Honestly that's a pretty cool suggestion.

Would be curious if this would make the perk too obnoxious to face though, as it is effectively removing its counterplay.

I see the counterplay as survivors opening gates ASAP, just as they used to. If the gates open as soon as someone gets hooked, BW is active for less than half of the EGC timer.

I see the counterplay as survivors opening gates ASAP, just like they used to. The only difference is that now they have a timer to worry about. I believe that was the devs intentions with EGC to begin with, but everyone knows if there's an exploit to be found, it will be found. Like 99ing gates. lol

  • My survivor BP farm build is P3 Claudette, WGLF, BT, We'll Make It, and a perk of choice, maybe Prove Thyself for full farming potential. Basically try to unhook as often as you can. If you're in terror radius, BT procs. If not, you get fast heals with WMI. If you're stuck on 3 stacks, tank a hit for someone.

ALWAYS get totems you see, even dulls. 14 seconds for a dull totem is 1k points. 80 seconds on a gen is 1250. 40 seconds on a gen with one other person and PT is more efficient timewise and pointwise.

You should max altruism easily, and other points will come naturally if you do totems and work on gens together.

  • Red rank killer and survivor PS4 here.

Oni is harder to control on console. I played 3 games with him on release with tier 1 perks and no addons. The first game I only got like two hooks because I couldn't control his dash at all. By the third game I got a 2k but still had issues figuring out the best way to control it.

I've mostly played survivor since release just for archive challenges, and I think I've only seen one Oni in about 20 survivor matches. Probably because people are giving up after only playing a few matches with him.

  • @ad19970 said:

It's probably going to have its uses now, but it still is only good for endgame, which means while generators still need to be repaired, you are playing the game with only 3 perks. Bond during the entire match is still better in my opinion. I do feel like they could have increased the altruism action speed even more, but at least now the perk looks like a decent perk.

True, but I like to play endgame survivor builds sometimes. Adrenaline, Hope, Wake Up, and now NOLB. I think it will be great. It's fun becoming basically a god in end game if you finish the gens.

  • I have had a lot of killer games lately where it becomes impossible for me to see a survivor when they're basically in a dead zone. The frame drops and lag spike causes my screen to just look like a giant blur and I end up swinging at air.

  • @kisfenkin said:

I'm sorry but don't like that idea. I have no interest in being grouped with someone on the other side of the planet just because they clicked my region. I'd rather wait for a fair match.

Also, your assessment of Japanese players is pretty much racist. The descriptions you are giving are not of Japanese players but of rank 20-15 players. I'm guessing you are also grouped with other enormous Asian countries like China, South Korea, etc. but you are calling out one specific group of people. So, rank up. There is no way survivors at rank 1 are doing the stuff you describe.

lol you overestimate East Coast US Rank 1 PS4 players

  • I always wait until reset for my Adept killers. Only have to get the PLAG and Oni when he releases.

  • You're doing fine, especially if you're new. If you're getting stuns, that slows down and potentially irritates the killer. If you are running and wait at a pallet just so you can get a stun, some people say that's wasting it. But as you get more experienced, you will know how many times you can run a killer around a pallet before you have to throw it down. Search "pallet looping" videos on YouTube, just play the game organically, and through videos and in game experience you'll be a pro in no time. (:

I still not try the tome 2 flashlight mission yet

You don't need to save anyone. Just get a blind. Go to pallet, throw pallet, blind killer as they kick it. I suck with flashlights, but I brought a purple with double batteries and got it after I finally didn't face a Spirit. lol

  • Snowballing a 4k with Hag. Nothing more satisfying than 6 traps going off and all four survivors being downed in less than 30 seconds.

    Survivor (Any)

Stealth Build : Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Iron Will (only if its 100%), Quick and Quite.

    • Variations : Lithe for Sprint Burst, Urban Evasion for Iron Will.

    Killer (Hag)

Favorite Build : Discordance, Franklin's Demise, BBQ n Chilli, NOED

    • Variations : BBQ can be switched for Dying Light. Hag is good at steam rolling once she has momentum.
    • Strategy : Use Discordance to try and force them to split gens. Start of match use it to find survivors. After hitting someone with FD you MUST place a trap on or as close to the item as possible, they WILL come back for it. 90% of the time they go back for the item. Now people say that NOED is not needed on Hag. I'd argue that NOED it BEST on Hag because she can start chases and get at least one hit extremely efficiently. Most times you won't need NOED but the times that you do you'll be happy.

    Killer (Wraith)

Favorite Build : Nurse's Calling, Thanatophobia, Dying Light, Sloppy Butcher

    • Variation : Stridor for Sloppy Butcher
    • Strategy : I use Wraith as a hit'em fast and mind game killer. You want to Stealth, Hit, Stealth, Chase them at angles and block potential running locations while uncloaking.

Discordance, BBQ, and NOED are all useless on Hag. You dont need information perks with her; your traps should be doing that for you.

Ruin: slows down the game to set up a trap web. You only need about 45-60 seconds to set up a solid web. Even if Ruin is cleansed almost immediately, this SHOULD give you enough time to set up.

Franklin's Demise: you are 100% correct in trapping dropped items because survivors will come back for them, often injured. This can be swapped for Thanataphobia or PGTW, depending on how many items are in the lobby.

Monitor and Abuse: a 16m terror radius gives huge advantages, from easy first hits to confusion.

A Nurse's Calling: pairs perfectly with M&A due to the small terror radius. You shouldn't chase with Hag, and using M&A with ANC lets you catch survivors that you teleport away from when they're injured. They won't have time to escape when you sneak up like that.

  • If I'm sober, it's 50/50. If I've had a drink or two, it's 90/10 with 90 being makes. If I'm four drinks or more, back to 50/50. lol

  • Hag: Cracked Eggshell + Dead Cicada. Helps you teleport from almost across the map, and allows for awesome mindgames at loops for survivor that know how to bait the traps in a chase.

Plague: Don't play her a whole lot so I forget the names, but the purple one that makes Vile Purge more affective and the green one that gives a faster cooldown and more speed while charging Purge.

Huntess: FINALLY got my adept Huntress last week. The hindered and exhaustion hatchets did the trick for me.

Trapper: Trapper Bag and Setting Tools. Love the extra speed while placing traps, and it also helps with the "survivor gets trapped and immediately gets out" BS that seems to always happen when I don't run tools. lol

Spirit: I love the activation and haunting speed addons as well.

Doctor: Restraint + Moldy Electrode. Easy tracking with more hallucinations and better shock range without too much charge time, so it's easier to shut off some loops.

  • If I get tilted playing survivor, I play a couple of killer games and vice versa. If that doesn't work, I play a different game for a bit, then come back to it. Usually works. Sometimes I just have an off day for one side.

  • @Psychopathy said:

In the event your item and add-ons are depleted, then you lose the item. Doesn't matter if you escape or not, a medkit won't magically come back. However, this can be gamed if you use ALMOST all of the charges and escape.

I should have noted that I don't use all the charges. The last match I played I had a purple medkit with double charge addons. Had over half my charges left. Still lost the item and addons.

  • I like playing solo too. I'm rank 1 on PS4 and play probably 95% of my survivor matches solo. I know what I have to do to pip, and when I run into a really good group of survivors, it's a pleasant surprise. I think a multiperson escape just feels more rewarding when playing in solo queue.

I just had a match where the first hook suicided themselves 1 minute in, so it was 3v1 with 5 gens to go. The David and Dwight I had with me were awesome. We all had long chases, finished all gens, and the Dwight brothers ended up escaping, even with a huge handicap. It feels much more accomplishing to do that solo than in a swf.

  • When I play survivor it depends on how I play. There are some games where I complete two gens by myself and run the killer for two or three minutes, but I end up getting no altruism. In red ranks that's not a pip if you get hooked even once. Black pips in red ranks is frustrating for me as survivor, because I feel like if I had left my gen or didn't break that hex totem I found or didn't take aggro for a survivor I knew was on death hook, I wouldn't have escaped, but the emblem system screws me over for it. I would rather escape than pip, because pips come with winning over time.

  • How can it be unethical when you get points for it, and when a perk gives you a point multiplier for doing it (We're Gonna Live Forever)?

  • I use Nurse's, Sloppy, BBQ, and STBFL. His small terror radius let's you catch people with Nurse's, Sloppy forces them to heal longer, BBQ because duh, and STBFL is great on him because you should only waste two stacks max on your Obsession if you're saving your T3 pops for them.

  • I typically stay sick against Plag until at least two gens are done. At that point, I will try to cleanse in a pool that is near a completed gen, or in a corner of the map. This works best, in my experience, because she has to go to what is essentially a dead zone of the map to gain her power. She'll waste about half of her Corrupt time simply heading back from the fountain and finding a survivor, and if that survivor is halfway competant, she'll waste her entire power with one with, maybe no hits. There are some maps, like the Swamp maps, where it seems like every fountain is in an obscure corner with no gens near, and those maps are where you can render her power almost useless.

  • Yeah, I have hardly played Demogorgon since release because frame rates are horrible with him on PS4.

  • Rank absolutely does not determine your skill in this game. I've been playing DBD on PS4 since August '18 and have about 1k hours (aprroximately, based on average play time per day, since console doesn't log time spent playing). I've been a rank 1 killer and survivor every season with the exception of my first month. Here is my most recent story of how rank means *almost* nothing. TLDR at bottom.

Last week I was playing solo queue survivor. I solo queue about 90% of my survivor games. Playing on Rotten Fields and I start working on a gen. Ruin. No big deal. I always work through it unless I'm having a particularly bad RNG with skill checks. I see a survivor get hit on my HUD. Ten seconds later, he's down. I'm guessing it's a Spirit with recovery addons considering how quickly he went down. Survivor gets hooked. I'm still working my gen (about 50% now). I see a second survivor get hit twice in less than 10 seconds. I abandon my gen and go for the save. As I'm unhooking, second survivor gets hooked. I see Ghostface in the distance, not coming for the first hook. These guys gave a Ghostface four hits and two hooks in less than 60 seconds (nobody got exposed). How?? I get the second unhook. We try to double heal, but second hook Sprint Bursts away, in the direction I saw the killer going. I heal first hook. I get a second gen to 50%, another survivor down. I go to rescue this survivor too, assuming the others are looking for Ruin. I find it on my way to the hook. Get the unhook and break Ruin. GF finds me on my way back to my gen. He chases me for around two minutes, in which time one gen is FINALLY completed. I'm rescued and don't bother to heal. At this point I've accepted our fate. I pop the first gen I started. People are dropping like flies now, getting exposed. I rescue my fourth survivor now and heal them. I pop the second gen I had started. So now three gens have popped, two I did completely, one done while I was chased. I've rescued four survivors and healed two. One survivor goes down, death hook. Another goes down, death hook. I have my third gen 90% done when my last teammate gets exposed. He goes down at 98%. I pop it, hoping he has Adrenaline, but he doesn't. GF gets the death hook and I hide in a locker to avoid BBQ. I run to the opposite corner of the last hook and happen to find hatch. I ended with 30k points (only survival not maxed), next closest survivor had 11k points. Against a GHOSTFACE.

TLDR - Rank 1 solo vs Ghostface, had four unhooks, two full heals, broke Ruin, did three gens completely solo, other gen popped during my chase, which was the only one to last longer than 30 seconds, got hatch, finished with 19k more than next closest survivor. Rank doesn't matter.

  • I'm a team player/hero unless I get purposefully sandbagged or my team lets me get to second stage on hook because they're running around doing absolutely nothing (rank 1 PS4). If that happens, I immediately switch to Lone Wolf. I WILL locker hop if killer is slugging for the 4k, and I WILL open the exit immediately and leave if you screw me over.

  • I was running a two man swf with my buddy against Pig, just before her EGC nerf. Timer has 1/2 left and I rescue my friend, heal with We'll Make It, but he still has a trap on his head. He runs for the last box to check. Pig starts crouching near my friend while denying the last box, trying to get a head pop. I try to distract her, but she only wants the head pop at this point. I check the typical Badham boiler room hatch spawn, and of course it's there. I run for the open exit and he runs for the hatch. Piggy realizes what is going on and gets the first hit. My friend gets to the preschool, mindgames her at the window outside, and uses Lithe to break for the basement. We heard the *THUD* from EGC as he jumps through the hatch. It was crazy!

  • @SpaceCoconut, I subscribe to you on YouTube, but I'm seriously thinking about unsubscribing and not watching any more of your videos. You are so heavily killer sided, and you don't even try to hide it. I have approximately one thousand hours on this game, split pretty evenly between survivor and killer, so I understand both sides. Instaheals were an issue. Old moris (killing someone before they were even hooked) were an issue (still think survivors should be on death hook for mori). NOED is an issue. But are you really gonna complain because a survivor can vault a window three times? If you chase a survivor through the broken Irownworks infinite 3 times, that's your fault, not the survivors fault. If you chase a survivor through the Strode house, which has a minimum of 1 and maximum of 3 windows, infinite, that's your fault. Learn how to abandon a chase and go for a survivor not close to a strong loop. Survivors need some sort of protection. But now you're asking if their ONLY form of protection is too strong. It's flat out ridiculous to ask that.

You can get there without doing the bs challenges.

Also, I disagree. Most are fine. Only a few are borderline impossible.

Hold up, most of these are totally different than the challenges I have. Am I missing something? Are these leaked challenges for the next tome? PS4 btw, if that matters.

Edit: just realized this says tome 4. Oops.

  • I play a lot of the killers. I first mained Doctor (finding immersed survivors was hard as a baby rank 20), then moved to Michael who I still like to play frequently. I used old Freddy a lot, and I love new Freddy too. Hag is really satisfying to play, but I feel like I get a 4k black pip in red ranks every time, and I definitely get the least points with her, so I don't play her as often now. Trapper and Wraith when I feel laid back, and always bring Spirit when a 4 man swf spawns in.

  • My first ever game I saw the "attempt escape" prompt after getting hooked and quickly tried, three times. Then I got the "struggle" prompt. I remembered watching a YouTube video for noobs that said, "don't struggle on the hook" so I didn't. I guess that video meant "don't attempt escape from the hook." I was furious when I immediately died after trying to follow directions from a poorly made noobie guide. 😂

  • I'm loving Inner Strength and Better Together. I actually like the ability to see everyone when someone else goes down more than I like the gen highlights. It's super useful for knowing if *I* should be the one going for the save, or if I should just stay on my gen.

  • Yes! I play on PS4. I've noticed frame rates are particularly horrible for Demogorgon. Feels like 5 FPS the whole game, with even more frame drops in a chase.
