  • It works only on times when killer already made a long way to the hook and someone got sabo on it, so they don't have time to go for another.

I can tell - right now it's a VERY NICHE situations, most of the time killers are just surrounded by hooks.

  • Maybe hot take… But I enjoy soloq as much as I enjoy playing the killer…

If the game wasn't fun… I wouldn't be playing it and coming back to it.

  • Well developers making changes based on the data and stats… They could be nerfed.

But don't forget that they could nerf only some addons without touching the powers.

  • I'm still wondering what did they do to singu…

It was THE WORST KILLER based on kill rates somewhere like… 1 and a half year ago or 2 years maybe… It was less than 45%.

Did singu got buffed or something?

I'd say a pretty good job so far.

"Bhvr makes soloq miserable." - Didn't the developers improved the soloq experience by drastically nerfing tunneling AND camping with base-kit BT + speed boost and anti-camp mechanic, adding icons to let survivors see what everyone currently doing and other stuff?

bro didn't know that soloq was completely destroyed, on average dbd is played by soloq and it's so frustrating it makes people want to dc and go next. I really appreciate people who can win 5 out of 10 Soloq survivor matches.

I remember the times when soloq felt even worse to play, but players weren't leaving from matches as often as they are "now".

I think players are just getting more entitled of thinking they have all the rights to have unsportsmanlike behavior\conduct in PVP games.

    Not good.

A pinata (though it has that ~ above the n) is a container (nowadays often in the shape of an alpaca) filled with candy. It gets hung somewhere and then people smack it with a stick until it breaks and the candy falls out.

On the "by your team" read: "by the other players in the match" — which is, uhm - I mean, yea, people not playing in a way that's fun for others, too, makes these others dislike them? That's how it generally works. But what is that phrase again that many killer players (no idea if you did at some point - just speaking generally) just love to throw around: "I'm not responsible for your fun?"

Look, I'm not a fan of the abundance of DCing either - but I also don't think it's for petty stupid reasons nearly as often as people make it out to be. There's a reason people do this - and pretty often, when they do and my match gets screwed I go "well… sucks - but I can see why…" - I just wished there was more looking into the actual causes why people do it instead of "PuNisH tHem!" on the one hand and "you Qed, so suck it up" on the other. Players can't really do this, devs have to do that bit.

Either way, it's why I think I'll not go back to palying SoloQ altogether after Chaos Shuffle (been playing a lot of swf for that one); with a 4man shits-n-giggles-swf it's at least a collective decision and everyone can move on sooner rather than later and, on the whole, a lot less time is wasted.

Thank you, now I know what "pinata" is. :D We didn't have such things in my country.

Here have a pat on the back for being a pinata.

That being said: No. As a survivor you're not a team player first. It's entirely up to you. Your objective in the game is to escape one way or the other. - Your objective as a human being is to find some kind of enjoyment in playing. As survivor you sadly lack the agency to draw red lines. You can only do that after the match has started. Killers can at least lobby dodge (so I do expect you to never lobby dodge and to never change your build or in-match behaviour based on the survs you see in lobby if you Q up as killer). I don't want to get a mod giving out some warning for making inappropriate comparisons - but there are plenty situations irl where "when you signed up for it you knew there was a chance so you must take it and not walk away" is terrible advice. Usually to do with relationships; marriage, specifically. - Sure, this isn't a marriage or irl at all, but rule of thumb: if something is terrible advice for a mindset irl, it's also terrible advice for any other kind of mindset, including that in games.

If you find you get disconnected a lot more when you're playing certain killers or certain builds, maybe another question could also come to mind: if a killer or build seems to be so universally disliked, then maybe it'd be a sign of basic respect towards the playerbase to, you know, just not play them. Not everything that's in the game is a good idea; maybe not everything that mechanically is possible in the game should be done.

Side note: as per the dev's statement you are, in fact, not first and foremost a team player when playing in the survivor role.

My bottom line is: no player - irl or in a game - signs up to be a pinata. I occasionally play tennis and if, for whatever reason, I were to find myself on the other side of the net of a wimbledon player who decides to not hold back on their serves and I got one right in my face; I'd walk away from that court right then and there - and I seriously doubt that anyone would fault me for that. I didn't get to choose in advance - and I can't tell the other player to play at my level - but I don't have to take what they throw at me either.

I'll try to put my message in a few words: If you play as survivor and you're not being a team-player (not healing, not unhooking, not repairing gens, not taking hooks or hits, etc) — you will be considered BY YOUR TEAM as a troll.

    There's a reason of why it's called 4v1 - A team vs 1.

Well you are free to have your own opinion tho…

  • Ok guys so look: Chaos Shuffle match that I JUST played:

So in this match Jake was afk from the beginning - so I decided to let 1 survivor go, but this survivor gave up on a hook and said this at the end:

    1.png 2.png 3.png

Why do these players playing as a survivor - when they don't wanna play? They tired, hard day on work… So why jump in the team based game - if they don't wanna play?

Obviously she said: - "I had to do something important" - and I make it like I believed her, but I'm not. (I hope she doesn't see it)

Why did she even q-ed up for the match? Can anyone help me understand this "madness"?

  • I know that legit cheaters can make you disconnect, also there are some bugs were long ago when people were pressing rapidly F10 or something it caused the server to crash.

    Other than that… No.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

Sometimes, the most dangerous Killers are Survivors! I've lost probably more trials due to others giving up than because of the Killer's ability or my errors.

It's been mentioned before about low-priority lobbies - which I have also advocated for in the past - and note a reason given is the low number of players. Yet DBD has millions of players, and according to Active Player stats, it's averaging 2,000,000 per day:

    https://activeplayer.io/dead-by-daylight/

Before it's mentioned, these figures are not 100% accurate, but accurate enough to show the figures are around about that area. Should this be correct, would the argument that not enough people are playing to warrant a separate lobby is not applicable in this case?

    2m players? I don't believe it.

Look - right now DBD has 50k on steam - that's accurate number. Even if PS, Xbox, Epic games or other platforms have 70-100% more players than PC steam - it will not go up to 2m.

Just no shot. Very hard to believe, I think the numbers on the link are waaay off. It doesn't even feel in game - my q-times should be rocket-fast 24\7 if there are 2m players on average.

  • @th3 said:

Neat thing about this game is you can choose to play with your team and increase the overall chance of survival or strike out on your own and play for yourself

Every time I hear: - "Play for yourself" when it comes to survivor gameplay - I always see it as a crouched Claudette hiding in lockers waiting for a hatch. :D

I mean, even if you "playing for yourself" - you still need to participate in unhooking, repairing, taking hits for teammates, flashlight saves\pallet saves (if possible), etc. Team play - is the nature of survivor gameplay.

This is how developers want us to play as a survivor.

  • @Rudjohns said:

People take games way too seriously, gee

Its a game guys, nobody in real life is gonna die because your game was ruined by someone else

Exactly! This is why I'm telling that if you have a rough match - nobody in real life is gonna die if you will keep playing!

    Oh wait…

  • I hate bots in PVP games from the bottom of my heart…

But you see… They are working in DBD as a band-aid, since there is no solution to DCs other than DC penalty.

Well… We can (I believe so) try to encourage players to keep playing and don't give up. But there is some unhealthy and unsportsman mentality going on… Players are thinking that: - "I payed money for the game - so I can do what I want."

    It's so wrong to me… I don't know.

All I'm saying is that I paid money... I don't need people telling me what I should or shouldn't be doing. If I have an u hooking challenge...guess what I'm going to do, if I have a healing challenge guess what . Now just to make it clear so, I've never ever disconnected on purpose. I've been booted from a server or Internet gone out etc. I'm not condoning it either especially since mods like to ban for expressing opinions. I've paid for a game, I play with what the game allows me to do.

I didn't pay to be slugged and left on the ground for 5 minutes doing nothing yet here we are ..it's allowed.

    Deal with it

My friend, yes you paid money, but you also sighed the agreement of TOS.

Leaving from matches is just not appreciated in ANY game where YOU being a part of a team.

You see… This exact mentality of players who thinks they can leave whenever they want - is something I'm trying to encourage NOT doing. Besides I'm not ordering people how they should PLAY the game. I'm telling them KEEP PLAYING PLEASE! Don't leave your team because of your personal preferences!

Read my post message again - I'm not ordering people of how they should play!

  • @Doxie said:

I mean.. Is that why are you playing the game? Just to make other players experience miserable and unfun?

So you want an unfair game if someone DC's so its a 3v1 and unwinnable for the 3 with 5 gens up.

No, I don't want anyone to DC in the first place! I don't want to play with or against AI dummies! I hate unfair matches!

I want to play the game fair!

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

Players who continuously DC do get punished - they get banned for matchmaking for potentially a very long time depending on how frequently they do it. What else can the devs do about other than I guess make the punishment more severe for less frequent DC's?

Sorry if my message seems like I'm asking the developers about this issue. But I'm not.

I'm talking to Players. The developers already gave us what they could in this regard - DC penalty. Now it's on the players.

I'm not the part of this community (I don't believe so) - but I do believe, that this community is full of people with high standards regarding a good sports in games.

the whole point in having bots is so that when someone DCs the match Carries on. It personally doesn’t bother me as half the time the bots can play better than some people.

Bots are not fixing the issue - It's a PVP game.

Playing against AI dummies in PVP games is just shallow, empty and emotionless. When I'm playing a killer and I forced to play against AI - I'm just not having a good time, I'm getting bored. Because there is no satisfaction of outplaying AI dummy, chases with them are boring and empty (2).

  • @Huge_Bush said:

The best solution is to queue up serial DC’ers in their own queue so they only ruin each others games. They can make it to where they can get back in the regular queue after playing through 10 matches without DCing. Probably should include people who suicide before 2 gens are completed and don’t have Kobe perks equipped.

I know what you are talking about - in dota it's called: - "Low priority system".

But dbd just simply can not afford it due to player count, since Low priority is a different game mode with it's own q times.

Dbd just doesn't have enough players to have a permanent different game mode. Unfortunately.

This is why I'm just trying to bring some moral into some of players and encourage them to play the game for the sake of other players. Not ruin the experience of others in the match.

  • @JacobsLaz said:

Your post is very antagonizing and assumptuous. Everyone is allowed to DC regardless the circumstances. They paid for the game, they pay for the electricity, they pay for internet subscription, etc. They can do whatever they please. It also doesn't mean they DC because you play a certain killer they dislike, they could also DC because of server issues, power outage, or whatever that could lead to a DC.

Take a chill pill and relax.

No, you can clearly tell - when players DC manually and when they are having server issues or power outage.

Again - Nobody is allowed to feel free to DC when they didn't like something about the match. It's even stated in the TOS of this game as Mod mentioned:

Please also note the Forum Rules do not allow for the encouragement or endorsement of negative gameplay behaviors, such as DCing.

It was always been like this.

  • Even in dota 2 ranked or League of L ranked - there is a exit button. It doesn't mean you are allowed to just because you didn't liked something about the match, you even getting a warning each time you are trying to quit.

Your very first message in my topic is exactly: - "Mentality that need to stop". Please pay respect to your fellow teammates or play alone as a killer.

  • @Crowman said:

The devs said they have no plans to address it and the recent heavy handed nerfs directed at SM only act as a reward to this behavior/mentality. This seems to be the direction the game is intended to go.

I know it, this is why I'm not addressing my message to developers. I'm addressing it to players.

  • High MMR? Stun locking a killer?

Dude in high MMR survivors sitting on gens like their life depends on it. "Ha…"

  • Grab a survivor - put them in the bag - smash them against a tree.

  • Not about a specific killer, but a specific player preferences.

Players just don't like going against some killers, based on their preferences.

    Not a Dracula problem.

  • Why can't they do both at the same time?

They do fixing bugs and making new dlcs.

  • The stress of playing a killer is only be present when you starting your journey.

Once you got enough experience (and I mean, lost\win matches, played through many of flashlight saves or other "embarrassing" scenarios, etc.) you will never get stressed again.

It's like in real life - when you got into a new job, you'll be thinking: - "Oh, there is so many things I need to remember and consider in order to do my job right and not get fired… Or make someone sick (depends on the job)"

Once you've done this job plenty of times for about… Couple of months - everything will feel much easier and doable without any stress.

You will feel yourself at ease. And free from stress.

  • Doesn't feel like it's bugged.

  • Call me crazy, but I think that - another 2 big reasons of why there are less survivor players in 2v8 - No flashlightsaves and no palletsaves.

Personally - I think it just adds to less skill involved during the match for both killers and survivors in 2v8.

Imagine if this game had a random matchmaking system. It will never happen, but it would be an interesting experiment. 5 players go into a queue, and the game randomly decides who plays the killer and who plays the survivor.

I think if every player was forced to play the other side from time to time, there could be a bit more understanding for the other side.
It's usually the mains, the people who ONLY play survivor or ONLY killer, who shout "Us vs Them" the loudest.

Maybe there will be random matchmaking as a game mode at some point … maybe ….

No, it will be bad, coz it's "gating" a freedom of choice.

Choosing what character or what role to play - are the most important things on keeping your player happy. If you gonna "gate" that behind rng - most of the time players will be unhappy with what they've got.

  • The only thing I don't like about the mmr - is when I have in my team: 2 completely new players, and 1 6k hours "sweat lord" mixed with "average" skill killer. The matches like that are always a… Circus…

Mandy said it's happening when players dodging lobbies.

  • @Wiccamanplays said:

I feel like the point I was trying to make here, specifically about the use of map offerings in Chaos Shuffle, has been missed somewhat. It's a gimmick game mode about everything being random. Why then do some players insist on going against that theme and try to exert control over the game further? In Lights Out you couldn't bring map offerings (admittedly because there was a smaller pool), so I don't see why we have to have them in this mode at all.

So it only "angers" you if these offerings being used on chaos shuffle? Like… Violation of randomness?

Then I don't know what to say or recommend. :)

I'm never going to use Gideon meat plant offerings because unless you're playing killer bringing that offering is basically throwing

"OOOH - guys!, Let's play on Midwich, let's just gen-rush the killer, while it's gonna slowly walk up and down the stairs." -

5 seconds into the match - Nurse screeches.

  • @Wiccamanplays said:

Do you never get even slightly upset when a Survivor forces you to go to Garden of Joy or Badham, or a P100 Nurse with an aura-reading build takes you to Midwich? While there have been some small improvements to some of the worst offenders (the Coldwind maps in particular are much more manageable now), there are still some horrendously designed maps in DBD, and it's infuriating when you can't escape people who insist on playing them again and again even in a fun, gimmicky mode like Chaos Shuffle.

When I was playing dbd somewhere around 2019-20, I hated map offerings. The maps was MUCH more unbalanced back then with it's tiles and loops, broken windows, etc.

I remember I was creating a feedback threads about removal of map offerings. But I got humbled pretty fast. :D

Now that maps feels more fair, I don't really care about them (map offerings). Tho I was a huge hater of these offerings back then.

  • @Wiccamanplays said:

On my highest prestige Killer I have 10 Sacri Wards. On my highest prestige Survivor I have 3. Compare that to the potential number of map offerings you can encounter: I've had like 5 in my past 15 games, and never to what you'd call balanced maps. Even if I played one every match, I'd run out so quickly that it wouldn't make an impact.

    Well, what can I say?

You can't order around players how to play… It's obvious.

The developers also have no intentions to remove\rework the map offerings…

  • You need to get used to wind up timer and "throwing timer".

The tail attack feels like it's throwing a projectile, which is lingers for a brief moment.

You can also change a trajectory by moving your "camera" in all directions while it's winding up or already "throwing" the tail.

Where and how the projectile moving - watch the screens above ^.

  • @IWantCandys said:

There were 2 problems in 2v8. It only affected killer queues, survivor was instant all the time.

    1. Where previously there was only swf for the survivor side, suddenly everyone had the opportunity to play killer (KWF) with their friends. Of course, everyone wanted to play with their buddies and that naturally lengthens the killer queue.
Then there were only a few killer options. If someone wanted to play a popular killer (for example Huntress), they had to wait twice as long in the queue because too many others had also chosen Huntress.
There should be more killers available next time, but with restrictions. For example, only one M2 and M1 Killer can play together.
With two strong M2 Killers, if all Killers were available, it would simply be too frustrating for the survivor side, and nobody would want to play survivor. So long killer queues.

Speaking of Survivor, here comes the problem

    2. The Survivor gameplay was not exciting enough in comparison to the killer gameplay. Personally, I liked that there were no meta perks, and I really liked that we had the cage system instead of hooks, but something still needs to be done to make survivor gameplay more appealing in this mode. Even with huge BP incentives, there weren't enough survivor players available.

Maybe there needs to be additional, interesting tasks for survivors, better rewards (shards, rift fragments?) and more additional, interesting survivor classes.

I'm more of a casual player, so I really liked the mode. I mainly play survivor in the main game because I don't like playing alone against others, I'm more of a team player. That's why it would have been nice to be able to play killer in this mode, together with someone else, but I haven't played a single killer match either, I don't have that much time for 20-30 minute or even longer killer queues.

If BHVR could somehow shorten the queues, then this would definitely be the best game mode in the game.

    Same!

I couldn't play killer at all, I feel like I was waiting longer than 18m for a match. It's a clear issue since it's affecting BOTH regular game and 2v8.

Basically I couldn't play killer role in dbd at all. Which is not good, I play survivor here and there, but mostly I play killers.

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

What you describe has nothing to do with the player amount in General. Dbd had the highest player count of the last couple of months while 2vs8 was live.

Most killer players and many survivors just took the chance to play killer with a friend since at least imo it was super fun and only available for a short time. So there were a lot more killer players in queue than survivors which dragged out the queue times.

In the end you would have to get a lot more players to play survivor but that's probably not gonna happen. After all the fun part of 2 vs 8 is the killer Part. So long queue time during the event it is.

If it's only because lack of survivor players - then they need to come up with a very interesting new mechanic for survivors, bring up incentives (like +400% bp), address most of issues regarding survivor gameplay on it.

But here's an another issue with it - they probably gonna include more killer roaster in the next 2v8. So it's gonna attract more players towards killers…
