  • There was a bug a while ago with Spirit making it so that you could still hear the phasing sound even in chase. I believe they fixed it but they really should just unfix it again lmao.

  • They need to fix mories and I believe I saw Peanits actually say that both keys and mories are on their radar. When they fix them, they should actually fix them and not introduce some perks that can counter them. I don’t feel like being forced to run a perk just because there’s some broken things in the game.

I think people take this game far too seriously. I’m not entirely sure how pixels can bully anybody? A character model crouching up and down shouldn’t get under people’s skin as much as it does.

This is actually quite interesting. If put up my middle finger for example a lot of people would be mad too and you could ask the same question again: why the hell would people be mad over a finger? Why so serious? People get agitated over this because of the meaning the general public and the community has given it. When you flip someone off in a car the other person knows you are disrespecting him and just like that has the dbd community given tbagging or “moving pixels” as you put it another meaning. It’s the perception of the community that’s important here.

This idea of it being offensive only gets enforced when you look at popular content creators like old No0b3 and Ochido that did this a lot too for this exact same reason: to show the nooby killer they just got played.

If you don’t get offended by it then what can I say? That’s great for you and you’re probably living a healthy and stressless dbd life lmao. But yeah that’s why most people dislike this behaviour.

Sorry if I actually took this too far. I’m studying Sociology and I enjoy using the stuff I learn for actual “problems”. With that said, this is just my take on it. It’s not like this is 100% the correct answer.

  • Pretty sure the devs themselves already pointed out that these stats aren’t exactly useful and trustworthy stats. So many things aren’t taken into consideration with these stats:

Suicides on hook (DC penalty wasn’t a thing), AFK people, matchmaking, ... . These things are all included in those stats and when that’s the case you can’t make a proper statement about the kill rates.

To get back to your point, I think a lot of killers feel like they need the 4k to win because that’s how the game is actually set up. The game doesn’t end in a victory when the killer gets 2 kills. It continues until either they’re all dead or people escaped. Furthermore high ranking killers actually get punished for only getting a 2k and depip.

  • Surge isn’t bad but the cooldown on it is just not necessary for the effect it actually has or the impact it has on the game.

How do you counter a projectile that can shoot in less than a second and a sword that can be canceled in less than a second and m1'd?

By being unpredictable with your movement as well as predicting when they will shoot. Granted, I hate going against Deathslinger as well because I find him hard to counter too. Usually I just sit at gens and genrush them as they’re slow and not amazing at protecting gens.

  • Demo’s power is pretty much fine as is. They could make rat liver base kit and maybe make his cooldown for teleporting a bit faster. He’s in desperate need of an add on rework though. They’re all so bad... His perks could use some love too

  • Praise the DBD gods for FarmerJohns meme content and Otz’ fat brain. Those are the ones I really enjoy. No0b is a pretty fun content creator as well.

Sorry, looking for an actual answer instead a mad killer who can't apply gen pressure :)

You actually answered your own question by replying like this.

”Apply gen pressure” or in other words: get good

By relying on 2nd chance perks for example, the killer could make the same argument. And just like you just did about NOED sometimes killers leave a complaining or criticizing remark.

The survivors’ strong perks and the killers’ strong perks are practically the a different side of the same coin because they’re usually 2nd chance perks. And more often than not, you don’t have to work for your 2nd chance hence why some people get frustrated. Imo every single 2nd chance perk should have some form of drawback in the sense you would need to work for it, especially because they’re so strong.

  • For a small change to a killer they thought was performing perfectly, it does feel like they may have overdone it.

And literally, the EXACT same thing could be said about

    1. NOED, you do nothing. Free insta-downs by just eating a burrito from your desk.
    2. BBQ, you said it yourself "You just equip them and just do everything as normally as you always would, no change.
    3. Sloppy Butche, same as above, just strap it on and play normally.
    4. Dying Light, same as above, strap it on and play normally.
    5. Infectious Fright, no cooldown, great slugging potential.
    6. Nurse's Calling? Same exact thing, just strap it on and play normally for Aura Reading buffs.
    7. Pop? Same, strap it on and play normally.
    8. Coulrophobia? Same exact thing, strap it on and play normally.

You literally said, survivor perks have no way to activate, they're just automatically activated and you named 2.

I named you a crap ton that do the same, exact thing. Just strap them on, and play normally for added buffs.

I'm not defending survivors, I'm a killer main, but your post stenches of killer bias, fake, false sense of oppression.

    Calm down.

I mean I hear what you’re saying. Killers don’t necessarily have to go out of their way to get value out of their perks, but these aren’t exactly 2nd chance perks that you named that can shift the outcome of the game. Most of the perk you named are actually perks that grant you something for playing well. They’re the opposites of 2nd chances in a way. Hell if you do see them as 2nd chances then you can’t argue that the killer hasn’t worked for it like for example unbreakable.

Noed is the only exception to this but even then Noed has somewhat of a drawback linked to it in the sense that survivors can get rid of your 2nd chance perk.

  • I’ve always found it weird how big the skill difference was between completing your objective as a killer and as a survivor. Whereas a killer needs to outplay actual people, the survivors just need to hold m1 and occasionally hit spacebar. It’s something the devs should look into imo, but they’re already monitoring gen speed so it’s not like they’re not trying.

They should also look into some 2nd chance perks and make it so survivors meet certain requirements before these perks can be used or rework these perks in another way so skill is actually necessary when using it. I saw this suggestion for BT for example where BT would actually transfer the hit to the rescuer rather than blocking it.

To be fair though, they have done this in the past with MoM for example. I think it’s just a matter of time and urgency before 2nd chance perks get more downsides to them and require more skill.

  • If I remember correctly, the only reason Doc was considered bad during the PTB was because of the cooldown they put on his swing after you shocked them. This was something that was pointed out before too, just like people are pointing out how the Billy changes might be too much.

They changed this after the PTB.

  • This way the perk would still provide the survivor a lot of information (the killers position but only when the survivors aura is shown and which aura reading perks the killer is using), but it wouldn't be insane. I don't think it would be so much stronger in the hands of SWF either as they don't get to choose when they want to see the killers aura. Obviously they would realize a lot faster which aura reading perks the killer possesess but it's not like they couldn't figure that out before.

Such a great and balanced idea in my opinion.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1398931#Comment_1398931

MAP is just garbage. That perk is fine on most other maps, especially for solo survivors.

I'd argue that the knowledge of the killers position is extremely strong and probably broken, no matter the map. As pointed out above you will always know when the killer is coming which allows you to get to a strong spot where the killer will always have to waste a lot of time before they can actually down you. Not to mention the fact it's more broken when used by SWF as now every single survivor will know your position rather than just one.

Either way, I wouldn't go so far and claim the devs don't care about any of this. I'm sure it's on their radar and they nerfed it in the past. The undetectable status for example now counters the aura reading part of OoO. The perk just needs a rework in my opinion because the fact you can read the aura of the killer at any time is just not a great idea.

borrowed time is only op for tuneling or camping killers

Or for killers that aren’t stupid and see a survivor running to a hook... or when survivors straight up hook bombs... Or to get a free escape in the endgame... but yeah let’s just forget those instances.

Either way I’m not entirely sure how you can nerf BT so that it would only affect the braindead facecampers. I do understand that having an option to combat actual campers is somewhat necessary when keeping game balance and the survivors fun in mind so I’m split on the idea.

    @Blueberry said:

Instead of just blocking the hit, it should transfer the hit to the rescuer.

This preserves its purpose of preventing someone from getting tunneled off the hook while also having a cost and asking for a skillful play from the rescuer.

It's currently zero cost, with a game swinging effect, that asks nothing of the survivor.

    ^

This is actually by far one of the best suggestions I’ve seen regarding the issue. Unlike other second chance perks like Deliverance or Blood Warden you don’t have to earn it, but you would still need to be skillful when using the perk. The 2nd chance isn’t something that’s just given without risk and requires actual skill. In the meantime the recently unhooked person still gets protected. I like that.

  • Looks more like an everyday ritual to me.

  • Couldn’t come up with an original name

  • Some people care about lore, some people don’t and just play the game. This change just gives the people that do care more lore. @SenzuDuck sums it up perfectly in my opinion:

    @Seanzu said:

It takes nothing away from the game but gives people something else to connect to, maybe a Trans person, or a Gay person, or a Lesbian person has nothing to connect to, they're sometimes outcasted from major communities, or find it hard to connec to something, so finally having a definite "this person is gay/pans/trans/bi" is something to connect with, and if something added to a game can make someone smile and feel apart of this community, then I'm all for it.

  • Yes weaker perks should be buffed to shake the meta. No you shouldn't ignore the other stronger perks that could qualify as too strong just for the sake of shaking up the meta.

  • The strength of Legion is that they can spread their pressure and injure multiple people with ease. Taking this away from them isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However you need to be confident enough to be in a chase without Dead Hard and actually not go down in a matter of seconds because then it’s not going to help you or your team at all.

  • I agree that the killer wasn’t as strong as some people made him out to be and that the torment effect is actually pretty hard to pull of in a map that isn’t indoors but maybe they changed something about his kit. No point in deciding whether or not to buy it atm when we’re unsure of the changes.

Feel like aura reading perks like nurses calling or I'm all ears would work really well on him for this exact reason...so he knows where exactly he has to aim on the other side of a wall.

I don’t think Nurses would be too useful as people would just stop healing when you get closer anyways. I’m all ears can be good but that only works every so 40 seconds and if they jump through a window. I think you can hear him putting his blade in the ground too so I can already imagine that red rank survivors would just hold W once they hear that.

What? How would you even get that out of it? The issue is that he is fully unloopable on all current maps. If you're injured, he can damage you regardless if he truly caught up with you, as long as he aims in the right direction.

You can literally see the outline of the ranged attack and have enough time to run out of the way...

  • I haven't played against him personally but I have played as him and I don't think it's too hard to actually dodge his power; the animation feels pretty slow and if you miss you get punished pretty hard too. I can't really help but compare him with Demo who in my opinion has everything this guy has but better. You won't be able to hit people through stuff with Demo but I find it a lot easier catching people at loops with his shred ability as people can't seem to dodge it as easy. Besides, the fact he can hit through walls is something that sounds pretty good on paper at first but is it really though? It's not like Pyramidhead knows where you are on the other side of that wall so he's going to need to be pretty good at predicting where you are to actually land that hit, especially if the animation really is slow. Pyramidhead may not need to carry people to hooks when played right but it comes at the cost of losing pop, which arguably is one of the perks run the most by killers atm. While in the meantime, Demogorgon not only makes up for the lost time by using his portals correctly, he also gets to keep his pop.

I haven't played against him though so maybe I'll end up finding his power too hard to dodge swaying my opinion on him. The PTB also just released so it's not like I've mastered him too.

  • I can see Soul Guard being pretty good and being an absolute pain for killers like Legion that actually want to benefit from their injures. Haven't tried it yet though. The others really aren't great perks, I think.

A slugged survivor is as useless as one on the hook.

Someone has to come pick them up and you can camp the body if you so choose to, they're not invincible.

My God, I deal with players like these every day and I don't find an issue with it.

Can’t slug a survivor when they jump in a locker.

Can’t really slug a survivor either when you’re at the last gen and you know it’s gonna pop soon.

Can’t slug them when you’re in the endgame.

Can’t slug them when you’re facing one of those SWF and you know one of them probably has unbreakable.

I’m not going to slug a survivor either when I don’t expect the timer to be still up. For example when I chased the unhooker, put them on a hook and then find this other guy...

While slugging indeed makes that survivor useless, the fact remains it could have been a hook. In the end it’s hooking that brings the killer closer to their objective unless you’re actually running a slugging build.

"DS isn’t fine. If you have to let a survivor go because they jump in a locker then it’s stupid and broken. The only counter to it is to leave them and any survivor with a brain is going to do a gen after you left them."

Why are you targeting THIS survivor?

Typically there are 4 survivors that spawn in 1 match, so there are 3 other survivors out there buddy. A GOOD killer typically targets the unhooker, the survivor isn't forcing you to open that locker. NO ONE forces you to open that locker OR target this survivor.

    That's YOUR mistake.

You’re not getting the point of what I’m saying. DS allows to be completely safe when doing gens or anything else really. If they sit on a gen and make it to a locker, I’m just supposed to let them go, even though they’re just going to be sitting at that very same gen seconds later.

Sometimes when you return to the hook and this survivor is the only one you see, what are you supposed to do? Let them go?

Hell sometimes you just find them again later after hooking the unhooker and still get punished for it.

  • DS isn’t fine. If you have to let a survivor go because they jump in a locker then it’s stupid and broken. The only counter to it is to leave them and any survivor with a brain is going to do a gen after you left them.

The idea alone that a survivor feels safe doing a gen in the killers face because they got an invincibility perk is imo wrong. They got arrogant and made a mistake but the killer can’t punish them for it because they got a full minute of invincibility.

We’re talking about a full minute here, that’s about 1/10 of the game (average). DS is also a perk you can use after each unhook until you actually use it. Imagine having 4 survivors with DS which really isn’t even stretching reality atm and you’re a decent killer that over the course of the game hooks multiple survivors several times. This means that the killer will constantly need to play around DS and there’s almost always going to be one survivor with 60 seconds of invincibility. As a killer you’re literally getting punished for performing well. How can this possibly fall under the definition of healthy gameplay.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

This isnt really about mettle of man its about how op swf is

True but also how easily MoM can be abused with a bit of coordination. I haven’t had it happen to me but I can imagine it being extremely frustrating.

  • In my opinion, all 2nd chance perks should ideally be perks that can only be activated when certain conditions are met like Deliverance, MOM and Blood Warden. I think Noed should have such conditions, but that also means that 2nd chance perks on the survivors side should have certain requirements as well depending on how impactful the perk can be.

  • Just because something got done about god loops and maps, suddenly all the other reasons killers are complaining aren’t gone...

If something were to be done about Freddy for example, the fact mories are braindead hasn’t changed?

Where is the logic behind this...

  • But.... most of the maps weren’t reduced in size. Only the biggest ones and they’re normalized meaning they’re about the same size as the others...

Devs said they were working on deadzones tho.

  • Tunneling isn’t a real problem, the survivors playstyle is.

Going down a path like this and blaming the other side for things they hardly have any control over is dangerous.

As a killer you don’t get to choose whether or not survivors sit on gens. If it’s all they do, then there’s nothing you can do especially since it’s a 4v1. You chase one guy and 3 others will be free to do anything they like. Completing a gen is only 80 seconds of holding m1 and that time is reduced with perks, multiple people on gens and toolboxes. Even if you break the chase at like 30 seconds, or end a chase in 30 seconds which is pretty average for survivor, by the time you get to the gens that are being worked on they’re most likely halfway done. That’s if those people sit on separate gens tho, but that’s what the term “gen rushing” pretty much refers to.

That said, all the things you pointed out could be potential factors of why people get gen rushed (except for kicking gens, like you waste so many time running around and kicking gens but you don’t have any pressure at that time). But just because there are factors that could lead to being gens rushed, it doesn’t rule out the fact there actually could be a problem.

Tbf it really is just doing your objective efficiently... but couldn’t you say tunneling is doing the killers objective efficiently? Killing the survivors is their objective in the end.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

I've never felt frustrated or pressured by the fact that one survivor runs a key or finds one in a match. Keys have a lot of counter-play. Franklins, killing the survivor, patrolling hatch.

    What counter do Moris have?

Patrolling the hatch isn’t counterplay and neither is killing the survivor as the key isn’t going anywhere unless they’re using a specific addon. Besides the only way that makes sure you kill this survivor in time before the key can be used is either tunneling or camping which is pretty damn dull counterplay if you ask me. Not to mention that you’re already throwing the game at this point.

Franklins is honestly a joke. I’m sorry but the sound notification as well as the sign popping up at the bottom makes it really easy to realize you dropped your key. Maybe it’s going to be a problem if you have no clue what the maps look like but it’s going to do nothing to someone with experience and that knows their maps.

I suppose some would argue being immersed or being good at looping would be a counter to mories. I don’t think it’d be enough of a counter if it’s even considered one though.

Either way, if you got no problems with keys when playing killer then that’s great for you. I’m just saying that there are those that disagree with you hence why it’s being compared with mories.

  • You just pointed out all the differences...

People are comparing the 2 because of what they have in common (such as little counterplay, a lot of frustration when you’re facing either etc), not because of how they differ.

  • @Ivaldi said:

It's intended and needs to be fixed.. People that say "Well the killer can just camp the hook and down you again" don't realize that you can get half way across a map using Deliverance, D-Strike, Lithe/Sprint Burst and many times have allowed me to escape matches simply by telling my SWF partner to sit at the exit gate and wait for me to hop off.

True, you could be carried to the open gate or the hatch by exhaustion perks and DS etc. Is this healthy for the game though? I'm not sure about that and a face camping killer really isn't going to stop any of that. All they're going to do is smack you back down on the ground and slug you in case you have DS making the game longer than it needs to be. Either way, you've got an other unhealthy mechanic in the game, leaving either side with frustration.

  • @Shocktober said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/146612/can-all-totems-be-hidden-like-this

Yes, make every totem impossible to find without running dedicated totem hunting builds which allow the killer to freely camp and tunnel you.

Tbh, it really wouldn’t be impossible once you get to know the new totem spots. The only difference it would make for more experienced survivors is that they actually need to look more closely rather than just running and stumbling into them.

The newer survivors could struggle but there are so many ways to find totems now so I really don’t think it would be that big of a deal if they were to make changes to totem spots.

  • You could also just report this player and do something else in the meantime. It’s annoying that this happens, but I think giving the survivor the ability to choose when they die is just going to cause more problems.

  • Disable crouching for survivors please. I always DC when I see a survivor crouching.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

You got DC'd on one time and suddenly the penalty hasn't made any difference? LOL right.

Maybe don't slug to 4k and they won't DC for hatch. 🤷

You could also go the other way and just say that the hatch should be removed so slugging for the 4k isn't a thing anymore.

Tbh with the DC penalty, I don't find it too big of a deal anymore. Yes DC'ing for the hatch is actually a stupid mechanic, but at least they get somewhat punished for it now. I'm not sure what else they can do either without it causing other problems.

It would be way too overpowered.

Pop on some Infectious Fright, BBQ, Enduring+Spirit Fury and call it a day.

In all honesty... would it be op though? No one cleansed against Plague which means you were insta down and it’s not like you couldn’t stealth either. Personally I don’t recall it being too hard when I faced her and it’s not like people complained a lot about her even though she was 115%.

It’s an incredibly plain power though...

  • The reason they’re only reskins is because the devs want us to choose the survivors for their lore and aesthetic rather than for potential abilities. I can get behind this, I’m a Steve main because I like his character in Stranger Things and I like his cosmetics, but if he were to be given a terrible ability then I would be “forced” to play someone else in a similar way some red rank killers feel forced to play a specific few killers because the others can’t compete.

  • This rift was probably already in development when the survey went live. Hell, even if it wasn't, give them some time to actually properly implement those ideas from the survey.

  • Even with her rework she's still one of the strongest killers out there. She's in a bit of a weird spot though because she's got a high skill cap, even more so after her rework, so I don't think they should just straight up nerf her.

  • His gaming chair was clearly better than yours.

  • Quentins face is a meme, please don't take my goblin from me :(

  • If you're as good as you say you are, and the majority of killers here is complaining and saying that they aren't, maybe you really are just an outlier and really good. This just goes to show that if you master either side of the game, you can perform extremely well which is just common sense. Doesn't mean the devs need to balance the game around how well you play though, but around how well the majority plays. Either way, matchmaking definitely needs fixing.

Not always free though, we still have a perk called borrowed time :)

Also ds needs a nerf anyway.

While DS might need a nerf, it would need it because of the 60 seconds of invulnerability and because survivors know they are invulnerable they get cocky and careless, completely stopping the killers momentum and sometimes screwing over teammates. It should ALWAYS remain an anti tunnel perk imo so being moriable after your 2nd hook would be an unnecessary nerf to DS.
