Maybe if the community didn't make sexual jokes about it we'd still have it, but I can't expect any level of maturity anymore.

Hellraiser is BDSM-inspired horror though? Like, the full line involves tasting their pleasures?

  • I really, really hope that's temporary, yeah. Was about to make a thread myself. Is there any chance we could get official word on if it's intended to be permanent or not?

  • Agreed...250k bp are roughly 5 level 50 bloodwebs. A good killer game with BBQ and BPS can be 100k (got my 100k bp challenge in this level of the archives done in a single game)...so in optimal conditions that's 3 killer games...all for reaching grade 1 or whatever it's called. That's criminally low for how grindy this game is.

If they'd be willing to compensate for the time spent as an unpaid entertainer for their swf users then certainly that could be worth consideration

And just think - it's per killer! So if your baseline level of MMR is too high (as mine seems to be) I get to have "fun" for a night or two per killer until I'm allowed to have fun again! Can't wait!

so maybe you can tell witch gen i need to fix couse i can't find it and i have tired many times

edit: nvm it has to be bugged then couse i did that one many times and didt got the achivment after escape

It's specifically the gen that spawns right near the exit gates in the main room. There can and often is two gens in that main entrance hall, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom - only the bottom one counts. I can't comment if it's bugged or not, just that the very first time I got that map on live I did that gen with a friend and we both got the achieve.

  • I forget where it was said, but the line "we don't take killer powers into account when designing maps" was said in reference to RCPD...that alone is just a horrible horrible philosophy for this game. I also have a very strong urge to just not play when I'm on that map, I got the achievement for it as a survivor, my only draw to play it out on either side is gone - plus if I let the survivors escape then more people get the achievement so more people without a draw to play on the map...

  • I am most certainly not going to complain about that map being out of rotation. Maybe spend a good year or two fumigating it...just in case...

  • I have also complained about it on every test, and am undoubtedly going to despise my first month with it on come next week. JOY.

  • The last test, the one that was supposedly exceeding expectations, I played a killer I barely ever play and got steamrolled by survivors I would have struggled to play against on my main killers. This tells me my MMR baseline is way too high for me. Very much not looking forward to needing to play all 22 killers for multiple nights getting obliterated just to maybe have fun later. Overall very unhappy about this going live for good.

Survivor I frankly don't care enough either way, I don't solo queue often and my SWF group don't play seriously at all so we didn't see much of a shift.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Many Killers will most likely have boosted Ratings, because the average Survivor is not really good at the game. So it is quite easy to win most of the time. And each win against Survivors who are below someones Level will increase the Rating.

So I guess, many Killers will play at higher Ratings when SBMM drops (and will flood the forums after 3 games how unfun DBD has become..), but this should settle. Expect to get your ass beaten a few times when SBMM drops, but it should adjust over time.

I would be fine with this if it was one and done, but nope, gotta get that ass beat on every single killer. Individually. That's my biggest problem with it. I know I'm boosted, I accept that and welcome being put in my place, but I do not want to go through it 21 times. That sounds absolutely miserable and I'm dreading it immensely.

*cries in left for dead?* yeah same

edit: can't remember if its left behind or left for dead, doesn't matter achievement hard

Oh yeah - my wife and I helped each other with that one before EGC was a thing, can't imagine doing it now with hatch closing forcing EGC and no more gens allowed.

  • My achievement ######### self wouldn't be happy if I didn't keep my 100% status in DbD...

You´ll get nice and fair matches. Not what we have now.

My personal experience the few games I got to play on MMR the last test was not that. I was burning through my slinger cakes because I was leveling him up having not played him, got destroyed because my base MMR was too high for my skill on a character I don't play much at all, and stopped playing until the test was over. I cannot wait until my sub-optimal Wraith and Legion are completely miserable to play for the first few nights as I "balance out" - and since it's individual beyond the baseline, which I know is too high for me on a killer I don't play, I'm going to get to do that night or two of utter terrible gameplay _per killer_. Sure after that month of misery I'd have good matches, but will I even want to play at that point?

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2468258#Comment_2468258

Maybe your rating was to high? It should lower the more you play with it activated.

Mostly I don't want to play a game knowing I'm going to be punished for playing the game in a non-optimal way for however many games it takes to get my less viable killers MMR to a place where I'm allowed to have fun with them again. That sounds extremely not fun and punishing. Do I agree my MMR will likely be boosted? Absolutely, I'm not as good a killer as the current system claims I am. But I'm very much not willing to play 5-10 games of my favorite less powerful killers where I get destroyed just to maybe have fun again later. That's the part about this system that I'm dreading, and depending on how slow it adjusts may kill my enjoyment of killer entirely.

  • This is by far the most balanced DS has ever been, I'm not about to call it stupidly broken now. Most times I only see it if the unhooked person actively chases me down to get to use it, which at that point they're not being helpful to their team anyway so it's a win win for me.

  • My PC doesn't ever have issues on any other map in the game, but it chugs on RPD half the time (low graphics). The other half it's fine, but that doesn't fix the fact it's a genuine struggle to not just DC when I see that's where we went. It's extremely unfun to play, and as I've never played a RE game I have no knowledge of the map to make traversing it anything but a total slog. Visually it's amazing, and I will absolutely credit the art team for that, but the gameplay is by far the worst in the game. I'd take The Game any day over RPD, and that's saying something.

  • Agreed. I'm 100% ok with the rebalancing of the mechanic of pallet stun vs hit, but holy crap is it frustrating when the game says "yep, you got it, play the injured and splash sounds and splash blood on them" and then have the server deny it. Deny it or hit the survivor, don't make me think I've got it and then find out after I don't.

  • This is perhaps the weirdest bait thread I've seen, so you get points for that I guess...

  • What I find extremely worrying in the Blight argument is that you have the fact people generally seem to consider him fun to go against as long as he's not running the full meta build, but then people complaining about Blight himself when they do run the meta build.

You know why this worries me? This is exactly what happened with Billy. Instasaw made him too strong, people agreed with this and wanted it changed. But a lot of people didn't make the distinction and said that it was Billy who was unfun, when in truth generally most people saw Billy as a fun and dynamic killer to go against.

Add on pass happens to Billy and they slap a big old overheat on him...and now it's a genuine shock to queue into a match to see it's against Billy. I can't remember the last time I've seen him, I've seen way more Plagues and she's supposedly one of the lowest pick rates in the game.

Now we have this same thing with Blight. The perk combo of Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer is extremely strong on him, and blighted crow and alch ring are very, very strong add ons that do ultimately overtune him on a good Blight player. But at the same time you have people saying Blights not running this build are fun to go against. I've never, not once, gotten salt about my BBQ/End/Fury/Nurses' no add ons build that I've ran on him long enough to get just shy of 1300 lethal rush hits on him according to the DBD stat website. Sometimes people don't like how I played if the rescuer hid constantly or something along those lines, but no one has ever once complained about the build.

So, level your complaints at what is actually the problem. Blighted Crow/Alch ring are too strong on him, and Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer is too strong on high mobility killers. Those are the issues at hand. I don't want another Billy, where a killer who in their base form and not running a total meta build is considered fun to go against but gets gutted because of a vocal minority leveling their complaints at the killer, rather than the few things that are actually problematic on the killer.

  • I did it by being in a SWF where everyone took turns 99%-ing gens for the person who had the challenge active to run around and pop them. Was the only way we managed it at all, I'm glad they've relaxed on those a little.

I honestly don't have a problem with addons (I actually run some yellows and greens myself), but when every killer runs the same combination with the same 2~3 slowdowns build on a S tier killer, it's upsetting. It's the same problem that happened with Nurse using omega blinks and Billy using instasaw.

I personally hate the add on system, just like I hate the item and add on system for survivors. I think having limited use items to make the grind of the game infinite is ultimately frustrating design, and the last thing I want is to run an objectively strong add on and become reliant on it. Prior to Wraith’s last buffs I ran Windstorm maybe once in every 30-40 Wraith games purely as a special treat because any more than that I’d be reliant on them. Back when Doctor got reworked I groaned and actively argued in feedback about their “add ons allow you to build your power” because I hate killers being reliant on add ons. Fortunately they decided to make backwards skill checks baseline so he got SOMETHING at least without add ons.

Trapper remains the one exception because he’s so reliant on a bag add on it’s painful to not play him with at least a brown one. But that just makes me play him a lot less than I otherwise would because I don’t want to grind BP on trapper for all time.

Same deal on the survivor end - my friends I play with like to joke that my survivor inventories are a “vault.” What goes in never comes out unless I need it for an archive. I don’t like losing items and the add on rework back when to cause add ons to go away for survivors gave them the same issue I have with killers.

So ultimately it’s not me trying to take the moral high road with not using add ons as much as me recognizing getting too used to add ons could ruin that killer for me when I run out of them, and I very much don’t want that.

  • This is why I try not to use add Ons just in general…unless it’s trapper. My Blight build is BBQ, Nurse’s Calling, and End/Fury. No add ons unless I need to sweat (most recently when I lost the latter 3 perks to Clown’s perks for the archives.). No slowdowns, I either zoom fast and win or the survivors zoom faster and win. Makes for a dynamic game and I to date have not had anyone complain at me for the build or playstyle.

Not saying there aren’t scummy Blights out there but I can say there’s a few fun ones. The ruin/tinker/undying combo is just not fun by comparison, I like feeling like I had a chance to lose, you know?

  • That's way more complicated than the idea of removing perk tiers, which cuts the grind in the game into a third of what it is currently. Much easier and doesn't only benefit one side. (Also for weirdos like me who don't use other survivors' teachables on their survivors I dislike the idea of needing to swap my perk loadout every time I want to play someone new)

  • I remember they said something about skins not being able to affect how powers look, but then again they also said they couldn't get hallucinatory Doctors to be wearing the cosmetics the doc had on and that's been a thing for a while now...

Not intended as a lecture, more of a "this is business as usual and you shouldn't really worry about it". Y'know, so people don't feel so down and come to terms with it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2435414#Comment_2435414

That's why I added original Freddy, whose power was completely changed. He's essentially a brand new character at this point. Nobody else can play him at this point, not even the people who paid for him.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2435264#Comment_2435264

I also added original Freddy, dunno why it didn't show up for you guys.

I brought up old Freddy in my response though - it's a very different thing than what we have now. Freddy Krueger is still in the game. A big NoES fan can, on November 18th, discover DbD and see Freddy Krueger in the game, and buy and play him. A Stranger Things fan who discovers DbD on November 18th cannot do the same with their franchise. That's the difference I'm seeing.

Reworks of characters are a reality in any game, and while some may prefer the old style of character that doesn't remove the character from the game for future people. Old Freddy was unique and fun, but Freddy Krueger is still going to be purchasable for a new player on November 18th. Stranger Things isn't. That is the difference I'm seeing and why I am conceptually ok with how Old Freddy is gone and why I am not ok with ST being lost to time.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2434667#Comment_2434667

It's not the first thing that was removed from the game, nor will it be the last.

    • Legacy Prestige is no longer attainable.
    • Moonlight offerings are gone.
    • Lower-rarity map offerings no longer spawn.
    • Splinters were deleted.

    This happens in every game.

Normally I agree with your points, but I think there’s a big difference between all of your examples and what’s happening here.

Right now I can go tell a friend who hasn’t played DbD that they should give it a chance - you can play as all of these classic horror icons and a few more modern ones as well. If that person happens to be a massive fan of a Nightmare on Elm Street, I can bring them in and say that hey, this game has Freddy. They’re not going to care that this is Freddy 2.0, they’re going to care that they can play Freddy Krueger.

Come November 17th, if I go up to a friend and give my speech and they say “oh, I think I heard that Stranger Things is in that, I’m a big fan of that, how’s that content?” I have to tell them they literally cannot play as those characters unless they borrow my account (which iirc is frowned upon in the rules outside of KYF). I don’t get to tell them “oh yeah they’re in the game. They had an old version but they got reworked but they’re still there!” - I have to flat out say that they literally cannot play as them.

This game is a hard enough sell to new players as is with the insane grind and steep learning curve - legacy characters, because that’s really what we’re dealing with - are not healthy for the longevity of the game.

Plus I personally despise the “######### you, got mine” attitude so I can’t feel good about knowing I will always have the ST chapter despite never watching an episode, but a major ST fan discovering DbD in 2022 can never have them.

At absolute best I can say the survivors are ultimately skins, but Demo and Hawkins are gameplay unique to them and cannot be experienced by people coming in in November. And I cannot feel good about that.

  • For me it's the fact that licensed chapters you must buy with money. Original chapters can be earned through playing (a lot, but it is doable).

Combine this fact with the fact new players come November are going to be told "yes, welcome to this game. You can never have one of the killers and two of the survivors, and even if you had joined sooner you could have only gotten them with more up front investment"...it makes it so I can't recommend the game at all anymore to new people. "Hey, yeah, the grind is ridiculous for new players, there's a harsh learning curve, and you need to spend $12 (not counting the pending sale) extra to immediately buy this chapter or you lose out forever" is an impossible sell, nor do I wish to try to sell people on it. And after November telling them they can literally never have some of the content? It's absurd.

I'm not going to say I thought the Stranger Things chapter was the best chapter the game ever had, and I'm not going to say that about any licensed chapter. But it's the fact that licensed chapters have an end date where anyone coming after that end date just is forced to live without it - it genuinely does put an expiration date on the game. I've never been one to say the game is dying, but you make the game a much harder sell by having what's effectively legacy characters.

  • Hawkins remains my favorite indoor map because it forced different play. Back before I could loop at all it was a nice break from the gameplay I couldn't do very well, and as killer, if I had to get an indoor map, I wanted it to be Hawkins.

Favorite moments have to be figuring out how to Blight effectively on it and any time I pulled off the "try to trick people into falling down the hole directly into your arms" trick.

It also was one of the best maps to get certain archive challenges done on both sides (Killer "Adept" and pallets being the two obvious ones I used it for) and even if I didn't like the map I'd lament losing it from that alone.

Very very sad to see game content be removed, and I'm sincerely hoping Netflix and BHVR can work out the license in the future. Less content is bad, period.

  • @FancyMrB said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2433923#Comment_2433923

The grind and new player learning curve is something that really needs to be addressed for sure. I joined in 2018 and if it wasn't for my friends encouraging me to play I would have dropped this game my first week in. Even back then there was so much to learn... now? Holy crap. I can't imagine starting the game now.

I appreciate a lot of what bhvr does. I know they are a hard working bunch doing their best. This just seems so... dirty? Sleazy? A whole chapter being discontinued and all we get is a tweet saying 'better hurry up and get these characters before you can't... oh and the epic map? bye bye!'

I don't mean to sound extra or like a Karen but I want a reason why this is happening and to be reassured this won't happen again. Not just a 'buy before you miss out' tweet... :<

I mean, the loose why is that they're losing the license. Beyond that there's not much they're saying and probably not much more they could say even if they wanted to. Really the only chapters this couldn't happen to are the original ones - any licensed character has the potential to go now, we've seen it happen once, why not more?

It's a harsh reality to have found ourselves in and I'm very much not happy about it. I don't think BHVR had the final say here, but that just means any of the other licenses could pull out if they chose to as well. Just not a good situation all around.

  • I had already been considering learning Demo better, this just cements it.

  • @FancyMrB said:

It is very sad and worrisome... bottom line, it is not healthy for this game.

I can't imagine being a new player, seeing people play Demo, and not being able to play him :< It is legacy skins all over again but worse.

I have never been a fan of exclusives and they just turned all ST characters into them... it doesn't sit right with me.

On top of it now I fear of other chapters being lost. If this is possible then I would think bhvr should only do original content going forward unless a license is 100% guaranteed to stay in the game no matter what.

Legacy skins are one thing, legacy characters are another, I very much agree.

It's been hard to wholeheartedly recommend DbD for a new player for a long time purely because of how high the grind barrier to entry is as well as the experience curve always getting higher as the game stays out longer - without the ability to eventually obtain every character available in the game I don't think I can recommend it at all really anymore. That's not hyperbole, that's recognizing that I'm otherwise suggesting a game with locked content.

  • It's been my favorite inside map since it was released, I'm going to be very sad to see it go. Not a huge fan of indoor maps but Hawkins was always a better thing to see than the other indoors.

Regardless, losing content forever is objectively bad imo

  • I'm an achievement ######### and have kept myself at 100% as best I could. 1.3k hours 100% achievements, first 100% was when Oni came out at probably 650. ######### Taking One For the Team was the worst one, always will be imo.

This is pretty much why. I was neutral on the idea initially, maybe slightly against because of the audience of FNAF trending younger at the time it came out. But the sheer inundation of threads and posts and tweets just spamming and finding any and all hoops to jump through for their logic just turned me completely against the idea out of spite.

There are, in the announcements. I can't upload them to the forums however.

They're audio clips of the main survivor theme, lasting less than a second. Most likely indicating specific notes. Hint at a specific theme, most likely.

Ooh, this is where I can actually help.

First clip: C. Specifically C3 on a keyboard.

    Second Clip: A#/Bb below C3.

    Third Clip: I'm struggling a little bit but I think it's C#/Db above C3.

Fourth Clip: C#/Db again, with a brief dip to I think the octave below it? I don't have perfect pitch, just relative pitch and the low note is so fast I'm struggling to keep it in my head.

Edit: well crap, just saw the wave files. And here I thought I was being helpful :'(

Gonna be honest, I have no idea with this one.

I would be more willing to read hard into the fact it's 8 8th notes if not for the fact Twitter only has two musical note emojis. But then again, does 8 8 mean anything to anyone?

  • I only had time for 3 games last night, all on Slinger who is a killer I didn't touch almost at all until the anniversary event, when I prestiged him and got 50 cakes on him. Want to burn through the cakes to prestige him again, so been playing him a lot recently, but not much beyond that.

    Game 1: RCPD.

Game 2: Hawkins against a fairly weak group, they got 3 gens done because Claudette actually did gens while everyone else just kind of died. 3k with key escape.

Game 3: Ormond, ran into a 3 man SWF DwightSquad who were very clearly there to meme, not to play. Claudette saw this and DCed. Wound up just letting them meme since I'm not inclined to ruin others' fun and they were giving me ample opportunity to ruin their experience in their memeing and frankly it was the hardest I've laughed in the game in a while. 0k with DC points.

The only real takeaway I got from that experience is my queues got longer. Used to a very fast queue lately and these took a while. Pulled out the old "watch Youtube while I wait for a lobby" situation. Going to need to try my mains out and see where they wind up, but my Slinger MMR, despite playing him way more than anyone else the last week or two, doesn't seem to be stupidly high at least. Which tracks, I'm not a great Slinger.

  • Correct - 2 people on the gen are technically less efficient than those two people on different gens. There's a slight penalty to speed for every survivor on it so you don't go at full on quadruple speed when all four survivors are on the same gen. It goes very fast then, don't get me wrong, but not a full on quadruple speed.

  • I would love to use the weapon on the new Blight skin with my existing Blight cosmetics, but the fact it's locked completely removes any interest I had in it. Unlinked I'd be interested. Can agree it's actively hurting their sales at least here...

  • On the killer side, Hysteria. I can't really see any good use for it. Lethal Pursuer I'm pleasantly surprised by actually, and Eruption I can see build ideas for even if they won't be sweaty tryhard builds.

On the survivor side I don't use teachables and have no real attachment to Leon or Jill so...take your pick.

  • I’ve played a lot of PHead and I’ve been grinding the Nemesis achievement, and I have to say I think Nemesis’ tentacle beats a no add on PHead shockwave in most scenarios once Nemesis is T2. It’s shorter range but comes out faster, doesn’t hurt your turning as you aim like Phead’s, you can flick at the moment you release while PHead locks in place, and if you miss the survivor you break the pallet to let you keep chasing as opposed to recovering, breaking the pallet, and only then being able to move on. PHead only wins in needing 2 consistently to down rather than potentially 3, and being able to hit through walls which while powerful, is situational.

the one thing I think people underestimate is Nemesis’ power prioritizes the hit over the pallet. I don’t think any other power that can interact with both does this. Chainsaws, shred…if it’s a toss up which it hits, the pallet is always chosen. Nemesis can chase someone, let them throw the pallet down, and act like a huntress to down them as they throw it. No other pallet breaking power does that and it turns it into a win win for him - he either takes the health state or infection, or if he misses slightly or waits too long and they dead hard, he still gets the pallet for free. I’ve seen so many people not realize he doesn’t prioritize pallets and go down very unintelligently as a result, giving me opportunities huntress would love to get.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 27
