Yeah right

The Killer Rule Book, by Survivors?

That feeling when you take hits for a teammate but they're not even trying.

Does anyone disagree that at the very least the main game should have social features like mobile? In that game you can post in LFG and send messages to anyone. I'm on console and it's not even possible to see or use post-game chat. It's not even possible to send messages to friends in game. Console literally has zero social accessibility.
You're not missing anything.

Well if Otz says so....

If the killer is entitled to a free kill just because their power allows them to facecamp? Why is the survivor not instantly killed? Why are they forced to wait out 2 hook stages or kill themselves?
If the other 3 leave you die instantly if in 2nd stage. Blame your teammates for sticking around to teabag the killer.

Sounds like a NA west problem.

Hopefully both. Killers get passive gen slowdown and survivors get a tactical choice. A lot of games are too fast paced and gen regression and blocking is fun for the Killer but not for the survivors since they can't do anything to counter it or stop it.
If Killers get slower games because of a secondary objective that's helpful and fun for Killers and survivors getting to do something as well is a lot more fun for survivors than just waiting for a gen to unblock or redoing the exact same gen progress you already did because of a gen regression perk.
If you play Killer would you not like something to slow down the game so the gens don't fly super fast? If you play survivor would you rather sit and watch a blocked gen and/or redo what you just did or would you rather actively do something to make the Killer weaker in the endgame?
Breaking totems isn't fun. If that were true, nobody would mind the old Ruin or current NOED.
Survivor are not forced to break all totems, just know where they are. Breaking NOED when it pops is more efficient than wasting time finding and breaking all five.

Fun for who?

The actual post says they have transphobic slurs and ######### in their profiles and as their names.
It gets kinda obvious why people do it.
Yes, but there are remedies outside of removing or changing skins. If they are so bold to say slurs then they can be ban. If they do that on a Steam profile then they can lose that account.
You could say, we are removing the tools. But are you? They are still able to play and tunnel every game. Only thing you changed was denying non-pieces of ######### the ability to enjoy their purchase.
-
If they did that the spaghetti code would quantum entangle into a prenzel triggering the universe to collapse into itself causing the 2nd big bang and for billions of years we return to this time where they decide to nerf the pig again.

Think they will buff it.

I'm missing what's so obvious about it, I see Killers tunneling and camping almost every other match, it's just an expected thing to happen at this point.
But again, if an Unknown with the cheerleader outfit tunnels someone with a pride flag but doesn't say anything transphobic in the post-game chat, how do you know they were being transphobic? Just because they tunneled? And should they get banned for that?
Now, what if you're using the cheerleader skin and the four survivors are a SWF of trans gamers who are streaming and are clearly trans? Should the Unknown be scared of tunneling because they could get flagged as transphobic?
My point is, the Unknown cosmetics are really cool, so a lot of people will use them. But calling someone transphobic for tunneling with them without them showing clear signs of transphobia is uncalled for. Let's just stick to banning people who actually display transphobic behaviour.
I run the Cheerleader outfit because I had enough shards to buy it and it looks really creepy. Sometimes I switch the head or weapon just to change the look a bit. I'm just finding out that I could've been called transphobic without even knowing if one of the survivors I killed/mori'd happened to be trans (which again, it's almost impossible to tell by charms alone because they're extremely small).
While I agree what you stated, the OP was messaged after the match. The action of tunneling and camping within itself should not be used as the standard, as you stated.
Now, the post after the match and on their profile is that line being crossed and OP should of reported it not only to BHVR but Steam as well.
The issue with this kind of topic is it will be used later to justify action that benefits no one in the end.

I do. Caricature is creating a image of someone using exaggerated features that are seen as comical and grotesque.
Example:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YS8EPB7CQ903/screenshot-2024-03-14-134201.png
That image has grotesque features of a human male head with a human body wearing feminine clothing.
The person who did the female voice lines is a trans woman and she said if she knew it could be used the way that it has been used by some players, she would have never taken the job. Just because this doesn't affect you or your way of life, doesn't mean it doesn't affect others.
I mean, this is kind of horror. I can think of some monsters who trick victims by using different voices. Male, female, boys, girls. Dress in ways to fool victims into coming closer, etc. I do not believe BHVR has any nefarious intent here. This may be a product of the time we live in.
I do see the Trans angle some are saying but that might of been a mistake to make. I know that there's a lot of people that want that to happen but it being a killer puts it in a negative light from the outright. If anything, survivor characters would be the focus.
The killers in this game are in the of the day monsters. Human or not so.
It's unfortunately the voice actress said that because now it will be used to destroy the work even though the work isn't the problem.
-
Since this game is global I cannot expect everyone to understand. But freedom of expression exists here. Doesn't mean you cannot be upset about it or think its wrong. I'm sure the example you give would be hurtful to those deplicted. But it comes both ways but I don't want to bring politics into a game forum.
To your point, on the Internet you can find every opinion ever thought about in one form or another. Extremes from any line of thought. Whither something exists or not is dependent on how much time you want to spend looking into the abyss.
-
@jayoshi I'll avoid the direct reply because mods may edit out the links.
Those look like political cartoons which historically look over exaggerated regardless of the subject matter. Like George Bush with a dimwit face or Obama with big ears. The style is very old school back of the newspaper type.
-
Always best to get ahead of something like this before decisions are made in haste.
-
Maybe after they buff Pig.
-
I understand your point you are making. Hateful people will be hateful. A cosmetic doesn't change that type of person's behavor. Nor does removing it.

Can’t find a good picture of it but have seen it being used then.
well the fact that it was licensed and removed because both parties agreed to it after it was used as a tool for racism should already be enough to distinguish both topics. And even then Bubba also has the other outfits that haven’t been removed
Unknown is original, and therefor more comparable to pride charms - which people also tried to get removed because of harrassement accusations etc.
The license owner did get involved but remember it took years for it to get to that point. You can go back to the old Steam forums and find post about it. All it will take is some activist to pick this up and start a campaign against BHVR. At that point it's a direct comparison.
The fact Unknown is original makes it easier for BHVR to act hastily. They don't have to worry about contract violation or upsetting the license holder.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Bubba blackface was literally blackface due to a texture bug and it was a licensed cosmetic making it harder to deal with for BHVR
I was told that at the time too. But looking into it prior to the faces being removed, I didn't see any difference between Claud's face and the others. Bubba's eyes were the same color and tone across the board.

Mouse polling rate? That's up to you and PC/mouse specs.
Polling that high does eat up resources outside the scope of the game.

Well, it would be way better to show how many unhooks and gens they did in the last 10 matches, how often they died on first hook and how often they escaped through the hatch. If this info is given, then you can take the perks into context.
Punish those that get tunneled and camp more. 😉
-
Gen blocking to me is more annoying.

Old ruin was pretty badly designed tho and only worked against people who couldnt hit great skill checks. Those who could barely got affected
True, but that same type of player shouldn't have issues with today's meta. The general survivor player would struggle with Ruin depending on RNG and would venture to break the totem.
-
It's not all rainbows and sunshine.
Having a bad connection still affects the overall game play. Some players are not near a server and would have a better time playing with those near them.
Later on years from now, the servers will be turned off killing the ability to play. I've heard about custom servers but that's a bit extreme compared to a native P2P.

Hypothetically, if the license holders want to avoid controversy they’d pull the character from DBD entirely. Most especially since this would be the second time their character has been involved in a bigotry scandal.
If BHVR can’t handle issues of bullying in house I don’t see TCM letting another Bubba-used-as-a-tool-of-bigotry controversy fester. But as I’d mention earlier people could also use Charlotte and Huntress to harass transwomen.
Bullies could use any feminine character that doesn’t ’pass’ as a cis woman as a catalyst to harass transwomen. And even without those features they can still harass transwomen in other ways. I’m not on board with removing characters or skins because people abuse them. I mentioned earlier that people still harass players for queuing in as Black survivors. I would never support removing Black characters from the game because they’re more likely to be targets of racist cyberbullying. Would you?
I wouldn't and agree with you.
(Except about Charlotte and Huntress part, but that's just me.)
BHVR should deal with the issue appropriately and not as a cop-out like last time. They should also realize that mistake and remedy it now.
-
Just so you know, this will cause many survivors to dodge lobbies.
-
They had a whole game mode that made a scary game. The problem is everyone that played it wasn't new to the game. Once something is known and understood it becomes less frightening.
-
If you're advocating for a SWF notification in the pre-match lobby, I would be against it as well.
-
Thinking about the new perk, it would be an interesting challenge for a SWF to repair all seven gens to 90-99% and pop them all from the basement. Idk if the perk works that way and you would have to keep up with the gen kicks. But an interesting thought.

They removed all the survivor faces from Bubba, right? Including Meg and Dwight? I get the feeling it came from the license holder—who probably said no unlicensed cosmetics for the character anymore (beyond prestige)—rather than solely BHVR. Because IIRC the creators of Bubba at some point stated they deliberately avoided having him skin any Black people on camera for a very specific reason. And now that I think about it, people could also use the ‘pretty woman’ and ‘old lady’ Bubba skins to harass trans people as well.
And now that I think about it, people could also use the ‘pretty woman’ and ‘old lady’ Bubba skins to harass trans people as well.
Exactly right, this rabbit hole runs deep. If the license holder gets wind of this will that justify these being removed as well?

Oni swings further than a standard carry swing. It's about the same as a full lunge I think.

Breaking a consistency that should never have been is better than making the same mistake again, imho.
But the important thing is that they shouldn't be removed.
If I believe they would keep with the correct action in the future I would be more receptive.

Making the same mistake twice just makes the situation worse.
There is no excuse for racism or transphobia, but the cosmetics are not to blame. People choose to be awful, and BHVR should deal with them, not remove the cosmetic.
They should make it right this time.
First, I agree with you and they should not be removed.
But, to make things right would to bring back the cosmetics wrongfully removed and punish the individuals that harass others instead. Either they reverse what happened last time or be consistent and remove the offending cosmetics.
Being inconsistent in treating the same issue is in my opinion a worse outcome.
-
This needs to be explained a bit better. What is the bug exactly? Does swinging cause the wiggle timer to pause when not hitting a survivor? Does the Oni swing further than a standard carry swing?
