You dont want killers to tunnel and spread the hooks?

Fine. How about doing 33% of a gen and moving on to the next one etc. - after 5 have 33%, you are allowed to do the next 33%.

Thats the counterpart. Survivors tunnel gens at maximum possibility with Toolboxes, Prove, Hyperfocus etc., but the killer has to worry about your "fun".

    Okay then...

I do NOT like to go after the weakling over and over to create the 3v1, but that is the best and by far most viable strat.

It will become more and more meta, because gens fly and our gen-regression-perks are weaker than survivors BASE (!) Gen-Speed (400% is survivors Base-Speed).

I dont have a perk which decreases with 400%. And then, I havent even spoken about the many ways you can speed these 400% up. Btw. why should it be a perk. This should be Killers Base-Kick. Then, remove all speedup and regression tools on both sides and see where it goes.

Gen slowdown/regression/blocking perks aren't supposed to completely counter gen speeds. Net gen progress should still be positive, gens should still be being done, just slower. If killers could stack gen slowdown to completely stop survivors being able to make any progress on gens, they'd win every game.

Heck this is already a problem with the three gen build that can make a 4-man SWF unable to get any progress.

  • Gen progress is pretty crazy if you don't run certain slowdown. I play Huntress with full aura-reading and chase perks and there are games where even when I find survivors quickly and down them quickly, gens are still flying simply because I'm not running anything to stop them.

If finding and ending chases quickly isn't enough slowdown to stop survivors, there's a problem.

  • Didn't it already do that? Missing a skill check is supposed to make you lose some of your tokens, so missing one that pops up the second you leave the gen should make you lose tokens too.

  • It doesn't need a rework, BHVR has said they're happy with it being a 'hard mode' perk, a self-imposed challenge that someone can bring if they want.

It's a shame it can negatively impact their teammates but there's nothing stopping a survivor bringing 0 perks and sitting in a locker all game anyway so...

  • Darn that OP perk... *checks notes* ... Breakdown!

  • He didn't get that PhD to end up as a chef.

  • Since Eyrie got fixed a little bit, Garden of Joy is probably the most survivor-sided map you can guarentee to get with a map offering.

  • Maurice isn't just a map prop, you take that back you swine.

Ah Yeah. Swf is too strong since years and the solution is to make the solo gameplay as broken?

The idea is to close the gap in strength between SWF and Solo and thus make is easier to balance Killer around Survivor in general. At the moment you have to either balance Killer around SWF -or- Solo, which creates big problems.

Also solo survivor is the weakest role in the game right now so it needs buffs.

  • Twins could have a sewers map, that's something not in the game and fits them reasonably well since I believe they travelled via the sewers at times. Could also have it be set in the Catacombs of Paris and have it take more from Elodie's lore.

Blight could have his underground lab on that island the Pariahs were at.

Trickster having a metropolitan map with neon lights, but maybe twisted by the entity so it wasn't soooo out of place.

Onryo could have the camp with the well. A campsite with multiple cabins would be kinda unique unless I'm forgetting something we already have. That or the house and the huge barn that Sadako lived in.

  • It's clearly not intentional and it's likely BHVR will eventually fix this but it's not bannable if someone keeps doing it. The killswitch exists and if BHVR doesn't use it then that means they're fine with people abusing the bug.

  • SB is used right at the start of the chase and so the killer has the choice to just not commit to the chase. DH is used deep in the chase after the killer has invested too much time to just leave them.

Sprint Burst is strong but it's not as strong as DH and all of these "yeah well when DH is dead you'll all be sorry" threads are so weird. If SB was better than DH, then people would be using SB and not DH.

  • In the EU region Killer and Survivor both get the bonus for a decent amount of time most days now which is pretty awesome. I don't think there's a massive shortage of killer players or anything and I'm skeptical that any region ONLY ever has a killer bonus.

  • It's a tough one. If the person has been hiding in a locker all game doing nothing and waiting for hatch, then they absolutely -should- be sold out by their teammates.

However, if they're just actually hiding because the killer is nearby then yeah it's douchey to sell em out and I'll usually just kill the rat.

It confirms what I already knew for the most: a genuinely shocking percentage of survivors spend huge stretches of every trial doing absolutely nothing at all. Minutes at a time with zero activity. The game is not that difficult on either side. You mostly just have to play it with your monitor on and do the single objective you have.

It's exactly why you can have back-to-back games as killer where one game gens go super fast, next game they just never get done. Genrush builds are nothing compared to survviors just actually doing gens instead of standing around.

  • I've been pleasently surprised with the new icons. So often you'll see the one survivor being chased and all three on gens, it's awesome.

Actually get a bit anxious when the game starts as survivor because often it's like a race to not be the last one on a gen.

  • They're pretty inconsistant with it, some skins have barely any dirt at all on them, and others are absolutely caked in it, really weird.

I get they're trying to keep it in-line with lore and stuff but we've already gone way past the point of realistic skins that the entity would give killers and survivors for the trials by now, there's plenty of fanservice skins so may as well just make most new skins clean.

  • Personally I find Plague a lot more fun but Wesker is a lot more popular with the playerbase so I guess he has more general appeal.

Wesker is more mechanically-difficult when it comes to aiming his power (though Plague's vomit does take time to get used to), but Plague is a lot more difficult in the macro, decision-making aspect of the game.

As Wesker you're mainly going from chase to chase but as Plague you need to be a lot more aware of who is infected, how infected they are, where your pools are, when should you be focusing on fully infecting people vs when you just want to down and hook them, when to drink your red puke vs focusing more on infecting people. Aura reading is especially useful on Plague because you need to know where everyone is before drinking your red puke.

That's not to say Wesker is braindead, far from it, I really struggle playing him, but Plague is particularly difficult to get into and I feel that's a big reason she's so rarely played, despite being potentially really strong.

As far as perks go they're both fairly even, but Plague wins out a little due to Corrupt Intervention still being really strong on certain killers. Dark Devotion is okay but with too short a duration to capitalise on a lot of the time, though Infectious Fright is a solid perk, especially on killers like Oni and Myers who have short durations of being extra-powerful that encourage a little slugging.

Awakened Awareness is a decent general-purpose aura reading perk but it's outclassed by many others that proc at better times, but it shines in 'backpack' builds alongside Agitation and Starstruck or Mad Grit shenanigens. Superior Anatomy is okay but usually doesn't make enough of a difference to warrant taking it. Only worth it if you're intent on bringing Bamboozle on someone and want to bolster it. Terminus is amazing at countering Adren (when it's working correctly) but is fairly meh outside of that niche. Decent on Plague if you don't like survivors all cleansing at endgame. Adren is a popular, powerful perk though so that's worth noting.

Honestly, survivor perks are, on average, flat out terrible.

There's quite a lot of garbage on both sides but it does seem that a few survivors have all three of their perks just being bad or at best mediocre. Oddly enough most of them are DLC survivors too.

Like why buy Haddie, Ash, Elodie, Jane, Yoichi or Jill if you mainly care about perks? You get a couple of 'fun' ones like Head On, Deception or Blast Mine but if you're looking for strong, reliable perks there's nothing there. Heck you could argueably add Ace, Leon, Ada, Yui and Quentin to the list, though they tend to have at least one serviceable perk.

  • @Firellius said:

Interestingly, Azhymovs released a video just two days ago where he and his discord mods compiled data from a number of self-reported trials. This data is therefor obviously not entirely reliable, but in terms of least used perks, I think it's pretty fair.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A8P3PCZavo

According to this video, in over a hundred games tallied, the following survivor perks made NO appearance whatsoever:

Blood Pact, Buckle Up, Inner Focus, Mettle of Man, Overzealous, Poised, Red Herring, Self-Preservation, Soul Guard, Up the Ante.

The following killer perks made NO appearance:

Dissolution, Hangman's Trick, Hoarder, Overwhelming presence, Septic Touch.

While some of those are unsurprising, it's a little odd that Up the Ante is there, considering Slippery Meat must have been used by someone, and you usually would run them together.

Also Hoarder is at least usable on Cenobite and Dissolution isn't like bottom tier terrible.

Also poor Haddie, Cheryl and Ash each having two of their perks never used. And each of their third perks aren't very good either.

  • Eruption isn't necessarily OP, it's effect is strong don't get me wrong, but the main issue with it is that there just isn't any realistic counterplay for survivors who aren't all on comms.

Even now with the updated HUD where you can see if someone is injured and in chase, you can't tell survivors "just don't do gens when someone is injured and in chase" because that takes away far too much time on gens. Someone injured could still run the killer for ages, especially with Dead Hard being such a popular perk. Conversely someone injured could go down in three seconds, you have no way of knowing, and that's the problem.

  • Honestly they could completely remove the distortion effect of Off the Record and it's usage rate would likely remain the same :p

  • Also even though I would -love- to be able to see other survivors' perks in the pre-game lobby, I -could- see it causing an issue when it comes to certain builds or certain archive challenges.

I mean imagine seeing one of your teammates running zero perks, or just Self-Care and No Mither, or running a build like Sole Survivor, Wake Up, Distortion, Left Behind or something like that.

It would cause more lobby-dodging and we already know that backfilling lobbies massively screws up MMR.

  • Pipping as survivor is just too hard in my opinion. Once you get to Gold it slows right down and at Iri it's just absurdly difficult to even get a +1 pip. Iri 1 Survivor is actually one of my final 2 achievements left to get but I know I'm never gonna get it unless BHVR changes the pipping system at some point.

As killer it's just so much easier, simply due to the fact that you're always going to be in the match for the entire time, and you can't be tunnelled out of the game. Even a really good survivor is gonna struggle to safety pip if the killer decides to just tunnel em out.

  • Yeah since the patch pretty much every game on RPD has had those two spawn and it's brutal. I mean even when it's the usual one downstairs and one upstairs it's still pretty bad but now it's just asking the killer to 3gen.

  • So would it be 1v1?

  • I've seen it trend with the correct spelling a few times, give it a few weeks and it'll be back to the wrong spelling.

  • I wouldn't say DBD is the worst neccessarily but it's up there as pretty darn toxic. Now -all- big gaming communites, especially for pvp games, are gonna have a lot of toxicity, but DBD seems worse than many I've played, and as far as entitlement goes is certainly the worst by a long way.

Also anyone saying that toxicity is just a part of online gaming, well partly, yes, but it doesn't need to be this bad at all, and I do blame BHVR majorly for how bad it's gotten what with their stance on 'trash talk' being perfectly acceptable.

Inner Healing being the ONLY one, though. Solidarity saw no use, Second Wind saw no use, in fact, healing perks were rarely picked at all before CoH, barring Inner Healing and Self-Care. Even Botany rarely saw any use.

It's eliminated hit and run tactics from killers, which forces more camping and tunnelling.

On paper, yes, in practice, no. Because CoH doesn't just reduce healing time by an invariable amount in most cases. Same misconception popped up in another thread the other day about how CoH is the only boon that wants to be away from the killer, and that's incorrect.

We'll Make It was used a decent amount and is still a strong healing perk even now. Yes Solidarity is one of the worst perks in the game and Second Wind, while decent, just isn't quite enough, especially because more CoH means more self-healing which means it's harder to even activiate it.

Those are more problems with the designs of those perks just being bad, or at least not quiiite being enough to make it worth bringing over other perks.

Heck Botany after it's recent buff now made Desperate Measures completely redundant. Even before the buff Botany was better in more situations but now that it gives a flat 50% healing speed, you need everyone injured to make it even sliiightly better than Botany so why bother?

  • You can see people's prestige level in the lobby, assuming they don't switch at the last second, so can always just dodge high level prestige.

Also Midwich is the best map for killers, even those that it doesn't suit amazingly.

    Healing takes 16sec.

Old Botany takes 12sec. New Botany takes 10.5sec. That 17% buff which sounds like a huge number, only save 1.5sec per healing compared to old one. With the downside that getting a Brown medkit in chest cant heal yourself.

    • If I cant heal myself with Medkit, so I should give Medkit to teammate. If I give Medkit to teammate, why should I use Botany to begin with.

    The same situation with Pharmacy.

    • Im unhooked, should I stay under hook and let my teammate heal me for 16sec. Or I spend 30sec running around being injured to find chest, 10sec open chest to get Green medkit just to save 5.5sec healing?

When people bring Botany they're usually doing it so they can either stack the healing speed with a Medkit (and they'll put extra charges on the medkit to help eliminate the downside) or they're bringing it to make Self-Care a little bit faster.

They're generally not gonna be looking through chests for medkits.

I get what you mean though, why bother bringing it at all when CoH is just better?

  • The ability for survivors to reliably heal themselves at a reasonable speed is incredibly strong. That's why Medkits are the strongest item survivors can bring, and why Self-Care EVEN NOW is still decently popular, and that isn't even a reasonable speed.

If Circle of Healing only sped up the heal speed when you heal others, even if it was back at 100% like at release, it would be used far, far less. So long as the perk allows people to just run to the boon and heal themselves whenever they want, they'll need to make the self-heal slow.

  • Oooh secret German lore.

Circle of Healing could do with a small nerf, it's still really common and shuts down certain killers and playstyles too easily but I hope they don't nuke it into the ground.

  • @Barbarossa2020 said:

If perks were sorted into catagories so that they couldn't be stacked alot of this would be null and void, rather than just a endless rotation of nerf/buffs.

You can have old dead hard, but you can't have borrowed time. i.e one "survival" perk.

You can have old ruin but not eruption, things like that.

Some perks straddle the line between multiple categories and some are hard to categorise in the first place. Not to mention everyone has a different idea as to what category certain perks would go into in the first place.

OTR is a 'second chance' perk AND a stealth perk for example.

  • While I do think Nurse does need some more nerfs, her recent changes were important and needed. Yes she's still the strongest killer in the game and genuinely good Nurses are barely going to feel the nerfs whatsoever, but it's still better than nothing, and after the changes settle, I'm sure BHVR will be open to further tweaks.

  • @bm33 said:

So killer mains can complete the Happy Holidays achievement for opening mystery boxes in the blood web during events.

    Ah, that makes more sense.

  • I've always found it weird they have that as a report category when they've taken a firm stance that they welcome unsportsmanlike behaviour.

  • ... why would that be reportable?

Like yeah I completely agree it's a douchey thing to do but I'm not sure what rule it would be breaking.

Also as far as being mean in endgame chat, as mentioned above, BHVR believe that hurling abuse at others is part of online gaming.

  • Oh I'm so glad they introduced limted time cosmetics to help make the store less complicated to use. It all makes so much sense now, they were thinking about their customers the whole time. Love you BHVR.

6.1 also nuked the slowdown meta. So to compensate gen repair perks are about to get nuked to, yes?

I mean they nuked Ruin and nerfed Pop and Corrupt quite a bit but there's still plenty of strong slowdown perks for killer to choose from.

CoB/Overcharge/Eruption and even individual perks like Pain Res, Deadlock and Jolt are strong.

Also Pop and Corrupt are still serviceable perks on certain killers too, only Ruin was nerfed into uselessness.

  • Survivor archive challenges encourage throwing the game FAR more than killer challenges.

  • Crouching survivors have a hit-box that's centered around their booty so you gotta puke on their booty.

  • The lack of extra wiggle progress is fine, the main issue is that killers don't seem to be being moved around much at all, despite the fact they're supposed to be being moved around -more- than before (if you hit your greats)

  • I wish they'd just get rid of it and give him something else. Or let you hold onto it permanently but weaken it a bit.

Best action against Nurse is to break line of sight and then mindgame.

This is what I always figured. If you're within her blink range then holding W is pointless, you need to do at least some amount of mindgaming.

  • Just feels bad that survivors are forced to hold W against her.

The title, "fellow Haddie mains" implies that I, the OP, am in fact a Haddie main. But please tell me more about how we don't play the game.

Well I'm sure there are some people who genuinely do main Haddie but from the amount of people on Twitter and even these forums who stan her, you'd think she was actually somewhat popular with survivors in-game but... well she's almost bottom-tier in terms of being played. I see more Jeffs, Adams and a similar amount of Quentins compared to Haddies.

  • @Mr_K said:

Going back to origin doesn't help when a survivor holds W.

True but it just means there's even less reason to try and ever loop her. You're outright punished for NOT holding W.

  • Yeah it's only for a few seconds when you come back to the menu after a game, so god forbid you go afk for any reason.

  • @HamsterEnjoyer said:

What's up with the care for Haddie? She hasn't even been OUT for a year and everyone is screaming and crying for a Haddie cosmetic when Jeff and Adam haven't gotten any in over a year. Haddie is not only unpopular, but she's still a newish survivor so ofc its gonna be longer before she gets more outfits. Vittorio's tome was made before even he was AND he's a wildly popular survivor already so ofc he's gonna get some focus

Yeah I don't really understand the JusticeforHaddie people. They certainly don't seem to play the game because I never see anyone playing Haddie.
