What? No more hawkins map??? Why? How? What?
I am so confused... why is this happening? Has a chapter been pulled like this before?
it might be that the licenseholders didn't agree to renew the license for whatever reason.
-
Shame, it was fun. Met some really nice people just starting the game, had some nice chats exchanging tips with new blood and some veterans (who admitted they weren't particularly well versed against my killers).
I'll honestly miss it.

Depends on the leaks.
I dont mind skins being leaked and stuff like that, but sometimes it can ruin a bit of the "mystery" like when Ghostface was leaked.
^^^ this. I'd honestly say the devs should be more forgiving about discussing skin leaks.
talking about those can get people hyped and put money to the side for it (see the recent cat&dog ones), or allow last minute tweaks when a lot of people point out something doesn't work in the design
-
Depends on which. There's some that aren't horror/slasher that can work, and others that definitely can't.

are the new "suitcase" packs the rift?
not really.
All things considered, the rift should have really unique stuff in the payed part and recolours in the free rift, while packs are packs
-
Honestly? They should release these kinds of cosmetics as bigger packs like the Suitcase back in the day. It's much more likely that more people will buy that than them buying a single set.
Like... cross your heart, would you rather buy a dlc providing themed outfits for 5 characters for 7 bucks, or one single character for 10?

dude... i had ping spikes myself when downed or hooked and I wouldn't even know how to hack that or what for
-
@Bwsted said:
Don't do that. If the other survivors recorded the game, they could report you for teaming.
And no, the fact that Bill was hacking won't save you, because they might have not caught that on tape.
Next time record and report, but don't break the rules yourself.
you know that 2000+ ping don't necessarily mean hacking?
It can be simply shoddy internet, even if you are for example in the US. because big provider companies rather spent money they got from the government to make sure everyone has fast, stable internet on big mansions for themselves.
-
Can we run ghostie over with a piano?
-
What people said:
the RE map is too loyal to its originals. Sure, you have your vaults etc, but overall it's just to much of a maze.
Midwich is confusing, but not nearly as much as RCPD.
mainly cause midwich, is smaller with more space. there are no realy tiny nooks and crannies on midwich, and hooks are easy to get to. You won't have it that a hook is 'next' to you behind a wall and you have to go over half the map to get to it on midwich. if a hook is 'next to you' a doorway leading there is close by.
Also, no secrets on RCPD.

For Pennywise, there's two directions they could go.
1. Pennywise taken from the end of the Chapter Two movie. It's on the verge of death, and makes a deal with the Entity as a last-ditch grasp at survival. This would explain why it doesn't just kill everybody and overthrow the Entity, because the Entity probably bound it to itself - or whatever justification you could imagine. This would be better for a full chapter.
2. Pennywise taken during its long sleep between the two films. This would be more of a PH-style service to the Entity - instead of being captured by the Entity, Pennywise would participate in trials as of its own free will, like a vacation of sorts. It would also be unique in that it would be the sole killer in the roster who can leave the Entity's realm at any time - it's just there to get a slice of the Entity's great emotion feast. This would be better for a paragraph.
I'd prefer the second one, honestly. I think a full IT chapter would be hard to implement due to the problem of a survivor and designing a sewer map, and this backstory does more justice to Pennywise.
option 3:
they are the same species and pennywise is there cause he's wooing the entity

I would love to see a Pennywise chapter man.
Brings us back to the question: would pennywise work? he and the entity are sorta the same... species?

I'm constantly paired with people with less than 50 hours (usually less than 20), but I don't mind. I like helping them learn stuff and get some much needed BP in

I have a concept that I remade (tho tbh I prefer the old one) if you want to check it out. I'm sure there is some stuff they could do. I mean they made Freddy fit in (granted I hate how they implemented him, his power is way too weird and unfitting) so I'm sure Springtrap wouldn't be too hard. I made my old Springtrap concept before Blight and it is pretty similar to him, but I feel like there is still potential there. But I understand your point.
There's another aspect to this:
Look how... insistent... you and other fnaf fans are about it... Cross your heart, how many would get seriously angry if bhvr would not turn springy into some unbestable godmode killer?
That said, can I ask you a question:
Would you be okay with getting Willy's Wonderland instead of fnaf?
-
There's one big thing (aside from many small ones) that disqualifies fnaf from dbd:
No feasible gameplay.
I've seen dozens of threads like this, some musing about perks, morie, outfits, maps design... but rarely gameplay.
Lately we had three killers in a row that were quite lackluster. Although you can view Nemesis as a beginner's killer, trickster and twins are still low tier, regardless how you play.
But they all bring something to the table. springy? what would he do? he has nothing. fnaf is all stress and jumpscares, so how would you NOT have him be a carbon copy of Ghostie? Hag? Michael?
I have seen a few ideas for his powers but they all... made him a plain, dull iWin button. invisible stealth killer with an insta down (this commonly popped up) sometimes immune to spinechill? who combines wraiths cloaking (thus seeing survivors) with spirit's insta uncloak?
how is that fun?
There's good ideas for so many other characters, horror and other franchises alike that would make for interesting gameplay. but for fnaf I have yet to see something that wouldn't insist on some godmode, unbestable killer.
-
weird.
for some reason the game seems to believe I can run nurse...

@Sparse said:
Yeah, I don't really understand what advantage/disadvantage the fog is supposed to give to killers or survivors. It just seems like flair that doesn't really have an effect. It doesn't seem to affect my view much, no matter which offerings are used.
iirc you originally had the moon bouquets (?) which would make the map darker, like immensely darker. that was replaced by the bottles which iirc originally stacked, no matter which you brought. then that was changed to a purple bottle being the max, regardless of other stuff.
It's like with the hook offering:
There was a time when it would increase/reduce the number of hooks, now it just puts them further apart/closer together which depending on the map can backfire spectacularly for the one who brought the offering
-
@Malum_Midnight said:
I think it’s definitely possible. From what I hear, the mask company that licenses Ghost Face (since the movies don’t actually own the mask) is really chill. That’s why he has so many cosmetics for a licensed character. On top of that, he has an original story separate from any movie.
^^^ this. DBD ghostie isn't SCREAM Ghostie (which is why it's very unlikely that we'll ever get sidney. we might get... carl? is that the name of the cashier ghostie killed?) so... he might very well get a tome some day.
-
@Altarf said:
Because it's very difficult to balance a concept when you can't playtest the concept. Look at Spirit - on paper, she is completely balanced because Yamaoka's Haunting stops you from receiving visual information about survivor locations. Meanwhile, Hillbilly is completely unbalanced on paper - an instadown at any time, curving theoretically allowing him to counter looping, and great mobility? He must be OP, let's nerf him! But in reality, Hillbilly has several problems with his design that prevent him from being anything above high C tier in my opinion, like just how easy it is for survivors to make themselves immune to his chainsaw and the limitations imposed by Overheat, even if you yourself don't Overheat very often. And all concepts are "on paper" so what seems balanced and fair in the creator's mind can actually be incredibly strong or uselessly weak, and they'll have no way of knowing due to the lack of a beta or testing method.
As such, if you just take a quick glance at the killers' basekits without taking their actual gameplay and counterplay dynamics into account, you'll think that killers like Billy, Doctor and Pig are incredibly strong, and killers like Spirit and Blight are on the weaker end.
Actually, this explains a lot about BHVR's balance decisions.
I think with killers you gotta take their maps into consideration too (which honestly is a bit of a general designflaw)
Spirit's map has a lot of spots to hide, Billy has CORN, Deathslinger likewise has a lot of hiding spots, Oni has all the nooks and crannies to sidestep his ability, etc. the issues come when they're on a map not made for them
-
@Emeal said:
Most Killer creations are about flavour text, look and feel. not about game design.
This is also what most Killer creation posts get likes from.
You sorta see the same old movie licences get recycled from someone new trying to give them a spin and then the same types of Killer ideas.
that's what I mean. It's remarkable how much love people can pour into a concept some time but when it ends up with a killer that is some mix between spirit and basement bubba, something's a bit amiss
-
They should change the fog to a killer only offering to dim the red stain and tr in exchange for speed.
-
@UncleStabby said:
I can see a nautical themed killer working. For example, Im a fan of the Fog. But it might be difficult to go full underwater with it. Maybe if you flooded every stage to like, waist level.
mhnnn.... Glenvale for example, is a desert so that might be out. a flooded RCPD would be... would it be better or worse? Hawkins wouldn't change much, come to think of it.

I don't think BHVR would make a chapter so complex to the point where casual gamers would have no idea what they're playing unless they play 3 or 4 games of FNAF.
...so complex... vcr screens...
what is the connection between hellraiser and vcr again?
he was introduced in FNAF 3 which is YEARS after FNAF 1 & 2 according to my sources.
so? why would that matter?
you are trolling. are... are the servers down for you? are you currently on a day long penalty for dcing? is that it? that is it, innit?

I am not sure if that's even wrong tbh
Playing against experienced but nice killer is much better for newer survivors than playing against newer killer who tries to camp everyone he catches
It makes sense that the game allowes you to play casually if you want
agree. What i meant though it that it seems as if the game equals 'experienced and nice' with 'low skill level', which... is not great

Yeah, that's true. These matches will kinda mess with your MMR. I hope BHVR is filtering these matches at least to a degree.
not right now I'd say. I know i'm not 'good', though I've been able to hold my ground well against highranks, but I'm often.... too nice? and right now i'm getting paired with people with less than 10 hours into the game (not that I mind, make the killer challenges a lot easier)
-
Only thing it's genuinely missing is finetuning in the form of allowing people to say if they gave up/felt sorry and farmed/had something come up irl but didn't want to dc, to take such matches into account
-
Alright, honest answer:
I don't think it's bias, but a combination of these points:
- Hard to implement with the current mechanics. Right now you can hardly do him justice (see Nemesis). He could work unlike some other characters, but not too well with the current mechanics.
- Legal issues concerning the license, maybe.
- Reluctance due to the constant spamming. Like, people, you are aware that the constant pestering someone with something to force them to do X constitutes torture? Now, people wanting candyman are FAR from the worst offenders for this (we all know who the worst are), but still. Do look up threads speculating about his potential dbd powers and gameplay instead and vote them up etc
-
lery's has an uncleansable totem in one of the hampers (as well as some very very very weird gen and hook spawns lately), report has been filed, but is still pending.
-
Seen quite a few, but I'd say with perks like Devour it's counterproductive. Cause if you got Undying on the field and the survivors get its curse, they know something's fishy.
-
Played a little, and i dunno if it's the time of day or sbmm, but I had one guy (a leon) three times in a row who dced the first two times (my Q and matches overlapt with his waittime apparently) and then just followed me around trying to get me to kill him (he got saved both times) who then told me he hates deathslinger
-
With how regular sounds bugs are happening rather recently I'd say it might be that the sounds are called incorrectly? They seem to be updating sounds as well, so new files (names) might simply slip through.
One of the reasons PTBs should be used for trying to break things, not just trying out new characters
-
It has jiggle-physics

Springtrap is bound to come in dbd at some point.
Plus E could be
I am still here
Five Nights at Freddy's
The Attraction
I always come back
Also people kept using "Say It' for Candy man quote so no reason to use that theory for Springtrap
The 'Say It' was on the new poster and it kinda would have made sense if they went first letter first word, first letter second word, second letter first word while we had S-I-A.

Honestly I think fnaf fans will play for a month tops and drop the game ^^" I love this community, it is passionate, creative, and skilled... but this game isn't for everyone. Its takes a tough cookie to play DBD... and an extra tough stubborn cookie to play killer ^^
Between the salty players, the troll players, and the bugs in this game I doubt any fnaf players would be able to handle it and they will bail before you know it.
I am not saying I don't want new blood in this game!!!! I do! But I doubt every fnaf fan will flood here, and then the ones that do because 'omg Springtrap' are in for a very rude awakening... I love playing killer but damn it is not easy ^^"
They will figure that out soon enough and then move on like a bunch of people tend to do.
I get being a pessimist, but as an optimist I am here to help balance the mood my dude!
i'd rather expect an influx of BMs outranging the worst insidious bubba, but I'm willing to wait and see. (Especially since I've promised people I WILL finish the deathslinger fanfic, and I intend to keep that promise)

I get fnaf is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you love dbd it would be a shame to give it up just for a dumb chapter. I'm not a Candyman fan but if he came to DBD I would just not buy the chapter and play the characters that I love ^^
If it causes you distress though then you gotta do what is best for you.
i'm the 'once bitten twice shy' type of person, and with few, very few exceptions I have only bad experience with the fnaf fans. I like dbd, but I genuinely fear what a fnaf chapter will bring
