  • I like the lore a lot, End Transmission seems like it'd be one of the best candidates if BHVR ever creates a movie based on original chapters.

Gabriel, I actually like his design with the futuristic clothing. His perks are not super useless and actually have clear use. One of them is even great cough cough

I'm still tinkering with Hux, but it seems really hard to play effectively. Constantly losing biopods feels bad, and the longer a game goes on, the EMPs are more constant. I got the adept tonight so I'm free to actually experiment with builds. I'm enjoying Forced Hesitation, and am eager to experiment with other killers. But Machine Learning is pretty disappointing. The last perk is fine I guess, but exhaustion is less important ever since Dead Hard was gutted. It's hard to see when you get value.

I've literally only played on Toba Landing twice so I can't say *too* much but it seems okay. Worse for ranged killers due to line of sight blockers everywhere, but overall manageable because it's not too big.

Overall, I think it's a successful chapter, much better than the previous two. Lots of uproar about MFT and I understand, but I think they'll wait a bit if they decide to nerf it. My theory is it'll be conveniently after Gabe & Hux get their additional lore from the next Rift.

Random survivor perks gave me this...and the killer had all totems. I actually got great value from Overzealous. Leader + Resurgence was kind of a neato combo as well. Absolutely zero value from Self Preservation though.

Random killer perks gave me this, and I was playing as The Plague. I love Agitation on a lot of killers so that was nice. But didn't get much use from anything else. Maybe I could've tried sneaking up with Corrupt Purge and Tinkerer, but it wasn't reliable. They really gave me Insidious of all perks :(

  • I'm old enough to remember you, but when I started on the forums I think they had already stopped giving users the red "trusted" profile pictures. So even back then you were an OG.

Glad to see you're still repping the Freddy pfp, even while he's in a sorry state.

  • I saw the news, but I was much more occupied by Sega being one of the companies that Microsoft was looking at. Didn't even know BHVR was there tbh

The instant pallet breaking, the exposure with bloodlust, the window blocking........its all nonsense and unfair.

You have to have bloodlust to activate the exposed invitation effect? That explains why I'd never been able to do it or seen it used.

  • I don't think Unbreakable deserves S tier. It's like 1 in 20 matches where you actually get massive value from it. Sure it can win games, but it doesn't do it nearly as often as people say. Not in 2023.

Plunderer's Instincts in F tier seems a little harsh. Yeah the hatch got nerfed, and so did medkits, and toolboxes. But it's still a great way to get good items. Maybe C tier for it.

Kindred, Iron Will, and Detective's Hunch I think deserve to move up one. They're great perks just not as memorable as the current strongest. Some more love for Open Handed would be nice, because you did put Windows of Opportunity and Bond high up, which are justifiably there. I'd switch Balanced Landing and Dead Hard honestly. DH is still good, and has more applications than Balanced Landing.

Overall it's a somewhat accurate list, most survivor perks are niche but really good when that specific scenario happens, or if an entire build is dedicated to it. I disagree with a lot of the aura & healing perk's placements.

  • Seeing as maps are one of the last items that don't have a rummage/chest perk, I think we might get one on Nicolas Cage and it can be a subtle reference National Treasure.

  • I basically always use browns & yellows because I'm so cheap even in video games lmao. Or sometimes it feels like I'm going to hard on survivors if I use very powerful things.

Ghostface's brown addons are his best. Specifically the night shroud recharge and the camera.

For The Dredge, the calender & the skull are both yellow addons, and among its best.

Demo with rat liver. Barb's glasses are also quite good.

Chili is very good for bubba, and one of them is yellow.

Hag, Doctor, and Wraith almost all of their addons are simple numbers increases, but just the brown/yellow versions can be helpful specifically on Doctor where it unlocks a whole new side effect to Madness.

Nemesis now has the broken syringe which is better than the yellow equivalent because they forgot it existed when they buffed the brown. That's pretty funny but he still needs some work. Marvin's Blood is his best and is yellow, so he still counts.

  • I've played against it exactly once, and it was tonight so I guess the buffed version is all I've ever known. Can't really make a comment but I will say that its stride is very offputting, which is good for a less human killer.

There didn't seem to be an overabundance of EMPs but they were still obtainable in a timely manner, so from what I heard that's an improvement for balance.

  • No idea why that Nea outfit is still not in the store, because it was a main outfit in the thing. Maybe they literally forgot about it because it's less flashy than other stuff Nea has.

As for the single piece items, those have no history of ever coming back. But never was it confirmed that they're exclusive, since they aren't charms.

  • It's a lot like being mindful of generator placements, to complete them strategically and ensure you don't 3-gen. Very rarely do I even encounter this problem, because even in a corner of a map or exit gate, there's almost always two hooks you can reach. If you encounter this often, you're probably winning your matches anyway. If it's a sabotage SWF, then you can play smart and counter their efforts. Or just slug them if they want to act the fool.

Though, I do wish that a Scourge Hook would transfer to another hook, to ensure that you always have 4 on the map. Because sometimes the only good one gets used several times and you can't get to the others, especially on a map like RPD.

  • I love autodidact I use it in many of my games. Farming all your tokens with Sloppy Butcher to power up early is really satisfying.

  • I wish I could play it more to judge, I haven't gotten it a single time while I play killer!

So far, my impressions are that it's worse for projectile killers because of a lot of line-of-sight breakers, but it's not too big to be impossible for poor mobility ones.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

Suspecting the wording is wrong, in that you don’t need to be the Singularity to get it.

Yes, that would make it in line with all the other killer achievements throughout DBD history.

I remember when the Silent Hill chapter released, they ideally wanted you to use the new perk Deathbound to down Oblivious survivors. Playing Freddy was an infinitely easier alternative.

  • Sorry to bump my discussion (which had zero comments lol), but I've just learned that you can in fact achieve this one as any killer, as long as the survivor is afflicted by hindred. So it must be a typo. Or a bug, I'm not sure.

Clown is definitely the easiest method to achieve.

  • I haven't stopped using Slinger's gun ever since I got it in the original year 4

  • Make the searchbar not have a weird popup, and just be in real time. Hopefully that's possible because it would be a good QoL

  • For starters, I don't think it needs a numbers nerf. Mindgaming will still work even with 3% faster speed. People are mainly using it for when they want to hold forward and run for that little amount of extra stalling.

Make it not able to stack, and that should be fine. That way, it can't be combined with Hope.

  • I really like his techy design, but it's not too overblown. Plus, he has nice arms <3

  • It's pretty useless imo. If a killer wants you out, you're out. The stun is too short for the context, and since you can lose it by doing any conspicuous action, and only use it once, it just isn't that good. Sure does shock me to see a teammate have it in the current state though.

I haven't used it ever since they made an obsession in every match, way back in 2021.

  • Having to escape after performing the thing with the perk is what's really unfair. Particularly for the Mettle of Man one. I hate when they do that to challenges.

Making Solidarity 100% conversion rate would make it so much better and yes I agree, it wouldn't be OP because it requires specific conditions to be met. 50% was too safe making it barely helpful in any match so no wonder no one runs it.

Not to mention that the changed Mangled status effect really kills Solidarity. And Resurgence, which can be a fun combo to use with Solidarity.

  • I've wanted Solidarity to be 100% for so long it's unreal. I would start using it with Autodidact immediately. I don't think it'd be OP because it requires 2 (injured) survivors and no use of medkits allowed.

Head On should highlight a locker in yellow for your teammates, or maybe make blindness not a thing inside the locker. That would be enough I think.

  • I wish we had something that gave us back the distinct colors of the original realms.

Blue macmillian, green autohaven, nighttime coldwind.

  • I think glyphs are a fine balance between difficulty and repetitiveness. No issues there for me.

If the challenge was to stun the killer or escape a trial, I'd be much more unhappy.

  • Wraith and Hag have a lot that are simply number increases as the rarity goes up, which is more than welcome imo. It's probably one of them. I would have said old Hillbilly if it weren't for every single one of his addons getting changed.

I recently watched that otzdarva vid on the addons tierlist, and he made a pretty good case for Plague having lots of useful addons. Even a lot of the less good ones are still pretty usable. I'm biased on this last pick, but I think all of Ghostface's addons have a clear use after he got an addon pass, and I like the fact that his browns are all pretty good too.

  • Red items: 2 ultra-rare addons, ebony mori. Anything else that was ultra-rare got removed ages ago.

Green items: 5 addons per killer, 4 regular bloodpoint offerings, party streamers, rotten oak, 18 map offerings, ivory mori, sacrificial ward.

    Hope that clears things up.

  • I also saw that theory online, and it might be accurate. If anyone is, Yui is the most likely candidate. Maybe they are planning to do some additional fanfare for it, but it's backfiring since people expected it now.

Is the lesbian flag & MLM flag really the only one that have yet to be added? I'm not sure because the only codes I used were the cool eye charm, and the bi flag. It honestly feels weird wearing it after so much time spent using the standard rainbow charm.

  • I haven't specifically gone for it, but I'm on edge and prioritize gens a bit more whenever I get the map randomly as survivor. So far, only 6/20 on this godforsaken achievement.

Jeff Johansen would be great with an outfit for The Dude.

I don't understand why boil over isn't 3 different perks; one to hide hooks, one to get a wiggle boost when dropping, and one to make the killer veer sharply in random directions. Maybe combine those effects with one other similar effect on each perk, but having all 3 on one perk is WAY too strong. Most of the time if I pick up a survivor with Boil Over, unless I'm right by a hook, I immediately drop them. And if I find multiple survivors with Boil Over, then I go for slugfest.

Not defending Boil Over in and of itself, but that's how you get mid-terrible perks like Dance With Me & Poised that nobody uses.

DanceW/Me isn't that bad, but Deception literally has the same 3 seconds of hiding scratch marks and pools of blood. I see no reason to use it as the whole effect is basically a secondary bonus to other perks. Lithe, Quick & Quiet, or the new perk Cut Loose serve a similar purpose but do it better.

Spinning in a circle smoothly on the ground :( the locomotion changes were objectively better, but I sure do miss spinning to win.

I was going to say Hawkins National Lab, but you just reminded me of the ground spinning and now I miss it :(

  • Play the game less. No, seriously. Now some of the extra rewards they have during the Anniversary Event are gonna feel pointless as you're already at Level 85. That, and the next two pages of the Tome which have a lot of Rift Fragments. Getting to max level this quickly is actually less efficient.

  • Good change. It's not OP but still very useful for a team-oriented playstyle what with the auras. As long as it stays up for more than one heal, you can still get lots of value and regroup much faster.

  • Pinhead is really hot right now, with Gift of Pain being a sloppy butcher alternative, Plaything being popular to pair with Pentimento, and Deadlock making a huge break into the meta (it's basically on course to be nerfed sadly, since it gets used so often now)

Sadako's perks all have seen semi-consistent use for the past several months. Be it people abusing Merciless Storm, or using Call of Brine, or Floods of Rage which is just quite good but underused.

Nemesis is also a good choice, because Lethal Pursuer is an excellent perk and Eruption got nerfed but was super popular a month before, and still useable at least.

Pyramid Head is a nope, and Ghostface only has I'm All Ears worth using.

  • The way it works for Steam cards is that buying the game gives you the drops, then you get them by playing. It's approx. 1/hour and the number of drops is half of however many are in the set.

After that you'll have to buy/trade for the remaining, or get super lucky with a booster pack.

  • The tinfoil hat theory is that BHVR looks at the pick % rates so much, that's why they haven't nerfed Blight addons. There's actual good things besides just Alchemist's Ring, so the % is spread evenly.

Compare to Ghostface getting recharge addons reworked, Marvin's Blood, that one Twins sword addon, and Doom & Death Engravings. On killers weaker than Blight, they had worse addons so the % on the few good things they did have were so high. Thus, they got nerfed in order to encourage more addon diversity.

  • My favorite maps are ones that are winnable as Killer but also decent on survivors.

Father Campbell's Chapel, Coal Tower, and Ormond come to mind. I know a lot people hate Red Forest but Temple of Purgation is formerly my favorite map on both sides. It's probably Chapel or Ormond now, ever since the rework.

  • Nemesis is pretty good for farming points.

The tentacle strike gets you brutality and devious points, you get a nice sum whenever you level up the mutation, and you get points when survivors use the vaccine plus that means you can infect them again.

And if you're really at a loss, you can continuously kill your zombies while they meander around.

  • There have been a few mentions of his outfits, but it could be more impactful than people realize.

    1. His last outfit was The Nutcracker from several months ago. It was... pretty meh ngl
    2. Before that, his story Rift outfit which I didn't like but at least the items can be combined with things from outside to be good
    3. Saint Patrick's Day, a green recolor in the Rift of something else he had
    4. Getting the timeline wrong here, but his Blighted outfit was a meme too with people making Dr. Robotnik outfits with that bald head. His Valentine's Day outfit was great but it was over a year ago.

Since it's been over a year since David got something really high quality, combined with the pushes to make Vittorio, Felix, & Renato the new hotties, he lost some fans for sure.

...and the aforementioned insecure gamers and/or Dead Hard being nerfed.

  • I forgive The Artist, I used to be against her but after seeing The Knight and the Skull Merchant I think she's much more tolerable than before.

I think Dredge would be the answer to your question though, because he doesn't get much hate and his outfits are some of the most inspired and cool ones we've seen on a killer. His anti-loop has a counter by running into the husk before it can react, and the teleport is about as fair as other high mobility mechanics. Nightfall is slightly annoying but possible to get used to.

  • image.png

So, I have a several problems with this challenge, so I'm making a separate comment.

    1. It's just a mish-mash of like 3 other challenges they usually run
    2. Usually the perks are all you need, and you can do any killer you want. Here you're forced to play the Skull Merchant
    3. Usually on these "pseudo-adept" challenges as I've come to call them, you're allowed to use a 4th perk and you just need 3 of them to be the teachables. Not here.
    4. The Shrine of Secrets hasn't had all the perks yet, and we won't get Thwack in there until next week (not that it matters since you gotta play SM)
    5. The name of the challenge is a bit silly, and reminds me of the Morbius memes
  • If they give Trapper a new mori where he puts a trap onto a survivor's head, instant placement into a higher tier.

like, be 10 or so meters from a hook or it wont proc

That could definitely screw killers who are just in the midst of hooking somebody when a generator pops. If I had to nerf Deadlock, I would probably reduce the time by 5-8 seconds or give it tokens for every hook, with only one to start. That way, camping only gives you one use of Deadlock and if they reach 2nd stage you don't get any others until you chase more survivors.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Eh.

I don't find it to be OP. It enables camping a bit too much and it's kinda boring, but I think it's fine.

I'd be more interested to see if PR gets adjusted further.

I don't think it's terribly OP either, but I think it gets used so much that they're gonna try and encourage less use by nerfing it.

Much like Corrupt Intervention is (was).

  • Some of them look really goofy this time around. I don't own any character from Tools of Torment, and I've already done every other challenge, so I'm just waiting around for 9 days.

I guess I can go back and clear a couple older tomes, because they contain some equally tough and ridiculous challenges I skipped. Anyone got a full list of the old challenges they rebalanced in this patch?

  • They made her blinks & chain blinks no longer be basic attacks in a recent-ish patch. It affects a slew of things, so now you're better off using information perks instead of Sloppy Butcher or things that apply the Exposed status effect.

  • I prefer they leave it open to interpretation, and people can headcanon whatever they like. That includes David.

Me personally, I just assume most characters are bi until stated otherwise because that fits my agenda.

  • Instead of a direct Franklin's counter, what about something else that inadvertantly does it? I had an idea for a simple perk that allows you carry two items. Kind of like MUL-T carrying 2 equipments in Risk of Rain 2. Just have franklins only affect the first item and the second one stored is fine.
