No I know what you're saying and I definitely play against SWFs at night for sure. I'm just saying I've been playing long enough that if SBMM isn't finding me hard matches now I don't know if it ever will, that's what the thread is about cuz it feels like the game has shifted too much to one side.
I mean it's also possible it's just nobody knowing how to play against Hag but I keep hearing people say Hag is unplayable so idk anymore.
I’ve never understood why ppl say she’s unplayable. Hag mains are so rare but when you cross a killer that mains hag they are nasty and hard to counter if you’re not on swf. Hag isn’t easy to play and you have to be so much more thoughtful about your choices. You gotta dump so many hours into hag to be good with her, or really you’re just leaning on luck and she feels underwhelming. I’ve also met a lot of hags with terrible trap placement(it’s right there in the sand everyone can see it, it’s on the other side of the pallet everyone can see it). The ones trapping windows at the bottom and herding though are demons, there’s thought, sentience. Ones that make me go why is there a trap right here?!?! It’s because they’re smarter than the average bear. If you couldn’t wipe her traps, I shiver at the thought.

it’s not impressive isn’t a 3-4k like the standard kill rate now? This isn’t a secret, it’s known they shifted from survivor favored to killer favored. It hasn’t meant anything in a long long time. Just like escaping used to mean absolutely nothing bc it was so common and basically handed to you even though killers had to use every single bit of game knowledge or tool at their disposal that was stacked against them to get wins against even decent teams(not great, just decent), and even then would struggle to get a 4k. Killer has on major training wheels compared to where the game started getting the 5 star treatment, meanwhile survivor is basically dead in a ditch, silver spoon missing. Welcome to the new age. Killer is king. Survivor is fodder. Also remove hatch, the apocalypse is already here.

Do I enjoy being on the receiving end of the slugging tactic? No, it's like I'm playing a video game and it doesn't seem super video gamey when I'm waiting an eternity to bleed out. I am very bored.
Do I believe it is a viable strategy to secure the 4k? Yes, do what you gotta do, I understand.
Those are my thoughts on that basically.
P.S. Remove Hatch.

Your logic is incorrect. It doesn’t matter if a game requires 1 killer and 4 survivors to start, because the 4 survivors aren’t locked into that game for its entire duration.
Someone else might be better at explaining this to you. I just ran out of different ways to explain this.I understand what you’re saying, but in terms of numbers regardless of what’s going on in game, when people are queuing up(it does not matter if they just logged on or just got out of a match, or how many times a killer/survivor got in lobby to go again or what order they exit match) roughly 80 out 100 people need to be queuing up as survivor and 20 out of 100 people as killer. It’s really that simple.

It absolutely matters if survivors leave a game early.
If a current game only has 2 alive survivors in it, and the other 2 survivors have already queued up for a new game, then the ratio for the current game is 1 killer and 2 survivors.
There is only 1 killer spot to fill, so the algorithm is going to prioritize a survivor queuing up to fill spots probably based off wait time and how many slots in a lobby need to be filled and if there are a lot of people on mmr. If not less mmr based. Region. It’s going to run a programming language to meet 4v1 requirements to quickly fill slots based off conditional triggers to action . Programming language for that does not care if a killer is currently in match with 4 or 2 survivors left bc outside of that it’s looking for not in lobby which is 4/1 or 80/20. Idk if I’m making sense.

There needs to be a lot more than 20% playing killer, because many survivors leave the game when they die, and queue up for a new game, even though the current game is still happening.
If you have 60% of the player base playing survivor, and 40% playing killer. Whose queuing time is going up? Again, I’m not trying to be funny but there’s only 5 spots per match making and the “match” won’t start unless the conditions of 4 survivors and 1 killer is met. It doesn’t matter who got out of what match when as long as there is 80/20 condition or 4/1. If the player base is shifting too heavily to one side or the other, what do you think a developer reaction will be? Look at it as if you were analyzing data. I’m sure if the percent is off little from 80/20 give or take either side not much of a concern, but if it’s off by a lot, big concern bc that is very telling.

No, I absolutely understand your reasoning. I did never intend to offend you or go into anything else.
However, this logic is flawed when looking at the overall playerbase, because there simply is no clear cut between survivor players and killer players. People play both roles.
Yes, absolutely there are people who enjoy playing both sides. It will never be cut and dry, to that I agree. It's still ideal to have at any given time 80% playing survivor, and 20% playing killer.

Literally without fail. Even Singularity had a decent kill rate the first couple days and many of us remember how weak it was at the time. Iirc it only took them 3 days for a hotfix which greatly buffed Singularity.
It's only natural that people take a while to adjust to a new or reworked killer. For the one playing them, that's much easier though.
Yeah, they should give it a couple of months minimum before making changes based off survivor feedback for sure when it comes to re-works/new killers. Knee jerk reactions can be a little much sometimes.

A majority of people play soloq though.
I'm not trying to be funny, it's really just math. Even if you soloq, survivor is still the team side even if you don't swf. I'm just explaining why 20% player base for killer isn't bad. It's not personal. I don't care to get into who/what/when/where it's not ideal for the player bases to be anything other than 80 surv/ 20 killer % split, when a match is 4surv/1killer.
-
@radiantHero23 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3717826#Comment_3717826
Thats why you think that 80% are survivors?
no, I think 80% are survivors bc people like playing on teams more than a solo experience. I imagine they’d want to keep the killer player base around 20 % bc that’s how math works, 100% for a match divided by 5 players and only 1 spot for killer is 20%.
ie for every 4 survivors you’d need 1 killer which is 20% for ideal queuing times, otherwise one side is lobbying for a long time. -
they could implement it to where trying to Kobe/yeet/self unhook doesn’t progress the bar, and take away the skill check option leaving the timer at a set time. That’s just my suggestion though bc I grow tired of the complaints again and again about hook suiciding.
-
20% being killer mains is the ideal percentage I imagine for queuing purposes.

“Gate regress with EGC timer gives killer advantage.” Yep the only reason why they want that feature
sounds like they just want free pressure to me, and to put more burdens on survivors in endgame. Gate regression would be over kill. Some of these maps are so small, and gate spawns. Terrible idea as a built in mechanic.

Sure, it's just convenience, but it would make practicing easier, so I think it is disingenuous to complain about lack of skill without acknowledging the lack of a good tutorial/practicing options.
Also, when they released bots for custom, they said that Killer Bots would come later. That was November 2022. The Trapper Bot is already in the Tutorial, why not add him to custom atleast? I would be fine with an option where the Killer just stands in a corner aswell, but after more than a year there hasn't been any update, so I'm not super optimistic at the moment.
Yeah they probably tabled the idea bc they realized if they release a killer bot then a large majority of survivors probably wouldn’t join public matches anymore with the way things are going. They would be insane to do so.

If a killer perk is overtuned, it will be voiced by the survivors and will be 'watched'.
If a survivor perk is overtuned, it will be nerf'd into the ground and tossed into said bone yard. MFT, DH, anything that makes a killer earn that hard to get survivor is strictly a no no. (can't wait for the eruption on this take lol)
basically exactly yes. Bc nerfing a killer perk affects in 30 plus different ways it messes with their desired stats across the board, survivors are just skins so it’s easier to deal with, meaning you get the short end of the stick bc you’re the weak role of the asym. It’s supposed to be unbalanced, anything that calls that into question must be dealt with. So if I personally enjoy a build I don’t flash it to ppl bc it just expedites its nerf.
especially on here, bc believe it or not the devs lurk here.

Hahahaha that’s a good mental state to have. I keep the mind frame of if enough ppl use it(especially if they like it) goes double if there is any value to be had, it gets nerfed, bc it is the BHVR way. Not saying it’s not justified, I’m just really tired of seeing the perk bone yard when people attempt to go off the current meta.

Thats 'Counter evil tunneling with evil survivor brain' gold. Keep it up, @JeanGreyarea !
It is gold I played it out in my head, and came to the conclusion it’s genius. One flaw to your logic though, can be used against more hook spreading killers too, and if I know survivors….they about to get 2 perks nerfed if it catches fire.
-
That’s evil survivor brain.
-
I honestly don’t think there’s that much that can be done that wouldn’t be a wasted effort on their part. Like anything that I can think of minus putting a survivor in a safety bubble of can’t be targeted again until someone else is hooked just falls flat bc there will always be people looking to take the easier route as the killer role. Like I’m telling you now they could put the survivor off hook in a safe zone that fully heals them, and killers would still wait outside the exit zone to get them bc they’re either easy to down, or closer to death.
let’s assume they did take out tunneling though they’d have to analyze all killer roster performance over 3-6 months, I’d say closer to 6 to account for human adjustment in playstyles period, then balance almost every single killer around that. That would be a massive massive project. They’ll probably buff DS though.
the only thing I can think of would be actual time punishment for the killers and put them in a box if they tunnel like if they hook the same survivor twice in a row they get a massive debuff to something so the thought of even doing it would be insane bc they’d just lose, and I highly doubt the devs would do something like that.

I would agree as well. If we got to know who was swf it would work 2 ways. Sure killers would have more of an excuse to not look at the way they played and just blame it on swf.
On the same note, it may actually make killers say oh, it wasn't a swf. It's me. I need to get better. Killers think swf are the reason they lost. Sure sometimes it may be. But it could also be we did not play that well.
I would like the option to see. Imo.
That's wishful thinking if you think they'd change the argument from SWF op to "I should examine what I'm doing wrong". It's just going to turn into Survivor OP got beat by 4 solos proof survivors are op, as if their gameplay can be called into question, ever. I think you highly under-estimate human ego. It would be nice though if some self-reflection was involved.
-
I'm just here to pay my condolences to the perk in this situation.

It's not at all a nerf, what happened most of the time is you added the 15 charges then the killer went around kicking the gens and all except 1 or 2 would go back to zero. Having those charges locked in is a massive buff.
Agreed^ it’s a really good buff, that makes the whole broken for the rest of the match worth it(assuming that’s the case still).10 solid charges is much better than regressions plus 2 mins plus broken. I think it makes it worth running at least.
-
I just want to take a moment to say thank you to the devs for buffing sables perks. You didn’t have to do that, but I’m glad you did. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.
-
Just curious but how many times does a crash/dc have to occur before 48 hrs is reached?
-
my best advice is don’t heal under the hook, like ever, go somewhere covered close by but not right next to the hook, where if needed you can use a pallet.
-
@krazy_ivan said:
That's your cue to not run blindly into areas with high grass, around corners, going up any stairs, and well-known high-traffic areas. When you're playing trapper you have to be paranoid and look at the floor, run on bare ground and be extra careful when vaulting, always assume there will be a trap on the other side unless you have already verified there isn't or if it's unarmed. Once the team has identified the trap locations and disarmed them trapper becomes extremely weak and essentially an M1 only killer.
This is good advice^ if you didn’t know this. Heed your mothers’ warning Roman.
-
I personally would not like WGLF stacks to come back, I was getting farmed and multiple ppl would be at the hook more than usual just trying to get their stacks. Unsafe unhooks were running rampant with that perk.
Stacks for gens though, sure.

I think the hacker/cheater part definitely holds some water. Doctor having by far the lowest killrate could be because some people tend to use him to farm BP and shards without actually playing him. He's not the best killer, but there's no real reason he'd have the lowest stats by a big three percent unless something funny was going on.
Honestly, with how random DBD is, stats themselves should pretty much always be considered inconsistent.
For instance, how is a Trapper who 4ks a swf with 4bnp compared to a Blight 4king a bunch of Solo Qs? It's still a 4k, do the devs count them the same in the stats? How about MMR? There's simply too many variables to control in a match. 5 Offerings, Killer, Perks on both sides, maps, totem spawns, etc.
Doctor by a long mile the best easiest killer to do dailies for, you just shock,so I imagine that’s why.
