"in cod lobbies" the second you bring up this argument you lose.

have you considered that there is a world outside of cod lobbies filled with wonderful people and creations and if you went outside and laid on some grass you would come to appreciate the beauty of nature and joy of life and wonders that you can feel when you take a step back away from being chronically online surrounded by anonymous people being their worst selves and quite simply speak to a loved one in person

I don't understand how this explanation makes him "lose" his argument.

Your logic still applies to the ongoing online issue with DBD and that is what he was comparing the cod lobbies to.

  • I wonder if they could still do friday the 13th chapter but instead of Jason, they could use Roy Burns from Part 6 and include a map not related to camp crystal like(like Pinehurst or Forest Green) since technically Victor doesn't own those properties.

I know it wouldn't be the same, but it would be better than nothing and it could serve as a placeholder until Jason is free to come.

I don't know about the cost of a cable if you already own an SSD, but the drive itself is expensive if you don't already have one. I got a Samsung T5 SSD; it only holds 1TB and it's currently listed at $130. I chose that one because it was the affordable option.

Ah, never mind what I said then. I guess in fact you do need a ssd for the cable to work. Oh well.

Still, I just wanted to see the thread for future reference in case this issue is not going worked on anytime soon. Thanks again for finding it.

Lol so it isnt about the game and its mechanics, its about flashy killers from that one movie i saw one time, what a joke

The killers is what elevates the horror experience of the game. Mechanics don't mean squat if the suspense is not there.

Has it ever register to you that most of the original killers they've released so far just suck? Or do all you care about is the skins?

  • @TragicSolitude said:

People have fixed the frame drop issues on PS4 and PS4 Pro by using an SSD (internal or external) . It is an expensive fix, however.

Edit: This is probably the specific thread you're talking about

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/264145/i-accidentally-fixed-dbd-optimisation-on-ps4-pro/p1

It was also talked about in the console optimization thread. I posted a bunch of before and after videos in this specific post

That's exactly it, thanks! Are you sure it's expensive? From what I seen on that thread, the SSD cable is around $10 I believe.

"Mark my words" bruh c'mon licenses come and go in other games all the time.

Can you give some examples? Not that I think you're wrong or anything, it's just that from my experience of playing and following some games with license content, hearing about them getting removed from the game is a first for me.

It makes me now wonder how older games like MKX can still have characters like Predator or Leatherface available for purchase.

  • I'm glad we still get to keep the characters that we bought as I just started to main Byers recently. The only downside to this for me is that they probably won't be able to get his necessary actor to do his voice besides using Steve's and I was hoping they can pursue that one day.

Atmosphere wise, Hawkins was my favorite and it's kind of devastating to see it go. I'm sure myself and others can manage without it since it's not like it was always 100% getting one in match, but the game will feel a bit weird without it.

  • I'm pretty confident it's pinhead. There's a reason why they posted the bell emjoi along with the TV showing a glimpse of the red flower. Both signify the summoning of the cenobites. As referenced in the hellraiser movie.

  • The fact that most people here have to keep responding with comments "who?" to names like Hellraiser and Candyman, while the rest is so desperate for the next chapter to bring Springtrap really tells you a lot. I probably should've took a hint when I was playing in a swf group and one of them didn't even know who ash williams was, while another called the franchise trash.

I know it's not their fault they weren't born around that time period, but if you seriously think FNAF or other recent gaming franchise is the pinnacle of horror, then either you didn't bother making time to watch the classics or you have no taste in horror whatsoever.

They never directly lied of course but they did alot of things.

For silent hill chapter for example, they did alot of things to make us think its candyman.

For example, they made posts like ,,This weekend is gonna BEE fantastic" with Candy emojis or something like that.

I'm pretty sure that's because it was originally meant to be candyman to coincide with the release of the movie, but because COVID caused the delay and so they decided to release pyramid head instead.

  • Imagine if they swerved us and it was the girl from the ring.

  • I like license better. Originals are a hit or miss for me. Most of the time they're disappointing because they're not always scary.(You can add the trickster to that list.)

The twins was interesting and unique, but that should've been Chucky with someone else.

  • Something else I caught on about those audio files. The letters we got so far is I S A R E, right?

Could that also be hinting at Dies Irae? A classic musical piece that the producers used in the shining. And then later on also inspired DBD's theme? I'm not saying the next chapter could be The Shining, it's just a thought I had.

    New Theory!

Sair in portugese means "GO OUT" or something like that.

There's a horror movie called "GET OUT" which is similar.

So the killer is clearly the villain from that movie.

Great movie, but who would be the killer be and how would the powers work?

I do love to see chris washington as a survivor though.

The dbd twitter account confirmed the H wasn't a letter and the H has been there since Chains of Hate ptb.

It doesn't mean they're not hinting at it. They've been posting other letters the past few days, why all of sudden is this one irrelevant now? Even if it's just about the dead dawg saloon being disabled, they could've took a another screenshot of the map without the H, but they didn't.

  • I'm about 60% sure it's candyman. Tony Todd has been acknowledging the gaming community on twitter for quite a bit.

  • Part of me thinking Spiral, but to me that screams legendary skins for Amanda and Tapp rather than a chapter.

I think most people theories involving springtrap or candyman are more likely.

It looks like it reads Happy (rubbed out) Circus to me.

And Behaviour is posting clown emojis on twitter so idk, anybody's guess is as good as mine.

I haven't seen the new Pennywise movies and it's been awhile since I seen the original, but did the movies involve a circus by any chance?

    SPIR(al?)

    SPRI?

    Oh boy....

Can anyone check if it's like this on the actual sign?

    Good eye.

Makes you wonder if they added that on purpose to clearly mess with us since they know Springtrap and Spiral involves those same letters.

  • So basically like 70 percent of matches are killers running devour hope/noed that can either end the match prematurely or put it in a 15-20 minute excruciating totem hunt, but yet people are complaining over a map being too hard to scout or taking up too much time, even though it's clearly simple to learn the areas by just playing it more often.

    Got it.

  • @ImBrakingBike said:

I had a great match against a stealthy Myers, the long corridors and all the corners made it feel like a legit horror game. I didn't like the map before that, but now I like it a little bit more. I sure hope I get another match like that one again. I wouldn't mind if the map was divided in two as someone suggested, but I don't want it gone

This. I had that same feeling when I was playing against a Myers on the Hawkins map.

The problem is, most people here don't look at this or want a horror game anymore. Survivor and killer mains want easy plays and this map doesn't favor neither. That's why they're always hating on license maps or guest killers in general.

I'd say keep them coming. It makes matches more interesting rather than working on boring ass generators for 10-15 minutes.

But why? Because although it's unintended( or so we're told) it has no effect on gameplay, meaning that it shouldn't be bannable. Last time I checked, the only bannable things were things that had an effect on gameplay, or hacked legacy.

Honestly, I get it. It's not game killing, but it still goes against the amount work the devs but on designing the survivors.

Plus, I don't want to start seeing somebody like Leon or Ash wear somebody else's clothes. That's just crapping on the lore of the characters.

Well we got PH so it could come from a game, besides whats the difference if it came from a movie, show or game?

Because a horror dlc from a movie right now is about the only thing that would make a new chapter more exciting. I just figured after PH, they would step it up a bit, but right now, all signs point to either another video game character or original killer so it's really nothing special to look forward to.

  • It doesn't look like it's going to be a killer from a movie, so who cares.

  • Well whatever latest patch they dropped on the PS4, it recently started happening to me too and it's probably affecting more others than usual. Before then, I never had a problem with the frame rate/struggling issue, even when crossplay was first added.

  • I know it's probably a stretch, but I either want Jack Torrance from the Shining or Norman Bates from Psycho. They would be HUGE additions imo.

  • Either the movie or television versions of the Gecko Brothers from the action horror classic From Dusk till Dawn because they're both so freaking amazing.

I never had much interest in seeing the sequels, but the first film is a classic and Robert Rodriguez's reimagining of the movie expanded into a television series was incredible.

I highly recommend watching both the movie and series for those who haven't seen them yet. Especially if you enjoyed the entire Evil Dead/ Ash Vs Dead saga.

    tildawn2.jpg

  • My first thought was the "Us" movie since Jordan Peele makes some references where most things have this superstition of being equal, but then that wouldn't probably really fit under a classic license.

  • I was wondering if someone else caught on to that besides me. There's also a resemblance in the first movie too.

  • @Y_Darcy_Y said:

Honestly it’s probably not pennywise, because what they write about the new killer, said “marked the world of horror since it’s inception” and It didn’t when the original mini series came. It the mini series is a straight to TV release and didn’t even leave a bigger mark on the horror movie franchise like Jason or alien. Btw it’s good that nobody is saying predator, because his game just came out. I think it’s leprechaun.

So wait, you don't think it's Pennywise because it didn't leave a bigger mark, but you think it's leprechaun out of all the horror icons?

    Ok.

  • At this point, with the It remake making Pennywise more fresh again and we also have an upcoming Candyman movie, the logical choices would be either those two. But then there's another thing that caught my attention from the 4th announcement page that keeps bugging me. It reads "Marked the world of horror since its inception."

Inception means has to mean the start of something right? And I don't mean franchise, but I'm talking about opening the gateway for other horror films.

So you could argue that films like Physco or Friday The 13th was the inception for other films. You wouldn't have the Scream franchise if it wasn't for Norman Bates or the Hatchet series if it wasn't for Jason Vorhees. The Shining also has an inception leaving a huge mark since the general public and the media still makes references to that movie til this day. And now just recently we got a film adaption of the novel's sequel where Danny Torrance is an adult making him or Wendy perfect candidates for survivors.

I won't be disappointed if it comes down to someone like Candyman, Pinhead or Alien but their statement would be really misleading if the killers are not someone who laid the foundation like Norman Bates or Jack Torrance. Pennywise is understandable, so I'd be ok with him.

  • If it's Pennywise, it's possible they could always do 2 new survivors similar to the Stranger Things chapter.

Candyman can also have both Helen and Anthony from the upcoming sequel. Even though it might be an odd pairing considering Anthony was a baby in the first movie, but if I understand the DBD lore right, time doesn't really matter in the entity's world, so they can probably find some way around it.

You literally just said they had tons of sequels. Candyman had 2.

And that matters how? You still made the claim a character can't be iconic because they had terrible sequels and I was giving you other franchises with iconic characters as an example.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Thank God people like you exist. I'm also on the "there's no way it's candyman" train. I don't see how a moderately successful movie with 2 terrible sequels in the 90s makes a franchise iconic or even a "classic". I'm just hoping for something big this chapter, and something that hasn't been spoiled 2 weeks before release

If we're going with that logic, Freddy, Michael and Jason are not iconic since they had tons of terrible sequels.

Well, from Wikipedia: Silent Hill 2 is often considered to be among one of the best video games for its narrative. It ranked first on X-Play's list of the scariest games of all time in 2006. In 2009, IGN listed it as one of the five best horror video games created after 2000, and one of the twelve greatest PlayStation 2 games of all time. It ranked again in IGN's list of the top 100 PS2 games, and again in 2018, on IGN's list of the 100 greatest video games ever made. In a retrospective by Gamepro, it was the 26th best game for the PS2. In 2008, Gamesradar placed it on its list of the 15 best "videogame stories" ever, describing it as "a punishing tale not easily matched". In 2009, Wired News listed it as the 11th most influential game of the decade for its emphasis on psychological horror and exploration of taboo topics such as domestic abuse, rather than gore. In 2012, a top video games of all-time list by G4 television network ranked the game in 85th place. That same year, the game's narrative was ranked first on GamesRadar's list of The Best Videogame Stories Ever. Silent Hill 2 was listed as the number two top horror game of all time in the October 2014 issue of Game Informer, and number eight on GameTrailers's Top Ten Twos list of the best second franchise games in 2015.

According to the Silent Hill Wiki, "Silent Hill 2 is often called one of the greatest works of art in the survival horror video game medium."!

I also think that we're to assume that when they say "marked the world of horror since it's inception", they're meaning a franchise. Silent Hill has definitely marked the world of horror through games since it's inception, and it definitely still has a cult following and has reached the attention of media (they even made movies!). And I'm aware that many younger gamers probably wouldn't know about Silent Hill, but that doesn't really mean much, considering the fact that Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001.

I'm assuming that the Killer for a Silent Hill Chapter will be Pyramid Head due to the fact that he is (as I said in my original post), "One of the most well-known and iconic monsters in the franchise, turning into something of a mainstream and flagship figurehead for the series.". It would definitely make sense!

But that's all in the gaming media, it's not rest of the world. Don't get me wrong, I'm not discrediting Silent Hill, it's a classic successful gaming franchise and I'm sure people may familiar with the name in the mainstream, but just because it was popular enough to put out a few movies, it didn't leave that same huge impact like Physcho, The Shining or Child's Play did.

  • @Hippie said:

Well, "horror" doesn't just apply to movies, it can apply to games as well. With this in mind, I'm sure that horror game fans who have been playing for quite some time can agree that Silent Hill is a pretty iconic and spooky franchise, and Pyramid Head is (as the wiki stated) one of the most iconic monsters in the franchise! And it would be a very unique Killer as well.

They said it's going to be a classic license that has "marked the world of horror since it's inception." So it has to be a person or figure that has created a cult following, sparked up some media buzz and have people still talking about til this day. There's an extremely low chance any ordinary person has heard of Pyramid Head.

  • This is one of the reasons why I kind of want Norman Bates as another killer.

A map with a mansion combined with motel rooms would be pretty sick and can create a creepy atmosphere.

Some of the killers and licenses being posted are NOT iconic or classics. They have to be well known among the general public, not just hardcore horror fans.

The only licenses that fit that build would be:

    • Friday the 13th (Jason)
    • Alien (Xenomorph)
    • Child's Play (Chucky)
    • IT (Pennywise)
    • Resident Evil (Nemesis)
    • Universal Classic Monsters (Dracula or The Monster)

Now depending on how generous Behavior is being with their statement one could stretch it to include the following:

    • Silent Hill (Pyramid Head)
    • The Ring/Ringu (Samara/Sadako)
    • Hellraiser (Pinhead)
    • Candyman (Candyman)
    • Slenderman (Slenderman)

Remember from their news page regarding their 4th anniversary announcement, they mention a classic license that has "marked the world of horror since its inception." That likely means a horror character that made an impact not just in movie, but also the media and many other forms of entertainment due to it's cult following.

So characters like Nemesis and Pyramid Head is highly unlikely since they don't meet that criteria. Granted, they come from popular franchises, but they only made their mark in the gaming industry, that's not really the entire world.

Slender man is a slight possibility since he sparked up some media buzz from the internet and eventually got a movie.

  • Not only teleportation, but I was thinking maybe the mirrors could be a bit similar to corrupt intervention as well.

Only in this case, instead of the entity blocking the generators, it's full of mirrors covering them and the only way to get rid of them is if the survivors perform a skill check meanwhile have a lullaby sound with a group of girls/guys chanting "Candyman." It would be epic if you can hear the survivors saying it, but I don't think they got the voice actors to do the dialogue for it.
