, they're just outnumbered by those who do choose to do so.
-
This is the community that doesn't consider itself responsible for anyone else's fun. That's why.
-
He's probably the killer I do the most well against, but then I play him myself sometimes which helps obviously.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone use Overcome, ever. Honestly I wish they did, it'd be interesting to figure out how to play against it.
It was my exhaustion of choice from the moment Jonah was released. I've dropped it now because of the healing nerfs.
-
I've only ever done it as I'm about to leave, so i cant say a killer has ever been nice after it because it's endgame. I do it just as a nice gesture after a good game because I'm on console and can't give a "ggwp" in chat. People like to save their items so me leaving mine behind is like me saying I don't mind losing it because the fun I had with them was enough.

I get that, but the devs should understand the game well enough to know that an AOE tracking mechanic does nothing if it's not placed on an objective point. There's zero reason to place a drone at a random jungle gym because there's no reason for a survivor to ever be there outside of a chase. That's just a basic understanding of DbD that the devs should have.
I wouldn't expect anyone to put a drone on a random tile. My assumption has always been that they were meant to be a mechanic to drive survivors in chase away from tiles/loops.

I think Pentimento is one of the stronger ones, especially with the healing nerfs. Alot more people bringing Inner Healing.

I'd like to point out that the Devs designed her to be that way.
You can't blame killers for playing a killer how it was intended to be played
I don't believe that was their intention. They released a video back when she was first released, and she was intended to be a tracker/hunter. Not stand in one corner of the map guarding gens and chasing no one. It's the players who decide to take the path of least resistance.
-
Lobby dodging doesn't help with this sort of thing either. The game will start to prioritise queue time over skill matching. This is something the community needs to be better about imo.

Preach my good sir. I’m not saying she’s the most fun killer to play as or against but geez sometimes I can’t help but feel things are overly exaggerated sometimes.
The problem is the way people use her. I have yet to have anybody message me about having a terrible game against my skull merchant. I love running Chase builds with her along with totem builds. My pentimento, devour, undying, blood Favor build be having me feeling bad for the survivors sometimes though.
Yup. I've had *one* good SM game since she came out, and the killer ran a chase build and didn't even attempt a 3 gen at any point. They got 3k (last survivor got hatch). It was the only time I was like, hey she can actually be fun to play against... imagine that. No one DC'd or let go on hook. It was a good game.

"Thing is, with matchmaking being such a problem, you'd think that both sides would have equal complaints about matchmaking, but at least I personally see much more complaints from survivors than killers."
One factor though is that killers see who they're going against, and many can (and will) dodge if they perceive the team to be a swf or the prestiges are high. There was a topic here not long ago about this and most who commented said they do dodge at times. If that killer keeps dodging til they find a lobby with gaps that will be filled by solo queue, and there's a clear skill/experience discrepancy, then yeah survivors will be likely to complain about it. Killers aren't likely to complain about a lobby they shopped for.

Pointless. There's thousands of killers who are amazing who don't post online, or twitch stream, or are on PC where there is charts of kills. Console killers are insanely good too.
Saying a streamer is the best like supaalf nurse. How do you know he's the best nurse? Because he YouTube's and has a streak and hangs about with 'comp' self proclaimed elites?
There are probably many players who remain quiet and out of the light who are better at nurse.
Just saying my 2 cents.
That kind of goes without saying though. People are talking about those who put themselves on a public platform as that's all they can reference. There's been a few times where people have said the devs should put together a team of the top players as advisors, and they'll mention the likes of Otz and Tru3, etc. Chances are the top players of DBD are complete unknowns.
-
Dunno about the best as I haven't watched too many to compare to, but Evidious (a Fog Whisperer) is a great Plague main
-
My solo escape rate pre-6.1 was higher than it is now. I accepted the decrease, knew they wanted to increase kill rates and solo would be the side to do that. So yeah, it was disappointing to yet again have an update several months later that disproportionately affected solo players. Two meh chapter releases in a row hasn't helped.
On the positive side, 2022 brought us Sadako, Dredge, and Wesker's chapters, which I enjoyed. The HUD update was a nice breath of fresh air too.
-
I go for hooks when I play killer. I find the survivors I get match my energy more often than not (ie don't get sweats)

Try to keep going.
You already need to dig the history that 7 patchs ago and half of their nerf are so tiny or even isn't really a nerf.
Is every patch supposed to include nerfs?

The majority is from Asian players review-bombing DBD when the PTB severely nerfed healing, as the Asian DBD community is fond of self-healing.
There were people on this forum calling for review bombing when the Eruption nerf was announced, and that was recent too. Blaming a subset of players is silly when the gaming community in general loves to weaponise reviews.
-
I like that they have different noise levels. Inexperienced players can play quieter ones until they gain confidence, and more experienced players will enjoy the challenge of louder ones. To me it's like the cosmetics, where newer players will use more immersive clothing to blend in while older players dgaf and wear the bright stuff.

The short answer is yes.
Call me a trash, entitled survivor main or whatever, but at the end of the day the killer strategies/play styles that were terrible against SWFs and only effective against bad solo queue team for the better part of six years are now decent against SWFs and completely destroy solo queue. It's been this way for nearly a year and BHVR has not acknowledged this problem in any fashion. In fact, they've consistently exacerbated it since then.
How do you think they get the kill rates to a level they're happy with? They can't/won't manipulate swfs too much, but solo is easy enough. I don't think BHVR see it as a problem. I think it's actually by design.

Sometimes I feel like the only survivor main who doesn't mind Blight...

Honestly it is games after games after games after games, 100% of this kind of build, insta heal and/or gen rush, sometimes a mix of both.
3 gens out during the first chase.
The 2 were almost done 2 minutes later.
How should i play this ? Explain me cause honestly, there is no way.
5 pallets 3 meters away from each others, no anti-lopp power, what should i do ?
What is the point to nerf self-healing when a survivor with we'll make it can heal you in 8 seconds, pretty much nothing while a killer needs 2,34 seconds to break a pallet ?
Only one PT in that game. A Resilience too, but since you said 3 gens popped first chase then I imagine no value was had from that. No toolboxes either. This particular team didn't come to genrush. Yet you say they somehow managed to.
I'm not saying matchmaking doesn't need fine tuning, but it also helps to recognize where our weaknesses lie and use the tools we have available to help us. Early game perks, like Corrupt and Lethal Pursuer might help out a bit. Overcommitting to chase is also common and can be detrimental to the killer as it removes pressure on the other survivors. If they have nothing else to do, they will do gens.

I would slightly rework her power but keep the theme the devs had. Unlike most of you I watched the behind the scene video for SM and like the idea/theme they ran with for her. I enjoy playing as her also so I don't want her to be deleted.
Personally I do think a lot of people are blowing this whole SM thing up a lot. Honestly I still think most of you hate her bc she isn't some ugly cyborg or Terminator like killer. Before you start on the whole sexualizing thing let me remind you most ppl drool over shirtless male character skins in DBD so I do think there a double standard when it comes to visual designs and sexization in the community for this game.
Either way I would just rework her power slightly to make other play styles more desirable other than 3 genning.
Actually, when she was first announced and the PTB began, I was one of the middle ground people here. I was telling people to calm down, to take time to learn her before making a judgement, and to trust that any adjustments that would be needed would be made. I had no issue also with her look, nor did I have any expectations on her being a cyborg. Her lore etc doesn't bother me in the slightest. I gave the benefit of the doubt 100%. Now that I've time with her to form my opinion? 100% dislike.
-
Rework would be ideal. Only problem is that the devs will have already moved onto future chapters and have little time or resources for that. They're probably more likely to chalk her up to a miss, or maybe in a year or so theyll set aside a team for it. Ultimately she's 1 killer out of 30+. Probably easier just to let everyone give up when the game drags for too long. Personal choice and all that.

And I totally get that, and I hate violating what I regard as the "social contract" in a game like this by boning out early and leaving teammates (even temporary ones I don't know, since all I play is Solo Queue) in the lurch. But sometimes I don't have a choice when I only have an hour or so on a day to play a game, and I get a 40 minute SM match.
Honestly, I give a 20 minute limit max and I'm never the first to duck out lol someone always does it way before I do. So with one or two less people it's even more pointless to stick around.

I honestly dont know how someone can look at the state of SoloQ and instantly jump to "SWF is the issue here".
SoloQ has always been in a rough spot, but BHVR pushing the game to be more competitive while also not providing SoloQ the resources to deal with competitive-based situations has left it in an even worse position than ever; even after the HUD changes.
One of the things that has hurt SoloQ the most is the inconsistent teammates, it's always been an issue (kinda). When BHVR changes SBMM to be less strict, it made the game significantly worse for SoloQ because you cannot rely on your teammates to do anything right.
But here is the thing, BHVR is in a catch-22, if the make SBMM more strict than people will complain that Killer is too stressful, but if you dont change SBMM, the game becomes miserable for SoloQ. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. SBMM/MMR has overall hurt the game in almost every way possible, and has made the flaws with the game insanely noticeable.
I could go on and on with hundreds of other possible factors that made the game the way it is but frankly I dont think people want to sit here and read a 10-page essay of anecdotal commentary involving the state of the game, regardless, I hope my point is clear, the issue is not SWF, it's BHVR's inability to make effective changes.
They did those SBMM tests last year, and the stricter the matchmaking, the longer the queues as well. People waiting 15min+ for a game, and high MMR waiting for over an hour. I honestly can't see how they can fix it to please everyone.
-
In return, you have more survivors playing injured and thus chases/downs should be quicker. Not that that matters anyway, since you have an almost 100% 4k rate.
-
They were nerfed because of high usage. BHVR started this process back with the 6.1 update. They want more perk variety being used and less meta builds.
-
Let it go. JRM is a pretty decent survivor and even he estimated his success rate with DH at about 20% since 6.1 update. Any decent streamer i watched who played with that perk had a low success rate. If you had great success with it then I think you're a good enough survivor to be able to play the game without it.
-
I'm pretty sure that ended September 2022. It was true though as I was able to do this with the PS4 Nightmare Edition, they transferred it to my PS5

I disagree.
right now those perks still work. They are less effective but they still allow to win matches.
The fact that they nerfed DH and CoH is what broke the stalemate.
The 3 gen developed in popularity in Nov 2022 after a popular Coconuts video, and it developed following the 6.1 Eruption buff. It had nothing right do with DH and COH. It was because slowdown perks at the time created a perfect storm where killers didn't need to chase. There's a reason it was called the kick meta. It's funny that said slowdown perks recieved nerfs that made them no longer effective at holding a 3 gen stalemate, but your conclusion is that two survivor perks that have been in the game for years were responsible
-
I would imagine that if you are losing often (what do you consider losing though - there are some players who consider anything less than a 4k a "loss") then eventually you *should* realistically settle somewhere comfortable MMR wise. There would still be outlier games, such as when other killers dodge teams and queue times prioritise chucking someone less experienced in as backfill, but that shouldn't be happening all the time. This is what one of the devs said regarding how MMR works in the game, if it helps!

This is legitimately and objectively one of the most balanced and healthy updates to the game.
Both Survivors and Killers have seen their most meta and most oppressive perks nerfed. Anyone who didn't rely on meta perks as a crutch realises this, but meta being meta, most were reliant on them.
- You have a massive portion of the playerbase who are 'killer mains' and are incredibly offended by how regression perks have been nerfed.
- You have a massive portion of the playerbase who are 'survivor mains' and are incredibly offended by how CoH and DH have been nerfed.
Any healthy level of introspection and personal reflection would reveal this for the fair trade off it is, but instead, we have the vast majority of players who are diametrically opposed and hate this update for two entirely conflicting reasons. Anyone who "genuinely thinks this game is in a bad spot" from this most recent update, is quite frankly, deluded. And if they think that their sudden displeasure at a healthy game update warrants a fresh 0 review to "stick it to BHVR" for simply improving their game, they're not just deluded, they're petty, asinine and pathetic.
Thank you for pointing out that both killers and survivors pull this sort of thing. There were people on this very forum encouraging others to bomb the steam reviews when BHVR first announced the Eruption nerf (which was also semi-reverted). Review bombing, when it does occur, is a weapon everyone in this community uses.
-
I can't see them giving people an option to bleed out faster. Those who slug for the 4k would be in an uproar over that.
-
I'm not playing atm but when I return I plan to use We'll Make It, SB or Lithe, Resilience, and Bond.
-
How do you distinguish between bombing and genuine feedback? Alot of recent changes and updates have been wildly unpopular.
-

Well according to nightlight kill rate is only 53%.
Nightlight stats aren't accurate. They're self reported and only a tiny percentage of the playerbase uses that. For example, people who don't speak English, or have it as a second language, are unlikely to use it.
-
Solo survivor of over 2 years and yes, this seems pretty par for the course. You just learn to accept it. Solo queue are basically the fodder to make up the kill rates.

The assumption was probably "playing this way is boring for the Killer player too, so no one will do it". Unfortunately that's not the case and some players find it fun enough to actually play that way.
Yup, someone on FB was complaining about people quitting their SM games and when people pointed out how long they're dragging for, that person said something like 'but some of us like long games? We should be able to play long games if we want.' Like yeah, sure, but others aren't chain-tied to your game and are free to leave if they don't want to play for 45 minutes lol
-
They're pretty common. If you use Distortion you'll pick up on it. They'll usually try and pass it off as BBQ and just make a beeline for a survivor after the hook. If Distortion doesn't lose a token, then check perks post-game if you cbf and they'll never even have an aura perk.
-
As someone who has no problem dying to make sure my team mates get out, I think this is fair enough. No one can pretend there would be anything fun about hanging on a hook all game. So I think your pov is valid.
-
It's because she currently has a Tome going. It's why i don't plan to play for a couple of weeks. My games this week will be random team mates doing survivor challenges and throwing the games, and killers doing SM challenges and her games are so miserable.
-
You can't have your cake and eat it too. Self healing took a nerf, so more players are playing injured. This means it's taking less hits to get them sacrificed. It's literally why tunnelling is so popular - easier to take down an injured person than a healthy one. Survivors know this too, so of course they are using gen progress perks, and why shouldnt they? Are they supposed to just twiddle their thumbs? Healing is no longer an efficient or easily accessible use of their time.

No one is claiming that medkits weren't overpowered, particularly in a coordinated team. However, solo queue games are rarely coordinated. Medkits and consistent self-healing made solo queue less unbearable since you didn't have to depend on your teammates. It's understandable why medkits were heavily nerfed. Unfortunately, solo survivors weren't given anything in return, such as a baseline empathy or empathic connection.
Solo queue players are impacted since they must now devote half of their build to an aura perk and a healing perk to counter these new healing changes. In contrast, SWF players receive all of this for free without having to sacrifice any of their meta perk slots (anti-tunneling perks, exhaustion perks, etc.).
I reckon BHVR should simply acknowledge that they are balancing the game around killers and SWF. They haven't explicitly stated so, but they haven't refuted it either.
"Solo queue players are impacted since they must now devote half of their build to an aura perk and a healing perk to counter these new healing changes. Yeah, as someone who shied away from meta perks and liked to change my builds often, this is what sucks. I feel like I'm forced to bring a healing perk - in my case, as a solo survivor, We'll Make It, because I can't guarantee the team mates I get will be able to play or do anything but hide if injured. I'll also bring Bond often too, if I find it too difficult to track down a heal for myself. I feel like my build is going to stay pretty consistent now, which is disappointing.
-
Possibly backfill? More experienced killers may have been matched up with them initially but kept dodging after seeing all the P100s. So the game starts to prioritise queue time and throws whoever in to deal with them.

What make you think that people can't do healing and Gen rush in the same time?
The cost from healing is still low, and with the gen regression nerf, it is even more easy to rush now.
They *can* do both but they're coming prepared for the possibility that they can't. Rather than risk playing a long game injured they're preparing to play a short game injured.
The thing is, people were saying this would happen before the update went live. Lots of us saw it coming. Yet another thing BHVR possibly did not consider. The popularity of Self Care, even after its 6.1 nerf, and high medkit usage showed that alot of survivors aren't confident playing injured. I imagine this would be especially true for newer players.
