    Oh no.

Let me just bring myself to any of the other number of maps Boil Over is abusable on.

    Mother's Dwelling

    Temple of Purgation

    Eryie of Crows

    Badham

    Thompson House

    Disturbed Ward

    Father Campbell's Chapel

    Ormond

    Dead Dawg

    Midwich

    Ironworks of Misery

    Coal Tower

Don't worry guys! At this rate (1 map per week) we should have every map fixed by April 27, 2022!

Lol... I mean, you're not wrong here

  • Better late than never I guess, shame Nurse is still stuck with her issues but I imagine a lot of survivors are not too sad about that lol

  • I think it can be a bit tough in solo in particular, I always get there but it can be slow progress when you get farmed by team mates or your team just throws the match in general. I tend to always run BT so I can always get safe saves but for early game I try to focus on getting my gen time out of the way, as for me if I don't pip it is usually because I didn't do enough on gens.

I like to save altruism and chases for later in the match, so I run Windows so I can see what loops have no pallet left in them so I don't get downed fast in chases from running to dead zones.

If you have struggling I do suggest looking at your emblems post game to see where you are not getting your points and make adjustments to your plays to sort that.

  • He isn't that bad and can be one of the strongest killers as far as taking advantage of survivors being caught out of position. Having an insta down power is always going to be decent but of course if survivors play smart he is going to have a rough time with windows etc and be forced to M1.

He is a lot of fun to go against when he isn't being a moronic basement camper

  • Unfortunately this isn't considered taking the game hostage as they will eventually bleed out. Though I get it, this is frustrating and was always going to be an issue with the new Boil Over.

Edit: this change should never have gone live in the first place but as far as RPD goes, they could have simply added a hook to the top floor of the library and that avenue of game mechanic abuse would have been shut down.

Boil Over and BHVRs complete refusal to even acknowledge that it might possibly maybe be a slight problem is seriously making me consider not playing killer anymore.

Even without the bully squads, on a controller it's damn difficult to get someone to a hook if there's not a completely straight shot right to the hook as you get stuck on EVERYTHING.

It can be a frustrating experience as a killer in the best of circumstances. Now we can't even reliably expect to hook anyone, even if the survivors are not purposefully using the perk to make our lives a living Hell...

Which is why I just cant get my head around how this perk change ever made it to live servers!

The LAST thing the game needed from a survivor main perspective, was for even more killers to stop playing as queue times were pretty horrific already at peak times.

  • Honestly I thought it was a big nerf but current Ruin is actually stronger as the regression is very powerful when combined with say Tinkerer or Surveillance. But of course it is completely useless if you are not pushing them off gens to get value...

I still remember the hilariously absurd spectacle of multiple people tapping a gen with old Ruin lol... When I started DBD I couldn't hit any greats so I would opt to always do solo gens so I could tap without the deep shame of it being witnessed by others

  • Not too strong, just EXTREMELY annoying and unfun to go against for me personally. I find spamming knives very annoying and I would rather just go to next match asap that endure a Trickster match

The only thing I agree with in this message is that Boil Over is exploitable. Though, the thing that needs to be killswitched is the RPD badge, since that's the thing that's being exploited using Boil Over.

It is also exploitable on Eyrie and Ormond too, I have had random solo team mates do just that and they didn't bring a map offering, they just got 'lucky' with random map selection. But I am sure they were not intending to abuse the perk anyway... right?

No bleeding out, because they could get up an infinite amount of time due to Soul Guard.

Yesterday i had also a match on disturbed ward, where a survivor with Boil Out always ran to the top floor. Knowing full well that i couldn´t reach a hook from there. Even being the last survivor and with the EGC being active, he refused to run somewhere else than the top floor.

Survivors are abusing this perk and now they don´t like how the killer comunity reacts to it.

Exactly, then they play poor me when killers react to people abusing a broken perk or act as if they didn't bring it with malicious intentions and the killer is just being mean.

I only really play solo and I wont save team mates who bring this perk to obviously abuse it, at least not if I can escape. The killer deserves to get them and I wont risk myself to help people who abuse something that is obviously broken

I mean, look at the map OP is on. Boil Over can absolutely be broken and unfun... on certain maps. For the majority of the maps, it's stronger but it's fine, and Gideon's doesn't have any abusable spots to my knowledge. Maybe one of the gaps down to the second floor if you're lucky, but it's not a guarantee and there are hooks down there if you manage to get the killer to drop there anyway.

OP is right that this is childish. Boil Over isn't OP, it's abusable on some maps, and there's no reason to force someone to bleed out just for bringing it with intent to use it legitimately.

Yes of course and I imagine they always ran Boil Over and didn't just start using it as they know it is completely broken and easy to abuse right?

Give me a break, the OP brought the perk in the hope of bullying a killer then felt hard done by when it backfired and the killer made them pay for it. We all know this perk is broken and should never have gone to live servers so stop the gaslighting please, it is just annoying and patronising.

Thats why I started using Iron grasp and agitation when I play killer, the game is messed up on both sides but the thing is I didn't deserve it this game, I was literally playing normally, I don't bring it for the 25% fall increase, I bring it for the killer mobility down and my wiggle speed standard

Yes of course you brought it totally innocently and had no intentions of abusing it. I am sure you were a Boil Over user before they made the perk completely broken right?

Oh and I cannot take it seriously when someone suggests killers just start running Iron Grasp/Agi etc at high MMR, this is a laughable suggestion.

You planned to bully a killer and it backfired, let's be real here.

  • Survivors know this perk is broken and just plain unfun and unfair to bring, so if you still choose to bring it regardless then yeah I totally understand why this killer did it and I would do it too. My streamer friend was running it too but he had to take it off as he got hard tunnelled every game as soon as the killer realised he had it.

If you want to bring something knowing it results in unfun games for the killer, expect unfun tactics in response (I am a survivor main too btw).

People aren't playing nurse as much atm because when they re-did the code to make her smoother and have less bugs - there's still a couple of issues that need to be ironed out, mainly surrounding the 2nd blink bug which I imagine will be fixed in a hotfix. Potentially tomorrow

On the topic of Blight, can I just pose a question to my fellow thread goers

Is Blight really as hard to play as everyone says he is?

Because from my experience playing him as well as seeing other people play him, he doesn't seem that hard at all. His power's hurtbox feels extremely generous and couple that with movement speed addons, a survivors time to react is severely hindered

Also the issue of perk variety - As much as facing a good nurse is frustrating at least Nurse players don't all run the same 4/5 perks. Many do, but you'll also see Nurses running off-meta, fun or otherwise perks as well.

Well I am the first to admit that I am far better at countering Nurse because I main her (though I don't play killer at all at present as not enjoying it). But you are right in that pretty much every Blight runs the same build, same addons and plays in the same sweaty way.

I get why people want to play a strong killer like Blight as getting stomped playing weaker killers gets old fast. But I find myself audibly groaning when I see the killer is Blight...

  • Yeah I am pretty sick to death of seeing Blights too, I don't even see Nurse very often any more either. Just Blight... over and over

  • The thing is Bubba is an incredibly fun killer to play against and he can be pretty strong if you catch survivors even slightly out-positioned. It is a shame that he is often used to play in the most unfun, low skill and boring ways imaginable. I keep meaning to spend a good bit of time playing a lot of Bubba myself and will get to him eventually

  • @AngyKiller said:

Umm..Not to be pedantic but one 'r'. Fury.

A 'Spirit Furry' is something else entirely. 😁

Oh god, dying here lmao 🤣

  • It should never have gone live in the first place, at the very least they should have put a hook at the top of the library and this would prevent this exploiting of a broken perk. I had team mates in solo who sent the killer to RPD and abused it in this way, I escaped and didn't even try to save them at the end

  • It was completely pointless and may as well not have even been done for the impact it had. COH is still completely broken

Hit validation? That's gotta be a joke. Can you show an actual dev post stating as such because those long range killer hits through windows say otherwise.

Also I thought the new Boil Over was getting tested still.

    Boons in general?

Lol... if you dont know hits are validated favouring survivors now, well I cant be bothered searching through posts etc if you dont know this is the case. Boil Over went live, beyond all belief they actually thought this was fine to go to live servers. COH in particular is completely broken and while many maps did get less safe pallets, there are still too many of them that can easily join strong loops together if a survivor has half a brain.

  • @MikaKim said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2780646#Comment_2780646

No survivor hasn't, not in an meaningful way, in some time. Unless you can point to something specific?

Well just in recent times, Boil Over and Boons just to name recent massive buffs that make the game even less fun for killers. Oh and hit validation favouring survivors over killers, along with massive buffs to maps like The Game that were once kind of killer sided or at least more balanced than others

  • Not killer nerfs so much as survivors being buffed, which is frustrating as a survivor main as my queues are so long lately as nobody wants to play killer at peak times

  • You will not notice the difference between 120-144-165hz and while there is a way you can force it above 120fps you break the physics of the game so it doesn't make sense. Be happy with 120fps/hz, it is a massive improvement over the default

Unless you were a Huntress, Oni, or Blight, in which case it was a nightmare.

And Nurse, was not much fun for Nurse either

  • Glad it is gone, personally hated that map for both sides

  • As a Nurse main myself who has put probably close to 500 hours into Nurse alone I think there are several reasons.

First and foremost is that she is not that hard to be able to use mechanically but she is extremely tough to get decent with. Good survivors will bully you mercilessly and you have to have thick skin and keep pushing through as being bullied continuously is very disheartening. Sure you will not have much trouble dealing with W gamers who move predictably but you will quickly find yourself facing survivors with brains and it takes a LONG time to deal with their mindgames sufficiently.

Another issue is that I think she can be absolutely exhausting and frustrating to play well. I cant think of any other killer I play that takes so much mental energy and tilts me as much as Nurse. Even though I win almost every match it can often not feel like fun, I guess it could be because it is very mentally draining against good survivors and small mistakes cost Nurse dearly compared to other killers, as her cooldown is pretty brutal and only double recharge/range negates that somewhat.

But the biggest issue is the first, you get bullied a LOT learning her and I think for most people it just gets too much and they give up as it doesn't feel worth the stress

  • As a survivor main, I am just going to dismiss this as trolling

  • I stopped playing killer completely at this point, though don't think that survivor is necessarily a bed of roses if you play solo either. Killers are sweaty as hell and I don't think I have been hard camped and tunnelled out of matches more than I ever have recently.

I get why killers are doing it but it does make the game very unfun on the survivor side plus killers spending most of their match standing in front of hooks is not really a fun game either.

I sometimes wish I could communicate to killers that ultimately I don't care if I don't survive, I want chases until there are no pallets left on the map and then I could care less if they kill me. Not to be camped on first hook and tunnelled out of the game after that...

  • A cheater just held a well known German streamer hostage for the last hour and a half. That was one of 4 cheaters on his stream so far....

They really need to disable the DC penalty as cheaters are holding games hostage and you get punished for leaving unless you want to be trapped in a match. Either way you cannot play the game

  • I don't care about them in the slightest but others seem to so if someone enjoys them then whatever I guess

  • @Nathan13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2774741#Comment_2774741

I’m sorry but running boil over is no reason to tunnel someone out. Not everyone is using it to be a bully or make the killers match unfun. And it’s not as if many people are gonna use it cause it’s only good on RPD anyway.

Why not? I mean tunnelling is a valid play style as is using Boil Over and neither is fun for the other side. It most definitely is being abused already so I understand killers playing in an unfun way in response. Not that tunnelling etc didn't exist before but it seems this perk is a sure fire way to guarantee you get hard tunnelled

  • Been watching a streamer friend between games and he was running Boil Over but had to take it off as pretty much every killer hard tunnelled him out of the game once they realised he had it lol. Honestly seems pretty fair though, I guess the killers figure if survivors will do something that make the match unfun for them then they will play in an unfun way in return.

I think we will see this happen a lot more, run Boil Over I guess you can expect you will likely be hard tunnelled

Sure there is. Don't be a bot and just hold W. Thinking it'll work like it will against most of the roster.

Please upload your plays and link to your videos, as I have to see the ONLY person who can consistently outplay high DPI flicks. I have yet to see anyone with countless hours in DBD who can do this for any length of time, so I am honoured to be acquainted with someone who arguably must be the best player in DBD. I look forward to your videos!

I had to test this, so i started a match as killer with the envelope. Got 11 hooks after an agonizing long match (partly due to not reaching the hook) aaaaand less bloodpoints than a dead survivor.

    This definetly impacts queues.

My queues are agonisingly slow, first games I had today I had 2 killers in a row DC. This really isn't helping matters at all either

  • Except there is no way to avoid that of course... well very limited options to and with flicks the chance to react is very small

  • Honestly I can't believe this actually went live, with the already horrendous survivor queues they are only going to get worse now killers have even more frustrating ######### to deal with

  • All I can say is I am just so sick to death of Blight and it seems that many of the random solo team mates I have are too, as they often just kill themselves first hook. Just finished a Blight game and everyone just threw to get out of the match... the problem is every match is Alchemist Ring and it is very unfun to go against as it has no downside and no real counter

  • I am just so sick to death of seeing him but I understand why people are playing him. It would be great if more killers were viable so I didn't get Blight every second match as I am so over him at this point

  • For me I HATE going against Twins and Trickster, Pinhead and Artist also quite annoying too. Starting to get sick of Blight as I see him all the time and every damn one is running Alchemist Ring. Not a big fan of Nemesis either but I will take him every time over Twins or Trickster.

I am always happiest when I see Bubba or other M1 killers as for survivor looping or smart LOS mind game plays (as with PP head or Nurse) are what I enjoy most. This makes Artist very boring for me personally as it encourages W key gaming - no skill boring play.

I like Nurse or Dr but I understand why others don't and I also don't mind Hag but others hate her.

  • Yeah no complaints from me either, I like events and generally don't complain about them as much as I ######### about everything else lol

  • @Chimp said:

I think the worst one is coldwind. All the corn maps look bad, are hard to play on for most killers and for some reason, anytime I play as blight or oni, this game can't resist sending me there.

Sad thing is Coldwind used to be my favourite, I loved the golden skied nights in the Coldwind realm as it had such a great ambience. But the remakes of the maps ruined it for me, I really hate how they made them daytime maps and totally destroyed the horror vibe for me. I far prefer night time settings, so I now prefer MacMillan (except Suffocation 3 gen Pit)

  • @fcb said:

sometimes it spawns in the corner and you have to be really close to the corner to hear it.

Yeah it can spawn right on the edges of the map, which doesn't happen on other maps so it can be really hard to find

  • I think the Boil Over meta will be short lived as unless they come in as a bully squad the use is going to be very situational and most will return to the usual meta we all know (and hate lol). It is obviously strong in the right situations but I think when survivors get limited value it will become a rare meme nobody runs most of the time

  • Turn end game chat of, do not concern yourself with their opinions. Sad but true reality.

  • Nurse really gets screwed hard by 'aim dressing' (auto aim, lets face it) and having not tried her since the update, it sounds like not much has changed or improved there.

Disappointed to read this experience. Hopefully it goes better for me or I will just keep playing survivor and suffer horrendous queue times and questionable solo team mates

It doesn't help however that the game itself is a mess right now.

Yeah I cant argue with that but it still doesn't mean I cant have fun either

  • Yeah why not, I am always happy for something new to shake things up and it if means points and free cosmetics then I am happy with that.

I think sometimes people can be a bit too miserable about events etc and I say that as a generally miserable bastard myself lol

  • They were very fast to perma ban people bringing up the issue I will say that much

  • It is barely even a nerf and I feel they should have gone a LOT further with nerfing it

  • I just find him extremely irritating and worth taking the 5 minute penalty to avoid
