It was an unnecessary nerf. It was probably done to mitigate the incoming storm of complaints about how they nerfed regression. Now they can say "Guys we nerfed survivors too!". I totally understand the buckle up and background player nerfs but I can't think of any other logical reason for the DS change.
-
Hopefully a give up option when you are being bled out. Don't know how this isn't in the game already.

This is the pure example of a typical complaint about "why survivors started throwing and leaving so much". When you know exactly what people hate and find obnoxious, pick the exact hated and obnoxious build just to mine some salt and make people quit, survivors actually quit, and then a bit later you create a thread about "survivors suddenly started leaving too much, surely it's because of their entitlement, I guess we must increase the punishment!"
For real though. There is so much of this sort of thing in the game at the moment and it has only gotten worse.

It's never enough is it? Lets push those kill rates to 70%!

Only high MMR 4man SWFs have a big difference in survival rate compared to Solos and even then it's still under 50%.

Doesn't matter how much hard data exists. People will still claim that it's impossible to win against a SWF.

Steam numbers
January 2022 - 40k average
January 2023 - 33.6k average
January 2024 - 28.6k
Slowly bleeding out is probably the correct way to describe it. It definitely isn't growing. You can look at other details like how the peak player count during the anniversary declines every year recently. It isn't just a Steam thing either. The average viewer count on twitch was 31k in January of 2022. In January of 2024 it was 22k. I think the way everyone dipped after the last BP event shows that a lot of people don't think the base game is really worth their time.
-
If the game isn't fun for people then they're going to act this way. I've played this game for years and people did not give up anywhere near as much when I started. There is something fundamentally wrong with the game itself if people are giving up on a consistent basis. Maybe look into that if you want to stop people from giving up. Just whining about people being entitled doesn't actually fix anything and it never will. I've said before that I don't believe the current balance philosophy is sustainable long term and I still feel this way.

No we are not, survivors are still overpowered especially if they are SWFing
Then why do survivors in a four man SWF at high MMR lose more than they win? (real numbers are even lower since they don't count matches with a DC). People keep talking about how overpowered SWF is and the official numbers don't back it up. Where are all these unbeatable SWFs that I always hear about? I Have over 4200 hours and I rarely run into them despite having a very high win rate on killer.
-
Xeno is my most played killer. He's plenty strong enough if you bring emergency helmet and star map every match. Using these two addons is a massive nerf to turrets and there really isn't any good reason to use anything else IMO. If you are accurate with the tail then you should be able to destroy nearly anyone you go against in a pub match.
-
No. Removing hug tech was the right call. People would complain no matter how they changed him. Would you rather they removed one of his rush tokens or made them recharge significantly slower instead? How about making him unable to break pallets with his rush? Any nerf is going to make people mad.

@Header said:
everything they did basically buffs new blights and nerfs experienced blights
And? Blight was ridiculously OP in the hands of an experienced player. He was OP to the point where even against comp level survivors a 4K was the expected result. Pretty sure this is working as intended.

If you are getting 30% you are doing better than most. This game used to be about a 50/50 shot at escaping. But the devs have trashed survivor side so bad that it is probably around 10% for most solo folks. A huge swath of PC players have just been run off in general and console is new enough to the game they don't really know that is was not always like this.
(Full disclosure though after 6yrs I have a very low threshold for BS. So I bounce if it gets to trashy, thus lowering my win rate not because I am bad at DbD but I just can not abide some people's cheap game play.)
30-35% is probably the real average when you account for games with DCs. All I know is that it must be significant if they keep excluding matches with a DC from the stats. Anything below that feels too low. It's too low regardless and I don't think this is type of balancing is sustainable long term if you are trying to grow the game. Look at how fast the numbers are dropping after the bloodpoint event ended. I think there is a clear lack of interest in the base game currently. Numbers can only be propped up with events for so long.
-
I wanted to briefly try the new update and I've died in 2/5 survivor matches because of rubberbanding issues. I don't normally complain about technical issues but this is a bit ridiculous.
-
Even comp players couldn't win against the new twins. I can never tell if threads like this are supposed to be a joke.
-
Artist, Twins, Bubba, Hag, Pig
-
You see it every game even when FTP is only used by 2.3% of survivors. Why do people lie so much?
-
She is boring to play as.
-
I don't know why people think she isn't going to get nerfed. Look at how frequently Behavior has been changing killers as of late. She is going to get nerfed eventually and it's really just a matter of time. People said Blight would never get nerfed and now a lot of high level Blight players are saying he is no longer S tier. I feel like they will eventually run out of killers to rework and then she will be changed. If they can rework Sadako so many times then they can rework nurse. I am going to go ahead and predict that she is significantly nerfed within the next 6-12 months.
-
Steam says I haven't played the game since the 2nd of april. I have gradually started playing less and less since 6.1. Only playing a lot during special events. I actually got to the point where I became legitimately fed up with the ridiculous balance decisions the devs keep making. Survivor is not fun/rewarding and killer is too easy for me. I might try the new patch for a day or two but it won't keep me around long term. I expect the new Haddonfield will remind me why I quit after I play on it a few times. They'd have to make major changes for me to ever come back and play the way I used to. Nerfing Blight is a great start but it's only one of many problems.
-
Nurse. Her time is coming.
-
@Funky_lPunk said:
Was there even need in another rework? I'd say on old patch it was pretty balanced
The current version is only really bad for weak M1 killers who can't deal with the windows. In response they have nerfed it so much that even the weakest killers can 4K on it. This completely ignores the fact that the average killer is significantly stronger than just a few years back. The PTB version is extremely killer sided to the point where it will be an almost guaranteed win for a high tier killer. If it goes live in the current form then it will definitely have to get a significant buff in a future update. Same thing happened with the Borgo rework when they went too far with the nerfs. The better solution would be to buff the weakest killers but they'd rather just make maps unplayable instead.
-
I was always optimistic that they'd eventually realize how busted Blight is and give him a proper nerf. It's still crazy to see that he was actually nerfed by a significant amount. That alone makes this an amazing update. Now we can focus on finally putting the Nurse to rest.
-
Almost always. Leaving is boring and I have no idea how people can enjoy the game without a little risk.

If you guys are surviving 3 out of 10 matches I'd love to know what you're doing that I'm not. I get maybe 1 escape in 10 these days.
Before the 6.1.0 update or whichever one buffed killers and nerfed survivors? sure, a few escapes in every 10. Now? Lol no.
1/10 seems a bit low even when I consider how bad the game currently is. Although people who say they always escape are lying. I'm pretty sure even Otz only got around 40% in his solo queue experiment. He is a 10k+ hour player. The game is just incredibly hard for survivors at the moment. I find that playing during off hours makes the game even more difficult. The matchmaking is even worse and every killer plays like they are in a tournament. The only way anyone escapes consistently in solo queue is if they play like a rat and go for the hatch every game. Nobody is gate escaping after completing five gens on a consistent basis.
-
I absolutely love queuing up solo and getting destroyed by an A tier killer with four slowdown perks. Then to add insult to injury he ends the game with 35K bps while the highest survivor is only at 12k. It's so much fun losing AND getting less reward for your wasted time.
-
If you want them to make real changes then just stop playing the game. Once the money slows down they will make changes. This is how every game works. I haven't touched DBD since the blood moon event ended and don't intend to until there is a major shift in the direction of the game's balance.
-
Problem is two things.
1 . Matchmaking is terrible and produces a huge amount of mismatches. These usually favor the killer since there are four survivors and a high chance that at least one will be bad.
2. The amount of broken things you can still bring. If you bring four slowdowns on a strong killer and tunnel at five gens then no ordinary team will have a chance. Only a coordinated SWF really has a chance and we know those aren't incredibly common. Matchmaking is more likely to put players like this against casuals in my experience.
The solution is obviously to make matchmaking more strict for people with higher MMR. Let's say in the top 20% or so. This way they can't ruin the game for everyone else. Behavior refuses to do this for whatever reason.
-
Deadlock is way too strong considering how it requires you to do absolutely nothing. It's a staple in my builds because you always get value from it. It should block gens for 20 seconds at most. I feel like DMS should be reduced to 20 seconds as well. The synergy it has with some other perks is too much. Pop should have the same system that Pain Res does. You get four uses and that's it. Pop is significantly stronger now due to how they buffed gen kicking and nerfed gen tapping. It should not have unlimited uses. I don't really have a problem with the rest. Even grim embrace might be fine if they did something about DMS.
-
I mean the devs have said they intentionally made the game killer sided. I don't know how much more clear cut it can get. If people choose not to accept it then that's not my problem. DBD is only survivor sided under theoretical conditions that do not exist in real matches. Most of the arguments about why DBD is survivor sided are at least several years old and make no sense when you're talking about DBD in 2024. Even four man SWFs at high MMR escape less than half of their matches. Killer mains told me that SWFs were unbeatable so something isn't adding up. Even on the extreme end of pub matches it's still killer sided. The best SWF currently trying for streaks couldn't even reach 200 wins in a row and lost to a TRICKSTER. Meanwhile Nurse and Blight streaks in the thousands.
-
These day I usually only play during events that give more BPs or when I am doing the rift. Once I finish these I just stop playing until something else comes along. The base game with nothing attached is not really worth playing as a survivor at the moment. The best way to have fun is just to avoid it entirely. My advice is just to take a few months off.
-
Probably an issue of resources and existing plans already using those resources more than anything else. They've been changing a lot of other killers recently. Same reason nurse still hasn't gotten a substantial rework. I'd imagine SM will be changed sooner rather than later and would bet money that it happens before the year is over. Problematic things ALWAYS eventually get changed in this game. Even Blight just got a substantial nerf despite people saying it would never happen (could still be reverted but who knows).
-
My opinion doesn't really matter. The guy who nearly reached 2000 wins in a row as Blight thinks Twins is the strongest killer in the game. Even stronger than nurse. He said they have zero counterplay. Even good survivors now won't be able to do anything.
-
All you have to do is make it ban worthy to bleed people out and it will stop in a hurry. It really isn't that hard to determine if someone is doing it for the sake of griefing other players. If all four players are being bled out at different points on the map then it's 100% the killer being toxic. In the case of an individual player you can sometimes tell as well. If someone submits a four minute video of themself being bled out with a clearly visible hook nearby then why is that not bannable? Provided the video also shows them going down. Is the killer humping them on the ground while they bleed out not proof enough?
-
Killers do not run any variety in my games. My matches are almost always 3-4 slowdowns on the killer. Pop and Pain Res are almost guaranteed on the killers I go against. You can throw deadlock, corrupt intervention, grim embrace, lethal, surge and dms into the mix too. If they bring an info perk it's almost always UW or Nowhere to Hide. Very occasionally I will get someone running an end game build. It's just the same 10 or so perks in almost every match.
-
I really don't understand why Behavior thinks it's alright for survivors to get so few bloodpoints compared to killer. Solo queue players are basically BP pinatas for the killer and you don't get anything for this "honor". It's like they don't even notice how big of a difference there is in an average match. Anyone can see it if they literally just play ten killer games and then ten solo survivor games. They still haven't even changed the laughable 1250 BPs for doing a full 90 second generator.
-
All events like these show me is that bloodpoints need to be buffed across the board. At least they do for survivor. I like going into games and not feeling like I am wasting my time.
-
I don't bring them out of spite. I don't want to give killers anymore bloodpoints than they are already getting. I have thousands of anniversary cakes too.
-
Most Blights I get have three to four slowdowns and are 50/50 on hard tunneling. I definitely do not have any fun in these matches. I still have the last blight I played against in my Steam browser tabs. 6000 hour player who played exactly how you'd expect.

How do you nerf them without killing them? PR used to do 150% in total now it does 100%. Pop used to be a straight 25% and now it’s 30% of the progress. So if you kick a Gen at half it only removes 20% and if it’s at a 1/4 then it only does 14% including the base kick damage. If you nerf them anymore then people will bring even more slowdown.
People bring 3-4 slowdown in almost every game I play anyway. You can't bring more than that. Bring on the nerfs.

Solo q sure but every other aspect of survivor gameplay they actually are in a pretty good position.
Then why do 4 man SWFs at high MMR lose more than they win?
-
I do it out of spite to be honest. I have thousands of anniversary cakes and I usually bring an escape cake. Got tired of killers playing like their life was on the line so I just gave up on bringing them.

@Yippiekiyah said:
Well if they're crutch perks then adrenaline is also.
The perk that requires you to make it to the end game using only 3 perks = crutch perk obviously.
-
One of the worst changes they've ever made.
-
- You lose significantly more than the killer. The average player is escaping less than 40% of the time if we factor in games with disconnects. Players like Otz with over 10k hours couldn't get above 40% in solo queue during their experiment. I always get a good laugh at that one killer main who goes around claiming to escape 70% of his solo queue games. Like do you just hide in a corner with Left Behind? What is the point in telling a lie like this when nobody believes it?
- You get significantly less bloodpoints than the killer in addition to losing significantly more often. Just play a few matches as each side during the current event. Killers get SIGNIFICANTLY more bloodpoints in the average match.
- There is practically zero matchmaking which leads to there usually being at least one weak link on your team if you are in solo queue. You might also get paired with a 5000 hour killer running four slowdowns even if you are on a big losing streak.
- Your game can be completely ruined by the other side if they decide they want to tunnel out the 500 hour Dwight. Maybe they will bleed you out too.
Survivor is not fun due to all of these things. The game is only fun if you have three good teammates which is rare in solo queue.
-
Have not run into a single killer like you during the entire event. Nothing but high tier killers running 3-4 slowdowns and tunneling at five gens.
-
Isn't a nerf coming in the mid chapter? Let's see what they do with that.
-
@HINGIRIK said:
I suggest you try playing killer without tunneling. Then you may change your mind.
Plenty of people on Twitch do this and still win 90%+ of their matches. People then start accusing them of tanking their MMR off stream. There is always an excuse and the goalposts always get moved.
-
All I know is the the current 60% isn't fun from the survivor side. My survivor games are miserable and 90% of my killer matches are me destroying bad survivors. There needs to be a more reasonable compromise at least. Perhaps dial it down to 55% and see how that feels. You could start by reverting the increased gen times back down to 80 seconds. Gen regression/slowdown is so strong at the moment that I don't think killers even need 90 second gens anymore.
-
He is my most played killer these days. His power itself really isn't OP at all. I do think his addons could be tweaked a tad. It's very difficult to actually get knocked out of your power when you run star map and emergency helmet. These two addons are so strong that there is no reason to ever run anything else. So much that playing with anything else feels bad.
-
How can something be called a crutch perk when it requires you to play almost the entire match with only three perks? It's literally the opposite of a crutch perk. It rewards you for playing well. I'm more interested in knowing what your next excuse will be when/if adrenaline gets nerfed. People still don't seem to realize that strong perks that get nerfed are immediately replaced with other strong perks. People will just slap on the likely to be buffed Decisive Strike and you'll start whining about that instead.
