I don't think it's fair to say ds rewards bad choices on the survivor (At least not the survivor using it). I use it in solo for when the killer tunnels or a "teammate" farms me. This game was designed to be a 4 v 1 but solo survivor feels more like you're against the killer and other survivors.

As killer I have no problem with DS. I don't tunnel. Simple. Or I have the brain cells to know who was uncooked in the last 60 seconds and the cop on not to pick them up.

As for NOED I think it's fine. It rewards a killer for playing with only 3 perks. Survivors can just do totems.

At the end of the day both perks are used to counter aspects both sides complain about the most - tunnelling and gen rush.

I see where you are coming from but at this point ds isn't a anti tunnel perk because you can down and hook someone then go back and still be hit by it. It rewards the survivor for failing to get away from the hook outside if that I completely agree with you. I don't mind either perk I just have a problem with people complaining about killers one second chance perk while survivors have like 6.

I completely agree with that, but still considering that a good player doesn't need crutch to play well and keeping in mind that NOED is currently one of the reasons why we can't get decent totems spawns, I would be down for taking a "hit" and getting it nerfed considering it's a perk that I don't need but rather I would definitely need my other Hex perks to spawn in a decent manner.

While I see where you are coming from NOED is not why we don't have good totem spawns. It's just one of those problems that happened and is slowly getting fixed like with the lery rework. It's something they are working but it will take time.

  • @Vert3x said:

DS needs a rework so that the 5 seconds stun isn't eaten when a killer has hooked someone else in the meantime or other conditions are met, but NOED needs way more of a nerf, it's just a crutch perk that only bad players really need that causes the devs to be unsure on how well they should hide totems.

Having NOED nerfed to the level of a normal Hex perk would make it possible for BHVR to do focus on improving every single totem spawn and making sure that no bullshit cross-map visible totem is ever generated again.

That would automatically buff every single known Hex perk by making it so that you almost never see it cleansed before you even get a chance to reach it physically.

When it comes down to the recent Ruin rework, I believe it's better on some killers like Bubba but not gonna deny that a game slowing perk is needed, maybe even buffing Corrupt Intervention into something more solid would be enough.

Oh and before anyone says anything, I'm usually called a Killer main for most of my opinions even though I'm actually a 50%-50% player, so yeah just keep that in mind before you accuse me of being an "entitled survivor main".

NOED is just a blatantly crutch perk that any good killer player admits to be overpowered.

DS is just as much a crutch. I rewards poor choices on the part of survivor just like NOED does for killer. You can't get mad about killers one second chance perks when survivors have like 6 some of which can be used at the same time.

you know what else is part of dbd? slugging and making survivors sit there for 4 minutes doing nothing with no recourse.

If your team isn't able to get you up in 4 mins then the killer has to be camping at which point the rest of your team should be doing gens and escape. Camping is a real strategy but it's not an effective one.

The person who DC's doesn't get any bloodpoints. So again, I respectfully disagree.

But the person DCing is also taking bloodpoints away from those who stay. One less person means less altruism. One less person means getting found is a lot worse and mistakes are amplified so game tends to go quicker which means less bloodpoints. So I have to disagree.

Why dont all survivors just run DS, BT, DH and Adren/Unbreak ?

Excluding not owning the DLC's obviously.

Personally im not try hard enough to do it, I know how powerful it is but in my years of gaming I have found many many MANY players do gravitate towards that which just gives them the biggest advantage.

So yeah, why dont you run that build all the time?

I personally just dont enjoy using them. Occasionally I'll run BT but normally I run Iron Will,Calm Spirit,Urban Evasion, and any other miscellaneous perk if feel like running. Haven't settled on a final perk

  • @darknahu said:

I understand that I'm a new player and that I have to learn lots of things yet. But I really thinks It's not only me, 14 matches of 30 was against the Doctor. Math says that the killer is really strong and people know that, It's almost like 50% of matches are against him.

Besides that, every survivor dies just like me. I would like to know the winrate.

I'm not trying to get people mad! I just want to know if you consider that he is ok at the moment or not, and if the Devs has to do something with him.

People aren't playing him because he's strong. People are playing him because he got changed and is the most recent new thing and he's part of the tome challenges. You'll probably see a lot of spirits too. And it's for that same reason that his killrate seems to be so high because newer players are still figuring out how to play against him.

  • @Lunah said:

I'm a survivor main and i think that the new ruin is pretty ass. I'm a red ranked survivor and the gens go bye bye in literally less than 2-3 minutes. It's unfun for both survivor and killer because the games go by so fast so we can't really do anything lol. I get why the devs nerfed it because it had a positive and negative impact on matches and it made it easier for newer players but like if we learned to combat ruin i'm pretty sure they could too. Since the ruin nerf survivor queues have been longer than before the ruin nerf and its probably because killers don't want to load into a match and then get gen rushed 2 seconds later. Please bring old Hex: Ruin: back.

Wait you mean survivors got longer waits so they no know what it was like to play killer? I used to have to wait 30mins to get a game.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Because rank 15 baby survivors (the target group of the developers), don't know how to loop. So instead of telling them to get good (like they did with killers when they nerfed Ruin), they just add complete safezones on maps.

    Someone is salty.

  • I don't mind tunneling a toxic survivor but people need to stop tunneling just because a teammate or I made noise at the start to get a head on stun for the rift challenge.

"Get good" should be a bannable phrase with how much people spout it to derail actual conversation.

Not all of us are going to commit to memory something as arbitrary as token spawns. I'm not switching onto Small Game for several reasons, mainly that it doesn't fit into my builds, and a majority of killers don't use it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1052032#Comment_1052032

I complain about it because it is bad perk design 101. Followed by No Mither.

There are TWO perks that give you exposed with no warning: Devour Hope and NoED. One you have to work for. That is the issue.

I know it can be cleansed and prevented, but when I climb to red, solo about 50% of the time (usually only 1 other person in SWF, sometimes 2), relying on randoms and using perks to keep myself alive, also limited by Archives challenges, Small Game literally does not have room in any of my perk builds.

How is noed any worse than the survivor second chance perks? If killer having one or two second chance perks is bad perk design then survivor perk design must be atrocious.

  • @homagegray said:

Do I really have to point out that doing bones is incredibly pointless? Most other survivors don't do them, it takes time away from doing something productive, and you have no idea whether the Killer is running NOED until it's often too late. This perk rewards bad play on the killers side and punishes survivors for playing well.

Oh so you mean just like DS or BT or Dead hard, ECT. Why should survivors be the only ones with second chance perks?

  • @homagegray said:

Of all the things I have found wrong with DBD, the biggest issue I have had for way too long is No One Escapes Death. I refuse to see why this perk has went so long without a nerf. I'm not going to say to remove it, but something needs to change, because I'm tired of playing a game great only to die immediately to NOED. And it's hard to find the will to stay on the hook, since then all you do is risk killing anybody else. I'm not saying ditch this perk, because I understand that the best use of this perk comes from matches that went poorly for the killer. However, this inspires toxic gameplay. I absolutely despise the fact that you can do awful the entire game, yet still possibly net a 4K due to this single perk. Ruin was changed because people hated how annoying it was, but Ruin didn't need a change anywhere near as bad as this perk. Here are just a few ideas on how to nerf this perk: 1. When the killer runs this perk, change the design/color of the totems, that way it is worth it to cleanse dull totems, but doesn't totally eliminate the possibility of NOED actually triggering. 2. Have a requirement for the exposed effect, like only have the exposed effect if 4 or 3 of the survivors are still within the trial. This will still help Killers who've had a bad game, without entirely removing the ability for the survivors who've played well to escape. 3. Buff the survivors in some way. This doesn't have to be a big buff at all, but anything that makes it slightly easier to not die immediately is worth it. Like, how about removing all the survivors' exhaustion or make vaulting pallets and windows a bit faster. Just one of these tweaks would make playing against a killer with this perk infinitely more enjoyable, without making this perk worthless to run. Please, anybody consider this and spread it. Out of all the current balance issues, this one seems the most obvious.

It penalizes ignoring totems and it gives the killer a second chance. If they need or remove killers one second chance they better do the same to all the survivor ones.

I like the idea of that and have heard people mention it, but I don't know how they would do it. I think it would be really cool to have him be able to teleport between lockers like a fun house. Just an idea.

I really like this idea especially if the animation showed him coming out of the locker. That would be amazing but would you be able to grab survivors in a locker by teleporting to it?

  • @I_Face_Camp said:

Whys everyone saying Clown? Hes a solid killer to play and hard to go up against. Definetly in a good spot imo. Although I wont decline a buff to any killer at this point

I don't completely disagree with you but in my experience he struggles a lot on maps like coldwind with a lot of open space because one of his strongest abilities is that survivors tend to run away from the gas so he can control where they run. But on maps like coldwind they can mostly just run around

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

"Plan Ahead" would be OP. Hex perks would have be immune from it. You can't have a perk that negates a killers perk completely. It should only counter it, not render it non existent.

"Intel" - No. Survivors already have advantages at windows. This is too much. In order for this to be balanced, it would have to be like the old OoO days, where regardless if more than one person had it, only one person could actually use it.

    Field Medic is actually okay.

Other than that, he sounds like a Hispanic version of Bill.

I disagree you about Plan Ahead because it doesn't only show lit totems. I think the slow down could be a bit bigger but I do t think this perk completely shuts down hexes.

  • @MrPeterPFL said:

Not to be rude, the perks are creative and different but why does it have negative factors? Imagine having Fixated “Walk 20% faster but run 20% slower”, it’s a bit random.

I feel like the slow down is nessasary to not just shut down hexs completely and 15% is not that big of a slowdown.

    Hello

All those non sense ideas that you bring up and people complain about it, just make them happen and don't listen to them.

I can't wait to see this game die within 1 to 2 years.

I already stopped playing killer as I'm discouraged with irrational changes you put in and I even barely que to play survivor.

There are so much games that have basic things making sense so I don't bother those non sense ideas you bring up every cycle.

Its really impressive to see that you make such irrational decisions.

Doing pretty """good job""" so far guys (to kill your own game).

Oh and I hope I didn't say anything bad to break your sweetheart's heart this time, "anonymous" who goes around and suppress people's freedom of speech :)

And just a friendly recommendation, you guys should play some hundreds of hours on one of the popular games like LOL, Apex legends, Rainbow six, Dota etc. Just to learn how developers of 21st century games run their games with patches.

Awww are you sad that you lost your precious ruin? You make a lot of claims to irrational decisions but you should try using these thing called examples or your opinions have no value. And how would playing a bunch of games from genres nowhere near dbd help them improve the game? Last time I checked dbd wasnt a Moba,, shooter, or battle royale.

    "OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY NICE"

Lmfao this bs is so funny to me for some reason. It's called "being bad" not "playing nice"

Stop defending the survivors' fragile egos and accept there is no nice way to play dbd, stop catering to the survivors' enjoyment when you know damn well almost not a single person playing dbd cares about the other players' experience.

Was it not recently on another thread that you got on to me because you assumed I said people who needed ruin are bad? Yet here you are doing the same thing. And I for one care a lot about whether both sides have fun that's why I refuse to use thing like moris that pretty much shut the other side out of the game. Don't speak for the rest of us just because you don't care.

  • My question is do we need to increase the risk of "doing" totems because there are a lot of players that ignore then unless a hex is actually active. I think a better idea is increase the penalty for not doing them. I think it would be really interesting of the hexes had text that made it so that broken hexs respawn on a dull totem once the gates are powered.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123525/keys-are-toxic

I personally don't have any problems with keys...since i dodge every "key-lobby"...its on the same level as ebony mori

Please tell me. In what sense are keys the same as moris? I'm genuinely curious because from where I'm sitting for keys to even be used for two people to escape 3 gens have to be done and half the survivors have to die. To get all 4 out is. No different than than using the exit gates. Compare that to an ebany Mori. Hook once then tunnel for the Mori kill then repeat 3 times and gg because there we physically not enough people to do gens because of 1 mistake. Your thoughts?

  • @ZoneDymo said:

idk why you care so much about 1 game...

Because it's not just one game. This is a common occurrence anytime a survivor runs a key. He used his game as an example not the focus of the post.

  • I would an do recommend this game to a lot of people but I also warn them before they get it that there are a lot of problems that are slowly being worked out and a very toxic community. But to be fair whenever dbd is on sale I tend to buy it for my friends. I've bought dbd about 10 or 11 times at this point

    @Kongtwenty12

Just because two mechanics are being compared, doesn’t mean they were insinuating that they had similar power.

In this case they were being compared because they’re both problematic for keeping escapes and escape times consistent.

I understand that in this case but there are a lot of post on this forum where people are demanding keys and moris get reworked even though keys are nowhere near the power of moris and I've never gotten anyone to explain to me why they feel that way.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Will they address keys and moris which can also skew stats?

Can someone please explain to me how and when keys apparently became really strong To the point that they can be compared to ebony moris? They are a lot harder to use and rely on your teammates dying to be any different than opening the gate.

  • I've seen you comment. But heres the thing, you assume that you uninstaling matters to any of us. What meaningful contribution did you make by posting this? What was the point? Nothing and there is none

So it really shouldn't be a problem to get her if you want it that badly ya know?

Problem is that Ruin was balancing game, without it game is sided to survivors. So yes, ppl enjoy balanced game but not survivor sided game and Ruin was making diference.

I have to disagree to an extent because I never really used ruin and I main plauge and clown when I play killer. Neither of which are really good at slowing down the game and I never had an issue with it because the "genrush" that people tend to bring up is not as common as they make it out to be.

I never used ruin or ds either but that doesn't mean I ignore why people felt the need to run them. Tunneling and map pressure are huge problems that you can't shrug off with git gud.

I understand that. My point is if one perk is enough to decide wether or not you enjoy the game then that person probably doesn't really enjoy the game. Not once did I say that using those perks means you need to get good.

No I have played at least 13 matches against the new doc and spent a fair amount of time play as him. I love where doc is at the moment. He's actually fun to play against and as. The complaints I addressed aren't as bad as they are made out to be

If ruin was "neccessary" at least treat the survivor perks which are actual bandaids the same way.

I am. I never used ruin and I dont use ds. And I think that people that are blowing up about a single perk having problems or is changed need to reevaluate if they actually enjoy the game.

    New doc is complete bs.

    1) shocking survivors so that they cant vault and getting a free hit- its ######### bs and abused by docs constantly

    2) static blast cooldown is WAY too short. Bring whispers, get an idea where someone is and hit an ability to shortcut finding survivors. Yeah that's cool.

    3) this is a bug but ds not working against doc is gambreaking BS. 50% are playing doc so I cant bring ds right now, so cant even use it against other killers right now. Docs know of this bug so act like noone has ds and tunnel the ######### out of everyone. So much fun.

    1) doc was always able to shock and prevent vaults, healing, pallets, ECT. That's the entire point of shock therapy

    2) the entire point of static blast is to find survivors. Just cause you don't take clues like the really loud charging sounds or the fact that you can get in a locker is not docs fault

    3) if you need ds to win a game that's on you. I get that's it's a bug but you are the equivalent of all the killers that quit or changed to survivor because ruin got changed.

People need to stop complaining about everything before anyone has even has a chance to see how everything goes. The changes have been out for 2 days. chill out

  • @Sleephartha said:

It’s WAY too easy to find survivors with that. Probably the single best survivor locator in the game. I realize you still have to chase and catch but this solves half the equation with no effort. You can locate survivors once a minute. You can sort of counter by timing hiding in closets but it happens way too often. Only other real counter imo is gen rush, which sucks for solos. Whatever. I just think it really destroys any chance of stealth play. If you aren’t a good runner, you’re now fd.

Yeah because getting in a lock when your in the killers terror radius is soooooo hard. And it's not like there are really loud and obvious sound effects when he is charging/using static blast/shock therapy. Oh wait there are and they are really easy to hear.

If that's how you feel that's fine. If a change to a single perk was enough to kill the game for you then you probably weren't really enjoying it in the first place But, I never used ruin to begin with so idk. I hope you can find a game that can satisfy your wants more.

I've already resorted to slugging, camping, and tunneling. I used to kinda care about the fun of the survivors, but this ruin nerf killed any regret I have when I demolish a team. I'm playing for myself and my fun only at this point.

I'm hitting my ebony and ivory mori reserves right now, and I'm enjoy the end game chat.

This nerf was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

I mean that's fine and all but at a poi t that kinda of playstyle gets boring really fast because every game is the same. There's no challenge anymore so why even play?

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

First, there were always complains about Billy. So its nothing new.

Second, ruin wasnt out of nowhere. There always were calls for making it more friendly to new players. Lately due to SWF change it came up more and more again.

Third, no we wont stop calling for killer nerfs, cause there are still several issues that needs to be changed.

What about all the survivor nerfs that need to happen? If you want to push nerfs then you need to push both sides or youre just trying to unbalance even more?

  • Nah we need to make every killer into survivors so that the game becomes 4 survivors against 1 worse survivor. Then all those survivor mains will be happy

  • Everyone hates on the new ruin but I honestly like it. Think of it this way. One of the biggest problems with matchmaking right now is the killer queue times. This is due to the fact that there are more killers than survivors most of the time. Ruin gets changed = less new survivors quiting and playing killer/ more salty killers going to survivor . And that just means more games for all of us.

  • Of course for both sides

    Killer

    - i don't use moris. I just think they are unfun for everyone

    - i only run BBQ if I'm bp grinding

    - I don't use ruin but that's more personal preference than a rule. I do like the new ruin so I may start using it

    - no tunnel/camp

    Survivor

    - I don't use decisive

    - I don't tbag

    - I don't use flashlight or key unless I find one in a chest

    - I will always go for the unhook unless I'm on 3rd hook or the person bmd me. (For example, in my last game a teammate dropped a pallet specificly to stop me from escaping)

    - if ruin is in play I always just brute Force through it

They did a good job with the doc changes at keeping him the same, although they changed the snap out of it for no reason, that's the easiest thing to do, and they made it twice as easy. I would have liked it if Doc got stronger though, like the stance change is a slight buff, i guess, but he's one of the weakest killers, and they reworked him based on survivor's fun, not like a freddy rework to make him a little stronger. Honestly, instead of nerfing the strong stuff, they should buff the weak stuff, not just killer side, but survivor side too, like how they did kindred. It would make the game alot more interesting if all perks and killers were at least similar, not all have to be equal. But things like deja vu and beast of prey just suck.

@Jacksansyboy Doc got a lot stronger with his changes. Not having to switch stances is a pretty big buff, static blast makes it so that he can easily find survivors throughout the entire game not just at the start, and his shock therapy was made wider. After they fix some of the timing things like the delay and cool down on shock therapy doc is gonna be in a really good place.

While that is true both groups are holding the discussions back so that no actual solutions can be found.

  • Personally I love clowns power. I'm relatively new to playing clown but from my expirience his power is great for directing survivors in a Chase. Their first instinct is to run away from the gas so some well timed bottle throws can completely mess with a survivors loop and if the decide to follow through then the chance of them making a mistake is greatly increased. Plus I love tossing a bottle in the air as I head to a gen and right before I get there it hits making 2 or 3 survivors scream so I can get an idea of if I need to worry about hitting the gen or pursuing the chase.
