Problem is that nerfing (most) survivor meta perks would just collapse the game. If DS were to eat another nerf, tunnelling would just become the de facto best tactic, and being caught once would immediately end the game for the survivor. Same for slugging with UB, and camping with BT.
At this point, if you want to get rid of the meta, both sides need to have their metas become baseline. Inherent DS (Plus: Can be used after each hook, but gets disabled after gen 5), inherent UB (Survivors can pick themselves up by crawling to a gen, fully recovering, and then performing a long standing up animation) and inherent Corrupt Intervention, with a gen kicking buff.
Slow everything down, make matches take longer so it's not as high pressure for either side.
Only problem with this is camping, which is harder to resolve and would, again, completely destroy the game if left unchecked with these slow-down changes.
Honestly I agree, perks acting as a band aid for game flaws is just bad design imo. Get rid of camping and tunneling, but make gens go slower. Unfortunately I doubt that will ever happen.

24m isn't that big. Survivors have to be pretty close to get any use out of it.
I will just throw some numbers here. A circle of 24m radius has an area of 1808m², and the average map size is 9000~10000m². So a single Boon covers almost 20% of a map. If you consider that every map has a certain parts of it that are never really used (the parts where you usually have Z walls), two Boons can easily cover half of a map.
-
Seeing the effort/reward ratio of Hillbilly is just sad. You have to be a god Billy nowadays just to keep up with average survivors. They could definitely reduce his charge time so it is at least the same as Bubba.
I see people keep mentioning Legion, but I'm honestly fine with them being very weak. Legion has by far the easiest power to use in the game, it makes sense that the trade off is them being weak AF. Maybe some number changes to help them are ok (less cooldown, not losing power on M1), like they did with Wraith, but you can't do a major buff to them without changing the fact Frenzy hits don't take skill.
-
Maybe not OP, but they are stupidly low risk/high reward.
Also that's not how you change the meta. You nerf meta perks and buff the bad/average ones so the difference between the strongest and the weakest perk is as small as possible. If you just create another meta perk that is as BS as the current ones, instead of seeing the same 5~6 perks, you'll now see the same 6~7, it doesn't really add build variety.
-
Make Hag unable to trap from a set radius to a hook. At least the same radius Demo can't place portals and PH can't place trails.
-
I think you shouldn't be able to bless the same totem twice. It's just frustrating when you snuff a totem and less than 30 seconds later you hear the BOOOOOOM again. I also don't know how I feel about 4 survivors being able to bless 4 totems, they are supposed to be a "safe haven", and when they cover basically the whole map it's kind of stupid.
-
It's the Ash situation repeating itself. There's no way to sell a DLC with a single survivor if you don't have extremely powerful perks that everybody will want to try. They'll probably be nerfed as soon as the sells of Mikaela's DLC diminish a bit. But tbh they deserve the nerf.
-
I do not like that second video commentary. Not at all. Sure it's borderline impossible to balance the game completely, killers like Trapper will never be as strong as Nurse, and you can't balance the game around Trapper because then anything above him becomes stupidly overpowered. But there are some changes that the community has asked for a long time, but the devs take so long to do balance changes. Like, there's no way to justify why it took 5 years to make Trapper carry 2 traps as basekit, or 3 years to make Spirit fun to play against.

I can't wait to get the new rift outfit! I've been making eyes at it ever since it was announced on the community contest. Good taste - I just bought her blight crown for how awesome it is, but the outfit I'm using is her Crown of Despair, Crimson Robe, and Censer of Expulsion (though the new censer is really nice too.)
I've ended up getting really experimental and memey with my build since I'm in lower MMR right now and Ruin is way too overkill on the survivors I'm getting lately, but before that I was pretty generic - Corrupt (to form a net of infected gens at the start), Ruin, STBFL (just as a comfort perk, it's not especially good on her either way - though she can avoid M1ing the obsession, so there's that), and BBQ. Monitor is pretty good on her; her TR hurts her quite a bit, especially in Corrupt Purge when everyone gets really cautious. Your build's balanced fine, but if you ever wanted to experiment, she's one of the only good users of Blood Echo, which is especially good on teams that don't want to cleanse (and are as a rule more confident in chase.) Thanatophobia's another of those perks that only she and Legion can use effectively, and it's good for encouraging teams to cleanse. And Discordance is a very nice perk for knowing where to attack with Corrupt Purge if you ever want to sub out BBQ.
Grabbing Corrupt isn't a hard and fast rule, but the situations you should definitely go for it are thus:
-You know where several survivors are - gens and unhooks being the big ones.
-The last gen gets popped. You know where survivors are headed, and survivors at this stage are going to be beelining for the nearest clean fountains, so it's not the time to be stingy with your power; you're pretty much guaranteed to have it for the rest of the game.
-Survivors are close to resetting your fountains. You always have to keep an eye on the number of fountains around and make sure it doesn't get too high. If there are infected survivors who can cleanse, just grab the closest fountain (barring ones with amazing locations, save those for later) and go on a rampage.
-When you have several fountains and you're located next to one that's particularly badly placed - like in a zone where all the gens are already done, or against the walls in a swamp map or Dead Dawg. If it would be extremely out of your way to get in normal circumstances, you have better-placed fountains you can access afterwards, and you're right next to it, you may as well pick it up and see if you can harass someone with it. Generally you should never pick up a fountain if you don't know where anyone is, but I've come to consider this one an exception. That said, don't do this to fountains near exit gates - those can be great for eleventh hour plays.
That's definitely a lot of tips, thanks a lot!!!
I'll be sure to give Blood Echo a try, it seems good to counter Dead Hard (another meta perk that Plague seems to deal with). Thanatophobia seems dirty as well, I'll probably try it paired Dying Light.
I usually like to grab CP whenever I have at least two survivors fully infected, or when I know they are close to resetting the fountains. I'll try to pay more attention on where fountains are located, that seems helpful especially on Swamp maps.

I don't know the reason for, but the ink makes me think of Berserk.
I'm gonna check Blame if it looks like Berserk. I love the aesthetic of it.
The art style definitely has Berserk vibes, but it's a futuristic setting. It might be a weird manga to read because it has chapters and chapters without a single dialogue, but get into the ambience and I'm sure you'll like it!
-
I think the problem with Hillbilly is that overheat and the map reworks limit his skill ceilling A LOT. You can't now use your chainsaw creatively because otherwise you risk overheating, so you'll want to use it on the most efficient way possible. Also every map now is filled with random objects that stop his chainsaw (random branch at MacMillian I'm looking at you). So imo Blight gets the top on this, with Nurse right under.
-
This has some huge Blame vibes. I recommend anyone to check this manga (or at least the Netflix movie), it's insanely good.

What exactly did they buff about her? Like what changed to make her so much better all of a sudden? Was it just the starting with a red fountain or is there more?
Before this update she was just like Clown where she slowed down a ton whenever she vomited, now she barely slows down and catches up way faster. She also got an addon pass, and survivors in general get infected way faster.

This is a good point. The problem is: what mindgame are the people playing ghostface actually trying?
Of course these mindgames are gonna be better if the tile is in a corner of the map where the survivor can't run away, tho if you know that a survivor runs away from a poop, try to predict that and it could be a free hit
I can see the point you make. It can definitely be an underrated perk to end chases that are already taking quite long (considering Bloodlust), but I just don't know if it's worth the slot instead of other chase perks.

Hell yeah, welcome to the Vommy Mommy side! We have... gratuitous amounts of vomit. But also really sick cosmetics and sixty seconds of unstoppable power.
Her ability to counter Iron Will and now both boons has always been a really understated benefit of hers, and the recent buffs made her feel much smoother to play - more bang for your buck on infecting objects, survivors get fully infected faster no matter what they do, and none of that slowdown after vomming. All I miss is the old Vile Emetic. The real trick to playing Plague is that you need to be flexible and prepare for cases where the survivors cleanse a lot (where you need to be proactive about using Corrupt Purge, don't wait for the most opportune times and never let survivors wipe your fountains) and when they don't cleanse (so you need to make the one use of your power count, but also be comfortable acting as an M1 killer with no power.) If you can get comfortable with how to react to changing dynamics within a match, you're golden.
Thanks for the warm welcome, I'll definitely accept the gratuitous amounts of vomit! She definitely has some cute cosmetics, I'm currently using the body from her Rift, the crown from the Blighted cosmetic and the P3 weapon, it makes a very sick combination. I'm looking forward to getting the outfit from the current Rift.
I'm still learning the ins and outs of when to get CP, but man it feels really good to slug an entire team with just one use out of it. She's an unit.
What build do you like on Plague? I'm currently using Corrupt, Deadlock, BBQ and Monitor & Abuse, but I do like to mix it up.

She's always been a strong killer that killer mains have always whined that she's weak. It's unfortunately she got a buff, because now everyone is playing her. I wanted her to stay my special little secret.
I always knew she was strong, but that slowdown after puking and getting a cooldown without vomiting anything made her incredible clunky to play imo.

Yeah, there's that. But if you get in a situation, with a killer that uses beast of pray almost perfectly, like Legion or Pig, where you can do a beast of prey mindgame at a tall wall jungle gym for example, that's better than any chasing perk like enduring, brutal, and even bamboozle sometimes.
Also, "simply dropping the pallet". Maybe dropping a pallet is not always 100% safe, especially if you do an almost completely unexpected mindgame that nobody ever does with Beast of prey?
I can see it giving some value on some situations, but the thing is really good survivors do everything to avoid being in a mindgame situation. They stay on places with good LOS, they pre drop safe pallets and they run to safe windows to prevent anything the killer can do. Just see how Ghostface usually performs, a killer that has Beast of Prey as basekit.
-
I feel a killer is problematic when you can tell a Blight is playing on console or PC before the match ends. I've seen very good console Nurses who decimated my teams, and insane console Huntress who landed insane snipes, but when a Blight (or Oni) does a crazy flick I know it's impossible for him to be a controller player. So yeah, killers should not have that many differences between platforms.
-
Now we know what we Huntress players suffer. Always nice to see a hatchet getting sucked into the void by a Dead Hard while it makes the "splash" sound.
-
The problem is that most killers' powers cancel Bloodlust. Doctor's shock, Clown's bottles, Freddy placing snares (I'm actually not sure on this one). Besides that, survivors can force you to break Bloodlust by simply dropping a safe pallet.
-
Survivor is only kind of hard because of matchmaking. In fact now that MMR gives me actually competent teammates most matches on solo queue, my escape rate has sky rockted. It used to be something like 40~50%, and now it's easily around 70~80%.
If someone doesn't DC on the first down (which for some reason still happens), it's high likely that we'll get a 3 or even 4 man out. In fact just yesterday I played 10 solo queue matches and only on one of them we got 4ked.
So yeah, survivors have too much advantage. Especially now that boons are the new braindead meta. "Get hit, run to blue totem for free heals and free Lucky Break", such an interactive mechanic.
-
I remember Oni was heavily nerfed shortly after his release. He was the worst killer in the game for a short time because they removed his flick.
-
@SunsetSherbet said:
The perk is beyond busted in power. There is no actual good reason to not run it since it's just a third health state and better than any other perk by many magnitudes.
It's such a great perk you're basically hurting your team not running it.
-
You probably gained a Devotion and reset your Player Level. The first levels of Devotion you gain less Shards (but the gain rate perk match is still the same). https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Player_Level
-
I don't even know which was worse. Both were killers that I loved to play and now I barely touch them after the nerfs. I'd say Slinger because unlike Billy he was never a top tier killer, nor he had strong addons like old Carburator Tuning Guide.
-
No amount of buffs they give to his knives will compensate the fact Trickster should be 115%. They could even revert the Laceration meter to 8 knives to damage if they just made him a 115% (and get rid of his stupid lullaby).

I got very lucky and had a Billy let me live after killing the other three. Instead of taking the hatch, I ran to the last gen and started working on it. He let me finish it and walk through that gate, praise be to that Billy.
If that hadn't happened I was planning on saving it for last and I was going to do it with a friend of mine, maybe see about getting a full group to help. We were going to play normally until we got some instance of us being the last two, and then he'd purposely die after we 99'd a gen. Then it'd just be hoping to get lucky on a door.
If you can get a full squad you can do the same, have the three of them die when one gen is left and 99'd. It's basically luck though with the door play even if you get the gen done.
As a solo player it's probably one of the hardest trophies to get along with the 4 man hatch escape. If you can get a full 4-man group helping you though it's really only about getting lucky with the door.
I wish I had better advice but outside of a group helping it's all luck and hoping the stars align.
Thanks for the tips, this trophy is painful to get.
-
How did you get the one that you have to finish the last gen as the last survivor and escape through the gate? It's one of the few I'm missing, and the hardest.
-
The shack at Dead Dawg has a breakable wall because it's bigger than the usual shack and has cracks on it.
-
As someone who plays Nurse a lot I think it's unfair how she can use exposed perks too well. I think Blink Attacks shouldn't count as normal M1s, so she doesn't get full value out of perks like Knockout, Starstruck, Surge, Sloppy, NOED, etc.

Because it's completely unnecessary to remove a cosmetic for no reason. There's no proof at all.

I’m not going to mention anyone because of the potential harassment, but someone recently complained about it. It was posted to Reddit, and despite their name being censored, they were still harassed on twitter about it. Absolutely disgusting that people are making rules and regulations on what black people are allowed to feel uncomfortable about
I want proof that people who use the Claudette face on Bubba are doing it to be racist. I really don't care if people don't like the suggestion of the mask being removed, especially when you do it without any proof that people are being racist with it.

So all the black people who have complained about it in the past and recently are racist to themselves? I get that reading is hard for you but it has NOTHING to do with Bubba wearing black skin, and everything to do with the players who use it. They are intentionally doing so because it’s the black option.
Do you have proof of that?

I love how Clown is one of the worst killers in the game and this post right here is a nice suggestion to make him below F tier.

If you get hit in any other online video game, you lose ~5% of your hp, and if you die - you respawn and continue playing. If you get unfairly hit in DbD - you lose your life and the game is irredeemably lost for you.
And yeah, it's not the latency, it's the vaulting hitboxes, which has been proven countless times. For some reason they haven't even touched the hitboxes since 2016.
Not every online game is a shooter lmao.
Of course it's latency. "Has been proven countless times" show me one proof.
-
Nurse underwear.
I repeat.
Nurse underwear.
-
NOED is a good perk, but it's a very hated perk for survivors because it usually gives one or two extra kills at the end.
Myers is indeed weak. He's arguably the weakest killer in the game right now, so don't feel bad if you lose a lot with him.
His perks are not that bad. Save the Best for Last is really good on him when you don't have Evil Within 3 and want to catch up on survivors. Play with your Food is nice to gain extra speed while you stalk the obsession. Dying Light sucks tho.
For flashlights, you can look at a wall while you are picking up a survivor. You can also try and bait a flashlight save, pretend to pick up a survivor and then look behind you.
-
Getting a latency hit is not a legit reason to DC. If you believe it is, you shouldn't play an online videogame.
-
Imo he got hit hard with the hold W and pre-drop meta, but he's fine. It's just a problem with the meta.
-
I want to see that guy that commented yesterday on a thread that all map reworks had good totem spawns lmao.

EAC "might" do something about it, not "may". It means that's unlikely, at most they could kick you out of the game, but again.. it's UNLIKELY.
They will not ban players using this resolution, EAC has other stuff to deal with... not this.
Again, the EAC they have on this game doesn't even ban people for obvious hacking (things like flying around or throwing hatchets as Ghostface). Do you seriously believe someone has ever been kicked out for stretched?
-
Not deleted, but boon totems are definitely "a wee bit overpowered".
-
Not in any interesting way. I know of the guys responsible for the balance team likes to facecamp people with NOED so you can guess how these guys are in touch with the average/high level.
-
I like to watch content creators who don't scream all the time and also those who don't promote their content with "High level player". So my usual go to are Umbra, ZubatLEL, Scott Jund and Ralph.
-
EAC does absolutely nothing. The fact we need to send VIDEO EVIDENCE of hackers to get them banned proves this statement of "the EAC might prevent you from logging in" is a total lie.

Have you used the 4m killer instinct add on? 4m is actually pretty small, and often just listening for a survivor is better.
Imo it's not worth the slot. I'd rather use the 40% speed boost plus activation charge speed. Much quicker to catch up.
I think overall spirit is in a good place now. Her only real problem was survivors not knowing whether she was phasing and having to just guess what the best play was. They fixed that. She's fine now.
4m of radius means she covers an entire area of 50m² while phasing. Combining that with the MS addon and it's far from being small.

Oni has to first earn it and Blight can't attack on activation.
Bubba.... idk tbh. I feel like Bubba is slightly overtuned for chase aspect but at the same time he doesn't have any map presence.
Blight can instantly Rush into a wall and Lethal Rush out of it, it takes way less than 2 seconds. Oni can easily down an entire team with good addons in a single Blood Fury.
Hillbilly's map presence nowadays is slightly overrated. It used to be a good thing when maps were open fields with very few obstacles. Now after the map reworks every map is full of trees and rocks that impede mobility. Good luck traversing something like Groaning Storehouse nowadays.
Blight makes him look like a joke, and Bubba can have way better map presence by downing survivors way faster than Billy could ever dream and proxy camp.
