  • I prefer Ormond offerings for the Sore Ankles challenge because it's the most balanced for both sides, the main building is one of the most accessible too. So even if you're accepting the fact that you'll get sacrificed, it's feasible to get at least 3 per game, maybe more.

  • I remember this one being pretty inconsistent even when it released. Wouldn't be surprised if some old challenges become undoable years after, because it's happened several times.

  • It makes some sense on RPD, where it originally debuted. I always imagined it as some kind of yellow police tape.

It's pretty weird on any other realm though. I will say I've occasionally mistaken the broken windows in Garden of Joy as a vault, but it rarely happens and it's not worth the weird tape.

  • The window vaults being on fences were iconic. That, and they changed the side of the street that the main house was on. Still feels uncanny to me.

Another thing is that there's only like 4 pallets that aren't on the main road or a house. Does anyone remember the square-shaped bushes tile on old Haddonfield?

  • I don't think so. If the survivor is ensured to die, then they won't be stuck forever like some types of bodyblocking. It's more a map issue than anything else.

Like the hook on the gallows in dead dawg, and the upstairs library on RPD, I think it would be up to the devs if they want to adjust the map.

  • Well Death note would be a very interesting concept, but it would probably play really badly if the killer had to walk around "finding the survivor names" like old Freddy before he could do harm to them. Better off being a collection of outfits.

What killer would Ryuk from Death Note look best as? Probably the Wraith. I'd be down for that being a skin.

    image.png

    Who else could be added?

    L: Jake

    Light: The Trickster(?)

    Misa: Feng Min

It writes itself, really. Those are the biggest characters but they could probably have Renato be Mello, and Plague be another Shinigami if they wanted an even number of outfits.

Not sure that I'd like that combo with MFT.

There was a good suggestion from @Blueberry to make it cause the Exhaustion itself, so that it truly couldn't be paired with the perks. I think that would be worth the silence.

  • As much as I'd love to say it's still a good perk, it's really an all-or-nothing situation. A killer player with headphones will be able to hear you with or without Iron Will, so the perk is not worth using in the current year.

I think they should definitely do that buff, since Iron Will was never the biggest problem anyway when Old old Dead Hard was a thing. It would become a strong but not overbearing perk. And couldn't be used too well with exhaustion perks. As we all know, there's another perk that gives a strong effect but doesn't work when exhausted; Made for This. Given the choice between IW being 100% and MFT, I think people would rather have quiet survivors.

And I can already envision the situations people would make up in their head about Lucky Break + Iron Will...

  • My first time seeing a survivor bot was today when somebody DC'd against a skull merchant on RPD.

They can fail skillchecks from Oppression/Overcharge, which was surprising to learn. And the bot also caused us to 3gen because they only ever repaired gens that weren't being watched.

  • I'd love to talk even more about how the Tome challenges are way easier on killers. It's definitely no small part in how it feels to progress. Taking 4 matches for a survivor challenge that gives you 15K bloodpoints feels bad.

Many times, I've literally run out of killer challenges, because they only take 1-2 matches to do most of the time. All I have left is some of the old Blight and Huntress master challenges , but no generic challenges left. Even lengthy stuff like hooking/killing the obsession can reliably get progress, with or without dedicating a build to Obsession switching. Some stuff is literally as easy as "start a chase with 4 different survivors" you just have to look at them to complete it.

Meanwhile on survivor, there are times where you never see the killer. Or the opposite, you never have time to touch a single gen since you got found and chased first. Those are fine enough, since the actual goals aren't hard but only repetitive. The dreaded ones like pallet stunning, escaping, or blood pact are what I hate doing as survivor.

Something simple, like in the new event tome: Safely unhook 2 survivors while playing as Jake. That took me 3 matches because of how unpredictable the game can be.

  • It's a nice looking gen but I haven't played any differently so far. Seems good enough for a Summer thing. I just wish the points went to every survivor and not only who was repairing it.

  • The only time I have seen a bot so far was against a Skull Merchant on RPD (frankly, makes sense why somebody would DC)

But I think the specific interaction with drones may break bots, because they avoided the circles like the plague, and accidentally caused a 3-gen to happen by repairing everything on one side.

    1. Let him keep his power full with another button to activate T3, like the Oni does. It could still be instant activation, if people like 99%ing the power that much.
    2. Slightly increase the time of base T3.
    3. Except for Hair Bow, the other Evil Within time increasing addons shouldn't need extra stalk to reach T3.
    4. Increase breaking speed while in T3, and maybe a free, but weaker version of Jolt while in T1 or T3 (those could be addons reworks though, since 2/3 of the mirror pieces are bad. The effects of the green one can be given to the yellow one, and then rework the green & the T1 Yellow.)
    5. Nerf Tombstone Piece and Fragrant Tuft of Hair.
  • The L4D outfits are from an old time, back before they did legendaries. They should definitely consider making the other 7 survivors legendaries for Bill (or a new chapter which I would love) or at least give Nick's outfit to Ace, and Louis to Adam. Those are no-brainers.

Sadly, I don't see BHVR doing it because Valve requires their crossover content to be free, and there would be no price incentive for DBD to add more.

Except for the sole reason of exposing the game to more people, which I can anecdotally say has worked a ton. Especially with the Resident Evil license and it's like half of every survivor I see in any given lobby is from RE.

  • The Deathslinger as a Smoker from Left 4 Dead 1/2

    image.png

The grabbing is incredibly similar to the speargun, although he uses his tongue instead of a chain. I'm sure they could figure out a way to make it work. And strike fear into all of the Bill players. I always say that L4D deserves more content especially for survivor skins, but Special Infected being killers could work.

Trickster's mask and Legion's knife were part of the worst prime rewards, only losing to BP

I personally disagree. At least with those, they look pretty cool and you don't feel like you're missing out on an entire outfit. The artifact rarity is also something that's rarely seen in DBD.

I'd say the outfits should at least be in the store with the others from the collection. Even if they're new, the prime could give you it free while it's new, so still being a good deal.

Personally the worst was reusing the Maiden Guard outfit from the rift, followed by the bloodpoints, then the charms. I'm fine with Rift Fragments actually because 10 levels is a lot and gives me more free time.

  • This really puts into perspective about how I feel about the Prime rewards.

It was really tragic that The Artist (and Haddie for while) had their green-rarity outfits shoved on there when the previous standard was to release those to the store the same day the character came out.

Another thing, the fact that they seemingly pick one outfit from an existing collection to make exclusive with seemingly no rhyme or reason. The Dwight one could have released with the David & Kate Valentine's outfits, Jeff's could have been in the store with Nea, Doctor, and Slinger's metamorphosis outfits. And most recently, Jane's prime outfit was obviously part of the Brazil collection. They just pick one and make it exclusive which is a bit of a slap in the face.

I feel like the one-piece items like Trickster's mask or the glowing Legion knife were more fitting for Prime rewards, at least they felt original, and not like existing outfits repurposed. The free battlepass is still the best reward they've ever done though.

  • I only started in 2019 so I haven't seen it all like machine guns or infinite sabotage.

But I think the worst time for killer might have been when I started playing, I just didn't realize it. Unnerfed Balanced Landing, lots of maps being huge especially Blood Lodge and Ironworks of Misery window being there. Toolboxes lasted for basically an entire generator, and Trapper could have his traps sabotaged plus only hold 1. Trapper was my main back then because I didn't have every DLC until later. Killer may have had old Pop & Old old Hex: Ruin, but you were basically forced to use Ruin on every killer.

The worst time for survivor imo was the time where Tinkerer + Ruin + Undying was the supreme killer meta. Especially that time where Undying still switched as many times as there were totems. It was still oppressive for solos even when Undying was changed to always go first. Freddy was rampant, and him + Wraith could ignore BT. Blight was and still is supreme. BT was a perk you really needed to run, and there were matches without a single Obsession if no DS. Thanks to those last two, tunneling was very rampant if the perks weren't in play.

Grades will incidentally reset at the same time the event is over

That is extremely disappointing. What even happens if you're in the game menus when it ends/reset happens?

    Thanks for the answer.

  • last day of the event. I'm sure a lot of people pop in just to play then, or are about to start taking a break after lots of playing

  • Too many of them have zero strategy and are simply survivor sided until the killer breaks the wall. Specifically on Dead Dawg.

  • They do look really good, and it's especially great because they will be in the free side of the Rift. Giving new players some good outfits without needing to buy them.

My only complaint is that they're a little bit repetitive. Clown winning once before, and also the fact that he already has an Italian-sounding traditional clown look. They'll actually look really great when mixed & matched with each other I bet.

Yun Jin just got a waterfront massacre outfit released that looks a little similar, but more striking to me is that I'm still not over how absolutely ridiculous that Mikaela workout outfit looks. Yun Jin's is giving similar vibes to that outfit, though not nearly as much. I'll try it with the pants from her Neon outfit and see how they look together.

No hate to the artists because they look good still, I'm just little confused on BHVR's choices.

  • Well there's always been a bit of discrepancy on hits, especially on windows. But the thing is, I'm also getting pallet hits pretty often, and that's usually much less forgiving than windows.

The last time hit detection was this noticeable was like, 2021, I want to say. I'm assuming something got borked during the most recent chapter.

  • image.png

For me it's this meme that the perk icon reminds me of

  • There is not an official one. The wiki is pretty good about tracking everything and what currencies they can be bought with.

But on the store page where it shows the number next to character portraits, I'm pretty sure exclusive items don't count to the default number, and the number is only things sold in the store.

For example if you get a new thing from the Rift that's not in the store, the number will increase by 1 for both the numerator & denominator so it's effectively meaningless for true completion, only listing the amount of things you own.

  • It would be beneficial for everybody, but I feel like the efforts could be better spent instead of making more recolors. Better to just put them in than make new outfits imo. There's quite a few charms that deserve to come back as well. At the very least they should standardize it because some things have come back sooner than others. And Nea's Rift outfit with the lore attached still hasn't come to the store. Idk, the Rift feels different though. It might be the small part of me that wants to be special and show-off for having played so long. But yes, I think overall the single-piece items should come back in some way.

Between login rewards, codes, and event cosmetics, BHVR is very indecisive on their stance for exclusives. But they clearly still want them in the game because they introduced the Deep Rift last year.

  • Not exactly a new concept, it's a thing for most platforms online. Steam is a big one, you technically don't own your games and they could be taken away at a moment's notice. You'd probably have to screw up pretty badly for the licenses to be revoked, and it will probably never happen (except for maybe a game's beta ending). But for what it's worth, it is technically possible.

  • I enjoyed it.

I think the lore is pretty good, I like the looks of Gabriel and am mostly okay with Hux's look & voicelines. Playing him is like a 6.5/10 for me, can be super fun and rewarding but takes a lot of upkeep. Sadly I think in the future, Hux will be feared as a noob-stomper killer, and fall off against more skilled opponents as soon as people learn to be liberal with EMP use. Speaking of that, most of the survivors have already learned to use them often and if sucks to have no power.

The perks are just okay, survivor obviously got MFT which is fun and imo not too OP. Glad to see something new for once. Killer's only useable perk is Forced Hesitation which is fun but a bit less versatile.

I like the new map, even though I haven't played it too much, it seems balanced enough. Definitely better than the last two chapters, and looking back I think I even like this one more than Sadako Rising or Roots of Dread.

  • Hoarder is pretty much useless on anybody now, but it used to have good potential on a select few.

For Franklin's Demise, it's an alright perk on most, but I find it fun for Plague because you can infect the items on the ground and survivors rarely see it coming.

  • @Steakdabait said:

no i also agree and said the same thing about both darkness revealed and nowhere to hide. The requirements for both of these perks are basically nonexistent for nowhere and minor for darkness. Just compare them to other aura perks and it's actually pretty wild how free these perks are given to you vs bbq or bitter murmur

Darkness Revealed has an actual cooldown, is predictable on Huntress/Trickster who use it the most, and if a killer is seen checking lockers it's pretty obvious that they probably have this.

BBQ is still better than Darkness Revealed but I think NTH is more powerful than both.

  • It used to be like that on release for a few weeks but then in December it got fixed to follow the Killer for 5 sec after kicking. That's also what allowed it to be paired with Lethal Pursuer and made it really strong.

  • @Xernoton said:

Nowhere To Hide is definitely a good perk. Not insanely strong but good. And it can be quite hard for inexperienced survivors to play around it. After all, these are the type of survivors that will hide instead of loop, which Nowhere To Hide can counter.

But it is definitely not overpowered either. The game should be balanced in a way that allows the killer to build pressure as long as they are in chase constantly. Nowhere To Hide will only help you get into the next chase quicker without providing any extra value while in chase. In my opinion that is perfectly fine.

    @nars said:

    • Get in a locker
    • prerun (its not hard to tell if the killer used it to find you so play around it)
    • just dont hide near gens

also the cooldown is walking to a gen being repaired.

That's a good way of looking at it, and makes me feel a little bit better about it. I think you've both actually changed my opinion and it's not too OP for most killers.

But being in chase constantly can lead to some crazy pressure and NTH gives that info for practically free. If you pair it with PGTW or something, killers could get some huge momentum. I'd like to reiterate my point that it's more of a problem on high tier killers who are likely to be using Lethal Pursuer as well. Running away in advance is less effective then.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I’d say run distortion but apparently that’s a noob trap perk

No, Distortion is a good perk for sure. I just use a different build on each different survivor that I play, and might have to use it more often than I do right now.

  • @Kaitsja said:

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your test results are in and they reveal that you have the virus known as "skill issue". The good news is that it's very treatable, but it will be a long time before your condition improves. So remember to stay hydrated, and don't push yourself.

In all seriousness though, it's not really a problem. 24m isn't exactly a huge radius. It's basically the immediate vicinity of a generator. Mostly useful in 3-gens.

Speaking of 3-gens, that does remind me that it's miserable in a 3v1 or 2v1 situation if a killer has already sacrificed a survivor early. The 24m follows the killer like Detective's Hunch's tracking does, so it's actually a really good perk. You can get way more than a 24m aura read with it.

  • One day I hope we'll get another L4D chapter with Coach as a survivor, and the remaining survivors being Nick & Louis outfits for Ace & Adam. I think about it a lot.

The Left 4 Dead outfits are a relic of old DBD, from before I even started playing. What's funny is that it's one of the best hair options for Meg, and I see it a lot mixed with other things.

They've almost returned to their roots, because there are outfits of Feng Min cosplaying, and Felix wearing Chris Redfield's outfit for some reason. The only trouble is that those are linked sets

  • Hag used to be my least favorite killer to face, but she's so rare now and I think I can safely say that it's become The Knight.

To me, it's a lot like a Wraith following you constantly and never uncloaking until they have a guaranteed hit. You get chased by the knight's bodyguards, and not the killer himself. It feels like a negative amount of engagement, and of course you can't stay at a loop for long or else you'll get two-tapped by the bodyguard and then the killer.

Even the Skull Merchant is more fun to face than The Knight in my opinion.

  • Starting? In my opinion the Resident Evil survivors for the most part have bad reputations. Just like the Stranger Things survivors used to be routinely cited as being boosted. Only when the license was lost did the people who still play them become pretty good on average.

  • None of them. I guess maybe I had some fun with Dark Devotion but I was already aware of fun ways to use it. It really loved to give me bad perks like Predator and Yunjin's perks.

Glad to see somebody has converted to Autodidact though, it's really fun.

  • I headcanon most videogame characters as bi until stated otherwise, because I myself am.

I prefer it that way honestly.

  • Fire Up is a funny name because of Freddy's backstory of getting burned alive.

Borrowed Time goes hard, I'm kind of sad it's fallen out of the meta, because it was extremely iconic for 5 years in a row.

  • The main reason I don't prefer Wesker is because getting grabbed and slams into a wall completely stops your momentum and disorients you, and I find that really annoying in video games. DBD may not be a movement shooter, but I still like to have a comfortable flow.

The fact that a sizable amount of RE killers (Wesker, but especially Nemesis) seem to love tunneling doesn't help much either. Still though, there's plenty of killers I'd prefer Wesker over.

  • 6/20.

I haven't been specifically going for it, only sweating a little bit more whenever I happen to land on RPD. I have been stockpiling some RPD offerings but I've never had the heart to actually use them, especially because I don't prefer playing there.

I still think Outbreak Breakout is one of the worst achievements they've ever made. Mainly because it has that old-DBD feeling design, despite being from 2022. They should've learned by now.

  • I don't think so. Because of how the new Archives are, Singularity & Gabriel will get a Tome next, and it's likely that they'll encourage continuing to buy the characters. Just look at how long it took Circle of Healing to be nerfed.

  • It's been almost a year since that change was made. I don't see it more or less than I used to, surprisingly. It's always been a pretty popular perk for killers.

It's one of the best free killer perks, so it makes sense to see it often.

  • Open Handed. Because knowledge is power.

  • Very happy that you didn't include Autodidact in that list. It's actually a counter to Sloppy Butcher and is really fun to use.

as for Solidarity, they should just make it a 100% conversion rate and see what happens. I feel like even then it won't be too powerful because of the prerequisites.

Pharmacy got "buffed" and I think if they just make it more in-line with the other rummaging perks from Haddie & Gabriel, it'll be okay. Because not being able to find a green medkit at all times is worse than what they gave it.

Resurgence I think is fine, even if Sloppy counters it.

Reactive Healing, I have no idea how to make it better

  • I couldn't disagree more. The prestige rewards end at P9, and that's okay. It's already a large commitment to get a character to 9. Anything after that is a personal choice and it takes a ludicrous amount of bloodpoints and time invested to reach the higher up numbers.

If there was a tangible reward besides the badge itself, I just know some poor soul would spend thousands of hours just because it's content they feel the need to earn. Or they'll just feel bad that there's content they'll never feasibly earn, being forced to pick and choose just a few characters.

  • It would've been cool if you could start earning them the same way after you got all of the masks from this year. Going in reverse chronological order, but everything still obtainable from playing.

Some consistency would have been nice, because selling the 2022 masks for 400 Auric Cells apiece is kind of...iffy.

  • Only giving it a cooldown if you break a hook.

As it stands, a killer interrupting you will make it so you can't sabo unless you've also got a toolbox. Can't rely on the perk alone. Or if you accidentally tap it and have to wait a minute to get it back, that also sucks.
