  • Anonymity means not being held accountable. And based on evidence surrounding us, people don't hold themselves accountable either. Which is wierd for me especially, since I have no conscience, guilt or empathy and yet I still try to be as civil and caring as I can. I don't always get it right, but I'm always trying. And if a psychopath can do that, why can't everyone else?

And if people are being bigoted toward you, I am so sorry. It's the reason I stopped playing shooters - sucking at them while calling out bigotry? Yeah, there's a reason I mostly play single player RPG titles. But if anyone's been making you feel unwelcome, then please know that some of us genuinely don't care about gender, culture, sexuality, or even how feminine/masculine you are.

  • None of those perks have comparable effects or even work in the same situations

  • What? Are you trying to say that killers can go for 12 hooks, because that's not actually a thing that can happen unless the survivors are all potatoes. Snowballing is the only way for killers to get pressure on survivors that know what generators are and how to hit skillchecks.

it doesn when dead hard actually works and you make good predictions aswell, since no human can play nurse perfectly. and no one does, we have those stupid tourney where you see lots of thousands hours nurses losing all the time and winning some others, same with spirit but at least nurse cna potentially be more entertaining to face.

And what happens if the Nurse doesn't take the bait (like a good Nurse) or you don't have Dead Hard (because it's a perk, not a base kit power)?

  • A semi-stealth killer with map-wide tracking potential and decent mobility.

I'd say spirit does take some skill. You have to know the pathing survivors take to be good with her. Even then iron will is a kick to spirits non-existent nuts.

I do agree with freddy though.

Nope. Just walk to a loop and keep playing the coin toss game (using her power in very short bursts to randomly position yourself on one side of the loop or the other in order to catch the survivor, who cannot leave the loop or they'll be their even quicker). Even like that Spirit is still one of the strongest killers in the game.

  • Nurses blinks cannot be dodged, unless you are deciding to use a bad Nurse as an example

Just because a killer is easier to use it doesn't mean that the killer just need to suck, that not how balacing works.

Playing a harder killer is a choice for the killer and his skill of being able to make use of the power, just look at Spirit, even though the game says she's hard to play, she's actually one of the easiest killers and still one of the strongest killers on the game, while Trapper power is "easy", you must be a mind game god to be able to play at high ranks.

For The Legion, there's no power in his power, it just makes survivors have only one mistake before being downed, a good survivor will still be able to take advantage and loop until god knows when.

Freddy and Spirit would disagree with your opening statement.

also... can you blame people for using second chance perks? if you really wanna have fun you need atleast 1 second chance perk.

most killers hard tunnel, camp etc and if you dont wanna deal with that you need these perks. the only time i blame survivors for using that is when they're very good but also play on comms. because these people dont really need it. i play sometimes with my mates (and they're all potatoes) they dont run meta perks and when there is no obsession they just get hard tunneled what is very sad. so when i play with them i always pick DS just to have one obsession and the killer maybe respect DS.

sucks for the killer but some killers really deserve to play against meta survivor perks.

You lost me at "most killers hardcore camp and tunnel." No they dont, that is a provably false assumption. I literally never run second chance perks and I have never needed to.

  • Honestly? There is none. None at all. Because every group of survivors is different and does generators at different speeds, and everyone has a different idea of "balance" that goes from "survivors and killers have equal control over a chase" to "killers instawin chases while survivors slam gens."

Overall, I would agree that Blight is the most balanced killer in the game. Amazing mobility, good chase potential, actual counterplay, high skill ceiling but low skill floor, decent and meaningful add-ons, and a wide variety of playstyles. Oni, Billy and Huntress are also up there in my opinion, as are (not in a "fair chase" sense, but in the "slam gens and you'll do okay even without mega coordination" sense) Deathslinger and Pyramid Head. Even Plague, Ghostface, New Bubba and Demogorgon feel pretty balanced, if a little on the weaker side. However, none of these killers (with the possible exception of Blight, Huntress and Slinger) can really compete with the best players.

  • Hypocrisy is not limited to survivors.

  • Yeah, but that's just stealth killers. You don't have any real info on them, so the first hit's often free. Or, if it's a Ghostface with skills and a big brain, the only hit's free. ("Free" in this context meaning that the survivor has no chance to escape it, not that the killer doesn't work for it). However, I'm okay with that. I'd rather have to keep my eyes peeled and still potentially get hit than have to deal with Nurse or PH or any of the other killers that, even in a straight up chase, I just have it hope they suck.

  • Well, they kind of are. Legion has the easiest to use and most uncounterable power in the entire game, so they had to add some downsides. It can only be used to injure, there's no scratchmarks, there's a massive self-stun, one miss and it's gone...

It's like how Bubba has his tantrum. It's there to make an otherwise super easy power have a downside.

  • I'd be fine with a little snow and some themed generator skins. Also, it would be hilarious for DbD to celebrate Thanksgiving given both the huge international audience and the fact that the Devs are Canadian and already had their Thanksgiving

  • Is that opinion unpopular? I feel like that's just something taken for granted - the only ones I have ever seen argue against that are the second-chance crutchers that genuinely cannot make do with 3 second chance perks and REQUIRE all 4 slots to cover for their mistakes.

Like, seriously. 3 is plenty. One perk slot to drastically increase your knowledge of what's going on around you? That's so much more useful than yet another second chance. It is actually more meta to run DS/UB/DH/[Bond or Kindred] in solo que than it is to run Adrenaline or BT or whatever.

  • Don't get your hopes up. It's not a hardware issue, it's a game issue. When I upgraded my PC, my frame rate issues lessened, but the horrible choking stutter most certainly did not go away. The game's prettier, sure, but there's no performance difference between low and ultra.

  • I had a game where I closed the hatch and immediately got 0.5 frames a second til the survivor opened the door and escaped. One frame every two seconds with no explanation because the game apparently registered me closing the hatch at the same time as the survivor tried to jump through it, but their 100+ ping awarded me the close, BUT the game also threw a huge fit because reasons.

  • What do you expect when there's few killers? It's not a Dev problem, it's a ratio problem. People want to play survivor far more than killer, either because they can play with their friends or because it's easier/less stressful.

  • That sounds like a series of latency issues, and given that it's extremely rare to go against a series of players with very high ping, it's probably you

  • Actually, getting to rank 1 only as Myers is a pretty impressive feat. He does not get a lot of arbitrary head-pats - sorry, I mean "pips." You've got to work pretty damn hard to even get a black pip as the good old mayo. Back when I mained Plague, the other no-pip killer, I barely ever ranked up at all even with a 4k. I can't imagine trying to grind my way to rank 1

  • This kind of translates to "do you like playing on easy mode agaisnt people that are playing on hard mode."

  • Not sure about the survivors, but I do have a habit of listening to certain Ice Nine Kills songs while playing certain killers. American Nightmare for Freddy, Thank God It's Friday for Trapper, Savages for Leatherface and Billy, Stabbing in The Dark for Myers, The Jig Is Up for Pig...

And my all-time favourite, blasting Your Number's Up while playing Ghostface to really unwind.

  • It would be atmospheric, but it would somehow have to be wierd and twisted as well, because all of this is essentially happening in the realm of lovecraftian god that cannot understand the natural world

  • Thanatophobia is a perk that gives you value by making the survivors waste time healing or face the consequences.

Or at least, that's the idea. In practice it's an almost purely psychological effect because of both it rarely being at full power and also not being that powerful even when it is. The idea is sound, but it needs to be more punishing to be effective.

  • So, BT but longer and with a downside? Yeah, I'd run it if it had a 60 second duration and maybe a neato secondary effect, like temp aura reading for the bodyguard.

Are you on a lower end PC? Honestly I haven’t seen a lot of PC players complaining so I just assumed that PC was mostly fine or that most people had a higher end PC. Maybe I’ve just been missing them.

Also even without the PC issues, it was obvious that this isn’t a hardware issue. The PS4 and XB1 base models can play more demanding games with little to no issues. This might be because it’s a PS exclusive and easier to optimize, but I had God of War III Remastered fully download in seconds and it loads in around 4 seconds. That’s something I’d expect from the PS5, not a base PS4 that’s over half a decade old!

They’ve known for years. Have they done anything about it? Not really. We’re relying on next-gen to save us.

Actually, I recently upgraded from a lower end PC to a nice beefy midrange, and about the same time I saw a bunch of video evidence from PS4 users showing off their awful frame rate that was... Well, about the same as what I had been getting and only a little worse than what I currently get. To rub salt in the wound, I have the same issues at low settings as I have at ultra, so it's not even a proper graphics issue. It's just unexplained frame drops whenever something the game hasn't rendered enough times in one session happens, like getting hit, dropping pallets, using a power that has visual elements, bloodlust, etc.

  • Ab obsession perk that's punishing to the obsession instead of an outright buff, but without becoming the "tunnel me" that Dying Light used to be.

  • But we love you... 🥺

    Totally fair point.

Slightly off topic, I wish more information was shared globally about a survivors chance to self unhook.

For example, I love the Slippery Meat, Up The Ante, Luck Offering combo. Other survivors should see the Up The Ante icon and KNOW what I’m doing. Do gens. Why are you running to my hook. If I’m unlucky and get to second stage, so be it.

And what ever happened to luck icon that would tell survivors they have an increased chance to unhook them selves?!

I get annoyed (just a little) when I’ve run the above combo and the luck offering is salty lips, meaning anyone else on the hook has a 16% chance to unhook themselves, but they’re not even trying at least once to unhook themselves, and others are racing off gens to do a save.

If the luck icon were present it would remind survivors on hook “oh yeah, I’ve got a much better chance of doing this myself”

I wish more global info could be shared, period. But especially about Deliverence and Slippery Meat. To concede one point to the anti-kobe argument, it is extremely annoying to run up to unhook someone only for them to Deliverence off the hook, because... Well, what else are they going to do? Not use their one special perk? That is literally the reason to equip it.

  • I think back to the Chains of Hate teaser, when everyone got it so wrong it was uncanny that the killer was an old West psycho lawman.

  • Uh... None. They're magically enhanced superhumans. Good luck finding 4 random people stuck in the Entities realms to take on the twisted, occult version of Captain America.

  • If you have a killer it works wonders agaisnt, you have to have a killer it's useless against. Does it suck? Yes. Is thems the rules of balance? Yes.

Personally I don’t think about the points, I think about the fact that it would have been more efficient to stay on gens if that survivor was able to successfully unhook themselves.

So all they’ve done is wasted the time of whoever came to unhook them.

What wasted time? It's almost never going to work, so who cares about the tiny percentage of the time it actually does. You may as well pretend you unhooked them slightly more efficiently than pretend they 100% knew they were yeeting themselves into your smouldering face.

  • The obsession mechanic is a way of buffing one survivor for no apparent reason by making it more profitable to keep them alive and leave them alone if the killer is running an Obsession perk, rather than the debuff the Devs seem to think it is.

  • You're ignoring the fact that SWF's biggest asset is going into a trial with a lower, or even completely eliminated, chance of having a potato or selfish teammate.

It's also not balanced, not even close. I consider solo que games a borderline guaranteed 4k as killer, and for good reason. Even the teams that beat me do so out of luck more than skill, and I am a pretty average killer. Solo que is underpowered due to disorganisation, selfishness and potato teammates, who are often not actually potatoes but merely resemble them thanks to the aforementioned disorganisation screwing them over in a multitude of ways. Tactics won't change that.

  • Hopefully next time it gets implimented they start punishing suicides so that the entire system doesn't become a worthless punishment for people with poor server connections.

  • I pushed E to outplay a Legion wilst running straight towards the outside window of a long wall jungle gym, mis-aimed, and went directly into the wall beside the window. The Legion in question had lunged at the window, smacked into the window, and immediately hit me anyway.

  • Kate's flower pony tail. It is the staple of my Kate outfit. Shirt and pants change almost daily, but that hairdo doesn't.

I also like Oni's Minotaur outfit and Deathslingers stock clothing with the shiny Redeemer. And the golden cane on Blight.

  • Use his power for mobility. Easily his biggest strength is the ability to be where he needs to be. With Lethal Rush, you can get guaranteed hits in the open, however you have to predict what the survivor will do instead of reacting to it because his turning is so painful. Think of it as trying to land a ranged attack. However, you should never use it in a small loop or an area with plenty of debris, because they can just run around it and you won't hit them unless they screw up and/or you're running both turning add-ons.

  • So having a completely silent billy suddenly appear right next to you isn't a thing and doesn't work? Then why does it work so well for and against me?

  • I had the same thing, but I got an error code banner that ruined the view

  • At first glance, it seems like a string of bad luck, but a bunch of coincidences makes a pattern.

However, this does remind me of something else: Maybe there's an aura reading bug. OhTofu's been going nuts lately because survivors have been not showing up on aura perks despite not having anything to block them. Maybe it's a new hack. Maybe it's the opposite side of the bug?

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Well SWF can't make their teammates play perfect either. Also, not having mmr is why you'll get a teammate like that. Not because you're playing in solo.

It actually has little to do with MMR. Trying to break a snowball is often the correct play, but such efforts have to be co-ordinated, not just by comms but by knowing one another's behaviour. The best survivor in the world can make a myriad of cock-ups because they assume their teammates are going to do something they have no intention of doing.

  • Dude/ette, #########? How are you getting these? Are you absolutely certain it couldn't have been some insane new glitch hiding all the rest of her perks? Could there have been any potential for a hidden perk to have been revealing your aura?

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1731319#Comment_1731319

If Bond and Kindred were basekit, survivors could be easily nerfed or buffed across the board, rather than the devs having to make the solo/SWF distinction every time the topic gets brought up. Those are the kind of changes I was alluding to when I said SWF needs to be nerfed or be brought to the same level as solo somehow.

The core problem with solo que is a lack of power over your teammates. Seeing what they are doing helps, but watching David charge into a snowball isn't as helpful as it sounds.

  • The problem is... Well, how? Freddy may be strong, but he's not the top of the roster. Nerfing him would have to be more about making him harder to play than genuinely weaker, similar to what they did to Nurse. Maybe making waking up easier to do/last longer, or making snares slow Freddy down to place so they cannot be spammed.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

if they did add the option to not go against swf it would ruin que times for both sides, and make the game much less enjoyable for people who just want to play with there friends.

I'd rather go against a god 4 man swf every 20 games then having 30 minutes que times everygame

Maybe you should stop blaming your losses on swf🤯

Unfortunately, just about every time I lose it is to a SWF team. However, I personally think that the problem is reversed: If that's what was in the trial when I lose, then it means it's absence lead to my victories. If a team has to have a 3-4 person group with strong co-ordinated perks to win against an average (at best) killer, then there's the problem.

  • The problem with that idea is that solo survivors, even with perks like Bond and Kindred, are considerably underpowered. You are basically saying you don't want to get stomped, but do the stomping. That doesn't really solve the core issue.

  • @James4125 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1731145#Comment_1731145

I did. But by that point the game was pointless. The one solo couldn't do gens because she was alone and they wouldn't come out of the corner even to heal her. She was also death hook so had I hooked her the game would have been basically over. They literally killed any fun and competitiveness just so they could deny me points.

You have adequately described an online interaction.
