Even if it wouldn't be a bug you can be sure that it is not about race, much more some regional problems with a license
We can't tell why Junji Ito, or Japanese government don't want to sell the skins for listed countries, so players are only left to assume.
-
Developers aren't the ones who made a regional lock on these skins.
It's the license holder Junji Ito or Japanese government forcing Junji to do so.
And it's definitely not the racial discrimination, I would assume. (Since I don't know the reason of the locks in the first place)
-
@Anniehere said:
Maybe my opinion will sound ridiculous, but if there are regional issues due to the license agreement or other factors, what's the point of including this license in the game in the first place? This could lead to serious problems if they don't address it.
No, that's not ridiculous at all. I've been saying the same since the info about these cosmetics were released with region lock.
Why even making such cosmetics? Could it be the devs didn't knew, because the license holder haven't informed them till the release day?
This could lead to serious problems
Dude, the serious problems are already happened. And a lot of it.
-
By the mistake of the developers - these skins went through to the region locked country, that player bought the skins, they are in his inventory, but he can't use them.
Since it's a developers mistake - there are only 2 solutions:
- Let him use the skins he bought.
- If 1 is impossible - give him his auric cells back.
No other options, you took his money (even mistakenly) and (practically) gave nothing in return.
The government laws > developers personal laws.
-
There are cheaters, no doubt.
But… You know… If they don't hold you hostage - just shrug it off, report them and move on. Developers are the ones who should take care of them.
It should not be your concern, and you have no power to deal with them, but making the report.

Junji's artwork is not restricted in my country, why would it be restricted in the game?
Because Junji decided so. He's the license holder, not Behavior.

thats just plain dumb
because if someone goes into China servers using the perks or characters then nobody will have a clue how to face against them and if the just are killswitched then that's still a bad thing that its blocked
so please devs could you possibly explain to us why its this way?
It's probably works like this: They've got their own version of DBD, without Dracula chapter (or other).
So basically, China players playing a different game, and playing ONLY with themselves\with other Chinese players.
-
If anything, I personally think - if any content is going to be restricted from any countries, but available for others - they should not even make it in the first place.
This thing is called: "Supporting the discrimination", or "supporting privileges for some players". Dbd developers are known for treating all players equally, and should be against these things.
Restricted or "sanctioned" content is far more outrageous than blocking the game for the country in general.
-

I can't help wondering, what do you think would happen if BHVR did inform players about these region locks? Would players smile and be okay with it then (even the ones who live in the countries that are affected by these region locks)? I kind of doubt it. They'd still get as much anger and hate. And that's probably why they don't say anything...
They would've mitigated the outrage by A LOT. Especially for the people who pre-purchased auric cells.
People got disappointed mostly because they've got hyped up by the advertisements, without knowing that these items\skins will be unavailable for them.
If only the developers had warned the players of these countries before-hand, it wouldn't be as bad as it is now.
-
@DeBecker said:
Thats more of an issue of greedy players, though bhvr surely could be more transparent. Why do you purchase auric cells ahead if you dont even know if you could buy it? Thats insanity.
It's obviously not on the players to check if the new content is going to be blocked in their country. The devs should\must provide a clear info right in the moment the new content is being introduced. They literally had a dev's stream where they introduced the skins, why didn't they say anything about the region lock?
It looks like a "false\falsification of hype", why advertising the things to me, getting me hyped up for the things that are blocked in my country? If anything, it sounds like these people were scammed.
And why is that an "insanity" if a player pre-purchasing the in-game currency? Makes no sense to me, since nearly any player I know doing that.
The restrictions to countries should and MUST be informed to the players before-hand. If they did that - they would've mitigated the "damage"\outrage of the players.
Take a look at what people are typing in their recent reviews on steam. The game now reviewed mostly-negative on steam.
My prediction was correct though.

If it really was Ito who's responsible for the region lock, it would weird considering that the Junji Ito collab cosmetics in IDV aren't region locked.
We could go deeper and read Japanese laws to see which group of countries are restricted or sanctioned. But apparently: I don't have the access to the sanctioned countries by the Japan (Which is Ironic) "access denied".
If this collab in Identity V isn't restricted for the listed countries, that just confirms that this is a Junji Ito's specific desires to restrict them in DBD. I don't think these countries are sanctioned or blocked (but Russia), by the Japanese government.
In order to not make any guesses, we just need an official confirmation by the Junji Ito, or developers. But I doubt they would do any commentary on such things.
-
Even if it's true - my guess it's only for PTB, since q-times in PTB are well known to be pretty long.

Doing some quick googling I'm not sure any Castlevania games, not just DbD, are legally available in China.
You do realize that the Chinese government doesn't allow lots of video games to be released and slow walks others? Like Elden Ring, Roblox, Fortnie, are all banned in China.
When the game is being banned in the country is one thing.
But when playable characters are being blocked - is just weird. I remember seeing how China doing different censor to some characters or aspects of the game (such as skeletons or skulls, girls outfits), but blocking the whole DLSs with characters? Never.
At this point they (Chinese government) could've just block the whole game. Otherwise it sounds like people from China playing a different DBD, with less characters and skins.

So strange how licenses work, so people can “see” these cosmetics but not purchase them.
With skins or cosmetics it's not strange really, it works like a FOMO, where you can see a player running around with the skin that you've never seen before and you can't buy it (can't see it in the shop) due to it's not available anymore.

What If I add you to my group and make a custom game where I will pick Dracula? What's gonna happen? :D
I'm not gonna lie, this is the first time I hear something like "character region restrictions" within the game.
It's like you guys from China playing a completely different game from the rest of the players.

You mean the whole characters are locked in China from purchasing? Not just skins?
-
@Glaive said:
There’s region locked cosmetics ? How strange why ? What happens if the opposite side or teammates use them ?
Nothing, they are restricted from purchasing in some regions\countries. Who brought them - they can use them and everyone will see.
Strange thing is - which countries are being blocked. But this is just political speculations so… We're not going there.
-
I am sure that the developers had no bad intentions. It was a mistake or someone's undoing. If they will - they can return the money back to these players.
If anything - the restrictions should be informed first and foremost, and the content that is being restricted in many countries should not be even developed, to prevent all the negativities.
-
@廖翔北京烤鴨 said:
I purchased a lot of auric cells and now I can't buy. I live in China. There is no communication. This is unacceptable and I wish to have my money back!
Keep the auric cells then, they will come in handy in the future.
Developers wanted NO region restrictions, they wanted all skins to be available for all, but they couldn't do that obviously.
This should have been the moment when they communicate it to community(s), that the skins (or other content) are being restricted\region locked in China, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, etc.
By not informing the players before hand - they just practically enraged the playerbase of the restricted countries, who did pre-purchased aurics and were hyped about the skins in general.
Money will not be returned, I'm afraid. And not only money, by these kinds of mistakes, they can lose a big chunk of playerbase, with no return.
-
The devs have nothing to do with the region lock. It's Junji Ito responsible for the locks.
Developers only responsible for the lack of communication in regards of the region lock. They should've inform players about "banned" countries the moment they introduced the skins in the dev's stream.

How about no?
-
Let me assure you: Survivor players are not quitting only because of the tunneling as much as they:
- Don't like the killer you playing.
- Went down faster than they expected (or not expected to go down at all).
- Experiencing BS situations, such as High ping killer, "toxic" killer.
- Didn't want to play to even start with.
- Experiencing bad play of the fellow survivors.
I'm saying what I'm seeing in my matches as one of the killers who don't use tunneling (tactic) at all, at any times.
And it's a chain reaction - 1 Dced, then other Dced, once the survivor team got 1 or 2 DCs, they don't wanna continue to play, which is understandable, it's not their fault
When survivors leaving from match because they don't like the killer against or went down at 20 sec chase instead of 25 - nothing can be done, but punishing this player. Unfortunately - players like this are punishing other players in their team.
So what we've got at the end? The cycle of punishment.
The "win" conditions needs to change for the killers - kills should not matter, only the amount of hooks should be the condition.
Getting 8 hooks (0 deaths) - should be the winning condition for the killer player, going up with the ranking. If this will not help - give 2 endurance hits to survivors who just got unhooked for 30 sec and make them "fasable"\"faseable" (I forgot the word, pardon), so they can't body-block, and can't be body-blocked and can't use the endurance offensively.
To compensate for 0 tunneling - add some seconds to the gens to complete, so killers will have a fair chance\enough time to get at least 8 hooks (win=up rank).
-
Only M1 killers?
I think pre-dropping is effective against any killer, but Nursie.
-
"Dude, I'm busting my head off, trying to down a good survivor player, then I'm busting my head off trying to avoid flashlight\cracker\pallet stun while I pick up, and now you want me to bust my head of trying to reach for a hook? I will need to play this game with a towel on my shoulders, because of all the constant sweating."

They SHOULD add locker opening to actions btw. Like it was on old Wraith addons.
Speculation time!
What if they reverse this perk?
I mean, you've got 20-25% actions speed buff at 5 gens, and with each gen you will have minus 4-5%? (That would be awful tbf…)
Tbf - I don't want them to remove anything from the animation speed buff list… But if they add % to it… I can see that happening…
-
I'm very curious of what they're going to do with it. It says "tweaks" so I'm guessing it's just number of speed buff tweak.
They're not going to remove or add some actions from the list, right?
It's just a number tweak, right?

RNG does play a pretty big factor yes, but to completely disregard the skill of a player is just stupid.
Also saying you've lost count how many times you've lost because you didn't have X perk is true for literally EVERY perk. "If I had No Way Out, they wouldn't of opened that gate". Man if I had Blood Warden I'd be cookin. "If I had Bambam I would of shut down this loop so much earlier" and I could go on with literally every single perk. What gen perks provide and the reason they're so effective is because they partially eliminate some RNG with consistency, and its easy to lean on that. There's no shame in wanting easier games, it's what perks are for, but to call them and absolute necessity is false
1 good (meta) perk can cost a game as well as 1 good play or mistake. If a player wants to do more 4ks - they would run pop + pain rez + dead lock (or whatever) + meta info perk, instead of Brutal Strength + Iron grasp\Agy + Rapid Brutality (or whatever other chase perk), right?
It's called "Meta" for a reason. As well as using a higher tier killer.
You can't win at higher MMR with 0 perks, even if you've been playing (let's say) Wraith for 7k hours. But with the right perks - you can. Your skill doesn't matter as much, because without help (perks) you will not be able to do even 2k (what we're aiming for probably).
That just means that perks are indeed a necessity, if your goal is to have more 3-4k matches in general.
Just to mention: I'm not saying that your skill is nothing, I'm just trying to say that meta perks and RNG makes nearly the same amount of "success" in your matches, which is a problem to me, because I want the game to be more skill-based.
My goal as a killer is simple - I want at least 2k with a fun chases and using non-meta perks\killers. I can't get that based on the lvl (or hours) of survivors that I'm facing. I'm stuck at using pop + pain rez + no where to hide in order to not get T-bagged at the gates with 4m out with the length of the match of 4-5m.

Game is a lot more skill based than you think it is once you take away gen regression. In regular public matches you really don't need to 4 stack gen perks.
Nope. Highly disagree. :)
I think the game is more RNG, killer and perk-based more than anything.
I lost count on how many times I was losing gens due to absence of pain rez in my builds. How many times I lost a survivor in a chase because of lucky-break+Iron Will. How much time I lost searching for survivor, hiding near-by a gen (absence of Nowhere to Hide), chained tiles (rng), auto-pilot survivors with WoO (they don't even look behind) and I can go on, and on, and on. Like, no, there are a lot of things in this game that has nothing to do with the skill, but with perks and RNG.
The mere fact that we've got tiers with killers and perks is enough to prove your message wrong. You can play as badly as possible thought out the match - and by the end you can get 4k just because of Noed or some unexpected devour.
-
@Shroompy said:
Bambam does NOT need any changes, it's just fine the way it is.
In fact basically all these perks are just fine except for Fire Up, and maybe Dark Arrogance could be a little less punishing when stunned, but even then I'd say its just fine
I think OP meant that: "These perks should be as good as gen regression to be more desirable for killers".
On certain killers (even most of them) I would prefer gen regression over these, ngl.
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3865564#Comment_3865564
Really aint that deep but aight
Yeah, lowering your MMR helps. :D
But it should not be a thing. The game needs to be more skill-based, over "Meta-based".
-
There are so many fun builds, killers and fun perks to use in this game, but it all goes to the waste because of the gen speed.
The higher you go with your MMR - the more you realize that gen regression perks are the best.
I'm tired using them on my killer matches.
It's 3 choices:
- Use 3-4 gen regression perks.
- Use Nurse\Blight.
- Hardcore tunnel 1 out.
-
Then it will be called: Healthyphobia.
-
The game is meant to be PVP.
So when people being "forced" to play against AI dummies - they should be able to end the match in a press of a button, if they don't want to play against bots.
-
YUP! What an amazing timing - just went up against Nancy who were constantly accelerating her speed each time she's out of my LOS, caught her lightning speed while using aura reading.
-
I played the event for like 3 or 4 times, and in all of these matches - me and other people were having 100+ ping, when I usually have 70-80.
I don't play the event at all now, I don't know if the ping issue got fixed. Probably not.

This is a bad attitude, so you just allow cheaters to ruin the game for others?
OP reporting does work, I just got a notification today that they took action on a report I did. I don't bother raising a ticket etc, I just report in game and they have taken action.
The best one was a cheating Nurse who instantly teleported us all to hook as soon as the match started. I reported them and I got a notification the next day that they took action, which I assume was banning as the cheating was so blatant. I don't send in videos or link to profiles, just click report next to their name.
When player reporting someone for blatant cheats or any other violation of the rules, they want to see that their reports works.
As someone who have been reporting blatant cheaters, bug-abusers, end-game chat harassment for more than 2k h - I haven't received a notification in game even ONCE. Yes, you've read it right - not even ONCE. Not only that - I made a ticket on a blatant cheater who have a YT channel, been constantly posting and advertising cheats for DBD. I waited for answer from the support team for 13 days, and they've only answered when I made a post on the forum about asking if support team even works.
The guy wasn't banned. My time was greatly wasted on all the reports I've been making.
This was a good lesson to me - now, I don't care with reports, tickets, etc, and I don't waste my time and nerves on making them.
I'm still facing cheaters here and there, the "game" doesn't seem like values my time and my investments, so - I don't care if cheaters "ruining" the game for others.
Just to mention - this is my personal experience with the report system and support team of this game. I don't know how they're responding to others.

It’s an ormond variant. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it if you play an ormond offering
Yeah, I played on it once yesterday - I'm not gonna lie - everything about this map is fine, but some tiles and loops on there are just… SO killer sided.
2 little rocks and a pallet in between, in a small hole - ain't no way you're not gonna get hit as a survivor there.
-
Event? You mean the gamemode where I have 100+ ping and rubberbanding all over the place?

I'm glad it's not forced - so we can play normal mode.

And this is the event:
Well, I'm guessing someone needs to make a bug-report, I'm not gonna do it, since it will be declined. Or leave it as it is, whatever.

I'll try to play a normal mode, just to check if it's only for the event.

Wait, what? There's a new map? Oo
Dude, I didn't get it even once for 2 days of playing.

@HolyDarky said:
No, the issue are the servers. I usually have a really good ping and never had any problems with my ping but today I had really awful ping in the event between 70 - 180. Only my first match was good, the next two were also okay (some warning) but then the disaster happened. In the first match there was so much replacing, lags, rubberbanding, and fake hits that it just felt awful. The survivors had the same issue so it wasn't just me - I also checked some profil and they were from EU like me. In the next match I had a high ping of 70 but three survivors of 130 - only the fourth one had a normal ping (couldnot check the profil due to different platforms). The third match was the same and so awful that I had to dc because this drove me crazy to have the same issue three times in a row. I stopped playing after this because it makes no fun and I get headache from it. There is also not the crazy possibility that one map creates high ping (everything in dbd is possible) because I played in three different realms.
70 is no where near "high" ping. Human eye can't differ 70 ping or 40-50.
It starts to be noticed at 110+, the moment where you will start noticing a delay.

Beast of Prey: - "Don't worry about me guys, I can hang on as much as you need!"

End game chat conversation:
Me: - Hey, guys! Wanna read some useful tips against my killer?
Me: - Oh wait… I'm speaking to myself…
-
Who's said: - "Running anti-tunnel is crutch"?
It's not. And never was.
-
Yes, I've seen the vids on reddit. Cheating AI Nurse instantly killing everybody and they're having a dc penalty afterwards.
I'm not going to lie, this seems to me like an emergency level of issue that needs to be addressed like… Right now.
It can really hurt the survivor players if this will happen multiple times per day. Their DC penalty will be massive.
-
Oh it's got fixed already…
I wanted to say: "Wait what? I just played the game through Epic just a moment ago."
