I don't really understand this argument, then people will whinge and cry about SWF. It's essentially a solo-queue curb stomper, yet does nothing for SWF. It just pushes people to go play SWF, but if that's the end-result of Knock Out being used -- killers have no right to complain when it's completely countered by a 3-4 man SWF.
If you want to take it in that direction. If killers believe most of their matches are against SWFs, then why do they bring a solo stomping perk? Be a waste of a perk slot if you ask me.
If this was really an issue and not the next forum complaint of the week, Empathy or Bond would show an uptick in usage to fully counter it. Maybe time to swap out WoO?

How much of the go next epidemic involves Killers or Swf? Or is it just because of the poor state of solo...? Either way I'm not condoning this but I'm just curious 🤔
Its more of the players looking for the Goldilocks of lobbies. Unless they are dominating the match it is useless so they go on to the next. Never finding their ideal but ruining the game for many.
-
If knockout wasn't useful you wouldn't be complaining about it.
The perk is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Make it harder for other survivors to find you. Not only this perk but there are many ways to inflict blindness on survivors. Once your upset cries for nerfs are answered killers will start using blind builds. Just like they started using slug builds by taking away slow down.

Unless it's endgame at which point they'll open gates and leave xD
If bots got you to end game then they did better than most randoms.

That's two teammates that won't give up on you.
-
So console killers are not at an advantage? But you play killer on console and is easy.
Is this about cheaters or killer OP?
-
If you have to ask then you never faced one.
-
I wonder why?
-
- Killer doesn't have a hitbox after dropping a survivor. They can't put you in a corner unless you do nothing.
- holding another player like this is banable and you should of reported it.

This shouldn’t be reportable because it’s something that the devs could very easily fix, but they refuse to. All they need to do is put in a a mechanic that will reveal survivors to killer if they go too long without interacting with the killer or touching a gen. It’s ridiculous that the devs are putting the burden on players to report something that is very difficult to prove with video evidence in many cases.
I thought that was fixed some time ago.
-
Unrelenting is for when you miss. Sounds like you are on target.
-
At some point the bug count will overflow and become stable.
-
More people are playing at the start of a tome.
More people mean greater chance at getting similar survivors.
-
Arms race is there for any popular online game. EAC IDs one program two others pop up.
-
You were allowed to camp?
-
What happened to survivor? Survivors.
They give up too easy and complain about the dumbest things. Like wiggling.
The survivors you used to play with. They're gone. Replaced with a new set of survivors that know nothing about the game but everything is the killers fault.
-
But, there's a lot of loud noises in DBD. From gen popping, killer's power, terror radius, boon totems, hex totem breaks, exposed notification, and the list goes on.

Following Patch 6.1.0, I made a post about how "Survivors were intentionally playing poorly or giving up to inflate Killrates and get Killers nerfed" because I thought it would be funny and… uh… people just kind of took it and ran with it. It kind of blew up enough to go beyond the Forums and I even saw it on Twitter (screenshots of my post).
Anytime I see a post where someone posts something like that, I get this awful feeling in my gut, it's like I unleashed a plague of locusts upon the DBD community. </3
You're not wrong though. Survivors that give up on first hook are essentially doing just that.
-
There are two AI levels. One that replaces a player when they DC and a more sophisticated AI that takes a survivor slot in a lobby. Because DC bots are so dumb no one would suspect these lobby players being bots.

Yet he will become enemy #1 until bhvr nerfs him again. Just like every other time they tried to change him.

Not on my screen, at rank 1 iri when looking at the post match scores there is no pip indicator. Usually there would be 2 pips along the line but I don't have anything.... just a long line with no pips. Always happens when I get to rank 1 iri
Maybe the UI has changed but I can verify several months ago the emblem bar still showed pips. Yes, the grade 1 icon does not have pips but I believed the bar does but I could be wrong. It will take me a bit to grind to grade 1 to check.
-
Being in a SWF doesn't make you a good player. You are just more likely to find good players playing together in a SWF.
It was true 9 yeats ago as it is today. The only way to nerf SWF is to kill the game. By that I mean, any changes to SWF will remove any value in playing for the majority of the playerbase.
Now you can make claims like buff solo survivor but that would be foolish. It is not possible to have 4 strangers play like 4 irl friends. It just degrades into shouting matches.

How does one "win" if they can no longer pip up if pips are the determined factor for a win? Rank 1 iri is the max.
You still pip even at grade 1. It is your grade that doesn't increase.
-
To add to my post.
MMR is just a means to grant a fair match. To increase or lower your MMR is just to adjust matchmaking so matches are not lopsided. Raising your MMR is not a win. At some point your opponents will not yield positive MMR score even if you kill all 4 or escape. When your MMR gets too high it becomes increasingly harder to gain. Does that mean you are doom to lose?
Kill and escape are ways to conclude the match. They are the only legit way in doing so. The game loop end once all survivors are dead or escape. Thus bringing an end to the match. How you performed during that match is what matters. You can kill all 4 in seconds but that is not valid from the game's persective. At least not today. You can hide all game and jump in the hatch but that too doesn't make you the victor.
I believe what brings confusion for most is that the "win" condition has changed a few times in dbd's lifecycle. Remember, a pip determines the condition. But what is a pip? At first, it was bloodpoints. Not kills nor escapes, simply how much bp did you earn that match. It's been awhile but I believe anything under 7k was a depip and above 10k was a pip. (Don't hold me to that.)
Then for killers the Victory Cube changed the condition for pips to (basically) hooks states. You must get 9 hooks states to pip. You can see why killers got in the mindset for kills equals wins.
Now with the Emblem system the win condition is based on how well you played your roll. In the lower ranks/grades it is possible to pip without escaping or killing any survivors. It is only when you move up in rank/grades do the condtions for winning (pip) become harder. By gold you cannot easily win (pip) without killing at least one survivor. For survivors, escaping cannot be the only goal and you must go for saves, get in chases, and interact more with other players. By the time you get to Iri you must perform exceptional to meet the winning condition (pip).
-
Players will deny this until the cold death of dbd but the win condition has been and still is a pip.
Kills? Nope
Survive? Nope
If you gain a pip you win regardless of the overall outcome. Yes, the killer and survivor both winning the same match can be true. Players find this to be too simple and try to make it more complex.
Anything less than a 4k is a loss. I lose if I don't complete all the gens and escape. This leads to insecurities among the playerbase. Slug for the 4k. Rage over not getting hatch. All because people cannot accept something so simple.
-
Loop, sure. Confused? What was confusing about old DBD? If you mean frustrating then I can see that with infinites and fast vaults.
-
There is MMR. The thing about SBMM, if working, every match should be a challenge to the players selected. Nothing is perfect and bhvr definitely is not.
How I know there's MMR? Because I have killers at both ends of scale and it's a night and day difference.

I noticed some people are saying this is a problem too and definitely considered tunneling. There are some subtleties here though.
If you go to look for another survivor, spend time and effort to track someone down, and find the last person you hooked long after they've been off-hook, probably got healed, I'd say it's not necessarily tunneling to hook them again.
Having said that, if it's early in the match and you specifically break chase or focus intentionally only on that one person, that's tunneling, even if it wasn't straight off-hook.
Personally, if I down someone I just hooked or who's having a bad match, and it's still early in the game, I'll leave them slugged. That gives me the pressure of having them off of gens, pulls someone off to go heal them, and lets me chase someone else in the meantime, all while that one person doesn't get another hook state and gets to stay on the game. If it's late game, I don't mind so much from the survivor or killer perspective.
I leave them slugged as well but now we are in the "killer slugging" complaint thread territory.

To answer your question, not at all. If the unhooked survivor tries to bodyblock he's provoking the killer to go after them again. The same thing if the unhooker hides by not taking chase. What I'm talking about is the killer going after that unhooked survivor even if other survivors try to bodyblock/the unhooked survivor starts prerunning away and not healing under the hook. It is a problem in chaos shuffle because the survivor has no anti tunneling perks
Thanks, that view does align more with mine..
I had to ask because I've seen survivors complain about tunneling even after two other survivors are hooked.

You know you could just say I'm making that list up instead of this
I'm not saying that because I don't believe it's made up. You believed that you or someone on your team was tunneled. I just want to know what you personally consider tunneling so I can compare it to what I believe to be tunneling.
The dbd community does not have a single definition of tunneling so to understand each other's point we must have some reference to go by.
-
Not really a hot take, tbh.

I really don't care about what excuses you come up with. Focusing on a survivor until they're dead is tunneling by definition
So by that logic the killer must ignore the last survivor that got unhooked. Even if that survivor actively impeeds the killer from hunting other survivors.

Going after the unhooked survivor no matter what
That can still mean many things. What if the killer goes off and tries to find other survivors and the one that got unhooked last happens to cross their path. Is it then tunneling to go after that survivor?
-
Think they tried this once and that was enough to never do it again.
Even when they provide a big disclamer that the PTB is purely experimental. They get many players asking why the changes haven't been made live yet, to complaining about the feature as if they were.

Fun times
How do you define tunneling?
- Directly off the hook
- After unhook, found working on a gen/ healing with another survivor(s) and the killer goes after you.
- Hooked twice in a row regardless of time.
-
Just bring back the og ebony mori and make it basekit.
-
What do you expect when addons were reduced to status affects?
-
Spread it so thin that survivors don't feel it.

never. I can imagen they changed it for two reasons:
- You cannot miss your login-reward when you have to claim it in the messages menu. Maybe in the past, there were some players who miss the notification and were like "hey BHVR I didn't received my daily login reward, your game is broken".
- The developers also put other stuff in the message menu like new skins, skin returns, or stuff besides dbd, now it's harder for every player to ignore these things and they have to see it and maybe this will lead them to check it out and buy stuff.
- Could also be the case that it is easier for them to put the daily reward in the messages menu for some reasons.
If you don't claim it that would be missing it. I can see this becoming an issue later.

Apparently some players are so desperate for the mori that they slug for that alone when they wouldn't care for the 4k otherwise. I have my doubts that this is actually true though. Moris are a nice detail but to be honest, they don't look that good that I need to see them every time and I would assume that's how most players feel.
What could be done though is reworking the mori so it only works on the 3rd survivor, if and only if the other one is not in the dying state. So if by chance there really is an uptick in slugging for the mori it would now disincentivise it.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873118#Comment_3873118
I don't think we even have any data that would show that slugging for the 4k became more prevalent around the time the base kit more was introduced. I know that there were stats about slugging but without a comparison to how much it occured before that, this is really not sufficient. It could have always been like this and we wouldn't know for sure. It's also possible that this started way sooner and just now reached its peak.
It might as well be, that killers overall win more, which leads to more games in which slugging for the 4k is even an option. Or people don't want to take a completely arbitrary risk in hooking the third survivor and giving the 4th 2 more chances to escape. That's really the part that I don't like about the way the hatch works. You win the game by killing 3 survivors but then there is a second and third chance for that last survivor to escape still, which can also be minimised by slugging.
I'd say that's a problem with the hatch. One that unfortunately has no easy solution because without the hatch, that last survivor basically has no incentive to play anymore. The same thing would be true for the last 2 survivors (with 1-2 gens remaining).
How do they know the killer wouldn't care for the 4k otherwise? Is the saying they need the mori for a daily or tome challenge? Because those would be rare enough not to cause outcry. Killer's want a 4k. They would slug the 3rd to get the 4th, just now they will wait out the 3rd survivors hook animation for a mori.
-
Every thread about this says the same thing. As though throughout the history of DBD slugging for the 4k wasn't a thing and wasn't complained about.
Killers that wanted the 4k before are just mori the last survivor instead of hooking. That's all that changed.

Numbers dont lie. 10 million player base in 2020 to 6 million for today. almost 50% and a lot of more incentives, licenced, game modes and still less number than years ago. This game is boring and sazonal now and devs dont care about.
We should just ignore March 2021. Because that would mean DBD died in 2021 and never recovered, right?
-
4 survivors and you are always the one the killer picks on. 🤔
-
Well there's also the case where the perks you do get don't synergize with each other or even counteract.
-
843
Now, what are you going to do with it?
-
There's no increase in slugging. Just an increase in complaining about it.

This one is simple, guy is done playing for the day and he died, so he can now shut off his console/pc.
A lot of people don’t care about the BP and the penalty is so short that it won’t matter anyway especially if you won’t be playing until the next day.
They were in front of the exit waiting for the killer. If time was an issue they could of just left.

Welcome to online gaming where you can get shot around walls. Doesn't matter if you have fiber internet, there is still distance between you and the server and the server to the other player.
What you don't see from the survivor perspective is all the false hits Huntress gets. You see the impact, see the blood, hear the hit, but the survivor is perfectly fine.
Like pictured in another reply, the survivor hitbox is not the model but a box centered on the model. That means when your running there are parts of your model that won't register a hit. If you want realistic hitboxes, then survivor hitboxes must be reworked as well.
