  • It depends on the players view of what counts as a win, pretty sure a lot of players here will boast about having an 80% escape rate, they say that even when they solo escape and most of the times the other survivors get slaughtered. (By those standards I can boast about having an 80% escape rate too) But by killer standards a win only counts when at least 3 survivors escape, I'd say at least 50% of my matches end up in a draw (2 escapes) and very rarely a win (3-4 escapes) about 20%, for me solo queue is a nigtmare that most of the times ends up being a draw game and me not being able to say that I can consistently win my matches most of the times.

  • Anti looping killers made the game boring, basically there is not much to do as a survivor that would be more effective than holding W to avoid another hit against an anti loop killer.

  • I would do it but then I remember most killers wont show mercy and will not give you the hatch escape even when 2 of your survivor teammates disconnected at the start of the match, leaving you with the impossible task of doing 5 gens with 2 people left if you don't have a key.

  • Survivors had to put up with fake hits over pallets for years, now it's the killers turn...

  • It's nurses, spirits and wraiths for me lately, the irony is that a lot of players say that wraith is not ''that strong'' but people seem to have noticed that he is kinda strong right now at least on solo queue against uncoordinated solo survivors.

  • Killers that can remove loops completely like nurse.

  • Solo survivor is really bad, I can't stand playing solo, I have to play with friends to make it actually fun, it doesn't even get better at high ranks, I am rank 1 survivor and it's mostly the same, you will get the same face camping killers at rank 1 just as often...

Gens aren't that hard to find on any map. Even thinking about proper spacing of the gens is all it takes. If that's not enough, there's a perk called Visionary, as well as maps.

They are for the average player, I always see most players running around aimlessly looking for a gen, it frustrates me but most players just don't know what they are doing...

  • I don't know what to think, sometimes I feel like mmr is secretly on, today I had my first 5 matches, matchmaking was incredibly fast, got matched almost instantly and had a mix of green and purple rank killers, We stomped all killers with 3 - 4 survivors escaping almost every match.

After we stomped our first 5 matches matchmaking started taking longer (up to 10 minutes per match) and we got matched with only red ranked killers afterwards, mainly tryhard nurses and spirits...as if the game identified that we were stomping our matches too often and decided to narrow the search from ''all killer players available'' to ''only red rank tryhard killers''

There were two survivors , and a killer can't kick a gen if someone is working on it, and a killer can't kick two gens at the same time.

If he doesn't want to kill anyone, just work on the gen until it's done.

If he's playing the game, but overpatrolling the gens, harass another gen that the other surv is doing.

If he's playing the game, but you want to quit, let him kill you.

With two survivors left, a killer can't hold a game in hostage, the survivors are holding the game in hostage.

I disagree with that last part, a killer can hold the game hostage too (Not talking about this case in particular) but there's some cases when the killer can trap someone in a room or a corner and stay there. I was blocked by a wraith in a room with another survivor (only ones left) and since there was 1 gen left we could not leave because there was only 1 way out and he just stood there until we disconnected.

  • Closed maps are better for almost any killer since most survivors struggle to find a generator, it' like having a free corrupt intervention...so I guess having more pallets is to compensate for the lost time...

  • Thanks for the invite but no thanks, see ya later!

  • The problem with camping is that it turns the game into an extremely boring experience especially for new players, I've invited people to play the game (I gifted them the game hoping we could play together one day) and tunneling and camping are so prevalent that they get a really bad first impression of the game, some players expect an interesting game with action.

I Invited a friend and I asked him what his first impression was and he said: ''I had to wait 10 minutes for a match, just to get downed at the start and had to stay there doing nothing until I died on the hook'' this happened to him for his first 5 matches in a row and he sincerely asked me if I thought this game was exciting or fun'' he didn't stay invested and never played again...

Your blood point idea is good for people who already like the game but blood points is not an incentive for a new player who doesn't care about leveling up characters if their first impression of the game is that the game is just boring because they do nothing but watch their character slowly die most of the times, and the ''get good'' argument is terribly bad, if a new player thinks the game is boring from the start he is not gonna stick around to ''get good'' and that's basically a ''lost customer'' for the company.

So the problem here is the terrible and boring experience that most new players get when playing the game and get camped, getting more blood points or having 3 survivors escape the match doesnt take away the fact that the guy who got camped had a boring experience.

  • Popping 3 gens means nothing if they did gens at random, if survivors 3 gen themselves the game becomes killer sided and can even end uo in the killer geting a 4k even if 3 generators popped early.

You hadn't mentioned bones previously, and you still admit you didn't attempt a sacrifice for the unhook and your pips. I stand behind the "red ranks don't safety pip" and believe you could have tried. I think you've got a real sore attitude about a video game and it's rather unpleasant. The dumbest thing you did was not try and earn those emblem points and then complain that you didn't pip. Have you ever achieved rank 1? If you haven't ever achieved it, that would explain your soured speech about it.

Regarding wraith afk, I'm pretty sure you could have hunted him, listening for the squishy noises he makes, using movement collision to find his exact location and attempt a flash light burn to reveal. From there, I believe you can run around in circles in front of him and rack up boldness with faux chases.

''You hadn't mentioned bones previously, and you still admit you didn't attempt a sacrifice for the unhook''

If he was in the open maybe, but he was in the basement which is literally a death trap against a bubba, you will end up giving him another victim, and a teammate did in fact try to bait him out but he just didn't want to come out of the basement so we decided to do gens and escape.

''I think you've got a real sore attitude about a video game and it's rather unpleasant''

I'm just saying that the emblem system has a bad design and it punishes survivors more than killers if the killer decides to camp or go afk.

''The dumbest thing you did was not try and earn those emblem points and then complain that you didn't pip''

Understand that you have to rush gens against a camping bubba, if the gens are not done before the hooked survivor dies, he can just down another victim and repeat the process making it even harder to complete the remaining gens, if you go and waste time trying to get the points most likely we would all have died instead.

''Regarding wraith afk, I'm pretty sure you could have hunted him, listening for the squishy noises he makes, using movement collision to find his exact location''

Yes we were right besides him dude, for some reason I guess 3 minutes of being near him wasn't enough...we should have stayed a whole 10 minutes there doing nothing but run in circles, boring.....

Hey, look at that, you were accurate about that detail. Upon further review of this article, the first two times a survivor is hooked, you lose emblem pts.

If the discussed issue at hand has to do with depipping due to camping, that article does indicate that a safe unhook would have restored this loss, with a possible protect from a melee strike. At the same time, you would have earned more than enough boldness pts being within 5m and possibly losing a chase.

Since time was taken to do so many gens, there would not have been such a severe loss of survival emblem pts which suffices to say, you would have pipped if you had tried anything other than working on gens and simply leaving. Given that you didn't do bones and you were not ready to sacrifice your life for your teammates (and your pips), a red rank in this situation merits a depip.

Awesome detail analysis on your part, I'ma human and sometimes I misplace a category for certain actions and events.

The embodiment of entitled killer main, pretty much asking survivors to go and harass a basement bubba to get points when it's probably the dumbest thing you can do against a basement bubba, you can end up giving him 2 victims instead of 1, the only thing you can do is do gens which still ends up punishing the survivors despite escaping.

The emblem system shouldn't be tied to the killer (especially since two emblems of my score system is tied to them and if they go afk or refuse to participate they can deny 2 emblems completely and troll and de pip survivors) I've had matches were the killer goes afk and survivors end up de-piping, I literally had a match against a wraith that went AFK, we opened every chest and cleared all the totems, we even tried to stay near the wraith for like 3 - 4 minutes to see if we could get boldness points to avoid de piping and we still de piped, killers like that should double de pip...

Are you blinder? You don't even have bronze emblems where there is clearly empty space.

While it's clear altruism likely would have killed you, you would have pipped had you tried cooperating at the gen and swapping places with the basement hook.

Because you did not cooperate and because you had 0 boldness whatsoever, even after gens were completed, you will depip at red ranks.

Is that so difficult to understand? Stay at purple ranks if you want to, otherwise put your bias down and accept that you simply did gens and didn't interact with the killer or your teammates at all.

Try scoring 24,000 on death, you will pip every time. 16,000 on escape without any cooperating or boldness, you will depip at red ranks.

Why is is so difficult to understand that those 2 emblems depend on the killer doing something for me to get points on those categories and since he refused to interact with us we got de-piped, my emblems shouldnt be held hostage by the killer.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

In this scenario do not worry about pips.

As I said it's about not earning blood points for the killer so it may dissuade them from doing it in the future.

Doing gens and getting out is the quickest way to end a game like this as I know it's not fun so there is no reason to extend the game.

With MMR hopefully coming soon the pip system won't matter anyway.

I wouldnt have a probem if it wasn't for the fact that I have to wait 10 minutes to get a match (and just to get another camping bubba next match because of how prevalent camping killers are) and just to be a complete waste, no fun, no blood points, survivors losing 4 pips and losing my add ons despite the fact that I escaped and I didnt even use my item that match.

  • @Erasox said:

Why you care about that..the killer is camping..do gens..leave the match..go in the next round problem solved. And many killer not all playing for kills/points/hooks etc. they dont care about fun or whatever.

The point is that it's a complete waste, you get no fun, you get no blood points, you de-pip and you lose your addons for nothing.

  • @PalletsAndHooks said:

Red ranks don't get to safety pip. Additionally, it looks like you didn't even work with another survivor on any gens, so yea you should depip for not making any effort anywhere.

99% of this games fun originates with interactions with the killer. Since nobody unhooked and nobody cooperated on gens, it's 100% direct consequence for a red rank survivor to depip in this specific camping situation. -10 for all when any survivor is hooked. +0 for not doing gens together.

You didn't even go near the basement. No boldness, no pip.

''Red ranks don't get to safety pip. Additionally, it looks like you didn't even work with another survivor on any gens, so yea you should depip for not making any effort anywhere''

Are you blind or do you not see that my 2 emblems are iridescent? it means I maxed out the objectives that were available that match with the killer denying boldness since he refused to chase and altruism since he didn't allow to unhook so the maximum points that were available were achieved that match except the ones that need the help of the killer to get them, like altruism and being chased.

  • @DangerScouse said:

Hide, do gens, escape. Or hide, use key, escape. Easy.

That's not the point, I clarified that we had 3 escapes this match...

  • @twistedmonkey said:

The argument does not mean that you gain lots of blood points and pip. You just want out the match asap without rewarding the Behaviour.

The main point in doing this is about denying the player who does that blood points and pip and hopefully it shows them its not a great strat.

Right but the match is a complete waste, no fun, no blood points, and you even get de piped...and trading 4 survivor pips lost versus 1 the killer lost is not a great trade, pretty sure the killer laughed when he knew he basically made all 4 of us de pip versus losing just 1 pip himself.

  • I think that if devs want to remove pallets they should have an alternative like having the map spawn with linked tiles like a TL wall next to a jungle gym or if they don't want linked tiles they should increase the number of pallets, depending on the main building to loop is extremely bad since good killers know not to chase you there and usually leave you to protect generators.

  • People are using it along with ''we are gonna live forever'' because of the anniversary cakes and bloodhunt events, they just use them because they give more blood points, almost no one uses those perks outside of events because they are simply bad, using prove thyself translates to something like taking off 5-6 seconds from a generator assuming that both survivors started repairing the generator from 0% to 100%. It's not really that good.

A generator done by 1 survivor takes 80 seconds and a generator done by 2 survivors takes 47 seconds (which is a default stat already) minus 5 - 6 seconds that you get with prove thyself is 41 seconds, you are having fast matches because prove thyself promotes 2 players to repair generators together to get points not because the effect is actually that good.

It only saves 5-6 seconds from a generator assuming that you get the full effect, if you used it perfectly 2 survivors will save 25 - 30 seconds from all 5 generators but realistically speaking most of the times it only saves like 10 - 15 seconds since not all gens will be repaired by 2 survivors with the perk, I run it with my duo and most of the times we only manage to repair 2 generators together if we are lucky (which is like a 10 second speed value on 2 gens with 2 survivors repairing them) most of the times we only get one together, 1 separate and the randoms usually take the remaining ones.

  • Players can't even be crative with their own posts nowadays, they just steal a meme and slightly change it...pathetic.

  • I disagree, compared to league of legends the toxicity here is like comparing a sewer (LOL) to unwashed dishes in your sink (DBD) I got death threats almost daily when I played LOL, the worst ''hate'' message I have gotten here so far is ''camping trash killer'' which is nothing compared to the insults I got playing LOL.

  • Yes, sometimes you have to force the killer to break a pallet to get him out of blood lust, so it's a necessity.

Mate why are you always being a sarcastic ass on here to people simply stating their feelings towards the game? Nobody should be instantly dismissing these points, given that they're actually quite reasonable ones.

    The hell is sarcasm?

  • Every ghostface T-bags (because they can) if every killer could crouch I'm pretty sure almost all of them would T-bag a slugged survivor... they're not toxic because they can't LOL

  • Did this on my first try, I guess people have difficulties in different ways, it was super easy for me... if you can't do it on your own then get a team to play with?

  • Saving some of them for bloohunts I guess, don't get me wrong I'm using them every match but I'm gonna save at least 50 for the next bloodhunt...

  • No need to write a novel, the answer is always no, taking away SWF gameplay could kill the game..

But are you at red ranks? Because that's how the game works. If you're in red ranks, you will get matched against other red ranks, regardless of hours.

As killer, you go against red ranks once you hit rank 12, because there are too many red rank survivors.

Yeah but it's still unfair, 250 hours is no match for 5k hours of experience, which is in my opinion more important than a miserable ''rank'' that does nothing for me other than match me with killers that have more experience with mind games and know how to loop better than me... especially when getting to red ranks is so easy in this game as survivor, I got there in my first 2 weeks of installing the game.

  • @suggestivemoaning said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2361027#Comment_2361027

Worse. Survivor players don't go against people thousands of hours better than them as soon as they but green ranks

I disagree, I barely have 250 hours into the game and the game matches me against 5k hour killers all the time.

  • It's always been a mess, I'm rank 1 survivor and killer and as survivor I usually get matched with purple rank survivors, and as killer sometimes I get matched against green ranks.

  • I always wonder about this, I see many people say that they always get flammed after a match but I play killer and rarely get any toxicity, sometimes it makes me think that some players do have a trashy way of playing.

  • Oh I didn't know it bothered you! I will tell every other player not to do it again...

  • I want scooby doo/Martin Mistery characters as survivors, I like to think theres a parallel universe where this happened, I just happen to be in the wrong universe XD

  • I like the idea, I shouldn't be forced to play with someone running self-care and urban evasion if I don't want to...

  • To be fair otz is a very good killer but not the best survivor, he plays like 90% of his matches as killer so I really don't take his survivor tier lists that seriously, ironically there's very good survivor youtubers out there that refuse to make a survivor perk tier list...

  • Some killers are being crybabies over shift + w there's people who complain on both sides...

  • I'd say yes, sometimes you get very few pallets per map (and have to share them with 3 other survivors) and most of them are unsafe and adding a cooldown to the perk basically means you will get it to activate like 2 times per match, I wouldn't give it a speed buff because it feels extremely unfair when you play as killer but maybe a smaller speed boost with a long running time like instead of 150% for 4 seconds, give it like 120% for 6 seconds?

Dead zones are not that common in my experience. Even with that, the survivor at least gets a hit and speed bonus to reach a safe area. If a killer is in a pallet nest or the survivor is holding forward preemptively, the killer literally can’t touch the survivor. Worst case scenario for both roles still favors the survivor.

''Dead zones are not that common in my experience''

I have hundreds of those so called ''not so common dead zones'' from different maps and all from recent patches.

''Worst case scenario for both roles still favors the survivor''

The pictures of those dead zones are a free down for insta killers like bubba, it's not always survivor sided...

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2356763#Comment_2356763

That part you said about “basically trading a health state” is wrong. Even on maps like Hawkins, you can outplay the killer at a pallet. Eventually they will commit to a hit. If you guess right, you get a stun and distance. If you guess wrong, the killer gets a hit. That’s how the game should be; it shouldn’t be imposing strong loops that totally eliminate killer gameplay.

Nope you didn't listen to me, see the example above, there was no pallet on both the screenshots I showed and basically no structures so it's basically a free hit on those scenarios...

''it shouldn’t be imposing strong loops that totally eliminate killer gameplay''

Then we can make the same arguments for survivors, complete dead zones like the ones I showed above completely eliminate survivor gameplay, but apparently weak killer mains get triggered if a survivor loops a pallet, that's why devs have removed pallets/windows/loops over time and have introduced giant dead zones.

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2356488#Comment_2356488

The thing is, loops are still viable (yes even the unsafe pallets) , but survivors are so used to being in control and unable to deal with killers having counterplay that they now just run forward while the killer is miles away. I’m not blaming survivors who do this by the way. It’s something the devs need to address.

The thing is that the game has changed over the years, we no longer have the maps we used to have, now we mostly have very unsafe loops followed by a giant dead zone so you throw the pallet and have to make a run for it, some generators spawn on a complete dead zone with not even a single pallet or structure nearby, you basically have to trade a health state to get a sprint burst and hope you make it to a pallet or TL wall, you can get a map as bad as having 2 or even 3 generators spawn on a complete dead zone.

    20210630212615_1.jpg

  • Wraith is one of those characters that people refuse to believe is good because he was so bad for the longest time, the thing is that he has gotten so many small buffs over the years that he is good now, his biggest buff being the fact that most maps that were reworked were basically turned into dead zones and most pallets are now unsafe. He can basically get to your face, uncloak and with his burst of speed he can get a guaranteed free hit almost every time, his speed burst basically lets him do the same with most pallets and TL walls.

A few years back most maps were vastly populated instead of being dead zones, we had lots of windows and safe pallets that basically made his speed burst useless, with all those reworked into tiny unsafe loops and generators that spawn on dead zones his speed burst now makes a difference.

  • The irony is that back a few years ago we had windows, pallets and the map was vastly populated with structures, killers complained about that so loops/windows and structures were removed, if you remove all that then there is nothing to do other than run from the killer since there's very little to loop nowadays, most maps have 90% unsafe pallets that can only be looped once before you get hit, loops that are so unsafe that even if you throw the pallet down the killer can still take 3 steps and hit you from the other side. Also they have introduced so many killers that can hit you through pallets and windows that the only option left is to run. what are they gonna complain about next? crouching? curse those survivors for crouching!
