It's probably because Myers will often bring Tombstone piece add-on, which is by far the most busted add-on in the game. Since the devs refuse to nerf it, people have to resort to giving up immediately instead.
-
This is really disappointing, but not surprising. As long as there are plenty of people still willing to play the game (especially killers), then it seems like there's no urgency to fix bugs, even game-breaking ones like the auto gen completion bug. Guess I'm just going to have to play something else for a while.
If you're a killer player, there is no reason for you to be playing the game right now.
-
There's only one correct answer here, and I think everyone knows what it is…

badham isnt fine its actually the most unfun/ survivor sided map in the game
100% agree. It's a nightmare for killers, as anyone who actually plays killer can attest to
-
A good reminder, especially for new players. As much as I can, I try to get "interior" gens done first. I don't use Deja Vu as I kind of feel like it's a wasted perk slot and would rather rely on my map knowledge/awareness.
-
You have to look at this from BHVR's perspective. Bugs in the game, even game-breaking ones, don't seem to do anything to impact player count. If large numbers of players just stopped playing, bugs would get fixed a lot more quickly. But when the only consequence of serious bugs is a lot of forum complaining, then they can afford to take their time to fix them.

So its fine that killers have 60% kill rate but its not fine if survivors have 60% survival rate in a fun mode? Talking about being biased.
Were you around to remember how long survivors queues were when kill rates were closer to 50% than the 60% they are at now? Nobody wanted to play killer because of how stupidly survivor-sided the felt to play as killer, and that was at 50% kill rates. At 60% (if that's what it ends up being, which is pure speculation because nobody knows what it will be), good luck finding anyone who is willing to play killer after the novelty of the first few matches wears off.
This mode is likely going to be very imbalanced because the devs don't have any experience trying to balance a 2 v 8 mode. It's going to take time, experience, and many adjustments to fine tune. The early days will be frustrating but will hopefully get better.

Killers get a heavily killer sided anniversary event, a heavily sided mid chapter update, and now a second killer in a separate game mode - and they still complain. Are we still wondering why gamers all across the board refer to dbd killer mains as babies?
No, you're the only who refers to killer mains that way, and it's incredibly divisive and immature.

We definitely see the frustration it causes and have shared it with the team, and we agree that it doesn't feel great to have teammates abandon you. I'm afraid I don't have anything more concrete to reveal at the moment, but I'd like to be open about it regardless.
It's a tricky problem to tackle since even if the option was removed, there are other ways to quickly get out of the match, such as running to the Killer after being unhooked. Ultimately if someone refuses to play the rest of the match, we can't force them (in a literal sense, they could walk away from their system and still leave the team one player down).
That's not to say that it can't help, of course - making it more inconvenient can be the nudge some people need to finish out the match - though it wouldn't get rid of it entirely.
Hopefully this sheds a little light on it, and please by all means keep the suggestions coming!
Thanks @Peanits for the reply! Glad to know that it's at least acknowledged as an issue. I fully agree that you can't force people to try. But I do think there are things that can be done to discourage the behavior that haven't been tried yet. One would be getting rid of the self-unhook (on 1st hook, except for Deliverance) and skills check (on 2nd hook) mechanics. The 4% chance and the skill checks are outdated and unnecessary mechanics. While not a perfect solution, it would be a big step in the right direction. Even if the player wants to run back to the killer to purposely get downed, at least they are wasting some killer time and helping the team. Another thing to consider: sometimes I see when the survivor does this, the killer will just slug the person, making them bleed out and not be able to do anything while they sit in "timeout", which also helps to discourage the behavior.

BHVR knows that they can afford to crank out new content quickly without fully testing to make sure that these kind of game-breaking bugs don't happen, clean up the mess afterwards, and really not lose any players. People will trash the devs on the forums, but they are still playing the game and still spending lots of money on it, which is really the only thing BHVR should care about as a for-profit business. Despite the game being massively broken, you can bet BHVR raked in a ton of money on the new content. I do give them credit for addressing some of the worst bugs fairly quickly. But there will be others that take a very long time to fix and will be ongoing frustrations for players. There's really no reason for BHVR to operate any differently because the player counts remain strong and people are still spending a lot of money on the game despite stuff like this happening with every new patch.

I am also not a fan. When something isn't broken there really is no reason to "fix" it.
Getting changes that nobody asked for is a very common theme with this game. But player counts remain strong and people still spend a lot of money on the game, so from BHVR's perspective there's no reason to change course.

The chart demonstrates what I think is the fundamental issue. Same happened to me

I had a game where I was playing killer and I could see were four red gen auras , but gen counter said only one gen left to be completed. #########?? The spaghetti code just gets worse and worse with every update, it seems.

@TieBreaker said:
No. BHVR does not have to consult us before making changes to the game.
Agreeing to be transparent doesn't mean they have to discuss everything with us before it goes live.
They don't HAVE to, but they should. There have been countless changes made to the game that have had to be reversed or further modified because they didn't listen to player/consultant feedback before implementing.
-
I was fine with Knight before. I certainly wasn't asking for him to be nerfed. Not my fault! ;)
-
It would be cool but would take a ton of dev time/resources and probably wouldn't result in more revenue unless it was a paid feature like cosmetics. Hey, there's an idea!
-
If this person is really a super amazing killer player who never loses, 1) why don't you post some video of maybe 10 or so consecutive games and show us how it's done?; and 2) you could make some money as a comp DbD player/streamer, so why not do it?
-
SBMM doesn't work, period. The sooner you accept that, the better. I will will escape multiples matches in a row as survivor and then get paired with trash teammates. I'll lose multiple matches in a row and then get paired with god-level teammates. As killer, it's the same thing. It's completely random, and nobody will convince me otherwise unless data are released to prove it. There's a very good reason BHVR have never released MMR data and why you don't see MMR scores in the game. Doing so would reveal what is already plainly obvious.
-
I'd rather get rid of map offerings. They are kind of bulls***. As long as map offerings are a thing, I'm fine with people having a way out of a match that is going to be unfairly stacked against them on either the survivor or killer side
-
For those here complaining about tunneling, let's see how good you are as killer and try winning with zero tunneling against good survivor teams. Post your videos and show us how it's done.

It just occurred to me. Are you sure the gens were regressing?
It's not uncommon for a killer (especially a beginner) to not fully kick a gen by incorrectly relying on the animation instead of the sparks.
yeah i watched from afar and sparks were flying every time

I definitely think this event is the worst one in the last few years. Powers like insta hooks and insta break pallets and insta heal into exposed so you’re still a one shot… Way too killer sided. Events are supposed to be as fun for both sides as possible and that’s where they seriously dropped the ball here.
Also it’s hella disingenuous to say “just play normal mode” as if this isn’t a once a year event that people would like to be able to play without getting decimated every match by overpowered event abilities that clearly favor one side. But then again that’s the DBD community in a nutshell. “As long as IM having fun who cares about anyone else and if you don’t like it then leave” mentality.
I'm not getting decimated every match (and I consider myself a very average player). It feels like about the same escape rate to me compared to regular non-event matches. No question the special effects favor killer side, but I haven't been escaping any less frequently than I normally do playing solo q survivor. Maybe it's just me?

The amount of toxic killers is unreal, no matter if I bring in Screaming Cobbler or not I end up being hardcore tunneled. This game is no longer fun for me. I loved this game, the characters are interesting and entertaining, both survivor and killer. The maps are unique and fun, and I enjoyed the recent D&D chapter. But I can't play this game anymore. The game has become a killer sided; survivors can only survive if they join a SWF team. I'm sad because I love this game. I want this game to be as great as I feel it can be, but the way things are and the way it's going, I don't think I can come back. And I was excited for all the upcoming stuff, like the Castlevania Chapter. Again I'm sorry but this is my final farewell.
I survive in plenty of matches playing solo queue. It is possible. Practice and learn how to play better instead of giving up. The devs aren't going to nerf killers because of threads like this. The kill rates for solo queue are right where the devs want them to be. On average you will escape more than 1/3 of your matches, even in solo queue.
-
I don't think this will ever happen, but best solution would be to remove her from the game and give $ or shard refunds to whoever bought her. SM was a colossal failure and it's abundantly clear that a vast majority of players find her miserable to play against. Why does a majority of the player base have to suffer because we can't upset the tiny fraction of players who use SM?
This is going to keep happening unless she's removed from the game.
-
So you're ruining lobbies and matchmaking for everyone because you can't handle someone wanting to keep their info private. Real nice
-
I have also seen some killer players refuse to use the anniversary cake offerings, seemingly out of spite. They will bring a mori or no offering at all. I really don't understand the motivation behind that other than just intentionally trying to be a jerk.
-
It's the best way to tilt the match in your favor, especially when going against SWF teams. Tunneling a player in SWF matches will usually pull the teammates off gens to body block for teammates, helping to reduce the unfair advantage they gain from coordination on comms.
-
Lithe/Distortion/WoO/Clairvoyance. Clairvoyance because I play solo queue and it's a lifesaver for getting hatch escapes in those matches where my teammates either give up immediately or can't evade killer for more than 5 seconds.
-
Play how you want to play (within the rules). Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, but also don't go out of your way to be toxic as some players do.
With that said, it's abundantly clear that many people on the forums only play one side. I think a majority of the "us vs them" garbage would be eliminated if people would bother to get perspective from the other side by walking in their shoes. I play both sides about equally so I am able to understand the frustrations coming from the killer and survivor roles.
-
Last match I played against him he was constantly undetectable and getting constant free hits. So much fun….
/s
-
Knight is WAY more fun to play against than Skull Merchant, and it's not even close. I feel like I can actually do something against Knight and it's not constant no-effort free hits.
-
I hate them both

Imagine having a permanent 24 meter killer instinct placed on you at all times. SWFs are incredibly strong for that reason, me and my friends aren’t that great considering 3 of them are almost brand new and I only have a few hundred hours on survivor but we constantly win whenever we choose to. Unless of course it’s Nurse, Blight, Plague or Wesker.
The killer has essentially no element of surprise at all because me and the others constantly call out their almost exact locations and what direction they are heading. Easily letting a teammate across the map know the killer is going for them so they can hide behind a wall and not be found. Not to mention coordinating all our perks and calling out when and where we are going down and so on. I guarantee if Nurse and Blight didn’t exist, survivors could easily get a 1,000 plus escape streak. I can have my friends bring the best tool box in the game with double charges all running BTL, SW, SB and Scav or Resil and we can win pretty much anytime we want. S Tier killers permitting and item counts permitting. But it’s just not very fun.
Tl; Dr: SWFs are OP because of the insane info and coordination capabilities, and could win more often if they played super sweaty
This sums up the issues with SWF really well. Yeah, being in SWF doesn't necessarily mean the survivors are great at looping and extending chases, but the communication and coordination provide and insane advantage vs. everyone playing solo. Anyone who denies this is not being honest. SWF effectively get a bunch of free perks, on top of the 4 perks that they bring into the match. And killers get no compensation of free perks or anything else on their end.
-
I know a lot of people love the events, but I'm not one of them. During these events you have to be in a totally different mindset of "I just don't care what happens in the match" because there's so much more stuff going on that is outside the boundaries of normal gameplay. It's just me personally, but I can't get into that mindset. I have more fun in normal matches. I usually play the events sparingly until I get any new cosmetics that I want and then play different games until it's over.
-
Despite all my complaints, it's still my favorite game and it wouldn't be possible without the devs and their hard work. Adding my appreciation here

I've played this game for years now and have always been a survivor main. I've had ups and downs for perk changes and that has been fine. Now it's just so stacked against survivors and I have no idea how they would get any new players on survivor. To be fair, I'm mostly a solo queue player and I honestly dont really play meta perks. I'm making my own builds, trying to just enjoy a game the way I want. Killers have been buffed and have perks that there is no way in hell that my builds or ability can allow me an equal chance of winning. The game has been completely skewed towards killers for awhile now and my breaks have just increased in duration. I worry for the state of the game and it's ability to draw in players when the odds are so heavily stacked on one side. People can say that it's my fault because of my play style or whatever but my point is that it has become increasingly less enjoyable for me. Players on the killer side have gotten there way for far to long. The voices of the few should not outweigh the many.
First of all, serious question - do you play killer at all? If not, maybe actually give it a try for a while and then form your conclusions. There are so many people on the forum that say the game is skewed one way or the other, and most of them have probably never played the other side. I really don't have any respect for those opinions.
2nd, you say that you are "making my own builds, trying to just enjoy a game the way I want" - well, that's another problem. Just trying to play chill and not consistently using the better perks means you're probably going to win at below average rates, so it sounds like some of this is self-inflicted.
3rd, you're not supposed to escape all the time. Killer is supposed to be the power role and it's supposed to be hard to escape. Escape rates for solo survivors are around 40%, which is exactly what the devs consider balanced. If you're consistently getting way below that, then that means you probably need to improve yours skills. That's not meant to be insulting - the same holds true for all players, including myself. I play a lot of solo queue and as long as you don't have complete potato teammates, it feels like I have a chance to escape in a good percentage of my matches. I used to be a lot worse and would go down pretty quickly in chases, but with more play time I've gotten better at knowing how to play loops, how to string tiles together, etc. Also, playing killer helps you better understand how to counter killer strategies and learn what parts of maps are strong for survivors.
-
Players have been asking for this for years, but to my knowledge BHVR has never addressed it. I don't have hope that they ever will.
-
I think maybe one time? Pretty much every match has at least one survivor immediately DC or give up on hook. Super fun!

What on earth are you talking about? He is really not that bad for survivors.
That may be true, but I'm just telling you what happens in every single one of my matches against him (which is like 90% of my total survivor matches recently)
-
If you want some really easy matches where one or more of the survivors DC's or gives up immediately, then I'd definitely recommend buying him.
-
Did anyone here complaining about the map play the PTB and provide feedback to the devs?
-
For those complaining about the map - did you play the PTB and provide feedback to the devs?
-
I won't be buying it. And will probably avoid the game for a while (at least playing survivor) because I don't want to go against the new killer every single match. I know a lot of people love new content, but I'm the opposite - every new chapter pushes me a little closer to quitting for good. I'm a pretty casual player, so the game becomes more and more overwhelming for me with the release of every chapter, especially with killers that have complicated powers to learn how to use/counter.

Y’all will do anything BUT get good.
Like everyone is saying thank god there’s good players in this thread. Fake your pick ups, Look around before picking up, listen for other survivors running or breathing. It’s not the end of the world if you get flash banged or flashlight saved literally just chase again and be wary of you’re surroundings
It’s amazing what basic situational awareness can do.
I appreciate the suggestions, but there has to be a better way to counter than the fake pickup and looking around. Survivors who bring Background Player can easily swoop in from far away to counter those tactics. The main problem is that looking straight up, which counters flashlight blinds, should also counter flashbangs and it doesn't. That would resolve the issue of Background Player users flying in from halfway across the map when you start your pickup.
-
I play solo q because all my friends who started playing the game with me quit because of how overwhelming the game is for new players. You really have to be committed if you want to learn and be decent at this game. It is NOT friendly for new/casual players, and it only gets more overwhelming with every new chapter.
-
This was one of the worst ideas that BHVR has had in a long time. Did someone at BHVR forget that they specifically created a feature to avoid repeat maps because nobody likes playing the same maps over and over and over again? This was a real head-scratcher of a decision. I guess based on Steamcharts numbers it hasn't impacted the player count, so maybe I'm in the minority thinking this was a terrible idea and actively avoiding playing the game because of it.
