Devs know that Nerfing Nurse (and Blight) without reducing the power of good SWFs will result in major backlash that will probably tank their killer main population. They won’t touch SWF because, even for the sake of balance, players will view it as a punishment for playing with friends.
If they won’t balance the game around the strongest players on one side, then they really can’t do the same for the other and not be accused of being biased. One may argue that SWF isn’t a problem because the sweaty swat squads are few in number, which is a fair argument, then the same can be said for Nurse (and Blight), since the really good players who can maximize their potential are few in number and thus, aren’t really much of a problem in the grand scheme of things.
Not really. Game survived when Nurse killswitched. I am sure reworking Nurse and nerfing Blight add-ons won't affect game as well. Because killers are already strong enough to win most of games. Except Trapper, Myers and some of other weak killers. But most of killers are just fine.
And you guys should stop using SWF as excuse. Any time people ask for nerfing unbalanced things: BUT SWFs exist!!! So what? You are winning against most of SWF teams as well. But good Nurses and Blights are not rare. They are pretty popular killers, especially Blight.
@lav3 said:
Nurse and Blight have equivalent positions as SWF.
Her nerf is justified only when SWF gets nerfed.
Another SWF excuse for busted killers.
Most of SWF teams are casual players. You are winning against countless SWF teams without noticing it.
And there is no way to nerf SWF without nerfing Solo teams as well. Do you really want to nerf solo teams?
@Trollinmon said:
The thing with Nurse is you need to be able to break los twice. If there is only a single los breaker then she can blink to that los and now you are in the open. With all the clutter they have been adding to the maps I don't think she is that large of an issue anymore since you usually have stuff to work with.
Most of maps are pretty open. Only newest maps are good against Nurse and people are already asking nerf for these maps. Most of times you will get old maps because we have only 3 newest maps which is good against Nurse.
So Nurse will be fine most of times.

Probably... Jake is not popular tho, other og survivors are still so popular while Jake never seen in trials. I always found this weird.

Nah, it would not be problem. For example, give female Trapper to Meg and normal Trapper to Dwight.

I'm not going to pretend like I've never felt underappreciated as a teammate--as if all of my efforts were for naught. That is the nature of playing a team game; you a win and you lose AS A TEAM. Great players will succeed as a result of their efforts, and they will also lose despite their achievements.
How you handle that defeat is a reflection of your character.
Call this a "casual party game" all you want, but you're clearly not having a party playing it, and the players you are facing are putting in an effort to beat you. Nothing you can say or do will ever change that latter fact.
What is the catalyst that will get you to stop playing this game? Evidently you are not enjoying it, and logical people stop doing things they do not enjoy. It is noble that you would endure so much pain, to be a statistic in BHVR's data logs, but at some point you need to walk away.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3489076#Comment_3489076
If you don't have a lot of free time in your day, why would you waste it gambling on having a good time playing DBD? It does not make any sense.
There are so many other amazing games you could be playing that you will enjoy every time you sit down to play it.
So you are deciding what game is fun or not? Maybe they love horror multiplayer and DbD is best choice for this? Now you will tell them go and play Minecraft?
Makes sense? No.

You should sit there on the hook, because if you D/C or sac yourself, you’ve taken 2+ minutes of objective time away from your teammates. You queued into the only team role in the game—you should feel obligated to help the team escape.
If you can’t take one for the team, you need to acknowledge that while the game can be fun, most of the time it is not…or acknowledge that you’re not a team player, and you either need to work on yourself or go play a different game.
All that said, BHVR should definitely address the elements of DBD that players use to torment their opponent.
You should consider, however, that some elements (such as sitting on a hook for up to 2 minutes) are problems that may have no real solution.
Sitting on the hook is like being a benchwarmer. You’re probably doing it because you’re the weak link, but you love the game and your team is going to need you at some point so you endure.
Not everyone have that much time. Some people have time for 2 - 3 matches and maybe they don't wanna waste it against these killers?
Camping and tunnelling are clearly issues, BHVR should fix them. Because killer player is not letting other players to play game in cases like that.

Back in ye olde days, waving your arms meant the opposite: That the Killer was camping and that you shouldn't try to save.
That said, it was never really a consensus even when the community was much smaller, and I don't think we'll ever reach one with how big it is now. There will always be people who don't realize how most people use it. Fortunately the HUD now shows who's doing what and who's being chased, so you usually have a pretty good idea of whether or not someone is going for the save. Whether or not your random teammates will go for the save is a different story, though.
But Hud does not show if killer is camping or not. SWFs can share this information with each other but it's not possible for solo survivors. Unless you bring the perk.
-
I mean i am hardly seeing people dc'es lol. Usually they are killing themself on hook.
Penalty times are just fine. If you keep dc, you will get longer penalty. So it's just fine. There is no reason to punish people who crashed or lost connection.

I had thought maybe it'd be a little busted or annoying if it was constant too, especially at unsafe pallets, but at the same time 1 meter is a veeery short range, so im not really sure it could be tested in game yk
Maybe but cooldown would make it balanced.
WoO is popular perk for survivors because knowing loop places are very good information. Zanshin is kinda useless. Another effect can make it useful for killers tho.

Zanshin tactics showing auras of survivors within 1 meter of all revealed pallet would be cool, pallet campers make me mald
This actually not bad idea tho. But it should have cooldown for this effect if you get hit. Like 30 seconds maybe. Not for main effect ofcourse.

I mean, I laid out a couple reasons I think it's a worthwhile mechanic. It's kinda the whole thing this post is about?
I am just asking to removing this mechanic for forever. Most of maps are fine. If there is some problematic maps, they can be re-balance again.
I just don't love when killer abuses bloodlust on weak - mediocre loops when you outplay them with mind-games.
-
Death threats, racist messages etc are bannable. But i doubt they will ban people for just call you noob, ez etc.
-
People love to call haste effects op (MfT mostly) but then they are okay with Bloodlust.
Bloodlust was needed when infinite loops was in game but this is not case anymore.
This outdated mechanic should be removed from game because we don't need it anymore.

Stupid idea to make them lose collision. You say they can't use it as weapon? It won't last long until the first survs use that lose of collision to flashlightsafe and palletsafe a downed mate, because they dont have to fear getting hit. And to make it impossible to tunnel someone out would be way to much, because the gens go way to fast.
The best way to go against tunneling is slowing down the game. For example by making Hex Totems invisible. So Survivor have to cleanse every totem until they find it. Would be much fairer for Killer with the 90% crap totem spawns. The game lasts longer, because Survs need to find the totem -> Gens arent powered as fast -> Killer isn't forced to tunnel to slow the game down.
This is just so wrong.
Killers got best slowdown months ago. CoB + Overcharge + Eruption. This meta made gens almost imposible to finish but yet, killers was still tunnelling.
If there is no fear for tunnelling, there is no reason to not tunnel.

It's very clear you are just happy with easy mode you have. Tunnel out one of the survivors early and then get your easy wins.

That is the answer. The killer isn't making you unable to play the game by tunneling you out. The chases you had where in fact part of the game. If you are dying so quickly then it means the killer was outplaying you.
This is just simply part of the game that will always exist as long as the game is one where survivors can be eliminated. If being eliminated bothers you so much then maybe DBD isn't the pvp game for you.
Even my cat can out survivor with tunnelling.
You are acting like it's so hard. It's not. Tunnelling was already problem and devs buffed it for no reason. Anyone can out survivors with tunnelling, it's not big deal. It just shows how busted it is.

Just make it so the highest effect applies. It doesn't stack, just takes the largest number, like if someone gets Exhausted for 5 seconds and then 20 seconds it just makes them Exhausted for 20 seconds, not 25. If you use MFT + Hope + Dark Theory you still only reach 7%. That'd allow BHVR to buff other pretty awful perks to be a lot more useable solo without worrying about breaking the game.
I liked your idea. Non of haste perks are getting nerf but they are no longer busted.

If you are being tunneled out of the game you were playing by being chased. Plus nothing is stopping you from requeuing after you die and playing another game.
The survivor role is one that can be eliminated from the game. That is simply part of their gameplay.
The chase where you have no chance, sure. You can't even make good bp. Sure. Such a gameplay.
Hopefully BHVR nerf this after camping. So killers can actually play game instead of destroying fun for other side.

You realize you have the agency to run wherever you want to as long as you have DS? If you choose to run to a deadzone and get downed, and waste your DS, that's on you. Realizing that you have a free wiggle off the killer's shoulders, you should probably run to a safe tile, greed the pallet until you get downed, then instantly drop it after DS.
Cool story but this is not reality of game. Next.

As someone who runs DS in over 95% of their games due to the fact that I get tunnelled a lot, I'm gonna have to disagree. That perk has singlehandedly won me countless games.
Trust me, it seems bad on paper, but in games - as long as you're a decent looper - its very, VERY good still. I would recommend trying it even if you think its a bad perk.
Nah, i will just pass it. Because it did not help me against killers like Nurse, Blight which i get most times. This perk is on useless tier for me.
@Xernoton said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486908#Comment_3486908
I think this is probably the safest option to more or less get rid of tunneling. However, there would need to be further restrictions added to the game like the collisionless survivor being unable to use a flashlight or drop a pallet to save their team mate. Otherwise this would be extremely abusable.
If someone else gets down, you are losing this effect. Killer no longer can tunnel you while you have this effect which means you can go to safe areas. But if you are around to save your teammate, then you deserved to be down if killer notice you.
-
@Peanits said:
To answer on a theoretical level, yes, that's absolutely possible. But for licensed characters it would need to be discussed with the owners of those characters first. That said, I can't confirm whether or not this is going to happen.
On a more technical level, legendary outfits convert an existing character to a different character while the outfit is equipped. The moment you take that outfit off, they revert back to their normal character. So if this were to happen, it would likely appear as a separate legendary outfit.
Well some of legendary characters have great potential to sell more skins. Claire and Chris first comes to mind. Hopefully we can get more skins for them.

You underestimate how much DS can do. The only killers you mentioned that are slightly unaffected by it are nurse and spirit. DS + DH is an absolute monster combo against blight.
Even against A tiers, DS is still one of the best perks in the game if you can loop the killer afterwards. So use the basekit BT to get into a good position and then use DS to extend the chase.
DS is doing nothing. It's terrible and garbage perk. 1,2 seconds is animation. You have only 1,8 seconds to make distance.
Even m1 killers laughs to this perk.
-

Combo DS with the basekit BT which can get you around 40ish meters assuming the killer hits on the 10s mark, you should be able to make it to a decent loop on any map.
That's not even taking into account OTR which forces the killer to hit you off hook, BT, or other haste perks like MFT, guardian etc.
Against m1 killers?
Sure.
But who plays m1 killer anyway. All i am seeing Wesker, Blight, Nurse, Spirit, Nemesis etc. DS is destroying weak killers and doing nothing against strong killers.

Doesn't change the fact that BHVR have not done a good job regarding Singularity and the 2 chapters before. Singularity got released and INSTANTLY needed a buff. If that doesn't kill the hype for a new killer, I don't know what will. And even with the buffs it got it's still only mediocre. Not super good, not super bad. Just a mediocre killer with an incredibly high skill floor.
Creating different killers is good but if the difference is: "One is strong and fun and the other boring and weak in comparison." that is bad design. BHVR have proven that they are capable of creating strong and fun killers. But the last 3 don't fit this category. They are all either weak or simply not fun to play and 2 of them are even worse to play against.
Knight is strong killer when they use power for chase. It's just players which uses his power for camp or 3-gen.
-
@BlightedDolphin said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486908#Comment_3486908
That still can be abused though because without collision you can stand inside the killer and auto aim will hit them.
You can't get hit if you lose collision. That's how it works.
Auto-aim is terrible design tho, it should be removed with or without this mechanic.
-
@BlightedDolphin said:
I don't know if DS should go back to 5 seconds, but what they should change is that the stun applies AFTER the survivor breaks free.
So effectively the killer is stunned for 4 seconds, but you get 3 seconds of distance as opposed to only 2 seconds currently. Wouldn't be opposed to it applying on both hook states either.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486813#Comment_3486813
Unfortunately yes, tunnelling and camping will always be a thing.
If gens are too fast, killers feel pressured to get a kill.
But if gens are too slow then killers have no downside to camping or tunnelling because the threat of gen rushing is reduced.
So then you add in a bunch of ways to discourage tunnelling and camping... but then its evened out by the fact that a longer chase on a survivor who is on death hook is often still more beneficial than a shorter chase on a survivor who hasn't been hooked. So then you make the anti-tunnelling stronger, but then survivors just abuse it and it goes against what it was intended for and NOT tunnelling becomes detrimental because survivors are trying to force you into it (like how if a survivor body blocks you with BT you are better off chasing them rather than continue chasing the unhooker) or survivors become near invincible (the old "small PP build").
So it's a very hard thing to balance because it's always going to be an effective and generally safe strategy or survivors can abuse those who don't tunnel.
There's no real way to fix. The best way I can think of is to make the reward for not tunnelling better than the reward for tunnelling, but I have no idea how that is possible or what to even do.
Or maybe we should get anti-tunnel mechanic or perk which makes survivor lose collision. Let's say for 60 seconds.
Survivor can't use it as weapon. Killer can't chase them.
Ofcourse this will make tunnelling less viable but for cost, they can buff killers in general.
@Leachy_Jr said:
I mean I'd probably say DS is one of if not the best survivor perk in the game rn. You just need to know when and where to go down so you're still in a decent position after it activates. Only killers id say it's mediocre against is spirit and nurse but even then it's still a pretty good timewaster.
Unfortunately tunnelling will always be the most effective strat unless they massively rework the base game. I don't think its too big of an issue though since it has a lot of counterplay involving taking hits, DS, DH,, and just looping well enough for the tunnel to be not worth it (easier said than done against some killers).
Hey Mr Killer, please don't down me here. I am on dead zone right now, my DS will be wasted because i have not any loop near. Can you please get me down next to shack. Thank you so much!

tunneling feels worse because of the gen speed my friend. Killers feel the need to tunnel someone out because the clock is ticking and it ticks and the gens speed light. When you lose 2-3 gens by the time you have 1-2 successful down. You know you gotta get someone out ASAP. Im sure most killers would stop tunneling if they wouldnt lose gens that quick. This wouldnt solve the problem 100%, of course they will always be tunneler , but im sure it would be from time to time vs unexperienced killers. Compare to now almost every game.
That's just not true.
Killers got best anti-gen meta ever with CoB + Overcharge + Eruption.
These perks made gens very slow and yet killers did not stop camping and tunnelling. And this ended for them losing these perks. Some anti-camp changes as well.
It's not realistic. Killers will always tunnel, even if game is so easy for them.

There is some maps are problematic, true but i don't think most of maps are that bad. They are just fine. But some killers are so weak, even maps like Midwich probably feeling bad for them. So these killers should be buffed.

Lobbies =/= games. Killers can't DC without penalty once the match has started, so youre trying to force a false equivalence. The DC penalty affects killer just as much as survivor, only the game ends entirely if they leave.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3486347#Comment_3486347
yup just like people BM in other games when not allowed to DC without penalty as well. You can't fix entitlement, just punish it when its disruptive. removing that punishment isnt going to fix those players somehow.
I prefer bots instead of these players. But problem is they are not dc'ing cuz penalty. They are killing themself on hook. Free leave.
And i don't think they will remove unhook mechanic because it's part of the game and there is even some builds around this mechanic.
Even if they remove unhooking, they will still not be helpful. Like i said, they will stealth around like old times. There is no fix for if player do not wanna stay in this match, you just can't force them play.
-
@Ryuhi said:
Note how other games like League of Legends keep dc penalties even with bot replacements. DCs should be required to rejoin (in case of crash) or take the DC penalty to discourage abuse.
As a kid playing solitaire, i used to always restart the game until i got at least one ace showing at the start. This community is full of people who shop for games the same way, and its not fair to the other people who get matched with them, bots or no.
I am sure they will play game when you force them stay in game.
They will stealth around and do not any gen or anything. They will play for hatch. We will back to the era where Clauds are hiding around and forcing killer to dc.

They nerfed it by... making it so the killer cannot down you immediately after you're unhooked? Giving you a speed boost, too, so that while the killer is waiting it out, you're getting further away from them than you would be otherwise?
That wasn't a buff to tunnelling. DS being nerfed is the only thing that could be argued as a tunnelling buff, and while I do think it deserves a longer stun, that alone doesn't outweigh the fact that the most egregious form of tunnelling was completely removed. Any time you're being tunnelled now, with a handful of killer-specific exceptions, you have some agency in the matter.
I'm not saying there's no problem with tunnelling currently, but it's unfair to ignore what the devs have already done to lessen the issue. It did, genuinely, use to be worse than this. The devs did implement anti-tunnel measures before, they haven't completely ignored it.
Maybe i am bit overacting, probably you are right.
But honestly, tunnelling feels worse. DS always gave me fight back chance when it was strong enough. But now i have nothing. OtR is really not good to stop tunnelling. It's not effective like old DS.
And i never saw tunnelling was that popular, it was always in game but it's now almost every game. Some games it's me, some games one of the my teammates. I don't think currently we have healthy game.

because there is no counter-play to DS. there is no alternative way for killer to win.
If you slug a decisive strike user for 60 seconds ->60 second that 3 people can rush generators+potencial pick-up.
if you don't slug decisive strike user and pick up -> free second chance to extend chases. you get punished either way. lose/lose perk. creating anti-tunnel perk is punishing killer for playing the game.
There is counter for DS: DON'T TUNNEL.
It's really so easy.

OTR is overrated. It became redundant after stacking endurance was removed, and now OTR gets negated by just hitting the survivor right as they get unhooker.
Like you said to me before, OtR should be like MoM. It should have different Endurance effect. So killer can't steal it from you with early hit.

I mean... they have? They nerfed it a year ago, in 6.1.0. They also did add OTR as another viable anti-tunnel perk, as well as buffing Borrowed Time relative to where it was before.
It may still be bad, but back when you could be hit the second your feet touched the ground from an unhook, it was noticeably worse. Progress has been made, albeit slowly.
That being said, reverting DS' stun time would be a great change to help that along.
How they nerfed it? Are you joking?
They actually buffed it?
DS nerfed. Mini STBFL added to killer base-kit. Speed boost reduced from hits.
Oh yea, we got base-kit BT which is so garbage. Anyone can count 10 seconds. And if you have not strong loop to near you, you are dead. And it does not matter even if you have it, thanks to killers like Spirit, Nurse, Blight, Wesker etc.

It was a problem, I used to play and survivor queues were quick but noody could play a full game unless it was a SWF. Then the killers in those games would just leave when the game looked bad.
Killers Queues were also quick but that was when killers could switch their killer in lobby and had 1 hook Mori, anytime a killer started losing too bad they also just DCed.
Eventually, people did not DC for a while but surprisingly very few matches actually went to the end. There was almost always a DC<For the Hatch, or Killer got a bad map, or Killer downed you first, or you hit second hook etc.>. It got so bad that even when they announced DC penalties, you could literally not play the game. It was awful 2 to 5 minute queues for killer, over ten minute queues for survivor but people would DC in the first minute of the game so often no match was played.
TLDR DC penalties are a neccesary evil because you really cannot play a game without them.
I just liked this era more than now.
DC penalties killed queues and for fix this, we got this terrible mmr system. And then mmr system made games even more unbalanced and this ended with nerfing meta perks.
Old DbD was better, nothing can change my mind. I enjoyed more.

Cheating is cheating and it matters. I’m not saying I agree that bloodpoints need a cap, but don’t dismiss the severity of cheaters.
I mean if this is the reason, it's stupid to keep cap for BPs. Because there is cheat which allows you open all perks, items, offerings and add-ons on everyone.
Cheater would not bother himself with BP-hack, they would use item-hack.

I just disagree with op.
Sometimes we are getting boring and weak killers. But then we are getting interesting and fun killers. Sometimes strong killers. It's good for DbD trying to make different type killers.
And the newest killer, the Singularity is not weak btw, he is easy A tier killer. But his power is clunky to control and honestly i found him so boring.

Amazon rewards are probably exc, so i would not expect them to be added to store.

Just wait till one or even two gens pop for a killer during their first chase or if they get a bad map. You will never be able to play a full game again.
DbD was like that before and it was not problem. It helped matchmaking as well. Whenever you see you are losing, you were going to next game.
