So you are tired of matches where survivors do their objectives and you're hoping the new patch makes it so they....don't? Because doing generators and getting chased by the killer "IE: throwing palettes and looping" is kind of the whole deal for survivors. Sounds like you're really hoping the new patch makes it easier to curb stomp people. Cheer up, it will. Also, if you think the game is survivor sided, you clearly didn't play it two years ago to know what survivor sided really was. :)

I played it a couple years ago (2016 actually) and it was definitely killer sided. It was way worse than it is now for sure. But still, there are nights like this where games just aren't happening. However, we have to acknowledge that the game is obviously survivor sided, and that's how it should be for games like this. The easier role should get a bit more benefit, but not THIS much. There's so many combos for survivors to do that just straight up own the killer. That's what I'm talking about.

  • I've changed the discussion header to reflect what I mean, I'm sorry :(

  • Sorry all I'm just majorly depressed and three guesses why (the virus lol). I'm kinda on the angry side too, I just want some good games.

You could easily say the same of most survivors. I am a consistent rank 1 killer, and I can tell you most survivors are absolute potatos. You only feel the imbalance when you are facing competent solos/swf.

Seems like every game I play is against SWFs though. I had an Object game and that's what just threw me off. I always come in to full lobbies of people who are friends on Steam. I play solo as survivor and do pretty well usually too but this is just a travesty. It doesn't take much to be a decent survivor at all.

Never ran ruin always been rank one, always had consistent +2 kills, I think a lack of skill on the killer side is the biggest factor in this game, there just aren't very many good players playing killer.

    You're being an elitist.

Ok, I agree that this game can be survivor sided at times, and I understand that survivors can get to red ranks easily, I dont have any issues.

But I dont agree with the "most BORING way to win". The only way for all survivors to win is to hold m1 on 5 generators and open the exit gate. What should they do, just sit there and expect to let the killer win?

I will give a counterargument to that: KiLleRs ArE sO bOrInG. ThEy OnLy HiT sUrViVoRs AnD hOoK tHeM, rInSe AnD rEpEaT!

See the issue, that is literally the way a killer wins (whatever stupid win condition is in the game for killers).

I understand that this game is hard for killer, and that playing against swf deathsquads are unfair AF, but you cant just say that survivors using the only things that they are given at base is unfair.

Honestly, with this new patch, this game is gonna become more killer sided against the game's main group: solo survivors. Swf is still gonna be broken, but against the 4 man solo team, killer will have an easier time.

Totems exist, chests exist, other things exist on the field. I honestly wish the developers added something ELSE for survivors to do, as it gets boring. I haven't personally been having luck either way. It's either as killer I get stacked against smurf players or as survivor I get the potatoes. The matchmaking has no sense of balance either, I feel bad when I get paired against rank 20 survivors as a purple/red rank killer. They should have prioritized that. I am hoping upcoming matchmaking changes are sufficient.

What you can blame is what’s in the game and how it impacts people’s ability to have fun and stand a chance without wanting to give up or stop playing.

That's about the gist of it otherwise. It's not fun for the killer right now, thusly more people are not playing killer. It's too stacked against us. The odd man might be able to get somewhere in the midst of this if they're lucky and have godly coordination. A lot of people aren't playing 5k hours of DBD like a certain person above is.

Sorry that all this hand holding the devs have been doing for killers for the past year and a half hasn't helped you get those ultra cool 4Ks, hopefully this next patch will make you a super good killer <3

Again, statement I made was over your head I guess. It's not about skill. It's about balance. The game has for a long time bene skewed to survivors. The skew increased in more recent times. That's why the patch is coming. Are you just intentionally trying to grief here?

  • @SurviveByDaylight said:

Hits, hooks, downs, you need those. Mori’s give you too much of a short cut imo that people don’t get much out of the match. It needs to be removed 🤷‍♂️ Everyone loses out . Plus it’s just deflating to play Both sides. Keys aren’t as bad as Mori’s . 3 iri heads are unnecessary too

That's why I don't use moris, most good killers don't. I'm just fed up with survivor behavior. MY ENTIRE POINT REVOLVES AROUND THAT. I just want them to get it in their heads that this game, up until this upcoming patch, has been skewed too heavily to survivors.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1222912#Comment_1222912

A lucky streak? Almost all of my killer games end in 3/4Ks those matches are all back to back, 0 lobby dodging. Sorry that some people just can't admit they aren't very good at their chosen role.

You're missing the point, it's not about "good or bad". It's about the game not being balanced correctly. After next update, it likely will. Don't be thick.

  • Suppose I'll just play Resistance until DBD sorts its sh*t out. Love the game, hate the player base acting entitled and toxic.

  • And FYI, I'm all for the next update. That's my entire argument. All of this will HOPEFULLY stop so that the game will be more fair for killers. If you're one of the lucky ones who has relative success as killer, cool. Most don't, most have left. That's why killer queues have been so short.

  • @Seanzu said:

Yes yes killer is so harrrrrrrrrd - https://imgur.com/a/Xw7iczg look at me, the survivor main that plays better than all the "killer mains" here.

So you have a lucky streak going for killer then, good for you. IT's not about who is good or bad at the game. It's about recognizing facts. The game is survivor sided, and I mean it should be for the most part. But I want it to be a more FAIR game, it's too heavily skewed right now. Go pay attention to notable DBD names on Twitch instead of believing what Reddit dips say. Your elitism is not appreciated.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/145362/i-hope-the-next-patch-makes-survivors-cry-honestly-heres-why

You literally contradicted yourself. You say it’s survivor sided game yet they have to do the most boring things possible to win. How is that survivor sided? Killers have ebony Mori’s, one hit downs, its Not fun for survivors to come in and be a part of your Mori montage. Nice bait.

I can tell you're a survivor main who has never touched killer. Moris are a guaranteed safety pip or depip game. There's no point in using them other than to see what the kill animation looks like or if you've had a series of bad games and can manage to get at least two downs.

  • @Seanzu said:

Ahhh yes, they should not do any of the things they're required to do to win.

Instead of holding M1, they should hold M2 and stand silently next to a generator and hope it completes itself.

Instead of holding W, they should hold E, in hopes that the killer whiffs all their hits

They don't even have to throw down pallets as they're holding E, and will win automatically!

Ah, onto the god loops, which are being removed in the next patch and is completely irrelevant to the stuff before this point, because the stuff before this point is actually relevant.

and also the rinse and repeat thing, I too agree that survivors should play one match and never come back onto the game :)

Honestly killer has never been easier, it's only been getting easier, y'all need to get better at the game, seriously.

Survivor mains who have never played killer all say the same thing. I'll take what you're saying with a grain of salt because no one respects the opposite side right now. Next update deservedly should be making you survivor mains upset. I'm sick of this game being unfun for killers, it's no wonder the killer population is so low now.

  • Survivor mains who are rank 20 killers really don't seem to understand how killers work at all. I don't own Pig, but I know for a fact that Pig players have quite a hard time because Pig is kind of on the weaker side. BUT she is FUN. Stealth killers can be very rewarding if played right. The fact that you're moaning and groaning over an easy to work around mechanic (that's RNG btw, I have gotten trap off at first box many times) is very telling and reveals a lot of information about you. I don't want to assume normally, but please don't propagate the stereotypical toxic survivor mentality. No one likes that kind of player.

  • I've noticed that as a green rank killer I consistently get either really good red rank survivors, or really trashy survivors who scum the entire game in SWF while rolling me and being cocky c*nts saying "ggez". Maybe THAT'S just me but hey. I've watched streamers with similar issue.

  • Here's what I propose: Make it known who is in a SWF. Make it easy to see that they're in a party together. Other games do it. Other games show who is in a party and who isn't. If you want to dodge a SWF, just look for some kind of little mark near their name is what should be done. BHVR should do this ASAP as it requires a bit of doing on Steam to detect who is with friends and who isn't. I imagine it might be worse on console.

  • Just...use pallets. It's not a big deal. I play both and bloodlust has never been a problem.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

Sure hope so, I hope this makes killers a bit more fun and fair and less campy/tunnely.

Just had another game where the first person unhooked got cleanly tunneled, that just immidiatly ruins the gmae for me so I just run up and die.

Wanna know why killers tunnel right now so often? Answer: they've had to put up with a lot of toxicity. I stated it in my OP. God loops/pallets, powerful tiles, fast gen speeds even with the toolbox nerfs, etc...All of that comes to an easy "hold M1" game unless the killer finds you. And when he/she does, they'll want to get you. The problem you mains do is that...you instantly unhook. It's called "hook humping" and it's really frowned upon. So that's why you get tunneled as of now. Not because killers are doing it massively to be malicious. Will I go after someone who just got unhooked 5 seconds after I hooked them? Yes, if I don't see the other person first. Why? Because that was too quick. You have to WAIT. Get other things done first. I play survivor quite a bit and I know enough of what I'm talking about. These changes benefit us all. Survivors don't have to rely on cheap tactics, and killers get a break. Maybe tunneling will be less of a problem.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1197336#Comment_1197336

I most likely will because the Devs are constantly catering to killers. Survivors have received nothing but nerfs for the last 6 months and yet Killers just continue to tell us to stop crying.. to "git good".. "survivors still to OP!". Tell us.. when is it going to be good enough? When you can down us in under 20 seconds? When you only need 1 hook instead of 3? When all of the pallets and windows are removed from the game? When we lose our ability to run? When the Devs give you the ability to see us anywhere on the map permanently?

    Survivor Nerfs

Patch 3.3.1 - Insta Heals nerfed, Green Medkit charges nerfed from 24 to 16 charges.

Patch 3.4.0 - Balance Landing Nerfed to remove staggert reduction while exhausted.

Patch 3.5.0/3.5.2 - Lery's Rework (Survivor Nerf to hide totems, remove windows and add more unsafe pallet)

February 10 - Disconnect Penalties - Forces Survivors to have to play through matches, no matter how toxic the killer wants to be.

    Patch 3.6.0 - Survivor Nerfs

    1) Survivors can no longer sabotage Bear Traps

    2) Dropped survivor wiggle progression reduced from 33% to 25%

    3) Toolboxes Nerfed

    4) Saboteur nerfed (cooldown added) & Hooks respawn faster

    5) Addons nerfed to disappear at the end of each match

    6) Autohaven Wreckers: Fixed an issue that allowed Survivors to use Dead Hard to get onto tires near a crane (Yet killers can still do it with Lunge)z

    7) Breakable Walls added

Dev Update April 2020 - Survivor Nerf - Reduced repair speeds when working with other survivors, maps reworked to prevent survivors from being able to actually escape from a killer.

And yet it's still a "hold M1" game for survivor mains. It's uninteresting. You go through gens way too fast. You rush. You make the game boring for the killer. You don't have empathy for your opposition, it's not sportsmanlike. Saying "gg" to compensate to make yourself feel better isn't a good plan. Have respect for people, play the game reasonably. If you had done that, maybe these changes wouldn't be so necessary. Survivor gameplay is way too easy. I hover between red and purple ranks (because sometimes good killers have their day) and it's fine to take the L. But when everyone just rushes each gen and the killer never even finds anyone? That's not fun. You don't get chases, you don't get unhooks, can't really drop pallets for any reason, it's boring. Do you enjoy boring games that much? Survivors are pretty OP, they have so many perks that can just punish the killer's mistakes EASILY and EFFECTIVELY. They're even throwing in buffs for two survivor perks into this update to compensate but that's not enough for mains. Lol...

SWF with prove thyself will still be a problem, at least the god loops are gone.

SWF with Object of Obsession will be even worse still. But these are much needed and hopefully people won't run them that often. It kinda sucks the fun out of things.

  • @Mooks said:

I am pretty sure the „potato“ survivors will have an even worse time than before though, but „git gut“ I guess.

the „potato“ killers will still complain because matchmaking will result in some games where it’s not super ez for them. (Remember: no „git gut“ here pls)

for the „pro“ players, not much will change. The toxic ones will still be toxic and ruin the experiences for the others.

I don't necessarily think that's true for the grey rank people. They wouldn't understand god loops, powerful closed in tiles, or gen speeds immediately. They'd probably just kinda wing it until they understand or watch Otzdarva or someone else really good play and take notes from that. That's what I did, I'd still recommend learning from the best either way. Survivors will be fine. I will be fine playing as one I'm certain. I'll just have to find other ways and means. I'm already keen on playing a stealth game over looping anyway.

  • Also, this game started out VERY killer sided, so I don't know what you're on about. And I bet you REALLY enjoy Resident Evil Resistance seeing as you can basically dunk on baby rank Masterminds very easily before they have a fleshed out deck. Don't bring that entitlement to another game and ruin it for others, please.

  • So as per usual entitled toxic survivor main who clearly hasn't played killer enough to respect or really understand the struggle, you made this absurd post instead of having empathy and really getting a grasp on why the changes are necessary. Boo hoo, the "hold M1" side of the game got a little more challenging and you might actually start feeling a bit of pressure. HOW SAD! Poor baby! Meanwhile the killers who have had to get flashlight blinded, pallet stunned, godlooped, etc. by toxic survivor mains deal with 4 escape games repeatedly. I was personally stuck in a yellow rank loop until I was finally able to exit it by getting some decent games with respectable players of the same rank as me who were quite nice about 2-4k games. Maybe you should play more killer, you only really understand the struggle when you've played. I used to be somewhat like you, so I get it, you think being survivor entitles you to big daddy BHVR's love too. It doesn't. These are much needed. Please get over it. You all had your buffs when Ruin was nerfed.

GG has and always will be proper gaming etiquette. If you take it the wrong way that's your own damn fault.

I'm not realy taking it the wrong way, the opposite actually. Apparently not many people take into consideration the implication of saying it at the exact wrong moment. A killer who stomps a team of survivors and rubs it in by saying "GG" is not being respectful, he's being duplicitous. He knows it wasn't a good game for you. The reverse applies as well. If it is obvious the other side did NOT have a gg, don't say it. A "wp" and a move on are fine.

  • @honestlybaffled said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1147751#Comment_1147751

Took the words out of me.

I can't believe that "gg" is now toxic.

Saying "gg" isn't toxic. Saying "gg" when it wasn't is. Rolling a killer and then barraging them with "gg gg gg gg" isn't funny or cool. Rubbing it in is toxic. Saying "gg" when it's a fine game and no one did anything salty, that's okay. If it was a gg and they were the losers, all the better. You're not taking this the right way when you think that way.

  • @SquidFacedMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/135829/guys-stop-saying-gg-when-you-roll-survivors-killer

Maybe you should play some offline games for a while if you think gg is toxic. You're literally tilting yourself over nothing.

Nah, I'm just saying that being a cocky survivor isn't cool and it's not fun for the opposing person to sit there having a bunch of entitled survivors barrage you with "gg". It comes off very egotistical. I play both and I just don't like seeing it either way. Be more respectful. If it was a bad game, don't say it was a good game. If the other person obviously got rolled, either say "well played" or just move on. It isn't hard.

  • Think of it like this: If a football team beats the other team 70 to 0 (or whatever), and then they say "good game" to them...isn't that insulting and gloaty? Isn't that kind of a huge slap in their collective face? I get that you guys think it's "sportsmanlike" but that's just not correct. I have never felt like when a bunch of people who played toxic then said "gg" to me after stomping me were doing it in an honest and sincere tone, ESPECIALLY on the survivor side. Survivor gameplay is way too easy and they honestly have no right to rub it in.

  • @PokemonGOPlayer said:

Run DS, remind your teammates how important is BT in lobby chat, learn how to run loops.

How would you solve the issue? This game gives you a lot of freedom regarding how you approach many things. Would the first solution you can come up with be abusable by an experienced Survivor/SWF?

I'm sorry about your experience but I'm afraid this game does not have an easy solution for this kind of problems. It's the nature of asymmetrical games that grant a giant playground to players with simple rules.

EDIT to address your TL;DR: If you hit Emblems you will still get tunneled by derankers/people who don't care about rank, if you hit BPs many people will be upset as there is nothing else that hits BPs and it's hard to make the game truly understand if the Killer is actually camping.

I don't have DS. Not everyone is able to buy every DLC. Don't assume this lol. If it appears in the shrine, I may consider getting it, but use of this perk is kind of a crutch. I only ever see sweatlords use it on the survivor side. Once more, I also play killer and fully understand killer struggles. I play Clown and Plague enough to know how rough it is out there (some games are really fun and everyone is just playing for fun, not some competitive nonsense).

  • Also, guys, let's remember the objective of playing a game is to have fun. I don't care what sweatlords on other games say, the intention is for everyone to have fun. It's the ultimate motivator for playing games. Going for the win all the time defeats the purpose and you will definitely be miserable if you go for that.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1143085#Comment_1143085

Sure, we can punish 'hyper-focusing' (tunneling as you survivors put it) and hunting down a wounded victim to ensure a kill; but in exchange, let's also punish overly altrustic and 'heroic' survivors. Maybe say, drain your emblem points and bp for every second you aren't doing a generator and are too busy trying to go for that hook save or playing ring-around-the-rosy with the killer? Killers objective is to kill by whatever means necessary - their objective shouldn't be to ensure you have 'fun', sure it sucks being focused down, but that's just either: A - ######### luck of the draw that you were seen/caught first, or B - Punishment for not playing stealthy enough; just like survivors objective is supposed to be to do generators and escape, but Behavior has this game so backwards and screwed up that they reward doing the exact opposite of that because "iT iSn'T fUn ThAt WaY".

TL;DR - ######### no. Change the way the game awards bloodpoints and emblems, to actually emphasize objective-based gameplay and not "interactive tag simulator" and then maybe we can talk about ######### like this.

Okay first of all, no one calls it "hyper-focusing". It's tunneling on both sides. I watch streamers who play killers and they still call it tunneling. If you're trying to change that, good luck. Tunneling is the universal thing to call it. Secondly, I have stated a couple of times I ALSO PLAY KILLER and FULLY UNDERSTAND the temptation of tunneling/camping. Do I do it? No, at least not intentionally. I apologize if I SEEMED like I did after match. To the TL;DR bit ( I read what you said though), I agree with you. The emblem system needs to be changed to reward active gameplay, not passive (such as tunneling/camping OR having survivors hide in lockers or sit in one spot the whole game).

  • @Onyx_Blue said:

It's an uninteractive style of play, and is not a successful strategy to do. People say "just do gens", but when a lot of killers suck at the game and choose to tunnel and camp, it isn't gonna be fun to have majority of your matches in that session of gaming just dedicated to gens or being stuck on the hook all game. There should be a punishment for tunneling the same person over and over, as well as camping. Make it so emblem points are lost way faster than they currently are, as well as bp being depleted too. You don't gain brutality, hunting, deviousness or sacrifice points for targeting recently unhooked survivors (unless BT is in play) so quickly after they got off the hook. So many matches i've seen rubbish players get 20k+ all because a team decided to try and help the poor tunneled and camped survivor to no avail. Since "just do gens" is a stupid response and boring as hell to be forced to do; all because a boosted killer cannot get kills by playing properly. "Pressure? What's that?"

I agree, mate. Tunneling and camping does need a negative to it.

THANK YOU! Finally someone is saying something sensible in this thread. I want BHVR to just add more incentive to be an active killer pursuing multiple targets instead of being a scumlord and attacking only one person thrice in a row. I guarantee a lot of the responses here are from people who solely play killer and likely play this way. If so, stop your replies and find somewhere else to muck up the forums. Again, I get it, I play killer too. But I'm not going to resort to scummy tactics to win. If I do accidentally do anything I think is bad, I apologize to the survivors. If more killers were like this, I wouldn't be so affected by it. Reasonable killers wouldn't do this crap.

  • @Huntar said:

There's a bunch of perks designed to help you with this. Use one of them. If you aren't using them, you are choosing to give up the method of punishment the devs are putting in. Heck, your team should be done with all the gens before the second phase is finished. It's not the killer's fault if your team isn't doing their objective.

See I don't have all the DLC and I don't have all the money in the world to get every DLC instantly. I just want to play the game without a scummy killer being bad at it and actually playing a fair game. Is that really a hard ask? I play both, I know how it is for killers, but I don't scum it up when I play and do just fine when a game opportunity presents itself. I don't tunnel or camp. I don't have to.

  • I would say if there was some way, then it would have to be telling whether or not someone stood still and just went to turn off Modem or whatever. You can tell easily when someone intentionally leaves. And I don't usually have bad WiFi, my ISP likes to pick and choose when it decides to be "bad".

  • I will acknowledge that they haven't fixed anything else and don't really address reasons why people could've disconnected (for me it wasn't even me, it was my provider). I don't know what could realistically be done to combat the things you mentioned. I feel like I'm going to be stuck in Killer rank 15-16 because of this. I get matched up with optimal SWFs and it's a travesty. I can't do anything. I depip from 3k and sometimes even 4k games. It's insane.

  • I think giving you the option to choose regions is both hit and miss. It's hit when it works sure, you'll get games with better ping. It's miss when there's not enough people in your region playing at the time, so your queue times will be even longer. So good luck with that I guess.
