As someone who has played this game for years, I don't know how anyone can play killer on controller. It just doesn't work for so many killers. I just immediately assume someone is a console player when they say playing killer is difficult.
-
More fun. It's part of why I like 2v8 so much. There may be MMR in theory but it all goes out the window due to long queue times. Makes the matches so much less sweaty and more enjoyable overall.

It's too early to tell, but as I said in previous post, I do worry so it does not push too heavy on restrictive gameplay (overkill to killers). However it's good we at least try to change the least fun playstyles and see where it goes.
I think they've just reached a point where they realized that catering to a minority of sweaty players who predominantly play one side isn't the best way to make the game more popular. It's likely the massive license they have coming up is what sparked these changes. Things like tunneling, slugging, etc are a huge turn off for new players. If little Jimmy who mains Blight can't get a 500 win streak as easily because tunneling is slightly weaker then that's just too bad for him. I can't imagine being a new player right now. First game you get hard tunneled out by a Blight. Second game your teammate gives up because he was the first one down. Third game you get bled out by a Wraith. The depressing thing about current DBD is this isn't even an unrealistic scenario.
-
I think it's hilarious that some people genuinely thought they were never going to do anti-tunnel and anti-slug.

@Aceinbush said:
Make him 4.4 m/s (110%) and I am telling you half the playerbase will drop him like they always do with meta killer until it gets somewhat nerfed (while still being good).
I don't think this will solve much. All of the sweats will still play him. The only way Blight is ever significantly nerfed or made less appealing to play is if they finally do something with his basekit. I do think he needs to be nerfed in some way if only to encourage more killer diversity. A lot of people have suggested that people play him because other killers are too weak. We've tried buffing other killers and it hasn't stopped people from playing Blight. People play Blight because he's OP. Not because other killers are too weak.

2v8 is fine other than Legion and Bots.
-
It's definitely harder. My teammates are worse and most people in the mode can't handle Legion. I'm not exaggerating when I say I had a ten minute+ chase in a game earlier and we still lost with three gens left. This is the most incompetence i've probably ever seen in this game. I don't if MMR is on or off but it definitely doesn't feel like it's on. You add the useless bots into an already terrible team and things get even worse.
-
It's both that and the fact that the bots are completely useless. I don't know if Behavior just doesn't care or if they are genuinely unaware about how bad the bots actually are.
-
Played a lot in the last few hours. My initial problem with this mode was the bots. After playing more I think Legion is by far the worst part about it. The constant mending just makes the game so boring after awhile. The type of boring that makes you want to shut the entire game off for several days. It also leaves you as an easy target for stronger killers. The advice of "just don't heal" does not work in this mode because you can't not heal against strong chase killers like Nurse, Blight, Spirit, etc. You either heal and don't ever get anything done or you don't heal and go down instantly if the other killer isn't completely incompetent. Legion's power just doesn't work in this game mode. I will do the tome and then I will happily not touch the mode again regardless of how high the incentives go. It's not worth playing if I have to go against Legion nearly every match.
-
@Rokku_Rorru said:
I think remote hooking with the ability to save would give killers so much time, maybe for an event mode and give survivors something like the ability to self heal quickly too, or get hook states back in 1v4
Or just put the gens back to 80 seconds.

It's not a killer problem, that survivors don't want to play against specific killers. Because you can't please everyone. And denying Legion players because some whiny children complain about them isn't a smart idea.
You're absolutely right. Giving one person what they want is definitely smarter than giving the other eight people what they want. Definitely will help to fix the problem of long queue times and no one wanting to play survivor. Nobody wants to play against legion game after game. Not experienced players. Not casuals who are brand new to the game either. Legion just sucks to play against and there's nothing else to it. You can keep Legion in the mode but you're going to have to totally rework how his power works for the next version of 2v8.
-
I was watching Hens and he was ranting about how he doesn't even want to play 2v8 because of how bad it is to play against Legion. Killer mains like OhTofu were sharing similar sentiments. Adding Legion of all killers when nearly everyone hates to play against them was certainly a choice. For me the real deal breaker is the bots. They're so bad that they single handedly drag the entire experience down. I could MAYBE deal with them if they were actually competent.
-
@Linkdouken said:
The AI for the bots needs some drastic improvementthen it really wouldn't be as much of a problem as it currently is. There's plenty of clips and the majority of players have experienced the behaviour of these bots acting in detriment to the team
The issue is the bots are intentionally bad. They were bad on release and then they nerfed them to be even worse for no real reason. This is what Behavior wants them to be for whatever reason. In true Behavior fashion they went way too far and made them completely useless at everything. The devs themselves need to go into some matches and actually play with bot teammates so they can experience first hand how useless they currently are. They play like survivors with five hours. Why even have bots when they're so bad that the game is basically over once you get a bot teammate? A dev once said they were added because they want the remaining survivors to have a somewhat normal match if a teammate leaves early. They utterly failed if this was the goal.

Bots are sometimes better than regular players. Lot of folks give up or troll if they make a mistake….
This is the mother of all gaslighting efforts when it comes to DBD. Bots are not better than most teammates in any capacity. The current version of bots are completely useless at everything. They're so bad that I don't know why they even exist in the game. They seem like target dummies for killers more than anything else.
-
Adding bots to 2v8 is predictably one of the worst decisions they've made in recent memory. It didn't solve the problem it was meant to solve and it has made the game mode significantly worse. They're just as useless as people predicted they would be.
-
This entire thread is insane. The bots in DBD are completely useless at everything. They cease to function the moment a terror radius appears. Any game with a bot effectively turns into a 3v1. They were bad when they were released and became even worse when they were nerfed for no real reason. Is this some sort of low effort gaslighting? You'd have to be at the absolute lowest possible MMR for a bot to be better than one of your teammates. Lowest as in you just installed the game and have nowhere to go but up. I complain a lot about solo queue and I have never seen a bot outperform a human player.

Who knows. 2v8 and RE are the two most popular things BHVR has ever done, so combining them is probably going to make for a successful event no matter what, sadly. People who actually care enough to check forums or news are a small minority of the player base.
That said, it would be hilarious if enough survivors hate the idea of playing with bots so much that it actually makes queue times worse. It'd take one out of four survivors deciding they won't play with bots for queue times to be just as bad. Any more than that and queues would be worse.
It's a bad long term decision IMO. Bots in their current state are utterly useless. They break down the second a terror radius shows up and refuse to do anything. I can't imagine how they're going to Behave with two killers running around. Every game will effectively be a 2v6. The last part you mentioned might actually be the case when people realize how bad the match quality is going to be on the survivor side.

@I_Cant_Loop said:
Yes, it would be very helpful for the devs to comment on this. If they keep staying silent on it, all we can assume is that the incentives are broken and the programmers don’t know how to fix them.
I hope this isn't the case. I can personally pin point the exact day the incentives broke for me. It started the day before the last version of Lights Out. I've heard a lot of other people say this is when the incentives changed for them as well. Surely the people who are programming this game can figure out what exactly changed around this time.

I have always believed matchmaking was the main reason for this. It doesn't help that the content creators who sit on the advisory council are openly lobbying Behavior to keep the matchmaking this way because it benefits them. This isn't some tinfoil hat conspiracy theory either. I'm not sure if I am allowed to mention names but two huge streamers have openly admitted this on stream.
-
You guys don't actually want ranked. What you really want is SWF removed but you want to keep the current joke of a matchmaking system that is designed to prevent killers from getting frustrated. You'd lose your mind if this game had a legitimate ranked mode that put you against four strong survivors every match at higher ranks.
-
It's borderline unacceptable that something hasn't been done about the excessive amount of toxicity that is done just for the sake of wasting people's time. You are about to potentially have a massive influx of new players from a massive license. What do you think the first impression is going to be for all of the casual players who have the misfortune of being bled out by some weirdo who gets off on wasting everyone's time? It won't be good and it DOES drive people away from the game. The fact that there are people who defend this kind of thing is even weirder. I still don't know why fully bleeding someone and humping them on the ground isn't considered griefing. Make it ban worthy and it will stop immediately. It's not hard to tell when someone is doing it for the sake of being toxic. Either that or just let us leave the match with no penalty or loss of whatever we earned in the match

Matches with DC don't count already, but in most soloq matches, even without someone DC or gave up on hook, survivors do more for killing, than killer himself.
Hens reached 62% ESCAPE rate in soloq just with him playing slightly more team oriented. And honestly, I don't know how some players in soloq expect to escape at all with their skills, playstyle and knowledges. Majority of players with 1000h I went against know nothing except how to use Lithe as soon as they see me. Good, if they don't jump with it into my face.*reached 62 after throwing out every game where someone gave up on the hook or dc'd. He also threw out a few more games where he didn't like how his teammates played. I went back and watched his streams shortly after this happened and his actual escape rate was much lower. don't know why people act like these games shouldn't count when they are a part of the player experience. Also doesn't even consider WHY people gave up. Was the match unwinnable?
-
The Blight who is currently bleeding us all out and no hooking in chaos shuffle is definitely doing it because of our perks.
-
Artist is by far the one I see the least. I get a surprisingly large number of twins. (Double their pick rate actually)
-
I stopped playing the game in general some weeks ago because of how long the queues are lately. Both normal and event modes. I don't have an incentive and I have to sit five minutes in queue. Not worth the time at all. I don't feel like they changed the matchmaking because my games are still over the place in terms of quality.

i'm not really sure what point this is going to serve or, in the context of forum posts, how this is supposed to change the course of conversations tbh.
personally, I believe that MMR is never an accurate representation of someone's experience in the game (which appears to be a shared sentiment with quite a few others). with the way that people fight so hard to use MMR as a platform for their arguments makes me think that they don't truly understand their capabilities, thus they have to tie it to a number. while i do think it is an issue that this number can now be seen and that people will use it in their arguments even more, because of the nature of MMR and how people generally are on these forms, it doesn't make any of the posts that use it any more valid or as strong of a point to begin with.
frankly i never truly understood the obsession with MMR or why it has become such a major conversation in the community. is it because it's a system that isn't directly visible? why do we care so much about this particular number to the point where we are now using privacy data requests for this?
competitively i can understand, but what sets an actual competitive person apart from those who focus on numbers like this is that they actually analyze their performance primarily on their skills and experience paired WITH progressive numbers over a period of time, not just 1 number. that's why i think that nowadays people are really just trying to find anything to give themselves the upper hand in discussions rather than doing anything productive with it.I just think it's weird to introduce a competitive matchmaking system and not tell people where they stand. Are they afraid people will call out how bad the system is when they see routinely see 10k hour streamers getting matched with low MMR survivors? Are they afraid people will use MMR to talk down to others? As if people aren't already doing that constantly. Everyone on this forum is super duper high MMR and only plays against comp players.
-
Stagnant. Has been that way for years. Not going to change until they do something to make the game more appealing to people who aren't turbo sweats.
-
You know it's too strong when it's banned in comp. The amount of Blights I run into who run this perk in builds is incredibly obnoxious.
-

Do you have some video of your killer gameplay that you could share? I'm naturally skeptical when people on this forum claim that they "win all the time" as killer. People come on this forum and claim this all the time, yet not one of them has ever backed it up with video of their gameplay. I'm not trying to flame you - hope you can understand why I'm skeptical. If you're really winning all the time, even after getting into the high MMR range, then you would be among one of the best players in the world.
No one needs to prove it because practically every killer main who streams achieves a 90%+ win rate when they are playing to win. There's a mountain of evidence out there for anyone who wants to see it. Someone like me who has 4500+ hours winning the large majority of my killer games in pub matches shouldn't be hard to believe at all. We're not playing against comp level survivors.
-
I'm not against complexity in general. I'm against complexity in a game that refuses to implement a good matchmaking system out of fear of killer backlash. Complexity is fine when everyone knows what they're doing. It's not fine in the current system where you're guaranteed to get matched with people who are clueless. Unless you are playing in a SWF. I am not a beginner and I have an above average escape rate. Yet I still get matched with people who don't seem to understand basic concepts. People who should clearly NOT be in a lobby with me or the killer we're up against. It is incredibly frustrating and only seems to get worse over time.
-
In my data most games where survivors rage quit are unwinnable. Of course this is the problem because no one will agree on what a winnable or unwinnable game is. The rate at which a survivor gives up or goes afk in my games is 13.4%. Roughly 3/4 of those are games I would personally call unwinnable. Most common scenario is killer hard tunneling some guy who rage quits on death hook at like 4 gens left. I rarely see anyone give up just because they were the first person to go down. Even people randomly giving up late in the game is more common than this in my matches.
-
@Pit_Bull_Love said:
Yeah...bots suck. The deck is already stacked against solo queue, and now they want to add bots? Lol, next
I don't know why they even added bots if they are going to be as pathetic as they currently are. They weren't great when they were added then they randomly decided to nerf them for no reason.
-
This was already tested and it was livestreamed on twitch. Xeno and four other comp players did an experiment where they didn't tunnel, camp, or slug in pub matches. They even agreed not to use their power. Effectively playing as an M1 trapper. They achieved a 90% kill rate across 50 matches.
-
Gens need to go back to 80 seconds with how strong the average killer is now. My understanding was that they did this partially so people wouldn't feel pressured into running full gen slowdown builds. If this was the goal then they utterly failed since people are running MORE slowdown despite killers being much stronger than they were. New killers are either A tier or are buffed into the A tier at some point. If extremely strong chase killers like Hillbilly and the new Singularity are going to be the standard for killer reworks then why do we need such long generators? People are going to run full gen slowdown regardless of how long the gens take because it will always be the easiest way to win. The way maps are being designed now is yet another reason to make gens shorter.

@indieeden7 said:
Literally, this perk practically makes tunnelling useless and I seem to be the only survivor in my games that bothers to use it, and even then, my teammates always seem to rush in for unhooks before I can even try to use the perk. Seriously wish that solo players would start using perks to help their teammates like we had to pre-basekit BT.
Get rid of the exposed effect and people will use it. No one in solo queue is going to use a perk that puts them in a prime position to be deleted from the game if the killer is proxy camping. Until then this is just a niche perk that only sweaty SWFs will bother with. It's not even in the top 30 most used perks despite being brand new.
-
Scratched Mirror is one of the most boring things you can go against in this game. It's less pleasant than going against a comp blight who is trying to break the world record for fastest 4K. Every game plays out exactly the same and it's not a good time. It's not "scary" or fun to play against.
-
I've seen it successfully used once in solo queue. Just the latest overhyped perk that is nowhere near as good as people claimed it would be. The exposed effect killed the perk for general use which is exactly what I predicted would happen before it came out.
-
This is basically every other survivor game these days. The rate at which it happens now is actually insane. When I started playing years ago it was a once in awhile type of thing that wasn't a huge deal. Nowadays you can't get away from it. Some killer mains will whine about any changes but the game is becoming borderline unplayable for anyone who isn't playing in an organized group.
-
@DancewithmeKate said:
Better solution will be nerfing tunnelling. They should make DS basekit after both hook states. And if killer leaves you on ground, time will stop.
Tunnelling should not be free and that's easy.
It's definitely overpowered when compared to what it takes to successfully counter it. When people post their statistics on Reddit the kill rate always sky rockets to over 80% when the killer tunnels. I would LOVE to see official statistics of what the kill rate is when the killer tunnels. I get the feeling the number wouldn't be far off.
-
I don't play much anymore either. Usually just to burn through the tome on the day it releases and then I immediately go back to whatever else I was doing. For me this is the least fun the game has ever been on survivor. I had taken a few breaks prior to this but I just can't get back into it because of how frustrating playing survivor has become.
-
Yes. I just log off and don't play at that point. I'm assuming it's the split queues as the main cause. I've noticed the overall quality of the game just goes down in general whenever there are multiple queue . It doesn't matter whether it's an event or a special game mode. The queues are just longer and the match quality is significantly worse.
-
There isn't a good excuse for Blight and Nurse to still be as powerful as they are currently. S tier killers are a plague that needs to be wiped out. These are the only two killers I feel need major nerfs. Yet Behavior is terrified to make meaningful changes to either of these killers for whatever reason. You load in against a semi competent player on one of these two and it's just an instant loss. Complete waste of time that leaves you wondering why you even have the game installed. I really don't have a problem with the strength of most killers but these two are just completely unbearable to play against. With Blight his kill rate actually seems to have gone UP after his hug tech removal. Something that sensationalist killer mains claimed would be the end of him as a viable killer.
-
@Xyphus said:
I think that a huge issue of this is lobby dodging..
From my experience, if I load into a lobby where I find 4 Survivors already ready .. This can co two ways.. Either I get stomped, or they do..
If I load into a lobby first and then the Survivors start to load in.. And no one leaves.. Those are great games.. Those feel like they were meant to happen (a few exceptions of course happen.. but rare in my experience)
I wish they'd get rid of the lobby entirely. It adds nothing to the game and is only used to shop for lobbies. I feel like I have 1-2 minutes of my time wasted every time I want to play a match just from people on both sides dodging. It's one of those things that adds up.
-
There is too much to learn in this game and it gets worse with every update. It's also the reason why windows is so popular. Normal players learning the constantly expanding number of maps is impossible. Behavior makes the learning curve worse by having so much RNG in their maps. One game a pallet might spawn and another game it might not. It takes a long time to remember all of the maps, variants, and RNG pallets/windows. This is in addition to learning the massive amount of killers and the proper counterplay for all of them. A great start to making the game easier to learn is to delete map variants and RNG spawns.
-
The Nurse [Killer Rework]
The Blight [Killer tweak]
Slugging Overhaul
Map changes that fix the nerfs where they went way too far. If killers are going to be strong then maps should be designed around that. Maps like Haddonfield can't exist in a game that keeps releasing oppressive killers like Dracula or the new Singularity. Nevermind killers like Blight, Hillbilly, etc.
-
Came back to do some event challenges. Have been bled out or slugged for 2+ minutes in 5/6 games. Definitely doesn't happen a lot. Definitely overblown. I'm currently sitting here being bled out by a Pig on RPD.
-
This sort of a thing is a positive. It's stuff like this that gets the worst parts of the game changed for the better. Notice how three genning mysteriously went away when it started getting a ridiculous amount of streamers and youtubers talking about it. The people who play this way will be the first ones to cry when they make any kind of change.
-
Bad matchmaking. Things like a 5000 hour killer and a 500 hour teammate who runs into walls are way too common.
Too many things that waste your time. These things aren't bad on their own but they add up over time. Examples are people dodging lobbies and causing it to take you several extra minutes just to start a game. Personally I think the lobby is a waste of time in general and should be removed. It serves no purpose other than being a way for people to shop for lobbies. Killers slugging for the 4K is another obvious one. Teammates giving up is another one worth mentioning. Entire game just becomes a massive waste of time when your teammate decides to drop at the start of the match.
Balancing extremes. Behavior is not good at finding a middle ground in balancing. Killers are either extremely overpowered for a pub match or they're extremely weak. Same basic idea for perks. They're either insanely good to the point where they are nerfed into uselessness shortly after release or they're completely useless from the moment they're released. Maps are extremely survivor sided or extremely killer sided. Like why does the current version of Haddonfield still exist? Is there not something between what we have now and what we had before? Is Behavior satisfied with this type of balancing? Is it that hard to make changes?
-
Slugging changes coming finally? Don't think they asked all of those questions for no reason.
-
The overly optimistic part of me likes to believe there will be an entire update where they delete toxic/excessive slugging and any other things that waste people's time. I'd like to think knock out will be a part of it. I've personally never played against anyone who wasn't using this just for the sake of being toxic. The one exception obviously being Bubba players going for adept. The typical knock out user is a wraith who sends you to RPD and just bleeds out team after team.
