I keep reading that a lot of the cheaters are people who got a bunch of Epic accounts back DBD was offered for free. Wouldn't an easy solution be to disable all those free accounts that haven't been activated yet? If you signed up for a free account that long ago and haven't used it yet, it's 100% likely that you're just using it as a burner account to cheat. Seems like this would at least resolve a decent percentage of the cheating.

At least bots don't refuse to touch gens for the first 5 minutes of a match like a lot of my solo q teammates do

SWF on comms

The game has gotten exponentially more overwhelming for new players because of how much content gets cranked out. I'm a ~2,000 casual player and even I am overwhelmed. As soon as I sort of figure out how to play against the latest killer, another one gets released. I understand that BHVR needs to keep a constant revenue stream going, but it seems like they're doing it at the cost of turning off new players. Everyone I've tried to get to play the game with me has quit immediately because it was too overwhelming to learn.
-
I don't mind going against Plague, but it's annoying when your solo q teammates cleanse constantly giving her Corrupt Purge all game long.

It has gotten better for veteran players in some aspects of the game but far, far worse for new players. The amount of killers powers to learn (how to use and how to counter) and the insane amount of perks has gotten totally out of control. I have about 2,000 hours, play fairly casually, and even I feel overwhelmed. As soon as I sort of figure out how to play against a new killer, yet another new killer gets released. Every friend I've tried to get to play this game with me has quit immediately because of how overwhelming it has become.
-
I play plenty of killer and I think teabagging is funny. it really doesn't bother me. However, survivors teabagging on the other side of pallets or windows are far more likely to get slugged and bled out at the end of the match :)

Several games the killer has like 1 or 2 hooks there is 1 gen left someone will go on first hook an instantly give up I don't understand it
I don't ever see that happening in my matches. It's always when 1) some teammates gets downed 10 seconds after first chase starts, 2) someone gets farmed off the hook right in front of killer, or 3) Skull Merchant

Why do I always get this feeling that so many of these "KILLER IS EZ" posts are survivor players who rarely or never play killer?
I play both sides equally - usually whichever has the BP bonus - and I don't find killer to be easy at all. Especially when I'm a non-S-tier M1 killer, survivors have no problem hopping from loop to loop, dropping pallets and making chases last a while.
Is your argument that killer is easy based on your experience as a killer player? If so, I'd love to see videos of your gameplay so you can show us all how easy it is.

I’m not a super sweaty player, I just like to get some points have some chases and meme around generally. Some nice things I like to do for killer when I play survivor are:
-Let huntresses use me to practice their hatchet throws.
-Help billies practice their curve hits by running shack or other corners with them.
-Help killers get their achievements or challenges. One of my friends streams and whenever we are SWFing, if the killer comes in and tells us they’re trying to adept, get a challenge done, get some BP etc. we always help them out. We’ll do some gens, earn points for ourselves then give the killer their hooks or kills, whatever they need done.
Just a few examples. Anything you guys like to do to help out the other side when you’re feeling nice or generous?
When playing killer I try to not be a d*** and go full tryhard when survivors DC or hook suicide

I can rewrite exactly the same message from killers pov.
so stop doing the one (1) (singular) objectives killers HAVE to do to win the game? If youre 1 hook away from death, YOU are doing something wrong as the survivor player. If youve been juiced by failing to loop for more than 30 seconds, lord knows how long youve been blasted for, if theyve done 3 hooks with 1 surv, youve been assblasted, they have been efficient with surv pressure, thats not their fault.
No you see, generators don't have feelings so it's OK for survivors to try super hard and end the game as quickly as possible. Killers have to always be mindful of of other players' feelings so you have to make really really sure that the other player is OK with you chasing them again before you go after them.

If youve been juiced as 3 survivors have done 3 gens together, lord knows how long youve been blasted for, if theyve done 3 gens with 1 on each one, youve been assblasted for 1minute 30 and they have been efficient with gen pressure, thats not their fault. The fact is killers tunnel not because they have to, they do it because there is zero downside and purely because they can. Something needs to be done about how rampant it is in the game but it'll never happen while BHVR are in full blown hold-the-killers-hand mode like they have been for the last year
I'd love to see your gameplay so you can show me how to get quick downs as killer. Please link me to some of your gameplay videos so I can learn. I'm not being sarcastic here - I often see responses like this saying that this is a "skill issue" but no one ever backs it up. I'm honestly trying to learn how to play better. Maybe you can show me how.

Always about the "survivor fun", but no one everyone wants to address that killers need to enjoy the game too. If you want to heavily nerf the killer's ability to eliminate survivors then killers are going to need to be stronger in defending gens.
^^ this
Losing 3 gens in your first chase is also not fun. Maybe take care of that issue and killers wouldn't feel like they have to tunnel someone out early to have a chance.
-
What I don't understand is why it's technically impossible (apparently) for the game servers to automatically detect when someone is doing something that shouldn't be possible in the game. I recently played a game where the survivors used DS every single time I picked them up - like at least 10 times LOL. Why does it remain an elusive technical impossibility to have a game server automatically detect and ban players when this type of thing happens in the game? Instead we are forced into this incredibly tedious and time-consuming manual reporting process which most people don't bother with.
-
I don't know why the devs needed to make things so complicated for this event. They really over-thought this one and now it's a disaster. Just give people cakes or whatever and we can all just play normally while getting much more BP than this "biggest BP event ever" is offering. Not to mention the fact that playing killer is much more difficult because I can't make out scratch marks from all the blood trails everywhere. I guess we haven't learned any lessons from the Busted Borgo map. Total mess.
-
OK - when the killer is losing badly, they should just keep playing the same way so you can vault-spam and t-bag them at the gate.
Seriously though - what do you want to the killer to do when they're losing badly? How do YOU want them to play??

Whether it's me or someone else on my team being tunneled, I'm so Fing sick of it. It is the most boring waste of time ever. Nothing makes me want to uninstall more, and I main killer. Any time I play survivor, it's for the latest Tome, and it is the most unbearable slog of tunneling matches ever.
Killer tunnels the first person he finds. If its you, you really have no chance of even getting your team out because they are casual. If its someone else, oh cool, I get to sit on a gen all match. Or more likely, the guy kills himself on hook, and really, can I blame them?
And don't give me this crap about "YOU NEED TO TUNNEL GEN RUSH TOO STRONG". In these matches, the killer is tunneling at 5 gens. They tunnel, tunnel, tunnel even if a single gen hasn't been done 5 minutes into a match. I'm so Fing bored of having to run a full anti-tunnel build just to be able to do something as easy as "finish 2 generators". And the anti-tunnel build doesn't even work very well.
Okay, maybe the literal 0.5% of killers need to tunnel. But the 99.5% others who are tunneling the first hook with no gens done? Holy crap it is so boring.
When is something actually going to be done about this obnoxious strategy?
Show us how easy it is to win (or even 2K) consistently without tunneling. Looking forward to seeing your gameplay.

Lost 11 matches actually. 900hrs on survivor. I do think there is a "skill issue", to some extent (i am not the most incredible player out there. probably average). But that's kinda my point. The "average player"s experience as survivor has gotten worse, while killers have had their hand held through countless buffs, changes, and new introductions of mechanics. I just wish survivor (the majority of the playerbase) got the same treatment, like they used to!
Please list these "countless" killer buffs. I can think of maybe a couple. I can also think of a few survivor buffs. Both sides have been adjusted over the years, and there hasn't been one side that has seen a disproportionate amount of buffs or nerfs.
-
Also LOL Bond, Unbreakable and WoO should be basekit for survivors? And also "guaranteeing escapes"? Have you ever played killer? I started playing this game a long time ago but I remember how frustrating it is being a new survivor. Brand new solo queue survivor is probably the most miserable position to be in. But you cannot buff all survivors just because of how difficult it is to be a brand new player. As killer, I usually play against what I can easily tell are experienced survivor players. They all know the maps and know how to loop and mindgame. It's already hard enough to beat these players, especially when they're coordinating perks and talking on comms. Giving these players a bunch of free perks means killers will just get stomped even harder.
When you're a brand new player, you just need to accept getting stomped on both sides. I can't think of another online game where this isn't the case. That's the way that I and every other long-time player had to tough it out at the beginning. I'm a very casual, average skill level player and yes solo queue sucks sometimes, but I also have some very fun matches where I and my teammates are able to easily beat the killer. If you're losing every single game badly, it's probably more of an individual skill issue.

Looks like someone just created to an account to complain after they probably deservedly lost a match

Killer Mains always like to preach that it is a Anti-Facecamp-Feature. But yet it is just a waste of work. Because against actual facecamping, nothing would have needed to be done, because actual facecamping was almost never happening.
Yet, camping is very present and the feature did not change anything. In fact, it just made it more frustrating, because you see a stupid bar which does not even fill up while the Killer stares at you and will be at the Hook anyway when someone tries to Unhook.
Why is it a "waste of work"? Enough people were specifically complaining about facecamping, so it did happen and it was a problem. The mechanic was specifically advertised as an anti-FACEcamping mechanic, and it does exactly that. If killer is FACEcamping, you get to unhook yourself for free (on top of the free BT that you already had). At no point did the devs ever say that they were intending to discourage or remove camping (not the face type) - in fact, they have consistently said that camping is a legitimate strategy.
I get that survivor players don't like it (I don't like it either when I play survivor), but when I play killer I also don't like having three gens pop during my first chase because survivors are coordinating on comms splitting up on gens while their fourth buddy who is the designated looper runs me through all of the most powerful loops on a map before I can get a down. Then they coordinate to pallet save, flashlight save and body block to deny hooks. But the devs say that this is fine too, so I live with it.

Telling everyone that they suck and should quit the game. Should go over well.

Honestly who cares what survivors think? You play for your fun because they play for there’s. If I start losing I start tunneling to force them off gens to come take hits or lose a teammate. If they let them die and stay on gens then that’s their choice. I always tunnel on indoor maps because I play Huntress and I don’t think it’s fair that I’m at an extreme disadvantage for being on that map. So I don’t play nice. Just play how you want and if they cry in egc move on to the next match or turn chat off. Simple.
This is probably the best comment in this thread so far. Play how you want to play (within the rules) and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. People are always going to complain about "camping" or "tunneling" or something else being unfair or unfun if they lose. Most players are only happy with their matches if they can stomp the other side. So there's really no point in ever trying to chase this fantasy world where everyone consistently has a super fun match.
-
I personally don't use NOED when I play as killer. I don't have anything against it - I just find other perks more fun/useful. For those who call it a "crutch perk" that gives killers "undeserved kills" - especially those of you who rarely or never play killer - maybe look in the mirror. How many 2nd chance survivor perks (the ones that give you free health states by either doing nothing or simply pressing a button) are you using that give you undeserved escapes?

Do you think most survivor players would prefer a 60% kill rate or a balanced 50% kill rate like it used to be? Who is this 60% kill rate supposed to benefit?
Well, obviously survivors would want to escape more often, so I'm going to go with the 50% kill rate. Why don't we just make it 100% for maximum survivor fun?
"Who is this 60% kill rate supposed to benefit?" - I swear, so many people forget that there are also real people behind a monitor on the killer side who would also like to enjoy the game.

At least you acknowledge the getting gen rushed isn't fun either. Most commenters seem to think only one side has a right to enjoy the game.

It's because it's an insanely easy way for even the dumbest killer with no macro game sense to quickly and effortlessly build pressure. Since a lot of people want to win at any cost and have the mentality " screw the other side, the only one I care about is myself" it's not hard to see why tunnelling is so widely used.
Do feel the same way about survivor players who do anything to win? Rush gens, coordinate with friends on comms, etc.?
-
Why do we need a "solution" to a viable and legitimate killer strategy?
-
I see it used a lot now, proving that the initial rage when it was nerfed was unjustified. It's still a very good perk. Old DH was wildly OP.
-
The solo queue kill rate is 60%, which is exactly where the devs want it to be. That means on average, survivors are escaping 40% of the time. If you play with friends on comms, your escape rate is even higher - closer to 50%. Escaping is supposed to be difficult and not guaranteed. That's why the target rate is 40% which is still almost half of your matches. Not sure what else is going to make you happy. Is the killer supposed to be the punching bag instead? Seems like that's the only thing that would make some players happy.
-
The reporting system is incredibly inefficient and burdensome - it's ridiculous. You would think that there could be some kind of system that automatically detects when somebody is doing something in a game that they shouldn't be able to do per the normal programming, but apparently that is technically impossible. That would be an awful lot easier than recording games, creating clips, uploading clips, having BHVR review clips, BHVR deciding whether or not to ban, etc. etc. Reporting is just not worth the time and effort, which is really sad.

I often present the same challenge to people on this forum who probably never play killer and then come on here to complain about how much survivor sucks and how easy killer is. Nobody ever replies to show us their own gameplay to demonstrate how easy playing killer is.
-
I am probably in the minority, but I actually wish BHVR would take a break from releasing new content for a while and focus resources on game health/balance. Every new chapter just makes this game even more overwhelming and off-putting for new players, even for casual players like myself who have a decent amount of hours in the game but not nearly enough free time to even begin to learn how to play as or against new killers. I understand that they need to do this to keep the revenue stream healthy, but I think there are long-term consequences in terms of how many new players are going to pick up and stick with the game.
-
Best player in the world beats other players that are not best players in the world ---> killers in general are obviously OP
-
@Hexling said:
why not say map design sucks instead of survivor op the survivor has no control over this.
Yeah this isn't a problem with survivors. It's a problem with map design. It's hard to believe that the map design team actually play this game with how long we've have busted AF stuff like this still remaining in the game.
-
There is already punishment for campers. We have free Deliverance and free Borrowed Time because survivor mains kept complaining about camping. If you didn't self-unhook or take BT hits after getting unhooked (which allow you to fly halfway across the maps and get a HUGE amount of distance from killer), then I don't believe you were really getting camped that hard.
-
The answer is the same as it is to the question "what's with the gen rush meta?" Both sides are going to play in the most efficient possible way to win. If you don't play killer, I suggest you try so you can understand why camping and tunneling are sometimes necessary.
-
It's a very good perk. I think it's a bit overpowered with the blindness effect in addition to the killer getting your location. Get it while it's still OP :)
-
Predictably, we're already seeing the usual "yOU Wnt tO pUNIsH PEoplE fOR PlayINg WiTH THier FRIEndS" arguments. Premades, especially at high MMR, have a significant unfair advantage from comms and perk coordination that many on this forum refuse to acknowledge, even though the kill rate stats prove it. All the OP is asking for is a level playing field. Reducing your unfair advantage is not "punishing" you.
-
@katoptris said:
There are no penalties for playing with friends or group. If it bothered you then you need to find ways to exploit their altruism and weak links.
LOL ok then you'll complain about camping and tunneling
-
There's something called correlation. More hours correlates to higher skill, but the R-squared is definitely <1.
-
Wow - the survivor main bellyaching and entitlement has been off the charts on this forum the past few days! THE KILL RATE IS LITERALLY RIGHT WHERE THE DEVS WANT IT TO BE - SOLO QUEUE INCLUDED. The only exception is high MMR 4-man SWF which (wow what a shocker) has a significantly higher escape rate than all other groups. The only thing that needs balancing is a nerf to the significant advantage that 4-man SWF's have.
Survivor is not supposed to be the power role in the game and you are not supposed to escape every match. You should be escaping about 40% of the time and the devs have proven that you do, unless of course you're playing with your buddies on comms and then you escape closer to 50% of the time. Survivors have gotten free information status indicators, free Borrowed Time and free self-unhooking when killer is camping. No more hand-holding is necessary, and the escape rate stats prove it.
Everyone who is complaining should try playing killer for once (I play about 50/50 each role). You know what? It's actually quite difficult once you get to a level where you're consistently going against competent survivors. Most maps still have a lot of very strong loops and pallets that can allow survivors to extend chases for a long time and make it essentially impossible to win without any camping or tunneling with a vast majority of the killer lineup.
Let's start rallying around what is really broken, and that is the matchmaking. Throw out the awful MMR scoring system and put something in place that actually measures skill - it's not that hard. Quit putting hugely varying MMR scores in the same lobbies.

Trying to play down a fact by picking a part of the post that was not well written and making fun of it shifting focus to only that part. What a desperate try to invalidate an argument through manipulation while not contributing anything to the discussion.
Uh, the original post was literally all about how the OP was calling Billy players "scumbags" for returning to the hook when someone is about to get rescued. This wasn't "picking a part of the post that was not well written" - it was addressing the one and only point of the post. @I_Tunnel 's response was a (yes sarcastic but very valid) explanation for why killers do it.
-
Serious question - do you play killer? If so, I'd love to see your gameplay videos to show us how it's done "the right way".
-
@I_Tunnel said:
Apparently now 'going back to the hook' is 'scummy'.
You heard it here, Killers; Going back to where you know 2 Survivors are is scummy, and we should all stop doing it! Survivors deserve to freely heal directly under the hook! 😂
I think a vast majority of the people who complain about camping and tunneling rarely or never play killer, so they don't understand how difficult it can be to win without using those strategies *at least sometimes*, especially against experienced and/or coordinated survivors. They'll complain no matter what because they refuse to look at the issue from the other side's perspective.
There are a few exceptions, but those people who claim that it's super easy to win without camping or tunneling will never post or link their gameplay video to show us how it's done.

Like others have said, solo queue is pretty miserable. I play killer too and I'm tired of getting matched against people who play this game like 18 hours a day. I'm a casual player and not interested in going against multiple-thousand-hour player who know how to abuse every busted loop in the game. Matchmaking is non-functional, so losing matches doesn't seem to change anything. The game is consistently fun only if you play in a 3-4 man SWF on comms.
I think the other big issue is stale gameplay. The devs have made some changes over the years, but it takes way too long to fix bugs or to incorporate any new elements to the game. Some killer add-ons have been updated, but on the survivor side there has been pretty much nothing new for items/add-ons in years. As for the core game mechanics, there has only been one major change in 8 years - the end-game collapse.
To sum it up - terrible game balance that favors one specific group of players + lack of any meaningful changes to core gameplay.
